Random Fic AU

Can’t really draw so I gave up here, but a rough size chart for my Monster Slayer Lux AU I’ve been writing. Shows Goblin Powder, Lux, and Siren (First mistaken as a Harpy) Seraphine. Powder is small enough to ride on Lux’s shoulder (which is her typical spot while travelling). 

Their appearances are subject to change once they go through evolutions, at least that’s what I’m rolling with because any lightcannon would be weird with Powder so....goblin. Mainly ended up posting because even scribble Siren Seraphine is adorable.

Lux spends much of what I’ve written worrying over the possibility she’s picked up some sort of monster charm ability with how attached the two get almost immediately. Also, her mild annoyance at neither calling her by her actual name and instead by Powder’s nickname for her Luxy (combination of Pretty and Lux).

Just in time for Christmas this little Halloween lightcannon thing came into my mind and made itself at home. Lil modern/college AU

Everyone in their group knew Lux to be an avid Legend of Zelda enjoyer. She had played all the games, had sword and shield proudly displayed in her dorm room and was fully ready able and willing to go full lecture mode on anyone who dared call Link Zelda.

When the topic of costumes for the upcoming party came up she just mentioned she'd be a video game character.

For Ezreal this clearly meant one thing: she was going to be the princess herself: Zelda. So, the true hopeless romantic he was, he put his best Link costume on to finally make her see that they belonged together. How could she resist in such a setting?

The day comes and the fierce warrior enters the room to conquer the girl, just to find...

Her being Peach. Not only that, but Jinx as Bowsette is right there, holding her hand. As best friends do right? Because they're roommates. Right?

His last hopes get shattered like a clay pot when they kiss.

(He may have found solace in Ganondorf Ekko, but that's just College rumors, you know?)

Fair warning, I do not read much Fanfic anymore as I spend most of my time writing it, so some of these fics are probably going to feel really scattered. With that said, let’s get into it.

LIGHTCANNON (Lux/Jinx)

Non-Linear Growth by @booking-and-blogging (Elfen1012 on Ao3)

A lot of people reading my work have said that Flashbangs is the Lightcannon bible, but if that’s true then NLG by Elfen1012 is the Lightcannon New Testament. It hits the ground running from the perspective of a Jinx that is trying to piece herself back together after the end of Arcane and it is something to behold. I cannot recommend this enough.

Luxurious Anarchy by @cannibalelf (Cannibal_Elf on Ao3)

A kind of Soulmate-lite longform fic in which Lux is drawn across the span of Valoran to find her one-and-only: Jinx, mad and still struggling with the events of Arcane. This is just a really fantastic romp through the world of Piltover and Zaun, thoroughly enjoyable on every level. The prose are punchy, the narrative is clean, and I really enjoyed my time with it.

Friction Coefficient by @blood-lich-crow ( Blood_Lich_Maeve on Ao3)

I would argue this is probably the best Modern!AU Lightcannon on Ao3 right now, at least in my very subjective opinion. It gracefully deals with a lot of delicate topics like internalized (and external) homophobia and transphobia, trans issues, and addiction. This is one of the messiest romances I’ve ever read and I am here for it. 

PISTOLWHIP (Caitlyn/Jinx)

the lover of my impossible soul by Goldfyshie927 on Ao3

This Modern!AU features Caitlyn as a professional escort who is drawn into a relationship with the wealthy and chaotic Jinx in order to keep her father happy and convince him she had mellowed out somewhat. The profound sense of loneliness you get from both characters throughout the story, and the way they inelegantly mesh together is really profound, and I look forward to seeing more of this story come out. Big recommendation for very unusual ship.

SYLVAINA (Sylvanas/Jaina)

Vintage by (jointly) @redisaid and @uninspired--poet

How do I put this. To date, I’ve read the entirety of Vintage six times. Vintage isn’t just a fanfiction I think is good. Vintage is one of the fanfictions I go back reread every now and again to remind myself what willful romance is supposed to look like. In this Modern!AU where Jaina is a college student and scion of a wealthy family, while Sylvanas is the owner of a small, failing vintage goods shop in New York. It’s a story about falling in love and then choosing to stay that way despite the many things that crop up. It’s about coming up against the difficulties in relationships and choosing love, with all its messy difficulties, over the path of least resistance. Read this, I am begging you.

Fearless by @redisaid

This might be the best example of modern magic I’ve ever read. It’s as subtle as it is overt, and as entrenched a part of the world as it is wholly separate from it. Jaina, a ghost-eating witch, finds a house haunted by a powerful banshee, and fully intends to consume her for power. Over the course of the story, that changes, and everything from the side characters, to the small moments, to the strong finish has stuck with me to the point that it inspires aspects of my own writing.

Within The Drift by @uninspired--poet

It’s hard to do a good crossover, even when the crossover’s make a kind of thematic sense. Writing a good crossover when the two subjects have jack shit in common is testament to a great author’s skill. Within The Drift is a fantastically put together sci-fi/fantasy action-romance crossing over Pacific Rim with World of Warcraft, featuring Sylvanas and Jaina as contentiously drift compatible pilots. I’ve read this story back to front several times, and it never gets old.

KAZULA (Azula/Katara)

Measure Each Step to Infinity by paxbanana

Set in Post-Canon ATLA, Measure is fantastic enemies-to-lovers-to-wives story full of angst, intrigue, action, and redemption. It has one of my favorite depictions of Azula and, surprisingly, Aang, which the story humanizes wonderfully. Azula is as morally gray as ever, and her struggle to leave behind the horrors of war and emotional abuse inflicted on her by her father to be better, and Katara’s growing dedication and devotion to her over the course of the story is gripping.

KORVIRA (Korra/Kuvira)

Phenomenal Modern!AU Kuvira fic and I will shamelessly plug this because I love a good bartender character. Kuvira and Korra instantly charm in the first chapter, and their friendship blossoms into a lot more. This is a story that’s impossible to summarize without spoilers, but it is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions, drama, angst, and disaster gays from start to finish and you’d be doing yourself a favor by reading it.

PILTOVER’S FINEST (Caitlyn/Vi)

Run At The Cup. by @thehomelybadger (TheHomelyBadger on Ao3)

I’ve reviewed this story before on this very blog so I really feel it’s necessary to have it here. I don’t read a lot of CaitVi but this one absolutely knocks it out of the park. Or rather, into the goal. Run At The Cup is a Hockey!AU, it’s a fantastic underdog story of a brand-new NHL team, the Zaun Sumprats, and it’s mix of sports jargon, action-packed hockey games, and interpersonal and political drama make for an absolutely gripping story.

A Love Letter To Amphibia & Amphibians

well. here goes.

it feels a bit silly to be feeling so much over the ending of a disney cartoon meant for children, but it can't be helped. i don't even know how to begin to describe the impact amphibia has had on me - both as a person and on my life. not only did i have something to look forward to during what was arguably one of my worst years (never again, 2020), but in time, amphibia became more than just a show i cared about. it became something, something that drove me to create again, to reach out, to find some sort of meaning in the enjoyment i was experiencing.

and here i am now, happier than i've ever been before, with more friends than i could have ever imagined having. every single one of you - even those of you i've never spoken to - means so much to me. i've never felt like an important part of something until the amphibia fandom, and for that, i thank you.

hey guys..i just wanna say im really sorry for the lack of lightcannon content lately;;; like i said, i dont wanna force myself to draw them bc if i do, my love for the ship will die out fast that way.

do not get me wrong, i still love jinx and lux with all of my heart, but its only been lately that ive been exploring more by making my own characters and learning new things and all~ (besides school’s been a bitch but it’s mostly bc of the first reason tbh haha)

this might be hard to ask, but i hope you guys can support me on my other artworks too, for this is a place for my art overall. i know ill be going back to drawing lightcannon soon, but do not be surprised if it’s considered an occasional thing on this blog now, since i can sense that my art will be varied from here on out. but as ive stated, you’re free to unfollow if you dont like the clutter! ;w;

Alright, so I just made a Wenclair post but imma make another one right now because oh my LORD I just saw the fandom breaking reviews, so sit down and grab a snack because it’s rambling time.

I see that many of you are discouraged from the prospect of Wenclair not being canon, this is understandable as I myself am really invested in these two. Hopefully this goes without saying, but NO ONE should hate on the show, the actors, etc etc. I refuse to let such toxicity run through this fandom. Like, this is just reviews for the first season. Please, I really, really don’t want a repeat of the Voltron fandom and cries of queerbaiting (and I wasn’t even remotely near being part of the Voltron fandom! It just got THAT bad that even I knew of its notorious reputation). Again, the show isn’t even out yet. Who’s to say Hunter going ‘fighting for Wenclair’ didn’t mean the course of their relationship in future seasons? We only have information on a first season that isn’t even out yet, so please, calm down on any hate and queerbaiting accusations.

That being said- y’all telling me you’re not buckled down for a slow burn? Wednesday is a character who needs a LOT of time and effort to build trust with on a romantic relationship level, so getting Wenclair all in one season would have been cool or whatever, but it also would’ve been pretty OOC since season one has confirmed only 8 episodes. On the flipside, the payoff of Wenclair’s growing friendship, that blooming trust, the eventual deep bond between them that not even Wednesday herself can deny? Is that not peak sapphic experience? Frenemies to begrudging allies to ‘I find your existence… not the worst’ ‘ppfft, thanks, Addams’ to friends to friends who would murder fer each other to ‘you are the sun that burns and enchants me, I hope this drought lasts a lifetime’. LIKE C’MON??? THE FLAVOR?? Don’t give up on Wenclair just yet y’all. (That being said, the line about droughts should be in a fanfic so imma mark that down fer later.)

And like, I think this next point is the most important thing to note. We all acknowledged our love for Wenclair as a delusion, ever since the beginning we knew we were pulling crumbs and making silly little headcanons. Yes, I would love if Wenclair became canon. Would I stop shipping it if it never does, though? Let’s see, I am a veteran Whiterose shipper of several years. Those two barely had a conversation in the entirety of Volume 8 and I am STILL willing to die on this hill fer them. I am a Lightcannon enjoyer despite the next to NOTHING crumbs in the entirety of their respective existences. Oh, you would not believe how many rarepairs I hold dear in the Pokémon world. The list goes on and on and on. Canon is cool and all but I hoard my random ships like a dragon of ye olde. Just look at what we, the OG Wenclair Warriors, made with just a few trailers and interviews and random instagram comments. The lovely art, the heart wrenching fanfics, the god tier headcanons. I dunno bout yall, but I’m not ready to give that all up just because canon said ‘mmmm no’. If no one got me, ao3 got me.

Trust me, I am well-aware the importance of good representation and I’m not saying you can’t be disappointed over this. What I am saying, however, is that you shouldn’t always let canon 100% dictate how you’re going to consume and enjoy a piece of media. So what if Wenclair isn’t canon? Their dynamic is AMAZING and nothing can take that away from me. There’s still potential and writing room for future seasons, and to that I say buckle down homies, we in it fer a long time and a good time.

New Lightcannon idea: Prince of Persia crossover. A new exhibit of rare relics from Shurima opens in Piltover with the highlight being the supposed 'Sands of Time' hourglass and Dagger of Time. The ancient Vizier attacks the Museum to gain both items, and use them to turn both cities into a replica of his kingdom he was master of in ancient times. However Jinx (Surviving being stabbed by the Dagger she just happen to be wanting to rob as well.) makes off with the Dagger in a visiting Lux being dragged along for the ride.

Never played the Prince of Persia games (I seem to be saying that a lot with having not watched/read/played lol) so I'm only able to talk from context clues, but I'm somewhat struggling on figure out how to mentally develop the idea (If that makes sense).

Usually with these submissions it gets my brain buzzing, but with this one I don't really know how it would go. Like I can see Jinx being a little gremlin sneaking in to the exhibit, maybe getting found out by Vi and Caitlyn (who are patrolling the exhibit given it's high profile nature and the fact Jinx likely sent them a note expressing her interest). Lux could also be there as a diplomat.

It's just I'm drawing a blank on how the story would advance past getting the cool dagger.

I don't know, for some reason my mind just drifts to the Mummy given the subject matter and my enjoyment of the movie. In that case it could be an AU (or take place in Runeterra who knows) where Lux hires a team to explore newly discovered ruins that are thought to house unimaginable treasures.

Team would be: Lux (Kinda over it archeologist), Ezreal (Well-intentioned explorer friend that's a massive idiot surviving through sheer luck and is practically unkillable), Sivir (Local guide, gruff with a heart of gold when it counts, constant mocker of "Dumb foreigners"), Jinx (Ex-Convict hired due to her unmatched skills when it comes to traps and engineering, keeps flirting with Lux), and Caitlyn and Vi being thrown into the bunch as Jinx 'technically' isn't an Ex-Convict since she escaped prison early because she got bored.

Villain would be Xerath or something, who the accidentally unleash and have to deal with.

Maybe I just want to rewatch the Mummy.....
