People be like “You like ugly men” and I say “Bitch, where?” and then they point at Lambert and I say “Bitch, WHERE”
Lambert isn’t ugly. He’s rugged and battle-scarred.
Honestly he is a bit ugly, I’m not going to defend him too hard here, but he is also the sexiest man alive so people better stop acting like he isn’t

Okay yes I’m Jewish Father Brown posting again but I don’t yet have the time/energy to write my Jewish Inspectors fic and I want to project my Jewish Feelings onto these men so hear me out
Not only are all the inspectors Jewish, but they all deal with being Jewish in a heavily Catholic post-war small village in a different way
Valentine:
He’s kind of come to terms with the fact that antisemitism is just... part of his life. It’s gonna happen. He won’t actively antagonise anyone or flaunt that he’s Jewish, but he’s also not about to pretend to be xtian either
Yes he’s an atheist, yes he’s Jewish, no those two aren’t incompatible and he will be pissy about it if you ask him how he can be both. He’ll answer you, sure, but he’ll make it Very Clear he doesn’t appreciate it
Generally, he’s Not Here To Educate the xtians about Judaism
When he first meets Sullivan there’s a sort of moment of Recognition. He makes sure as he’s leaving to drop a hint that he’s also Jewish. Just so Sullivan knows that he’ll at least mostly be safe there
Okay so side tangent Sid headcanon that will become relevant: Sid’s Jewish. He was sent away during the Blitz (I’m estimating based on vague calculations that he was about 15 or so at the time) to an xtian family, and when his parents died he just sort of had to stay. So he was raised xtian and was never allowed to acknowledge that he was Jewish. I mean, most people can sort of tell and he gets stereotyped a lot for it, but he doesn’t know why because he’s just totally oblivious and the family he stayed with were Very Insistent that he was a good xtian boy and not a Jew and he ended up pretty much forgetting. He’s kind of heard hints of it from his grandmother when he gets to see her, but she wasn’t in a position to raise him and she thinks he’s probably safer not knowing
Anyway Valentine is very protective over Sid cause he sees this young Jewish guy who doesn’t even know that he has a whole culture, a whole family of people all over the country. A family who are collectively grieving. Sid doesn’t know what horrors have befallen his people (he knows what happened, but not that they’re His People). Valentine’s heart aches a bit whenever he thinks about it and he sort of vows to protect Sid in his own gruff way.
Valentine is proud of being Jewish but in a very quiet way. He’s not going to change himself to fit xtian society but also he’s sensible enough to know it’s a pretty bad idea for him to be Too Loud about it in Kembleford
Sullivan:
Oh this man fakes everything. He has never been authentic a day in his life. He pretends to be xtian, he pretends to be cishet, he pretends to be neurotypical. Nothing about how this man presents himself is authentic
He’s valid though, he knows the dangers of being different and he’s not about to give people a reason to hurt him
He’s from the East End of London, so he’s actually not used to hiding his Judaism as much. He’s from a heavily Jewish community and he was terrified when he got transferred to a small village
Why does he wear so much hair gel? Curls. Big springy Jewish curls. He can’t let people see them. He’s very very very strict about having hair gel in any time he leaves the house. Enough hair gel to keep his hair straight, which is a lot
He’s sort of... trying. To pretend to be xtian. But he’s really not very good at it. Like I said, he grew up in a heavily Jewish neighbourhood, he doesn’t know much about xtians other than, y’know, all the times they’ve oppressed the Jews. So he sort of goes to church when he remembers and tries to copy everyone else, but it doesn’t work very well. And he’ll pretend to celebrate Christmas but it doesn’t make much sense to him and he’s very uncomfortable
Most of his hostility towards Father Brown is because of the big alarm bells that go off in his head when he sees a priest in general. At all times he’s half expecting the Father to start talking about the “hypocrites in the synagogue” or some other equally thinly veiled antisemitism. He’s had Bad Experiences, he’s traumatised, and he’s having a Very Bad Time
He’s half envious of Sid and half pities him. Part of him wishes he was as ignorant of antisemitism and Judaism as Sid is, part of him wishes that Sid was as painfully aware of it as he is. But all of him feels a weird attachment to Sid because they’re both queer nd Jews, even if Sid doesn’t know it
He also sort of hates the Father for hanging out with Sid because he’s heard all the stories of priests stealing Jewish children to raise them xtian and while it’s not Quite the same situation with Sid, it’s a painful sort of echo of it, and he just desperately wants to save Sid, to teach him about who he is. And because of this mental association, seeing Sid do anything xtian feels like a punch to the stomach for him because it reminds him that Sid doesn’t know he’s Jewish
He got this sort of painful gut wrenching feeling when he saw Sid dressed as a priest. Like he felt physically sick even once he realised it was just an undercover job. It just hit way too close to home, especially with Sid not even knowing he’s not xtian
He’s calmed down a lot and is less jumpy by the time he leaves. He even thinks it’s a little funny when he finds out that the man taking over for him is also Jewish. He thinks about Valentine, he thinks about himself, he thinks about Mallory, and he thinks about how they’re sort of like a family. Almost like three generations, like being the Inspector is a family business. It makes him feel kind of warm and fuzzy in a way he hasn’t felt since his last Passover back in London with his whole family sitting around the seder table, and he can’t wait to have Passover with them again soon
Mallory (beloved bastard man):
He leans into it hard
Yeah, he’s Jewish, and what the fuck do you plan to do about it?
Durham has never really been known for it’s Jewish community, so he’s more than used to being the only Jew around
Part of why he’s such a horrible little bastard man is that he’s come to just accept Jewish stereotypes. His thought process is a little something like “if you’re going to accuse me of it anyway, I might as well do it”
He’s a stubborn guy, so he just decides to embody all the stuff people think he should be. Sure he’ll be annoying and rude and immoral and promiscuous and weak and all the other horrible things xtians think a Jewish man is
No he will not participate in xtian things if he can help it. He will not go to church, he will not celebrate Christmas unless he has to, he will not call Father Brown “Father”
He calls him “padre” because he refuses to call a priest “Father” it’s just too weird and xtian to him
He does NOT like Sid. He hates Sid a lot. He kinda blames Sid for not working harder to hold on to his Judaism (he’s Not valid for this, but it’s how he feels)
Anyway I’m not saying any of this is Good, but like.......let me have my Bad Jewish Representation
Also I like to think he speaks Yiddish :3
Anyway, one day I’ll write my Jewish Inspectors fic

Any riddler u want x depressed male SO with bad ptsd (help i need serotonin and ur content is So Good)
aww bb. im sorry youre not doin so good rn. you know im always here for u <3
i think i will do arkham riddler and maybe blacklight riddler since they also canonically have PTSD, i feel like they would be able to empathise.
read more for mentions of mental illness and abuse
Arkham Riddler
He could write a 5 page essay on how trauma has fucked him up, without actually admitting he’s been fucked up . He’s pissy no one seems to take PTSD in men seriously unless its from combat. You both have been told to “man up” and get over it. Cheers neurotypical, thats helpful.
riddler has never been diagnosed with PTSD but even if he had, he’s not going to admit he’s got it. then you roll around and he’s like “oh shit it me.” when he sees you struggle. He’s still not even trying to get help but you help him understand so much more.
Riddler has an eidetic memory. Everything seems like a flashback to him at times. he understands you cant always control it. for his sake and yours he tries his best to keep his hideouts
he has a lot of stuff around to help with dissociation lying around. heavy blankets, tangle toys textured surfaces, sometimes lil sweets , snacks or food just to have one of your senses engaged  and hopefully ground you.
he really struggles to control his fits of anger at times. but, he knows how triggering this is for you so he’s doing his best to just take himself away when he feels it coming on. You seem to have a 6th sense for his tantrums and depending on your headspace, can either remove yourself from the situation or try and comfort him through it.
he hates to see you lie under your depression. in his narcissism riddled mind, he really thinks he can help cure you. but seeing you just lie there in bed not wanting to exist mostly discourages him from taking up chemistry and pharmacy to make you any experimental mood drugs. He’ll probably just bring you some coco and sit with you while it passes.
he cant help, not really, he doesnt have the capacity. but at least if youre in a pit of misery you dont have to be alone.
Blacklight riddler
i guess you could call him a little more proactive in his approach to your ailments. He knew you were suffering when you two got together so right from the get go he had things in place to try and make you a little more comfortable.
He’s got trauma but he’s done his stint in therapy. he takes his meds and his problems are mostly managed. Because of this he knows what you're going through, what you will have to go through to get to the other side of this. he wont dare compare traumas or recovery, that's not fair on anyone, but at the very least he’s going to empathise with what happened to you.
now, Edward is not an angry man. Perhaps when he was younger, less in control of himself sure, he was prone to being easily angered. but if there’s one thing in life thats still going to make him see red its when people minimise male childhood abuse survivors. do they not realise that LITERALLY kills people??? how many men have suffered and even died because they were shamed or discouraged from seeking help?! he doesnt like murder, he doesnt want to upset or traumatise you further but like....just say the word and he’ll seal a bitch in an oubliette.
his apartment his a sort of safe zone. like theres no noise, no smells  comfort foods and easy access to therapists and doctors. the building itself is basically a fortress with a deadbolt door that would make batman jealous. good for someone trying to avoid triggers , feel safe and as a bunker for the zombie apocalypse.
listen, he gets recovery isnt linear. if you wana lie spend a day in a depression pit he’ll leave you be, maybe come lie besides you if you want him to so you dont have to suffer alone. but please dont mistake this for him trying to push you too hard. he’s just doing what he wishes someone would do for him, he had to climb out of the hole with no one to give him a hand and he wouldn't wish that on anyone.
but that being said he’s not going to just let you waste away. he will cook for you if you cant, brush your hair and your teeth if you don't have the energy. he’ll even give you a bath if you haven't showered in a while. of course, he wont force this on you, he knows to respect your boundaries.  but he wants you to know the option is there, he’ll do anything for you to make you feel even a little better. you’re in this together
i hope this sparks the joy, love. its rough all over and i wish i could give you a proper hug. maybe when this is all over we will. i know things are tough right now but it will get better. dont forget how far youve come, even only in the time we’ve been friends. im always proud of you 💙
got something you wana talk about? send me an ask or a dm! im aways game to talk about our favorite curious menace 💚💜

I generally don't like bringing up the writers name when I criticize the content of the story because what I'm doing is criticizing the story not the writers but god Miles said the dumbest shit about Yang's semblance and it really shows his flaws as a writer if he doesn't understand we need to see a prevailing theme of every time Yang used her semblance is negatively impacted her in some small way not just Yang uses it once and it negatively impacts because that is not a trend
Anonymous said:
like it shows the utter lack of planning skills because Yang’s semblance has not been shown to always been tied to anger like Juniors club Yang isn’t angry there when they fight the paladin it isn’t shown connected anger when shes uses it against Mercury it isn’t connected to anger if the writers wanted Tai’s assessment to be accurate they should have tried harder like they done a piss poor job at trying to get a message across and people praise them for it
Anonymous said:
also not to mention how fucking Yang’s anger is framed in the most unsympathetic light when men’s anger is nearly always portrayed as valid with the only one who isn’t is Adam like they may not have intended it but boy oh boy there sure is a lot to unpack in how they treat a girls anger as a temper tantrum but give men’s anger nothing but respect and understanding
its a problem of trying to act like “Yang is angry” is a flaw when it literally only comes up and is framed as a flaw all of once. with a minor character who only had three scenes and spent most of them acting like a dick ranting at her (oh but of course thats “tough love”) and all his arguments making no sense if you actually go back and use your goddamn eyes because regardless of what Miles was intent to portray Yangs flaws as, anger is never one of them
Yang is shown as early as volume 1 to have a pretty good lid on her temper, when it does flare up, its to refocus after she gets overwhelmed by so many things happen at once and she very quickly calms down afterwards and never lashes out at anyone for it. volume 2, Burning the Candle, we start with a demonstration of just her base strength, lifting that heavy speaker like its nothing, and when her conversation with Blake resorts to shoving, Yang is visibly angry, eyes red, yet Blake is only shoved into the desk, and not very hard, when that earlier demonstration shows Yang could easily have put Blake through that desk if she wasnt in control of herself (but also just, for gods sake, people are allowed to be angry, acting like only Yang is Wrong and Bad for getting angry when her anger doesnt even lead to awful consequences like it does with other characters who actually do make stupid, irrational decisions when they get mad is just ridiculous)
Yangs flaws, from how ive been watching the show, have always been far subtler than surface assumptions would suggest (much like, yknow, literally everything else about her character); how unhealthily selfless she is, how she doesnt communicate how shes feeling, burying and bottling up her emotions until they just burst out because she has trouble talking to anyone about it; hell she didnt even talk to her dad about it, it took her until she was far, far away from home (on a mission that he implied he only couldnt go on because he was taking care of her, so… yeah good job Tai you lazy shit, letting your emotionally neglected and traumatised eldest daughter take care of your youngest in your stead. again) for her to even mention Blake and how hurt she was by her leaving
and it just seems to me that treating Yang as in the wrong for doing something that has never actually had negative consequences on her part - especially when getting other characters getting angry has had negative consequences and theyre not even reprimanded for it, like Jaune getting pissy that Cinder didnt recognise him and starting a fight when the group was at a disadvantage, or Qrow punching Ozpin and hurting Oscar - and that she shouldnt be using her Semblance, or getting angry at all despite how much control she demonstrates throughout, is just encouraging that she bottle things up until she explodes
because thats healthy, repress and ignore all your negative feelings and only ever be positive, having a constructive way of dealing with them that doesnt harm others is for idiots
