They Mad!!! | White2Tea | Raw Puerh
Tumblr media
I am very silly, and bought this mini because the reference on the wrapper made me laugh. I love Documentary Now. Maybe I’ll ramble about it over on instagram later, but for now I will talk about the tea itself. The description of this tea that W2T gives is interesting; they note the tea is made of some older material they were waiting to press. Once again, we are all left to ponder what this material exactly “is”, which W2T always leaves a mystery. Aroma hit me as punchy, at first. I was worried about the bitterness as the aroma seemed young and green. But, it also smells sweet, sugary, and fruity. It smells a lot like Yiwu, but I’m uncertain as W2T is a strange mysterious wizard with its sources. Liquor is gold, crisp, soft. Cloudier and thicker than some young sheng I’ve had recently. This tea is a treat for sweeter young puerh drinkers. It’s quite a special tea. Notes of jasmine, wood, and fresh fruit. Leaning a tad on the floral side rather than the fruity. Give this mini a try if it sounds good for you. Maybe snag a cake if you’re feeling ballsy. It’s a good one.

Got some new teaware! A classic gaiwan from Mud and Leaves, and a teacup from White2Tea. The gaiwan pours like a dream. I never really thought much of how smoothly a gaiwan pours until I used this one, and the difference between this and my Mei Leaf gaiwan is pretty stark. Tea is a half and half mixture of traditional and smoked lapsang, both from White2Tea, and will get a journal spread eventually.

Having some Amalgamation of Capital for Day 4 of Teamas. This shou Puerh was specially made for the January 2021 Tea Club via White2Tea and packed into a bamboo shoot.
I tried it when I first got it and then promptly forgot about it as it got buried in my tea cart.
I think the bamboo taste is even more pronounced as it's been untouched for almost 3 years. To me, I get a dense, woody taste, and I'm ok with that 😁

Tasting: 2022 “Snoozefest” Raw Puerh - First Tasting Of The Year!
Tumblr media
After several years of missing out I finally got my hands on a cake of White2Tea’s yearly limited Raw Puerh release called “Snoozefest”. This cake comes out once a year at limited quantities. According their website, the cake is made from material that would usually sell for a much higher price tag, but is sold at a steal as a kind of “thank you” or “customer appreciation”. Basically a really good tea, that normally has a very high price, for a limited time low price. There is no samples offered of this cake and at a price of $15 for a 200g cake, it doesn’t stay available for long.
Every single year I have somehow managed to miss it. But in 2022 I was at the right place at the right time. I was one of the first people to order a cake of Snoozefest. How do I know? Because the first 30 orders also would get a free White2Tea winter beanie, which I now wear every time I got out. LOL.
Tumblr media
From the moment you unwrap this cake it’s crystal clear this cake is not joking around. It is no doubt high quality. The sweet aroma of the tea before it even hits the gaiwan is outstanding.
In the warm gaiwan the aroma this cake is incredibly sweet like honey and sugar cane. A plethora of sweet stone fruits hits you right up front. The dry leave aroma is very clean and fresh, much like a spring morning breeze. Welcoming, comforting and energizing yet calm. The wet leaf is a fruit explosion of poached peaches in sugary syrup, juicy plums and nectarines. In the background there is a noticeable sweet musk acting as a wonderful accent to the fresh fruity breeze in the gaiwan.
The soup is syrupy thick and smooth as hell. No bitterness or astringency! The mouthfeel is lubricating, clean and soft. Imagine if you will - a piece of fresh cut teak wood. Atop this teak wooden is a gathering of ripe and juicy stone fruits, plump and sweet. And around these fruits are little accents of delicate flowers. That is the only way I can describe the taste of this amazing beauty. As the infusions go the musk of the teak wood becomes more forthcoming, acting in harmony with the sweet syrupy juicy fruit notes.
And you best believe this teas can go the distance. I easily get at least 12 infusions out of this tea and it doesn’t miss a step. After so many years of waiting for this tea, this was no doubt the best possible way I could have asked to start of the tea journey of 2023.
Now because I am a nice guy and have decided that this is the year of giving, I am willing to part with 2 – 25g samples of this cake. Normally I would give more but I’ve already drank quite a bit and it’s gotta last me till at least November or longer if I miss out again this year. LOL. But if I do get lucky again this year, I’m buying my first ever Tong of teas.
If your interested in trying this precious beauty to see if you too need to line up to grab your own this year, send me a private message with you address and I’ll send it out to you!
I promise you, trying this tea may very well be one of the best things you do this year!

2022 Lich Tears - Shou Puer from White2Tea
2022 Lich Tears – Shou Puer from White2Tea
Like getting grapefruit rind stuck in the back of your throat— in a good way This is elation. Like those first moments when I pedaled away from my parents. Training wheels discarded. Balanced obtained. Five-year-old-freedom. I’m barely conscious. It’s not my fault. I blame an ornery commitment to scratch cooking. The stuffing recipe alone takes just under three hours. The bread must be torn –…

I just purchased some tea from White2Tea as well as a set of cups off of Amazon.
If all goes well when it gets here, I will report my experience!
The website itself is fascinating - anyone who's used it only has good things to say, based on the reviews on Reddit and a handful of forums. Rather than describe the mountain or region that the tea grew in, they just describe the tea itself, which is a controversial choice as it's less educational about the tea. But, the counterpoint is - IS IT less educational? Unscrupulous in-between vendors looking to sell product with inauthentic tags can simply lie thanks to the enormous gap between the tea farmer and the final seller, and then you've gained zero information, you just don't know it. An overly flowery description also makes it easier to sell well-meaning buyers things at higher prices, citing the difficult journey to get the tea pucks, or the effort of drying the mandarin skin, which ARE a lot of work but are also industry standards. The customer feels bamboozled later when they learn more.
Anyway people seem to like them. Just wish they had some tea with actual jasmine in it, but the collection is deliberately curated and I guess the founder isn't a big fan of the more gimmicky teas outside of the traditional add-ons.

2021 Chapo | White2Tea | Heicha
Tumblr media
This tea is a bit different from my current drinking habits. The hay aroma and flavor is at the forefront of this one with a hint of smoke. Like you’re visiting an old barn full of golden bales of hay. A distant campfire elsewhere at the farm adds a touch of smoke. A very familiar and intriguing tea. Cozy and comforting with good caffeine and qi. I was expecting this one to be darker! But it’s light like a sheng. I’m almost left wishing it was a bit smokier. The price on this one is great for those looking for this flavor profile.

- Spring Peach Oolong -
from white2tea
Tumblr media
Another white2tea one that I liked enough to order another pack of! It should come as no surprise to anyone that I am a sucker for oolong tea. This one hit a lot of my favorite notes: bright fruit, a little spice, and a lingering warmth that I could feel in my chest (one of my favorite tea sensations!) It also got me energized in a way many teas don't, considering I drink tea primarily to relax. I visited my family this weekend and got to sip a cup western style while sitting on a front porch swing, watching the sun rise over the treeline and listening to birds sing. My dad also keeps an old radio plugged up that was playing old timey gospel music. It was a whole mood, y'all.
3.5 stars.

I get weekly emails from my favorite romance author, Courtney Milan, and every week she gives a review of a different kind of tea.
This week is no different, so I went to the vendor she bought the tea from to maybe get some for myself and I saw this and can't decide what to think
