Strange Friendship AU

The Strange Friendship AU is about Branch and DJ Suki's strange friendship and how they become closer leading up to the events of Trolls. NOT SHIP. Main points

DJ's full name is Deedee Jamie Suki and she is 23 years old here.

She knew Branch, Floyd and Clay before they escaped Bergen Town. Here, Floyd and Clay didn't leave the Troll Tree and stayed with Branch with the three sometimes helping Rosiepuff take care of the younger Trollings including DJ who remembers Branch singing.

Cooper is 20 and DJ's younger adoptive brother. He was found by her and her older brother Eric while an egg and was taken in by their mother, AJ (Alma Jamie) Suki

DJ is CJ's (Clementine Jamie) primary guardian since the latter's father Eric and his wife disappeared one day, leaving CJ's egg and their pod.

DJ and CJ are Reggaeton Trolls who are a Subgenre of Latin, Pop and Techno. Here, Reggaeton Trolls can change form from their Pop forms to their Techno forms (Referred to as Mer-Trolls pre-World Tour)

DJ develops a close friendship with Branch even though he won't admit it, learning about BroZone and how Rosiepuff died.

Cooper is also similarly close to Branch.

DJ will end up with Trollex following the events of World Tour

Everyone migrating over to Tumblr because Twitter has become too unbearable for them is both hilarious and pathetic.

Aah yes, Tumblr, the site you used to be too good for when you sat in your Twitter cave acting superior. Tumblr, the site that Twitter users kept stealing from when making "new" content. Not unique to Twitter though. Every other site (Twitter, TikTok, Reddt etc) all act superior to Tumblr while stealing its content. Hell, there are YouTubers who has made several videos just reading the crazy stuff on Tumblr.

And now you come with your tail between your legs because the cesspool you were wading in became too much even for you. Hilarious and pathetic. I would argue that it should be a lesson to never act smug and superior, because you never know when it will come back and bite you. But we all know that's gonna fall on deaf years.

Tumblr is a hilarious site. It's also a fcking cockroach of a site. It's still here, posting shitty memes and braindead content, despite the mods having no idea what they're doing. But hey, at least we know this place is a mess. Trust me, no one makes fun of Tumblr more than the people who frequent the place. So if you're migrating from Twitter, don't expect Twitter 2.0. Mute Branch Au: Trolls who learned sign language.

King Peppy: Obviously, the first one to know it due to helping Branch develop it. Can do full conversations.

Poppy: Was first taught by her dad; before the first movie, she only knew major phrases and a few words. As the movie progressed, she was able to learn more complicated sentences, earning her own name sign. In The Beat Goes On, she has a full understanding of the language and helps Branch create new words as he becomes more involved in the community.

Smidge: Being Poppy's helper, she already knew a few words. Now that Branch is in the village more often, she has more opportunities to practice. Branch also teaches her a few animal calls so she can help Milton with the critters.

Biggie: The gentle troll always felt guilty for not understanding Branch; when the opportunity to learn troll sign (pending name) appeared, he lept at the chance. Mr. Dinkles is his tutor (don't ask how he teaches. It's best not to know.)

Cooper: Oddly enough, the sweet goofball had no problem learning the language, even helped create morse code in case Branch couldn't be seen or had his hands full.

Guy Diamond: At first, Guy struggled with learning the language, but since Branch has an impressive collection of literary works, he found it good motivation if it meant having another troll that can keep up with him in the more complex writings.

Chenille and Satin: Like Guy, the two struggled with learning the language until Model Behavior. There were many fashion terms that Branch hadn't created signs for, so they helped create them. Now, they ask him to be an occasional model while respecting his preferences.

Dj Suki: Suki was the last one to learn due to her inconsistent sleeping schedule. It took a lot of practice until she could keep a conversation with him. Her niece Cj, though, had an easier time, so she helped her auntie with learning it.

Some more Keith & Branch as brother headcannons!

These ones are set after Branches colors return

- The first thing Keith does when Branch gets his colors back, is excitedly point out that Branches hair matches his own.

- With Branch trying to reintegrate back into the village, he’s not spending all his time in the woods anymore and instead spends a lot of time with the Snackpack. This does not stop Keith from following Branch around, nor does Branch stop him. He likes their little schedule they have going on, even if what they're doing has changed.

- The Snackpack takes this in stride, and each of them absolutely adore Keith (Plus, slight trauma bond from their small time being captured by Chef)

- Sometimes when they’re explaining certain holidays to Branch, they’ll pretend they're explaining it to just Keith, to make Branch feel better.

- Out of the rest of the snackpack, Keith probably ends up being the closest to Smidge, with Smidge following around & helping Poppy, Keith following & hanging around Branch, and Branch & Poppy hanging out together too. Plus, the two can be seen as intense in their own ways, so I can see them getting along.

- Because CJ and Keith become friends, DJ and Branch end up hanging out a lot more too. The two totally tease each other a bunch

- Since he’s a young kid with a very active (And morbid) imagination, Keith often gets horrible nightmares from being captured by the Bergens and then witnessing Creek being ‘eaten’.

- He’s a little embarrassed by them at first, and refuses to bring it up to anyone. His parents know, because they hear him screaming at night, but this is one of the only things he doesn’t tell Branch. However, his parents struggle a bit, not knowing how to help Keith, so his mom, Tulip, would start asking around to see if anyone knows how to deal with constant night terrors and would be willing to help. She eventually asks Branch (She knows she should have just gone to him first, but she also didn’t want to assume that, just because he was grey for so long meant he got regular night terrors), who has a whole list of things that could help. The list ranges from ways to help Keith go back to sleep, to things that could help him get into a more relaxed/deep sleep from the beginning.

- Keith also copes through his stories. They get darker, and less of them have happy endings for a while.

No Troll left behind (no exceptions)

Poppy looked at her Trolls. She had tried so hard to get ahead of the Rock Queens plan, but had been on the back foot from the beginning.

Add in betrayals and an uneven playing field, shed ended up here, in an giant cell with the rest of her people. The enormous circular room was decided into 5 sections, allowing all the other tribes to see each other.

"Queen Poppy?"

She quickly dried her eyes and turned to the group of trollings.

"Yes, Keith?"

The little green trolling shifted back and forth in front of her.

"We've been talking and we don't want to be Rock trolls. And we don't want anyone else to be turned in to Rock trolls either."

Poppy hid a grimace. As soon as Barb figured out that she still had the Pop string in her hair, she doubted there would be much of a choice to be had .

"I know guys. I don't either but as long as Queen Barb doesn't have our sting we should be safe."

Keith stared up at her. And quirked an eyebrow. It was times like this that really showed Branch's influence on the kids. He leaned forward and whispered

"Queen Poppy, we know you have it."

She just barely stopped her self from rearing back.

"I don't.."

"We think you should break it"

It felt like she had been dunked in ice water.

Destroy the Pop string. Destroy the core of their music.

In her silence, Keith continued. "If the string gets broken, then the Rock Queen can't finish her guitar and she can't turn everyone into Rock trolls."

Taking a shuddering breath, she quietly replied, looking the all the trollings of her village, her people.

"But Keith, kids, if I do that we won't have Pop anymore. We won't have music. We won't ever be happy again."

That got a scoff from CJ, standing behind Keith. "We can still be happy. My Dad's Grey and he still gets happy. Isn't Branch sometimes happy too and he's Grey?

Taking a second, she looked around at all her Trolls. Grey wasn't uncommon among the blues, pinks, purple and green. Her tribe had survived horrors the others couldn't even dream about.

She had seen how some of the other tribes were. Whole and sturdy within themselves.

But Pop had had to change over the centuries of captivity. The ability to adapt had always been a core part of them, Pop being the most fluid of music.

But under the stress of yearly (and at the whim of the Head Chef's peckishness) harvest, they had learned to bolster each other.

Going Grey wasn't a sign of shame it had once been. To be Grey and still here, still trying was a sign of strength. The Grey of the village had always been supportive of their colourful families.

Making sure that they were protected, and always loving and being loved in their own ways.

She was proud of her tribe.

And now, the youngest generation, the first generation to be fully born outside the Troll tree and have no grey members, were willing to give up their music so no other tribe would lose theirs.

She was so proud and so heartbreakingly devastated.

A small hand touched her face where she knelt.

Priscilla smiled at her.

"Come on, Queen Poppy, No Troll left behind remember?"

Taking a shaky breath, holding her tears back, she gave a smile in return.

"No troll left behind".

I mainlined TBGO in like 3 days. Love that show so much. The Trollings are adorable kids. I also wanted to show that its the Pop Trolls as a whole that have changed. Going Grey to the kids isnt a end of the world thing.

They know that the Greys dont sing and do lots of other stuff the colourful members of their tribe do, but they're still part of their tribe. They still love them, still there if the kids need them just like anyone else in the tribe is.

(The Pop trolls have a very 'it takes a village' mentality partly because before 20 years ago it was not uncommon to loose a parent or parents to trollstice, so support system ftw.)

And the kids grew up with that. So loosing their music is sad and they don't want to do it. But they don't want to be Rock Trolls more and this way, the other tribes wont be forced to loose their music to Rock as well.
