Apple CEO Tim Cook: Very happy to be back in China, gain a lot every time I come to China.

On March 25th, Apple CEO Tim Cook made an appearance at the "China Development High-Level Forum 2023 Annual Meeting" and expressed his pleasure at being able to return to China. He stated that every time he comes to China, he gains a lot of knowledge. During a sub-forum called "Together Towards the Future" on Saturday, Cook said that this year marks Apple's 30th anniversary in the Chinese market. In 1993, Apple set up an office in Beijing. He also mentioned that his relationship with China goes back even before joining Apple. Despite the ongoing tension between China and the US, Cook, along with other American business leaders such as investment guru Dalio and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, attended the China Development High-Level Forum held in Beijing this weekend. According to some foreign media reports, this is also Cook's first visit to China since the pandemic began. On the afternoon of the 24th, a netizen posted a video on Weibo claiming that Cook appeared at the Apple retail store in Sanlitun, Beijing. Cook himself also tweeted that evening expressing his happiness to meet with his team and customers. When asked about his experience returning to China during the pandemic, the head of the American high-tech company said that he feels very good. Apple tends to be highly secretive about its supply chain. It’s for this reason that a recent Tweet from its CEO, Tim Cook, drew a lot of attention. In it, we see Cook with Sony CEO, Kenichiro Yoshida, as they look over a pair of iPhones that appears to have some type of testing apparatus, likely used for Sony Semiconductor image sensors.

"Thanks to Ken (Yoshida) and everyone on the team for showing me around the cutting-edge facility in Kumamoto today," he said.

Aside from the image, Cook confirmed that Apple has been using Sony Semiconductor image sensors ‘for over a decade to create the leading camera sensors for iPhone.’

A recent report disclosed that the iPhone 15 series could boast a cutting-edge Sony image sensor that’s capable of clearly capturing a person's face even against bright backlighting. 

However, Sony has yet to put the rumored sensors into production. They will reportedly be produced at the company's Nagasaki plant.
