Serving you guys part 5 of the ‘Successors of the Future’ today! Oh god, I procrastinate this oneshot like you wouldn’t believe it! Honestly? I’m not too happy about this piece but the plot must keep moving.
In this oneshot, the names of Leona, Ace and Deuce’s kids will be reveal! I did my best to keep their names within the card games theme and overall, I think they turned out ok. I went with the deep meaning name for Leona’s son. Kudos to anyone who manage to figure out the meaning behind them!
This oneshot can’t begin without us thanking the great @tri3tri for her amazing Second Wive AU. Please drop by at her blog to see even more yandere!Malleus content.

“Well... you certainly are MC’s daughter, Renata-chan.” The headmaster sigh tiredly. Behind his mask, Crowley narrowed his eyes at the three students sitting across his desk. Said girl is at least apologetic (Crowley assumed she is, because she can barely look him in the eyes), the two boys with her - Hoyle Trappola and Rex Spade are just seconds away from passing out from sheer exhaustion, sporting scorch marks on their face, hair and uniforms.
Crowley resists pinching the bridge of his nose in irritation. And to think, his day has been going on so well too. He had finally managed to complete all of his paperwork before the end of the month, the teaching staffs aren’t passive-aggressively bickering with one another for once, and the cook in the cafeteria even left the last dessert of the day just for him!
And then came Professor Crewel kicking his office’s door down, dragging three rowdy puppies behind him and a report about scorched marks on pavements and fountain due to misconduct of magic.
When Crowley leans to the side to see which students were responsible, he could only sigh. Was it too much to ask for this generation of Trappola, Spade and MC/S not to inherit their parent’s ungodly habit of getting into trouble!?
So here there are now, three students waiting for punishments. At that moment, Crowley felt as if he was transported into the past as he stares down at them.
Crowley folded his arms across his chest and said, “Professor Crewel reported your misbehaviours and the damages done. Now, what I want to know is how this happened.” Silence. “Well? Would anyone like to share the story?”
Almost instantly, the young Spade spoke up. “It’s all Hoyle’s fault!” An indignant hiss of, “Shut it, Rex!” interrupted him, but the boy ignored it and pressed on, “He dropped a food tray on MC/S-san when she was eating.”
“Oi! I told you already! It was an accident, alright!?” Young Trappola is quick to defend himself, disgruntled about the whole affair. Beside him, Renata just rolled her eyes. Despite looking so much like her father, she’s surprisingly expressive with a lit fused of a temper.
“An accident? While young Trappola did commit a mistake, does it warrant an... explosive reaction, MC/S-san?” Here, Crowley stares pointedly at the girl.
Renata sigh. “No, headmaster.”
“In the future, please restrain yourself MC/S-san. Now then, punishment.” The three of them groaned, and unimpressed, Crowley tilt his head at them. “Keep that up and I will extend your punishment to a month.”
The teenagers straighten up after that. Good. So he continues.
“The three of you will be cleaning the Hall of Mirrors starting tomorrow, right after your last class of the day. Now, because the damages are only minor, your punishment will only be for a week. If I catch any reports that the three of you misbehaving again, I will extend the punishment. Is that clear?” Crowley demanded.
“Yes, headmaster.” The three of them drone simultaneously.
And with that, Crowley dismisses them. Once the door is click shut, voices are raised outside - the three of them are bickering again - before footsteps carried them away.
The headmaster could only wordlessly shake his head. Looks like he’s in for another rough few years until these three graduated.
Just like old times.
Outside at the quiet hallway, the only noises that can be heard this evening are Hoyle’s heated complaints, Rex’s put out sighs and Renata’s outwardly annoyance (in the inside though, Hoyle’s flying food tray was a pleasant surprise. Sometimes, it’s nice not to use Observer all the time).
“Quit your complaining already, Hoyle.” Rex interjects when he could no longer tolerate his whining. “At least the headmaster didn’t expel us!”
“Yeah, yeah. And you!” Hoyle said and focused his attention on Renata. She raised an inquisitive eyebrow when he glares at her. “This is not just my fault, you know! Got anything to say about that?”
Renata nodded, her face turned serious though her lips struggle not to twitch into a cheeky grin. “Yes. Dodge better next time.”
Rex gapes at her, incredulous and certainly not expecting that comment while Hoyle bristles.
“This is going to be a long week.” Rex muttered as Renata pretend to be nonchalant when Hoyle demanded an apology.
True to his word, their week shaped up to be rather long and busy. Not only did the three of them were reprimanded by the headmaster and their Dorm Leaders, they also had piles and piles of homework and club practise on top of their punishment. By the time Thursday roll by, they were ready to collapse from exhaustion.
Tonight, Rex had to drag Hoyle by his arm as they head towards Heartslabyul’s main mirror that leads to Hall of Mirrors. A few of their dorm members watch their shenanigans with amusement while others snickered; it’s practically known throughout their dorm of their punishment.
“For fuck’s sake, Rex, lemme go! Why can’t we let Renata clean the mirrors tonight for once!?” Hoyle exclaimed, doing his best o wrestle his arm free but surprisingly, Rex is a lot stronger than he lets on.
“Do you want her to complain to the headmaster that we’re slacking off?” Rex suggests. “And extend our punishment? Look, the sooner we can finish off cleaning the Hall of Mirrors, the sooner we can have our free time again.”
“I hate that you make sense.” Hoyle grumbled but decided not to argue any further.
When they step through the mirror, they found that Renata is already there, waiting for them. Her back was facing them, and she’s currently talking to... no one.
“ - was ok. I mean, with all things considered and I didn’t use any of my spells so shut up, Cherry.” A voice - it sounds like a woman - chatter back. “It’s just cleaning the mirrors of the seven dorms, no big deal. Mm-hmm, I promise not to throw fire at people next time, Mama.” The woman - apparently, Renata’s mother - said something, but it’s muffled. “Will do, Mama. Goodnight, I love you too.”
Renata put something - not a phone. It’s too small to be one - into her blazer’s pocket and turn around.
She greets them, “What kept you guys? I already swept the floor and dusted the walls.”
“This one wanted to ditch.” Rex reply, pointing a finger at Hoyle before he grabs the mop and bucket.
“Oi! You didn’t have to tell her.” Hoyle snapped.
“Uh, did you think on how that’s going to be for you if it’s only me and Spade-san doing the cleaning?” Renata asked, looking and clearly judging how many brain cells he has.
Hoyle just told her to shut up and picks up a wet sponge from a spare bucket filled with soap to start cleaning Scarabia’s mirror.
It’s quiet as they clean up the Hall of Mirrors. As Rex mop the floor, he could see Renata focusing on her task in wiping the mirror that he and Hoyle just used. During the Entrance Ceremony, he could only catch a glimpse of her from the back of the crowd, confused as to why his seniors are mumbling and commenting about her appearance.
Only the blind couldn’t see how beautiful the girl is. If Rex is the poetic sort, he would liken the night of a full moon and stars to her. But honestly, other than her pretty face, he doesn’t understand why their seniors tend to give her a wide berth whenever she walks by.
Hell, he even noticed that her own dorm members are polite yet strangely distant with her.
Rex wonders if she’s lonely. “So, uh, you’re pretty good with magic, huh MC/S-san?” He blurted out. He surprises himself at his sudden boldness.
Thankfully Renata didn’t find it strange or awkward. “More or less. Magic always fascinated me, even when as I was a kid. I’ve been testing the limit of my magic ever since.” Pleased at herself when Heartslabyul’s mirror gleam under the bright light, she moves on to Savanaclaw’s.
“What about you, Spade-san?” Renata threw his question back.
“It’s alright, MC/S-san! You can call me Rex.”
“Ah, then please call me Renata. Since you extend the same courtesy and all.”
An easy conversation flow between them after that. Occasionally, Hoyle would join them, his brand of sarcasm or snarkiness here and there but overall, it was nice to talk to him. And when he threw a rather malicious teasing to Renata, she threw right one back. It strangely morphs into a playful banter between the three of them.
Cleaning felt less like a punishment after that.
-
When they finally reach the final day of their punishment, something happened.
While Hoyle and Rex shared the same class - 1-A - Renata is in 1-B. And it just so happen that her negligence came to bit her in the ass.
After History lesson ended for class 1-A and Hoyle was the last one to leave due to Professor Trein holding him back to talk about his recent subpar assignment, a Heartslabyul student from 1-B called him out.
“Extra assignment? This is the worst...” Hoyle sigh in dejection once he finishes reading the piece of paper given to him by the teacher. Dangling the piece of paper in low spirits, Hoyle resigned himself to many, many trips to the library so this extra assignment can boost his grade from F to a D.
So lost in his thought, he completely missed that his name being called. It was only when a student - his dorm member - grab his shoulder that he broke out from his train of thoughts.
“Hey, you’re Hoyle Trappola, right? The one that was nearly flambé alive, yeah?”
Hoyle bristle. Is that what people are calling him now? The flambé dude? Urgh, this is seriously all Renata’s fault! “What do you want?” He snaps. Unfortunately for him, the Heartslabyul student was unfazed of his bad mood.
“Listen, I need you to do something for me. I shared the same class as that Diasomnia girl, 1-B. Earlier today she left this in class.” Hoyle’s dorm member explain and showed him a plain-looking journal. “She left quickly and when I saw her at the Main Street, she was with Bakari Kingscholar. Anyway, I just thought that since you and Rex are cleaning the Hall of Mirrors with her, you can give this back.”
“Why are asking me to do it? You just said that you saw her at the Main Street!”
“Yeah and with Kingscholar. I couldn’t approach her; not when that guy glared at me and my legs froze up. So here you go!”
And with that, he shoves the journal into Hoyle’s arms, making him fumble with the paper and journal before they could drop. “Oi! I’m not doing your fucking errand - ” Hoyle shouted, but by then, his dorm member had long jog off with a cheerful wave goodbye. “Seriously... this is so not my day...”
As Hoyle made his way to the library, he absentmindedly flips through the pages of the journal. Not all care that it was rude to rummage through others’ belonging. Notes about various classes mostly filled the pages; others are just mindless doodles that the girl probably drew out of boredom.
“Isn’t there anything good in here? Something that can knock her off her high horse maybe.” Hoyle murmurs to himself as he continues to flip the pages. Rex might be willing to let it slide that it was Renata that landed them in trouble with the principle but not him. Hoyle felt that a prank would even the score between them.
By the time he scored himself a nice, quiet table in the corner of the library, he reaches to the last page of Renata’s journal. His eyes widen at the sight of a strange rune that took up the entire white page. There were even some notes written around it. “Well, well, what is this? Communication rune? This looks interesting...”
Later that night as Rex was about to step through the mirror, he felt something... not quite right. Perhaps he ate something bad during dinner. His uneasiness is not going to dampen his high spirits though. Finally, tonight is their last day of punishment! Tomorrow they’ll be free humans!
“Yo, Rex! Glad to see you show up before MC/S.”
Hoyle greets him with a wide grin, standing in the centre of the hall.
“Oh, you were here first, Hoyle? Did you start cleaning?” Rex was surprised that Hoyle actually took the initiative to start their chore before them. Rex’s heart is touched. Maybe Hoyle isn’t all that bad -
“What? Forget about cleaning, check out what I have!”
Nevermind. Rex takes it back.
Hoyle didn’t hesitate to drag the unimpressed Rex close to him and shove a piece of folded paper in between his eyes. When he unfolded it, Rex is confused. Someone had drawn a rune. Now, Rex doesn’t know all that much about runes and their inner workings, so he has no idea why Hoyle has this with him.
“What is this? Your homework?” Rex asked, his face scrunched up. “I don’t remember seeing this in class.”
Hoyle rolled his eyes. “It’s not homework. I found this in MC/S’s journal this morning and tried to checked all the books about runes and stuff in the library but nothing came up. How crazy is that!” He excitedly explains, eyes shining brightly.
Rex didn’t share his enthusiasm, however. “You stole Renata’s journal?” His eyes are wide in disbelief. He threw the piece of paper back at Hoyle who easily catch it. “Do you want her to burn you again!?”
“What she won’t know, won’t harm her. That is, if you keep this between us.” Hoyle reply, narrowing his eyes at Rex in a threatening manner.
Rex just throws his hands up in exasperation. “She’s going to find out when she realised that her journal is missing! Look, just put put that thing back and - ”
“Hell no. I want to test this out. Aren’t you curious too?” Hoyle demanded, and that’s when Rex notices that he has a marker pen in his other hand. “And beside, I’ll give the journal back to her once we find out what this rune does.” He then walks around him towards the Heartslabyul mirror and starts drawing.
“W-Wait! It’s against the rule - ” Rex stammers out, but Hoyle quickly interrupts him.
“Rule 809: One should not vandalise Heartslabyul’s mirror. Yeah, yeah, I remember. But this - ” Hoyle stops drawing to gesture at the marker pen in his hand “ - is not a permanent. So I’m not technically breaking any rules if I can just clean it up later.” He answered with a nonchalant shrug.
Rex paused to ponder. Well, Hoyle put it that way... More than that, Rex is baffled that Hoyle remembers that particular rule of their dorm.
“Done!” Hoyle huff proudly before taking a step back to admire his handiwork. He briefly glances at the paper and then back to the mirror - it’s a perfect copy. The two boys watch as the surface of the mirror ripple once before the rune vanishes, and the mirror becomes pitch black.
“Whoa... I’ve never seen any mirror in Night Raven College look black before.” Rex said in awe. He gently and carefully presses his fingers on the surface, and it pushes through. “It feels like any other enchanted mirrors though.”
“It’s not suppose to lead anywhere. According to the notes, it’s a communication rune.” Hoyle explains. “But there’s no such thing as communication runes so this must be something that MC/S came up.”
Rex’s eyes widen at Hoyle’s theory. Runes are notoriously one of the hardest subjects ever in all of Twisted Wonderland. She mentioned that she’s been experimenting with magic, but Rex didn’t expect that she could do something like this!
Suddenly, Rex’s awe quickly turns to horror when something yanks his fingers into the mirror.
“What the - ”
“Rex!” Hoyle shouted and grabbed his arm to pull his back. Rex’s arm is inside of the black mirror! A powerful tug completely yanks the two of them into the mirror and the surface return to normal.
The next thing they realise is that they’re now in the mirror.
And that’s how Renata found them; a piece of paper with her rune on it and rex and Hoyle pounding furiously from the inside of the mirror and screaming at her to get them out.
“For fuck’s sake you guys - ”
Needless to say, the three of them are in for a long night.
-
“So you finally decide to show up? You kept me waiting for an hour. I love to hear your excuse - why do you look like shit?”
“Shut up, Kingscholar. I don’t want to hear it from you.”
“...Right. Any reason why there’s Heartslabyul students in my mirror then?”
“Whoa, so this is how it looks like inside of the Savanaclaw dorm!”
“I, uh, didn’t expect that you like to do homeworks in, uh, Kingscholar’s bedroom, Renata-san.”
Bakari glares at Renata who just look tired and supporting heavy, black eye bags. The girl in question refused to look at him.
-
And there we go! This is the start to Renata, Hoyle and Rex glorious friendship and shenanigans. Their friendships mirrored their parents except the kids are lot stronger; magically-wise. I’m fleshing out their characters and Unique Magic as we go along the series but so far, I have a pretty good idea how I want them to turn out.

Four, just Four
This is the fourth installment of my fanfiction that is twisted (hehe) from @tri3tri 's Second Wife AU, Tempest.
I have reached peak procrastination, and will continue ignoring my requirements until I have no choice than to do them, don't be like me, I have really bad habits.
To Florius, it was the first time in his immortal life that he was ever startles by a mere question. His golden eyes moved over to the freshman, he had a relaxed aura around him but his (e/c) eyes had lost it's glow making him look eerie.
"Hm... what do you want to know, surely you aren't interested in everything?" Florius' curiosity for the freshman had peaked even further and he was very much getting more interested in him
"Yeah you're right Florius-senpai, I wanna know who rule the Valley of Thorns." quick and calm
"It's a monarchy, like most kingdoms in Twisted Wonderland. The ruling family is the Draconia family and they're direct descendants of Maleficent."
"Maleficent?"
"One powerhouse of a magician she's one of the top five magicians in all of the lands."
"Is that so? Then did she use to rule over the Valley of Thorns?"
"Yeah, it's now passed down to her grandson, Malleus Draconia, he's also a part of the top five."
"Malleus..." Lucien felt an overwhelming amount of pressure when the name rolled off his lips
"Mhm, well right now the family has I think at least six members. Maleficent, Malleus, Malleus's parents, his concubine, Bellatrix and their son the heir, Victor..."
"A concubine? What about the queen?" Lucien said getting more interested in the royal family of the Valley of Thorns
"Well yeah, there is a queen, no one really knows anything about her though, not her name or what she looks like, nothing. Malleus seems keen on keeping the queen inside of the Valley of Thorns."
"Do they have any children?"
"Hm... now that I think about it, there are rumors that they have two daughters, one leading their military and the other leading magic studies. But it's weird, those two girls are older than the heir, they don't discriminate the gender of the heir in the Valley of Thorns, I wonder if anything happened."
"I see... then, thank you Florius-senpai, I will be going now..." Lucien said before walking back to his cottage
"I don't know why, but he seems a bit familiar... must be my memories getting mixed up, I am starting to get older after all..."
~
Lucien walked to his cottage in deep thought, he felt like he had spent an eternity to get there.
Malleus Draconia.
He remembers his grandmother wheezing that name after her nightmarish vision.
Is that person supposed to be his father? A sick psycho? One who just couldn't let go of an obviously hurting person? His behaviour is akin to that of a zoo keeper ignoring the sick animals.
Lucien couldn't take it, he wanted to do something, but being patient is a virtue, he should formulate a plan to get them out of that cage. He just regrets his stupidity when he forced himself to forget what his family looked like.
He sighs.
It seems he has to take things into his own hands.
~
The gloomy atmosphere of breakfast spoiled her appetite. Sitting beside her sister, who seemed like she was about to die of boredom. Infront of her was her father's concubine and infront of her sister was their half-brother, deeming them boring, the black haired lady looked over to one side of the long table and a monotonous scene greeted her eyes. Her father, in all his glory just staring off into the distance, he had barely touched his food and she was sure it was already ice cold.
"Renata, your mother didn't come down for breakfast."
Renata perked up when she heard her father mutter those words before she relaxed a bit and took a bite of her food.
After chewing for a painstakingly long time, she said "I don't know what is happening with mother, because it seems like someone is preventing me from meeting her." her response was as sharp as a whip as she glanced at the lime green haired guard beside her father
She heard the chair beside he screech indicating that her sister had had enough boredom and was ready to just leave.
"True, how can we know what mother does when some ridiculous person prevents us from even saying a hello. It's been like that for a few days, dear Father." hidden malice dripped from Sherry's mouth as she walked to the door of the dining room
Renate followed closely having enough of the sour soup that was served and shut the door with force.
"Waka-sama! Those two are getting out of hand, you should try to punish them." the lime green haired guard said in a small harsh whisper
"Now, now, Sebek, they are rather tame today. Also Victor, we are truly sorry for requesting for you to have breakfast here when you have just started out classes at Night Raven College. We'll prepare a mirror immediately." the deep polite words of the ancient being eased the people in the room
"Mhm."
"I am sorry, Lillia-sama!"
The ruby eyed Fae looked off into the open window. He sighs, he had a feeling that a great storm would pass over soon.
The two sisters walked synchronized, each carrying malice towards the king. They separated ways and left to their respective posts.
The lime green haired guard's gaze hardened, those two girls! They don't act like the princesses they were supposed to be. He knew that that woman was the worst person his lord could have children with, their children are uncooperative and rude.
The concubine bade her son good bye as he was escorted to a mirror leading to Night Raven College, she held a small smile in her youthful face, proud that her son was chosen to go to Night Raven College, just a bit angry that he was sorted into Pomefiore and not Diasomnia.
The heir clenched his teeth together, even when he was there, his father only talked to his daughters! What was the point of him being there?! Just an afterthought? No, he was done being an afterthought.
The king stayed silent before he sighed. It had been ten years since he got his wife and children back, they had tantrums even worse than this, but why does he have a sickening feeling like it's starting to get worse than this.
~
Lucien's lessons were surprisingly easy for him to comprehend, sure it had been only a week, but he was sure that he could survive. But one thing he wasn't so sure about was money. He wasn't able to find a place to convert his money to madols so he was basically broke. He wasn't so sure on how to gain money though.
Lucien walked around the campus after school to try to rack his brain for ways to get money.
Sell stuff? No, the school already has a school store.
Try to become a servant to one of these princes? No, he's very used to having his whole day to himself.
What could he do?
"Hey! Hey freshman!" realizing that the voice was referring to him, he quickly looked behind to see a short male with black hair and porcelain skin
"Ee- yes?" Lucien gave a lopsided smile making the other male's eyes sparkle
"Ohh! So it is true! You really are handsome! Why not join the Modeling Club?!" he said, extreme optimism exuding from his straightforward request
"Eh? Uh, I don't really think I'm cut out for that kind o-"
"You can earn money in this club."
"!"
"As I said, Lucien-chan, you can earn real money through this club, you need money don't you? Oh and also I'm Noel LeBlanche, a second year here." he gave Lucien a knowing smile making Lucien just look at him like he grew two heads
"LeBlanche-Senpai. You're right. I need money, so I guess I join the club?"
"Hm... LeBlanche-Senpai sounds weird, just call me Noel-Senpai or... Noel-chan?" he said using one of his long porcelain fingers to rub Luciens left pec through his uniform as he smirked a little
"Noel-Senpai!"
"Fine~ suit yourself. Well then, I'll bring you to the club room so you can start earning money as soon as possible!" he said grabbing Lucien's hand and just running off with him in tow
Lucien felt powerless in Noel's hand, he felt like paper just being aggressively carried by the wind, or in this case, Noel. He feels like he's going to barf.
~
The blond freshman entered his cottage with a tired face, he came back from club work and was exhausted.
He looked over with a smile to his friends desk to see that Lucien was missing and he screamed.
"Lucien! Where are yo?!-"
"Brier-sama, he's over there." the newly showered Linden said gesturing over to the first years bed
"Eh? But he always did his homework at his desk after classes."
"Well, he recently joined a club." Hawthorne said popping up out of nowhere, dispite that, it phased no one
"I can't really see a club exhausting someone that much..." Brier trailed off
"Yes, but we have to take account that Lucien has half the energy and motivation of a regular human, so club activities will definitely tire him out." Hawthorne said while Linden nodded
"Oh, is that so? Well we should prepare some tea to boost his energy! Let's go Hawthorne! Linden, you can watch over Lucien if you want!" the two louder cottagemates sprung to go to the central cottage to get some tea ready while Linden approached Lucius who layed pitifully exhausted on his belly
"I do wonder what club you joined." he said after crouching on the ground and rocking a bit
"The Modeling Club..." Lucien managed to wheeze out
"...You have my condolences..." Linden muttered unceremoniously while Lucien wheezed like a dying alpaca
Lucien's mind drifted off to what his life did for the last two hours.
~
"Ohh! You really are handsome!" a boy with lovely blond hair and glowy brown eyes said, he greeted Noel and Lucien when they came inside the expansive club room
The clicks of cameras, people practicing their walking, eating snacks together, taking selfies on their phones, gave the club room an energetic feel and was something Lucien didn't expect at all.
"Lucien, this is Asher. He's the vice president of the Modeling Club!" Noel gestured to the blond haired boy which Lucien greeted
"Nice to meet you Asher-senpai."
"Ohoho! The rumors were true after all! This one's a dandy! Alrighty, let's get you camera ready! Give him something like a suit!"
"Eh! Right now?!"
"Yes right now Lucien-chan. Today will be the start of your blossoming modeling career ;) ~"
~
"That's how I got to model outfit after outfit for two hours."  Lucien said whilst eating up the soup Brier and Hawthorne got for him
"Ohh! I heard about Noel-senpai, he's a really big influencer! No doubt will people start to flock you when he posts picture of you!" Brier said
"Mhm, Noel is pretty cool." Hawthorne said while whistling
"I only really joined for the money..." Lucien confessed
"Eh? Lucien, you are a person who calculates everything, but you accepted for money?"
"Well, I am broke, it's more for security than actually spending, but I feel like I made a big mistake."
"Mhm, thinking of Lucien-san's personality, you definitely won't catch a break." Hawthorne said monotonously
"What's with that monotone expression?!"
"Hmm, well, since Lucien-san is handsome, I wanna see what the pictures look like." Linden said with a small, knowing smile
"They'll be posted tomorrow from what Noel-senpai said."
"Mhm! I look forward to seeing them!"
So, um, I just realized that there was a limit for posts. This was just like 23 pages in Samsung Notes. Yeah, so I had to cut down the last part but okay man.
Alrighty, we finally get some tea about the Valley of Thorns and boy was I like lollollollollol when I wrote this down yesterday.
That's most of it I guess, so part one of chapter 4 or just chapter 4 and the rest will be part of chapter 5, yeah, I guess it has to be like that. Frick this is going so fast and it's still Lucien's first week of classes, gotta slow down a bit.

A works based on @tri3tri’s Draconia series, specifically the SW AU. It doesn’t follow canon, since I see Victor being between the human equivalent of 6-9, at which point in the AU she had escaped, but none the less here’s a short drabble.
Two Sides of the Same Coin
You’d once admired the skies of The Valley of Thorns. Though most of them gloomy and dull, you could’ve spent hours watching the rolling clouds in shifting shades of grey, there’d been a beauty to them. But those days had long since passed, how long it had been, you didn’t bother to count anymore. Your time spent in a splendid castle, but cold and empty, the chill of your so-called home was amusingly fitting for a place housing such a family. He’d wanted perfection, but as he always did he managed to destroy any chance of happiness for those around him in his pursuit of it.
You had tried, god had you tried to raise your daughters away from their father’s twisted views. But when it came to it, Malleus was a stubborn and forceful man guided by the cruel hand of Lilia, you had no chance to keep them out of their lives totally, and you weren’t naive enough to not see Renata’s resentment of him growing day by day. The little girl that had once been full of smiles and expectation now a young child that expressed nothing but bitterness towards the place she lived, and it scared you. Malleus has a way of ruining everything, and now that was extending to your children, you didn’t want it to happen, you didn’t want to see Renata consumed by her anger towards the unfairness of the courts, and what of Sherrie? The wild child she was, she needed freedom, but how long would it be before her father feared losing her and locked her in the castle as he had you, trying to preserve her youth and the family he had made.
Your fear was rearing its head once again, and you had no-one to speak to. There was no-one you could trust within the castle walls with your troubles, all of them would report to Malleus if you so much as breathed a word of doubt, so as you always must, all you could do was lock it away inside herself. With the girls busy, all you could do to distract yourself was walk, the sound of your heels against the stone of the corridors your only company. To most it would’ve sounded like a lonely prospect but to you it was a rare moment of peace, no Malleus pushing to spend time with you, no Lilia with that friendly smile as he gave you a warning that was more like a threat, no Sebek staring you down with disdain for your audacity in being loved by Malleus no matter how you hated it, no being regarded as little more than dirt on the bottom of the shoes of the nobility, when you thought about it it truly was a lonely life you led, wasn’t it? Not a single person of the Kingdom was on your side, the undeserving and cold queen who should be cast aside for Bellatrix who was much preferred by the people. How could the people know that you wanted that as much as they did? It was Malleus who forced you into this role and stole everything from you, and yet you were the one who was blamed for everything as if being kidnapped, transformed, and forced to bear his children was somehow your fault. Even those who knew the truth of your plight either didn’t care or could do nothing to help you. Being alone was the only way to escape the pity, the hatred, the disgust, and just try and remember better times. And there was just one thing you needed to do before you could try and be alone again.
You didn’t know his schedule off the top of your head, but considering the time he must be done with his lessons for the day meaning he was probably on his way back to his mother. So you headed out to the gardens, seating yourself not too far from the path he would walk to return. You didn’t have to wait long, soon enough you heard the click of his heels against the stone of the path as his figure emerged from behind the bare hedge. The moment he laid eyes on you his frame tensed as if simply looking at you was an angering experience, and knowing he would probably try and get away from you, you called to him first.
“Victor.” He didn’t respond, simply stating where he was and looking away as if to show he had heard but refused to acknowledge you. It was petty and likely against royal etiquette, but he was still a young boy and it’s not like you couldn’t understand why he acted the way he did. “Are you finished with your lessons for today?” His head snapped to you with a sneer, as if your words were meant as an insult somehow.
“They’re finished, but I’m going to study more. I have to be prepared to be king one day.” You didn’t miss the small smirk. “Because my mother was able to give father the son he needed after all.”
“I see. Aren’t you going to take the rest of the day off? I’m sure your mother would like you to.”
“Don’t make fun of my mother!”
“I’m not. I just think she would prefer to spend time with her son on his birthday.”
“...What? How did you-“
“Happy birthday Victor.” Patting the stone of the bench next to you, you beckoned him closer. It was probably the first time you’d spent with him that was more than a quip of insults as you passed each other, but seemingly confused by your slightly less icy demeanour, he did as you asked and took the seat next to you. You knew it wasn’t because he wanted to, like it or not you were still queen, meaning that Victor did have to obey you no matter how truly powerless you were, and you knew that as much as he hated you, he didn’t want to give you any fuel that could make his dear father hate him, he knew that saying anything to you could do that easily. Despite being his son, Malleus still valued you over him, his heir. He was regarded as little more than a tool, he existed only because he had to, and although he was young he was well aware of how unimportant his existence was to his own flesh and blood.
Were you any better though? Sure, you felt a little sorry for him with the humanity still left in you, but in reality you were trying to use him just as his father was. Malleus didn’t care for Victor, while he wasn’t a loving father to your children either, he was still softer and less neglectful to them, and that attention on them was something you didn’t want for them. Just as Malleus was using him, you were trying to use Victor as a shield between Malleus and your children. If you showed you cared about him, if you appeared to love him and almost took him on as your own, perhaps Malleus would focus his attention on him instead. Cruel it may be, but it would give the two of you want you both wanted, Victor would have his father’s attention and give him the opportunity to achieve his love and praise, and it would give your own children the distance from their father which is the only thing you could wish for, knowing your own freedom was nothing but a dream. Besides, it’s not like you hated the boy, he was young, impressionable and surrounded by neglect and misery, even you had the heart to pity him.
Silently you placed a box next to Victor, he eyed it with suspicion, glancing between you and it before begrudgingly peeling off the ribbon and wrapping. Nestled in the deep purple velvet interior of the leather gift box was a small statue carved from crystal, it had taken her a while to come up with the design, and you had taken it to the highest quality sculptor in the entire Valley of Thorns months prior. You wanted the commission to be classy, it couldn’t look rushed if you wanted the world to think you cared for Victor.
The detail was extraordinary, even you had to admit that, a dragon with eyes of emerald and a gecko with eyes of ruby were curled around a larger lime green peridot in the centre of the sculpture. It has taken weeks for you to approve the gems used, ones that would match the eyes of both his parents and his own, the crystal was carved with such precision that it felt like it could come to life any moment, and on rare clear days, you knew it would catch the sunlight scatter the light in a rainbow.
“What is this?” Victor, not to your surprise, didn’t look particularly happy. Glaring up at you with heated eyes, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the box to the point when his nails dug into the leather exterior.
“A birthday present.”
Three simple words, and yet his face flared up as if he had been slapped, he stood and in an instant, raised his hand above his head and threw it down. The box that was in his hand lost its support, and the force of his throw sent it smashing into the ground, shattering the crystal into thousands of glimmering pieces.
“I don’t want anything from you!” His voice was filled with contempt. “I just want you to go away! Leave forever, stay away from me and my mom! Let her be happy!”
“And how do you expect me to do that?” At your voice he froze, eyes wide and tearful as he glared at the ground, his hands forming into fists at his side. His entire body was shaking, no doubt with rage he was trying to hold back, but you continued. “You know I would if I could Victor, but do you think me disappearing will give you what you want? You’re a smart boy, I’m sure you know without me even telling you that it wouldn’t. I can’t make your mother happy because it’s not me that she wants something from.”
“SHUT UP!” If looks could kill, you were sure you would be dead, but nothing was to follow that explosion, he knew you were right. A fae child was still a child, and he was lashing out at the one thing in this situation he could, his mother was the other woman and had knowingly married into this, his father was a disgusting man who had forced you into a relationship and marriage with him, forced you to bear his children, and then married another woman simply because you hadn’t given him a son, yet he could hate neither of them because they were his parents. He still yearned for Malleus’ love and approval, and for Bellatrix’s happiness when neither would ever happen. “I wish you would just die.”
You paused for a moment, the level of sheer hatred in his voice was shocking, even the staff nearby stopped, looking between each other with questioning glances at his words. But the words that followed weren’t what he expected to come, your tone not icy, but small and tired.
“Sometimes, I wish that too, Victor.” His eyes widened, seemingly lost for words, and after a few moments he turned on his heels and left. No doubt he would simply act as if this never happened, but you wouldn’t give up, you couldn’t give up for the sake of your own children. Glancing to the side, you saw a few gardeners and maids had gathered at the commotion, fixing them with a glare you spoke pointedly.
“Do you all just plan to let this sharp crystal stay on the path?” At your words, the maids sprung into action, immediately setting about sweeping up the broken gift from the floor. “I trust that the King will hear nothing of this, it would be a shame for me to have to bring up your failings in keeping the castle clean to him.”
“O-Of course not your highness!” You may not have scared them, but the slightest mention of Malleus always worked in getting done what you needed done. You stood, leaving them to clean up the mess Victor had made, the conversation you had still ringing in your ears, glancing up at the castle you could only sigh.
Yes, you’d once admired the skies of The Valley of Thorns, but that was before you’d known of Malleus’ willingness to destroy everything in his path to get what he wanted. And now you stood among the numbers of his victims, the lives he had destroyed in pursuit of his own happiness, and none of your dreams would ever be realised because of that, something Victor may have not realised was that the two of you really weren’t so different after all.

MC & Yandere!Malleus Draconia’s Children (based on Tri’s Second Wive AU)
A short bio about the hybrid Princesses and Prince of the Valley of Thorn. Mostly just for my reference as Tri already have their names, birthdays, heights, species and appearances canon’ed.
This post focuses on their eldest daughter first.
1. Renata Draconia
Tumblr media
Reference: Nine the Phantom/Konoe from the Blazblue series
(Reminder: she doesn’t look like this, I just based her personality, powers & other titbits to Nine. Tri has her appearance in their blog)
Eldest daughter/First child
Theme song: Awe of She
Carbon-copy of Malleus
Age: 16 years old
Appearance: Short black hair & deep, green eyes. Pale skin with black painted nails. Has a pair of horns like Malleus but human ears.
Personality: Silly, emotionally expressive, love MC & siblings dearly, creative. Also short-tempered, reckless and impulsive.
Personality when she was living in the castle: Bitter, unhappy, love Malleus & his retainers and withdrawn due to the judgemental whispers & gossips from the castle.
Likes: Her family (minus Malleus & his retainers), teasing S/N Kingscholar & Lucien, MC’s world, Shopping with Sherrie/Cherry, boba teas, pop-punk rock music, in-door BBQ & experimenting with magic.
Dislikes: Malleus, his retainers, his court & Bellatrix and Victor (half-family), anything that threatens her mother & siblings & mint ice-creams.
Dorm: Diasomnia
Lover/partner-in-crime: S/N Kingscholar
Unique Magic: Observer. An ability that allows her to see and learn all her future possibilities. She can choose 1 to be her reality and thus, lets her know what comes next. However, she cannot alter any of her possibilities. (As a side effect of her Unique Magic, whenever she Observes her possibilities, her sclera turns pitch black and her green eyes glow).
She used to love Malleus & his retainers as fiercely as she loves MC and in return, Malleus extremely dotes on her. But she felt betrayed when Malleus bowed down to his court’s suggestion that he married and take up a second wife in order to produce a male heir to the throne. The praises that she receive as a good and strong Princess felt worthless because at the end of the day, she’s not only a girl, but also half-human.
Fully hate Malleus and everyone in the castle the moment she learns the truth of her birth and the true relationship between her parents. Silver’s on thin ice though because she remembers that he’s empathic towards MC’s situation but his hands are tied due to being one of Malleus’ most trusted knights and Lilia’s son.
Adapt in MC’s world very well and quickly forgot all the etiquette lessons and etc that she was taught. She thrives under the freedom that her mother gave them.
Snacked often and has a habit of waking up in the dead of the night, hungry and looking for food if she sleeps early.
An ace when it comes to magic. A right prodigy when she uses her creativity with magic even when she’s a little girl and trained under Malleus and his retainers.
Has an arsenal of spells, made by the combination of elemental magic.
Does not favour a weapon, at all. Prefer to use her fists and kicks with magic to attack.
Can go toe-to-toe against Malleus & Lilia for at least a few hours before she’s exhausted.
She’s been experimenting with her magic and later Unique Magic constantly. To the point that she can easily combine her magic, spells and Unique Magic in battle with minimum casting time.
In NRC, she uses her magic crystal as a pen but when fighting, it turns into an earring.
The firepower and assaults to her sister’s meticulous planning and manipulation. In which she has no problem in following.
-
As the series goes along, I’ll gradually post Sherrie/Cherry & Lucien’s Bio. Most probably after they fully reveal their abilities and etc. Also, all credits go to the amazing Tri because we’re just borrowing her kids here.

I have risen up from the dead for the holidays to give this gift (Route Two : Part 6)
Hey man, wassup, how's life? I dunno what to say, I'm a terrible Santa. I put in more time into this chapter than the other chapters (in the spirit of preholiday break procrastination) so I hope you like this gift. This is derived for the amazing @tri3tri 's SW AU and I just thank her for creating such vivid and lovely AUs which I can immerse myself in, I loved the recent AU, Dead MC, a very nice one indeed. So I guess I will leave now so you can enjoy your reading time in peace ♡♡♡♡♡♡
Lucien’s mind was a maze. Every twist and turn, every dead end taunted him, like a defenseless child taunted by their cruel relatives. His frustration knew no bounds when he failed to exit the maze, but that anger was soon replaced by something far more sinister.
The numbing sear on his body felt as if his body was suffocated when he slept. His appendages were like cooked pasta, limp and unruly. Breaths that were like that of an athlete who had run a marathon filled the room at lightning speed. The degradation of his vision forced the boy to squint but even that proved to be ineffective when blobs of different colors was all that filled his vision. Lucien could no longer feel the beat of his heart, his lungs wouldn’t budge and supply him with air. He felt his eyelids droop lower and lower in an agonizingly slow pace until they finally reached their destination. The room fell into a hushed silence, like the prior noise never happened, it was peaceful like a field of flowers on a cliff.
~
For her, time wasn’t a constriction, she had lived long enough to no longer fear the obnoxious concept of time. She lives alongside time. She is time. As long as time exists, she will live and be indifferent to time. Her hourglass will forever be reversed again and again when the sand trickled to the bottom.
But her long life no longer gave her any thrill, she lives in a kingdom where war no longer ensues in its borders and she has been reduced to a routine of nothingness. Until the woman with flowing (h/c) hair and blazing (e/c) eyes came years ago. The woman who was her granddaughter-in-law was an untameable dog who very much was the one who her dear grandson loved with all his heart.
The sour taste in her mouth left her itching to tame the woman until she was the perfect lover for her grandson.
The sour taste in her mouth was satiated when the woman was on her knees along with her daughters, her confidence was cracking.
She was almost perfect.
Maleficent looked back to those recent memories and scoffed, what was she thinking? (MC) hadn’t changed even with a decade of taming, she truly was an untamable dog. She  sat on a chair that was as black as the abyss of space. In her unlit room, she was like a viper ready to strike at anything that disturbed her.
Her peace however is disrupted by a wave of magic. Her eyes quickly focused on the magic and tried to discern what kind of magic dared to make its way into the Valley of Thorns. Once she figured out what magic it was, her cackling reached the throne room as her bright green flames engulfed her room. She called in a meeting with all the high ranking nobles of The Valley of Thorns.
~
Her room was as gloomy as it was large, floor to ceiling window panes let in as much natural light as the rainy day allowed. She sighed, he was having another tantrum from their one-sided conversation in the morning.
Her black dress was almost as beautiful as the woman who wore it. The dress was a two piece dress consisting of a bodice and a skirt. The woman's bodice was luxurious, even if it was done in a black fabric, delicate embroidery in black thread was littered across the bodice, while her two layered scalloped bertha collar was created with a sheer black fabric. A large skirt supported by a steel crinoline accentuated her waist as the corset helped to hold up her large skirt. She also wore a black veil, as if she was mourning for someone.
“Mother, long time no see.” Sherry’s somewhat cheery voice announced her presence
“How are you Sherry?” hearing her mother’s question brought the teenager joy as she happily sat on the sofa and talked about how she was feeling
“Hello Mother.” a stoic voice called out to the woman as she walked into the room
Sherry’s green eyes flicked over to Renata who seemed like she walked to the depths of hell and back.
“Yo Renata! You look like you're about to drop.”
“I do very much feel like that.” Renata sighs as she plops herself down to the sofa next to Sherry
“When you’re tired, sleep my dear.”
“Mhm”
“Renata, did you?” (M/c) asked the black haired teen who nodded in agreement
“Mhm, I already did.” Renata said, referring to a magic spell which allows nobody to eavesdrop on their conversations
“I can feel that something will happen.”
Sherry and Renata looked at their mother with confused looks, “What will happen?” Sherry said breaking the confusion
“Lucien is here in Twisted Wonderland.”
“You’re joking!” Renata said looking at her
“The kid’s finally here huh.”
“We still aren’t ready.”
“Don’t worry, where do you think we live? Even if the Valley of Thorns continues to invade countries near it, this kingdom will always be isolated.”
But her statement was disputed with the wave of magic that engulfed the room and brought the three ladies to panic. The magic was like a hurricane that knocked the breath out of their lungs and gave them excruciating pain by doing so.
“This magic! How is it so strong!” Sherry said trying to breath
“No way. This is a finishing stage of transformation magic!” Renata said making (M/c) look at the window with surprised eyes
“Lucien…”
~
His face was like an unkempt garden and cottage, bellflowers and catmint littered the ground, sullen from the cold atmosphere. The yellow straw of the cottage roof looked disheveled as if it barely survived a violent snowstorm. That was the appearance of Briar Rome as he sat on the intolerably cold and hard stool that seemed jutt into his tailbone. His purple eyes that seemed to always give the person staring into them the warm feeling of spring, instead looked dejected, regretful, downcast, miserable, and just plain sad. Briar’s wheat colored hair was like sad damp straw, a victim of the recent and sudden storm that glazed Royal Sword Academy for a few hours.
His pale hands held a hand larger than his own, the nails were a menacing black that glossed under the light of the infirmary. His eyes trailed up to the person’s pale face, the person had (h/c) hair that was like the clouds in the great big sky and his horns were two skyscrapers that disrupted the beautiful view. His silk-like fringe was brushed to the side to reveal a threatening yet alluring pattern of black scales that started in between his forehead and hairline. The ornate design strangely complemented the boy. He looked at the white robe his friend wore and grimaced, he should have known that he was sick or hurting earlier, when he heard that Lucien was the one who had unconsciously casted the tragic storm while also suffering from his transformation, he felt like a thousand needles had pricked him at the same time.
A light groan felt like the bang of a sudden firework to Briar, it felt like seeing the light at the end of a dark and long tunnel. His breath hitched as if his mind stopped working for a moment and he stood up and shouted for a nurse when he finally had a grasp on what was happening. Like swifts, a pair of nurses entered the room, one ushering Briar out, to his dismay, while the other tended to the now semi-conscious Lucien.
~
The room was like Antarctica to (M/c), frigid and deathly silent. Her eyes trailed to the imposing figure that sat upon a throne of thorns. Like a paperweight weighing down everyone with a rule of silence, Maleficent observed the court, everybody was here, save for the Crown Prince, he wasn't necessary.
She sat on a throne on the right of her husband while Bellatrix sat beside Maleficent on her left. Her children were separated from their mother as they sat on their respective chairs as the High Court Magician and Supreme General.
"I hope I wasn't the only one who felt it, I'd be disappointed if I was." she haughtily said looking at the court of high ranking nobles
Words of confirmation echoed in the large hall and Maleficent steadily raised her staff and pointed to Renata.
"High Court Magician, elaborate further."
Renata stood up and explained, "The magic that came across the Valley of Thorns is quite unique."
Some chatter was heard among the nobles, they weren't really surprised, if anything, they probably weren't listening. Why should they listen to a half-human princess? It was probably through pure luck that she was able to get that position, probably by asking the vile queen.
Renata silently clenched her teeth and sucked it in and continued, "The magic is transforming magic, more specifically, dark fae transformation magic."
Gasps were heard in the court while a noble stood up to object the sayings of the High Court Magician.
"Your Highnesses! How can we be so sure about what she says!"
Renata looked at the man and clicked her tongue, Muave Heighgroove. What a joke, she sat down, deeming it unnecessary to stand up
"What do you mean?" Malleus said in a hoarse voice
"Your Highness! We don't know for sure if she is lying."
"Faes can't lie." Malleus says passively
The fact that the king didn't respond aggressively blew Muave up like a puffer fish with pride.
"Well, with the princesses being half-"
His claim was cut short by Maleficent who just laughed, no cackled, like a dying goat. She was beyond amused. Maleficent looked Muave straight in the eyes.
"That girl is plenty capable in discerning what magic it was. Honestly, I wonder how you all are part of the royal court."
Clean and swift.
Renata stood up and displayed her utmost gratitude and explained the magic even more.
"The circumstances are very unique when we consider this case, in case you happened to forget, transformation potions and anything regarding transformation is illegal in most kingdoms unless it is their Unique Magic, not in the Valley of Thorns though. But even then, transformation magic, especially for a dark fae transformation, is still hard to obtain here as it's distribution is under the jurisdiction of the Former Queen. So Your Highness, were you the one who gave some without the court's knowledge."
Renata was as cruel as she was realistic, her eyes were gleaming as they stared at the great-grandmother's dragon eyes. She was only stating facts and asking the correct questions to the correct people. A perfect smile was displayed on her face, whether or not the smile had other motives was unknown.
"I see, no I didn't."
"Thank you for answering Your Highness. To be honest that was just a formality, I can say with the nature of the magic, the transformation wasn't necessarily done by a spell or a potion."
"Was it a Unique Magic?" Bellatrix said looking at the magician
"Not necessarily, you can say it was a late metamorphosis. Even so, the nature of this transformation is very unique, it may take months of research before a solid reason is formulated. Of course that's if I don't go there myself."
"!!!" Malleus looked at his daughter, her black hair was perfectly sculpted showing off her scaly pattern on her forehead
"The magic came from the north-west, very likely from the Royal Sword Academy region. So My King, My Queen, allow me to go."
"I will have to decline this request, Head Court Magician." Malleus said exasperated while (M/c) looked at Renata, her dark veil shadowing her features
"I will give my permission."
Malleus shot a look at (M/c), who only scoffed and said, "It will be beneficial to the Valley of Thorns, if we nurture the transformed, they can do our bidding as a payback for teaching them how to control their powers as a dark fae."
"How will you know that they will be beneficial."
His only answer was a chuckle.

Emerald Onlooker
Part 2 of the Successors to the Future is here! I, uh, didn’t expect a lot of people liking it, but since I’m still pretty excited about this AU, I want to write as much as I can.
Thank you again @tri3tri for inspiring us with your Second Wive AU and many, many wonderful Yandere!Malleus content. A little summary about this AU: Yandere!Malleus married and took MC against her will. He turns her into a Queen and they had 2 daughters. However, Yandere!Malleus is pushed to take on a second wife (a Fae woman, Gekkon) to give him a son, a male heir. During the wedding ceremony, MC took the opportunity and escape to NRC with her daughters in tow and Crowley finally did them a solid and send the three of them to MC’s world.
Successors to the Future, summary: Without a court of condescending Faes and Malleus’ oppressive affection, MC and her daughters live happily in the other world. When she left Twisted Wonderland, MC didn’t realise that she was pregnant and thus, she gave birth to a son who grew up as carefree as a bird and just as kind. However, now that her eldest daughter had just turned sixteen and discover her Unique Magic, she was returned to Twisted Wonderland as a first-year student in Diasomnia. Since it’s only a matter of time before Malleus and his court discover her presence at NRC, MC and her children did their best to prepare her for that inevitable day.
This oneshot is a continuation of that.
FD/N = First daughter’s name/Renata Draconia (half-human, half dark Fae Princess. Malleus & MC’s eldest child)
SD/N = Second daughter’s name/Sherrie or Cherry Draconia (half-human, half-dark Fae Princess. Malleus & MC’s middle child)
S/S = Son’s name/Lucien Draconia (half-human, half-dark Fae Prince and the heir to the throne. Malleus & MC’s youngest child).
MC/S = MC’s surname
-
Sherrie enjoy going about her daily lives on her lowest brain capacity most of the time. There’s nothing like just... switching off your brain and ignore all the boring things around you.
The only thing that gets the gears and cogs in her brain spinning is when she plays video games like Portal or coming up with schemes to get her eldest sister out of trouble.
When she jokes about only having 2 braincells and that both are constantly on holidays at the same time unless Renata did something stupid, Renata howl with laughter while Lucien just rolled his eyes at his cackling sisters.
But now that Renata is playing student in Night Raven College, Sherrie is surprised to find herself looking forward to not only help her oldest sister dodged their father’s steps, but also pulling the proverbial rug underneath the Thorn Kingdom.
Especially Lilia Vanrouge.
It’s addicting. The unholy glee running within you when your cute puppets finally realised who’s been tugging on their strings all along.
Humans are easy and oblivious enough for her to practise on. Despite how monotonous school can be, the environment was a good place for Sherrie to learn and play. Everyone has a chip on their shoulder; everyone wants to stand out among the rest.
So it’s really not that hard to learn who’s the right person to blackmail, who’s desperate enough to do anything to make their crush look at them and how to make the key figures dance on the palm of her hands.
This year’s prom night was certainly a memory she won’t ever forget.
And now? Now Sherrie can’t wait to play with the so-called ‘superior’ species - their father’s ancient court and loyal retainers - once she and her sister could establish contact.
They’ve been working hard on this little project. Everyone in her little family is. Renata is off being a good little student and let the gossips travel on its own, their little brother is doing his best to assured their mother that all would be well and Sherrie?
Sherrie is busy setting up the stage for the climax once Renata usher all the important players to where she wanted them.
(Mama likes to call her a ‘smart cookie’, always rubbed her head affectionately and said, “You’re a brilliant girl, Cherry. You’re just lazy. I know you can achive anything you want with the proper motivation, just like Floyd-senpai.”.)
(Their Mama can never know just how far her daughter had use the same skill that she praise to manipulate others.)
In the middle of the evening - just shy after midnight -  Sherrie heard a water drip somewhere in her bedroom.
Drip... drip... drip...
She pushes her chair away from her gaming laptop, game paused and just listen. Her eyes scan the dimly lit bedroom.
Drip... drip...
“This better not be the start of a horror movie.”
It’s coming from... somewhere near her vanity table. Sherrie ignores the clutter of make-ups, perfumes and figurines on the table and waited eagerly. Her leg couldn’t stop bouncing when the surface ripple like water’s surface once.
The ripple clears and instead of staring at her reflection, her oldest sister stares right back at her.
“It works!” Renata said incredulously. “I can’t believe the headmaster’s half-assed runes actually works!”
“The fuck? What happened?” Sherrie reply, a bit taken back. Behind her sister, Sherrie could see a bed, study table and walls and other furnishing that eerily looks similar to the ones back at the castle.
Renata waved her hand in a dismissive manner. “I had to literally bullied a grown ass man to help me contact you. It took me a week of camping in the library to figured out how, but we managed to come up with runes that allow us to create a link to every mirror in the house.” She explains in an exasperated tone. “I’ll teach you the drawing tomorrow. All you guys need to do is just draw them on any mirror and it’ll send me a signal to find a mirror of my own.”
“That kinda sounds like a phone call. Like, an interdimensional phone call!”
“I know right! I already put a compact mirror in my purse so I can call you anytime!” Renata said with a smug grin. She’s clearly proud of her clever little trick. Even with the help of the headmaster.
Sherrie never doubted that her sister couldn’t find a way to contact them. She’s a prodigy when it comes to magic.
She might be young, but she could still remember how their tutors gave out praises as if they were candies when it comes to her older sister and her affinity for magic.
It’s just too bad that their compliments are worthless when they always ended with, “If only the Princess is a full born Fae...”
“Ok, so, contact established. Now are you still in Phase 1?” Sherrie said, bringing their conversation back to important matters. She made sure to properly and slowly explain their game plan a week before the Ebony Carriage took Renata to Night Raven College. The words are clearly written, highlighted colourfully and important steps are accompanied by cartoon stickers.
Despite being a prodigy at magic, her sister woefully has short attention span when it comes to playing the long game. Her attention spans burn hot and fast, just like her anger. It also burns out just as quick as it came.
Renata rolled her eyes, unimpressed. “Yes, yes. I’m still in Phase 1. It’s hard to make friends when everyone is wary of you. Do you know they hung up portraits of past Dorm Leaders and their Vice Dorm Leaders in each dorm? It’s so annoying when everyone stares at me and at father’s portrait whenever I walk into Disomnia!”
Sherrie hums and made a quick dash to grab her tablet. The one where she wrote down her plans. She swipes the screen to the list of names that their mother had given them.
“They’re just NPCs, don’t worry about them. What you need to focus on are the students with the surnames that Mama gave us.” Here, Sherrie is tapping on the screen of her tablet to the mirror. “Have you met any of them or did you fucked up the plan already?”
“Calm your tits, I’ve been following your instructions.” Renata assured her, not the least riled up. “We’re only in the first semester; I only managed to match the names and faces of my dorm mates so far. It’s gonna take me at least a month of snooping around before I could find them.” Renata paused and her eyes suddenly lit up as if she just remembered something. “Oh, but I’ve been farming intel of the Thorn Kingdom using the Lucky Leanan spell every day after curfew. It took some trial and error but I successfully managed to find the castle again!”
Sherrie recalls that one of Renata spells - Lucky Leanan - creates a small fairy made out of pure magic that would do sneak attacks by shooting lightning bolts while Renata fights. It’s small enough to flit behind an opponent’s line of sight and take them off guard.
Small enough to sneak into the castle without anyone none the wiser.
So Sherrie nodded. “That’s a good move. You’re safely far away from the castle and you can remotely dispel Leanan if it gets dicey.”
“Yup! Look at my one braincell go!” Renata cheered. “If I keep this up and give it plenty of water and sunlight, maybe it’ll grow!”
Sherrie burst out laughing alongside her sister. Her joke took her off guard. Hopefully their laughter didn’t wake up their mother and Lucien.
Sherrie hiccups and wipe the tears from the corner of her eye. It feels nice to talk to her sister again.
She misses her disaster of sister already.
“Anyway, I need to hit the bed soon.” Renata said, breaking her train of thought. “I’ll do my best to gather as much info as I can about the ongoings inside the castle for you. Are there any heads up you want me to look for?”
Sherrie smiles brightly and reply, “Of course! If you could, be a dear and get everything about father’s... other wife. Everything - right down to the most boring shits.”
“On it.”
-
That first-year Diasomnia student has been the talk around campus for weeks now.
Not only is she the only girl in Night Raven College, word on the streets quickly spreads that she’s look too similar to one of the previous Dorm Leader of Diasomnia to not be related.
Staring at her while she’s busy taking a selfie of the Great Seven statues, he agrees that the similarities are too uncanny.
Now, why would he sends his own Princess to a villain school without any retainer?
That, and why under a different surname?
Something’s not right.
Renata MC/S brought with her an interesting mystery to Night Raven College. A mystery that caught his interest at the first whiff of her scent. And oh Great Seven, her delectable scent. The first time his nose caught that mouthwatering smell, it had his tail swishing in eager and his head spinning.
It’s the scent of his favourite flower - blood lily - with a hint of something... otherworldly. He still can’t quite put words into it.
He wants to unravel her. Understand what makes her tick.
Uncover what she’s hiding.
Four days later in History class, Professor Trein gave him - and Renata - their golden ticket.
“Kingscholar, MC/S - you two will be partners for this assignment. I expect you two have no objection.”
“It’s fine...”
“I don’t have a problem with the arrangement, professor.”
The professor nodded and class is dimiss. Students began making their way out of the room. Except for him... and her.
Renata steps in front of his desk when they finally have the class all to themselves. He takes a good, long look at her.
She’s certainly beautiful; a real heartbreaker. But there’s something interesting within her bright green eyes. Something volatile. He wonders what could it really be.
“Hi there. So you’re Bakari Kingscholar, hmm? Hope we can ace this assignment without any problem.” Renata said with a small smile. Is she trying to be friendly? Because it just looks condescending as hell.
But that just makes this a lot more fun.
“Same here. Girl or not, I won’t let it slide if you prove to be a dead weight.”
His warning clearly took her off guard with the how her smile froze. It was only for a moment though, before she let out a laugh. As if he just told a funny joke.
“Kitty-cat is flexing his claws, huh?” Renata had the audacity to grin. The other Savanaclaw students would’ve lowered their heads at his tone. “Don’t worry. Do your part and I promise I won’t light your tail on fire.”
Oh, his old man needs to know about this girl.
-
You have no idea how much fun it is to write about Malleus and MC’s children! Especially the Princessess. Unfortunately, they’re more like Malleus than they or MC even realise it. Anyway, my main reference for SD/N is none other than... TADA! Fyodor Dostoevsky from BSD!
Tumblr media
It’s just that Sherrie is a lot more lazy and rather keep to herself and stay at home. She only goes out of her to way to mess with people because of Renata and her tendecies to get into trouble.
I’m still thinking on the draft for part 3 so we’ll see how that goes. Also, I was struggling wether to name Leona’s son or not. I think that honoured should go to @tri3tri!

Successors to the Future
I like to get lost on Tumblr when work becomes frustrating and I was immediately inspired by the Second Wive AU from @tri3tri!
If you’re a TW’s fan and enjoy reading yandere content, you just gotta check @tri3tri out. They’re one of the best yandere content creator for the TW fandom!
And since I’ve been playing Blazblue Centralfiction a lot lately and love badass girls, this plot bunny won’t leave me alone and so I want to add a little something to their amazing AU.
FD/N = First daughter’s name/Renata Draconia (half-human, half dark Fae Princess. Malleus & MC’s eldest child)
SD/N = Second daughter’s name/Sherrie or Cherry Draconia (half-human, half-dark Fae Princess. Malleus & MC’s middle child)
S/S = Son’s name/Lucien Draconia (half-human, half-dark Fae Prince and the heir to the throne. Malleus & MC’s youngest child).
MC/S = MC’s surname
-
“Oh. My. God. What did you do!?”
“Don’t worry, don’t worry! I got it all under control!”
“Under control - the pasta is on fire! How the - ”
“I can fix this! ...I think?”
“Move. You’re a human disaster, you know that? I told you to wait for me if you’re planning to cook dinner! Now the kitchen looks like an eldritch god just threw up! Mama is gonna be so sad when she gets home.”
“I tried yelling for you, but you were too busy livestreaming Among Us to hear me! Now help me scrap the pasta off the pot while I clean the counter before Mama gets - .”
“Sweethearts?”
Both teenage girls yelp at the sudden voice and instantly turn around. The pot of burned pasta clattered on the dirtied floor. MC looks around her kitchen in exasperation. She was wondering why none of her children didn’t greet her as soon as she got home from work. When she heard bickering from the kitchen, she saw her daughters were frantically cleaning up the mess that was Renata attempt at cooking dinner.
But instead of being upset over it, MC just shakes her head fondly.
“Did you use your fire magic to cook the pasta, sweetie?”
Renata sheepishly scratch her cheek in embarrassment. “I thought it might boil the pasta a lot faster...”
Her younger sister gape at her admittance. MC just smiles as Sherrie proceed to lecture her older sister about using her magic to cook while Renata slowly inch closer to her so she could hide from her sister’s wrath behind their mother.
MC will never get tired of seeing her children so comfortable and vivacious in their own home. A stark difference when they were all living at that place back then. She could still remember how Renata barely smile, barely interact with anyone that wasn’t her parents and little sister. Her Sherrie weren’t any better. Back then, she was too young to understand why the castle’s servants would whisper that the King’s daughters were imperfect because of their human halves. Why their lingering and judgemental eyes would upset her so.
MC could bear being a pet bird living in a gilded cage, could bear Sebek’s condescending remarks, Lilia’s cruel smiles, Silver’s guilty passiveness and even Malleus’ lack of empathy. What she couldn’t bear was how her daughters were treated at the castle. They expected their Princesses to be as aloof and noble as their father, but refused to acknowledge that they were children first and foremost. Refused to accept their human side.
And when the announcement were made public that Malleus would take a second wife to provide him a male heir at the behest of his council, MC decides that it’s time to leave.
Especially when she saw how the news broke her eldest child. That night, she was frightened at how intense Renata hatred of her father. While she could care less about Malleus taking in another woman into the castle, MC never thought that his second marriage would be an act of betrayal to her daughter.
At that moment, MC knew that if they were to stay in that place any longer, she would’ve lost her daughter to her own hatred. They needed to go, they needed to escape.
And so in the dead of the night while the entire Valley of Thorns were celebrating over their king’s second marriage and superior wife, MC and her children scurried away to the only place she could think of.
Night Raven College.
She didn’t know when Lilia or anyone else in the castle would realise her and their princesses’ disappearance, so she begged a stunned Dire Crowley who thought she had died when no one could find her after Malleus graduated to send her home.
The headmaster finally came through for her and her confused, distraught children. Crowley had quietly explained that he already found a way to send her back to her own world years ago. However, she disappeared before he could tell her. A quick glance at the two little girls alongside her and he couldn’t help but grimace with deep guilt.
As atonement, Crowley hurried to grab a few books and journal that he can find about the fae court (both dark and light) and their magic. He pressed the materials into MC’s arms and explained that after she and her daughters step into the mirror, he will shatter and destroy any remaining fragments so that Malleus and his men could never find them ever again. However, MC must teach her daughters about their Fae side and how to glamour their otherworldly features from humans.
MC tackled the headmaster in a hug with tearful eyes, grateful that he could help them. They were then ushered into the mirror and finally, finally, her nightmare was over.
Years have passed since that night. With each passing seasons and being able to explore the world without Malleus’ oppressive court, the castle servants and his retainers, her daughters flourish into amazing young girls.
Their little brother equally so.
As Renata try to persuade Sherrie to allow her to use her magic to clean the kitchen up, MC asks, “By the way, where’s your brother? I’ll just order some takeaway for dinner. They should arrive soon.” As she said this, she already whips out her phone to order their food.
“He was napping in his room.” Sherrie reply her as she wipes the stove clean. Renata grumbled under her breath as she was made to mop the floor manually.
Mc thanked her and left the kitchen to wake her son up. Her son was the unexpected gift that they were blessed with after they crossed to her world. She didn’t expect to be pregnant, but consider how feverishly Malleus made love to her as his way to console her that the other woman and his second marriage would mean nothing to him and that she would still be the only woman he truly loves, MC really should have known.
It was so difficult to hide her joy that with the presence of a second wife, it would mean that Malleus would focus more on the other woman. Which meant Lilia would also need to make sure that she would learn all the proper court etiquette and Silver and Sebek would need to arrange the proper security for her as Malleus’ concubine.
The arrival of her son was unexpected, but dearly welcome by her and his older sisters. Although MC was not able to give her daughters the childhood that they should have, she made sure that her son - Lucien - was raised in an environment that allowed him to be a normal child.
Well, as normal as a half human and half fae could be.
Shaking the lump underneath the thick duvet, she receives a tired groan.
“Wake up, dear. Go freshen up. We’re having dinner in a little while.”
Worming his way out of the duvet, Lucien poke his head out and smile blearily at her. “Welcome home, Mama...”
MC pressed a quick peck on his forehead before ruffling his dishevelled hair. Her son looks so much like Malleus except he inherited her eyes and soft heart. While her oldest daughter is a carbon copy of Malleus and her second daughter looks exactly like her but with Malleus’ green eyes.
She’s so happy that she can provide her children that life that they deserve.
Dinner that night was as lively as usual. Renata was still riding high from her sweet sixteen birthday party that they just had last two days ago. It was quite a celebration and it ended with the revelation of her Unique Magic. Since it was a warm Summer evening, the small family enjoy their meal at the garden outside.
“ - we should totally play Among Us together! Including you, Mama! I think you’d love it!” Sherrie gushes after she pushes her glass of water away.
Renata gasped as if affronted. “Are you trying to tear this family apart!? The moment we suspect someone is the imposter, it’s anarchy unleash!”
Sherrie rolled her eyes at her oldest sister need for the dramatics. “Oh please, you live for the anarchy. You’re the one who started the fire when we played last time.”
Lucien winced as he recalled their last gameplay. “It was a mess. Everyone couldn’t stop accusing one another. My classmates even swore they wouldn’t dare to play with you ever again.”
MC smiles to herself as her children chatted with one another. It always warms her heart to see how close the siblings are to one another. From the stoic and hateful little girl, Renata had grown to be a playful and brilliant young woman. Brilliant in terms of magic. Even from a young age, Renata could control her elemental magic well. MC still remembered how wide she would smile whenever Malleus praises her during their training. After coming to this world, she continued to mastered her magic with the helps of the materials that Crowley provided them. By the age of 14 years old, MC realised that her creativity had led her to combine her elemental magic into an arsenals of powerful spells.
They decide to celebrate her newfound skills out to dinner.
And with the recent discovery of her Unique Magic - Observer - their family is aware that Renata has been experimenting with it almost every day.
“Oh yeah, uh, Mama?” Renata suddenly broke MC from her train of thought. Beside her, Sherrie and Lucien are comparing their two favourite games.
“Yes, dear?”
“Umm... Last night I Observed myself and something came up.” Renata began to explain and she started to fidget in her seat.
MC grows concern over her daughter’s hesitant expression.
“What is it dear? Is something wrong with your Unique Magic?”
“No, no, everything’s fine! It’s just that, well, so you know my Unique Magic give me the ability to observe my possibilities, right? Well, 99% of my possibilities shows that I’m going to participate in Night Raven College’s entrance ceremony soon.” Renata explains.
“Say what?” Sherrie suddenly intervene, eyes wide in surprise. Their own conversation paused.
MC could feel her blood froze at her daughter’s words. Suddenly, she no longer has any appetite for dinner.
“Night Raven College?” Lucien asked, confused at the sudden tension in the air. “I remember Mama said she studied at a place call Night Raven College.”
MC wanted to spare her son what she and her daughters had been through in Twisted Wonderland. But at the same time, she didn’t want to hide their past from him. So he told her all about Twisted Wonderland and Night Raven College. Of the good friends she made during her time at the school. About all sorts of shenanigans they got themselves into.
About a dark fae that she could see herself falling in love with at the beginning of their friendship, but that became a distant dream when Malleus let his fear of her mortality and his selfish, draconic desire to hoard her all to himself overwhelmed him.
No matter how much she tried to pleaded with him, reasoned with him, Malleus refused to yield. He threatened to harm her friends should she ever think of anyone other than him and gave her all the luxury in a world while locking her up in castle full with creatures who believe they’re superior to humans.
Lucien was stricken when she told him everything. In the end, all MC could do was smile sadly and told him that while Malleus might have love her and his children, in the end, it doesn’t mean anything when he allow his own council to dictate that Renata was not suitable to become his heiress just because she’s a girl.
In the dead of the night when Renata couldn’t sleep after they settled down in this world, she went to MC and with tearful eyes yet resolute face, her daughter informed her that she never wanted to be Malleus’ heiress. Having a taste of freedom, everything that this world has to offer to her and the loving support of her family, Renata knew she could be so, so much more than a mere Queen to a backwater country and its people.
And so the thought of her going back to Twisted Wonderland - where Malleus would no doubt still be searching for them - scares MC.
“Is there a way to prevent it?” MC quietly asks, though in her heart, she knows the answer to her own question.
Renata regretfully shake her head. “I can’t make the 1% where I don’t go back to Twisted Wonderland into a reality.”
“And why not?” Sherrie demanded.
“Because in that possibility, I’ll die here from Overblotting.” Renata dryly reply.
That’s the drawback of her daughter’s Unique Magic. While she could observe her every possibilities and acknowledge one and turn it into a reality, Renata can only see hers and not other people’s. Not only that, she cannot changed the many paths that had been laid in front of her. She can only observe and choose. Not altered.
Both Sherrie and Lucien flinch. MC shove the image of her daughter dying as a monster into the back of her mind. Renata lowered her head slightly.
“I... I don’t want to go back there.” Renata whispers. “I want to stay here. All my friends are here.” She raises her head when MC hold her hand and squeeze it comfortingly.
She needs to be strong for her children. Being a single mother wasn’t easy. They used to live with her parents and they were pillars of endless support to MC and her children. They didn’t turned her away when she appeared out of nowhere after months of disappearance with two horned children in tow. Instead, they helped raised and care for her children when she’s out working under long corporate hours.
The kids adore their grandparents and were heartbroken when they passed away.
But by that time, MC was financially secure to move her family into a new house and support her little family all on her own. She understood what it meant to be strong for her children and she will continue to be just as strong.
So with a sigh, MC narrowed her eyes and said, “If we can’t change the outcome, then we will do out best to prepare for everything that will stand in your way, Renata.” All three of her precious children jerk their heads towards her. She press on, “Each one of you posses your own strength; and I don’t mean magical capabilities. Your oldest sister’s greatest strength is her creativity when it comes to magic, Sherrie possess an intelligent mind for planning and strategising and you, my son, I’ve seen how big your heart is. You understands that compassion isn’t a weakness and that’s something the faes from the Valley of Thorns can never understand.”
Sherrie interrupt her speech with an abashed expression. “Uh, I don’t think me playing Total War: Rome II counts as a mastermind, Mama.” She sheepishly said.
Her attempt at the joke lessen the heavy mood a little when Lucien giggle and Renata crack a smile. It’s amazing to see how much her children have grown.
MC playfully roll her eyes. “Be that as it may, what I’m trying to say was that we can help Renata survive in Twisted Wonderland by doing our damn best to prepare her.”
Renata nodded eagerly while Sherrie and Lucien cheer.
And so MC clap her hands once and her children sat straight. “Let’s turn this into a family project. Now, sweetheart, do you know when the Ebony Carriage will pick you up?”
“Hang on, lemme check again...” Renata’s scleras suddenly tinted black and her green eyes glow brightly as she activates her Unique Magic. While she Observe all her possibilities, SD/N left the table to fetch her tablet while MC explains a bit more what being a student of Night Raven College would mean for Renata. After Sherrie sat back down at the table, Renata blink and her eyes return to normal. “I’ll be at the entrance ceremony two weeks from today. The headmaster is going to be so shocked when he sees me.”
MC hums. “Two weeks... we can work with two weeks. We need to prepare a countermeasure when it comes to your father. Words will surely spread that someone that looks like him is attending Night Raven College.”
“I can Observe further ahead what he will do once he realised that I’m there.” Renata said and furrowed her eyebrows, contemplating. “I need to test my magic against other people so I can see if I’m able to fight him or not.”
“Actually, I think I might have an idea on how to handle that.” Sherrie intervene. She’s holding a stylus pen and is scribbling something furiously on her tablet. Lucien crane his neck to see what his sister is writing, only to tilt his head in confusion.
As the family continue to brainstorm into late in the evening, MC silently swore to herself that she won’t leave her daughter all alone to defend herself in Twisted Wonderland. She doesn’t know how, but she will be there with her and still keep her children safe.
And then, the fateful day arrives.
-
“Next student, please come forth!”
“State thy name.”
“Renata MC/S...”
She said nothing when she heard Headmaster Crowley gasped beside her. “You - how!?
The Mirror of Darkness ignores him. “You were born with a different name, but live proudly under your mother’s legacy.”
“Damn right.” Renata smirks. “I’m my mother’s daughter first and foremost. I’ll continue to live as free as her.”
“Such conviction. You possess a deep desire to protect your loved ones which is both admirable and ambitious with the power that you were gifted with. Becaue of that, the shape of thy soul is a blazing green fire and towers of thorns that serve as your shield. You belong in Diasomnia.” The Mirror of Darkness declare.
The headmaster mutter something about fate playing a cruel joke on his once poor prefect.
And when the current Dorm Leader of Diasomia greeted her, he took a step back when he sees her face and horns. His eyes wide with shocked and words failed him. For every Diasomnia member had seen the tapestries of their previous Dorm Leader and especially one as great and terribly powerful as Malleus Draconia.
“Nice to meet you, senpai. My name is Renata MC/S.” She said as politely as possible. “I’ll do my best not to cause any trouble to this dorm.”
Renata tilt her head and pretend to look confused when her Dorm Leader continue to gape at the sight of her. Whispers of her true heritage and family began to circulate among the crowd.
At that moment, she recalled the advice given to her by her family:
“Don’t show off your spells. Ever. Lay low as much as you can. We can’t really control the rumour mill so let it travel on its own. While you’re there, gather all the intel you can about father and the current affairs in the Valley of Thorns. Anything that can be used against them. Also, you need to watch Bungou Stray Dogs with me. You can learn a thing or two from some of the characters in that anime.” Sherrie had said while showing her tablet and a messy flowchat of her plan. She tapped her stylus pen on the ‘Phase 1’ section with great importance.
“You need to keep your cool, big sis. You like to set the things that irritate you on fire. Like that girl’s handphone after she copied your test paper.” Lucien reminded her. Renata stucked her tongue out while Sherrie laughs.
“You need to make good friends, sweetie. Friends that can help you from the sideline. I have a list of people that might be able to help you against your father. I think it’s safe to assumed that their kids would also be attending Night Raven College too. Though some of them need to be offered a reward or be persuaded to help you first. Don’t worry, I’ll write down on how you can win them over.” MC assured her.
With her family supporting her even from another world, confidence in her magical abilities and a plan already in motion, Renata would not let her other so-called family trapped them ever again.
“It’s showtime...”
-
Did I really based Renata off Nine the Phantom? Hell yeah! I love her fighting style in the game. I HC that Renata is as badass as her.

I like to continue part 2 to this oneshot next week if my workload isn’t so crazy. I’m having so much fun writing for this wonderful AU!

Time of Realisation
Happy New Year, everyone! May 2021 be everything you ever wanted. Since I just finished writing for part 8 of this series, I wanted to post this one a bit earlier than the usual Fridays as a New Year’s Treat. So here we go! Part 7 of the ‘Successors of the Future’ is here.
(My Premium Grammarly account disappeared all of the sudden so please excuse any stupid grammatical or spelling errors you might find. I’ve edited this chapter thrice now and it should be ok??)
Before we start, we must do our ritual and give thanks to the ever amazing @tri3tri for letting us all expand on her Draconia Family series. Hope you’ll have a great year as well, Tri-senpai!
-
“To be honest with you Ren, I don’t remember much about Sebek. Just his voice. I still remember how loud his shouts were.”
“Eh, don’t sweat it too much. Take it as a blessing.”
Renata and Sherrie are in her room. The underwater aesthetic of Octavinelle is so beautiful to take in from the inside. It almost makes Renata wish that she’s a mermaid. Or a killer whale type of mermaid. Now that is a badass merfolk.
Just like Renata, Sherrie was given a room all to herself instead of sharing it with a dorm member due to her gender.
And her little sister did not waste time transforming her room just like her old one back at their home. Already her gaming computer has been set up on her study table, cosmetic sets of well-known brands - Nyx, My Pretty Zombie, and Fenty Beauty - are organised neatly on her shelves beside the standard textbooks and stationeries. One of the open drawers beside her cupboard full of her school uniforms as well as her Pastel Goth clothes display tins of green teas and stacks of instant foods.
Clearly, Sherrie has made herself right at home in Octavinelle. And less than a week too!
Actually, how much luggage did Sherrie brought from their home?
After the Entrance Ceremony, Renata waited two days for Sherrie to acclimate herself to Night Raven College, letting her talk to some of her dorm members, get a feel on the teachers before slipping into her bedroom to catch up. It was a mild surprise to see the state of her room after her little sister told her to plant her ass on the bed while she prepared a pot of hot green tea for them.
While she’s busy with the kettle, Renata wasted no time to explain what Ace told her during Winter’s Break when she inquired about Sebek. It was good to know that due to the dense magic in the Country of Thorns, technology is almost non-existent in the land due to magical interference. It also helps that despite being in the First-Year Forever group chat, Sebek barely checks his phone at all. Over time, Ace and the rest of their group forgot that Sebek is even in the group chat!
“Still, it’s good to know that Mama’s friends drifted away from Sebek over the years. That’ll help us a lot in the long run.” Sherrie commented after Renata wraps up her report. She handed a cup of tea to Renata and lean against her study table, facing the bed where her older sister is cooling her hot tea by channeling ice magic onto her fingertips. “What about the student body here? What are they like?”
“Everyone walks around as if they got a twelve-inch dick.” Renata’s sarcasm is as thick as the kelp forest outside of Sherrie’s bedroom window.
Sherrie couldn’t help but laugh at her deadpan tone; she had to put her cup of tea on the table before it spilled everywhere. “That bad, huh?” She giggles helplessly, wiping the tears from the corner of her eyes.
Renata was about to roll her eyes but stop herself and ponders. Despite their flaws, Hoyle and Rex are good friends. Hell, even Bakari vibes with her. Not quite friendly, but he hasn’t yet turned her away when she scurries over to intrude herself in whatever he’s currently doing. That, and she secretly enjoys finding little treats and snacks in her backpack after hanging out with him. “Ok, some of them aren’t so bad once you can get past their ego. Remind me to introduce Hoyle and Rex to you soon.”
Sherrie raises an eyebrow. “And what about that one guy who keeps giving you food?”
“You’ll see him around.”
“...Right.” Sherrie eyed her older sister with a knowing look when Renata nonchalantly shrugs. She’ll get back to that little topic later. “Have you prepare the little surprise for Mama?”
“Yup.” Renata affirmed and took a sip of her tea. She lets out a happy, little sigh when warmth travels across her body. “We’ll do it this weekend. That’s the only time that they’re free.”
The two talk a little more until Renata had to leave when curfew looms. The passing Octavinelle students gave her a side-eye for a few seconds but otherwise, no one batted an eye at seeing a Diasomnia student walking about their dorms. The whole school is aware that Renata and Sherrie are siblings by now. Renata wonders if her sister will receive the same cold politeness because of their horns.
Meanwhile, as Renata made her way to her own dorm, Sherrie is scrutinising the lock on her door with a frown. The previous used cups and teapot are all washed up and the lights are dim slightly since she’s planning to hit the bed right after she figures out how to secure her room thoroughly. There are just too many sensitive and important information about their family and plans against their father kept here. She straightens her back and tosses a glance at the computer and tablet lying on the table beside it. Sherrie had made sure to cultivate a habit of not storing the complete set of important materials in a single device - one can never be too careful after all. Especially when there’s a dorm here dedicate to Technomages. Hmm... perhaps she should befriend one of the students of Ignihyde to help her with the security of her electronic devices?
Though there’s still an issue with the simple lock of her door. Anyone can just force it open with a pick. Sherrie made a mental note to consult with her sister for some sort of spell that can solve this problem.
And with that, she quickly changes into a simple loose shirt and a pair of shorts before slipping under the duvet and turns in for the night.
Life as a halfling and an Octavinelle student quickly proves to be unlike anything Sherrie has ever experience.
Renata offhandedly advises her to shrug it off when her dorm members stare at her horns a little too long; they’ll get used to her soon enough. Sherrie cursed under her breath when her sister left and wondered if she could attend her classes virtually instead, but when she brought that up to her Dorm Leader, the shark merman raised an eyebrow and simply asked her if she’s an Octavinelle student or Ignihyde’s. Needless to say, Sherrie set on digging any dirt she can find on her Dorm Leader ASAP.
Other than the uncomfortable stares and shady Dorm Leader - Sherrie quite enjoys the scarf that comes with her uniform - as well as her dorm leader, tend to keep it to themselves. Underneath the polite offers of tutelage in classes and tours around Mostro Lounge, Sherrie can blatantly pick up the insinuation underneath those favours.
A favour for a favour - that’s how life in Octavinelle works. Information is worth more than Madols and dealings under the table is practically the norm.
Sherrie adapts in Night Raven College faster than Renata ever could.
Speaking of Madols, Sherrie needed to do something about their financial situations in Twisted Wonderland. Currency exchange is not a thing here so their dollars are practically worthless. Fortunately, Octavinelle expects its dorm members to pull their weights in Mostro Lounge. By the second week she’s in Night Raven College, her Dorm Leader already distributed the First Year’s schedule of their shifts around the café. The pay might not be much but it’s a good start.
There’s got to be a Twisted Wonderland equivalent of Youtube. She made mad revenue as a Youtuber and game streamer back home.
Today, Sherrie is working at Mostro Lounge with several other First Year students from other dorms. Customers flooded in during lunchtime and kept her busy manning behind the bar, preparing drinks and desserts.
“Presentation my ass...” Sherrie mumbled under her breath as she struggles to beautify the ice-cream sundae. She had to redo the whole thing when one of the staff - her Third Year senior - saw how plain her work was and taught her to make an art out of the dessert.
She was in the midst of deciding how many cherries would be enough to make the sundae look prettier when a rich, baritone voice broke her concentration. “Has the ice-cream offend you in some way, MC/S-san?”
Sherrie moves her face away from the towering glass to see a fellow dorm member smiling at her. How curious, his eyes are like hot, molten gold.
“No. I was just adding some finishing touches.” Sherrie reply, her voice remained neutral. She hasn’t seen this one around before.
Her dorm member continues to smile. It comes across as calculative instead of genuine. Renata would’ve spat fire at him already. “My, it looks wonderful. I’ll be sure to inform the customer that his sundae is prepared by your meticulous hand. I’m sure he’ll forgive you for the time he had to wait.”
Sherrie promptly turns around to store back the cherries into the fridge to hide her smirk. This nobody came forward trying to pick a fight with her? This could be fun. “I’m more than happy to receive our customer if he has any complaint with his sundae.”
“I’ll be sure to inform him.” He nods once and place the sundae on a tray and left the bar. Sherrie made sure to keep an eye on him after that.
He’s tall, taller than her, and play the perfect part of a waiter with ease. As if he grew up in this sort of environment. The way how he balances two heavy laden trays of food and drinks on his palms while weaving in between tables, greeting the customers with an impeccable smile is telling. This guy mastered the art of customer service for sure.
“Who’s the hotshot?” Sherrie asked her partner as she carefully wipes the clean glasses. Her shift partner - a Second Year manta ray merman, who was kind enough to introduce herself to her without any subtle jeer - glances at Sherrie’s line of sight, and his mouth made a small ‘o’.
“That’s Amber Leech. He’s one of the promising First Year students we got, according to the Vice Dorm Leader. You’re more of a wild card, though. Dorm Leader still doesn’t know what to think of you.”
Sherrie ignores that titbit about herself; she just hums. Didn’t Mama mention that she knows a Leech? “He’s good at handling the customers, I’ll give him that.” Sherrie admits, stacking the last dry glass onto the rack before her attention is capture by a server with a list of orders. Sherrie was too preoccupied with her job to scrutinised Amber any further after that.
Later when a Scarabia student relieved her of her shift with a quick exchange of pleasantries, instead of leaving, Sherrie decided to stick around and enjoy some free food in the kitchen. As long as she stayed out of the way, no one really minded her presence.
“Good job today, Leech-san. You can join MC/S-san in the kitchen if you’re hungry.”
“Thank you very much. I’ll be taking up on your kind offer then.”
Sherrie paused, tilting her head up from her small tub of ice-cream to see none other but Amber Leech step into the kitchen. Their eyes met and his calculative smile greeted her.
“Is this seat taken?” He politely asks her, gesturing to the vacant chair opposite her. The round table at the back of the kitchen is a bit small, barely enough to fit more than three people but it was far enough away from the kitchen staff so that they won’t be a bother.
“Knock yourself out.”
“Very well then.”
By the time he took out a red bento from the fridge, heat it up and takes a seat near the table, Sherrie has already polished the tub of ice-cream. When Amber noticed the empty tub, he frowns. It was so sudden that Sherrie couldn’t help but defensively blurted out, “What?”
“Is that all you having for lunch?” There’s a disapproving tone in his voice and Sherrie doesn’t know what to make of it.
“That? It was a snack. I had my lunch before my shift.”
For some reason, her dorm mate nodded, strangely pleased at her answer before he tucks into his lunch. By the looks of it, his bento is artfully made with a variety of colourful foods.
The two said nothing, simply enjoying the clatter of cooking utensils, sizzling fire on the stoves and the cooks hum under their breath. Here in the back of the kitchen, the chatter of customers outside is almost muted.
It was peaceful. So peaceful in fact, Amber Leech feels like it’s his sworn duty to shatter it.
“I suggest consulting either Aeacus Shroud or the other students in Ignihyde’s Basic Magical Technology group as your solution. Shroud-san is the only First Year student in that group but I heard he’s the most approachable of the lot.”
Sherrie’s heart froze. “What?”
Amber took his time to put away his now empty bento, dab the corner of his lip with a folded napkin that was on the table before replying, “For security of course.”
His answer is vague. Purposely so as he levels a stare at Sherrie.
“...How do you know that?” Sherrie all but demanded under her faux, indifferent voice.
Amber dared to smile and point his eyes, no word escape his lips.
A Unique Magic then. It has to be. Are his similar to Renata’s?
Sherrie’s mind races, for once, trying to decipher this strange student beside her.
And suddenly, Sherrie realises who this boy really is. The eyes were a give away.
“Amber Leech. Jade Leech’s son, I presume?”
-
“Mama, I’m home!”
“Welcome back, sweetie. How was cheer practice today?”
“It went really well, Mama. We nailed down the new routine without anyone falling off.” Lucien shuts the door close with his feet. He’s sweaty and still in his cheerleading uniform with a duffel bag sling over his shoulder. Seeing that his Mama is nowhere in the living room, Lucien padded into the kitchen.
The house is, unfortunately, a lot quieter now that his sisters are off at Night Raven College. Before Sherrie left, she and he talk about how their Mama would feel lonely now. Even more so when it’s his turn.
Lucien assured her that he’ll keep an eye on their Mama closely.
His friends would playfully tease him that he’s such a Mama’s boy; constantly texting her of his whereabouts, what she and his sisters want from the convenience stores and Mama always make his favourite desserts more often compare to Renata’s apple pies and Sherrie’s matcha cupcakes.
And Lucien has no shame in being spoiled by their Mama.
However, when he steps into the kitchen to witness their Mama re-arranging the dishes in the cupboard for the second time this week, it’s time for Mama to be spoiled in return.
Lucien can’t wait to see her reaction when they spring the surprise tonight.
“Mama? Do you need some help with the plates?” Lucien asked instead of pointing out the fact that Mama has been restless lately. Without waiting for a reply, Lucien has already dropped his duffel bag to walk around the island counter towards her.
“It’s alright, Lucy. I’m nearly done here anyway.” MC wave Lucien’s waiting hands away as she pushes the last stack of plates into the lower cabinet and got up. She shot him a smile but it’s wobbly. “Are you hungry, sweetheart? We still have some leftover dinner from last night that I can heat up real quick. Hang on, just give Mama a second to take it out - ”
“Mama, it’s alright. I know. It doesn’t feel the same without Ren and Cherry.”
MC froze before she got up and smile sadly. The sight made Lucien’s heart clench painfully. “The three of you have always been close to me ever since you were born. Your Father was... many things,” MC grimace but she soldiers on. “But he would never separate your sisters away from me. I’m not sure what to do with myself now that Ren and Cherry are away...”
Sherrie’s voice suddenly pops in Lucien’s head like how Renata enjoys busting through his door without knocking: “Mama needs a distraction. ASAP! Go, go, go!”
Renata interjects after her: “Psst! Try something calming yet engaging. That’ll do.”
Distraction. Right. Lucien can do that for Mama. At least until the surprise tonight.
“Would Mama help me with my origami? I could use some help with filling up my new empty glass jar.” Lucien suggests.
MC blink; didn’t expect Lucien to suddenly ask for an extra pair of hands with his hobby, but she took it in stride. “Uh, sure thing, honey.”
Lucien beams like a blooming sunflower. “I’ll go shower first then. Be right back, Mama!”
“Don’t run in the house, Lucy!” MC reminded him but lets him went upstairs with a small smile. She needs to get out of this funk. While Lucien is freshening up, might as well finish up her chores for the day.
By the time Lucien came back down carrying an empty glass jar and a stack of colourful scented papers and they didn’t waste time to clear the dining table of the bowl of fruits and their cups so they could get to it.
Lucien is remarkably patient. More so than MC or his older sisters - he made sure to slowly show how to fold the paper into stars to his Mama and when she’s confused, he would show her some videos online to help her. As the mother and son gradually fill up the glass jar, Lucien talks about anything and everything under the sun. How everyone in his team at school is helping him ease to the role as the captain of the cheerleading squad, how he’s getting a hang on the new subject material taught in Math class and who’s dating who in his circle of friends.
MC hums and would give an appropriate reply in-between Lucien’s story. Typical teenage shenanigans, albeit, a lot tamer than what she went through but she’ll never get tired of listening to her children’s school life. Yes, even when Renata and Sherrie tried their best to hide whatever blunder they did at times.
It was when Lucien threw a purple star origami into the jar that he suddenly changes the subject. “Oh yeah! By the way Mama, Ren and Cherry said that she has a surprise for you tonight!”
“Oooh, a surprise? I wonder what your sisters are planning.” MC murmurs a bit absentmindedly, too focus on folding the papers. Her eyebrows scrunch in concentration and she would beam proudly when one star came out perfect before tossing it into the jar with a happy hum.
Lucien is relieved. Looks like the distraction works.
They had a simple dinner once the glass jar is filled and once the dishes are done, Lucien hurriedly ushers his Mama into the living room. On the sofa, MC watches Lucien draws the rune on the mirror, bemused at the grin on his face.
When the rune vanishes, MC opens her mouth to greet her daughters. Her open mouth gapes and she could feel the corner of her eyes are suddenly wet when she saw the people on the other side of the mirror.
“Ow! Deuce, you idiot! I told you not to shove me with your elbow!”
“Who are you calling an idiot!? And quit hogging the mirror already!”
“I’m not hogging the mirror! You’re the one who keeps pushing me!”
MC couldn’t help it. She laughs, tears now freely running down her cheeks. Lucien quietly excuses himself to fetch a box of tissue for her.
Her laugh shuts both Ace and Deuce up. “Oh geez, what are you crying for, hah? It’s just us.” Ace said, supporting a bittersweet smile. At that moment, seeing his best friend releases the tension festering inside of him all these years.
“We miss you, Prefect!” Deuce shouted with a sniffle, his eyes are teary as well. He hurries to wipe off the tears with his knuckle. “Miss you so, so much! I’m so glad you’re OK!”
“Are you really though?” Ace interject, he doesn’t even bother to conceal his blatant check on MC’s body. Looking for any sign of injuries or illness.
MC guessed that one of her daughters have told them what happened to her...
But she refused to let thoughts regarding Malleus damper her happy mood. Not when she could finally see her best friends again.
“I’m ok now. We’re... we’re ok.” MC honestly reply with a lightened heart.
The three of them have grown; each of them has their own children now, at this moment, it feels as if they have been transported back to their teenage years all those years ago.
MC realises that she’s truly no longer alone now.
-
And we’ve reached the end of this chapter! I hope you guys enjoyed it!! MC finally meet Adeuce once more, even if it’s just through a mirror. With the three of them together again, there’s nothing they can’t do.
Here are some titbits about Amber Leech’s background:
1. His Unique Magic is called ‘Witness of the Past’
2. His Mum is a beautiful mer Sea Lamprey (if you don’t know what a Sea Lamprey looks like, uh, prepare yourself before you google search them.)
Speaking of Unique Magic, I’ve compiled a list of all the kids with their UMs already. Haven’t decided yet when I’ll post it, but I’m thinking of posting the names as a sort of teaser? Meh, we’ll see how that goes.
