Me and My Husband
Written By: Mitski
Artist: Mitski
Released: 2018
“Me and My Husband” is the seventh track of Mitski’s fifth studio album Be The Cowboy released in August 2018. Like earlier tracks on the album such as ‘Nobody’, ‘Me and My Husband’ explores the loneliness Mitski felt while writing the album, although this time she takes on the persona of a suburban housewife. As she explained to GQ: “If you’re a suburban mom surrounded by family with a nice life you still feel alone. On tour, I’m surrounded by people all the time but it’s lonely.” Despite the song’s upbeat tone the lyrics portray a housewife stubbornly sticking by her husband even though she may not be happy. Mitski claims the song isn’t personal and isn’t meant to be reflection of her views on marriage or settling down as she told The Outline: “I try to keep a sense of humor about all this stuff. I’m not married, I don’t have a husband, but I was just thinking about being a woman with a man in a long term relationship. I used a stereotype of the suburban, old-fashioned housewife to kind of accentuate my point.”
[Verse 1] I steal a few breaths from the world for a minute And then I'll be nothing forever And all of my memories And all of the things I have seen will be gone With my eyes, with my body, with me [Chorus] But me and my husband We are doing better It's always been just him and me Together So I bet all I have on that Furrowed brow And at least in this lifetime We're sticking together Me and my husband We're sticking together [Verse 2] And I'm the idiot with the painted face In the corner, taking up space But when he walks in, I am loved, I am loved [Chorus] Me and my husband We are doing better It's always been just him and me Together So I bet all I have on that Furrowed brow And at least in this lifetime We're sticking together Me and my husband We're sticking together Me and my husband We are doing better

Our House
Written By: Graham Nash
Artist: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Released: 1970
Cover included: The Head and the Heart, 2021
“Our House” is a song written by British singer-songwriter Graham Nash and recorded by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on their album Déjà Vu. At the time Graham Nash & Joni Mitchell were dating and the time the two spent that particular day after purchasing a vase on Ventura Boulevard inspired this song. Nash has stated that he wrote this song in a hour. In October 2013, in an interview with Terry Gross on NPR’s Fresh Air, Nash elaborated: “Well, it’s an ordinary moment. What happened is that Joni [Mitchell] and I – I don’t know whether you know anything about Los Angeles, but on Ventura Boulevard in the Valley, there’s a very famous deli called Art’s Deli. And we’d been to breakfast there. We’re going to get into Joan’s car, and we pass an antique store. And we’re looking in the window, and she saw a very beautiful vase that she wanted to buy … I persuaded her to buy this vase. It wasn’t very expensive, and we took it home. It was a very grey, kind of sleety, drizzly L.A. morning. And we got to the house in Laurel Canyon, and I said – got through the front door and I said, you know what? I’ll light a fire. Why don’t you put some flowers in that vase that you just bought? Well, she was in the garden getting flowers. That meant she was not at her piano, but I was … And an hour later ‘Our House’ was born, out of an incredibly ordinary moment that many, many people have experienced.”
[Verse 1] I'll light the fire You place the flowers in the vase That you bought today [Verse 2] Staring at the fire For hours and hours while I listen to you Play your love songs all night long For me, only for me [Verse 3] Come to me now And rest your head for just five minutes Everything is done [Verse 4] Such a cozy room The windows are illuminated by the evening Sunshine through them, fiery gems For you, only for you [Chorus] Our house is a very, very, very fine house With two cats in the yard Life used to be so hard Now everything is easy cause of you And our [Interlude] La-la, la-la-la la la… [Chorus] Our house is a very, very, very fine house (fine house) With two cats in the yard Life used to be so hard Now everything is easy cause of you And our [Verse 1] I'll light the fire While you place the flowers in the vase That you bought today

She's a good girl, loves her mama
Loves Jesus and America too
She's a good girl, is crazy 'bout Elvis
Loves horses and her boyfriend too
And it's a long day livin' in Reseda
There's a freeway runnin' through the yard
And I'm a bad boy, 'cause I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy for breakin' her heart
And I'm free
Free fallin'
Yeah, I'm free
Free fallin'
And all the vampires walkin' through the valley
Move west down Ventura Boulevard (Ventura Boulevard)
And all the bad boys are standin' in the shadows
And the good girls are home with broken hearts
And I'm free
I'm free fallin'
Yeah, I'm free
Free fallin'
Free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm
Free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm
I wanna glide down over Mulholland (oh-ah)
I wanna write her name in the sky (oh-ah)
I'm gonna free fall out into nothin' (oh-ah)
Gonna leave this world for awhile (oh-ah)
And I'm free (free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm)
Free fallin' (free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm)
Yeah, I'm free (free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm)
Free fallin' (free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm)
Free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm
Yeah, I'm free
Free fallin'
Oh! (Free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm)
Free fallin' (free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm)
And I'm free (free fallin', now I'm free fallin') oh! (Now I'm)
Free fallin' (free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm)
Free fallin', now I'm free fallin', now I'm

The night Bob Dylan abandoned me at a petrol station
About 20 years ago, I was in Mexico making a documentary. Exhausted, I travelled home via Los Angeles to stay a few days with a musician friend of mine. When I arrived my friend said, “You’ve come at the right time, Bob Dylan is coming round for dinner tonight.” I was in a lather of excitement as Dylan is one of my heroes.
So in due course Bob Dylan arrives and when he sees there is a stranger, an infidel who he isn’t expecting, a look of panic sweeps over him and he pulls the toggles on this hoodie he is wearing over his bushy hair, so that all that is left is this small hole.
He then proceeds to eat the Mexican food we were having through this little hole, so that by the end of the meal the salsa and guacamole is smeared round the hood. I could hear him speaking in that inimitable Bob Dylan voice, but could not see him. At one point he started playing a little children’s keyboard and sang an old gospel song. I can’t think of a more searingly surreal moment in my life!
Eventually, after a few hours, Bob leaves, still with the hood round his face. As we sat there digesting the experience there was a knock on the door. I answered and there is Dylan standing there now with his hood off. He says, “I’ve got no gas in my truck. Could someone come with me to a gas station?” Given the attention of fans, he wouldn’t fill his own tank.
Hoping to finally speak to him, I say: “Well, I’ll go.” So I get in this battered old Dodge truck with Bob Dylan driving down Ventura Boulevard. This was in Encino which is out in the Los Angeles suburbs. We drive in silence past gas station after gas station and I am saying: “Bob, that’s a gas station… there’s another gas station…” But he’s not stopping. “No,” he says. “I know this one on Laurel and Ventura…”
We eventually pull into this gas station, and now it’s about one in the morning. He gives me his credit card (I didn’t check if it said Robert Zimmerman), I swipe it at the pump, fill up the gas, and, as I am about to get back in the truck, he says: “No man, I gotta go, I got to go.” He pulls the door shut on me and then drives off down the road, leaving me on my own on the forecourt.
I hadn’t a cent in my pocket. Nothing. I had to ring my host call collect – this was before mobiles – and get him to pick me up. I even had to ask the gas station cashier where I was, because I’d never been to LA before.
I’ve worked with Bob since, but I’ve never mentioned that strange night to him.

Hundreds gathered Sunday at a Ventura County, California, intersection where a week earlier, a 69-year-old Jewish man struck his head on concrete and later died after a confrontation with an unnamed pro-Palestinian protester.
Flowers, wreaths, candles and letters surrounded the spot in front of the gas station at Westlake and Thousand Oaks Boulevards, where Paul Kessler sustained his fatal injuries.
One man held a sign that read, "We want justice for Paul," per footage shared with Fox News Digital. Others bandied Israeli flags and sang "Oseh Shalom" — a Hebrew song praying for peace for the country, its people and the world.
PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTESTER 'TRIED TO BAIT' ELDERLY JEWISH MAN BEFORE FATAL ALTERCATION, WITNESS SAYS
Blood still marked the ground where Kessler's head struck the sidewalk in widely-shared footage from around 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 showing medics attending to a bleeding but alert Kessler at the scene as police questioned onlookers.

Kessler was pronounced dead at nearby Los Robles Hospital about 10 hours after the incident. Per the Ventura County Medical Examiner during a press conference Tuesday, Kessler's non-lethal injuries were noted on the left side of his face, while internal injuries included skull fractures, swelling and bruising to the brain.
Kessler's manner of death was determined to be homicide, Medical Examiner Christopher Young said.
A 50-year-old pro-Palestinian protester is now a suspect in Kessler's death, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said. An arrest has yet to be made pending further investigation of bystander and security video footage.
On Sunday, concentric hearts drawn in a rainbow of chalk surrounded the lingering stains. Rabbis prayed with Tefilin, black leather boxes containing parchment scrolls, and invited attendees to do the same.
JEWISH COMMUNITY IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 'TERRIFIED' AFTER DEATH OF PAUL KESSLER, RABBI SAYS
Steven Schneider, an attendee who shared footage with Fox News Digital, said the gathering was "healing" for the community. He only saw one agitator drive past during his several hours at the event.
"At the end of the day, he's a Jew and he stood with what I agree with — we agreed that we need to stand and fight in Israel," Schneider said Tuesday.
Rabbi Ari Averbach from Temple Etz Chaim — Kessler's synagogue for several years before his death — told Fox News Digital that their community held their own vigil last Wednesday.
"We all moved here because our community is known for being so welcoming, so safe, so mixed. Now we're questioning: ‘Is it safe?’ ‘Can we live here comfortably?’"
Schneider said the Jewish community in Westlake Village is "shocked to hear such [a] thing could happen" in their quiet home.
"They showed up to support Israel, they showed up to support the hostages, but they also showed up to support Paul," Schneider said.
PROFESSOR WHO PRAISED HAMAS 'RESISTANCE FIGHTERS' ON GLIDERS NO LONGER EMPLOYED BY EMORY UNIVERSITY
Last year, area residents banded together to protest books and videos about being transgender shown to Conejo Valley Unified School District children, as previously reported by Fox News Digital.
"It wasn't too long when the Muslim community was with us on our schools for what they were doing to our children," Schneider, who was interviewed by Fox at the time, recalled Tuesday.
HILLARY CLINTON CALLS FOR HAMAS' ELIMINATION, SAYS ALL BLOODSHED IN GAZA IS ON ITS HANDS
"[The Hamas-Israel conflict] puts people in a strange position — this is bigger than a school, this is bigger than what happened previously. This has to do with real hate, it has to do with the consequences of life," Schneider said. "This is dividing communities all over the United States."
Per a Tuesday interview with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, deputies are still interviewing witnesses coming forward about the incident and reviewing a "large amount" of footage.
Schneider urged anyone with additional footage from the Nov. 5 incident to come forward and speak with police.
"We all want justice for Paul," Schneider said. "But we have to allow [police] to do what they do. I have nothing but faith that they're going to figure things out. If there's an arrest to be made, an arrest will be made."

@allvalley100 here’s my response to the What You Don’t Know prompt!
“Mandy, Mandy, Mandy,” Terry Silver said, cackling and looking almost fond as he wiped off the tagliatelle Amanda Larusso had chucked at him at her favorite Italian place on Ventura Boulevard… outside Daniel’s cooking, of course.
“Don’t call me that—”
“You still don’t know, after all these years?”
“Don’t know what, Terrance?” Memories of a engagement her father forced on her in the first place to save his struggling business, a one that got away that prevented Terry from ever truly loving her like she deserved and compelled her to break it off–
“My one that got away married you.”
