Church of Misery- Master of Brutality (2001)

En 1995, tras haber disuelto su conjunto de Trash, Salem, Tatsu Mikami junta al guitarrista Tomohiro Nishimura, el baterista Hideki Shimizu, y el vocalista Kazuhiro Asaeda que pronto sera reemplazado por Noubkazu Chow, forma Church of Misery, banda de marcado estilo Doom que evoca musical y simbólicamente a los primeros años de Black Sabbath. Su devoción por los británicos fundadores del genero mas duro hasta entonces conocido es tal que su primer disco de lanzamiento oficial, este que traigo hoy, lleva como titulo "Master of Brutality", clara alusión a la obra maestra de Sabbath, "Master of Reality". Tal es así que hasta existe una tapa alternativa imitando aquella mítica del disco de 1971. Sin embargo, en uno de los aspectos en el que los japoneses se distancian de Sabbath es en sus líricas: La cosa va de asesinos seriales y sus truculentas historias. Materia harto abordada en el genero que Church of Misery llevara al extremo con una apuesta sensacional incluyendo retazos de noticias a modo introductorio o cosas por el estilo, ademas de acompañar los títulos de las canciones con los nombres de los asesinos a los que se le dedica la canción. En cuanto al sonido, Church of Misery suena pesado en serio, con sus tendencias Doom acrecentando el misterio y machacando con fiereza en ese hermoso tempo que nos ofrece el genero ejecutados aquí con un excelente dominio desde lo técnico. Guitarras depuradisimas y muy (pero muy) al palo con unos riffs diabólicos y un acompañamiento rítmico de un acaudalado soporte dan a la banda la gracia que todo aquel que quiera incursionar en el metal debe tener. Polenta, poder, energía, y la sabiduría para tocar las fibras exactas en los momentos exactos. El disco no resiste criticas: Se consolida entre los mejores álbumes del genero de la década pasada con un solvente estilo que puede amenazar purista o conservador pero que poco tiene de eso y un contundente sonido a pura distorsión y fuego. Infaltable.

Biblia Kosho-dou no Jiken Techou Live-Action Film Casts Haru Kuroki, Shūhei Nomura

The staff of the live-action film adaptation of En Mikami's Antiquarian Bookshop Biblia's Case Files (Biblia Kosho-dō no Jiken Techō) novel series revealed the main cast and 2018 opening on Wednesday. Yukiko Mishima (Shiawase no Pan, Tsukuroi Tatsu Hito) is directing the film. The cast includes Haru Kuroki (seen below left) as Shioriko Shinokawa, and Shūhei Nomura (right) as Daisuke Goura.
