We're deeply concerned that students at @RutgersU — alongside students at @GWtweets, @AmericanU, and @UMich — returned to spaces of friendship and community to find their buildings vandalized, covered in antisemitic flyers, and their Torah desecrated. Our students deserve safety. via @ujafedny https://www.instagram.com/p/CjD2bqLr7fF/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So @shoebootie works in New Brunswick and had to go to the office today. Around lunch time, she texts me today "what's good to get from @stuffyerfacenj?" naturally, as both someone who grew up eating there and a proud @rutgersu grad, I tell her the only correct answer: a boli. She got one and loved it, and was kind enough to bring me one home. Let me tell you, I haven't had a Stuff Yer Face boli in years, but this bad boy was every bit as good as I remember from the days of yore. And yes, that's only half of it, because it's that damn filling (I will eat the other half tomorrow). #foooood #stuffyerface #boli #stromboli (at Bedminster, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgQym1FM-9Z/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Carpe Diem... ________________ Renzo Ardiccioni OTTIMO PRESENTE Fioriti editore - Roma Per saperne di più, clicca qui sotto: https://www.fioritieditore.com/prodotto/ottimo-presente-otto-lezioni-di-psicologia-positiva-per-cambiare-in-meglio-la-nostra-vita/ #50sfumaturedipsicologiapositiva #ottimopresente #carpediem #ottimismosempre #psicologiapositiva #psicologia #benessere #rutgersuniversity #medicinaesocietà #mindfulness #pensieropositivo #renzardi #renzoardiccioni #giovannifioritieditore #felicità #amore #omniavincitamor #empatia #fortiegentili #felicità #salute @giovannifioritieditore @sostadipluto @kimmylove73 @natallialocricchio @spazioaries @happinessiswhereyouare @felicitain.pillole @mindful.psycho @lacitefirenze @il_libro_sul_tavolo @rinascimente_ @fiordilibri @farmaciadeilibri @chanel103paola @lalibreriadelleemozioni @mania.di.lettura @felicita_page @fiordilibri @sulla_felicita_festival @silenziosoecalmo @amore_con_amore @amordilettura @amore.epoesia @anya_scarlett_89 @_.omnia.vincit.amor._ @empatia_del_cuore @silviabookolica @adescamenti_letterari @rutgersu @visitpineto @marcosbeach_pineto (at Rutgers University) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfM8LcYMFUb/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Yesterday was my first time volunteering and attending @RutgersU Day and I had so much fun. 😍😍😍 Peep my stories for more pics! For those of you that don’t know, Rutgers Day is held at the multiple Rutgers University campuses and it’s this big festival fair type thing with tables manned by a whole range of organizations, ranging from undergrad organizations, graduate and med school organizations, many different departments from both the university and the hospital (yes, one dept brought a Da Vinci surgical robot, one brought a giant walk in inflatable lung, and a physics dept table was giving away liquid nitrogen ice-cream 😆😆😆). And everyone attends Rutgers Day, ranging from people in the community, employees, children, students, and everyone in between! There’s fun demonstrations, giveaways, and so much more. 😃😃😃 As part of my med schools community health initiative organization, @rwjmshiphop , we held teddy bear and stuffed animal checkups. ☺️☺️☺️ Our goal was to get kids to be more comfortable around doctors and also encourage them to be excited about STEM fields! 😁😁😁. I had so much fun teaching kids (and teens! And college students too!) how to use a stethoscope and how to do a quick heart exam. And during the course of the fair, it even turned into multiple mentoring sessions with teens and young college students asking more about the process of becoming a physician 🥰🥰🥰. It was a great day filled with everything I love about medicine and I can’t wait until the next one! 😍😍😍 Are you currently volunteering? Tell me where below! 😄😄😄 (at Busch Campus of Rutgers University) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdCn7VXuDLt/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Is Youth Football Safe? An Analysis of Middle School Football Head Impact Data
Tumblr media
MedicalResearch.com Interview with:

Robert F. Heary, M.D. Co-Director, Reynolds Family Spine Laboratory Director, Spine Center of New Jersey Professor, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Newark, New Jersey Robert F. Heary, M.D. Co-Director, Reynolds Family Spine Laboratory Director, Spine Center of New Jersey Professor, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Newark, New Jersey MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? Response: This article was written to assess the relative danger versus safety of youth football.  As this is a hot-button topic in the world of neurosurgery and neurology, we decided to look into this issue. In a suburban town, middle school football players were studied.  They wore helmets with accelerometers mounted inside the hemet to measure how many hits the player absorbs and the magnitude of the force behind the hits.  Also, soft “guardian caps” we worn over the outside of the helmets during practices. For all football activities (practices and games), the helmets were worn and data were accumulated.  In addition, specialized coaching related to safe tackling techniques was provided. MedicalResearch.com: What are the main findings? Response: The results showed that middle school football, from the point of view of head injuries, is likely as safe as any other sport at the middle school level.  No concussions occurred over the course of an entire season studied.  The number of significant blows to the head, over the course of an entire season, is very low and did not result in any head injuries. MedicalResearch.com: What should readers take away from your report? Response: We feel that middle school football as played and coached in Summit, New Jersey, in 2018, was very safe and did not expose the athletes to situations which could lead to learning disabilities or CTE with a high degree of certainty.  We were able to feel safe recommending to parents to allow there middle school athletes to play football in Summit, NJ. MedicalResearch.com: Is there anything else you would like to add? Response: Of course, the safety documented was with very specific equipment and training.  If that is not provided, then it is not possible to extrapolate from the results of this study. We want RU to be an environment where all students are included. Share your voice. Impact our campus. bit.ly/sjedle #RVoices ------------------------------------------------------------ Dear community, Rutgers students have a long legacy of diligently spending seemingly endless energy advocating for social change, both on campus and in the greater community. In the last few years of organized listening circles, programs, demonstrations, and community forums a recurring theme has become evident. You have asked for the opportunity to share your voice in regards to your campus experience surrounding diversity, bias, equity, access, and inclusion. You recently received a message from Chancellor Edwards answering this call. From February 7th to the 28th, Rutgers University-New Brunswick undergraduate students will be participating in the Diverse Learning Environments survey. This online tool is an opportunity to share your experiences with peers, faculty, staff, and the campus environment both in and outside of the classroom. In addition to helping to positively impact the campus, participants who complete the survey entirely will be entered into weekly drawings for prizes starting at $500. The earlier your complete the survey, the better your chances to win. The survey helps to capture common narratives on campus for all students, with a particular focus on race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, economic class, religion, and immigration status. Your responses will be used to help inform areas of growth, initiatives, and institutional practices meant to help ensure every student is able to call Rutgers University their home away from home. Your participation in this survey, while completely voluntary, is critical for our institutional future. Stop by the center any time if you have questions about the survey. Share your voice and impact our campus! After completing the survey, be sure to spread the word on social media by telling your friends why it's important to share their story using #RVoice. In care and solidarity, Zaneta Rago-Craft (She/Her) Director of the Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities
