El país de las cigarras

No soporto, en verdad no soporto a las personas que viven en las nubes sin ser conscientes del entorno que las rodea. Soy host de airbnb y de vez en cuando llega un huésped, hasta ahora siempre mexicano, que no lee ni las reglas ni las instrucciones de llegada.

Sucedió ayer, una chica de Ciudad Juárez que venía de Huasca de Ocampo de un retiro (hippie, deduzco), osó llegar a las 11 de la noche esperando que yo me parara de la cama para abrirle la puerta a la princesa. Desde temprano ese día le pregunté si había podido leer las instrucciones de llegada, le mencioné que la app de airbnb le facilita esta información y le pedí que si no la veía me avisara para compartírsela. 

En las instrucciones viene paso a paso cómo será tu llegada, te da la dirección de mi casa, con ubicación en Maps y paso a paso con fotografías te indica, la fachada del edificio, que el guardia te recibe, te registra, te toma una foto, que tienes que subir a mi depto, las instrucciones de la cerradura electrónica para poder abrirla y el código para que ingreses.

Además llegó acompañada de su  sobrina, porque solo iba a acompañarla a subir las maletas y luego se iban a cenar. Antes de confirmar tu reservación, mis reglas dicen que no se aceptan visitas, pero a la señorita su sobrina no le parecía que clasificaba como “una visita”. Le pedí que la esperara abajo en la recepción.

Llega a mi departamento y toca la puerta porque no tenía ni puta idea cómo entrar obviamente, me paro de mi cama, le abro y le pregunto que sino tuvo oportunidad de leer las instrucciones de llegada como se lo había pedido, dijo que “no le llegaron”, cuando no es que las instrucciones llegan, están en la app, punto. Le pedí que pasara a dejar sus cosas y que le enseñaba cómo funcionaba la cerradura electrónica. La señorita se indignó y me dijo que mejor cancelaba la reservación. Cómo gustes, le contesté y se fue.

Me acordé de una anécdota que me platicó un amigo cuando vivió en Inglaterra: estaba en el super y sin darse cuenta, se metió delante de una señora que estaba esperando en la fila para pagar. La señora se emputó y le dijo muy enojada que por qué se metía a la fila, que se fuera a la cola. Mi amigo se sorprendió de que la señora se pusiera tan histérica por un “descuido” de su parte, no había sido su intención meterse en la cola, fue un descuido y por tanto la señora no debía ponerse de esa manera. Así nos “han educado” en México, es mucho peor enojarse por una injusticia que cometerla, siempre y cuando no hayas tenido la intención de cometerla. La persona a quien se le cometió la injusticia no debe por ningún motivo estar molesta, le toca aguantarse la injusticia y además ser comprensiva con el agresor descuidado. 

Hay un cuento de Etgar Keret “El chofer que quería ser Dios”. Este chofer hace las paradas correspondientes para que suba la gente, y cuando alguien va corriendo porque va tarde, no los espera aunque los vea. La gente lo critica y piensa que es egoísta y desconsiderado. El piensa que por esperar una sola persona, luego todas las demás van a llegar tarde. Vale más el tiempo junto de 20 personas que el de una sola que por su propio descuido, salió tarde a tomar el camión. 

Y regreso a la frase con la que inicié este post, no soporto, en verdad no soporto a las personas que viven en las nubes sin ser conscientes del entorno que las rodea, no porque me importe si viven en las nubes o no, sino porque pasen por encima del trabajo que hice y del tiempo que me tomé para que su llegada sea sin problemas; por estar en las nubes no les da para pensar que yo soy una persona que renta una recámara y no una concierge, y por estar en las nubes, además de ya haberme tomado el tiempo para que lleguen sin problemas, tengo que pararme de la cama y explicar, paso a paso, en tiempo real las instrucciones de cómo entrar a la casa. Y además de esto, la persona en las nubes se indigna por que me molesté y esto le parece injusto. 

Este es sólo el ejemplo de algo que me pasó ayer, pero pasa todo el tiempo, todos los días alguien se te mete en la cola, alguien se estaciona en un paso peatonal, alguien se queda atravesado en el cruce por no detenerse un poco más atrás antes de que el semáforo cambie a rojo, alguien llega tarde a una reunión sin importarle el tiempo de los demás, alguien deja la caca de su perro porque, aunque siempre las recoge, ese día se distrajo y no vio que su perro cagó, alguien no se da cuenta que el sanitario se queda tirando y se acaba el agua de un edificio en un fin de semana, alguien no revisa las instrucciones de corte y echa a perder una producción con un costo de material de 40 mil pesos, más la mano de obra, más el tiempo perdido en pensar cómo rescatar la cagada, alguien no supervisa la obra y el metro se cae. El origen ese el mismo, no me doy cuenta de las cosas y como no fui consciente pues tampoco sería justo que se me señale como responsable.

Que si soy una persona rígida, puede ser, que incluso puedo caer en lo fascista, también puede ser. Pero no hay técnica psicoanalítica, ni libro de superación personal que tenga un argumento más fuerte que me convenza cambiar mi punto de vista. En lo que estoy trabajando ahora no es en cambiar mi argumento, sino en ver cómo chingados no me enchile el egoísmo e inconsciencia de estas personas. 

Siempre me incomodó la fábula que me tocó leer de la Hormiga y la Cigarra. La historia que llegó a mi de niña, terminaba con la Hormiga teniendo que ser comprensiva y compasiva con la Cigarra que estuvo de fiesta todo el verano. Nunca me pareció que la Hormiga que trabajó todo el verano tuviera que solucionarle su inconsciencia a la Cigarra. Hace poco me pregunté si esa versión “Disney” que me contaron de niña sería la original. Obviamente no, en la fábula original, la Hormiga manda a la goma a la Cigarra y ésta se muere de frío. Mi alma descansó ante la moraleja que quisieron imponerme de niña.
