illusion   

 When dance becomes rapture in the haze of a rave. Structured around a single, slow-motion take of dancer Xristina Prompona, the multilayered editing approach suspends the viewer in an immersive flow of ecstatic motion. Music is by TA2MI, a buddhist priest, music producer and hip hop DJ from Japan. The edit eschews visible cuts and replaces them with multiple superimpositions, evoking projection visuals for live stage performance.

Like countless floating dots on the canvas in space, all the components that exist are multi-layered causal factors that emerge inter-relatedly, and they are the potential and the reality that are endlessly proliferating. 

Color as digitized pure visual information, and polygons and lines as atomic particles symbolizing cosmic fundamental universality, have acquired a new existence extending into infinite space in their free-flowing movements.

'A Sense of Place' - Plan

I plan on focusing more on lacking a sense of place. I plan on making a project about my home town. Wishaw has a rich history and was once a hotspot within the central belt in the 20th century. It has been on a downward spiral since the 80s and has become a shell of itself, entirely lacking any sense of community. I want to show how isolating it can be living in a town which is so run down and has become so close minded. I want to show the contrast between the energy it held for example in the 70s compared to now, showing what popular sites look like now.

Animation about our connection to nature and how just like what we need to live are lungs, blood, bones and a brain, sometimes it is enough to only focus on breathing, drinking water and moving your body. Life can get overly complicated and you feel that endless demands of existence are controlling your self worth, well it is okay to just exist and not be the best, do the most and achieve everything you think you should. This is a reminder and permission to just be without expectations, and take care of your basic needs 🤍

Monday class- Ayr - moving image

On this Monday class all HND groups went to Ayr - the coastal town to shoot moving image. It is just a practice before the actual project but we still had to take some videos from the place and then will need to create the short (minimum 90 seconds) video using the footage from that day. We will have access to other’s videos from our small groups.  I think it would be better if we were place in groups week earlier and think about the theme etc, but we all came there with (for most of us) no idea what we gonna do, what kind of shoots we want.  I suggested to go with the “day trip” theme, where I became a photographer who came to Ayr and was taking pictures of the place. Everyone went their own direction so it was just me and Simon mostly shooting that theme. He had his own gimbal and now comparing videos we took with it and handhold ones its just such a game changer. You still can edit shaky videos and make them more still but with the cost of the frame. To stabilize the video you need to kind of zoom it. Next step is to edit the videos and crate the movie. I like working on iMovie but i can only do it in college as I don’t have Mac, I don't really think my laptop is made for moviemaking, so I will continue my edits next week at college.

Catch Me If You Can: Sports Brief

For my Sports Brief, I chose to shoot and capture images of a football friendly match that took place at the Toryglen Regional Football Centre. The match was between our college football team from the City of Glasgow College, and the Caledonian Braves.

I mostly captured action shots of players tackling for the ball and a few shots of emotions in the players facial expressions. I shot over 130 images during the whole match, and got 15 killer action shots.

All of the final images had to be cropped, to focus on the “wait for it” moments of the match. For the correct shutter speed setting, I changed the shutter speed up to 1/2000 of a second, so I could capture fast moving images without blurriness or camera shakes.

For this exercise, I shot with a Canon 24-105mm lens.
