really fun that my sis is a classicist and im a folklorist because she'll be saying something about homer and itll chime with my modern understanding of how oral tradition works and you get to re-situate these thousands of years old works in their position as like. ancient SUNG poetry when theyre too often studying the redactions as if theyre the object themselves rather than a redaction of the object which is NOT literature but ancient performance art and it becomes like 10x more exciting
