FLASH REPORT THIS MORNING: A Lone Bettor in California wins a record breaking Powerball Billionaire Jackpot of U$D2.040B (PHP119B) [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
ALTADENA, CALIFORNIA -- The final record-breaking Powerball billionaire jackpot prize in the United States of America (U.S.A.) ends here in a local suburb of Altadena after he or she was recently bought a ticket, just before the store opens at 6am (November 8th, 2022 -- Pacific local time). A store owner reportedly sold a ticket at the Joe's Service Center in West Woodbury Road, the said suburb and a state of California.
Tumblr media
This was just made history as the state lottery's first-ever billionaire after matching all 5 white numbers plus the red Powerball. Before that, there were a technical difficulties last Monday night (November 7th, 2022) due to one of the state's inability to deal with the huge amount of ticket sales data. Minnesota Lottery is the only culprit to delay the drawing for a single night and was slightly rigged for several hours per sales verification system to ruin the integrity of it as WCCO-TV's CBS 4: Minnesota reported.
Powerball officially rescheduled the next morning on Tuesday at 9:01am (Eastern local time) at a flagship lottery studios in Tallahassee, Florida, U.S.A. where the drawing takes place as pre-recorded in the early morning according to USA Mega. The final winning numbers are: 10-33-41-47-56 and the Powerball number is [10], while the Power Play multiplier concludes to 2x. An estimated jackpot prize as final to U$D2.040B (PHP119B).
KTTV-TV's FOX 11: Los Angeles was first reported and exclusively confirmed before lunchtime as the lottery officials in California receives an instant selling bonus of U$D1M (PHP58.330M) for selling the said winning ticket, leaving his or her lone bettor in California will soon come forward since the West Coast does not really allow to have it remain anonymous to claim the jackpot prize whether the lump sum of U$D997.6M after taxes (PHP58.2B) or annuity payments in full for 3 decades worth U$D68M (PHP3.966B) without any more explanation or questions asked.
Tumblr media
Altadena store owner name Joseph Chahayed, who was owned and operated to Joe's Service Center for the past 20 years with a press release statement, "I would like to thank all the community (who) support me. I encourage you to buy a ticket from this station... You're going to be a winner too. I will share it with the family, with my kids, my grandchildren, I have 11 grandchildren, and I have to share with them". His original hometown formerly originated from Syria in the 1980s to seek a better life.
Tumblr media
Joseph and his family worked hard to open and manage their own store as an immigrant themselves per KTLA-TV 5 reported.
Here in our country and some parts of the world with consolation prizes at 'theLotter', 2 Filipino individuals have hit the 3 or 4 numbers including Power Play multiplier. The following countries and prizes are: *Mexico, Brazil, Dominican Republic and the Philippines (1 simultaneous winners worth U$D100 [PHP5,833.00]) *India (1 solo winner worth U$D168.09 [PHP9,804.70]) *Brazil (1 solo winner worth U$D200 [PHP11,666.00]) *Oman (1 solo winner worth U$D207.88 [PHP12,125.64]) and *Philippines (1 solo individual winner worth U$D263.86 [PHP15,522.90])
The billionaire jackpot was the largest ever for Powerball and the largest in American lottery history. The overall odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are just 1 in 292.2 million. The ticket will now valid within a year or as later forfeited by early next Christmas in 2023.
The local win marks the first time the California Lottery has doled out a jackpot topping the said selling bonus amount to a single suburb winner.

Halloween Favorites
I’m not into horror—like, at all—so my Halloween viewing trends toward the sweet and sentimental, rather than the spooky. So, if you’re looking for something to enjoy with the kids while sneakily stealing their Halloween candy, here are my not-so-scary, on-theme All Hallow’s Eve appropriate favorites…
Updated: October 22, 2023
Tumblr media
Animated Specials
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966, CBS) - I honestly think this is the best of the Peanuts holiday specials. Linus’ pining in the pumpkin patch never fails to bring a smile to my face, and a tear to my eye. On a holiday that’s mostly about scares, this really brings the sentiment.
Garfield's Halloween Adventure (1986, CBS) - A classic Garfield and Odie adventure.
Hoops and Yoyo’s Haunted Halloween (2012, Hallmark Channel) - Yes, Hallmark Channel used to make original animated specials and they were really good, too. Smart, funny and completely charming.
Toy Story of Terror (2013, ABC) - This was one of the Toy Story universe’s first forays out of Andy’s bedroom, and into Bonnie’s world.
Scariest Story Ever: A Mickey Mouse Halloween Spooktacular (2017, Disney Channel) - A great special with vintage-look animation and feel, plus lots of laughs.
Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949, Disney) - This one gave me nightmares in kindergarten, but it’s undeniably a classic.
Monster vs Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space (2009, NBC) - One of the best, non-Disney movie spin-off specials of recent years, this take the characters from the under-rated Dreamworks movie on a great holiday adventure.
The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special (2017, NBC) - Born of a silly SNL skit, this rhyming special is slight, but Tom Hanks’ energy makes it a fun ride.
Scared Shrekless (2010, NBC) - The Shrek holiday specials all work pretty well, and stand the test of time better than most, the kind of thing I expect my kids will someday be showing their own.
Room on the Broom (2012, BBC) - This beautifully animated special makes the beloved children’s book come to life.

Movies
theatrical release, unless noted
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) - Aardman’s bumbling duo go on a grand adventure and it’s every bit as charming and wonderful as you’d imagine.
E.T.: The Extraterrestrial (1982) - Probably the best-known Halloween movie of all time, E.T. and Elliot’s bond remains magical in what is potentially Steven Spielberg’s most heartbreaking movie (aside from Schindler’s List, obviously).
Ghostbusters (1984) - Classic, ‘80s ghost centered comedy that honestly does hold up. Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Dan Akroyd really did strike gold with this one, and name me a movie with a more memorable theme song. (I’ll wait.) Fun for (slightly older) kids and parents alike
Totally Killer (2023, Prime Video) - This super fun, Halloween-set story is Back to the Future meets Scream, and the who’s-the-killer search is more mystery than slasher (a few bloody crime scenes, but more humor than jump scares), and stars a charming Kiernan Shipka who returns to 1987 to save her mom’s friend group from a masked killer. This one’s rated R, so not small kid-friendly, but that rating is for some smoking (making fun of the ‘80s), a few sexual mentions (though zero actual sex), and the aforementioned blood, so easily teen appropriate.
Spontaneous (2020) - This genre-bending coming of age comedy is horror-light that even a scaredy cat like me can handle, and Halloween, as well as Christmas, is name-checked making it a perfect compromise watch for scary season. Rated R for language and lots and lots of fake blood, this is still something I’d feel very comfortable watching with teens and mature tweens.
Beetlejuice (1988) - Michael Keaton’s gonzo energy makes this an enduring classic and Catherine O’Hara is, as always, an absolute delight.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) - As Christmas celebrations creep ever earlier, this is the perfect Halloween-Christmas hybrid, with a ghoulish, but not too scary, twist.
Goosebumps (2015) - Fun, family-friendly adventure based on the classic kids’ book series with a great cast: Jack Black, Jillian Bell and Amy Ryan, not to mention a cameo from the actual author who plays, ironically, “Mr. Black”—with the actual Mr. Black playing Mr. Stine.
Haunted Mansion (2023) - This LaKeith Stanfield-led second attempt at a  movie based on the classic Disneyland ride didn’t fare well at the box office, but my family enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s gently scary, with more creepy moments than actual jump scares, evokes the ride in genuinely clever ways, and has an absolutely A+ cast, some of whom are surprises I won’t spoil and the movie concludes on actual Halloween, making it pretty perfect seasonal viewing.
Coco (2017) - The journey of a young musician through the land of the dead, helped along by his family, is a beautiful story that also works as a kid-friendly introduction to Day of the Dead traditions.
Halloweentown (1998, Disney Channel) - This Disney Channel original, which spawned a movie series, isn’t particularly creepy, and, while also not exactly a cinematic masterpieces, to say the least, is high on this list thanks to extremely fond memories of watching the entire series with my kids when they were small. So, yeah, a primarily sentimental pick.
October Kiss (2015, Hallmark Channel) - Ashley Williams lights up the screen in this Hallmark Halloween romance that turns their tried and true Christmas formula on another season. (Sooo many decorations!)
Ghostbusters (2016) - This female-led remake got a lot of hate from misogynists and little love at the box office, but it’s actually quite a bit of fun. Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones  have great chemistry, and Chris Hemsworth as their hilarious secretary steals the show. While not quite the revelation of the original, it’s miles better than the awful Afterlife reboot.
Hocus Pocus (1993) - This box office flop became a cult Halloween classic thanks mostly to Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najmy and Bette Midler’s trio of very memorable witches.
Frankenweenie (2012) - Tim Burton turns his odd eye to this beautifully rendered, and ultimately sad, story about a boy and his beloved dog that features an all-star voice cast including Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Landau, and Winona Ryder.
The Book of Life (2014) - This culturally specific Day of the Dead exploration predates Coco, and while not quite as perfect as Pixar's version. is still very much worth a watch.
The House with a Clock In Its Walls (2018) - Yet another Jack Black-led, kid-friendly, Halloween movie which is also pretty dang good.
Monster House (2006) - One of the more frightening animated kids movies, it’s well done, with some genuine creepiness, so probably not for the very little, but good Halloween fun without causing nightmares.
Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween (2018) - Not quite as fun as the first in this live-action series, but more specifically set on the holiday, and still fine family fun.
The Karate Kid (1984) - Who can forget the classic skeleton costume beat down in this epic 1980s movie?
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) - Many people think of the Harry Potter movies as stealth Christmas titles, due to their elaborately executed holiday scenes, but this is the only one in the series that specifically name checks Halloween. We’ve recently rewatched the entire run as a family, and they all really do hold up beautifully.
The Monster Squad (1987) - Not everything (to say the least) in this 1980s kid-centered monster fighter movie holds up, but it gets a big nostalgia boost from being something I watched a kid, and then with my own kids.
Poltergeist (1982) - OK, I know I said no horror movies, but I saw this PG-rated (there’s even a G-rated cut on iTunes) tale as a kid myself. It is scary, with a few jump scares and at least one gross-out moment (spoiler alert for the maggot steak), but it’s much more memorable for a little girl getting sucked into the TV, than any actual blood or gore. What I think of as a “starter horror” movie.
Twitches (2005, Disney Channel) - This Tia and Tamra Mowry-led series of “twin witch” movies (get it?) didn’t click with my kids as much as their fellow Disney Channel original Halloweentown, but they’re actually probably slightly better in that slick, while still being inexpensively made, DCOM original way.
Mr. Mom (1983) - One of the best family comedies of the 1980s, this totally holds up and its memorable mom-leaving scene on Halloween reflects pretty smartly on the short span we get with our kids, and the guilt we as parents feel for having to work through more of it than we’d like.

Bonus Picks
A few extra suggestions that are neither movies nor animated specials, starting with the original run of the Twilight Zone, which has lots of spooky episodes, without being terrifying or at all gory. If you can kids past the black and white of it all, they tend to dig them, just as I did as a kid, when it was in the late night, WGN rotation. Also, Disney+’s new Goosebumps series is surprisingly fun and clever, much better than it needed to be, and a great whole family watch.
And, of course, would be remiss not to mention The Simpson’s annual “Treehouse of Horror” offerings, the first 34 (!!!) of which Disney+ has conveniently bundled into one place within its “Halloween Collection.” Even as my kids outgrow traditional animated holiday specials (sob) they’re always happy to watch one or two of these as a family.
Lastly, Marvel’s surprisingly great, 2022 Disney+ one-off, Werewolf by Night, which features Gael García Bernal as a secret lycanthrope. Stand-alone, atmospheric, and creepy without being scary. Well worth a watch.
