I read about the "What if Takemichi was a girl" in one of your post and i want to add.

First time that Hina and Kisaki see Takemichi, they didn't know that it was a boy.

Oh man this is quite a few days late LMFAO. in my defense i do not get nottifs for this blog. Also youve just unleashed a beast by asking this hope youre ready <3

So, first fun fact! We actually had an entire divergent setup for if fetch lived, and an alterbate confrontation with baroness if he died before that.

First up, if fetch died before being able to confront baroness (we didnt know when wed have that confrontation just yet ao we wanted to cover all our bases) it would have been Maitake threatening Baroness with the gasoline as well as her mustard gas (as a mooshroom hybrid she produces Toxins and Spores she can weaponize).

If fetch lived, he would have been in the mansion when it went up in flames. Instead of Mona and King leaving on their own, they would have run into Fetch, and they would have had an altercation that ended in fetch finding out that mona is a shifter (friendly reminder that he didnt know that the entire time theyve been friends, which went back to early high school :])

Instead of jumping out the window, he decides its safer to climb the roof so the other hunters can find him easier and get him down. Knights room was on the second floor, and he was already pushing it with his (gestures at him) condition. and he didnt want to break his legs or something

There was this whole speech i had planned where he stares at the commotion of doomsday on the roof and have a Big Badass Monologue but alas 😔

He also would have been there for crown's exorcism, he was the one to tackle crown and hold him down while they got ready rather than corpse. Also this bit that canonized his polyamory with corpse and koko :3

(Full disclosure: fetch got with koko 2 weeks after coming to HQ because koko found him super interesting and endearing, and corpse later got attatched to him since he was the main one taking care of him in the med ward and they bonded heavily over Chronic Pain And Illnesses)

Fetch would have gone on to be a top operator in the Lotus branch, with plenty of good company to keep him happy. He had a dog, 2 boyfriends, and a myriad of friends at HQ, and the hunters provided him with the safety and stability he'd been looking for the entire time. Despite his nightmares and trauma and bad memories, if he lived he would have been happy

Corpse and Koko still mourn him together. Maitake still keeps bacon bits in the cupboard. Kassidy (who yall never got to see whcih is aCRIME because i love her and she was also one of fetch's besties) still paints some of her nails black because it was his favorite look on her. He may have not been there for a long time, but his absence is very very felt at HQ.

my final thoughts on the tokyo revengers ending (this is completely subjective! everyone will have a different opinion on it and if you liked the ending then I'm happy for you!)

now that the "excitement" of reading tr 278 has worn out I can't help but feel even more??? dissatisfied??

I've said this before, but even when we just had the leaks, this chapter felt more like a filler than a finale, and reading it and mulling over it just confirmed my thoughts on the matter.

The most interesting thing (plot-wise) that happens is the big reveal that chifuyu kept all of his memories from the past timelines; and as happy as I was to read that, it surely wasn't "enough" for this to be considered a finale (IMO, remember this is all subjective).

I like it because it's a feel-good chapter, that makes you chuckle at the interactions between the characters and that gives you an idea of how they're all doing.

At the same time tho, the jump between takemichi dying and the takehina wedding is so sudden that it leaves me confused. As plenty of fans have said, this cancels out all the characters' development in a way that we havent seen before (aside from chifuyu), and it doesn't give you the answers you need!! How did they all end up being friends, how did the pre-existing bonds change, how did maitake solve some of the problems, ESPECIALLY the ones they didnt know about/had no control over!!

[EDIT: for example, I would have loved to see shin and takemichi interact more!!!]

yeah, chifuyu knows about takemichi's time travel, but are they still best friends?? why has naoto changed so much?? why is south the way he is now??

ALSO??? takemichi says MAYBE 10 words this chapter???? he looks so passive in the 3 pages he's in, it's like he's barely even there, despite being the protagonist.

idk, it just feels so inconclusive and simple for an ending, especially when compared to how complex the rest of the story is.

OJT EATS | Sapporo Genghis Khan

Another meal that you are supposed to definitely try when in Hokkaido is the very strangely named Jingusukan or Genghis Khan. Named after the historical warlord, it is in fact a meal of self barbecued lamb. We couldn't turn down the chance to give it a go so off we went to Sapporo Genghis Khan.

We'll admit, we had no real idea what to expect or how we were meant to order. Luckily, the place was clearly no stranger to non-Japanese speakers and we got a handy little card telling us what we were in for.

So shortly after sitting down, we got a bucket of coals with a cast iron grill on top of it and 2 plates of raw lamb. This very quickly made its way onto the grill and after a short while, dipping in some soy and other seasoning. The lamb was beautifully tender and really flavourful. Lamb in Asia can be quite gamey but this wasn't at all.

We wanted to try some of the sides as well so first up was this butter rice with bonito flakes. Amazingly aromatic with the butter and the bonito; perfect with grilled lamb.

We also ordered some maitake mushrooms. We weren't quite expecting just a massive clump of them but they were easy enough to break apart and chuck on the grill.

Along with all of that, we wanted some veg and so ordered a plate of assorted veg and to be fair, that is exactly what we got, and nothing more. There was no marinade or seasoning, it was just a literal plate of raw reg.

We got automatically given a big plate of bean sprouts to go on our grill.

The other thing that came without us ordering it was the onion on the grill.

This was a really fun experience. The food was really simple but really tasty. The lamb was really good quality and tasted great (apart from when we accidentally overcooked it). T`he things that came with it were pretty plain but like with hotpot, we had dipping sauces. The restaurant itself was also super cosy and as you can imagine full of smoking grills!

Mushroom Risotto

Used 1/2 cup rice for a dinner portion for one with 6 big dried morels. Would also work as an appetizer for 2. Didn’t use peas. Added 1/2 the morels at the “add peas” step--not at the beginning. Used about 1/8 tsp dried thyme and 4 leaves fresh sage. Used 2 big ice cubes (~1.5 cups) of parmesan/leek broth plus more mushroom liquid from rehydrating the morels. Added a splash of cream and a good squeeze of lemon at the end. Topped with more morels cooked separately, parsley and parmesan. Took 4-5 minutes less than the recommended cooking time to get to al dente.

Yield: 6 servings

6 to 7 cups chicken, vegetable or garlic broth or stock, as needed

Salt and freshly ground pepper

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

½ cup finely chopped onion, or 2 shallots, minced

¾ to 1 pound wild mushrooms, cleaned if necessary and torn or sliced into smaller pieces if thick (small wild mushrooms should be left whole, mushrooms like maitake can just be separated into small pieces)

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves or chopped sage

1 ½cups arborio or carnaroli rice

½ cup dry white wine, such as pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc

1 cup frozen peas, thawed (optional)

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, or a mixture of Parmesan and Pecorino Romano

Bring stock or broth to a simmer in a saucepan, with a ladle nearby. Make sure stock is well seasoned, and keep it simmering on the stove.

Heat oil in a wide, heavy nonstick skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add onions or shallots and cook gently until just tender, 3 to 5 minutes.

Turn up heat and add mushrooms. Cook, stirring, until they begin to sweat, about 3 minutes, then add garlic and thyme or sage. Cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Season mushrooms with salt and pepper and continue to cook over medium heat until they are soft. Taste and adjust seasoning.

Add rice and stir until grains begin to crackle. Add wine and cook, stirring, until wine is no longer visible in pan. Stir in enough simmering stock to just cover the rice. The stock should bubble slowly. Cook, stirring often and vigorously, until stock is just about absorbed. Add another ladleful or two of stock and continue cooking, not too fast and not too slowly, stirring often and adding more stock when rice is almost dry, for 15 minutes.

Add peas, if using, and continue adding stock and stirring for another 10 minutes. Rice should be tender all the way through but still al dente. Taste now and adjust seasoning.

Add another ladleful or two of stock to rice. Stir in parsley and Parmesan, and remove from heat. Season with black pepper and serve right away in wide soup bowls or on plates.
