Beauty Into Ashes

Over forty years have passed since this story [Jim Elliot's death in Ecuador] took place. Nearly every time I have told it and tried to explain what I have told it and tried to explain what I thing God wanted to teach me in it of absolute commitment and trust, someone has asked:

"But why did God let it happen?"

Someday they and I will be satisfied with His answer. Of one thing I am perfectly sure:

God's story never ends with ashes.

NIA-10 Implements "Green Tech" to Boost Farming in N. Mindanao

  CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The National Irrigation Administration in Northern Mindanao (NIA-10) has taken a significant step towards sustainable farming by adopting "green technology" in four areas of the region. The initiative aims to support farmers and enhance their productivity.  

Solar Pumps Installed: Saving Costs for Rice Farmers

In an interview on Thursday, NIA-10 Manager Elpidio Lucernas Jr. revealed that solar pumps have been installed this year in the towns of Balingasag and Alubijid, both located in Misamis Oriental, as well as in Lala town in Lanao del Norte and Barangay Pagalungan in Cagayan de Oro City. These solar pumps offer a major advantage to rice farmers in these areas, as they can now save at least 50 percent on their electricity bills compared to their previous billing statements from electric providers.  

Additional Irrigation Projects Set for Implementation

Lucernas, who manages the Irrigation Management Office of the four provinces in Region 10, excluding Bukidnon, also announced that additional irrigation projects worth PHP20 million are scheduled for implementation before the end of this year. These projects will be carried out in the towns of Balingasag and Maranding in Lanao del Norte and Tangub City in Misamis Occidental. The aim is to further enhance irrigation facilities in these areas, providing vital support to local farmers.  

Challenges in Misamis Oriental: Insufficient Irrigation Coverage

While highlighting the progress made, Lucernas emphasized that NIA-10 is committed to improving its service area in Misamis Oriental. Currently, only 18.3 percent of the land in the region is irrigated, falling short of the necessary coverage for achieving rice sufficiency and providing cheaper rice prices.  

Expanding Irrigation Coverage: A Critical Step

Lucernas explained that the current irrigation rate covers approximately 2,114 hectares of farmland out of the 5,000-hectare service area, resulting in a yield of only 3,910 kilograms per hectare. To achieve rice sufficiency in Misamis Oriental, it is crucial to expand the irrigated land area. However, the process of irrigation development is still underway.  

Project Implementation Speeds Up

To address these challenges, NIA-10 is expediting its project implementation, which has already reached 90 percent completion for cycle 2022. This proactive approach will help accelerate the region's progress towards achieving a more efficient and sustainable irrigation system.  

Promoting a Sustainable Future for Northern Mindanao

As NIA-10 continues to prioritize the adoption of green technology and expand its irrigation projects, the prospects for enhanced farming productivity and improved rice sufficiency in Northern Mindanao are expected to grow. I live in Salvador, Lanao del Norte. I am the oldest and I have four younger siblings. I love exploring, I have a lot of hobbies, I'm an ambivert—if there's such a thing, I do socialize but I prefer to be alone most of the time.

Yes, I love reading books. I have a lot of collection—fiction, self-help books, even books about education. If you love fiction books like me, I recommend Maze Runner Series and Harry Potter Series. I also recommend some stories from Wattpad, like Until Trilogy, University Series, College Series, Game Series, He's into her, My husband is a Mafia Boss, Detective Files, Garnet Academy, etc. I also love self-help books so much, I have that famous Daily Reminder, Atomic Habits, etc.

Aside from reading, I'm also a big fan of watching movies and series. My all-time favorite is Harry Potter. I'm also a fan and will always be a fan of Barbie Movies. I don't watch thriller and horror movies because I believe that it will just trigger my imagination.

She is 43 years old, she is the third of her 5 siblings. She is now living in Tandang Sora, Quezon City for five years. She likes to try things and she can easily understand things so she can learn them easily. She is very kind, very considerate, humble to everyone, helpful, respectful and most of all loving to her neighbor. She is very workaholic as busy as a bee

 She finished elementary school from grade 1 to grade 6 at Geronimo Elementary School in the school year from 1987 to 1992 and she received awards for his excellence in mathematics and was often hired by teachers to compete in the schools of the competition in Quiz B, in the subject of Social Studies and Mathematics. When she was in elementary school, she gained talent and being active in class. She graduated secondary school at Manila High School in the school year 1992 to 1995. During her secondary school, she received various awards as one of the leaders in her class, being a productive student and being good at mathematics. She studied college at the Systems Technology Institute during the school year from 1995 to 1999. She took an Associate in Computer Secretary course. Her first job was Post Office in 2005 to 2018. She started working in the Government in 2018, now she is currently working in the Supreme Court as Cashier Court.

Another Vintage Camera Find

I saw a Japan Surplus Store near the hotel I’m staying at in Iligan City (Lanao del Norte).. and the I saw a Polaroid E44.

This camera is from the 1970s and it was for sale for PhP 1,200.00. It was too expensive for me. So, I decided to haggle with the owner and told him that no will buy this. There are very few vintage camera collectors like me out there... I was able to convince him to give it to me for PhP 600.00. Haha!

AFP Decisively Targets Terrorists

A Week of Tactical Triumphs

In a relentless pursuit of peace and security, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has successfully neutralized a significant threat to national stability, as reported by the Philippine News Agency. Throughout the week, from February 18 to 24, the AFP has reported the successful neutralization of 13 insurgents, including members of the communist New People's Army (NPA) and the terrorist Dawlah-Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG), across the Visayas and Mindanao regions.  

Courage Under Fire

General Romeo Brawner Jr., AFP Chief, commended the valor of the troops involved in these operations. "You are our nation's heroes," he stated, further emphasizing the dedication and bravery of the forces in safeguarding peace. Additionally, this operational success brings the Philippines closer to achieving its long-sought goal of enduring peace, thereby showcasing the military's unwavering commitment to protecting its citizens from insurgency and terrorism.   Strategic Operations Yield Results The operations were widespread and meticulously planned. In Albay, Barangay Salvacion witnessed the capture of weapons from NPA rebels by the 49th Infantry Battalion. Similarly, collaborative efforts in Bohol, Agusan Del Norte, Cagayan, and Negros Occidental led to the dismantling of significant insurgent and terrorist elements, further destabilizing their networks and reducing their capacity to disrupt national peace. Notably, an operation targeting the DI-MG resulted in the neutralization of members responsible for the Mindanao State University bombing, underscoring the AFP's resolve to address terrorism. The military's efforts have led to the dismantling of the leadership structures of these groups, significantly weakening their operational capabilities.   National Defense and Commendation The Department of National Defense, led by Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., echoed the military's sentiments, particularly praising the operations against the DI-MG. The Secretary highlighted the importance of these operations in maintaining national security and expressed the nation's gratitude towards the troops for their sacrifices.  

The Dawlah-Islamiyah-Maute Group

The Dawlah-Islamiyah-Maute Group, an armed Islamist faction operating in Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur, has been a significant security concern for the Philippines. Emerging in 2014, the DI-MG pledged allegiance to ISIS, adopting violent means in their quest to establish an Islamic caliphate. Had a quick lunch date with ate Cha at Brave Cafe. Talked about ganaps in life, future plans and everything in between.

I accompanied uncle Junjun to his appointment with his doctor. The queue was very long; we had to wait for 2 hours. I'm glad I brought my iPad with me! I was able to read "The Mountain is You." I'm almost done with the book!  

After uncle's appointment, we headed to Gab's 1st birthday at Linamon. Waah! Very busog!

Had a quick escapade at Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte with family to witness the spectacular Christmas village.

A long day, but a fulfilling one :)
