When it comes to collabs (I dream of seeing) in Sky, Ico and The Shadow of the Colossus are definitely on that list. Would LOVE to see Colossi masks for Sky Kids to wear, and the character outfits from the games would look kinda neat, I think!
Anyway, have a quick Sky Kid Ico and an unfinished Sky Kid/Guide Yorda. (Maybe she'd be a Guide? Or part of quests where you have to guide her to safety. Would NOT be my favorite quest tbh. XD )

hi, i am putting this on anonymous because i am shy. what are some themes you would like/wish the remakes to expand on?
I'm answering this late I am very sorry
SO this is a lot for me to think about and hopefully i can keep it concise because I tend to ramble
Put under a 'Read More' because this will be super long
To start, I think that I just wish Capcom wouldn't be so lukewarm with its themes. This is probably the biggest problem because (to me, at least) it can't focus on what it wants to tell the audiences.
They are obviously trying to make the series way more "serious" and yet they completely tone down its foundational messages. Sure some of that has to do with the more actiony tone it took after RE4, but let's just back up to the original trilogy.
RE1, RE2, and RE3 were essentially a three-part and yet self contained story that followed a small cast of police officers (save claire and carlos) during the zombie apocalypse. An apocalypse that was caused by corporate greed and the need to capitalize and profit off of scientific research for militarization purposes. While a little silly and outlandish in the final product, the three games (especially 2, IMO) have great storytelling and execution of its themes. Umbrella and Raccoon City Police are corrupt, and there are terrible ethics surrounding BOWs.
Now compare that to the remakes. Now, RE1make is my favorite remake because it kept the original feel and look to the game, kept the story relatively the same, and improved on it in terms of voice lines, graphics, and gameplay. The only major change is adding Lisa Trevor, who I think is a great addition because we get to follow the Trevor family through the game and get a look at how Umbrella exploited them and made them into monsters, a personal touch on something hard for us to comprehend.
RE2make and RE3make on the other hand.... well now we have around 20 extra years of Resident Evil to influence these and if you're familiar with my blog, you'll know that story wise, I do not like these games (especially RE2make). These games changed so much of the original story to make them more "realistic" and in the process, sort of lost the plot. Too many times in the modern remakes, things happen that hint to something from the original games but overall? It's not there.
As an example, I want to go over specifically how the police chief Brian Irons is portrayed. In the original game, the player learns little bits about him through files. We know he's dangerous, violent, and has been taking bribes from Umbrella. The bribes are to help him have control over the city. He was highly influential in the Spencer Mansion cover up, where his main role was shutting down STARS so they wouldn't be able to investigate the incident. He worked directly with William and Annette Birkin and took bribes to prevent police from investigating the sewers so their lab work was undisturbed. In RE2, we see him spiraling because "Umbrella destroyed his beautiful town." He traps and kills police officers and innocent civilians, basically rants to Claire about how power hungry he is and he is the one who gets to choose who lives and dies in his police station. Basically, we see point blank that Irons is egotistical and wants nothing more than to keep that power for himself. A corrupt police chief who shows how money and power twist a person for the worse.
In RE2make, he is reduced to just a sick man who physically beats up the young female characters and just wants to torture people. While the bribes are still (briefly) mentioned in this game most of Irons' character is now "Look at how sick this guy is! Isn't he scary? Wow! He's so scary isn't he?" There's nothing about his need and desire for power and control over his city and police station (hell, he leaves the police station 3 seconds after he's introduced!). Sure, you could argue it's implied, but this is a perfect example of Capcom not really committing to something it strongly depicted in the past.
Looking at RE4 Remake, a similar issue occurs! The original game was vehemently anti-American. The file "Our Mission" is the most explicit you can get. Yet the remake tiptoes around it and honestly ends up more patriotic! Leon's role as a government agent is glorified, Ashley wants to be an agent, Krauser gets told off by Leon for not trusting the American government, and the lack of Saddler appearances all contribute to this! Death Island and Infinite Darkness had similar problems of Capcom calling out the American government but then backtracking at the last second. I want them to just stick to a theme for once! Not alluding to one or tiptoeing around it. Say it!
Next on the list is one that I've stated before but the actual ethics and humanity that organizations like Umbrella toy with. A lot of the BOWs feel just like monsters you fight when a lot of them were real people with their lives taken from them. This is also why I liked Lisa Trevor from the first game's remake since she was a human experimented on and we got taken through her and her parent's journeys. OG William Birkin and Remake William Birkin are also perfect examples of this. In the original game you feel like you're fighting Birkin, but in the remake it just feels like a depersonalized monster.
Similarly, I do wish some of the themes were done more tastefully, such as the whole eugenics stuff with Spencer and the Wesker projects. I don't think it should be completely scrapped but I feel like you can't just throw that into your games and barely talk about what it means lmao
This is not really a theme but better perspectives on the female characters. This is purely a personal opinion but I think horror with female protagonists is way cooler than ones with male protagonists, and weirdly enough I think this shift happened when RE4 came out. Jill and Claire were more fleshed out and important characters than Leon and Chris when the OG trilogy came out, but now their roles have been greatly reduced to practically nothing. And why was RE6, a game where a creepy man cloned Ada Wong more about Leon, Chris, and Jake than it was about Ada herself? Also, I wish we could've had either of RE7 or RE8 actually have Mia be the protagonist instead of Ethan because I think either of those games from her perspective would be super cool to experience.
Now that I think about this, I blame this purely on the action shift because even for the male characters, I greatly prefer OG2 Leon, OG2/CVX Chris, CVX Steve than OG4 Leon, OG5 Chris, and DSC Steve (although Remake Carlos is definitely above OG3 Carlos). I want to learn more about Jill, and Claire, and Ada, and Rebecca, and Mia, and pretty much most of the female characters, and I'm so sick of seeing the male characters who are only there because they're cool action heroes.
I wish RE focused more on small communities and small isolated things. I think RE is too big now. Like starting out in a small suburban town affected by murders and experimentation and now like we've gone to multiple parts of the globe and now there's a mold baby with mold superpowers in the future and that mold is actually what started everything (totally not retconned)?? Like let's dial it back.
For the last thing I'll mention is that I wish the remakes focused on the themes of horror rather than just the aesthetics of it. Like yeah, the games are a bit darker and scarier, but they're still more action games now. I loved RE7 because of this, because the Bakers were a good horrific family both in the looks and what they represented!
I think all in all I have a lot of wishes for the franchise and I know it's completely unrealistic to wish about them and sorry for bombarding everyone with this huge wall of text! I have a lot to say lmao

✨Simblr New Years Resolutions 2024✨
Ok, let's go with this ajsdjasjd
Tagged me uwu: @lynzishell (I don't know what to say, I like spaghetti, pizza, cachapa and hallaca(?)... Oh great, now I'm hungry ajsdajsd)
What's your Resolution for your Simblr?
Well, continue constant with The 10 Disasters, and start with The 10 Disasters Extra, I also have other stories that I want to upload here (It's legacy challenge a little changed, but it is a legacy challenge ajsjasdj), continue uploading makeovers, I have other projects, how to learn to use blender, not only to render, but to create my own poses or maybe also animations ajsdjas (get a job because I really need that graphics tablet) and probably get back to drawing, because I have wanted to draw my sims for a long time ahsdajsdj Only for now it's just a hand, with a pencil and a piece of paper qwq Start making gameplays, I just need to have a little more confidence… And a new laptop :v Make videos of how I do my makeovers, I want to start making machiminas! For some reason I want to learn how to use blender asjsdjasdj But I want to focus on making dance videos, opera concerts, orchestras, and the occasional video of everyday life jasdjajds God I have a lot of things on my mind! And what's missing!
What do you want from the Sims Franchise?
Rather, I don't want asjdajsdjas okno, cars, and open world (Even though I ran out of a laptop afterwards asjdja), as lynzishell said, I also want bands 😭😭😭. Personally, I want to fix the pronouns in my game, which don't appear (I'm very excited because finally my trans sims will be able to use their pronouns, and this happens to me 😭😭😭). Not only cars, but also airplanes, skateboards, motorcycles. AAH, DREAMING COSTS NOTHING! I would like babies to be able to ride in strollers and that wheelchairs could be included. Well… There are so many things, but I don't want to make the post long ajsdjasd
Any other New Years Resolutions?
Well, let's say that since last year I have been trying (I know I will succeed) to not let depression consume me as it had done these last 5 years, to be more organized in my stories ajssdjasd, to improve my English, to remain constant with my stories (Because I have several, not only of The 10 Disasters, there is also the extra, which tells stories of secondary characters and some other extra, there is the Robles Legacy, which I do have to update because I upload that on Tiktok ajsdjas)
Ok… I'll tag randomly as always (I like it like this, I don't know, I cover my eyes and tag asjdajsd): @aroundthesims @bbdoll @candysims4 @pamsimmer @aelestie @fleeblesim @geeky-simz @hazelminesims @nitrozem
If you have already done it or want to do it, do it(?) and if you don't want to do it, you can ignore it ajsdjaasdj I hope that this year you accomplish everything you set out to do, and if not, that's okay! It doesn't matter! The important thing is that you are getting closer to achieving it! Kisses❤

big old wordy post for anyone wanting to get into the layton series and support it in a slightly more legal manner loool
first off, the Original Trilogy. probably the easiest option is purchasing the first 3 games on mobile. yes, these are the full games that debuted on the DS but in HD with BONUS content.
Tumblr media
oh hey katrielle and alfendi. i guess mystery journey and mystery room are there too but i'll get back to those.
anyways, the layton series comes in different parts with some spinoffs. the first three as seen are Curious Village, Diabolical Box and Unwound Future. these are first in order of Release. so you can't go wrong starting here.
the next three that came after are the Prequel trilogy: Last Specter, Miracle Mask and Azran Legacy. this means even though they were released later, they take place before Curious Village chronologically. so maybe you want to make LS a starting point if you like that sort of order? LS was the last layton game for the DS while MM and AL were for the 3DS. this is where it gets difficult.
currently, Last Specter has no other port. if you search on something like ebay, you will see a clear price difference compared to listings for the original DS trilogy. and with renewed interest in the series, the amount of ppl looking for copies has probably grown too. so i don't recommend joining the fight unless you really love layton and physical media lol. i still probably RecOMmend finding another way to play it.
also my fav part of Last Specter is London Life!! a game within a game where you can create an avatar, dress up, decorate your room, get a job, fish, meet characters from the past 3 games (and a couple from Eternal Diva!) HOWEVER, London Life is only available in versions for Japan, US and Australia. if you have a European copy, you won't see it... so keep this in mind...
but before you get to the 3DS titles, you should watch the movie i mentioned earlier. what, a movie? YES! Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva! released in 2009 and takes place between Last Specter and Miracle Mask. it's animated in the game's style and comes with subs and dubs. you can easily look it up on youtube.
okay now you can move on to 3DS. Miracle Mask and Azran Legacy are available digitally in 3DS eshop but that is CLOSING MARCH 27 2023. physical copies are also expensive to acquire. they currently do not have mobile ports either.
there's another 3DS title available as well and it's a wild one. Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney! a crossover spinoff where you get to enjoy the gameplay of both series and the work done here would later influence some stuff they did in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles so you can check that out too. but i rec this title if you are already a fan of PL and AA so you can get the most out of the experience. if you hope to get this physically, be aware it's an extremely expensive hassle. otherwise, just grab it from the 3DS eshop for $29.99 before it closes or brew up another method at home.
Tumblr media
okay okay but what about Mystery Journey? well, the protagonist this time is Prof Layton's daughter Katrielle! her game's available on 3DS and mobile (with free demo) and there are extra purchases if you want more goodies. but you may want to consider the switch version instead. it comes with all DLC unlocked, extra outfits and nicer graphics. it also has some new and improved puzzles. why is that? well, some of the puzzles in the original release weren't popular. if you try out the mobile demo, you may notice a totally different vibe with the puzzles. well, why is That? sadly, the original puzzle master for the layton games passed away in 2016. Mystery Journey is a more divisive title so maybe don't make this your first layton adventure.
BUT WAIT! there's also a Mystery Journey anime you can watch! Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File! it goes through the events from Mystery Journey and MORE! yes, the story goes BEYOND the game!! it's only available in japanese though (but there are subs lol)
HOLD IT! there's one more mobile game to talk about. Layton Brothers: Mystery Room! this time, you follow Lucy Baker, a fresh detective constable assigned to assist Inspector Alfendi Layton, son of Prof Layton. this game is less about puzzles and more about investigation and interrogation. it's a freemium game, which means the prologue and first 2 cases are free. the rest of the cases are in-app purchases.
Tumblr media
if you've already played all these games, well congrats! now we just sit here and wait for New World of Steam
(and keep praying for Mansion of the Deathly Mirror lol)

POKEMON UNBOUND DOWNLOAD
Download >> https://pokemonunbound.net/pokemon-unbound-download/
Introduction
Hello, my name is Skeli and this is my only ROM hack. I started ROM hacking seriously in 2016 and have since written various ASM routines, created the Dynamic Pokemon Expansion for FireRed, and developed the Complete FireRed Upgrade together with ghoulslash. After a long time, I’m proud to announce that Pokemon Unbound is finally finished. There are now two fully functional versions:
The first is the main game, a story-driven game with complex puzzles that test the limits of your patience and endurance. Once you’ve completed the main campaign, there’s also a significant amount of post-game content to enjoy in the coming weeks.
The second version, called the Battle Frontier Demo, showcases Unbound’s combat engine by providing full access to the Battle Frontier. This version was created in the format of a mobile game, i.e. H. daily rewards, monthly payouts and unlimited playtime. If you enjoy fighting, you’ll find plenty to do with over 100 different possible fighting combinations. For a fair combat experience, I recommend choosing this version over the main game’s Insane difficulty – a difficulty designed for unfair challenges.
With that in mind: Have fun with Pokemon Unbound Download!
Story
Welcome to Borrius, a region rich with history. Centuries ago, the Borrian people were enveloped in a great war with a foreign land. When all seemed lost, the Borrian king summoned a powerful force to help turn the tide of battle. Unfortunately, the war ended in defeat when the king of the foreign land unleashed a devastating weapon. Disgruntled, the Borrian army returned home.
The people, now enraged against the Borrian king, attempted a coup by manipulating the dark force summoned during the war. The Borrian king was able to seal away its power, however, and the coup was thwarted.
Many years later, an organization known simply as the “Shadows” seems bent on releasing the dark force once again. Are they after the destruction of the Borrius region, or is there something else at play? It’s up to you to stand in their way!
Features
A Powerful Engine: Pushing the Complete FireRed Upgrade to its maximum potential, Pokemon Unbound contains a custom battle engine on par with Gen 8, as well as many quality of life features that improve the gameplay experience just waiting to be found. QOL Galore: Pokemon Unbound is also chock full of quality-of-life features to enjoy, such as Unlimited Bag Space, Auto-Run, the DexNav, Daily Raids and much more!
A New HM System: Have access to all of your favourite HMs without the hassle of carrying HM slaves! As long as your Pokemon can learn an HM, they will be able to use it in the overworld, and once you purchase the brand new key item – the ADM in the post-game, enjoy battling with all six Pokemon from your favourite team regardless of the HMs they can learn!
Updated Graphics: Sporting Gen 4 graphics in the overworld and Gen 5-esqe interfaces, in addition to a dynamic day and night system, Pokemon Unbound has a brand new, yet familiar feel! You’re not in Kanto anymore!
Difficulty Modes: Choose from up to four different difficulty modes! Ranging from Easy to Insane, you can either sit back and relax or get your teeth kicked in by a completely brand new AI system!

Whats ur fave monhun game and fave monster in the series? It can be based on the fight itself or aesthetics, whatever u want
for favorite game it’s mh4u hands down. it was technically my first monhun game but i quit playing it not long after i first got it lol. it was back in 2015 and little me couldn’t understand the controls and didn’t even want to try. quarantine made me try the rise demo and eventually buy rise, and while waiting for updates to come out for it since i got super into it, it reminded me that oh yeah i do recognize that series name, found my old copy of 4u, and fell in love. i wish i gave it a chance earlier than i did and want to strangle little me for not trying and getting mad over controls. old school monhun hits so different. absolutely nailed atmosphere and though i still really like where gen 5 took things, i feel like they’re proof that better graphics and models =/= automatically better experience. there’s a charm to older games that i don’t think will ever be captured and that just goes for where modern gaming has gone in general. 4u perfected the look while giving straight up some of the best locals in the series (i love heaven’s mount), the jank is never too, y’know, janky, generally the franchise has fantastic music but the use of wind instruments in 4u’s is mwah, i love the towns, i love the extra stuff, the story might not be the forefront but it’s really solid, the monsters are great, it’s such a damn fantastic game. (also being able to use items on the bottom screen is the best thing ever.) it’s dos 2 electric boogaloo. maybe the day i can finally get frontier to run properly on my pc since i know it’s hard to set up the private server stuff i’ll love it too since it’s also just more of dos and i think that’s a good sign.
favorite monster is so hard tho. elder dragons are inherently interesting and mostly well executed so it feels a lil cheap to say one’s my favorite but fuck it. it’s a three way tie.
while not an elder dragon exactly since it doesn’t have elder dragon status, i love chaotic gore magala. i love the magalas and their lore in general but chaotic amplifies all that. it’s not just the depressing nature of it but the concept of “hey what if this butterfly like monster doesn’t molt properly” is so interesting. sunbreak made it a lot cooler tho since wow it has an ecology intro finally and while the og fight is already one of the best fights it was improved a lot in sb. i don’t really like the sb version of its theme tho. og theme was fantastic the cover of it is pretty mid.
gogmazios is also fantastic. buildup is amazing. this really is the living embodiment of the industrial revolution’s consequences in my mind. lore wise yeah disturbingly cool. love the fight to death it’s perfect. also love the weapon designs especially for the greatsword. what else can i say it’s a big demon kaiju :)
and of course i love shantien. only issue is that i haven’t been able to properly fight him bc frontier technically no longer exists. i’d argue for most games you can get a near full experience from watching a playthrough, but for action games like monster hunter where there’s a lot of depth i don’t think watching gameplay footage gives it justice. (of course playing a game yourself provides the best experience possible in most situations too but especially nowadays it’s not that easy anymore. emulation isn’t as simple as i think people make it out to be either. it’s all based on preference but to me i like to play older console games on the consoles they were intended for whenever i possibly can.) basically i think that’s the only thing that holds him back from being my fave. if i ever get a private server to work and finally get the chance who knows he’ll probably beat out the rest of these guys. tbh it wouldn’t take much his design is amazing and his theme is god tier. those two things alone are why i love him.
honorable mention for this goober i just like because he’s super stupid

Haven’t picked up Second Light yet, how are you liking it so far? How is it compared to the first one? Is the music just as good?
It blows the first one out of the water in every regard.
There is an actual leveling system, so battles aren't virtually obsolete anymore. You can still break the game over your knee, but at least it'll take you until you're 2\3rds in to do so, rather tham basically from the beginning.
Crafting is no longer a superfluous extra that you could ignore for the entire game, and is instead an integral componemt of both the gameplay and story.
The atmosphere and characters are vibrant and well defined instead of being a collection of half-assrd extras. Ao, the new protagonist, is a fun driving force behind an absolutely delightful variety of interactions.
You now get improvement points from ALL requests by default, and from going on dates with your gal pals, which you unlock by building facilities, which you do by crafting - basically, the basic gameplay loop feels thought out instead of haphazardly thrown together.
Thankfully, the game isn't weirdly horny like the first one. No oddly voyeuristic camera angles, no seethrough uniforms on rainy days, the occasional swimsuit scene but it doesn't feel gratuitous like the first game's locker room sections, you feel me?
Anyway yeah the music still slaps. I greatly recommend playing Second Light. Especially if you, like me, are insane and managed to enjoy what little good the first game had to offer, then you'll probably like a game with actual thought anf effort behind it. It had some jank here and there and the graphics won't blow you away, but I think the gameplay is just serviceable enough as a conduit for the very fun character interactions. Without getting into spoilers, I'll just say that Second Light has managed to make it feel worth it to have sat through both the first game AND the super mid anime that they funded mostly with shoestrings.

Review #0002: Breakout (Arcade)
Another major release, coming 4 years after Pong. You can clearly see Atari (including developer Steve Jobs!) trying to perfect the genre of hitting balls with a paddle. With more sounds, more elaborate visuals and a high score format that I don't think has been done before and I usually love, you'd think that I would be raving about this one.
You'd think. Let me explain.
Graphics (4/5)
To start off on a positive note, I do really dig this aspect. This is a simple looking game, but it revels in that. The colors with the overlay are vibrant as heck. Keep in mind, expectations are pretty low for one of THE first microprocessor titles. In that regard, hell yeah is it an upgrade over Pong. Much like how the game itself is pretty much just a very expanded, altered version of that game.
Sound (3/5)
I'm gonna be a little harsher here and say that the sound is fine. As with the graphics, this is not the period of time where it can be judged very harshly. This sounds a lot like it's 'predecessor' and that's okay. It does what it's supposed to.
Didn't need the sound of an extra free play being the one of getting your molars drilled, though. That irks me. Couldn't it have been a high pitched beep or a fun jingle instead, Steve?
Gameplay (1.5/5)
Okay, here we go. Might be a controversial take, but in my opinion, this original iteration of the genre is anything but enjoyable to actually play. We all know how arcade games tend to be hard, very very hard. This one takes it to an extreme however.
The game is deceptive with it's low entry bar. You see bricks, you gotta destroy em with a ball that you bounce off a paddle, that's how it works. The ball gradually speeds up over time as you bounce it more, and that's where the problems start.
It may just be the fact that i'm playing on Switch and not in an actual arcade, or my lack of True Gamer Skill (trademark), but getting the ball to line up with the paddle at higher speeds is HELLISH. It is ridiculous to lose multiple lives in a row like that.
Even setting the DIP switch to give you 5 lives instead of 3 does nothing to help out. You're still gonna lose before you broke through to the top even once. I don't like that all.
My thing with video games is that I like the sense of improving myself, that it IS possible to overcome certain big barricades that prevent me from beating it. None of that here. It feels like a luck based mission that at some point becomes too fast for me. Save states do not help either. I'm done with it. I desperately hope the Atari 2600 version improves my chances.
Longevity (3/5)
Interestingly, this game seems to be the first to introduce a kill screen for when you play too well. ...Beating 2 screens was considered masterful at the time.
Because of the sheer difficulty and it being one of the first games to actually have more than one level, you can keep bashing your head against this one for a fair amount of time. It's a shame I do not have that level of dedication.
Overall
It's hard to understate this game's importance. It's concept holds up very well, and i'm excited to try out this game's ports and sequels. By all accounts, this seems like a true Atari classic.
Tumblr media
It sucks that this SPECIFIC, ORIGINAL version is sadly too far gone for one big reason. Me being bad at video games. It's the first game (out of ~30 i've played for this series) where I legit had to give up before the first hurdle. Sorry. We'll see you again soon, Pong 2.

Okay so I just beat REmake 4.
Here's a few quick thoughts
The introduction to the village is excellent and sets a perfect tone
Gameplay tweaks as well as the original's formula that is still used still work great. The REmake combat system is pretty tight, although it took me until the island to actually master the knife parrying system, mostly for the Krauser battles.
The treasure hunting is addictive, I got almost everything except some damn treasures in the village, I'm still mad! The shooting range minigame was EXCELLENT, I did not expect to be so immersed in it, I even actually sat down and got an S ranking on every single game! It actually helped me improve my aiming skills for the actual part of the game.
The graphics look amazing and the game makes great use of the PS5's DualSense controller.
I've said this before and I'll say it again; I'm glad the game is still camp as fuck. Yes, it's not as much as the original but it's also definitely not as depressing, grounded and soulless as, literally, almost every other narrative-driven modern game out there. This is so fucking refreshing to experience and I hope it starts a new trend of going back to cheesiness and camp as an alternative to all these non-entertaining but highly-applauded, for some bizarre reason, alternatives.
The Castle looks AMAZING, definitely my favourite area.
Leon, Ashley and of course The Merchant stole the show. Every scene they were in and saying their silly shit was entertaining. Leon's "swallow me whole" and the Merchant's "size matters... Or so they say, right" in particular got me so good 🤣
Krauser and Rámon were also done pretty well I think. Their actors did an amazing job. Krauser has more of a backstory this time and feels more like an actual person and not like a boss fight. Ramón himself looks more unhinged than ever, and both through documents by his caretakers as well as his quotes towards Leon during their battle we are able to see how the comments and treatment he received about his appearance actively influenced his hatred for the world and people. I think this is a very understated detail that adds a lot of depth to Ramón that I've seen no one talk about so far.
I know Luis is everyone's new bae and all, and that's great, but I honestly don't see the appeal. He's uglier than before, he's more annoying than before and he stays longer than before so nah, it's a no from me. They attempted to give him a bit of a backstory this time around but, ultimately, it's not impactful at all. He was also very unhelpful during the mine segment. I felt like he mostly just sat around and did nothing. He was pretty useful in the hut though and the el gigantes fight and he had a few good one liners, I'll give him that!
One thing that is present in the other two remakes as well but is especially annoying and noticeable in this one, is that when you move from one area to another, the lighting effects drastically change. It's like you change filters on an Instagram post or something lol
A little disappointed that Capcom is selling extra treasures and weapon upgrades as DLC again, and even more disappointed that they'll, probably, sell Ada's campaign as DLC... Hopefully that means they're gonna expand upon it though so at least we'll get more Ada. Hopefully...
Speaking of Ada, Lily Gao's performance was fine? Y'all are pathetic and miserable human beings for bullying her off the internet. Honestly. Is she my favourite Ada so far? No, I think Jolene Andersen is the definitive take on the character for me, but Lily gave a completely different approach to the character and, given how the whole concept of her dynamic with Leon is that they have both changed in certain ways after the Raccoon City Incident, it makes perfect sense? The previously innocent and inexperienced Leon is now hardened and cynical. The previously more emotional and alluring Ada is now more "matter-of-fact" and cold.
Overall I am very happy with the game and plan to instantly replay it. Nothing more that I can say.
Just buy it so Capcom can REmake more and get more of our money. I love capitalism

Sometimes I really want to read a short summary of what to expect from a game… and thankfully people can also submit their summaries of games they played and help me (and others) find games that cater to their interests!

what to expect from DISCIPLE: LIBERATION
Female main char. RPG in the sense that you level up the main char.
You have several companions with some decent backstory. You can engage in conversation with them to some degree. Some relationships between the companions occurr without being focused on the main char; for example, they can become couples or friends.
You can romance companions [or have a fling] without any limitation in the gender.
The main plot is what I enjoyed the most. It seems to reach the end three times, surprising you with a continuation of the game when you were expecting the end.
Combat is turned-based, but it’s quite entertaining, even if you are not a fan of it.
The game has two endings. The first one when you reach the end of it, activating new dialogue options for when you play it all over again. In the second playthrough you have these options in which the main char “remembers” how the situations will develop. The bad aspect of this is that it makes the second playthrough quite boring, since these unique dialogues are really few throughout the game, and the variation that they cause is minimal.
Faction system: there are four factions in this game: elves, undead, demons, and “religious” humans. Getting reputation with each of them allows you to improve the use of their units; this means, when you use units of the faction that likes you, it gives you extra boons during combat.
The game has decent graphics, mostly isometric.
It’s fully voiced.
 ——- Plot? ——-
You and your companion are mercenaries hired to kill a priest. You don’t know what is the motive of such assassination, but you don’t care. You just want to have the job done. When you try to kill this priest, enemies appear, triggering in the main character a skill to jump into a dimension where a celestial castle awaits her. In this place, she will learn that she is part of a bigger plot that will need the cooperation of all four factions to solve it.
——- Gameplay? ——-
Isometric exploration rpg, pretty similar to Thronebreaker. When you encounter a fight, the screen changes to a grid where turned-based combat happens.
——- Characters? ——-
The main char is a woman who can choose her class among six different ones. These classes can be magic-user, melee, or hybrid [a mixture of both]. By her side, you can find up to 9 companions.
 ——- LGBT? ——-
You can romance some of your companions. Their gender matters little. Along the game, the main char [who is a woman] can flirt with all genders and races, and even have orgies with demonesses.
——- Sadness level? ——-
Very low.
——- Happy ending? Deaths? ——-
You can pick several endings which are not too different. The most important ending is reached when you play the whole game a second time, giving you access to a new, unique last boss at the end.

I hope this doesn’t sound hypocritical because I like Engage, but I feel most people are blinded by the better graphics and animations. The Emblems are a mixed bag for me too; I like the strategy of working with their limits yet I also like having their skills always be there in 3Houses. I can always get canto on mounted units, use warp and siege spells, use healing battalions/fortify, bow classes always have extra range etc., Both have pros and cons when it comes to gameplay. Hope I made sense.
Nah, you're fine! It makes sense! I agree that it has a lot to do with the animations being better and smoother. The graphics are also way better, but I just don't believe that graphics make a game.
I do understand why Emblems are limited, mainly because they're busted and I guess they're supposed to be. Like you though I get annoyed at Canto not being a thing unless you inherit Canter from Sigurd which... eh. Maybe because of my Tellius loving ass, I hate not having Canto LOL. In RD even the birds get it by default, so I'm pretty used to having it.
The Emblems I think are the reason why a lot of normal aspects got removed, just to avoid the gameplay being even more busted, but if that's the case I think they should've just toned down the amount of assistance that the Emblems offer overall.
Like any FE game, they do have pros and cons and I think it did improve on some things from Houses, but there are always going to be things from Houses that were better for a lot of people. As a huge example, the lack of NG+ in Engage is extremely irritating for anyone I've seen talk about it, because there's a lot of effort put into things like bond levels and bond rings. Losing all that and starting from scratch just sucks.
In older FE games it's not a problem to not have NG+ because there's nothing that needs to be carried over, but Engage has plenty of things that could be. With the money system too, donations should've been carried over or we could've at least had the option for it (kind of like the Tales games' NG+ system, where you get a shop you spend points at before starting a new file with your carried over data. It lets you select what you want to carry over and you can leave other things and redo them, so it's not all or nothing and is really useful).
Also, at least for me, Engage has an okay story, but it's not super deep. The stuff with Alear is pretty hefty, but only a few characters actually have much to them. Most of them get a couple personality traits and that's everything there is to know about them. Coming off of Houses, that's a big ol' oofie. Like sure, FE7 isn't super deep and has a lot of pretty surface level characters, but it's not a modern game with way more capabilities and space. Engage isn't bad, it's just... a bit too bland for me I guess? The gameplay is a bit wonky for me too, idk how to explain that one as far as why. Maybe it's just that it's a bit too complex? Idk lol.
I mean objectively speaking, I think Engage really is just a mid game when compared to a lot of other FE games. There are some characters I do really enjoy and parts of the story I thought were fantastic. It all evens out into more of a straight line imo. I definitely don't hate it and I will take my love for my baby boy Alfred to the grave with me, and I will advocate for Alear/Byleth cuteness as much as I have to, but Engage just feels more like another FE entry and not anything groundbreaking, you know?

Review #0015: Surround (Atari 2600)
Oh my gosh, we're finally back on the quality train. Going back on the Dominos/Blockade train from earlier, this one brings that type of game to the homes and then some. This is one I also played with that same friend of mine I played Sprint 8 and Combat with, being I believe the only 2600 game we played that wasn't multiplayer only. But it might as well be just that, if it weren't for one mode- i'll tackle that one in a sec.
Graphics (3/5)
Not really what I call a looker, with the screen entirely consisting of the usual Atari numbers at the top of it and a bunch of squares that have to function as 'graphics' below. You hardly can get any more basic than this, except maybe for Basic Math's funny joke that became a reality.
I may be biased however in saying that I actually sort of enjoy the visuals of this game. It's got some charm to it. And not only that, one extra key element had to be thrown in there as well.
There's a drawing application built in! It's a very simple program, essentially just being Surround without any of the gameplay built in. The fact it's built into this already good game is dandy, though. If you like very simple pixel art, you'll get a kick out of it.
Sound (3/5)
It's a downgrade compared to Dominos having ASMR packed in, but complaining I ain't either. It's got funny boops as the snakes move around, that get increasingly high pitched and faster if you play on the speed-up mode. My friend called the colliding noise 'funny'. I'm neutral on those, but overall, this is simple yet reasonably effective.
Gameplay (4/5)
It's the proven enjoyable concept with extra modes crammed in for variety including doodling, that's all ya need to know. Strangely, some modes can not be played in singleplayer, though I assume it is because the relatively easy-to-beat AI could not be properly programmed to utilise diagonal movement and the ability to turn your line invisible.
Not much to say other than that it is a good time with friends, even now, if you throw it a softball. And doodling. Did I mention doodling?
Longevity (3.5/5)
Having a decent amount of modes, in combination with rock solid gameplay and... god I don't need to mention it again, ensures that this will last you a fair while for 1977 standards. Not an eternity like some of the previous titles with a 25+ modes unfortunately. One or two extra modes with more distinct gameplay would have given it an even higher rating. Alas, still a solid outing.
The Logbook requires you to curbstomp the AI to a pulp in order to get a 'Wizard' ranking. Not a very hard task, but I appreciate the tiny bit of extra life.
Overall
As far as Atari 2600 launch games go, this is the first non pack-in that I would still recommend for a quick bout or two nowadays. Snake (well, Blockade) ain't included on feature phones for nothing. It's a simple ass game that you can occasionally pick up and play if you feel especially bored.
Also consider the HUGE improvement this is over the arcade game if you ignore the sound. 10 points to win a match rather than 6, more modes, more inappropiate blocky drawings- Dominos really doesn't hold a candle to it.
It's nice to be smiley again, and it's only gonna be better from here. Awesome!
Tumblr media
I should start looking into adding half points and awards.
Update: I sure did it.
