My unpopular opinion about this character: I love all gender headcanons for Roxy!! I headcanoned Roxy as a trans woman before the epilogues and I still tend to lean towards transfemme Roxy, but nonbinary Roxy is extremely excellent as well and is why I use they/them for Roxy most of the time! and I know trans man Roxy is important for some trans guys too, so fuck yeah trans man Roxy! also another unpopular onion that might not be that unpopular... blease stop drawing Roxy with a martini glass or some other alcohol in their hand. I’m begging y’all. Roxy’s arc involved realizing their alcoholism was extremely bad for them and they’re the only goddamn person in this comic to acknowledge one of their flaws and actually go about FIXING it, please respect that

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: did you guys know that Roxy and Dirk talked ONCE IN CANON? I found this out and was filled with rage. What the fuck. I demand more content with Dirk and Roxy. I will accept this in the form of Roxy grabbing Ult Dirk by his stupid cape and slapping some sense into him and him actually listening to them bc the Dirk I know and love respects Roxy immensely. 99% sure that if mom lalonde and dad egbert had survived long enough to get married, rose and dave wouldve adopted jade as their sister so she wouldnt feel excluded from the strilonde-egbert step-siblinghood. and by the time they met the alphas rose would have a field day with thier love struggles.

ok so let’s see…

we got grampa & grandma and two dads,

Jade and John are Jake and Jane’s cousins; their dads are brothers, jade and jake live with grandpa though on the island and his cruise ship, while jane and john live in john’s dad’s house with grandma. jane’s dad is dead i guess.

then we got rose and mom lalonde, mom’s brother bro strider and his son dave, and her other brother dave (alpha) and his son dirk, and her sister rose (alpha) and her daughter roxy. dave & rose (alpha) died, so mom lalonde takes in roxy, and bro takes in dirk, rose & roxy and dave & dirk grow up as sibling pairs before mom takes them all in, no longer trusting in bro’s care.

so when mom lalonde marries dad egbert, jade, jake, jane, john, dave, rose, roxy, and dirk are all essentially now sibling-cousins, and they’re all highly amused by this while also none of them liking it at all cause they all had crushes on each other before this and the marriage just threw a monkey wrench into everbody’s business, and bonus points if mom married dad out of passive aggression or something really boring like tax benefits.

tbh most of this is my headcanon for how the family’s work anyway; cept in my aus, mom and dad are never usually a thing & roxy usually ends up the new head of the strilondes and becomes the new & improved mom.

honestly this au specifically sounds like something i’d have to visualize by playing the sims, in order to properly sort it all out.

actually, what if, mom and dad were divorced though? like a reverse family gathering au. just, a family disintegrating, and splintering off into the winds, the children, learning about their relations long after the dust already settled; “Dave your crush is our ex-brother.” “who isnt our ex-brother, at this point though?” “fair enough.”

first of all, here is my femslash recs list from a while back; check that out first!

second of all, a recommendation for in what distant deeps or skies even though it’s on the other list already because i recently had time to finish it and it is amazing. i don’t think i’ll ever get over vrisrezi space opera fics.

hm. haven’t had time to read much recently, but i’ve been reading Like One Sundered Star over the past 2 days or so and it’s good. the length is daunting but if you haven’t checked it out already, i suggest checking it out.

ill met by moonlight is another (vrisrezi) fic by unintelligiblescreaming and yeah, there’s a little bit of explicit stuff but most of it is SFW and it’s very good; a fae AU, a lot of fun, and some great vrisrezi moments. just getting into the action now.

i don’t have any other f/f to rec today because, well, i’m lame and haven’t read much homestuck fic recently (get into bnha and i have a large list of super good fics though) so here’s some misc, genfic, and m/m:

i dont think i’ve officially put this on a recs list even though i have recced it before so here: romancing the spitting image of your ex by veniae is like, a really good dirkjohn fic, and it’s super funny and a cool exploration of Life Post-Sburb.

It’s always a near miss. this is a genfic and it’s uhh.. dont wanna spoil anything but it’s about hal. and dirk. and like, apocalypse stranded ocean dirk. it’s......fun

It Had To Be You is a davekat fic i’ve been following since it started, and it’s pretty fun - dave getting over a crush on john (haha) and reconciling with karkat, with whom he hasn’t spoken to in a while. also the writer, ro, is a sweetheart.

the sun coming through is another davekat fic that i really really like, one of my faves - classic college au. karkat is trans, which is a bonus. it’s really well written, superb sense of characterisation, fun times. lots of that sweet pining.

paper knives i know i don’t talk about it a lot, but i still love paper knives a lot - real life au where alpha dave / rose and Not Evil bro and mom lalonde (but a bit different) adopt dirk and roxy, who’ve had bad experiences with foster care etc. rose and dave are there too. it’s fun times and a lot of the sweet, sweet genfic centred around strilondes that we all wanted. also void if you’re seeing this i love you.

edit: i have a text next period so i don’t have time to write more, but thanks for asking! i might make a list in the future if someone asks, once i actually buff up my list of fics (i recently lost my chrome bookmarks, where i’d saved a few hundred homestuck fics, listed by ships and characters etc., which is disappointing.)

The Footsteps is a post apocalyptic story focusing on Bro (Not An Asshole Bro) and young Dave trying to survive. it’s got some serious themes (like cannibalism) and it’s a...good read. genfic.

How To Never Stop Being Sad is a Roxy-centric (wooo!! a rare gem!) fic surrounding Roxy dealing with unrequited feelings for Jane, who confides in her about Jake. it’s written by a lovely person, and it’s a beautifully written piece.

If I Lose Everything In The Fire is a pacific rim davekat AU which is... it’s a lot. i don’t wanna spoil anythign but it’s good.

a two shot series called We Are Legend which is, guess what, more apocalypsestuck. dunno why i used to read so much apocalypsestuck but...fun

category: fun family times

the Perfect Little Freaks series is another Super Large Strider-Lalonde Family Fic, if that’s what you’re into. uh, sidenote though, i’m not a fan of all the side ships, but especially for the early fics in the series, they aren’t touched on as much.

me, recommending Paper Knives twice in one post: read it???just? read it y’all

the all in good time series which is about...post-game dave? the second fic, called Falling For The First Time, is an alpha dave + dirk centric fic, which is a lot of fun. alpha universe fics are pretty fun.
