Our party but in Solasta game! Highly recommend to pay attantion to it, DnD based game with pretty simple story, but characters… if your OCs fit the archetype, then get ready to enjoy dialogues of the main quest

I love how Solasta gives my OCs dialogue based on my input during character generation. It's not Wildermyth level of depth, but stil sooo welcome! More crpgs should do this (looking at you, Kingmaker, shafting my custom chars in every regard).
These particular nutcases are from 2007ish, when I dusted off my old Hero Quest box and replaced the original heros with custom minis. Ever since I used them in various crpgs, too.
Martin is usually a LE wizard, but I also ran a redeemed CG version of him a couple of times. He got his name from the default name his miniature came with.
Rattus Carceri is usually a CN elf archer of various base classes (here: Lowlife Ranger).
Lorne Ornamental is usually a CN dwarf cleric (contrary to Hero Quest, where he is a thief).
Barbie is usually a CN human berserker swinging two-handed weapons.
Sometimes they get joined by Martin's trap handling slave Marcus (a merc in Hero Quest) and his wife, the druid Melany (they picked her up in Temple of Elemental Evil).

These are the games I added in the “soon to come out rpg in 2020″, so I just thought I would check them again and see what news were there! I will put in bold the games that are out.
USELESS RPGS RECS NOT REALLY RECS. UPCOMING RPGS FOR 2020 2022/2023 UPDATE
Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey = The game is out on steam! It has some extra (mostly aesthetic) bonus stuff compared to the episodic version of it. Definitely recommend it!
The Waylanders = an isometric rpg with time travelling, companions and romance. The game is out but it does not have good review, I will probably not check it out any time soon.
GameDec = cyberpunk rpg where you solve crimes. I recently played it and I definitely recommend it, it has an interesting storyline and some nice endings too. Probably my favourite of the new games in this list.
Zoria: Age of Shattering =  This is an isometric rpg, not a lot of info out. The date is set for 2023.
The Iron Oath = a pixel-arty isometric rpg, with turn based combat with the promise of party characters with personalities and banter! The game is out for Early Access and the review mentions that there are no characters at all, so I won't be checking this out and I will take this out of future updates unless something changes.
Project Witchstone = another isometric rpg with turn based combat, this one does not have a lot of story or plot information out, still no date yet.
Death Trash = pixel art, isometric rpg in a post apocalyptic world. The game is out for Early Access and it seems to have positive reviews.
Baldur’s Gate 3 = This game has been out in Early Access for about two years, no date for release yet.
Colony Ship = isometric and party based, 12 recruitable companions and turn based combat. The game is out, but the reviews don't really mention characters but mention combat-focused reviews, so I am not sure how much characterization there is. I will probably try it.
Dark Envoy =  I really enjoyed their previous rpg Tower of Time even if the ending was disappointing. It will come out in 2023.
Tainted Grail: Conquest = inspired and reimagining of arthurian legends, party based isometric rpg where you have to investigate what is happening to Avalon post-King Arthur. The game is out... but they also announced a future Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. No review mention characters so I will probably not check this out and exclude this from future lists.
Gatewalkers = I added this game before realizing it’s an RPG Co-Op… so… ignore this, I suppose, unless you really love cooperative games. Planned release date is 2023.
Realms Beyond = This game is gone, people abandoned the project. More info here.
The Hand of Merlin = this arthurian inspired rpg has been in development for a long time, and is finally out. I will probably check this out.
The Way of Wrath = party based turn based rpg where you have to lead your people to safety! It seems to be very story heavy, and similar to Expeditions: Viking. No release date yet.
OTHER GAMES:
Black Geyser: The game is out! It is nice, very generic fantasy story, some characters but not too much.
Solasta: The game is out! I would not recommend it tho, the characters are very minimal and the world feels lifeless.

ArtFight is over and it's time I shared my attacks, I think! I managed a total of 103 attacks this year (don't ask me how, I don't know) so they'll be split up into several posts, which is probably going to take me a while to do...
Batch #1: Top left - Abigail Gray belonging to @finiel Top middle - Akilin Zolnerowich belonging to Solasta on ArtFight Top right - Alana belonging to @canelones-crudos Middle left - Alexandros belonging to @themstarsthough Middle - Ambriel belonging to @deep-sea-cosmos Middle right - Apricia belonging to legocruncher on ArtFight Bottom left - Arson belonging to @pl4nt-b0y Bottom middle - Atticus belonging to @crookedanchors Bottom right - Aubrey belonging to @atachisart

the trouble with tents
@fluffbruary day 15! some pining-flavoured, mildly-angsty, tent-based fluff with Locke and Aryas. up on AO3 here.
In which Locke does not enjoy Tent Time.
It’s raining in the Badlands, and that means it’s Tent Time.
Locke hates Tent Time.
For one thing the Tent is ugly, and he’ll be damned if he’s spending his hard-earned coin buying something better. And no amount of wheedling and other such convincing arguments have so far persuaded Aryas to get something different—the Tent works, the lawkeeper says, and so it stays.
The other reason Locke hates Tent Time is that it traps him in a nightmare box that consists of a few square feet of thick canvas, two bedrolls, and one Aryas Knightshield. Who is currently shirtless and cross-legged on his bedroll, frowning at the section of plate-mail in his hands whilst the lantern throws warm shadows over his perfect brown skin and Locke contemplates just walking out into the Badlands and never coming back.
“You hungry?” he asks, to make the silence go away. Aryas rubs at a spot on the plate-mail.
“Don’t start a fire in the tent again.”
“That was one time,” Locke grumbles, and goes rummaging in his pack for whatever’s left in there that’s edible. He’s still got rations, probably, and if he doesn’t, Aryas will. “Are you ever going to let me forget that?”
“Are you ever going to pay me back for the tent you destroyed?” Locke doesn’t answer, and Aryas makes a noise halfway between a huff and a hum. “Then no, I’m not going to let you forget it.”
Locke finds a package of jerky and a thick chunk of nutty bread, still fresh—thank the gods for enchanted haversacks—and chows down while Aryas finishes with his armour. Every night, without fail, he polishes it to perfection. They could be on the run from tireless horrors, trapped in the depths of an active volcano, marooned at sea, and Locke’s certain Aryas would not skip his armour maintenance routine. And while he likes to make fun, because it is obsessive, the truth that even outrageously aggressive wild horses couldn’t drag from him is that he likes it. It’s stable, certain.
And gods know how little stable certainty he’s had in his life.
Still, armour maintenance doesn’t take all night, and it’s late now; time for good little half-elves to take their rest. Only there’s no way he’s chancing sleep with Aryas less than three feet away in an enclosed space. He talks in his sleep, he knows he does—and he knows Aryas knows he does. He’s been dealing with Locke’s nightmares and mumbling and occasional screaming since they were kids. And more and more lately Locke’s petrified that he’s going to blurt out something incriminating whilst he’s unconscious, and then Aryas will have to firmly but politely point out that he doesn’t like men, and even if he did, he wouldn’t like Locke, and then things will be hopelessly awkward forever, and actually, why not follow up on that walking out into the Badlands idea? That was a pretty good idea.
Aryas blows out the lantern. Locke blinks in the sudden darkness, greys and semi-sepia tones taking over as his darkvision kicks in. Aryas tells him goodnight, same as most every night for most of their lives, saving those weird few years when he was off in the Caer Cyflen guard and Locke was off…doing other things. Outside, the rain’s still thundering down, white noise, background noise, it’s been going on so long. Locke’s glad for the racket of it—it handily covers the stutter in his breath. He can’t help it.
Because Aryas tells him goodnight, and tucks himself into his bedroll, one foot sticking out the bottom edge because he always gets too hot, and his hair’s tied up like usual, and Locke knows it’ll come undone in the night and in the morning he’ll be messy hair and half-awake eyes, and he won’t get dressed until they’re leaving because armour is awkward, and Locke’s going to have to sit there, with messy haired, shirtless Aryas two feet away from him, and—
“Go to sleep,” Aryas says, without turning over. Locke freezes.
“How do you know I’m not?”
“You’re not snoring.”
“I do not snore!”
“You do, you always have.”
“Then why are you the only one who ever complains about it?”
“I’m the only one who’s had to put up with it for more than one evening.”
“Berenike and Serenrae never say anything.”
“They have the good sense to sleep as far away from you as possible. Now shut up and go to sleep.”
Aryas tugs his blanket higher over his shoulder—conversation over. Even in the dark, Locke can see the back of Aryas’ neck, soft and warm and gods help him, he wants to put his mouth on it so fucking bad. He swallows hard and kicks off his boots and squirms out of his shirt and buries himself like a forgotten relic beneath his blankets. He lies there in the dark and listens to Aryas’ breathing even out as the human falls asleep.
Locke squeezes his eyes shut.
Yeah. He hates Tent Time.

Solasta vs BauldersG3.
These are some things I think Solasta did better than BG3:
Solasta asks if you want to smite (when you are a paladin) it also asks you if you want to use your attack of opportunity. Solasta has a button to tell your character to Hold their action for an attack, I have not seen BG3 have one in the options. Solasta also asks your sorcerer if they want to use their sorcery points, a reminder.
If I am missing some kind of setting to make my BG3 game be better, please comment.

Six hours into Solasta my initial joy at hearing my own chars talk (to npc, mostly, but sometimes also to each other) has not waned.
Pictured here is a very simple, yet effective trick: Instead of offering four dialogue options for a main character to choose from, the game puts each option into the mouth of the most fitting party member. That way my custom party comes to life.
Martin and Rattus are spot-on, exactly as I imagine them. Lorne is recognizeable, too, only Barbie sounds way more valorous and kind than I'd ever write her.
Tumblr media
He looked at Barbie, when he said that, but it coming from the smallest party member made me chuckle.

Just taking a moment to say if you enjoyed Dragon Age Origins and haven't played Solasta yet, you should. The vibes are so similar.
I'm just now realizing I unintentionally basically created a party consisting of my Warden (Dalish archer), Morrigan, Alistair, and Leliana/Zevran with a wood elf ranger, high elf wizard, human cleric, and halfling rogue.
But anyway, yeah, it's great and operates off of dnd 5e rules.
