The Force India story continues here (briefly), as the team entered the 2009 Italian GP brimming with confidence following their unlikely success at Spa-Francorchamps. - Monza is a circuit with similar characteristics to Spa, so hopes were high for another strong result for Force India. - In the run-up to the race, following his heroics in Belgium, Giancarlo Fisichella was poached by Ferrari as a replacement for the below-par Luca Badoer. - Force India went with their reserve driver, Tonio Liuzzi, in place of Fisi. - Encouraging signs came on Friday, as Sutil topped FP2. He repeated that achievement in FP3, before qualifying in an absolutely superb 2nd place, with only Hamilton in front of him. Liuzzi lined up in 7th for his F1 return. - In the race, things looked promising for Liuzzi until Lap 22, when a driveshaft failure forced him into retirement. Autosport claimed that Liuzzi was set for "at worst 7th, at best 3rd" when the failure occurred. - Sutil, on the other hand, had a far more successful afternoon. Lewis Hamilton (Mclaren) conquistó la sua seconda vittoria stagionale precedendo sul traguardo Robert Kubica (BMW Sauber) e Felipe Massa (Ferrari). Il pilota brasiliano, partito in pole, vanificó le sue possibilità di vittoria aspettando troppi giri prima di montare le gomme d'asciutto su una pista che andava progressivamente asciugandosi, dovendo dunque accontentarsi del terzo gradino del podio. Gara da dimenticare per Kimi Raikkonen, prima penalizzato con un drive through poiché al segnale dei 3 minuti al via la sua vettura non aveva ancora le ruote montate correttamente, e poi innescando nel finale un incidente con la Force India di Adrian Sutil ritardando troppo la frenata all'uscita del tunnel. Having steadily improved throughout 2009, the weekend that cemented Force India's turnaround from backmarkers to a points-scoring team, and a sometime threat to the frontrunners, came at the Belgian GP. - The car looked rapid in practice, with the power-based nature of Spa-Francorchamps and its long straights playing to the strengths of the Force India, which was low on downforce compared to its competitors. - They flashed a warning in Q1, as Fisichella shockingly went fastest and Sutil took 4th. In Q2, Fisichella took 4th whilst Sutil just missed out on making it to Q3, taking 11th place on the grid. - Then Q3 arrived. To the amazement of everybody, Fisi kept up his form and put in a fantastic lap to take a stunning pole position, nearly a tenth of a second up on the 2nd-placed man, Jarno Trulli. - Fisichella got a clean start to the race and led away well, but further back chaos was about to ensue. An accident on Les Combes, on Lap 1, took out Button, Hamilton, Alguersuari and Grosjean, with the Safety Car coming out as a result. - When the SC came in, on Lap 5, Fisi still led but had Raikkonen just behind. With KERS aiding the Ferrari, Fisi was a sitting duck as they bombed down Kemmel Straight and Kimi took the lead. - At this stage, everybody expected the Force India to drop back and that Raikkonen would pull away. But no, Fisi stayed on him. If anything, the Italian driver looked faster, but KERS was keeping Raikkonen ahead. - The entire race, Fisi followed Kimi round with often under a second separating them, clearly possessing the pace to win but being unable to make a move. Raikkonen crossed the line, at the end of the race, less than a second ahead of Fisi. - Fisichella may have missed out on victory, but nobody cared. Гоночный коллектив из Хинвила стал пятым участником Ф-1, который опубликовал фотографии своего нового автомобиля. Есть мнение, что в конюшне герра Петера в этом году сделали самый красивый болид, соответствующий регламенту 2014 года и теперь уже С33 будет объектом эстетической зависти фанатов других команд. В остальном на автомобиле, как обычно, крайне мало спонсорских наклеек, раскраска, выполненная в серых тонах, практически не изменилась, а силовые установки по-прежнему поставляются из Маранелло. Улучшать позиции Зубров на этой красотке в чемпионате будут Адриан#99 и Эстебан#21.
