#and in fact that was what gave it away that it wasn't actually elena

apparently I'm never shutting up about this, but the tiny, barely perceptible difference in Elena when it's actually Katherine! even in s3, when she's playing Bonnie to get the necklace, there's a tiiiiiny change in her. Katherine's got Elena's posture and style and speaking down perfectly, but! she says less than Elena would, letting the others fill in the empty spaces for her - gathering info and also avoiding giving herself away all in one move. she also sits and moves in a way that hides her sun bracelet. idk I just love these details

In your version of the Bruno got sent to the Isle AU, what have the rest of the Madrigals been up to since then?
Pretty much the same as in canon after he "left", with the main difference this time they knew exactly where he was and why he wasn't there with them. They have a softer view of him because of this because they know he was taken away and they can't forget why and how. (the villagers don't though, they think Bruno should have warned them in advance and also think Bruno was the reason Auradon got there in the first place, which is true but not for the reasons they think)
It's very painful and Alma did her best to try not to make it too evident for the sake of Encanto and the family, hence the ban on Bruno's name, for better or worse (she doesn't want the reminder of her failure to protect him, nor likes to hear her son being badmouthed). She writes at least two letters a year, one to King Beast and one to Queen Elena (remember that in my AU, Encanto is part of Avalor), to ask for Bruno's freedom, to no avail so far. Elena is actually sorry and answers every time she wishes she can change the sentence, Beast doesn't even read them as all the requests in favor of the prisoners of the Isle are sent to the Bureau of Isle Affairs and left there (Ben will find them, at some point. He will find lots of them, not only the ones for Bruno).
So the family moves on and tries to go on as it did. Obviously, Dolores wouldn't remember what he sounds like and Camilo has no clue how to depict him face-wise save for the murals (but he still believes he's 7ft tall and got the glowing eyes story from listening around), other than the fact they'd have a pile of prophecy tablets no one knows how to interpret because Bruno sort of spouted them out just before he was taken away and just left them in his tower. Alma tried to sort them out at first but gave up pretty soon (he destroyed Mirabel's one anyway, just in case), little Isabela and Dolores at some point snuck in to see if there was any about themselves, which led the adults to lock the tower's door and forbid the kids from entering.
After the new door appears, the adults multiply their attempts at reaching out to Bruno somehow and/or to get custody of the child at least, but those things are ignored too and King Beast's secretaries refuse to book an appointment for the Madrigals with the High King as the Madrigals aren't important enough to waste the High King's time. (perhaps, if she had heard of it, Belle would have met them. Not that it would do much, Cinderella had the chance to speak with her and nothing changed for Anastasia as per the Council's decision, but at least Cinderella knows the names of her step-niblings if nothing else. The Madrigals only had that C and a birthday date).

If the Other Side continued to exist, then you would be there rather than this subordinate prison world which had been designed for one bad witch. Kai's own kind feared him, you had experienced him mentally draining your energy, he was a chore to put up with, but he could do much more than that, you had learnt from Bonnie. He fed off magic, physically stealing it from bodies and items that harboured any of it, which had poisoned his mind to hunt for power. Your friends had informed you that he had murdered his siblings, well some of them anyway, and had attempted to do so to more of them. And now you knew, with supporting evidence, never to trust Malakai Parker.
Without Damon and Bonnie you had to resort to fending for yourself, which was not at all difficult since this version of Mystic Falls that you were trapped in was quite literally a ghost town. The forever enveloping silence was torture, though the method of ignorance had not been designed for you; it was all for Kai, and that unsettled you. There was one more thing that you had been dreading - the possibility that you could not escape from the remote isolation without the aid of the guest starring siphon himself. This hell was built to contain him for eternity, but now there was magic that he could use to his own advantage nearby.
Your cheek rested upon the side of your hand, mushing the flesh whilst your elbow was poised upon the countertop of the kitchen island in the Salvatore house. All of your concentration validated your deep thoughts, of which you were broken from as a plate was placed directly in front of you, a pancake decorated with chocolate chips and syrup to form a smiley face. Damon was the culprit as he threw a tea towel over his shoulder, expectedly looking at you.
"I'm not hungry." You informed the vampire, who simply frowned at your lack of an appetite. "I ate yesterday, which was technically today." Beneath the table, you crossed your ankles, as you earnt a sigh from your well aged friend; he clearly was not impressed by your behaviour. But you didn't know what he had expected from you, you had been trapped here for longer than you could remember, and alone until you had discovered the man that had been outcast by his own family. At the time you had not known of his murderous tendencies, and had wanted nothing more than to get away from him, and you wouldn't like to admit it but you even missed him a little.
He was annoying and cocky, and withheld crucial information from you, though there was something that contradicted that all. Whenever any one of your friends had suffered the fate of death, they were always attempted to be brought back to life against the natural order of things. It made you wonder and doubt a little if they had even tried to resurrect you. In this separated reality, there was no jurisdiction so that you could know, though each time that either Damon or Bonnie looked at you, you could swear that there was guilt written in their gazes.
"Look I knew being stuck here with Kai must have fucked you up-" he should have bit his lip, his assumptions were anything but correct. And that was proven as you defensively darted out of your seat and jabbed your finger in his face, making him pivot his jaw back. There were many things that were 'fucked up', and supposing that you were one of them because you had died after sacrificing yourself to ensure that they all continued to live just didn't settle right with you. The context of the morbid situation did not help with condoning any reassurance at all, in fact, it gave a spine to your lack of faith in him and the others in the first place. Out of everyone, it was inherently worse to be here with Damon, all he had cared about was his precious Elena as well as himself, and after existing for well over a century, that was insurance that he was never going to change.
"It wasn't him who did that to me, it was roaming this damned place by myself, I had no one. And as crazy as it sounds, I think spending time with the notorious Malakai Parker helped me keep what was to spare of my sanity. If I'm not wrong, I may even say that I've found more being here than dealing with the bullshit y'all cause back home." Perhaps your words were a tad harsh, if Bonnie were in the room you were sure that she'd have a somewhat understanding of what you were saying. Though she was not, and thus you had to deal with the harshness of her best friend all by your lonesome. And it seemed that you had rattled him, apparently he couldn't handle the truth.
"Then why don't you run back to the sociopath? When we discovered that you were here, we found the pair of you attached to the hip anyways. And with him inside of you, I'd never seen you so darn happy, better here with him than tempting me to drink bleach from the way that you constantly complained when you were alive; I swear you were worse than Donovan." It was on your mind's own command for you to take a step back, and away from the toxin that Damon had so cruelly spat at you. Ans the way that he compared you to Matt made you angry; it was though he were ignoring that there were valid reasons for the blond to be the way that he was - after all, the monster before you had practically killed his sister. A laugh renegaded out from your mouth as you realised that you had been right all along, none of them cared. You were just a burden that stopped them from having a perfect life together. If this were a book, then this would be the beginning to your villain arc, and ironically enough Damon saw himself as one of the good guys. Now that was utterly ridiculous after every reckless thing that he had ever done!
"Have it your way then bloodsucker." All along, you should have trusted your guy, and from now on you knew that you would listen to it. And strangely enough, it was calling you to Kai, maybe it was because he was your last resort to escaping this imprisonment that had been meant for him alone. Turning on your heel, you heard Damon flop the towel down on the side and sigh, though you continued to walk, appeasing your better judgement elsewhere. "Wait." He tried to convince you to stay, belatedly understanding the mistake that he had made, but it was no use, you were already on your journey of getting as far away as possible from him.
The Mystic Grill, it remained to be familiar in your eyes as you entered. It was empty and void of drunken assholes and narcissists that you had wasted too much time on. The only person that you missed in the modern alternative was Matt Donovan, he was the only person that didn't treat you as though you were invisible or a nuisance. You wondered how he was coping with your absence, knowing him, he was probably relieved that Damon was gone. But you weren't, because he was here with you instead. Trailing your fingertips over the counter of the bar, out of the corner of your eye you saw a lonely glass of bourbon that was sat there as though it were lamenting you with mockery. You tried to hold your sentimental sob inside, but it was practically impossible. It tore through your body, bellowing out from your mouth as you stifled and fought through your tears.
A hand caressed the landscape of your back causing you to jump and flinch from the unexpected contact. One thing that you had learnt from evading and eventually experiencing the qualms of death, was that you could never be too careful. For no more than a second you had predicted that the intruder to your pity party was Damon, that he had followed you as you tried to distance yourself from him, but alas it was not, instead of being greeted by a fretless vampire, you were condemned by the sight of a powerless witch, of whom had purposely interjected your moment of cracked emotion and wore a brave smile for you. Wiping your eyes with the back of your sleeves, you couldn't help but snap at him. "If you're here to finish what we started then tough luck Parker, you've been here long enough and you have two hands, figure something else out."
His tongue darted out to swipe at his own bottom lip, as he raised his hand, showcasing his offering to you. "I was only going to see if you wanted a pork rind, you look like you could use one." Sighing, you dug your hand into the pungent packet that was littered with dust and crumbs, retrieving a few treats for yourself as you placed them in your mouth. "And now should be when the poison kicks in..." With your hand, you gave him a little shove as you tolled your eyes at his homicidal comedy. "Come on, that was funny! I'm funny!"
"If you say so, there's not very many people around to give you an honest opinion." It was true, the only other human like lifeforms impartially close by were Damon and Bonnie, and well, you weren't going to scurry back to them anytime soon. "And if you had poisoned me, then you would know that I would be fine and dandy in not so long, It wouldn't make a difference if that wasn't the case either, I mean I'm already dead, what could be worse than that?" Kai looked at you with shock; he didn't know that about you, that you had actually suffered a final breath. Now he thought about it, the grand scheme of things he didn't know much about you in general, though he was prepared to learn. He had often found death to be fulfilling, satisfying even, but he'd never thought about its victims being so beautiful. Yet here you were before him, by chance the one force that could motivate and help him find a way out of this jarring hole of reaping misery.
"You're here, that's all that matters." As soon as those words fled from his lips he realised exactly what he had said, and a blush framed his features. "I um - that wasn't what I - you know, yeah..." He scratched the back of his neck as you shook your head at this new side that you were seeing of Malakai. His parents called him Malakai, of course he was going to become a killer, but right now you saw nothing more than an embarrassed boy whose skin had flushed as an affect of his own words. From your experience, everyone was either the killer or the killed - you two were one of each. Like ying and yang, you fit perfectly, it was a balanced divide that was settled on whichever rhythm played out in the air. And to correspond with that thought you walked over to the jukebox, a song beginning to play which made Kai want to cover his ears. "I hate this song." He told you; he really did, if he could murder it, he would without a doubt.
"Then don't listen, just dance with me." You extended your hands out to him, to which he begrudgingly reached for. And as he snapped his eyes open, he realised that was all a memory, and that goddamn song was still playing. All he could think about was you, he had seen how upset you had been to die, and yet you were gone again, and it was all down to your so called friends. One was standing before him as he sat in chains, imprisoned against a chair. "Are you here to punish me?" He asked Bonnie, wanting nothing more than shut his eyes and see your face again.

It's gross that you ship Bonnie with a man who trapped her in hell, and almost pushed her to suicide. kai gets no credit for saving her from the prison he locked her up in the first place.
So this has been sitting in my inbox for a while because I can't believe it's 2021 and people still think it's OK to send hate on tumblr.
It's also very wrong.
Kai didn't trap Bonnie in the 1994 Prison World. Bonnie was sent there with Damon after the Other Side collapsed to keep her from dying or disintegrating with it. Kai actually gave Bonnie the solution to escaping from the Prison World and Bonnie decided to double cross him because she didn't think he deserved to escape.
Let's make this clear: Kai was willing to work with both of them to escape. Was willing to share his information, and the Ascendant, and work together. Even Damon was OK with this, because he realized this was the practical thing to do and when Damon is the one who's making the most sense in a situation, you know there's a problem.
Bonnie actually killed Kai without realizing he could resurrect.
Now after a lot of back and forth, she stabbed him, he stabbed her, she tricked him, he trapped her, they finally had their Thanksgiving dinner, and Kai shared his backstory with her, and tried one last time to convince her to work together with him to escape the prison world. Bonnie refused again. So he left her behind.
Repeat: Kai left Bonnie behind. He didn't trap her. He didn't lock her up in the Prison World. He just made his prison break on his own. She could have escaped with the Ascendant, her blood and magic only ---- oops, Bonnie sent her magic away. Kai didn't take her magic from her. Kai didn't steal her magic away. She sent it.
The only person who 'trapped' Bonnie in that prison world was her own choices.
Kai definitely deserves credit for saving her, especially as he did more to save her in one day than all her friends combined did in the months before then.
The fact that Bonnie blames Kai for 'abandoning' her speaks to her trauma because that's a distortion of what really happened. She wasn't abandoned by Kai but her friends, who went on with their lives - for the third time - and ignored her suffering. The first was when she was a ghost during their senior year summer. The second was when she was going to die as Anchor and nobody pushed her to find out what her plan was, just assuming that she was somehow going to manage to save herself. And now, for the third time, Bonnie was going through crap and her friends were nowhere in sight. Her anger at Kai was transference. What did Kai, a relative stranger whom she hated and believed hated her back, owe her? Absolutely nothing. That pain she was telling Damon - "the worst thing he did was to leave me all alone" - she wasn't talking about Kai, she was talking about Damon, Elena, Jeremy, Caroline.... all the people who left her alone after years of her being the one to save them.
Or it should have been about transference, about Bonnie's long-running trauma but the show doesn't care enough about Bonnie as a character to explore what that really meant. She locked Kai up in 1903, and all her problems were solved. The End.
You don't have to like Bonkai or Kai as a character, but your criticisms have to be honest, not made up nonsense.

So I disagree on Siena being a better choice for a triangle. The reason being, there is not one point on the show that the viewer doubts who Anthony truly loves - he very clearly wants Edwina because she is the diamond and because he doesn’t love her.
With Siena, we would have likely seen a struggle over his feelings for both which would have been hard to stomach. I don’t want there to be any doubt he loves Kate, and I think the show gave us that.
Now, I didn’t like the triangle - I think having Edwina be so blind, for so long, ruined her character and was unbelievable. They could have had her have feelings for Anthony but realise at Aubrey Hall that they didn’t match/he wasn’t into her - it still be angsty for Kate because she doesn’t want to hurt Edwina, and Anthony still can’t admit he wants love in a marriage, without making Edwina quite so dumb.
Look they were the ones who put the love triangle in the show. I would have been perfectly happy with an enemies to friends to lovers with a side of unnecessary jealousy.
And you just supported my point. Which was that, if Netflix was going to include a love triangle in the show, Sienna would have been the obvious choice for all the reasons above.
In the book Anthony only pretended to be pursuing Edwina to mess with Kate. Edwina was never under the impression that Anthony would make an offer for her in fact she could tell that if Anthony ever decided on marrying someone it would be Kate.
If Netflix is going to put a love triangle in Bridgerton DO IT RIGHT show Anthony actually struggling between two options he wants. For different reasons.
But part of the reasons I dislike love triangles between siblings is that the 3rd person always comes off as twice as much of a shallow jerk because it's obvious they only like one and are stringing the other along
For a textbook example See: Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore Brothers
And Edwina wasn't dumb she was naive which can happen to the best of us. But to think neither Mary, or Daphne or Lady Danbury or anybody around her thought to tell her that the guy she was crushing on looked like he wanted to sleep with her sister. Is just as unrealistic as that wedding.
Also wtf Netflix I don't know about you guys but the moment one of my siblings touches something I automatically want nothing to do with it. The thought of my kisses being anywhere near where my sister has been is enough to make me go eww. How is that not a big turn off for Kate??? I mean Anthony could be the most attractive man in the world but the thought of doing anything with someone who has thought about doing it with my sister is an instant mood killer.
Which brings us to my point that the love triangle was unnecessary. And Anthony could have been shown to struggle between duty and love without destroying a perfectly good sisterhood bond.
All people out there blaming Kate but to me she didn't do anything wrong. She was supportive of Edwina. She had to LIVE with Edwina, her efforts were the best she could do.
At any point in the story Anthony could have chosen to stop courting Edwina and if he so much wanted to marry a woman he didn't love, just pick anyone else.
Heck pick Penelope to rub it in Colin's face, how's that for a love triangle where two of the angles don't love each other ?
But he didn't. He intentionally chose to keep courting the sister of the woman he wanted to bang since he met her. But everyone and the audience makes Kate the one with the responsibility of staying away. What's next Netflix? Telling Kate to wear a longer skirt because she's tempting Anthony too much with her ankles? What about telling Anthony to stop staring in the first place
With Sienna we could have had a love triangle that wasn't so frustrating. And still show Anthony struggle. Even better give him scenes to show character development
And the whole ' you're the diamond I'm the viscount' speech sounded so highschool like that kid who says ' you're the head cheerleader I'm the quarterback let's date' I'm sorry what Anthony? Learn to have more tact my man
All I know is that I'm looking forward to the amount of fanfics this season will inspire. Because the writers of Tumblr are way more talented than anyone
And that's the tea

So Elena of Avalor just ended today with a glorious last episode and I just want to say a couple of things to the team who worked on it.
Thank you so much for making this wonderful show. Growing up, I never had a princess who was like me. But with this show, you gave me that. And you didn't just give us Latin Americans any average princess eathier.
You gave us a princess who was strong, wise, and willing to fight for what she believed in and what was right. Someone who had people very close to her taken away and left with barely anybody. Someone who cared for her family, and her friends who became family.
Someone who never gave up, never let her people down, someone who was willing to give her life for her people. And someone who was willing enough to lead.
I learned a lot from Elena Castillo Flores. I leaned how to be a leader, how to be strong, even when you don't feel strong. She taught me to fight for what was right and what I believe in until something is done about it. She taught me even the little things matter, and it's the little things that prepare for the big ones.
Elena helped me realize how much family and friends mean to me, and that even when they don't let you do something, they mean well. She taught me that sometimes rejection can be God's protection.
She loved her family and friends with all her heart. And whenever she didn't listen to them, she always ment well. She never tried to do anything to hurt them. She was usually silly, fun, and playful, but when things got serious, she got serious, and knew how to control that.
Elena not only saved her kingdom multiple times, but cared for each and every one of her people. Her council was always there to support her, and so was she with them.
She stood for feminism, justice, and Equality, never letting anyone get in her way. She didn't care what people thought of her, she didn't care what people said, and she didn't take crap from anyone. She would never back down and cower away when things got too tough, if anything, she stood taller when it got harder.
She worked day and night to make sure everyone and everything was safe, sometimes even forgetting about herself, and working herself too hard. But in the end, she always came through. And that's what I love about Elena.
She wasn't one of those stuck up, manufactured to be just like every other of her kind, princess who claimed she was "Too pretty to go to war," or "Too weak, and helpless," never destined to be swept of her feet and marry someone she didn't love, just so they could controll her and use her for kids who would eventually rule after her and so on.
One of the many things I loved about this show is that they never mentioned that, not once. They never told her, "Don't you think it's about time to find a husband/king?" They never told her to pick a suitor because we'll, there were none. And they always told her that she was to become queen, and that's it. No, "King," no "Husband," just queen.
She's an "Independent woman with fists like hammers!" Like Princess Star Butterfly would say (she's awsome too btw)
She didn't need anyone to do her work for her eathier, all she needed was a little help once and a while, that's all.
And the feminism.
Let's just talk about the feminism she represented in this show.
In one episode, she went to a royal retreat with some leaders from some of the other countries that were in a club or something, so she went to represent Avalor.
And to no surprise, they were all kings.
But one king in particular was a huge jerk.
This man treated her like trash. He didn't even have a seat for her when they came, so they gave her a tiny chair that only made her eyes visible when she sat. He would reject all her ideas before even listening to them and didn't let her talk most of the time. He was really mean to her, and full of himself.
But since he was so demanding, and had given them all giant ships, also very easily tempered, all the other kings didn't do anything about it.
So a few more scenes later, Elena ended up saving some creatures (unless I'm mixing it up with another episode) and left because she decided she didn't deserve to be treated the way she was. (She didn't)
When she got back to her family, they asked her why she left and didn't join their club, (I think they called themselves the something kings I don't know I can't remember) and she replied, "I don't need to be apart of their club, besides, I won't be a king, I'll be a queen."
So that was a very feminist moment that I loved.
And then in season three one of her handmadians, Antonia, wanted to become a guard. And Gabe was running low on guards so he held tryouts. Elena realized there were no female guards, so she went up to Gabe and shouted, "Antonia wants to try out so you better let her because girls can do whatever they want and just because we don't have any female guards doesn't mean we can't have one," and Gabe was just there like, "I was already gonna let her try out don't hurt me." And Elena just said, "Oh."
But the fact that she was willing to get in a fight so Antonia could be the first female guard just made me so proud of her.
This show ment the world to me, and I'm so sad to see it go, but It had a really awsome run and they gave us something to look forward to because even though you know everything is going to be okay in the end cause it's Disney, this show really made me stop at times and question myself if it was actually going to be alright or not. And that's honestly how it should be.
They didn't rush it, the episodes were beautiful and wholesome, and great for all ages and the whole family.
So I just wanted to thank you, because without this show, I wouldn't be the young woman I am today.
Thank you for giving all of us Latin Americans a chance and representing our culture so others can learn. Thank you for not changing it and making it more "Interesting," or, "With the times." Because that really ment a lot to me.
I have so many other things to say, but if I continue, this post will last forever, so without further ado,
I love you Elena. Thank you Craig Gerber, team Avalor, and everyone else who worked on this show, including Disney, and Elena herself for making this masterpiece of a show happen.
Muchos Gracias, y despedida Reina Elena de Avalor.

EOA Ship Appreciation Week Day 5: Meeting/Farewell
Tumblr media
a/n: hi guys! thank you all so much for the positive feedback on my day 4 poem, i’m so glad everyone liked it!! as i said, i know every ship wasn’t included, i ended up having enough time to only do the ones that were requested! but, i’d definitely consider making a part 2, so if your ship wasn’t included this time, it may be another time..
anyways, on to day 5! you may notice i included both prompts here instead of just one..you’ll find out why ;) this story is inspired by an au @procrastinateland (s/o for the beautiful art once again!!!) i came up with together, based on the sound of music! but, this fic in particular doesn’t have much to do with the musical you probably know. my obsession besides elena this summer was researching the lives of the real von trapps who inspired the movie and musical, and through it, i found the adorable love story of the parents of the seven children (georg and agathe, maria wasn’t in the picture yet!) that i knew would be so sweet for gabelena. so that’s what this fic is inspired by! quick historical note, the events that this fic portrays happened in real life in 1910 and 1922, but the years have been switched to 1912 and 1930 for the au, since we decided to place our au closer to the movie’s timeline than the real story. also hi please talk to me about the von trapps i’ve been driving my gf crazy with my useless knowledge lmaooo
and that’s about it! hope you all enjoy this, and let me know what you think!
fic is below the cut!
February 10th, 1912
Lieutenant Gabriel Núñez was amazed as he entered the venue of tonight's celebratory ball, Villa Castillo. He had never been inside a home so grand before, he almost felt as if he didn't deserve to be there. But, regardless, he was invited to attend, along with all of his friends from the navy. He couldn't wait to get away from the structure and seriousness of the military for a night, and to just have fun.
This was the first ball Gabe had been invited to since he became a lieutenant, or ever for that matter, and he was loving it. It was hosted by the Castillo Flores family, a rich family whose inventions had earned them quite the fortune over the past century. As more guests began to make their arrivals, Gabe and his friends hung around together, mingling with other guests or testing out a drink or two. Then, the ball was to officially begin with a musical performance by the hosts.
Now, Gabe wasn't much of a believer of love at first sight, but with one glance, his mind was instantly changed. Standing beside her mother and grandparents, ready to perform their opening song, stood the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, and Gabe knew he was in love. Sure, he knew he had no chance with her, as he was just a lieutenant from a humble family of bakers. She was the daughter of a rich family, and most likely the heir to their fortunes. But, there was no harm in trying, right? He knew that at some point tonight, he just had to talk to this beautiful girl.
Elena Castillo Flores, however, was different. She wholeheartedly believed in chance of falling in love at first sight, but she never thought it would happen to her. She had grown up around these balls, her family had been hosting them for as long as she could remember. And being 17, she had met plenty of men who hoped to marry into her family's fortune, but none of them seemed quite right. That was, until she was about to perform with her family.
She looked out into the crowd, and caught the eye of a handsome naval officer. She smiled softly in his direction, but didn't have time to do anything else, before she picked up her guitar, and began to perform alongside her mother and grandparents.
Gabe couldn't help but keep his eye on this girl the entire time she performed. She was a beautiful singer and guitarist, and Gabe loved hearing every word she sang, and each note she strummed. Before he could snap out of his romantic trance, the performance had ended. Gabe looked up to the stage to see if he could approach the girl, but she her family had left the stage, and were out of sight. So, it was back to just talking with his friends for now. Maybe a good laugh or two could keep his mind off of this girl. In between their backgrounds and the chances that she would choose him out of many much more qualified suitors, Gabe had a feeling this crush was bound to end in disappointment.
Eventually, Gabe stepped away to go and get his mind off things, but as he was walking, he accidentally bumped into someone. He was about to apologize, but when the person he had bumped into turned to look at him, he realized who he had bumped into: the host's daughter.
Finding his voice again, he said, "I-I'm so sorry for bumping into you, I should have been watching where I was going."
Every once in a while, as she sang and played her guitar, Elena would look out at the man she had seen earlier. He was quite handsome, and she couldn't help but notice the way he smiled at her. But, once the performance was over, she wasn't going to go looking for him. She knew it'd probably be hard to find him in such a big group. Besides, he was probably going to turn out to be like any other man she'd met, and would only take interest in the prospect of inheriting her family's money. So, she carried on with her night, accepting that she'd probably never see him again. That was, until someone bumped into her. When she looked at the person she bumped into, she couldn't help but freeze, it was the lieutenant she had seen earlier. He was the one to speak first, which snapped her back into reality.
“Oh no, no, it's okay! You're fine!" she assured him.
"Oh, alright" Gabe said. He mentally hit himself for not saying more than he did, but whenever he looked at her, he was at a loss for words. He could at least introduce himself, he thought, but every time he did, the words would be at the edge of his tongue, and he'd end up saying nothing. But, he was determined not to blow the only chance he'd ever have with her, so, he gathered up his courage to speak to her once again.
Elena too, would be so, so close to saying something, even just introducing herself, but before the words could come out, she'd freeze. She so desperately wanted to get to know him better, and she knew the only way to do so was to just say something. But, luckily for her, he said something first.
"This has been a wonderful ball so far." Gabe finally said.
"Oh, well, thank you.." Elena replied with a smile. "I'm glad you're enjoying it so far."
"I am" Gabe said, returning the smile. Finally, he decided, he was actually going to introduce himself. "I'm Lieutenant Gabriel Núñez," he said. "but you can call me Gabe."
Elena quietly sighed with relief, she was glad he introduced himself first, it gave her the confidence to do the same. "I'm Elena Castillo Flores," she introduced. "but you can just call me Elena."
"It's very nice to meet you, miss Elena," Gabe replied, with a bow of his head to her.
"It's very nice to meet you too, lieutenant," Elena responded. "Oh, I mean Gabe, it's nice to meet you too, Gabe." she added, and shook her head at herself. Hopefully she didn't blow her chance with him right then and there.
Gabe smiled and laughed softly, he couldn't help but fall deeper in love with the girl the longer he talked to her. He had managed to find her, talk to her, and introduce himself, but there was one more step with her he wanted to take.
"I hope this isn't too soon, but would you like to dance?" he asked.
Elena's face now lit up with a smile, it most certainly wasn't too soon, she was so excited he asked her to dance with him! She nodded, and held out her hand to him. "I would love to dance," she said.
Gabe took her hand with a smile, and lead her to the center of the ballroom. With one of his hands tightly in the grasp of hers, his other hand wrapped around her waist, the two began their first dance.
As the pair glided effortlessly across the floor, Elena still couldn't believe that this was happening. How did she ever get so lucky? But, she also knew that there was a possibility that he might have happened to only attend this ball, and she may never see him again. She truly hoped this wasn't the case, she wanted to get to know him better and spend more time with him, because she knew for a fact she was falling in love.
Gabe could barely believe this was happening either. This beautiful girl had really said agreed to dance with him, and now they were actually dancing? Gabe truly hoped that he wasn't dreaming, for he never wanted to wake up. He wanted this dance to last forever, so he would never have to say goodbye to Elena, and go back to living his life without her in it. There was hardly a chance he would see her again after the ball ended, but he kept a glimmer of hope that tonight was not their final encounter.
Elena wasn't paying attention to anything else around her, for all that mattered to her now was that she was actually dancing with Gabe! She planned to dance with him for the entire night, if it meant she'd be able to spend as much time as possible with him. She knew that once the ball ended, there was a high possibility of her never seeing him again. So, she was going to make sure to spend as much time with him as she possibly could, while she had the opportunity.
After a couple of hours of guests talking, eating, drinking, and dancing the night away, the ballroom began to empty out a bit. Elena brought Gabe outside to a balcony, so she'd be able to talk with him and get to know him better without any sort of distraction.
"So, being a lieutenant, I'm assuming you're in the military, the... navy, correct?" she asked him, to start some conversation.
"Yes," Gabe answered. "I joined as soon as I was able, I've always wanted to be a part of the navy. My parents, especially my father, aren't too happy I chose this path instead of joining their baking business, but this is what I really wanted to do."
"Oh, your parents have a baking business?" Elena asked him. "Not too much of a baker, are you?" she joked.
"No," Gabe replied. "and I'm not much of an olaball player either, to the dismay of my father."
"It certainly seems as if your father isn't too thrilled with your life choices... but do you love what you do?" Elena asked.
"Yes, I do." Gabe responded with a smile. "Besides, if I hadn't made the decision to go against his wishes and join the navy, I probably wouldn't be talking to you right now."
Elena smiled as she felt her cheeks warm up at his sweet response. She was so, so glad that Gabe decided to follow his own path in life instead of listening to his father, because if he didn't, they may have never met.
"Well, I guess you're right," she said. "and I'm glad that you're doing something that you love, that's what should really matter."
Gabe nodded in agreement. "What's your family like?" he asked.
"Well, there's me, my mother, my younger sister, my grandparents," Elena answered. "we're all pretty close, and we love to make music together."
"I can tell, you and your family sounded amazing tonight," Gabe said. "and not to be biased, but I think I liked your singing the most."
Elena smiled, and put a hand to her cheek, she was definitely blushing now. "Thank you," she said. "but I wouldn't say I'm the best of them, they're all very talented.."
"I would," Gabe responded, and reached down to take her hand in his own.
"Well, thank you.." Elena replied, holding Gabe's hand tightly back. "and I may be biased, but I'd say you're my favorite lieutenant, because I totally know all the others." she said.
Elena laughed nervously for a moment after that attempt at flirting. 'what was that, Elena?' she asked herself.
"Thank you," Gabe said with a smile.
"You're welcome," Elena responded, a similar smile never leaving her face.
"So, what do you like to do other than make music?" Gabe asked her.
"I love just getting out with my family most times, of course. We'll go on hikes, go sailing, go to one of our vacation homes or visit someone else in our family's home, we're always somewhere or doing something." Elena told him. "How about you?" she asked.
"I like fencing," Gabe replied. "We sometimes have competitions between my friends and I, and not to brag, but I usually win."
"I'm sure you do," Elena responded, definitely believing him. "and I'd love to learn to fence sometime, it actually looks pretty fun!"
"Well, I'd be happy to teach you," Gabe offered. "I'm sure it'd be considered "unladylike," but if it was just us, it wouldn't really matter."
"What my mother and grandparents don't know won't kill them," Elena replied with a wink. "I'd love for you to teach me sometime!"
"I'd be more than happy to teach you," Gabe responded.
"And hopefully you can sometime," Elena said, before sighing as she remembered the reason why she was so hesitant to find him in the first place. The chances of the two reuniting were slim to none. "I hope we see each other again..."
"Me too..." Gabe replied, looking down with a sigh as well. "Maybe we could write to each other? To keep in contact?" he suggested.
"I'd love that." Elena said, smiling once again at the thought of it. "We definitely should."
Gabe smiled. "Alright," he said. "I'll give you my address."
"And I'll give you mine as well, which is right here, but I'll still write it down so you'll always have it" Elena said.
"Thank you," Gabe replied. "I look forward to writing to you, and seeing you again, Miss Elena."
"And I look forward to writing and seeing you again as well, Lieutenant Núñez." Elena responded with a smile.
Gabe laughed a bit and rolled his eyes, but still smiled. "Please, you can just call me Gabe," he said.
"And you can just call me Elena," Elena insisted. "No 'miss' necessary"
"Alright then, Elena it is." Gabe said, smiling over at her.
"And Gabe it is." Elena replied, sharing the same, loving smile.
At that moment, the both of them knew that they had met the love of their life. Though they'd have a difficult road ahead, in between having to communicate with letters for a while or with Gabe often traveling with the navy, they were determined to make it work. Gabe was not going to let his beautiful Elena go, and Elena knew that tonight she had met the man she was going to marry. They were going to spend the rest of their lives together, no matter what.
September 3rd, 1930
On Christmas night of 1929, Gabe and Elena's oldest daughter began to feel unwell. It was simply strep throat, they were told, she should recover in a matter of days. But, by the time eleven year old Catalina had recovered, five of her seven siblings had fallen ill as well. The sudden illness turned out not to be a simple case of strep throat, but the highly contagious scarlet fever, which was currently spreading through the city.
Of course, Elena was always there to care for her children, even if she was risking contracting the illness herself. For the next few weeks, she was constantly visiting her children and checking in on them, while still trying to stay healthy herself. But, when her youngest daughter, Martina, who wasn't even a year old yet, came down with a severe case, Elena had no choice but to step in and care for her, twenty four-seven.
By the end of January, Elena's caring and motherly nature had led her to catching scarlet fever herself. In children, the illness tended to be fairly mild, but in adults, it could often leave behind serious side effects. Gabe knew this, and insisted that his wife take the time to rest in order to recover. But, Elena insisted that her children came first, wanting to be there for each and every one of them as they recovered.
But, even when all seven children were happy and healthy once again, Elena's symptoms had not subsided. Now, she could rest and recover with a sound mind, knowing that her children would be alright without her for a couple of days. Those couple of days turned into weeks, those weeks into months, and by the end of August, Elena still had a long road to recovery. She was now bound to a wheelchair, she would have to learn to walk all over again due to the toll the illness had taken on her body. She still tried to spend as much time as possible with her children, and be the happy, loving, and healthy mamí they had always known. But, deep down, she knew if scarlet fever had already taken so much from her, it could continue to do so.
Over the next week, Elena's condition quickly deteriorated, and it seemed as if only a miracle could heal her. Gabe had visited his wife each and every day for the duration of her sickness, but for the past day or two, he hadn't left her side at all. He knew that at any time, her condition could take a turn for the absolute worst, and he didn't want to take the chance of not having a chance to say goodbye. While Gabe tried his best to stay somewhat positive, and hope that his wife would miraculously recover, he knew Elena's time left was short.
Gabe's eyes were heavy as he sat at his wife's bedside, having stayed awake the entire night with her. He held Elena's hand tightly in his, even though Elena barely had the strength left to hold his. It broke his heart to see his wife in this condition, he would do absolutely anything to bring back the bright light of his life that was Elena.
Gabe's heart would sink as he noticed his wife's breathing become labored. He had been mentally preparing himself for the worst, just in case, but he knew that no matter how much he had prepared, he would never be ready if that moment arrived. He felt the slightest bit of relief when he noticed Elena slowly turn her head to look over at him, using all of her strength to do so.
"Elena.." he began to say, even saying her name brought tears to his eyes. But before he could say anything else, his wife managed to speak up.
"Gabe.." she said, her voice in a whisper. "Please..tell our children how much I love them.."
"Elena, no..no, don't talk like that.." Gabe said to her. Though he was trying to preserve his wife's positivity, he was also in denial about all this.
"Tell each and every one of them..each and every day..how much I love them.." Elena said. "And that I'll always be with them.."
Gabe held Elena's hand tight as he fought to hold back his tears, but even then, a tear or two would manage to fall down his cheek. He looked over at his wife, he still thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world, even with a scarlet red rash covering her cheeks, and her hair sticking to her fevered forehead. If it were possible, he would do anything to end all of her pain and suffering, but he knew that at this point, there was only one option for that.
Trying to clear his mind of these thoughts, Gabe nodded. "Of course I will.. I promise.." he said.
Elena smiled as best as she could, but to Gabe, it was the brightest smile he had seen out of her in a while. "Thank you.." she said. "A-and I love you..so, so much.."
"I love you too.." Gabe replied, and leaned down to kiss his wife. Thankfully, Elena was no longer contagious, but even if she was, Gabe would take that chance if it meant kissing his beloved Elena one last time.
Then, it looked as if Elena were about to speak, but she was unable to get any word out. Finally, a moment later, she managed to say, "And.."
Gabe patiently waited as his wife struggled to say a second word. He would wait for as long as it took her, he'd take any opportunity to hear the voice he loved so much.
"I'm..a-always.." Elena said, now needing to take multiple labored breaths between each word. Though it was a struggle, Elena managed to complete her sentence.
"I'm always with you.."
A moment later, after months and months of fighting to recover, Elena's body gave in, and her eyes slowly closed.
Gabe could feel his wife's grip on his hand loosen, and his heart immediately dropped. This couldn't be happening. He couldn't lose her.
"Elena? Elena! Elena, no! Mi amor, please!" Gabe desperately cried, hoping that his wife's beautiful brown eyes would open again. But no matter how many times he called her name, they remained peacefully closed, as her body grew paler.
Now, Gabe's denial began to truly set in. He lightly shook her, he held her hand tight, he kissed her forehead, her cheeks, her lips, all in an effort to wake her, even though deep down, he knew that his efforts were in vain. Finally, it all became too much for him, and Gabe just broke down. he couldn't picture his life without Elena, he never thought everything would end this way.
He thought of his wife, she had so much more to live for. she was a loving wife, a caring mother, his best friend. Then he pictured their seven children, who would now be growing up without their mother. He thought of their identical twins, though they were already quite different, they shared a similarity, devotion to their family. Catalina and Carolina absolutely adored their mother, and looked up to her, along with being her best friends. He thought of Luis, their oldest son, he was a mamí's boy. He loved cuddling up with his mother and listen to her play guitar, he wanted to learn from her one day. He thought of their youngest son, Marcelo, their bundle of energy, who sometimes even Elena couldn't keep up with. He thought of Luciana and Adelina, aged only five and two, who would be too little to understand why their mamí had suddenly disappeared. And finally, he thought of Martina, their baby girl who would grow up without a mother. She would never get know her mamí, or even remember her. In fact, he didn't know if any of their younger children would be able to remember their mother.
Gabe found himself growing a bit dizzy, since this all seemed like he was living a nightmare. His hands shook as he held Elena's tightly in his own, and his vision was blurred from his tears.
As his final moments with Elena played over and over in his head, he was reminded of his wife's dying wish. To remind each and every one of their children each and every day how much their mamí loves them. If Elena could see him now, she'd hate to see him this distraught. She'd encourage him to keep his head up and stay strong, but how could he ever move on in life without his Elena? His children. He knew he needed to stay strong and carry on for them. Though, of course, carrying on could take weeks, months, or even years, Elena would want him to be happy. But most of all, she'd want her children to be happy and loved as well.
So, then and there, Gabe dedicated himself to fulfilling Elena's wish. For the rest of his life, he would make sure his children are happy, healthy, and loved, just as Elena would do. Though it would be difficult to carry on without her, the Núñez Castillos still had each other, and that's what matters most.

Of kidnappers, boyfriends & a bit of fire
Damon Salvatore x reader
Tumblr media
"Where the hell is Stefan?"
You heard Damon -your boyfriend- cursing next to you.
Like that was his biggest problem in this situation.
Well, it WOULD be easier if Stefan were here but he's currently searching for his girlfriend miss Elena Gilbert who happened to be kidnapped again by some wannabe Vampires craving for her doppelgänger blood.
And now it was just Damon and you in this creepy house in the middle of nowhere. Well, plus a few uninvited others...
"There are like seven vampires trying to kill us right now, Damon, what should we do?" You mumbled under your breath even though you knew that everyone could hear you clearly.
"Actually, it's more like eleven," Damon commented not showing the tiniest bit of concern.
"Oh, sorry I wasn't specific enough!"
"You're forgiven," he simply said and pushed you softly behind him so you were now standing back to back surrounded by creatures who looked like they couldn't wait to rip you apart.
"And about your question-hey!"
Damon gave you an scandalised gaze as you interrupted him just so rudely mid his sentence by punching one Vampire straight in the face.
"Attack is the best defence, darling."
You commented with a small laugh, but immediately went back to seriousness when your opponent tried to stab you with a knife.
Damn it!
Now they were all attacking at once.
'Show time, baby' you thought cracking your knuckles.
"Really? And who told you so?" Asked Damon from behind you, obviously implying on the multiple times he used this sentence during on of your training sessions.
"My Grandmother, a lovely person, really."
For a second you saw him rolling his eyes in annoyance before you bend down to avoid a punch of a vampire who clearly seemed too young to be stuck in this mess.
You had been fighting back to back all this time, defending or just mocking each other but now it seemed like you were forced to yield in a room across this one.
Now it was you alone, having three vampires simultaneously to watch out for.
Great. Just great.
Suddenly you gasped as you felt a heavy pain in your back which caused you to stumble a few steps forward.
Bastards!
Right into the arms of... Jack? Was this the name of the creep?
"Not that tough without your boyfriend, are you, honey?" he whispered in your ear.
His awful breath made you nearly throw up.
Never heard of tooth care?
"Who are you serving, you morons?" You asked through gritted teeth.
"Who are we... who are we serving?"
Jack repeated obviously very amused by your question and even the other two next to him joined him with dirty laughs.
"Honey, you know what that dumb girl is capable of? Or rather her blood? We are serving no one but ourselves and soon we will rise up to the top."
"Sadly you won't be alive until then," added the other one and polished his knife with joyful anticipation.
You rolled your eyes in annoyance.
Please, world domination was such a cliché.
"Yes, very sad," you commented just before you swung your left knee right into Jack's soft parts causing him to bend over in pain.
You used his state to break his neck, then turned around to the other two.
"So, who's next?"
A few minutes went by until Stefan appeared at the door frame finding you completely covered in blood and surrounded by three dead Vampires.
"You are late," You stated and stepped over Jack's life less body.
Stefan looked alerted into the room as if he expected more vampires to appear any second out of nothing. Then he answered a little distracted, "I've got Elena."
Wonderful, finally we could leave this god damn house and go home.
"Great and where is she?"
"Right here- damn it!" He cursed when he noticed that there was, in fact, no Elena standing beside him anymore.
"You're kidding right?"
Well, obviously he wasn't, you thought when Stefan turned around with widened eyes, searching once again for his beloved one.
"Elena?!"
Sighting in frustration you decided to follow him out of the room into the hallway.
Already standing there Damon gave you a relieved smile when he saw that you were unharmed.
"Hey, there," he stated and put his arm around your shoulder.
"Hi.." you whispered before both of you suddenly stopped in your motions.
"Careful." On the other side of the hallways was Elena, unfortunately also a man who held a knife at her throat.
"One wrong move and she's dead," he threatened. The pure madness in his eyes made him appear like he was barely getting by.
Poor guy.
Stefan made a few slow steps forward, carefully lifting his hands in a sign of piece.
"Please give us the girl and we will spare your life. You will be free to go."
"Oh, Common that's bullshit!" Damon exclaimed clearly annoyed and pissed right now.
In one quick move he broke the wooden clothes rack next to him in two halfs and before you could even registered his toss it was already sticking in the man's shoulder -very, very close to Elena's face.
"Damon!" Stefan shouted angrily apparently not too found of his move.
But neither Damon nor you paid him attention, instead you used the opportunity of the man's distraction to grab the other half of the clothes rack and stick it right into the vampire's heart.
His whole body was turning grey in the next moment and veins appeared visible on his skin before the vampire fell on the ground with widened eyes and a open mouth- his last shout of pain never appeared.
Dead.
Stefan ran to Elena and pulled her into a safe embrace. "Are you okay?"
The girl nodded while starting a little uncomfortable at the dead vampire on the ground before her gaze met Damon and you.
"Thanks ...for the rescue," Elena mumbled a little shaken.
"We should go now."
You turned to Damon giving him a proud high five and an nod of approval only to notice that Stefan and Elena were already gone.
Or rather already sitting in the car as you saw when you also appeared at the door.
"I'll drive Elena home," Stefan shouted out of the open car window.
"But I'll come again to help cleaning up."
"Yeah, sure you will", murmured Damon next to you clearly not believing a word his brother had said.
"Oh and in the other side of the house was a car if I've seen right. You could use it later to drive home," added blondie just before closing the door and starting the motor.
Damon snorted. "Told so, that jerk is not coming back."
He went inside again while you watched the car vanishing in between the trees, a litte jealous of Elena because she could go home, to a bad waiting for her.
Gosh, it was two in the morning! Why do kidnappers always have to come that late?
When you turned around you saw Damon pouring gasoline out of a a container on the furniture and the ground.
Sceptically you raised your eyebrow. "You want to burn the house down?"
"Fastest way to get rid of everything, eh?" He answered before tossing the empty container inside again. "Do you have fire for me?"
"No...," you answered slowly. "But I'm sure you have."
Damon stopped a moment, apparently the lack of sleep was also effecting him.
"Right...come on, let's go out of here."
He took your hand leading you a through the door before he threw a fire lighter out of his pocket on the floor.
Immediately a trace of fire started to make its way through the hallways catching everything that stood in the way.
In a few seconds the whole house will be completely on fire and when the police arrives they will only find remains.
Damon closed the door.
Then with a smirk he put his hand on your waist while you took yours on his shoulder, playing with his dark hair.
"What are we going to do now, completely alone?"
"Well," he started giving you his typical Damon face. "On the ride over here I've noticed this beautiful lake; We could wash our blood and all of the dirt away..."
You hummed, pretending to be deep in thoughts. "Sounds tempting."
You grinned when Damon bend his head down pulling you into a kiss.
-Until he suddenly picked you up in bride style giving you a devilish smirk. "Let's see where this certain lake is, shall we?"

Niklaus, or better known as Klaus to his family and friends, just taken a cab to take him to the Mikaelson residence.
He still wasn't sure if he made the right decision to return home after so many years abroad, where he had built a very good reputation and established himself as a prominent young architect making his firm The Wolf Group, as they called themselves, one of the very best. He left it to be run by his partner, Marcel Gerard.
It was one morning after he spoke to Miguel that he made the abrupt decision to take a sabatical year and spend time with the family. Actually, to be precise, with his siblings, as his relationship with his parents was not a good one.
***
Meanwhile
In Rebekah's office, she was looking at the photographs that were to go in the next issue.
"Get me Damon" she said to her assistant Vicki.
"Anything else?" Vicki asked.
"No. I'll be working till late, so you can go. Thanks" Rebekah said.
The eldest of them was Finn, who tragically died in a car crash, at the age 20. Niklaus was their second child. He was three years old when they adopted Miguel.
Rebekah chose to work hard to prove to her father that she can get the fashion magazine up and running and make a huge success of it when she took over. So, at work she was known as the shrew, some of her co-workers would refer to her as a blood-sucker at times. The Mikaelson family was regarded as the most ambitious when business was concerned. Their parents taught their children to be excellent, to strive to excel. To be the best. And they made them proud.
After, Kol, Rebekah and finally Henrik followed.
Miguel fell in love and chose to go to live in San Diego to work after he married. And as his wife died, instead of returning to New York, he chose to go to Mexico City. As for Klaus, after finishing his studies decided to travel the world, finally settling in Europe starting to work as an architect in a small firm.
The Mikaelsons were a big family.
But lately, work was all she had on her mind.
Damon got to her office in a little while, and as he entered the first thing she said was-
"We are professionals and personal stuff should never affect the work-still- I am going to say this, because Elena is my friend and I love her dearly - you're an asshole! If you weren't so damned good at what you do I would kick you to the curb."
"That's not bad. I kind of thought you would dagger me!" Damon said.
"Let's get to work. Look at those", she now showed what she didn't like about those photos and asked for a new photo session with the next month's cover person.
***
Elsewhere
Bonnie and Caroline met Elena for some good old retail therapy. The best remedy when trying to kinda mend a broken heart. A change in style, hair was Caroline's suggestion. Also, they all had already received an electronic invitation to the Mikaelson cocktail night. And they need great dresses for the occasion.
Elena kept quiet about her unusual meeting in the cafe.
*
In the Upper East Side, Miguel met his son at his new school. Cris as he and all his family and friends called him didn't want to go to a private school, and so Miguel enrolled him in the public school recommended by Rebekah.
Cristobal, looked a lot like his mother, very savvy, goodhearted teenager, who knew exactly what he wanted in his life. He was very close his father. The death of Emily, cut them both and glued them even more together. Sometimes Cristobal took more care of his father, than the other way around. Mostly because Miguel was very dedicated to his work.
There were certain things he still needed to do regarding the transfer, and he now dealt with all that.
"There something different about you dad" he said to him when they got out of the school.
"In what way?" Miguel looked surprised at his son.
"I don't know.  But- different! You have a happy face."
"I have a happy face?"
"Yes. Usually it's - just serious." Cristobal said as he opened the car door.
Miguel looked at the watch and he had promised their housekeeper Senora Vega that they would be on time for the evening dinner. "Come on, we are late."
And there was a certain truth, he felt different. The woman Elena that he had met in the cafe was not getting out of his head. He had not felt a tingle in his heart for a woman for a very long time.
***
Greenich Village
Elena returned home later that evening and looked at the dress she chose for the cocktail party. Then at her new hairstyle, running her hands through them, inhaling deeply.
"Stop it!" she said to herself in the mirror, "stop thinking about him. Don't need anyone right now. Good-he looked so good in the three-piece suit- too good. "I am going crazy- what's wrong with me?!"
This man was not even her type. She prefered guys in jeans, with a badboy vibe about them. 'Mike' was completely the opposite. What was happening to her. Rebound thoughts. Totally crazy. Sliding the dress safely into the small closet, she went to the living room and put one of her mix playlists on.
Taking her laptop, she made hetself comfortable on the sofa. It was time to do some work. Lena's Cookie website needed updating. Browsing through the photos of her recent cookie creations made her stumble on a few she had done for her friend Yemaya's birthday. Though she was from Brasil, she was very much into mexican art and so she had requested mexican sugar cookies for her birthday fiesta.
Tumblr media
Thinking of 'Mike', she looked up a recipe from her notes.
Me enamoré de ti, jamás lo imaginaba
Que algun día yo, de amor iba a vivir
***
A couple of blocks away
"Move in with me" he blurted out inbetween kisses and half way to bed disregarding supper.
"Enough of work." Bonnie said closing Kol's laptop nestling comfortably on his lap, pulling him into a kiss.
Kol finished writing the draft of his last research paper.  Bonnie sneaked up on at him with a trey of food and wine.
"Who is joking? Move in with me. I'm serious. I want you here - all the time. It's crazy paying for two apartments, sleeping ovet here- there."
"Ok," Bonnie said,"yeah, let's be practical"
"This is not about being practical," Kol drew his fingers up her cheeks, looking at her dreamily, "I really want you here with me all the time."
"When you look at me that way, I could never say no."
"You drive me crazy" Kol smiled, "At times I can't believe you are real - and you are with me"
"Shut up and kiss me" Bonnie pressed her forfinger on his lips.
She was a person so very open hearted, giving and so loving. He met her accidently, so he thought, as he waited for Rebekah to meet him for lunch at the bar. He didn't know that the Rebekah and the others set Bonnie and he up on a blind date. He complained to Rebekah that he had no luck in the love department and that he had enough of dates that led to nowhere.
He kissed her, and he took that as a 'yes'.

Stefan met his fellow journalist Yemaya for a last minute check before he gave in his article for print.
"Stop joking"
"Want to grab a drink?" he asked casually.
"Just one!" she stressed out, "Last night I had one too many"
"Wow- in the middle of the week ?!"he teased her as he knew her rule not to drink during the week.
"We took Elena out to kick her shoes off. She was really down."
"I heard," Stefan said, "I cannot make excuses for my brother, he is not bad-but he makes hell of mistakes."
"All the time!" Yemaya added.
"Yeah, but I am not really into the Damon- Elena talk. Actually, I need a date for a cocktail party?!"
"You got invited too?!" Yemaya was surprised.
"Maybe it was some mistake, but it came from Mikael's official e-mail!" Stefan said.
"Yes. I would like to be your date!" Yemaya accepted happily.
"Good!"- Stefan smiled, and  now waited for her to finish off what she was doing.

Days went by in a flash, and everyone had mostly work on their mind. Well, not everyone. Elena had something else on her mind, or rather someone else.
The Mikaelson cocktail party started to be the thing everyone started to talk about.
Esther and Rebekah were deeply immersed in the event. Everything had to be perfect.
Esther had invited all her family for a family brunch the day before.
Kol, Miguel and Cristobal arrived an hour before the meal. Cristobal immediately went with Henrik, who was two years older than him and that was a bit strange as he was in actual fact his uncle.
"What is not weird with this family" Cristobal said looking at Henrik wide-eyed.
"I kind of have to get to know Klaus and Miguel- they look too serious" Henrik said.
"Dad can be fun-he just doesn't like to show it much!" Cristobal explained. "Show me the last vynils you’ve bought."
"Come on" Henrik said gesturing to follow him to his room.

Rebekah walked in the living room all chirpy, "Gossiped much?!"
"No. Why would you think so?" Klaus said. "Then you have changed- you always had something smart to say about me"
"I did hear already comments about what a dragon you are at work, " Klaus teased, "it's only fashion, but I guess it has to be run with military precision. Father must be very proud!"
"There-you see" Rebekah looked at Miguel, who wanted to stay out of it.
"I hear you have new friends," Klaus said,"kicked the old snobby ones to the curb, I hear"
"I am sick of her snoby friends- yes-I have managed to make proper friends, and if you behave, maybe I will introduce them to you!" Rebekah shot back at her brother tapping him on the shoulder.
Esther walked into the Salon and there was gladness in her heart. All her children were there, and that was a rare occasion in the last years.
Her husband now joined them and they sat down for a very different brunch they all were used to. It was warm, chatty and quite lively.
Esther was counting her blessings, though her heart was not entirely at ease.

The next day, the pre-cocktail buzz was already in full flow with both the hosts as well as their invites.
Caroline talked to Elena over the phone about the cocktail party and Klaus.
"He looks really good," Caroline said, "you should check his site- he has done some amazing stuff."
"Caroline, you are telling me that I get into things head over heals like instantly. Rebekah is great, but he is a Mikaelson. Do you really want to get involved with one of them?"
"Elena, I know what you're thinking. Too close to home. Could mess up a great friendship if things go bad"
"Not thinking anything. Ok. I got to go. See you later"
"I will pick you up," Caroline said, "oh, I went back and changed the dress. I am wearing the blue dress - right- Jess is hear to do my hair. I will see you soon."
"Ok." Elena put the phone down.
Elena went to do her hair and make up herself. She was good in anything creative. She decided to wave it a bit and pin one side. She was going for a more natural look, and yet looking glam.
Simplicity has always been her motto. And yet, everything she did never looked simple. From her range of cookies to her relationships.
The door bell went and Elena was surprised to see Yemaya at the door. She had already been ready and dressed.
"Hey- Sorry. I just had to come" the woman stormed in.
Elena could see that her friend was all flustered. Something major must have happened for her to be coming and not calling.
Elena now waited to hear her spill the beans.
"Ok -I am going to say it- huh- I slept with Stefan. We went for a drink and it was just one drink -and we talked and he drove me home and then we kissed and then we kissed some more and- you know the rest."
Elena didn't understand what was so bad about it. He and Yemaya were work collegues. And that is exactly now what was Yemaya's concern.
"I said I would never get involved with someone I work with."
"Shall I guess what you told him in the morning?! Exactly that?! Right?"
Yemaya nodded.

In the Mikaelson Mansion, Esther Mikaelson was going through the list with her personal party organizer for the afternoon cocktail party the family was hosting for an exlusive charity event for the hospital Miguel and Kol worked for. Just one look from her said volumes when she was displeased with something. When her favourite sister died in the car crash, everyone thought that she would retreat and never come back, as she did go away for a year to grieve and be by herself. The grief changed something in her, she became a recluse, but adopting Miguel, brought her back to life. As he now walked out into the garden, greeting her with a small kiss on the cheek.
"How are you, querida madre?"
"Very well - even better now that you and Cristobal are here." Esther replied.
"This looks beautiful. Thank you for doing this."
"Darling, it is nothing. It's my pleasure. Where is Cristobal?"
"With Henrik" Miguel said and now greeted Kol and Bonnie.
Kol then went on to introduce Bonnie to Klaus and Miguel. Rebekah quickly snatched Bonnie away from the men.
"So, I'm hearing wedding bells from the distance!" Klaus teased Kol.
"Unlike you, I actually want one woman for myself!" Kol threw back at him.
"You haven't changed at all!" Klaus said. "I will leave you two to discuss whatever medical thing you will discuss"
"Bonnie" Miguel started, " she seems to be lovely!"
"What about you? Are you never going to find someone again?” Kol asked his brother.
"I don't know," Miguel said, "maybe"
"What does that mean? Have you met somebody?" Kol continued with the quizzing. "Dr Ruben has set her eyes on you. She's been asking me if you were dating anyone?"
"Please don't play the matchmaker." Miguel warned.
"Don't worry -"
Cris and Henrik came up to them and Kol now turned to them, quizzing them about the band they were forming.
The guest started arriving and Cris now observed how Esther and Mikael, together with Rebekah glided among the guests and how masterfully they played the hosts.
Damon and Stefan arrived together. Krystal made a solo appearance.
Elena, Yemaya and Caroline entered like a grand trio.
Rebekah was there like a shot and greeted her friends.
"Who invited Krystal?" Caroline shot at Rebekah straight out seeing the woman mingling with some of the guests.
"Father's office - she is the best model and it's about business -if you thought that this was a family thing only, then you are mistaken -come on -let me introduce you to Miguel and Klaus."
Elena's heart dropped when she heard the name, but when she actually saw that it was the man she had met in the cafe, her heart started beating uncontrollably. She tried to keep her composure as Rebekah officially now introduced them.
"Hello" Miguel said, curling a smile at the brunette.
"Hello" Elena muttered and smiled back at him, “I thought your name is Mike?!”
"Uhm - it's Miguel - when we were kids Rebekah would call me Mikey - uhm - I don’t know why I introduced myself using my childhood nickname - just felt like - I suppose being back in New York”
"Oh, you've met?" Rebekah said slightly wide-eyed.
"Yes- a few days ago" Miguel said, his eyes still fixed on Elena.
Se pinta de colores toda mi alma
Con esa dulce luz de tu mirada
Y al verte sonreír, vuelvo a tener fe
Elena nodded, confirming it was so, looking at her friend and then at the suave looking cardiologist.
The waitress with champagne cocktails approached them and Miguel now took the glasses and offered one to her.
"Strawberry Bellini! I think you will like it." Miguel said to the brunette.
"Thank you!" Elena took the glass. She was at ease now. His charm just enveloped her and she didn't care anymore that she had seen Damon and Krystal at the party.
Not standing far from them, Caroline already chatted with Klaus as if they knew eachother forever. He offered her a Mimosa cocktail.
"You are looking in the direction of that brunette like she had done something to you so disgracefully" Klaus commented since Caroline looked at Krystal off and on.

OK. Fine. Damon raped caroline. But why don't you ever address the fact that klaus during the premier of season 4 used Tyler's body to make out with his unsuspecting girlfriend. And dont give me the excuse that caroline came onto him. She didn't know it wasn't Tyler but klaus. And klaus could've easily pushed her away and explained things, but i suppose his hands were too busy feeling her up. And playing tonsil hockey.
You meanthe “wrong time, wrong place, wrong equipment” scene where he was pushing heraway and gave her all the clues to see she was him and they stopped before itwent any further? In the show where Klaus was always treated for the piece ofshit he was and never formed a relationship with Caroline?
If you hadbeen following me down the years you would know that I am the first one toadmit that Klaroline is a toxic ship with abusive scenes that I alwaysacknowledged for what they are.
But “couldhave, would have” is not the same as actually raping with the intent to rape.
Klaus ismany things. A killer, an abuser, a misogynist, a manipulator, a “add more the list goes on” …but hewasn’t a rapist. He could have forced and compelled Caroline to have sex withhim at any time and be his ‘girlfriend’ but never did. It was not one of hisabhorrent character traits. He had many others but not that one.
DamonSalvatore was a rapist and a sexual predator. End of story. There is not “fineokay” line for me here. He abused and raped Caroline for weeks repeatedly. Hedid the same with Andie. And since you like the ‘could have would have logic’he tried to pull the same shit with Elena “You wanna kiss me” (1x03) but Stefan hadgiven Elena the vervain necklace so instead Elena slapped him and there was noopening for Damon to repeat his usual patterns with her because Stefan was inthe picture and protected her where he let Caroline be his chew toy and sexslave at first because it was convenient and would keep the town and more soElena safe.
We can goback and forth with this but in the end people get triggered by differentthings and are allowed to form an opinion on characters. Just because I happento like one villain doesn’t mean I have to like every other villain or excuseand justify vile actions and not criticize them. One does not negate the other.More so since I prefer to acknowledge every fucked up thing even in thecharacters I do like. But then again TVD (never watched The Originals) alwaystreated Klaus as the villain and never excused his shit in comparison withDamon where they took a rapist, glorified him into ‘heroism’ and never calledrape for what it was because it would somehow taint the image of the rapist thatin the end was integrated into the life of his victim in many ways in a showthat victim-blamed the girl he raped and never gave her any kind of validationor retribution for what has happened to her.
So yeah Iguess fine okay Damon raped Caroline indeed. Which I originally simply answeredto your question as to why I don’t like Daroline but somehow that wasn’t enoughfor you because if I like a ship it means that somehow it is mandatory to likea rapist or turn a blind eye to rape?
I am prettysure there are other people that don’t share the same beliefs with me and likeDamon. I also pretty sure you can have more fruitful discussions with thembecause we obviously have no common ground here.
