prince!stede x davyjones!ed in my head go brr

i havent finished my current project yet but

i am a SUCKER for cliches and tropes if you've read any of my works you know this. so here goes

basically in this wip stede is already heir apparent and is the CROWN prince, is married and has children of his own.

but mama bonnet was a concubine, and he ended up being born earlier than the queen's (daughter of a duke) children did. the kingdom has strict rules and traditions and fantasy religion something something, and papa bonnet is like tywin lannister, so as much as he despises stede, he won't renounce him as crown prince and declare either nigel or chauncey as his heir. he is BIG on duty and rules and won't let stede step down either.

that's why the whole family is trying to get rid of stede by subtle assassination attempts to be like "oh! he died of natural causes </3" instead of ruining the whole royal family's reputation openly. stede is going thru it basically. he cant give up the crown, he cant run away (mary and the kids..), the only out for him is either death or becoming king himself -- not because he deserves to be king, but because it's his birthright, as the faction who rose up against the current queen (ascendants), whether they want stede or not, are in the opinion of. the current queen also amassed the faction called "sovereigns" -- so it's become a struggle between commonwealth and royalists, politically. stede isn't treated as the crown prince at all, by the way. chauncey and nigel are held above him. stede is more or less treated as a bastard even though he is legitimate because he's hated by the queen's faction.

the general idea is that ed is going to land in the middle of this like an asteroid. he is the "slayer" of the kraken, once a mere knight of the kingdom who ended up becoming the dread pirate blackbeard ruling the seas and basically claiming his own territory from the kingdom. the details are NOT THERE YET. there may or may not be a potc davy jones-esque curse on him. this may or may not be a weird take on the beauty and the beast now that i think about it. omg

he's bored, though. like, "fuck it let me play aristocrat for a minute and have fun what's the worse that can happen i can solo this kingdom if i want to" type of bored. he wants to play around.

but his attention on stede is accidentally going to translate as his support and man will flip the whole place upside down. but his "haha omg POLITICSSSSS intrigue this is so fun" is eventually going to turn into "NAAAA WTF i want to steal this man away from here"

and of course history will repeat itself and we're ending the first half of the fic with stede bailing on ed about running away. at this point stede probably will have broken ed's curse and "defanged" (he said it not me) him so ed is having double the identity crisis now that he isn't chained to the ocean AND stede performed a hit it and quit it on him

there are so many scenes bouncing around in my head im just. HAHSUDHDUDSHDHJS

im a 80% sure the title will be "gilded cages come with wilted rages" because i'm corny like that.

man. every day i'm daydreaming about this. just wanted to let it out of my chest BHHHHHHH

Firstly, love your writing so much. Secondly, I have a question: do you have a fic idea that you’ve had for the longest time, but have never written for whatever reason? Like any story idea that you really enjoyed, but just never wrote a fic for? May I ask what (and the ship you’ve imagined it with) that idea is? Or have you written stories for all the ideas you’ve had? Yikes sorry if this is super confusing.

So, I hesitated in answering this because I feel like this would be a long winded answer and I honestly am just too lazy to go into all of this. Lol

But yeah there isn’t just an idea that I have had that hasn’t or will never get done…there are tons. A lot of which are crossovers. Like when people were all, “Ship Bonnie with all the things.” I had a ton of crossover ideas I posted about, including a Once Upon a Time crossover, a HP crossover with a Harry/Bonnie/Draco triangle, and a couple of GoT Crossovers I came up with in the early seasons, one of which was a poly-fic with Dany/Bonnie/Drogo when I could still stomach Dany as a character, which did not last long.

In terms of canon or AU-canon stuff, there’s the more recent Stefonnie ideas I posted, a lot of which are getting shelved. There was a idea I posted like years ago for a Bonnie/Mikael fic where she went back in time and became his concubine and both Klaus and Elijah would’ve developed feelings for her as well. There was a few Bonnie/Marcel fics I was playing around with writing but I didn’t watch TO and I didn’t have a well enough handle on his character and mostly wanted the pairing because of how pretty CMD is.

I had a few Bonbekah fic ideas that I started to post but never continued due to general lack of interest. There was also a fic I really wanted to do with that was sort of a Klaus/Bonnie/Rebekah version of the Rihanna, “Bitch Better Have My Money” video but it was too far on the AU side and had worldbuilding and plotting that I didn’t have the time for and I was like 99% sure no one would read it. Lol

I have also been sitting on quite a few Bamon fic ideas that I have not posted due to my love/hate relationship with both Damon and the Bamon fandom. Even the fic I have up now, people were complaining about the direction I was taking it when it’s like barely two chapters in so I lost my momentum to even bother to continue just because of the annoyance and how entitled people could be when it comes to Damon and his characterization and his man pain. This this same reason I stopped writing one of my ALL TIME favorite stories of mine that I put soooo much work and research time in, The Gods of Viriginia, just because of people’s commentary and them being more concerned with Bonnie needing to choose Damon, “because he’s always the second choice blah blah blah” and not actually paying attention to the story arc, Bonnie’s character journey or her dynamic with both brothers, but that’s the peril of writing a triangle I guess, people miss the point. Lol which is fine I guess, but I just stop being interested in the story when people get entitled over the outcome or feel like they can tell me what and how to write it, like it’s my story so it’s going in the direction I want it to and if I feel like there’s more complaining about pairings or whatever instead of anything constructive or encouraging I just am kind of like fuck it and stop posting it, even if I do continue to write it for my own amusement later on. But anyway that’s way off point (this is why I lowkey hate answering questions because I overthink shit and ramble and get off topic and probably on your nerves because it had nothing to do with the ask)…

But yeah I have been sitting on a few Bamon ideas for a while. One of which had Damon jumping forward when trying to desert the Civil War in time but I ditched that once pretty quickly when I rewatched the 1864 flashbacks years ago because he only deserted because Katherine compelled him to return to her “quickly” and not for any actual reason in terms of the Southern mentality or politics of the time or disagreeing with slavery, which shouldn’t have surprised me on a show which couldn’t even admit that Emily was a damn slave and not a “handmaiden” but again I am off topic. But anyway Bamon is a monster I try not to take one just because of the reasons stated above and honestly because the pairing already has a surplus of fics and a lot of plots that have been done before and I am not a big enough fan of the pairing to contribute more to an already large fic collection.

I am honestly a sucker for the rare pairs. Speaking of which, I had an idea for a Tyler/Bonnie/Mason fic that I am working the kinks out on, so hopefully it does actually get posted one day. I also like the idea of Bonlijah but I have a hard time coming up with fic ideas for them. Like I like them but they don’t inspire my muse at all hardly. There was one I thought about doing with Celeste possessing Bonnie when she channeled the witches to kill Klaus but again I don’t watch TO so I didn’t have a handle on her character and it felt more like a Celeste/Elijah with Bonnie as a go between instead of an actual Bonlijah story. I did also come up with a few ideas for Bonnie/Silas, a lot of which included either Stefonnie or Klonnie but I feel like no one would read those either, the one I actually ended up posting, Amaranthine, didn’t get much traction. That’s kind of what I do sometimes, put out “feeler fics” to see how much interest they garner. But it’s hard to kind of think that way with my older fics because some of them actually had a large fanbase before they were taken down the first time so I can’t really go by review numbers except for with the newer stuff.

This got hella long like I suspected it would so I will just stop rambling here. I will say though, there’s always going to be ideas that I come up with that never happen. That is honestly just apart of being a writer. Most of us have minds that are alway at work and the plot bunnies are never ending. The ones that actually get done are usually the ones that stay with you and don’t leave you alone.
