There's nothing like petting Scratch to make me face the fact that my paladin has unwashed-ass yellow teeth. Apparently, he has a blue tongue like a skink but his gums are pink.
Tumblr media
Also, interesting teeth pattern, and I wonder if it's the same in the other dragonborn head models. He has two bigger fang-like pairs of teeth in the lower jaw and nothing of corresponding size in the upper jaw. This would explain a slight underbite he seems to have that becomes visible from certain angles.

Lay on hands
Xeddrinth as a faux-illumination!
(originally I planned to draw him as a Rosymorn-monastery style stained glass, but somehow I gravitated towards the medieval miniature style again.)

Volo's eye is extremely useful, but I ended up not using it in Xeddrinth's playthrough. In most dialogues only his right eye is visible (due to his nose obscuring the other eye) and I like his original eye color more.
Nonetheless, it was interesting to test the possibility. I wondered if Volo's eye on dragonborns will have a round pupil or a slit pupil and it turns out it's the latter!
(Unfortunately I noticed he looks a little like a car with one headlight broken and I can't unsee it XD)

The thing I love about this game is that there's clearly been a lot of thought put into the camera angles, and how they're used to tell the story. It usually is not obvious, but in this interaction with Thisobald, the camera work and scene's composition does such an immense work.
First, there's the size disparity. Xeddrinth is one hunk of a dragonborn, and he's clearly dwarfed by Thisobald. It illustrates the threat clearly. The second thing is the lighting - eerie light at the side of Tav and shadow on the sound of the twisted brewer. Then there are poses and expressions - I like the way the character sort-of plays along the Thisobald's game, pretending to be a weary adventurer sitting down to a friendly chat with the bartender.
I think that the way the Thorms are dealt with is narratively very interesting and the way you can resolve all the fights without actually fighting is extremely tabletop in its execution. In a way you're putting these tortured souls to rest - in a less or more merciful way. Thisobald's solution feels like a part of a traditional fairy tale, where a hero outsmarts the monster and makes its own faults doom it - similar to Malus, where it's especially bloody and cruel.
Gerringothe gets more of a medium treatment - she has to be persuaded that she was at fault, and she stops haunting the town.
But while in case of Gerringothe what's visible in Tav's body language is equal parts disgust and morbid curiosity, in case of Thisobald it's wariness - but also there's a little bit of sympathy visible in Tav's actions. They play a game that leads to Thisobald's demise, they use his knowledge to their advantage, but also we give him a glimpse of his life when he wasn't a monster yet.
It's clear none of the Thorms were good people - all of them became corrupt one way or another, but their forms are hardly a sort of penance - they continue to do harm and need to be put down. It's perhaps telling that in all three cases they actually end themselves, just as Ketheric is a self-made villain that in the end gets consumed by what he's chosen to represent.

As befits a paladin, Xeddrinth looks really good in plate armor. I considered (and still consider) this plate armor model to be way too ornate for my taste, almost like a ceremonial armor, but he's able to pull it off. Thanks for providing us with plates at a very discounted rate, Ketheric's cultists!

I made Xeddrinth's guardian a dwarven lady, partially because I like their models, partially for giggles, and I have to applaud the fact that despite an awfully big height difference the camera in the dream visitor scenes isn't even awkward.
However, it looks pretty funny when she urges him to take her hand, being seen from a very low perspective and the next frame is this:

He'd be almost level with her even if he was sitting!
