( Notice: OKAY - The pic there says ‘The Hobbit/LOTR’ but for times sake, and my own sanity, there is none listed thus-far (same goes for the ‘other’ category’). Merci for understanding! )
So I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and I already have a blog for it ( @nemosrepost ) but that doesn’t get too much attention. Thus, here we are!
(This was a nightmare to get done - it took weeks to get all the links and pics done up in my spare time - I hope you appreciate that.)
They’re all sorts here, from Medieval Marvel AU’S, to Modern Attack on Titan one shots. They’re all organised via fandom, and I’ve tried my best to link and tag everything properly, but that is a difficult feat, so beware - for some it may not have worked too well.
Like my *actual* masterlist, this will be updated regularly with new fic recs, and even new characters and fandoms as I read them. All fic’s currently listed (as of November 26, 2020) are found on my reblog account.
I’ve also tried to add in a ‘recommendation summary’ thing of each - so basically just my thoughts on the fic(s). But anyway, have fun browsing, and overall - enjoy!
(AND also - LMAOOOO - Have fun scrolling lololololol!) - Nemo
( Pre - Warning: I am not tagging anything as NSWF, 18+, or triggering content. However some fics listed do contain such material. Please refer to the warnings or Authors Notes on each Fic before reading. Stay safe guys! I love you! )
Bluebellhairpin’s Masterlist

Bucky Barnes
Knight in Rusty Armour - Medieval / A/B/O AU! Series - by @revengingbarnes Honestly I binged the first eight chapters (+ prologue) in close to one sitting. That was mostly because that was all that was published at the time. It is completed now. I love both these AU’s, and I love Bucky - win, win!
Flowers Bloom - Soulmate AU! Series - by revengingbarnes  Another great series, and honestly I’m a slut for soulmate au’s, so this author might be coming after my heart - keep up that good work, if you know what I mean.
The Great Build Up - Modern / Firefighter Au! One Shot - by @thottybarnes  This ones goes from cute, to hot and steamy, to angsty, and back to cute again. A one shot rollercoaster, and I thoroughly enjoyed every word of it.
Maybe This Time - Mob Au! One Shot - by @propertyofpoeandbucky Okay, so if there’s one thing I like more than an mobster au, it’s adding children into the mix. Something about big bad guys going all soft for this tiny human - and then making them - and that’s called perfection.
Whatever It Takes - Biker AU! One Shot - by @sgtjbuccky He like’s to be loud, so what. He rides a bike, so what. I what to ride him and his bike, so what.
(Un-Named) - One Shot - by @softlybarnes  I’ve never liked Bucky’s metal arm more in my entire life. Using it for a baby going through teething? A+ idea.
Hero, Waiting - Medieval AU! One Shot -  by captain-ariel-barnes Sadly, this fic is unavailable now, and that - obviously - makes me sad. But I’m adding it her anyway because of how much I adored it. The love triangle between Bucky, Reader, and Steve was amazing, and the feelings? Phenomenal.
Steve Rogers
If Walls Could Talk - One Shot - by propertyofpoeandbucky  I’ll recreate my original comment on this fic - ‘Ouch’. And that’s all I have to say about that.
The End of the War - College AU! One Shot - by @redgillan There’s nothing quite like a enemies to lovers trope that’s well-written. But then throw in fight club, a jerk date, ice-cream and pizza - just read it. You’ll understand then.
The Edge of the Water - Mermaid AU! Series - @floatingpetals I have to admit now, I haven’t read all of this yet. But I also have to say, what I have read was fantastic. Mermaids - and Mermen - they just hit different, you know?
Pseudo Princess - Medieval AU! Series - by @shreddedparchment To date, it’s one of the best fics - nay - stories I’ve ever read. I’d dare to say it’s easily the length of a novel, so if you’re up for the long haul, I’d definitely recommend it. It’s worth the wait - trust me. Op obviously put a hella lot of work into it, and it shows.
Loki Laufeyson
Loki’s Happy Ending - Series (?) - by @gingerwritess  Listen, I have been and forever will be a Loki girl. Nothing will change that. And every scrap of content Theo produces for Loki I will cradle in my palms and keep warm until they’re ready to go out into the world or whatever - point is, read this.
Just One Quick Glance - One Shot - by @imagines-trashcan  After watching ‘Endgame’, and squealing at every moment Loki appeared on screen, only to not have him show up in the final battle - this was one of my comfort fics.
thunderstorms. - One Shot - by @tarynkauai Naturally, Loki’s child would inherit his unease of thunderstorms. And naturally, seeing Loki as a dad makes me happy.
Stitches - One Shot - by @lokibug  Loki being nice. I like that. We stan.
Quentin Beck
The Curveball - One Shot - by @healingchurch  Listen, this is on here for a reason. I didn’t really like Mysterio ‘cause of what he did to Peter, but hey, some people are good actors, and some write characters acting very well.
Stephen Strange
(Un-Named) - Imagine / One Shot - by @archieimagines A cocky bastard and a shy Reader, as far as I’m concerned that a one-way ticket straight to my heart. *wink wonk*.
(Un-Named) - One Shot - by @whirlybirbs  Honestly, there are multiple fics of hers on this list, and that’s because she’s a damn fine writer, and her stories are just that addictive. This one is no different. I was preparing to read more and then it ended. But all good things, right?
Crash and Burn - One Shot - by @lilyswritings  The angst, and the angst. I cry, you cry, everyone cries. Unfortunately there is only the one part, but much to my personal joy that means I can interpret the after-ending however I want!
Frank Castle
(Un-Named) - One Shot - by @alexsunmners This is just cute okay? I have no other words except this was plain and simply very, very, very nice to read, and that it makes me feel very soft right here on the inside.
Peter Parker
Super Smooth Genius - One Shot (?) - by whirlybirbs  Back at it again with the cute, awkward, friendly, neighbourhood, Peter Parker.
Just Don’t - Soulmate AU! One Shot - by @papel-creativo What’d I tell you about soulmate au’s? I can’t resist them. And of course Pete being a caring bf with his hero s/o. So nice.
Ronan the Accuser
Make You Proud - One Shot - by @kayleighhalliday2203 This is justifiable because I was going through a Lee Pace faze and I found it and loved it immediately.
Ultron
(Un-Named) - One Shot / Series - by @snarky-badger This I can also justify having read, because (and if you know me then you know) the robot thing ... Doesn’t bother me as much as it should. And I binged all of it on ao3, so.
Tumblr media
Poe Dameron
(Un-Named) - Masterlist - by propertyofpoeandbucky Okay, I know there’s a lot on this list, and it could take you a while to get through it all, but trust me - it’s worth it. Lani likes Poe, and it shows. He’s written so well.
Dashing - One Shot / Series ? - by whirlybirbs Birbs does it again. She’s got Punchy!Reader, and if there were a legal way to get all of this Poe thing down into a written book, I’d do it.
You Can See Me? - Modern / Ghost AU! One Shot - by @tintinwrites I just this this one’s really cool. And what Poe does for the reader at the end? So sweet! He would totally do that!
Across the Hall - Modern / Nurse AU! Series - by @starryeyedstories  It’s cute, it’s fun, it’s got tension, and a little drama - plus a smidge of angst and Corgi!BB-8. If perfection were ever made into a Modern/Nurse au Poe fic - this would be it.
Deepest, Lightest Secrets - One Shot - by @writefightandflightclub  It’s got the humour and overall feel  you’d expect to come from something Star Wars related - honestly I had so much fun reading it, and I’ll happily do it again.
Tumblr media
Levi Ackerman
Names for Him & You - One Shot - by @commanderserwin Again, op is one of my main sources for fic’s in this area - so there could be quite a few of them listed here. But this one? Cute as heck.
Levi’s Secret - Modern AU! One Shot - by @theamberwriter This one was damn funny in my opinion. Nothing can ever be hidden from Hange for long.
You Look So Beautiful In White - Modern AU! One Shot - by @alrightberries This fic, it carved out my heart, diced it, shoved it in a blender, then made it into an atomic bomb. I - I was not okay. That amount of angst shouldn’t be allowed. Read it.
Abeille - Modern / Mafia AU! Series - by @ackermans-freedom-inc Honestly, this isn’t finished yet but, honestly, I’m not ready for it to finish. The heartache. The betrayal. The child. I can’t even.
Lights - Modern AU! One Shot - by commanderserwin This was the first fic I ever read of op’s, and I couldn’t believe what I read so I went back and read it again. I can’t tell you how much I love it, or how I feel about it, so just go read for yourself and you’ll know.
To Build a Home - Modern AU! Series - by @vennilavee If you’re a fan of Levi, you must go read this. It’s so detailed, and just so perfect - whenever a new part comes out I have a quick reboot before going to read it.
Erwin Smith
One of Us - Modern AU! Miniseries - by commanderserwin I’m not going to lie, this one is here because I requested it, but also because I really liked it, and cried while reading it. So there.
Reiner Braun
Service to the Crown - Medieval AU! Miniseries - by @present-mel It should probably be illegal to write Reiner or Medieval au’s this well, and yet here op is writing both. Like, McScuse me, where do you acquire such talent and can I have some?
Tumblr media
Toshinori Yagi
Flirting with All Might - One Shot - by @lemonlordleah-shinzawa-kitten Toshi. The great. The hero. The awkward. He’s a blond boy doing what blond boys do even if he’s a little older he’s still part of the crew.
Stitches - Villain AU / Mini Series - by @itsallmightbitch  Okay, so I said above that I wouldn’t put warnings on these - but this time I have to. Nothing I’ve read in my whole life emmits such an amount of pure horniness - and I love it.
Godless - Fantasy AU / One Shot - by @pleasantanathema  Another ‘All Smite’ fic, yes, I know. But god. They’re so good. This one is another real horny one, so if you can’t tell there is a slight theme running here. And - sksksksks - this is actually from the same ‘general area’ as the Reiner fic listed above (Service to the Crown). There was a event. I read everything.
Keigo Takami
Preening - One Shot - by @shoutaaizawas Literally the softest and cutest damned thing I’ve read for Keigo. No, I’m not just ‘saying’ that, it’s genuine. The feelings I get - or lack thereof due to them turning to mush - it too much for words. Honest.
Seasonal Special - One Shot - by @keiqos I’ll say this now and I’ll say it first - any Hawks fics written by op are *chefs kiss*. They’re amazing. Secondly, rut!Hawks is my weakness - this fic is one of such weaknesses.
Shouto Aizawa
(Un-Named) - Series - by @theamberwriter This is *technically* the second part in the series, but it’s the only part I’ve read and goddamnit, I’m in love. Hubby Aizawa. The disappearing Baby-Zawa.
Tumblr media
I Miss You Texts - SMAU - Kuroo Tetsurou, Bokuto Koutarou, Nishinoya Yuu - by @briswriting I miss them too. They ain’t dead. I just feel like I haven’t seen them in so long.
Little Things - Headcanons - Karasuno - by @haikyuudreaming Every single one makes me feel so nostalgic, and I feel so much longing. I love. I loose. I pine. I want. And yet I cannot have. I only dream.
Cheerleader - Headcanons - Karasuno - by @imagine-101  I want to be their cheerleader. Now I am able to be. Op, many thanks for the feeding.
Tsukishima Kei
Cherry Wine - Single Parent AU! Series - by @bakugou-jpg  I’m gonna head out and say that Tsukki was my first favourite Haikyuu character - then I ‘character developed’ but that only went so far as to give me more favorites. But deadass - read this and you won't regret it.
Ukai Keishin
(Un-Named) - Ballroom/Latin Dancer AU! Headcanons - by @imagine-that-haikyuu  I know nothing about dancing. Or ballroom dancing. But I do know I’d love to dance with Ukai. So how’s that for ‘middle ground’?

Fantasy World Hoshi
is hot!
Tumblr media
This ranking quest introduces a new series of tamashii set in a parallel world with a fantasy theme. Interestingly, the figurative and literal “hero in the spotlight” this time is Hoshi.
Spoiler warning: for both this ranking story and the Shoumetsu Toshi 0 main story.
Fantasy world Hoshi grew up not being particularly good at anything. But one day he wakes up with a legendary sword next to him: the sword has ‘chosen’ him and he is destined to be the Hero of Hope who must slay the Demon King in this world.
Takuya and Yuki encounter Hoshi when they get thrown into the fantasy parallel world for seemingly no reason. They figure if they defeat the Demon King they'll be able to go home. By the way, the Demon King is Airi. And Beo is here too.
Tumblr media
“I forgot if you were a child actor or a famous actress but either way, I’m looking forward to the show!”
In true fantasy world fashion, their journey also involves a two part sidequest, courtesy of Fantasy Yui and Mii.
Tumblr media
“Please defeat the evil Demon King’s henchman, the Alchemist, Port Ellen!”
Port Ellen, is doing horrible things to the cute forest animals and we must save them. He is actually making all of them macho by giving them muscles (steroid injection?). This is a pun on renkin, which usually means transmuting gold, but there’s a kanji for kin that means muscle.
Tumblr media
He’s not refining gold, he’s refining muscles!
The Hoshi in this world has also tragically fallen for Yuki. Her light fills his heart, she is his ‘star’. But just as stars shine in the sky out of reach, Hoshi knows they can’t be together. Once they defeat Airi, Yuki will leave. Hoshi sees his future as hopeless, how is someone like him supposed to be the “Hero of Hope”?
Seemingly to make him even more miserable, Yuina the travelling bard asks to sing him a song. The lyrics are full of the wishes and expectations of the people to the hero, a hero who is like a stranger to Hoshi.
Tumblr media
In a reflective monologue, Hoshi reveals he wanted to quit being the hero. When the people around him  found out he had been selected by the sword, they cheered and said now Hoshi who’s not good at anything finally has a purpose. But that label only became a burden to him.
Suddenly Airi appears. She is incredibly powerful and Hoshi asks Yuki to give up and runaway with him. Of course she doesn’t, triggering another internal reflection.
Hoshi remembers when they helped Yui and Mii. Yui had said that now that the legendary hero was finally standing in front of her, he suddenly felt more like an ordinary person. When Mii was thanking Hoshi she explicitly said she wanted to thank him, and not some nameless “hero”.
Tumblr media
“The person we want to thank is not just some ‘hero’. We want to thank ‘you’, who helped us, and is standing in front of us now.”
Hoshi realises that he really does want to become a star to the people like Yuki was to him (the irony being that Hoshi literally translates to star).
Tumblr media
I will become a star. I will become a hero. I will take down Demon King Airi as the “Hero” of this world.
We win the battle but Airi escapes. The townspeople come to thank their hero, but in a symbolically significant gesture, he asks them to call him “Hoshi”, not “hero”.
He must say goodbye to Yuki too.
Tumblr media
“I really don't want you to leave. I want us to go on more adventures together. But I know that’s not possible so I’ve decided to farewell you with a smile.‘
Hoshi’s final set of dialogue shows remarkable maturity and character development. He has not only resolved to live on in a world without Yuki, but also try to actively enjoy it. Without the burden of being a hero anymore, he wants to try seeing the world through Yuki’s eyes, and find the joy and wonder she found in his world. Meaning he has changed his viewpoint that without the title of hero, he is nothing.
But the story we see doesn’t end there. In a plot twist, it is revealed the one who bestowed the sword onto Hoshi was Beo himself (are these really plot twists anymore? The culprit’s always him these days). It seems tarot cards aren’t the only tools this God possesses to screw up people’s lives…
Tumblr media
“Wasn’t it you who gave him the ‘Sword of Hope’ in the first place?”
This ranking event was framed as a conventional hero’s adventure: it plays almost exactly how you would expect a generic fantasy RPG to, from the NPCs dressed like travellers/low level mages, to having a final boss fight after a couple of ‘main’ quests. Shoumetsu Toshi actually subverts the audience expectations of this popular formula, by giving us an unconventional hero whose pessimism contrasts with the sense of wonder and adventure a fantasy world would usually invoke.
However there is also another meta layer to this. When we observe a story, especially one in a fantasy setting, we are conscious that it is not real. There is a distance between us as an audience, and the characters and events happening in the story. Similarly, there is now also a prominent ‘observer’ in the parallel world. Beo is basically watching a ‘performance’. He makes this clear by explicitly making reference to Airi being an actor on a stage, and Airi also says herself: “playing the role of the Demon King was also pretty fun”. This is indeed a reference to the Airi in our world being a famous child actor, but it also emphasises that Beo sees the whole thing as something like a theatrical play. That is, messing with people’s lives even in parallel universes is a source of fun; the people in the world he created exist purely to entertain him.
Beo’s role in this ranking event, combined with the newfound knowledge we have about him (courtesy of Shoumetsu Toshi 0), add a new dimension to these parallel world stories.
Up to now, the pattern I’ve been seeing is that even in parallel worlds, a character’s fate is unchangeable. We now know there might be a reason for this (hint: his name starts with B).
Hoshi initially seems to follow this trend too. It is very easy to see the similarities between main story Hoshi and fantasy Hoshi. He’s got that defeatist attitude (”I’ll never find my happy ending”), he is drawn to Yuki, his symbol of hope, and he gets tossed around by fate against his will (Hoshi in world 1 became a human test subject purely because of who his parents were). But interestingly, this time with Yuki’s intervention, it seems Hoshi was able to have a proper happy ending.
I feel it is important to note here that having Takuya and Yuki interfere was never part of Beo’s intentions. Near the start of the quest he says to Airi: “Why are Takuya-kun and Yuki-chan in this world?” So, if Beo didn’t bring them here, who did? Does this mean there is a being stronger than Beo who has the ability to change fates?
Anyway this quest was super meta but it was also super enjoyable, with a good mix of humour, adventure, and despair. I’m not sure future fantasy world events will have as much depth as this one but I’m already invested in this new parallel world so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Spring 2019 Preview
How the hell is there another season already. I was hoping for a light load this time around, but it looks like the anime gods will not be so kind. Bonus feature this season is all the titles are links to the shows’ official websites so you can click and look at the cute girls I mention.
Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu: This is an adaptation of a Katsuwo manga, who is the guy who wrote the original for the brilliant Mitsuboshi Colors which ended up on my top ten of the year list last year. An all-female cast of adorable looking girls, a proven mangaka, and the usually-capable Hanada writing the scripts makes this one look like a pretty sure bet. Oh yeah it's also got a good looking deko blondenblu gaijin.
Joshikausei: I think this is a short, but all you need to really know about this show is the tagline on the website: おバカかわいい、この日常がたぶん青春. They got all my favorite words in there. Too bad it's a short, but I think it will be fifteen minutes at least.
Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san: This is one of those shows where you can probably guess exactly what it's going to be like from the title. It's cute kitsune wife (actual age: 800) and other girls in a rabukome animated by Douga Koubou... which is endorsement enough but it's also got Ayaneru as a meganekko joji anime otaku JD?? Hell yeah. The cast is actually fantastic: Waki Azumi, Mareitaso, Ayaneru and Kitaeri, and Suwabe Jun'ichi holds down the male protag fort so that should be good too. No reason to think this won't be great.
Kono Yo no Hate de Koi wo Utau Shoujo Yu-No: You wanna talk about some aesthetic, this is some aesthetic. It's an adaptation of the hugely influential PC-98 eroge of the same name, which was a work that in large part helped bring us the sort of complex science fiction and fantasy stories that would shape the golden age of that medium. With how much I've been lamenting the lack of 'that eroge aesthetic' in anime as of late, it should be obvious that I'm hype for this, and it's getting two cours from based feel. at that.
Fairy gone: Not gonna lie, I was kinda mad that this new P.A. Works original looks nothing like what they typically produce, but having seen the PV, it looks pretty good. Then I learned that the scripts are being written by the author of Grimgar, and I got hype. Fantasy plus WW2-ish shit is a good aesthetic (think Youjo Senki) and it's got the considerable might of a P.A. Works production behind it. The director of Suzuki Keiichi, who doesn't have a lot of credits but worked on the first season of the Jojo anime, which was great, so this one definitely seems like it could have all the ingredients to really pop off. The girls also look hot which is very important.
Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!?: With Hina-sensei of Domekano about to leave my life this show promises a much more concentrated injection of teacher moe into my veins... In fact it is all about lewd and cute senseis and they all look good. My only worry is that, as sometimes seems to happen with shows where the lewdness is put front and center, the animation doesn't really look like it's the best. I am grateful to this show for allowing Ishigami Shizuka to play a cute girl at least, even if she is still slightly typecast as the tomboy gym teacher.
Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai: One of two shows about being a dumbass this season; in this one, everyone is a dumbass. It definitely looks like a standard harem anime, and I always need at least one of those a season to keep myself alive. The girls all look fantastic, but I'm especially excited for the pink-haired teacher character and the purple-haired loli BBA. There's also a delicious brown genki girl, a meganekko who wears kuropansuto... Yeah it's got all the good good ingredients. Oh yeah, it's also being directed by the guy who directed the extremely good Last Period anime last year, so it's got that going for it too.
Kenja no Mago: It's isekai tensei anime, and yes, it literally starts with the protagonist getting hit by truck-kun... But the PV ended up really winning me over, and I'm cautiously looking forward to this one. The premise is recycled, but there's nothing new under the sun anyway. It looks like it's got a decent sense of humor about it and the heroines look cute as hell, but it also looks like it's got some major production values being pumped into it. This show could definitely be a pleasant surprise.
Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou ga Dekinai: One of two shows about being a dumbass this season. This one has some good-looking character art courtesy of Silver Link, and one of a couple major leading roles for up-and-coming seiyuu Waki Azumi. The main girl looks extremely adorable and is apparently a pervert so I got hopes for this one to be good.
Senryuu Girl: We actually traditional Japanese arts now (a senryuu is a kind of poem similar to a haiku) but more importantly, cute girls. Za-san takes the leading role but there's also Sumipe as a chuuni looking girl, Kuno-chan, and Paisen, among others. The direction doesn't inspire confidence (this guy was behind the shittier latter seasons of Prisma Illya) but it still looks like a cute rabukome.
One Punch Man 2nd season: How can there be a second season when he already punched last time? He's all outta punches! In all seriousness, One Punch Man was a surprisingly enjoyable romp the first time around, thanks in no small part to the spectacular (especially for TV) animation on display. There is concern over it having moved from Madhouse to J.C. Staff for this season, but if J.C. are being given enough money to rustle up the same level of talent as last time it should hopefully still be a spectacle.
Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki: Hougen marudashi no joshikousei! It's cute dialects anime!! That fishing anime had good dialects but it was actually a bad show; this looks like it will have a good dialect and be a good show. It should be cute if nothing else. The main heroine's thing is that she speaks Nagoya-ben, but given that the other heroines are listed as being from Gifu and Mie, maybe we will even get many dialects. Unfortunately, though, it's probably a short, since Creators in Pack are involved.
Nobunaga-sensei no Osanazuma: This is also a short (ten minutes) which is too bad because these girls look cute as heck. A show with a premise like this is really gonna depend on how likable the male protagonist is, though.
Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine: Toukyou no chuusuu wa marunouchi, hibiya kouen ryougiin... Wait, wrong anime. But yes, like the venerable Taisho Yakyuu Musume of old, girls are playing baseball in anime again. This one is set in the modern day, and I have no idea if it's a fictional setting where girls all play baseball or if they're gonna do the Taisho thing and try to take down the baseball boys because the website still has no plot section. The character designs look good as hell though, coming courtesy of Noguchi Takayuki, who also did designs for Tenshi no 3P! (they were like the only good thing about that anime) and Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya wo Mezasu (similar). Hopefully this show has more than just good girls to ogle.
Shoumetsu Toshi: Only thing I really know about this is Ayaneru is in it because I've seen her doing promo work for it. The key visual definitely doesn't do it any favors, nor does the fact that it's apparently based on a mobile game, but man some of these character designs look great. Ayaneru plays some kind of moe gumshoe detective, Mingosu is a sexy lab coat channee, actually there's multiple sexy lab coat channees... Really that's all you have to tell me, I'm fucking in there. The show will probably be crap.
Carole & Tuesday: This looks very pretentious and vaguely like they're fishing for overseas viewers (actually they definitely are because the website even defaults to English when I load the site, which offends my sensibilities), but the PV does make it looks fairly interesting. It's another music focused series from Watanabe Shinichiro, who also tried to steal the hearts of the west with Sakamichi no Apollon in 2012, which was terrible. It might be neat though I guess. It does seem to have a black girl as one of the protagonists which is cool.
Isekai Quartet: I have no idea who asked for this, but if it gives me the opportunity to hear more of Amamiya Sora as Aqua while I wait for a third season of Konosuba, it can't be all bad. I ain't never seen no Overlord though, so a quarter of this is gonna be lost on me.
Strike Witches 501 Butai Hasshin Shimasu!: The title is appropriate because this short is basically an appetizer for the coming next wave of Strike Witches content. It's a cute honobono comedy starring the Strike Witches girls, so it'll probably be good. Hopefully this can remove from my mouth some of the bad tastes Brave Witches left. It won't be until next year that we get the return of Takamura-kantoku and true Strike Witches anime, though.
Araiya-san! ~Ore to Aitsu ga Onnayu de!?~: What the hell is this? Do they really have these in Japan? It's about a dude who washes girls in the bath?? Whatever the fuck is going on here, the girls look cute and it definitely promises to be lewd, at least on ComicFesta's own streaming service. MX version will probably have nazo no hikari, so hopefully the uncensored one pops up somewhere I can watch it.
Choukadou Girl 1/6: It's definitely impossible to not think of Frame Arms Girl when looking at this series, which will probably end up being an unfair comparison. For one, it looks like we got a shitty ass male protagonist instead of a cute girl. I remember how Busou Shinki turned out... Not having high hopes for this one.
Fruits Basket: Honestly, there's no way I'd be watching this if it didnt have such a famous name on the tin. Two ikemen danshi on the key visual is too many! Fruits Basket is a legend of shoujo manga, though, and there should be a lot of resources going into this new, full adaptation of the series, so I feel vaguely obligated to check it out. People are mad about the new character designs but the girls look pretty good, especially that blonde delinquent looking girl.
Sarazanmai: Uh-oh. It's Ikuhara anime. My consternation with Ikuhara is well documented, and although I've never seen his opus of Utena, I find his works, though visually compelling, to be frustratingly obscurantist, or to put it another way, "trying too hard." Still, you gotta give the guy credit for being unique I guess, so I'll still end up watching at least an episode, whatever the fuck it turns out to be about. Unfortunately there seems to be a major lack of girls to hold my interest, not to mention none to be lesbians, so it might not last very long.
Kono Oto Tomare!: It's koto anime. You can have an anime about anything and this is one about people who play the koto. Lots of traditional Japanese arts this season for some reason. Unlike the senryuu anime though, this one only has ONE measly female character, and it doesn't even look like she's the protagonist, so I probably won't watch it. The koto is cool though.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: This show looks like a big deal just from the number of stations it's airing on and the fact that it's a rare TV anime from Ufotable... Unfortunately I have little interest in actually watching it. It's a Shounen Jump series, the art makes it look edgy, it uses the word "zetsubou" in the tagline and I already hate the Hanae Natsuki-voiced boy protagonist just after seeing his face in the key visual. There is a cute looking oni girl though.
Gonna put these down here since it feels weird to rank what are essentially ongoing shows:
Aikatsu Friends! ~Kagayaki no Jewel~: Friends is the Aikatsu series that finally really got its claws in me, so I'm chuffed that we're getting a second season, with some sexy looking space idols voiced by Hiyocchi and Oonishi at that. The fact that there will apparently be a time skip has me a little worried, but also, two years older Mio and Maika are gonna be good. I'm sure it will still be great.
Kiratto! PriChan 2nd season: Unlike Aikatsu, Prichan doesn't seem like it's getting any major changes going into its second year, but I hope they shake it up with some new idols or something. Prichan's definitely not on the level of its predecessor (though little is) and its formula is getting a little stale, so hopefully they take this as a chance to rejuvenate it. Oshamatrix full idols now goddamnit.

Chapter Seven: Hero Rank Doesn’t Translate to Teacher Rank
Tumblr media
Nedzu had arranged a joint lesson between you and All Might.
During the planning process you’d learned of his weakened form. It was startling.
To the media, they’d always pitted the two of you as rivals for the world’s greatest hero. They made it seem the two of you were always trying to one up each other and get an edge on one another.
In reality, however, you admired the man. He was your senior, and a man who could pass on so much wisdom and knowledge. You felt like his apprentice, despite the fact you’d never actually met and your quirks were far different.
To find out the man you’d always looked up to had his own weakness made you feel more comfortable, in a funny way. You had problems of your own, failures and worries. This was a jerking realization that it was okay. You weren’t less of a hero because of your shortcomings.
He’d been pleasant while you were planning, but you noted he didn’t seem to be as joyful as he was depicted by the media.
Your time with All Might, or Toshi as you’d taken to calling him, was nice. It wasn’t as comfortable or entertaining as your time with Shouta, but still good.
Shouta had been busy with planning of his own. He was telling you about an upcoming lesson at the USJ. All Might would be there too.
Your eyes slid to the hero in question. He was stood tall in front of his students, a wide smile on his face.
A part of you was worried about this lesson. All Might had notes in his hand he was looking over and reading from. These students were about to get taught by the world’s two best heroes, who, incidentally, had no idea how to teach.
You could kick some ass though. That was always a good thing, right?
Glancing at All Might only to realize he was giving you the same helpless look made you realize how absolutely screwed your were.
“So, quirk drawbacks, huh?” You chuckled nervously.
All Might too laughed hesitantly.
See, besides the now glaringly obvious weakness, his quirk didn’t really have any known drawbacks either. You two were essentially the worst candidates to teach this lesson. Yet, here you were.
“Some of yours I’m aware of, and I already have a few notes on what to work on. A few others though, I’m going to need you to let me know.”
You paused, looking them over a bit.
Basically, you’d had pretty much everyone figured out as far as drawbacks go. You did not have Bakugo’s figured out though. You narrowed your eyes.
“Bakugo,” you said suddenly, noting the way All Might tensed beside you.
Clearly, this kid didn’t hold back even on him.
“I still need information on you.”
The kid in question huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.
“I’ll kick your ass then maybe you’ll find out,” he spat.
That sent Iida on a long ramble about respect and whatnot. You weren’t really listening, your lips pulled in a pout.
“I’ll have you know, this is America’s ass,” you grumbled to yourself, though All Might heard you if his sudden cough was anything to go by.
You shot him a wink.
“And you’re Japan’s ass,” you said a little louder.
Considering his fame, he was ridiculously awkward in terms of compliments. In America, you got rushed by fans that laid way too many compliments on you. From what you’d seen of All Might in the press, you were sure that his situation was no different.
All Might yelled over the ramblings of his students, introducing the activity they’d be participating in. He surprisingly got it right. Mostly.
“Basically,” you summarized, “We’re going to have you use your quirks in a one-on-one battle. All Might will be on one side of the field, and I’ll be on the other. During the fight, we’ll be assessing your quirk and yelling out suggestions for how to counteract drawbacks. Whoever survives the longest in the ring wins.”
A few solemn nods followed your explanation.
“Great, I’ve already taken the liberty of splitting you into groups who will be under All Might’s watchful eyes and those who will be under mine.”
You didn’t miss the look of excitement on Mineta’s face. Idly, you wondered how much trouble you’d get in for punting a student across campus. Probably a lot. But could they blame you?
“You did?” All Might replied. At the look of confusion on the student’s faces, he continued. “Oh, you did! Right! Just like we planned!”
Man, this guy was not smooth at all.
“Kaminari, Uraraka, Tokoyami, Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, Ojiro, Jiro, Bakugo, Sero, and Midoriya- you’re with me. Everyone else with All Might.”
There was a hesitation in All Might’s eyes, and you knew exactly why. You’d chosen Midoriya on purpose. See, you had a gut feeling about All Might’s quirk. It was leagues above any other quirk, barring your own. And, your own quirk wasn’t exactly natural.
It worked almost like reincarnation. The next user was born when the previous died. With each reincarnation, the user could harness the abilities and knowledge of their predecessors. You still hadn’t fully mastered the more difficult aspect of your ability. In fact, you had only tapped into that power once before when under extreme emotional duress.
That wasn’t the point though. The point was, your quirk’s power comes from the fact that it’s not just a quirk you were born with. It was special. Which made you think that All Might’s quirk may be similar, especially since he’d always dodge the question.
After doing some research on Midoriya, you were starting to connect a few dots. Sure, you could straight up ask the dude, but you had a feeling he’d deny. Plus, where’s the fun in that?
Your little entourage of students followed you towards the right side of the ring, chatting the whole way.
You didn’t notice Shouta slip in behind either. You smiled at that.
“Kaminari, you’re up first,” you told the blonde. “Focus on smaller attacks. If you can give yourself more time between charges, you should be able to last longer in fights.”
The kid nodded, giving his classmates a thumbs up as he headed towards the ring. You took the opportunity to take a few steps back, bringing yourself closer to Shouta.
“Are you always this watchful of your students or are you just trying to spend more time with me?”
Shouta’s deadpan expression hardly changed, though you did detect a hint of pink. One sentence in and you were already working your charm.
“Cute thought, but not true.”
You smirked.
“Not that I’m unhappy to see you or anything, but you’re quite the distraction.”
You took an extra moment to drag your eyes up the length of his figure. Instead of shying away completely, he practically rose to the challenge.
“Shouldn’t you be watching the students, not me?”
You laughed, breaking the flirty atmosphere. (Though, you did catch the look that Bakugo was giving the both of you. He looked like he was going to throw up. Or just murder the both of you. Maybe both?)
“Right, have fun watching.”
You turned your focus back towards the students at hand. The trials started to go by quicker as you spent your time analyzing how you could give them an advantage with their quirk. Kaminari did well with more attacks but with less power to each one. Uraraka was a bit more challenging. However, you figured with more practice she could extend the amount of quirk she could use before she’d worry about drawbacks. You’d also discussed the option of using smaller items with her quirk, and learning hand-to-hand combat so she could combine the two for attacks.
Tokoyami’s biggest issue was too much light, or too much dark. He needed a balance for his quirk. You decided you’d work with him about controlling Dark Shadow when he was in the dark, but as for the light portion, the two of you discussed having Tokoyami take the offensive and Dark Shadow act as his defensive line.
Yaoyorozu was a question of her lipids. You discussed possibly modifying her diet, as well as crafting simple general items to begin with before worrying about larger, more complicated items that would be specific to the problem at hand. Todoroki, as previously discussed, was the easiest drawback for you to solve. After all, much like your own quirk, his was self regulating. You’d been working with him already too.
The kid’s progress really was making you proud, even if he wasn’t using his fire side fully yet.
Ojiro didn’t have much of a drawback specifically because of his quirk, but you could tell that he needed to work on his combat skills. He was good with his tail, but he needed to be good with his hands and feet too if he ever wanted to stand a chance as a pro. The main focus with Jiro was fine-tuning her offensive abilities. She had a pretty good handle on how to use her quirk for intel, but she needed to do more offensively.
Bakugo was interesting to watch. His quirk was powerful, and he had a high tolerance before he began to even hit a limit. You could see it though, when the muscle in his arms tensed passed his control. But, you wanted to work on his attitude. His temper was very familiar. It made you miss your hot-headed friend you’d left behind at your agency.
Helias, your fire protege.
You missed a lot about your old life, but mostly the four heroes who studied under you. There was one for each of the elements. You’d chosen them so carefully, hoping to pass on your knowledge and wisdom of the elements. Yet, here you were, abandoning them.
Your smile had faded then, and you forced yourself to focus on the rest of the students. After Bakugo was Sero. Sero had a limit to the amount of tape he could produce. If he could use them a bit more conservatively, then he’d find the most success. Midoriya was the last one in your group. You still didn’t let him use his quirk. You did give him some pretty good advice on how to get a hold on it without breaking all of his bones though. It was untested, and possibly wouldn’t work, but you knew what it was like to have a power more than what you could control.
By the end, all of the students were exhausted. You’d waved them off with a smile and a “good job,” not wanting to make them stick around if they didn’t have to. They all let out a breath of relief, practically dragging their feet towards the locker rooms.
“I think they learned quite a bit,” All Might pronounced proudly.
You nodded.
“Yeah, they’re doing a good job at keeping up.”
“You two need a ‘Teaching For Dummies’ book,” Shouta grumbled.
All Might frowned at your laugh.
“I think you’re just mad because the students like us more than you,” you teased, poking fun at Shouta.
Shouta muttered something under his breath that you didn’t quite catch, but you waved it off.
“Anyways, I have something I have to take care of, don’t work the kids too hard at the USJ tomorrow, okay?”
Both men nodded.
You ran off towards where the students exited only a few minutes prior. For the past few days, you’d been working with Todoroki after hours. You knew it wasn’t entirely fair to all of the students, so to partially make up for it you wanted to try and give them all extra support. You specifically wanted to focus on Bakugo at the moment though.
He had an incredibly powerful quirk, and you had no doubt that his power would bring him places, but his temper could be somewhat of an issue. That’s where you’d start. You’d help him like you helped Helias.
Then, you could start helping the others as well.
Besides, you excelled at one on one training.
