Spider-People were supposed to be funny and outgoing. It was in their canon to have some resemblance to the original quippy and humorous Spider-Man. If not outgoing then at least a little endearing and sweet.

So the Spider Society is a little thrown off when you’re introduced to the team by Miguel. Both of your arms are crossed, your face blank and looking over other Spiders with neutrality. 

“Here’s our new recruit. She’ll be working more with Margo and Lyla. Think of her as one of your superiors like myself or Jess or Peter B.” Miguel tilts his head at all the other Spiders. “That’s all. Dismissed.”

He turns to face back to his console, returning to work on new files Lyla had presented to him. Some Spiders stay to chat with you. They don’t notice the slight discomfort and annoyance in your face.

“Hey! My name is Peter M! I think we might be the same age!” One says, his mask squinting to look like he’s smiling.

“Have you gone on a mission yet? What Earth are you from?”

“Has Miguel explained The Canon to you yet? It’s a little overwhelming, I know.”

The commotion irks you a bit, the Spiders coming into your personal space so you shuffle away and your brows instinctively scrunch together. “No, I’m fine.” You mutter curtly. The others finally see the change in your demeanor and they awkwardly step back.

Miguel turns over to see the few Spiders around and barks at them to stop. “She’s still new to all this so don’t go around pestering her.” 

They smile wearily up at him then at you, whose face is still contorted a bit in a way that looks like you’re obviously still being bothered. 

They get the message and wave goodbye to you but not without feeling a chill down their spine at how cold you were. Maybe you were just shy. Everything is and always will be overwhelming around here with different variants of yourself. So, they believed in time you’d come around like the others.

You, in fact, did not come around. After weeks, months even, you still came in and left without a word. Get in and get out. You rarely engaged in conversation and if you were in a group, you’d keep to yourself. If someone tried to include you, you’d just say a few blunt words that didn’t move the conversation at all so there'd be an awkward standstill before moving on.

No matter what, no one knew anything else about you besides your name, you were a Spider-Woman and the name of your Earth.

Even the esteemed group of young SpiderLings couldn’t even get you to open up. Jess and Gwen had just come back from a mission, wanting to eat at the cafeteria before heading home. They had found seats beside Hobie and Pav who were just catching up together.

Pav had mentioned trying to talk to you once but his bright personality pushed you further and further away from him, your responses to his questions becoming more and more short and quick.

“I’ve never met such a complicated individual.” He pouts, crossing his arms on the table.

“Don’ bother me none. I don’ like someone tryin’ to bug me either.” Hobie scratches the back of his neck. 

“Would’ve thought they opened up by now.” Gwen brushed her hair out her face. “It’s like pulling teeth with her.”

“She just seems kinda grumpy sometimes…” Pav sighs resting his head in his arms. “Even more than Miguel which feels wrong.” 

“Yeah, at least Miguel snaps at you but she…kinda just sits there.” Gwen leans back with a weak smile. “Not really sure how to make conversation when she’s so quiet.”

“She just doesn’t feel like talking, guys. Go easy on her.” Jess rubs her temples. 

Their conversation is cut short when Miguel walks through the cafeteria, documents in hand and with you in tow. Speak of the Devil. 

“Jess, Gwen, I misremembered about giving you the reports of your last mission together. I also have the analysis for the next one on Earth—199B.” Miguel hands the reports to Jessica and she immediately skims through it. Gwen looks over her shoulder and gives you a smile.

“Hey, how’s it going?” She asks. 

You respond with a shrug and a nod. “Good.”

Gwen’s smile wavers, laughing nervously as the awkward silence. She expected some sort of greeting back. 

Miguel answers for you. “She’s been with me the whole day since Peter’s been busy at home.” Gwen looks to Miguel.

“And how about you, boss? Doin’—uh—doin’ good?”

Miguel sighs, crossing his arms. “Better now that Margo fixed what Hobie broke in the console room.”

Hobie tsks. “Did not. You’re jus’ blamin’ me ‘cause I’m the scapegoat around ‘ere. Tha’ it?” 

Miguel pulls up camera footage from his Gizmo, of Hobie pulling apart different motherboards and CPUs from the server and tucking them away in his pocket. “Is this not you?!”

Hobie squints at the footage and shrugs. “AI has truly come a long way, mate. Bettah check tha’ out.”

Gwen, Pav and Jessica laugh at the scene, giggling at the sheer anger on Miguel’s face and Hobies indifference. You watch with a soft smile up at Miguel but nothing else.

Miguel feels your hand on his forearm and he looks down at you. You nod your head to the side, signaling it’s time to go. He looks at the time on his watch and collects himself. 

“We’re gonna head out. Don’t bother us unless there’s an emergency and be alert for any sudden messages should I need to contact any of you for anomalies.” He turns and gives a small wave before leaving, you trailing behind him.

You don’t say much other than looking behind to give them a small nod and following beside Miguel.

The group watches as Miguel talks to you, relating information and talking your ear off about missions and the to-do for the day. You listen quietly, eyes held on his and nodding along.

They glance at each other and think they would’ve never seen a person more closed off than Miguel in their lifetime. Even less where it looks like he’s more talkative compared to you. What an odd pair. “I think she has opened up. Maybe just not with us.” Jess leans back with a smile.

While growing up practising his katana was his favourite thing to do since it was one of the only times he got to be free.

During the good timeline he hinted he wanted a pet once. He was thinking like a dog or maybe a cat but Senju got him a hamster. He still ended up loving the little guy

Although he was the first one to teach Senju how to fight, he wasn't the last. After he left Waka and Benkei took over. When he did start teaching her it was only because she wouldn't stop asking him.

Attends all of Mikey's races in the good timeline

Goes to get cheesecake at least once a week with mucho

If he dates someone, one of his favourite things is to take them on bike rides. He doesn't care where they go, he just likes the feeling of them holding onto him.

A part of him was actually regretful after Emma died but he pushed those feelings away, imstead concentrating on Mikey.

Talking of character deaths, he did mourn Baji after he died too. Even visiting his grave often.

When Senju used to cry he used to sing to her to cheer her up.

Hucow Holiday on the blog, but it’s just me writing about the twst cast as hucows hehe. >:) I just think Jade deserves to be a pampered heifer who is spoiled rotten by you, and he’s so obsessed with you and everything that you are. Down horrendous.

It’s easy to forget he’s actually quite strong when he isn’t looking at you like you’ve hung the stars and held up the sky. Hold on, hold on - first we have to talk about the fact that he got you two puppies, not one? My, you must have been exceptionally good for him. Husband of the year award would probably go to Crocodile if it wasn't for the fact that you're with him against your will 😭

Two little dogs... How much they'd light up your drab life. Always playing with each other, chasing the other through the halls, vying for your attention. You could just watch them all day, even while they're napping. You'll probably try your best to put together toys/parkours with what you can get your hands on (but always careful not to damage anything, you put everything back into the proper place lest Crocodile catches you). Bracelets and heavy jewelry get re-purposed to drape them on your little poms, anything to tickle your brain and get a least a smile out of you. Whenever he's in particularly good humor, he leaves some treats around so you can train them (or at least try to, with how inconsistent it all is) - paw, spin, jump, and your favorite: kisses - they're pretty much all you have and you pour all of your love into them.

But you're not the only one getting bored - it's not like you can take them out for adventures, so your territory is also theirs. And a little dog explores that all too quickly, especially a sassy one like a pom. You'll find them going through cupboards you never knew they'd be able to reach, hiding under the sofa or sitting smack-dab in the middle of it, ruining the bed, fighting over your socks like they're made out of precious metals. It makes you a little sad to see them confined to the same hamster wheel that you are, but all you can do is let them have their fun and clean up after them. (Because when Crocodile catches on, he likes to punish both you and them by keeping you apart. The dogs, like you, are decoration, something to put a smile on his favorite possession's face, so they better not piss into some corner or tear apart the expensive cushions of his favorite chaise.)

So when you notice that the fabric they're fighting over is way too tight to be a sock - and worse yet, finely patterned in a way you recognize - you try to save the remnants, desperately telling your tiny pups to stop, stop, stop before their little teeth can tear the tie to shreds. But it's too late - it's already full of dog saliva and clearly chewed on at the edges, coupled with the distinct smell of animal, not your husband's favorite cologne.

He's not a man you want to hide this from (not to mention that you have no place to tuck it away, nothing truly belongs to you in this place), because he'll figure it out as soon as he'll search for that particular one some day. A punishment is inescapable - but would turn way worse if kept away from him. Disobedience and dishonesty are grave offenses to a man like Crocodile, offenses that might result in you losing your little companions if pushed too far. So you gasp and bear the bloody welts on your ass and the cock shoved down your throat out of frustration right afterwards - anything to make it up to him, anything to keep them.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE BOYS SEASON 3 EPISODE 4 HEAVY SPOILERS!!!!!

MOTHER’S MILK the duality of me being amused by Soldier Boy looking like a dummy in that clip with Solid Gold and MM totally losing his shit looking at him

Butcher’s powers are similar to Homelander’s, and Hughie’s are similar to A-Train’s. Coincidence? I think not. “You become the thing you seek to destroy” etc

I didn’t expect Supersonic to last long... in fact, I thought he’d die this episode. But I didn’t expect him to die offscreen.

However he’s trying to hide it, TempV *is* effecting Butcher’s personality... and he knows it. His caution against Hughie taking it and his view of it as a “punishment” is clear enough. The effects of TempV are also why he finally chose to push Ryan away. He’s pushing MM to be the leader because he knows he’s going to lose his mind completely to this (and believes it’s his cross to bear), and he’s worried for Hughie’s soul already. 

Hughie didn’t seem to have the capacity to care about Kimiko in the throes of his high... I worry this will quickly transform into an addiction for him... and I understand. They did a good job establishing Hughie’s feelings of powerlessness and not being able to protect the person he loves... in fact, he’s a weakness that Homelander is exploiting against Starlight.

The dildo fight was SO entertaining but then I felt instant sadness for Kimiko because she was so upset 😭

Laz Alonso’s acting in this episode was off the chain!! MM’s look of dread and rage when Soldier Boy emerged from that tank... I predict that if anyone else does take it, MM will be the next member of the group to fall victim to Temp V. He’s already told Butcher at the end of the episode that there is no more team, so what is there for him to lead? At the same time, MM is very sensible, so we’ll see if he faces temptation and whether he decides against it or goes for it. 

THE HAMSTER

I think anyone who had been watching trailers knew that Soldier Boy was the weapon The Boys were going to find. That blast is new according to Butcher—not a power Soldier Boy had back in the day (Russian experimentation I gather?). It’s been described in a power card I saw somewhere as “power nullification”. Kimiko can’t heal because her powers are (at least temporarily) nullified by the blast. A power like that presents a real threat to Homelander and Soldier Boy undoubtably has the capacity to kill him. 

In separate interviews with Kripke, Starr, and Ackles, Butcher, Soldier Boy, and Homelander have been described as three apex predators. It will be interesting to see Homelander face a real threat to his power this season. Imagine your enemy who gets temporary powers from a test tube being on par with you? I bet it won’t sit will with Homelander. 

It’s been established this season that Kimiko hates her powers, but I wonder if them being taken away (even if temporarily) will actually make her happy or if it will feel like losing a limb and make her feel helpless, especially with the people she cares about on the line. Homelander is definitely going to make moves toward killing all of The Boys soon.

I absolutely thought Victoria Nueman’s daughter was going to die when she put that shit in her. 

Stan Edgar absolutely eviscerated Homelander, and Homelander didn’t kill him because it would be like letting Stan win... plus I think Homelander is shrewd enough to suspect that Edgar has something else up his sleeve and that that’s why he’s so calm and collected. Maybe it’s TempV that has Edgar this calm, and/or maybe it’s that he had a hand in the capture of Soldier Boy. Soldier Boy isn’t just a Captain America parody, but a Winter Soldier parody as well. He’s been kept heavily sedated, I imagine to keep him compliant, and Jensen Ackles has said in interviews that Soldier Boy has PTSD from being tortured. Perhaps Edgar passed Soldier Boy to the Russians in return for the development of a weapon that could kill Homelander. I think Vought is always looking for a new way to control their supes. They use threats and bribes, they find weaknesses... with Homelander, they tried raising him from birth but completely denied him all affection as a child. With Ryan, they tried to correct by raising him in a loving home. Maybe Soldier Boy represents a different avenue for control—attempts at mind control just like Winter Soldier. Or hey—maybe they just wanted his blood to create a super weapon (and that’s why our hamster) and the torture was just being poked and prodded and kept helpless and sedated for decades. 

I suspect Soldier Boy doesn’t know how to control these energy blasts... at least not yet. It’s also possible that’s why they’ve been keeping him sedated in that tank. 

A-Train (at least assumedly) betrayed Supersonic (unless Homelander simply overheard everything A-Train, Supersonic, and The Deep said). However, I do think A-Train might come around for his own purposes. We’ll see.

hey, thanks for stopping by!! I definitely know what you mean with regards to SQQ, but I will assure you that there are very much still plenty of dedicated "sqq mains" out there. My sphere of influence on twitter is heavily biased toward people for whom sqq is their favourite character, so maybe I'm not getting a representative sample of the fandom overall, but he's definitely a very well loved character and has more than his fair share of people who do him justice in their writing and for whom he's their primary blorbo!! I remember posting this on reddit a while back and more than half of the responses (though admittedly a small sample size) had him as their fave. So, I don't think he's without appreciation!

But with that said, I do get where you’re coming from. I’m not gonna talk about readers who take his actions in bad faith and actively dislike him (HOW??), but as you’ve said, even among people who do like him, we don’t always understand him as well as we could. Most fans do get on some level that he’s an unreliable narrator, but it’s still very common for people to take him at face value and completely miss his depth. He’s a funny little guy with amusing narration, but he’s also kind and selfless, and he’s also smart and witty, and obnoxious and annoying, and frankly pretty insensitive, and deeply, deeply traumatised—and a million other things! He has layers.

I think all popular characters in fandom will inevitably start getting boiled down to a few key traits. And as somebody who’s been writing fic for 15 years, it’s really hard not to let your own biases colour your portrayal? I absolutely do it with SQQ!! I focus on his kinder, warmer aspects and downplay his flaws, I’ll readily admit that. We all get drawn to a favourite character for a certain trait, and that trait becomes the grit around which our interpretations form. If you’re somebody that likes silly characters, you’re going to write SQQ and dial his silliness up to eleven. If you like kind characters, you’ll write SQQ with emphasis on his kindness. None of these traits are OOC in and of themselves, but if you start to only read fanfic and don’t revisit the source material, you can get lost in what’s popular and forget all the depth that actually made them interesting in the first place. I don’t really know where I’m going with this, but I'll add that I think protagonists are just particularly prone to this happening because they're usually the one the audience relates to most.

Idk if any of that really addresses the stuff you were talking about. You mentioned dom top Binghe/pillow princess sqq and to be honest I’m kind of reluctant to talk about this in depth because I’ve received negative comments in the past for supposedly being anti-bottom Binghe, when all I’ve ever said on this matter is that I think it’s a bit weird to insist that “I’m scared of hurting you so I might as well let you do it” is proof that Binghe is canonically a bottom. The fact that someone found that statement so threatening to their view of the characters that they would go to my ao3 page, click on the first fic they saw that happened to feature bottom SQQ and leave their holier-than-thou anonymous opinion there is just bizarre to me.

To be honest tho, it tends to be Binghe characterisation that puts me off moreso than Shen Qingqiu. The only SQQ characterisation that truly bothers me is when people write him as willing to hurt Binghe, or willing to do anything with underage Binghe, but there is a LOT of Binghe stuff that I’m sensitive too. Idk if you read this thread of mine but like, even my friends whom I love make “Binghe stalking/imprisoning/"atticwifing" SQQ” jokes and these bother me way more than any random stranger saying SQQ would get off on spanking Binghe.

And like, it’s kind of hard because objectively, Binghe is a very dark character, so it doesn't feel particularly OOC to say he would do those things, but it's about framing. It bothers me when the emphasis is on how fucked up he is and not how hard he's trying, because it implies a level of futility that I just don’t think is there in canon. To me the beauty of him is in how much doing right by SQQ doesn't come naturally to him, but he ultimately decides to do it anyway because he wants SQQ to be happy. (I feel it needs to be said that I don't mean this in a judgy "if you write dark Binghe you don't understand him and are a bad person" way. Just that I myself can't handle that, and I strongly disagree if you think it's where Bingqiu's relationship is headed).

but idk, I've found my corner and I'm very happy here. I actually don't read fic as often as you'd think, mostly because I am sooooo picky, so I totally get where you're coming from :) but the fandom is still decently sized and very diverse, so there are always going to be at least a few people who share your feelings, if you can find them!

here’s a little Cali description (I’ll skip physical features for another, long long time) there’s will come in long dabbles. If you don’t like it, the entire paragraph should be summed up in the first sentence.

Personality: Cali is.. dull? Her personality consists of just.. one trait? She’s just kind, her overall goal in mind is to make someone smile, whomever she may be talking to. Doing this means she changes her personality a bit for each person y’know how it is. Especially if she likes the person generally. Only once you’re able to get her to feel comfortable she’ll be the very weird person she is. She sends memes to her friends, odd.. is a way to describe it. She works better underprepared and under pressure. It’s very complicated but if she knows nothing about what the task is, she does it better? Because if she doesn’t know how to do it correctly she’ll feel obligated to learn as quickly as possible and get it done? If Cali knows how to do something, it’s more of a chore than a challenge. Her biggest weakness is how kind she it, it’s hard for her to say no and she gets burnt out doing all these favors that she agreed to. She’s a people pleaser through and through.

pet peeves/deal breaker: a big one is interrupting her when she talks, it gets bad. Growing up she was always sorta interrupted so after a few times she gets emotionally upset! That being said she’s quick to tears, it just happens with all emotions for her. She resorts to sadness/discomfort it many situations. A dealbreaker is someone who finds that as weakness or a negative trait. She is learning to live with being able to sort through she emotions and knowing how she feels. So someone pushing down her feelings is a big no-no. People who are tall and are kind to her, as in. She feels pitied on.. or something. It genuinely makes me upset and mad when someone a full foot taller than me takes pity to me. it makes her mad too. She can handle herself, that’s her mindset. ALSO a bigger one is people who take her shopping, not just shopping but shopping without a list. Please don’t she’s begging you, the thought of walking around aimlessly makes her lose a bit of joy on the inside. It’s pointless and unnecessary, if you want something add it to the list and then buy it next time but please!! Have a plan!!

for traits she likes:

she’s very attracted to nonchalant or easy going souls, mostly because she grew up with four parents up her a** about grades, extra circulars and such. She grew up under constant pressure, so someone who can just let her be herself, lazy or not. It such a good trait for her.

She also tends to lean towards people who could say no for her, she has a problem with it, so anyone who could assist her with her issues of stating her boundaries would be deeply appreciated.

hobbies: She paints! It’s relaxing and fun to make. Easy gift making too. The girl also had a hobbies of gaming in her free time, what better way to de-stress then some Doom.. >:-). other than that, she’s a “pick up something master it, drop it” sorta girl.

favorite items:

Anything that’s red. She has a nack for collecting red colored stuff. It’s a bit concerning. Her entire bedroom looked like someone dropped a red bomb and now you see red. Everywhere. Don’t go into her room it’s a nightmare.

Ok ok hear me out, the reason I chose mango is cause with people she likes, she’s a communication queen~ mango does not fear speaking her mind, so Cali won’t ever have to guess with her. And mango respects boundaries as well. She’s not the type to baby her SO at all. She and cali would handle each other pretty well when it comes to their values I believe

Mango is fiercely protective when she needs to be, but not in a way that belittles or baby’s her partner like some of the others do. She’s all about making sure her partner knows they have just as much power as she does to spook off the unwanted people lol. Basically when she’s protective, she acts like a guard dog and a hype man somehow

Mango is at the stage in her life where she’s no longer just working to survive. Now that she’s on her feet, she can start thinking about herself and what she wants to do with her time… but the problem is that she has no clue! Right now mango is trying out hobbies, so someone creative like cali would be great for her to be around

Be careful about getting mango hooked to online gaming. She will learn how to trash talk and will scream at kids on the internet lol.
