From this day I am a proud owner of one my favorite U2 albums - Achtung Baby. I finally managed to buy it and add it to my (rather small) collection. (Said collection only consists of The Joshua Tree, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience.)

Next time I’d like to buy either The Unforgettable Fire or October.

This song is one of the most beautiful and painful songs ever written. I fall in love like a U2 song. That is the the truth.

You say you want
Diamonds on a ring of gold
You say you want
Your story to remain untold

But all the promises we make
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

You say you’ll give me
A highway with no one on it
Treasure just to look upon it
All the riches in the night

You say you’ll give me
Eyes in a moon of blindness
A river in a time of dryness
A harbor in the tempest

But all the promises we make
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

You say you want
Your love to work out right
To last with me through the night

You say you want
Diamonds on a ring of gold
Your story to remain untold
Your love not to grow cold

All the promises we break
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

You all I want is
You all I want is
You all I want is

“ Like a song I have to sing
I sing it for you
Like the words I have to bring
I bring them for you
And in leather, lace and chains
We stake our claim
Revolution once again

No I won’t, I won’t wear it on my sleeve
I can see through this expression
And you know I don’t believe
I’m too wrong to be told ‘exactly who are you’
Tonight, tomorrow’s too late

And we love to wear a badge, a uniform
And we love to fly a flag
But I won’t let others live in hell
As we divide against each other
And we fight amongst ourselves
Too set in our ways to try to rearrange
Too right to be wrong, in this rebel song

Let the bells ring out
Let the bells wring out
Is there nothing left
Is there, is there nothing left
Is honesty what you want

A generation without name
Ripped and torn
Nothing to lose, nothing to gain
Nothing at all
And if you can’t help yourself
Well, take a look around you
When others need your time
You say it’s time to go
It’s your time

Angry words won’t stop the fight
Two wrongs won’t make it right
A new heart is what I need
Oh God, make it bleed
Is there nothing left”

So forever ago I did this silly mad libs thing for a dating profile and recently found the text doc on my computer…if anyone can find the original website ping me.  I tried searching “a dating profile for Dr Love” but it just gave me a bunch of dating websites for doctors.

Anyway, here’s the strange but kinda-mostly-accurate result:

A dating profile for Dr Love

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thy face art more Bono-shaped than the darling buds of May

A wise wizard once said, ‘Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.’ With that in mind…

Good dawning to thee, friend,

I’m an awesome lady, who likes nothing more than inter-dimensional time travel with the right man.

The first thing people usually notice about me is my ridiculous personality, closly followed by my smashing face. I hope you will find my face to be as special as new born kittens, and my butt as awesome as the first moon landing.

I work as a creator and soothsayer, helping everyone. This allows me to exercise my skills: empathy and imagination. My idol is Adam Clayton. When I’m struggling with my job, I think of Adam Clayton and feel inspired to continue. I once saw Adam Clayton at a petrol station, so I feel we have a deep connection - almost spiritual, like the mist on an autumn day, or similar.

  • My life goals include:
  • Recieve a telegram from an owl
  • Write a sonnet that captures your beauty
  • Become the best creator and soothsayer I can be
  • Help all the everyone in the world

If you’re the right man for me, you’ll be loving and hilarious. You won’t be afraid to be themselves and will have a healthy respect for truth.

My ideal date would involve listening to music in Where The Streets Have No Name with a beautiful man by my side. While we’re there, I write poetry about your Bono-shaped face under the light of the moon.

The right woman’s smile will light up my day like somebody igniting a sparkler on a particularly stormy November 5th. Your Bono-shaped face will make me tremble like sitting on a park bench when a double decker bus rattles by.

And I’ll leave you with a quote from the one-and-only Harry Potter: “It seems as though I always knew I’d have to face him in the end.”

Until younder

Dr Love

Another WIP of mine. Larry Mullen Jr. & Bono of U2. I actually want to draw the whole band, so… Adam Clayton and The Edge coming soon!

(I hope everything works out the way I want it to, and that it will actually look good 🤞🏻)

“ I shouldn’t be here ‘cause I should be dead
I can see the lights in front of me
I believe my best days are ahead
I can see the lights in front of me
Oh Jesus if I’m still your friend
What the hell
What the hell you got for me
I gotta get out from under my bed
I can see again the lights in front of me
Hey I’ve been waiting to get home a long time

Hey now, do you know my name
Hey now, where I’m going
If I can’t get an answer
In your eyes I see it
The lights of home “

-U2, “Lights of Home”

The songs by popular musicians for the soundtracks seem like a domain of the 80’s, though I would claim the form got perfected during the 90’s. Moreover, there were many blockbuster remakes for the successful properties back then, including Mission: Impossible, which meant a lot of sonic updates of the famous themes. Since we mentioned Mission: Impossible, we should check Adam Clayton & Larry Mullen Jr.’s version of the known intro that was only present in the first one of the Tom Cruise series. Sadly, I might add, but I understand why, i.e. the piece is so 90’s I can practically see Clayton and Mullen having a side gig as a part of a double bill with The Crystal Method. However, I think they did a great job with the tune and I wish the duo would have done more stuff on their own.
