Nominee Spotlight: Cure Fang

Cure Fang from Trick or Treat? Pretty Cure! is nominated for Cutest Design for a Cure at the 2022 Fancuries. Here’s what the creator @aemulatorizrafel​ has to say:

First of all, thank you to whoever nominated my fancure I’m honored! I made Carmella a.k.a. Cure Fang for fun on Halloween last year because, not only do I love the holiday, I thought Halloween- themed magical girls would be cute. She was the first one I designed out of the team and probably one of my favorites out of the four. I knew right away I wanted Fang to have a red outfit to suit her vampire motif. Since she’s the leader and there isn’t actually a pink Cure on the team I added in some pink accents to make it more obvious she’s the lead (or maybe it’s not obvious aha). For Fang’s hair I also knew right away I wanted her to have crazy curly drills (I love magical girls with drill hair so that is another reason). The pointy pink buns I wanted to represent big bat ears but because they’re pink they ended up being very reminiscent of Sailor Chibi Moon but I don’t hate that~ Other than that Carmella is a spunky gal who loves cherry flavored candy and advocating for the conservation of bats and how important they are in nature.

Aemulator [aye-mew-lay-tore] Latin meaning in the sense of a jealous rival/competitor

Izrafel [is-rah-fell] just another way to spell Israfil, the name of the angel that blows the trumpet to signify judgement day is coming

my pronunciations could be a little off since I'm not an expert or anything but you can just call me Izra if you like? It's what most people do~

TITLE: aemulatorizrafel’s wishlist

WISHES: I’m fine with Art, Comics, Music, and Poetry! 

Some of my favorite characters are (my absolute fav being first): Alice, Medicine Melancholy, Koishi, Yuyuko, Sariel, Doremy, and Toyosatomimi no Miko! 

My favorite ships are (my absolute fav being first): Marisa x Alice, Doremy x Sagume, Keiki x Chimata, and Yuugi x Parsee! 

My favorite themes are Last Remote and Ultimate Truth but remixes of any of my favorite character’s themes are fine too!

I don’t care how you dress up the characters or have them interact with each other but I prefer soft and fluffy~

PET PEEVES: I picture Sariel as gender ambiguous so if you draw them I would prefer them not be super curvy. 

It’s not a peeve but I do have a slight reading disability so if you choose to write something/make a comic it would be nice to have the font be disability friendly i.e. font size a little larger or bolder, Open-Dyslexic is a font very easy for me to read!

ABILITIES: Drawing, my style revolves around being cute, frilly, and sparkly! I’m willing to draw any character(s)~

WON’T DO: Ships that involve incest or age-gap. I’m also not very good at drawing furry

VOLUNTARY SANTA: I work retail so I probably will only have time to do one submission, unfortunately 

POST-SCRIPTUM: I’m fine with all art styles/skill levels and if you’re a little late that’s fine so don’t stress yourself out too much! This is also my first year joining since I’ve been too shy every other time; thank you for having me!

One of my favourite artists ( @aemulatorizrafel ) motivated me to get sparkly gel pens to use in my own traditional art and man, I feel like I'm barely scratching the surface of sparkly potential here! (Also I need to figure out the secrets of coloured pencils.)
