I JUST realized Makuu and Kiburi had completely different reactions to seeing Scar for the first time

First there’s Kiburi who, unsurprisingly, looked downright terrified at first. So much so, he actually showed an emotion other than annoyance lmao

And then there’s Makuu

It’s so brief cuz the creators wanted to show everyone’s reactions but he looks kinda…annoyed? He just glares at him and nothing else, almost like seeing an evil ghost is an inconvenience

Honestly, this is making me think of how Ucheshi would react to Scar. I feel like it’d also be the opposite of her brother. I kinda like to imagine Scar would want to recruit her at first upon hearing how she outsmarts the rest of his army in her hc episode, but when he meets her face-to-face he straight up regrets it lmao.

No bc she’d piss him off the minute he appears in front of her. He dramatically appears like “Welcome, Ucheshi~” AND HER FIRST RESPONSE IS

“….Oh. That’s what you guys are scared of?”

“Is there a problem?”

“Oh no, not at all! I just thought you’d be a little more…intimidating? You know, like the old king, Mufasa! Oh, I’d LOVE to meet his ghost someday! Even saying his name is kind of intimidating.”

And meanwhile, the rest of Scar’s army is like :0 while Kiburi looks like he wants to die 😭

Kiara wanted to train with someone that could push her to her limits. She has been training with her mom and The Guard, but there was certain...reverence that made her feel that the other lions didnt want to hurt her. So Kiara remembered how Kion told her about Makuu teaching the Pridelanders to fight against Scar and she realized that's what she needed.

But when she asked the reptile about it, Makuu just laughed at her face. He was busy and wasn't going to train a "bratty princess" how to fight. Kiara got angry at that, but then, calmly, suggested a Mashindano, just between the two of them: if she wins, he will teach her everything. If he wins, Kiara would personally caught a big zebra for him and his float.

Makuu accepted the deal, thinking he was going to win easily...until the fight started and he was surprised by being quickly pinned down by the now-not-so-scrawny princess.  

After that, Kiara's classes started.

young tlg crocodiles aus

i didn't realise i couldn't save ask answers as drafts! :( but anyway, @devilsrecreation asked: So what exactly are your ideas for the baby crocs in The Lion Guard I’m really curious 👀 so here's my response!!

as she already established in her hcs, pua is basically everyone's adoptive dad! in this context to makuu, kiburi, tamka, nduli and neema! he has different relationships with all of them but he's closest to makuu and kiburi for sure

i like to think that makuu is older than the other four; i was going to say don't question me on ages but i just found out it takes ~12-15 years for nile crocodiles to reach full adulthood! so it checks out that makuu could be a year older and still hang out with them. there's probably so many non-mature members of the float that they have younger groups within it

speaking of that, i actually think makuu didn't get along very well with the other crocodiles his age. but, one day, he briefly interacts with the younger kiburi's group and gets to know them really well. he kind of becomes their secondary charge behind pua. no danger was gonna get close to those four lmao

i think crocs are pretty wholesome & innocent when they're babies but get more into the crocodile way as they mature. it's just really cute to think of baby kiburi, tamka, nduli and neema innocently interacting

there's this song i fell in love with while coming up with the mjuzi nduli au called little fang by avey tare! for me personally it fits my ideas for that au, i think it's also sweet as a lullaby/poem that pua sings to the five kiddos. i really recommend it it's an adorable song

i'm a sucker for crack/uncommon ships, i saw pua x basi once and it kinda stuck with me. i'd just enjoy seeing their dynamic as two leaders who work together when it's the time of year for the crocs to share with the hippos. because of their bond (platonic or romantic idrk), i imagine one of the reasons beshte is so friendly is bc he grew up around and got to know the crocs when they'd share big springs with the hippos. he says "I know it's crowded, Kiburi. But it really is a good spot" because he remembers the crocs' younger years and knows they can be reasonable, but things changed that weren't under his control and he couldn't do anything about it.

he feels kinda dissapointed about how things changed, cuz to him the crocs were like the neighbour's family you get to know really well. to stir up some more sadness, it's almost always beshte who's kicking out kiburi's float. beshte sends them back to the outlands himself so they don't hurt his friends, even though he remembers when they were 'good' or more understanding/just before makuu and kiburi's rift in general

since it takes so many years for crocs to mature, i imagine the younguns would spend ALL THE TIME playing. pua has a soft spot for the five of them so their playtimes and adventures become kind of like a bluey episode where they learn something valuable. kiburi listens to him more than anyone, while makuu's a bit more like "Yeah, yeah" bc he thinks being older means he doesn't need to learn anything new

one of pua's lessons would be not to judge or underestimate someone for being different, such as neema for being mute or nduli for not being born in the float (my own hc is that he's from an outsider float that was really struggling which is why he's so small. he was found by pua really young and his parents agreed he'd have a better life in the pridelands)

pua taught the five a lot of good lessons but obviously not all of them stuck. i haven't come up with what caused the rift between makuu and kiburi exactly, but i think kiburi's float would still want to be friends with makuu, and even more so after he redeems himself. despite being fully grown now they still kinda see him as a cool older brother that they can learn from but they'll always stick with kiburi because, at the end of the day, it's them four against the world lol

whew. that's it for now! i could write for days about these guys. and i probably will make a follow-up post at some point

I coined the headcanon a few years back that Makuu from The Lion Guard would have turtle brothers due to brood parasitism and how the sex of a reptilian is temperature-based, meaning any and all of his siblings would be males.

Well, what slipped my mind and now is a revelation of mine is that Makuu would've probably had to have watched his brothers (either turtle or crocodile) die from an early age. Because reptilians have a high mortality rate in the developing egg and their youth, especially crocodiles. It's the reason why crocodile moms are so aggressive.

And yeah, there is a fanon headcanon that young animals are off-limits to hunters, but crocodiles are a k-selected species, living for a long time and having multiple offspring. So the saddest part is, that the predation of the young and frail would not only be allowed but be mandatory in order to prevent crocodiles and turtles from overpopulation. Not only that, but most animals that prey on young crocodiles like storks, baboons, and water monitors would be able to escape apprehension from the law with how agile and sneaky they are, making a law that would keep them at bay pointless.

So anyone in Makuu's litter that he bonds with, whether turtle or crocodile, would be at risk of being carried off by a giant-ass bird, and it would run totally smoothly by the royal family, legal-wise.

honestly she’s probably one of the only few visually appealing characters and plus she’s voiced by renee elise goldsberry and i watched hamilton so 🤷‍♀️ and i stg i rewatched her song like 50 million times as a kid

omfg before my 10 year old self used to fucking hate makuu so damn much but ever since he had a redemption arc i just loved him. he’s actually a pretty good leader and just needed people to give him a chance instead of assuming the worst will come from him just because of who he was in the past

before i didn’t rlly like him bc he was so nerdy and i didn’t rlly like that about him but ever since the time skip i just liked him more idk why and especially after that ep when ono babysits a bird i loved ono so much it was just so wholesome to see ono doing something else instead of just spitting facts at the lion guard and looking around in the sky

jesus fucking christ i am so glad he got a redemption arc bc it was great. janja was such a cool villain although i have to admit his schemes (pre scar’s revival) are so dumb and it’s no surprise how his ass gets kicked by the lion guard every single time but oh well it’s a kids show so what can i say

i have to fucking thank jasiri for being a good influence on janja bc it actually worked. like before i just thought to myself that there’s no way janja would ever turn to jasiri and hell maybe even fall in love with her bc all jasiri kept saying to janja was ‘si si ni sawa, we are the same’ and at first janja brushed it off as some cringey and untrue saying but at some point janja actually for once took it into consideration and when jasiri says that janja doesn’t have to side with scar janja full on hesitates for a long time but still refuses but u could tell by the sound of his voice he was very unsure. after the skinks report to scar about janja’s hesitation scar decides to throw the hyenas under the bus by misinforming them about a plan which subsequently causes the near death of janja’s clan and of course janja realizes that scar never cared for those who worked under him and in the end they were just tokens to scar’s disposal when and wherever

In the new Equestria, the Changelings are rules by a majestic, yet elusive and frightening king named King Aglais. Known for his beauty and ferocity, Aglais is not like many past Changeling rulers. Aglais showers his subjects with love, but not through the virtue of speech or the methods of stealing but rather through the kindness of his actions. However, Aglais is not without a mysterious past, having connections to a once dark and mysterious force that plagued Equestria (rather literally) and played a part in the downfall of the harmony. 

Aglais is a protector of his people, using his warping and shapeshifting magic to forever move and conceal the secret grotto where the Changelings now reside. The question remains however, how long can he keep it up?

Decided to have a go at designing a G5 King for the buggy boys because I can imagine the concept of Changelings being so foreign to this generation's ponies. Like if Zipp didn't know what a Breezie was (did any of them??) then I definitely don't think they'd know what a Changeling is, let alone their powers. Aglais has one of my fave designs so far but he will share his badassniness with the other Kings (And Queen!) when I get around to it. Plus there is some interesting lore for this man, he is the eldest of the kings AND, he has a pretty interesting event happen with him early in Equestria's timeline, similar to how Makuu did. Anyways enjoy the big Millipede boy!

So the Maziwa Makuu, known as the African Great Lakes, all lie within the tropical zone along the Great Rift Valley in East Africa. Collectively they contain a quarter of the world's fresh unfrozen surface water and about a tenth of the world's species of fish.

The largest is Nyaza (Lake Victoria), second largest in the world by area after Superior. It's the primary source of the White Nile and is surrounded by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Next is Lake Tanganyika, the longest lake in the world, the second largest by volume and, at a depth three and a half times that of Superior, it's also the second deepest. Its youngest basin has been around for over 3 million years and its oldest for around 10. (Lake Baikal in Siberia is the deepest, biggest by volume, and oldest.) Tanzania, DRC, Zambia, and Burundi share it, although it probably laughs at the notion of nations.

Lake Malawi is the third by area, although second by depth (almost twice as deep as Superior) and is another ancient lake. It is alkaline and also meromictic, so the upper and lower waters don't mix. It contains the most species of fish of any of the world's lakes, and as the water is remarkably clear and averages 80°F at the surface, it's fantastic for snorkling and diving. Tanzania also borders this lake, along with Malawi and Mozambique.

for kiburi

first of all and mostly importantly, HE SINGS! LIKE, A LOT! it would be so fun to hear Tonight We Strike, an already A*** song, in his voice. i wonder if the songs would be different because he and his float are crocodiles 👀

more tamka and nduli screen time! :3 they'd be way more fleshed out and we'd get kiburi calling them "fish-for-brains" all the time <3

neema taking the place of nne and tano... kiburi gets so annoyed at tamka and nduli one day that he appoints neema to second-in-command. yeah, it goes downhill 💀

i feel like nduli in this au would enhance my mjuzi au even more if it was put into this! mainly because he'd be the mjuzi to makuu (because he swaps with jasiri)

on that note, makuu taking the place of jasiri is SO FUNNY. he's got practically the exact same personality as when he becomes a respected leader in canon, but he's... cheery? compassionate? helpful? basically enough of a small difference for him to greet kion like jasiri does in canon

makuu singing Siwi Ni Sawa 😭 i want to see that so bad. this is making me wonder if makuu and the other crocodiles would be teens maybe? unless kion just makes friends with a whole ass fully grown crocodile from the outlands who happens to be friendly hgdgf

and on THAT note, makuu and kiburi replace jasiri and janja, so gay croc bfs!!! kiburi's personality is obviously slightly altered to fit janja's role but it's so funny cuz dude just has internal gay panic. him singing A New Way To Go would be fucking amazing

as i'm typing this i realised that makuu x kiburi reminds me of that Go For It, [Insert Character]! meme. kiburi's the one who has to go for it and he's surrounded by images of makuu lmao

makuu and kion having a close friendship would be so fun, it's such a cool twist from canon cuz makuu is just that little bit more compassionate. it also means he becomes leader of the outlands! now THAT would be something to see

in general, it would just be so goddamn funny for the lion guard to deal with kiburi's attitude all the time lmao

actual asshole janja is not something i thought of before but now i'm rocking with it. he literally just hates jasiri's rule, is like "nah, fuck you, i wanna be leader!" and gets his tail kicked like an idiot /affectionate

jasiri taking makuu's place and maybe being a bad leader at first?? that'd be pretty interesting to see especially with her personality. imagine her not being trusted at the savanna summit!

her being humbled by the pridelanders saving her clan would be awesome to see, i'd really like to see her personality shifted to the point where she's cocky and disrespectful but she betters herself

a hyena mashindano between jasiri and janja 👀 damn that'd be cool

i think i like this au of jasiri a lot bc she is involved in the pridelands, and it reminds me of this post <3 which could be even more fun if inserted into this au, with makuu as leader of the outlands accepted into the summit, cause crocs are a lot more dangerous than hyenas let me tell you that. it also adds depth bc it would be personal healing for kiara, as she was attacked by outlander crocodiles in TLK 2!

i wish i could talk more about janja but kiburi is canon does not have too much depth tbh 😭 but the concept of them swapping is soooo cool. it would be so trippy for them to be swapped when they meet in Let Sleeping Crocs Lie

i'm probably gonna get even more ideas after i post this i guarantee. just a very cool au with a lotta potential!!
