Basawan and Suraj Gujrati. Illustration from Baburnama or Memoirs of Babur, ca. 183-1530.
Baburnama is an autobiographical account by Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur, a descendant of Timur and the first Mughal king of India. The miniatures are from an illustrated copy of the Baburnama prepared for the author's grandson, the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Akbar’s commissions were divided up among teams of artists working at the court, and often two painters collaborated on a single image, in addition to the calligraphers. This particular illustration is attributed to Basawan, responsible for the composition and the drawing, and Suraj Gujarati, who painted it. The miniatures reflect the culture of the Mughal court at Delhi, and are important as evidence of the tradition of exquisite miniature painting which developed at the court of Timur and his successors. Timurid miniatures are among the greatest artistic achievements of the Islamic world in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.

Bandook Meri Layla
Chapter 1- Ram’s instinct
“Her art has so much aesthetic! It’s swinging between surreal and fictional, you can see where she picks the reality and where she adds something that can only be in books. I love her art and I was so surprised that she was here, in Delhi! I have only seen some of her shows back in Britain but then again, I couldn’t get the tickets. And I heard that some of her shows were also done in Calcutta and Agra. Not only her art- but she features various other artists. I have submitted my work to them though, back in London, I wonder if her team will pick up my work. Not only that, but-”
“Ok ok Jenny, we get it. You love the head and painter of the art show. But what’s her name?”
“Oh, no one knows that. She likes to maintain her anonymity. But it was once in an article that its a woman and her organization is called RC organization”
“Is anyone going to tell me what you’re two talking about”
Akhtar interrupted Jenny and Ram’s conversation. For the first time Jenny got to physically witness the art show of her favorite artist, and not just a feature from a magazine, book, or some other art show. And she just had to show it to Akhtar and Ram. Jenny knew they might not be that much of an art lover, but they would still appreciate the paintings and sculptures that have made a home in her heart.
They paid for the tickets when they reached the counter. Akhtar smiled at Jenny visibly shaking from excitement. As soon as they stepped in the room, Ram’s police officer instinct creeped in his head automatically. He shook his head, telling himself that sometimes it is fine to sit back down and not let his work interfere.
But the feeling won’t escape him- a feeling that something, something bad is going to happen. Ram looked around, some white men, some brown men were there. “Akhtar” Ram whispered, “keep Jenny close” . The latter man looked at his friend, peering in Ram’s eyes. There was a hint of concern. Akhtar wordlessly nodded.
Jenny was skipping from painting to painting, explaining details that she could find to a distracted Ram and love struck Akhtar. Her hair was curled and parted from the side, her gloves up till her elbows. Her eyes wide from curiosity and passion, a rosy color on her cheek and lips. Her dress was long and white, reaching till her shins. She held a matching blue bag with jaipuri kadhai. Jenny looked lovely that noon. Her milky white skin matched the contrast of brown shade canvas behind her and the glitter in her voice was a cherry on top. She was absolutely absorbed in this.
On the other hand, Ram was getting restless. There was something off about the whole scenario. A thin, white curtain he was looking through, as if one strike of a razor blade and all the sheets of lies would fall down. Was it the sneaky glances two of the “visitors” kept sharing? Or the one painting they were standing too close to in the auction collection? Or was it his paranoia? As Ram observed his surroundings, a white man approached Jenny. “The auction party will be arriving soon, ma’am. We request you to keep this one path clear for the arrival, and use the one on the left for your use” he said and Jenny nodded. “The auction party” Ram approached the man who was talking to Jenny. “Where are they from?” he asked. “It’s confidential, sir”
“And who’s selling?” The white guy gave Ram a suspicious look. “This organization, sir” he left with that.
As if on cue Ram heard someone cross the hall behind him and enter the path they were asked to clear. Before he could turn and see, he caught sight of a flying black saree pallu. There were many hurried footsteps, hushed chatterings and noises of cars. But one distinct noise, a noise that he could tell apart among a choir of hundreds. A gun off safety. But why would someone bring a gun to an art expo? There has to be something huge going off behind the thin sheet of lies. The hushed noises, sneaky glances, faint smell of smoke, a probable vip entering the place with guards- everything was overwhelming. And even if he was paranoid, he should be careful.
“What happened anna?” Akhtar asked Ram. Ram just smiled and nodded. “I am going out to get something to eat. Would you two join me?” This was one good way to get them out of this place. Ram was anxious and he didn’t want to put the lives of his friends in danger. Akhtar beamed and nodded, dragging Jenny outside. Ram gave one last glance around and led them out. As Akhtar and Jenny crossed the gates of the art expo, Ram called out. “I forgot something inside,” he said. “You guys leave, I will be right back.”
Ram looked at the positioning of the guards and suspicious visitors. He looked at the washroom board near the path. He quietly walked there, when another guard stopped him. “Just going to the washroom” Ram said, and the guard looked at someone behind Ram. When the instructions were clear, the guard moved away. Ram entered the hallway, sneaking his way to another connected room.
It was full of canvases and frames of paintings, nothing suspicious here. He could hear a fading noise of a conversation nearby, and all of a sudden, a man screamed. “We are not going to pay you even a cent! The shipment of arms was supposed to take place yesterday” He knew it. He knew something was wrong, the whole art expo was nothing but a faux stage for arms dealing. He exited the room, trying to find the source of the noise when he heard a distinct gunshot from the same room. Before he could react, he was grabbed and led out by the same guard.
Ram easily struggled out of the guard’s grip, pinning him down. “Civilians are to be rescued” the guard exasperated. Ram was about to knock the guard out when he was attacked by someone right on his head, when the one under him slipped away. As three more guards picked a fight with him, a white man dressed in black suit punched Ram. When Ram headbutt the man back, he knocked the white guy’s gun nearby. Another one knocked Ram out of his consciousness. In a fazed state, Ram could make out that he was thrown out of the art expo from the front gate and Akhtar probably caught sight of him. Ram stumbled back up, inching closer to the gates when the back of the place blew up to pieces with a loud noise.

A magnificent Qajar multiple portrait depicting the grandsons of Fath ‘Ali Shah in the Saf-e Salam, a Persian New Year (Norouz) procession. Attributable to the court artist ‘Abdullah Khan Naqqashbashi (Active 1800-1850), Tehran or environs, Iran, circa 1810-20.
When History was Writ Large: The Bartlett Monumental Painting of the Court of Fath ‘Ali Shah
By Dr. Layla S. Diba
Although single portraits were known to collectors and audiences and well-documented in the scholarly literature, largely because they were relatively accessible in European Museums, this was not the case with monumental paintings, which if they had even survived, were stored in Iranian museum basements. The most important evidence for their significance to the history of Persian painting was first presented in 1963 by the eminent authority on Qajar art, B.W. Robinson, who identified 18 paintings based on European travel accounts and divided them into three groups: battle, enthronement, and hunting scenes, all with the ruler at the epicentre of the composition. Subsequently, two enthronement scenes of Aqa Muhammad and Fath ‘Ali Shah in Sulaymanieh in Karaj were documented, a major battle painting was located in the Iran-Bastan Museum and a magnificent hunting scene appeared on the ceiling of the Rashtrapathi Bhawan (President’s Palace) in New Delhi. (B.W. Robinson, “The Court Painters of Fath Ali Shah, Eretz Israel 7, 1964, pp. 94-105; Wolfram Kleiss and Hubertus Von Gall, Der Qajaren-Pavilion Sulaymanieh in Karaj”, Archaeologische Mitteilungen aus Iran, 10, 1977, pp. 325-39; Layla S. Diba, “Making History: A Monumental Battle Painting of the Perso-Russian Wars”, in Pearls from Water, Rubies from Stone, Studies in Honor of Priscilla Soucek, Artibus Asiae XVI, 2, 2006, pp. 97-111 and ibid. ”Qajar Iran and the West: The Rashtrapathi Bhavan Painting of Fath ‘Ali Shah at the Hunt” in D. Behrens Abu Seif and S. Vernoit, eds. Islamic Art in the 19th Century, Boston, 2006, pp. 282-302).
Now, with the reappearance of the monumental painting from the Bonnet Museum we have enough evidence in hand to truly understand the scope and ambition of dynastic wall paintings of the era. The reappearance of this masterpiece in the art world and its wide dissemination will hopefully preserve it for future generations.

Madhvi Parekh, a self-taught painter from Gujarat.
“I don’t have to scrounge for ideas on what to make next,” said Parekh. “I was born and raised in a village. The ideas run through my mind like a film reel. The life forms inside larger creatures, like the king of the water, are like unborn children. We have seen cows calving, dogs having pups, it’s all part of village life.
”The influence of her life is apparent throughout the works in The Curious Seeker. Incidents and memories from her life in Sanjaya village in Gujarat, where she was born, filter clearly into a lot of the works. As do her experiences in the urban centres of Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi, where she has lived since she married artist Manu Parekh in 1958 (and where her daughters were born); and the art camps at Kasauli where she was invited with her husband, and exposed to the Weavers Service Centre; as well as travels to museums abroad since the 1980s.

The Function of an Interior Designer
You may form an opinion about a person's taste and preferences just by looking at their home's décor. The phrase "Oh man, the lady has outstanding sense in colours and style" is frequently used. Employ an interior designer if you want to receive the same compliments about yourself. Interior Designers in Delhi
Tumblr media
An artistic profession is interior design. A person with a keen eye for colour and knowledge of the many styles of architectural construction is an interior designer. They cleverly meld modernism with traditional culture. They utilise every room in the house to great effect to create a fantastic atmosphere. They can use their imagination anyplace, whether it is a workplace or their lovely home. You won't believe how reasonably they price their interior design and décor services either. Hire an interior designer if you want to make changes to the interior of your home. Your needs and budget will be understood by a professional interior designer. Tell them in advance if you have a particular colour in mind or a piece of art that you want to be tastefully displayed. They'll make room and make sure it's both aesthetically pleasing and useful. Interior Designers in Noida
But the designer will discuss with you first before deciding on the final design. These days, CAD facilities are used to create design blueprints. By using this software, the designer may demonstrate how the material he chooses will be used to improve the interior's aesthetics. The merging of hues would likewise be shown in a similar way. Ask the interior designer to give you a better notion if you feel that anything is not working out as you had hoped. Only when you give your approval will the begin. Quality is one factor that is heavily emphasised throughout the process of creating and choosing various items. The designer will work closely with the painter, carpenter, and buyer of the decorative materials from a reputable store to achieve the desired effects and outcomes in the room. Interior Designers in Gurgoan
Use an interior designer's services if you wish to renovate your house or place of business. Their assistance will assist you in calming your visitor's fears.

Painters all over India have always tried to capture the emotion within Indian cities or villages through their colorful strokes on the canvas. The historic interest, nostalgia, and historic appeal of these paintings make them popular among both art enthusiasts and common folks.

1. Mumbai City #2 by Debashis
Mumbai is the city of dreams. The city that never sleeps. Many artists and painters are enchanted by the beauty of this coastal city. May it be the infamous Marine Drive or Gateway of India, artists have always tried to capture the calmness of these places that make Mumbaikars forget about the chaos. This Indian art painting depicts Mumbai’s famous Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. This more than half-decade-old building always leaves tourists and Mumbaikars in complete awe. This painting captures the famous building in Mumbai. A must-buy for Mumbaikars.
2. Temple Cityscape by Mukesh Mandal
There are approximately 6.48 lakh temples in India. This painting depicts a fictional city that loosely resembles the northern cities of some areas of Varanasi and Vrindavan. The hand-pull rickshaw, crowded roads, and classic taxis give you a very rulery vibe, which is perfect to hang in a traditional-themed living room.
3. Harishchandra Ghat by Panchu Grami
Harishchandra Ghat is a real location and one of the best places in India that everyone should visit at least once. It is right next to the infamous Manikarnika Ghat in the ancient city of Kashi (Varanasi). The spiritual vibe of the city beautifully complements the calmness that it presents. This Indian traditional painting depicts the banks of the holy Ganga, a few ferries, and the ghat is a beautiful blend of traditional Indian art with a contemporary twist.
4. Red Fort by Yuvraj Patil
Also known as Lal Qila, the Red Fort resides in the heart of old Delhi. It is an architectural marvel that has attracted tourists and is considered a UNESCO world heritage site. It’s also a venue for flag hoisting on Independence Day and Republic Day. The Indian painting by Yuvraj Patil shows his depiction of this world heritage, especially with the colors he used.
5. Laal City by Sanjeev Mandal
Laal City by Sanjeev Mandal depicts the heart of West Bengal: Kolkata. This historic city was once the capital of British India. The city is a blend of warmth and cultural richness. Sanjeev Mandal has beautifully depicted a rainy day on a busy Kolkata street. The painting brings realistic detail to the city's unique architecture, providing a truly mesmerizing visual experience.

Manjit Bawa (1941 - 2008), a famous Indian artist studied at the School of Art in New Delhi and worked as a silkscreen painter in Britain, where he also studied between 1964 and 1971.
Often using animal imagery - tigers and lambs sharing the same space - Mr. Bawa sought to convey the message that people could coexist with animals in nature, said art critic Ena Puri, who wrote a biography of Mr. Bawa.
His canvases were distinguished by their colors - the ocher of sunflowers, the green of paddy fields, the red of the sun, and the blue of the mountain sky, she said.
"He was an icon, a person who was completely head and shoulders above his contemporaries," Puri said.
