The anime has come and since I have my shipping goggles on I am going to notice so much. This part will be less spoilery for anime onlys (tho if you want to see me talk about why I ship them and why they’re complementary this is not a good part to start with haha). Edit: After completing this part I can confirm it’s fully anime-onlys friendly and spoiler-free! For manga veterans though there are still some fun tidbits to be found, some recontextualisations and new extra content.

Holy shit guys they’re mirroring each other in the mural and reaching out to each other AND looking towards each other?!!!! Their pose is so striking and like perfectly align?! Which means it was so intentional and the staff wanted to highlight them (for an aesthetic and/or narrative purpose I’m sure but it happened)! In the beginning of ep 1, when Marcille is rambling about where they could go to get food and what to grab, Chilchuck listens with a big smile & even closes his eyes as they walk. The implication is that he’s thinking about food, but man the scene hits different now that it’s voiced and I remember that indeed Chilchuck is closing his eyes to her voice and enjoying hearing her talk and ramble. I may be too far gone into the marchil pit

I feel like already they’ve come far from when Chilchuck dreaded being alone with Shuro and Marcille, waiting for the Toudens and Namari to arrive.

Ok this might actually be smth I’m gonna complain about but I feel like blushes have been drawn too vividly so far. Why does Chilchuck look like he’s confessing when he tells her she’s not a burden and he didn’t mean to make her feel that way. It almost comes across as "Woah she cares what I think?" 💀 The banter ensuing is of course also great

Ep 2 was an episode centered on them both that had the "Magic/Traps are my domain, don’t interfere!" parallel… And now with ep 3 we’re back to them being haters together. That’s her emotional support man

In ep 4, it doesn’t show well with a screenshot but when Senshi talks about his unmanned vegetable stand with a treasure chest, while in the manga Marcille and Chilchuck both think the same thing, "That’s why that treasure chest akways had money in it…", but in the anime instead they literally finish each other’s thought. Talk about being on the same wavelength.

Ep 5 is a marchil goldmine actually, it showcases perfectly how much of a package deal they are lol. Always sticking close to each other. Glancing at each other during meals… They literally nod at each other before they try a bite to steel themselves. They exchange a serious thoughtful glance when Laios talks about Falin truly being gone atm. They argue a bit but they go right back to sitting right next to each other after the meal <3 My god I can’t deal with them they are so…… "Hate this bitch, not my friend" 3 secs later "Heyy bestie!!" Also he’s worried he brought her mood down after mentioning Falin. Made a post about ep 5 collecting even more screenshots.

Episode 6 my hero my beloved… Again I made a post about the ep collecting all my screenshots here, and even a clip! But this IS the marchil crumbs masterpost thus I must collect the major ones here as well. First of all, fun staff drawings for the first screening!

I already posted a screenshot from the trailer of when Chil had his head on his knees sitting next to her, but after seeing episode 5 I think it’s a fun and interesting trend to notice that they sit next to each other way unnecessarily close wow. They continue to banter a ton, she continues to be very casual with touch, and they’re really cute! I love just how much Marcille blushed damn- It’s really cute too when you remember with the bicorn chapter that Chilchuck teases Marcille BECAUSE he enjoys getting a rise out of her, flustering her and seeing her reactions. I support the teasing -> laughing because her reaction is over the top all-Chilchuck economy. Also she apologizes for having let him go alone and be gone for so long by helping him with sewing his cowl… Cuties

She looked so happy when he opened up about his age!… And then seemed… Disappointed? When he "truly was just a kid". "So you really are a kid! the chapter songs in Alan Wake 2,, flawless

#they deserve more love and discussion #saying this while also not knowing what to say other than they’re so fucking good #alan wake 2 #i think it’s partially because poets of the fall’s tracks are iconic so of course they’re in the spotlight (as deserved) #but also the CHAPTER SONGS. them being made for a given chatacter(s) with the help of Sam lakes poetry #the changes with ‘this road’ by Poe with every Alan chapter. becoming more distorted and revealing lyrics and the spiral #the scratch song being 1) hilarious and 2) similar to Zane’s poetry in the aw1 arg #the emotion in superhero when saga feels lost at the story making it so Logan was gone #the lines of her feeling like a ghost in this story forming around her.. how she feels guilty and absent for both what the story’s doing #and being away from Logan because of her job. ashdhhhhjhh my heart #AND. follow you into the dark HAS to be alice. which kills me because at for at I thought of Alan #but no. Alice jumped in the dark place after him. it’s so !!!!!!!!!!! #the rabbit hole line. i can’t stop thinking about that jacaranda tree in tallulah’s flower fields there’s so many implications there. the solid information we have is that phil logged in yesterday to “organize backpacks”, the tree and dugout appeared seemingly overnight, the waypoint is called ‘welcome back, nerd <3’. tubbo says that it’s likely someone who doesn’t know the mechanics of planting that kind of tree due to the waypoint placement in midair & the secondary dig that seemed to have occurred after the player realized the initial dig couldn’t host the tree.

our two most implicated players there are wilbur and tallulah; phil even points out that while the waypoint name is wilbur’s verbiage, the heart emoticon is not very wilbur and is more tallulah. he however pointedly makes it known that it’s built very wilbur-style, with spruce and stone walls. and logistically (to meta-talk it) it was not ccwilbur; he did not log in at an ungodly hour, dig a hole, plant a tree, and not tell anyone. plus (if we’re looking past the dialect disconnect) there’s no real reason for him to make a waystone seemingly welcoming himself back, and he isn’t narratively aware that the eggs are even missing, so it can’t be a wilbur-made-structure in preparation for tallulah’s return. so perhaps we say ‘well maybe ccwilbur asked ccphil to do it for him for some presently unknown reason and that’s why he logged in and organized backpacks!’ except why would phil lead tubbo there knowing it didn’t make much sense and was seemingly unfinished in terms of both build and story? (cc)phil could have so very easily diverted tubbo and him both from visiting but he made it a point to go out there to the field; phil saw the tree first, pointed it out first, investigated first, tubbo just followed his lead— did he know what he was walking into? was it planned; whose idea was that, the name of the waystone, the materials and contents chosen?

there’s no black concrete, which makes me hesitant to allude it to a dimensional-tallulah structure— there’s nothing that indicates she’s communicating like there has been with all the other eggs previous communications, not even a pink sign, though you could make the argument that the tree itself is her sign because it’s her favourite kind of tree, and it’s also her favourite color, but i think it’s kind of a stretch in the grand scheme of things. plus in a meta-sense, especially if we’re taking into account phil’s recent backpack organizing activities, there’s no reason to believe that 02 wouldn’t just dig and plant the tree herself, which still begs the question that even if it IS somehow tallulah’s doing, what was phil doing yesterday?

ok not to be like he’s just like me fr…. but chayanne is just like me fr…..

i’m also the oldest child with one younger sibling who needed a lot more care when we were kids and therefore was deprived of certain needs in favor of my brother. i also had a parent that was missing a lot and depended almost solely on my dad. obviously tallulah needs more help than chay, with her asthma and lesser fighting skills, not to mention she had only been playing minecraft for like a month? or two before wilbur found her. and chay knows that! he knows that she needs more help than he does he knows he’ll do anything for her he knows he has to be the strongest to protect her. my brother and i are only a year apart but i was forced to grow up very very quickly bc i was on my own a lot as a kid while my brother was sick. phil doesn’t worry abt chay when he runs off bc he doesn’t need to, chay can take care of himself. hell, he took care of all the eggs when they first left. but at the same time, it’s comforting to know ur parent is looking out for u even when u don’t need it. phil’s not a smothering parent, he’s attentive, but not smothering. but let’s be real he can also be emotionally constipated LMAO but that leads to situations like the argument and frustration between chay and tallulah when dapper was kidnapped. in his defense, he’s never been a parent before and had 2 children thrust upon him to raise on his own. he didn’t have a lot of time to adjust to parenthood like ppl in real life do, he suddenly had 2 children who had their own thoughts and opinions and emotional needs, he didn’t get the time it takes to LEARN abt how to provide that specific care and while some ppl have that innate knowledge there is a lot of learning and navigating when it comes to emotional vulnerability and regulation esp when it comes to children who are figuring it out as well. i feel for chay when he thinks he needs to be the strongest. i feel for chay when he had to make the decision to gather the eggs and leave. i feel for chay when he had to take blame for bad things happening. and i feel for chay when he realized tallulah doesn’t need him as much anymore. my brother and i are both adults now and we had a …… tumultuous relationship as teenagers for reasons that were both our own and caused by problems outside our control. but i still remember exactly how devastating it was the moment i realized that he was fine on his own. that he didn’t need me anymore. and it caused a rift between us; on my end bc i was frustrated and felt tossed aside and on his end bc he NEEDED to be independent to keep growing. i see so much of myself in chay and i desperately wish he and tallulah had a better mediator for their argument, or at least someone who could truly understand why they were so upset. i don’t think phil clocked that tallulah was so upset and adamant abt looking for dapper bc it was just her dapper and ramon surviving on their own. just bc phil didn’t witness it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen and it doesn’t mean that they don’t have a much tighter relationship than they had before purgatory. and when chayanne said everyone was blaming him for the decisions he made phil was quick to tell him that no one was blaming him but also phil doesn’t know that! he doesn’t know if any blame was put on chayanne when it was just the eggs together. chayanne made the decision for the eggs to run and they trusted him bc he’s the oldest and he’s strong and he can be a leader but by running he also put the eggs thru a lot of pain and fear that they may not have gone thru if they stayed with their parents. and even if the eggs didn’t explicitly say that they blamed chayanne im sure he blamed himself for every little thing that went wrong. we’ve already seen him open up a tiny bit abt how he was questioning his decision to leave. but phil told him that chay made the best decision he could have given the information he had at the time which is true! but when ur the oldest and everyone is looking to u, all of the responsibility lies on ur shoulders. chayanne has been carrying SO much weight on his shoulders for so long it breaks my heart.

i think what i like a lot about the fallout setting is that it’s so good for little vignettes. i enjoy setting up a scene and plopping two characters into it and seeing where they go. there’s usually a way to add some kind of stakes into the matter without it being too over the top.

there is just something so profound about 13 different people, unlikely to all get along on any given day at the same time, to forge a bond together that is so genuine and strong that it makes me all warm and fussy inside. i think the fact that they never hid that they fought sometimes, that they sometimes spent days and weeks and months fighting or arguing in the early days, is the reason they work so well together even beyond the individual clusters of closer friends in the group. they actively cultivate and adjust and forge their friendship to remain and prevail, are unafraid for it to change or shift, and that makes it even possible for them to be in a group together. when dk was asked what’s the reason for their continued work is and he said “it’s love, of course” that is precisely what it looks like. this is what it’s like to work with people who love and wilfully love the work you do with your friends / band-members / second family atp.

#like the fact that they don’t shy away from arguing or fighting or sometimes not liking each other makes their friendship better #and makes all the little individual friendships stronger AND informs the group dynamic #they will argue sometimes but they are united against everyone else and especially their label lol #also i think dk and wonwoo are the best example of this entire thing — they used to not get along and now they are thick as thieves #friendships ebb and flow in different ways and that informs svt a lot bc they don’t shy away from it #i just love how candid and open they are about it #no pretence no fake baiting into uwu all is perfect fan service to the extent it could easily be done #they love each other yes. but then also loving their music more than anything else does so much for the group #ask #anonymous

Do…. Do people actually have an issue with stuff being written in present tense?

#I’ve heard of POV preference but seeing all these posts about how much people dislike present tense #maybe I’m just not an observant reader but I can count the number of times I’ve actively noted a book/fic’s tense on one hand #and almost always it was because I liked how it worked with the author’s writing style #you’re telling me people will consider dropping something JUST because it’s in present tense?? #genuinely can someone explain this to me? #I know some people don’t like first person pov because it feels too close and ‘I’ didn’t do anything. the character did #(I don’t really see it that way and don’t mind first person though I prefer third person) #and second person pov is rare and people don’t like it for the same reasons (being told what they as a reader ‘did’) #(I personally like second person pov a LOT but also prefer it to be a little treat actually suited to the story) #but verb tense?? as long as it all works grammatically I don’t see an issue #a lot of the examples I see of how present tense doesn’t work is showing two paragraphs side by side in the past and present #and I will agree that the present reads worse comparatively #but also it’s because the sentences were obviously (at least imo) written and structured for past tense first #and then ‘translated’ to present tense if that makes sense #I personally like how present tense lets me play with my sentences #but also I know that when I play with time and have a character recount past events within their own internal musings I switch tense #which I would think is allowed?? but maybe that’s bad form and I’m proving the point why past tense is ‘superior’ #(I don’t really care for fic writing purposes as long as it flows and isn’t distracting but who’s to say) #anyways this was long but yeah. genuinely curious about this one #white weasel talks #tbd probs

Working with a Zoroastrian beta reader for my novel is wonderful and gets complex so so so quickly. It’s fun.

#trying to nail down what I’m calling the language of 6th century peoples is wild #like if we look at Gawain for example he could be speaking a number of things under the Britthonic umbrella #so then we look at Persian Ragnelle & the langauge is technically Middle Persian or Pahlavi but their holy texts were in Avestan & AHHHHH #everyone is communicating telepathically I wash my hands of this #don’t question it it’s fantasy yes historical fantasy but it has to flow as well #this beta reader is helping me find a balance :^) #also they are paid by the way this is way too much work for free #pay the people helping you no exceptions
