#im watching a video about wario land music -> 'the bizarre music and sound design of wario land 4' by geno7 #good video so far! i like this guys stuff. he talked a bit about how they did some of the sound effects for warios voice #a very like. chopped and remixed sample style of doing his vocal lines. which is very cool 1) because it saves a bit of #precious space on that gba cartridge BUT ALSO 2) it just sounds cool and interesting stylistically #and man sometimes trying to keep a file size down really does give way for some really interesting stuff #on my own personal interests in games i ADORE rpg makers rtp and how people can find creative uses for it #i love that a bunch of games can draw from the same asset pool as one install on ur computer #no bloating your hardrive with a bunch of copies of the same assets - its just already here! #and from a developers perspective i love when they reuse old assets from other games in new weird ways #some small visual novel companies will reuse backgrounds and other assets #altho i dont mind a bit of bloat with VNs since a big draw can be the big pretty images and big pretty sounds #but its still cool when people find ways to get creative with space saving. and from a players perspective its also nice #space is cheap nowadays. but its not Free. we can swallow terabytes whole with micro sds and everything #but a lot of players dont get the chance or ability to upgrade their internal memory that often. so i think being considerate of filesize i #very important. and thats not even getting into the download bandwidth limits - a lot of people all across north america can only get like #internet from 1 provider and that 1 provider often likes to upcharge and limit shit because they can #we might live in a future where a lot of powerful technology exists. but access to that tech is another story #so remember the filesize. remember the filesize. #dies in your arms

Okay, I got back from Everything Everywhere All At Once, I have some thoughts:

1. I demand more movies about figuring things out as an adult please. I am only in my mid 20s and I've already reached my lifetime "children have to save the world" movie quota, and I can only imagine it gets worse from this point forward.

I need to know that I can continue to change, that there will still be opportunities as I get older. Michelle Yeoh can, and should, play every upcoming role designed for whichever is the current <20 year old heartthrob.

2. Holy Shit this was a difficult movie for someone who has a rough relationship with their mother, especially when they fought yesterday...I know she would hate this movie, and that she wouldn't want to understand it either.

3. How do I find a person who is just happy doing laundry and taxes with me 😭💔 asking for a friend because I'm lonely

i’m not exactly the person to complain about this but man it would be nice if accessibility standards were totally normalized. like yeah i can see and hear just fine but what if i prefer to read a video transcript because of adhd or not wanting to turn up the volume on my phone for whatever reason. i scroll past videos i would’ve liked to watch sooooo often cause there’s no transcript.

obviously it’s more important to normalize accessibility standards because they’re absolutely necessary for making things accessible to the people they’re designed for. they’re just also rad as hell & i wish everyone appreciated them as much as I do cause maybe then people would start noticing how inaccessible a lot of stuff currently is

Geopolitics app is starting to come along pretty nicely - working on standardizing the interface of each widget & preparing it so you can easily customize where the data comes from & what widgets are shown...so like a customizable (& resizeable/rearrangeable) dashboard for whatever specific purpose you want

#im thinking like blenders node interface #or nuke/natron if u happen to b more familiar w those #take data apply a series of transforms and then output them to a specific widget once the transformed shape is right #each transformation is just another node that takes an input & provides an output #might also include a full network tree editor to be able to dynamically specify a given dashboard config #but getting it working hard coded first is the first step before that #this project has rly turned into like 5-6 projects lol....aint that how it always turns out tho #& a lot of these basically up to the dashboard creation i can reuse for a lot of different projects #so rly just building a nice foundation #the geopolitics app essentially turns into dashboard app + wikidata app i think #trying to make the dashboard specification plugin-oriented from the beginning so i can add on for more niche projects #without breaking other ones #also already using the network graph widget for a cooking related project #visualize the steps & processes in a recipe #then i can combine it w my ingredient storage/etc app for a cooking dasboard

having sat down and played a couple hours of sable in earnest: I am both surprised and enchanted by what a good puzzle game it is. when I saw "lovely artistic indie game that cites ghibli and breath of the wild as inspirations," I was expecting something similar to spiritfarer, or stray, or abzû and journey: calming and rewarding of exploration, whose ‘puzzles’ are more in getting physically to the solutions than they are in figuring out what the solutions actually are. the first ship I explored, which gave me a climbers’ badge, did nothing to dissuade that, but the second took me a solid and very rewarding forty minutes of "wait, I have to move that first so that this doesn't just slide off the platform...." that I enjoyed immensely.

—which turned into less of a liveblog post and more of an entire review, whoops! in any case, it's a charming game that I'm glad I had the whim to try, the titular sable has a lot of personality and the platforming puzzles are just difficult enough to be rewarding without being overly frustrating (I'm looking at you, exile)

Finished bocchi all in one day👍very very good would highly recommend it for anyone who has seen clips/screenshots/etc but hasn’t watched the anime in full yet. It’s such a delight… such a fun time from start to finish and can easily be watched in a day. Very very funny with a lot of heart it’s so fun to cheer on bocchi…. I want her to be happy 🥹 loved how expressive the animation was

I’m a bass enjoyer. i loved bocchis guitar as well #the bit at the end where she uses the glass as a slide… aaaaaITS SO GOOD #I liked the drums a lot as well. not much to say about them but the drums were very nice #very very very funny show very charming lots of delightful music. i enjoyed it a lot :^)

okay... but youre not allowed to make fun of me... its called "50 tea recipes from the duchess." korean woman gets fired, gets isekai'd into the body of a duchess who is timid to the point of patheticness and everybody fuckin hates her. is like uggghh well i dont care if im hated as long as i have my special interest: TEA. and with her autistic girl swag (label pending) she makes both the society and her cold intimidating husband love her. 70% of it is her infodumping about tea to the delight of everyone around her.
