Would you ever write original fiction?
I would. I currently do, actually, though a lot of it is in planning phase, because I have learned my lesson with world building about proceeding without a plan. Hilariously, one of them, probably the longest one, started off as a joke. And then it sort of continued as a joke. And then it turned into 25k words scattered across three different platforms, a serious character overhaul, and it's got at the center of it what probably has a label (queerplatonic? Except I don't know why that's different than just platonic, but multiple beta readers have told me that it is) and has gone through several dozen incarnations stemming mostly from people asking me really basic questions and me stopping dead and going "....my friends are GENIUSES."
I digress.
There are four main stories that I work on almost continuously, and I categorize them by character duos:
Lucian and Ben Nate and Rue Lir and Tally Samson and Delilah
Which is hilarious, because absolutely none of them are romance, or even have a romantic relationship in them. Though my favorite "relationship" is probably a toss up between Rue and Nate (one is a military science member, the other is a space pirate, and their childhood besties) and Lir and Tally (one is an lucht siúil and the other is an amnesiac child of Aine from Celtic mythology).
ONE DAY - they may even be finshed. THEY MAY EVEN BE PUBLISHED. But probably when I am 110, because fanfic tends to distract me.

grá toirmiscthe gan choinne.
D'oscail mé mo chroí arís chun grá; grá a shíl mé a mhairfeadh.
An mbeidh grá sa chéad domhan eile? Nó, cloí leis an sean-ghrá a ghlac taistealaí éigin? An Lucht Siúil a bhfuil cónaí orthu araon sa dorchadas - beirt chréatúr a chruthaíonn scéal ar a dtugtar grá toirmiscthe gan choinne..

Hi my name is Dean Rheims and I am an Artist from the Irish Traveller community (Irish: an lucht siúil, meaning "the walking people" also known as Ridirí an Bhóthair meaning "knights of the road"). I am also from the Scottish Gypsy Traveller (Nawken) community. My art and my ethnicities are greatly intertwined. I use my art to convey the message that ultimately we as Gypsy and Traveller people/communities are not the stereotypes that the mainstream media curates, in fact we are so much more. I depict my people in futuristic, utopian and fantasy environments, not just to inspire my fellow community members but also to show the world that we are more than just the stereotypes To see us as more than the stereotypes. #GRTfuturism linktr.ee/DeanRheims

Irish Travellers (In Irish: an lucht siúil, meaning "the walking people"), are a traditionally nomadic ethnic-cultural group originating in Ireland. Irish Travellers mostly live in Ireland, as well as in large communities in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.

ok fuck it
gonna summarize
lucht siúil is the name for an irish ethnic group called the irish travelers. and like... nobody really knows where we came from?? theres lots of theories. but we ended up just kinda moving around a lot. another (more offensive) name for us is pikeys which is also kind of a term for any non-romani traveling group? from what ive seen
but anyways a bunch of lucht siúil moved to the americas during The Big Potatoe Famine which is where part of my family cam from. some settled kind of in groups like murphy village but others just kinda integrated because. you know. american melting pot
but other irish people are super reluctant to claim lucht siúil under the whole irish flag just because people people historically were (and honestly in great britain still are) kinda shitty to us. researching my heritage meant seeing a lot of jokes about inbreeding and “haha those dam travelers stealing and smuggling everything”. so that sucked
but its really neat. the language is cool too from what ive seen?? theres 3 main languages: cant shelta and gammon. theyre all kind of a big mix of english irish gaelic and hebrew. shelta is a version of cant thats spoken in the us so if i learn anything more than gaelic itll probably be that

(Edema Ruh).
youtube

Stop using “Lucht Siúil” instead of wanderer to make yourself sound even deep/mysterious/pretentious.
I noticed this trend all over the internet when I was trying to find resources on Traveller history and culture for a personal project on prejudice in Ireland. And I have two big problems with it.
1. It makes no sense grammatically, An Lucht refers to a crowd or a group of people so you cannot use it to yourself alone, a member of the group is Duine den Lucht.
2. It doesn’t refer to travellers/wanderers in general, but rather to the Irish Travellers specifically, an ethnic and cultural minority in Ireland who are distinct from, but related to, the settled population and different from the Romani. Calling yourself by it if you aren’t a member of that group just makes you another pseudo-hippy asshat appropriating the words and names from a culture you have no ties to or understanding of.
