sakuya, tenma and kazunari + s/o on their period
request: ive got really bad cramps right now, so could i please have headcanons for sakuya, tenma and kazunari helping their s/o through their period please? thank you,,,
a/n: OOF cramps are the worst!!! I hope your period passes soon :( In the meantime, have some good boys to cheer you on!
Sakuya Sakuma
Babe is on their period, so I am too. It’s uterUS!
Sakuya is normally the sweetest boyfriend in the world, but you’re practically drowning in sugar once your period starts. He hates to see you in any sort of pain, and he’s going be at your beck and call the entire time.
If you mention you’re discomforted in the slightest, he will immediately spring up and get you whatever he thinks you’ll need. Hot water bottles for your stomach? Suddenly you have ten. You want a blanket? You’re buried under a mountain of them. Craving a particular food? Sakuya practically breaks the door in his haste to buy you as much chocolate as you want.
If you want physical affection, well, Sakuya is a blushing mess. He still get embarrassed when you hold hands in the school hallway, and cuddling you is something he’s happy to do; he’s just shy, and awkward, and probably a little stiff.
With Omi’s help, Sakuya has tried making your favorite foods for dinner. Sometimes he’ll wake up early so he can surprise you with a homemade lunch at school. He’ll write cute little notes of encouragement and about how much he adores you, and tape it to the top of the lunchbox.
Tenma Sumeragi
Goes to the store for pads. Sends a picture of styrofoam and asks “is this it?”
Not so surprisingly, this is the first time Tenma has been in a relationship, ever. So he’s clueless on how to navigate certain aspects of it, and this includes periods (he had to frantically google what the heck a period was the first time you got on yours).
You need to tell him what you want, and need, because otherwise he’s going to panic and clumsily blunder his way through this particular time. It’s almost cute how he has no idea what to do, if only your cramps weren’t killing you.
Tenma’s usual brash, blunt attitude softens for you. He’s attentive to whatever you need during this time, and puts aside (most of) his pride for you. The entire company was in shock when you asked him to get you some food, and he went out and bought it without a word of complaint.
Sometimes he’ll head over to your room with a blanket, some food, and movies you wanted to watch, and the two of you will curl up together until you fall asleep. Or he’ll bring his script from his latest tv show, and make you practice scenes with him until you’re both laughing. Tenma isn’t the best at expressing his affection verbally, but he really does worry about you, and wants to make you feel comfortable.
Kazunari Miyoshi
Babe, I’m in the pad aisle. What size pussy do you wear?
Kazunari is the probably the only boy who’s remotely prepared for your period. He’s used to having to comfort his friends, so he’s knows all the tips and tricks to dealing with periods.
He’s good at intuiting what you want before you even ask for it. The fridge is stocked with drinks and foods you like, and somehow he’s already running with painkillers and a hot water bottle the moment you express that you’re in pain.
You’re always being spoiled by Kazunari, but he’s extra doting when you’re on your period. Whatever you want, he’ll do it. He’ll play video games with you for hours on end, giving the characters goofy voices and doing his best to help you beat the level. He’ll binge shows and movies, holding you by his side, reacting at every plot twist. If you just want to nap, then he’ll lay down with you and stroke your back until you’re dozing off.
He’ll also leave little doodles of your favorite characters or your favorite animals around your room, a little surprise to make you smile when you find them. Additionally, Kazunari is great at massages, and if you want one, then he’s happy to help, letting you chat about whatever you want as he works the knots out of your shoulders.

How d’you think everyone’s favorite threesome in the Doctor!universe would spent Christmas? Or perhaps just Christmas Eve, if they go to the manor for the big day? -🐉
Aww, hi babe!
Hm, we’re going to talk a minute about Dr!Tim? You know, after a bit of thought, I think Tim’s first Christmas after finding a vigilante on his fire escape bleeding out would have probably started out awful.
Let’s say he’s usually the one to work Christmas Eve and into Christmas Day whenever he could during his time learning under Tony Stark before he started his Residency in Gotham.
He didn’t have Stephanie and Layla or anyone else but Tony, really, so it was fine for him to take shifts so people with families could be off with the ones they loved.
Once he got to Gotham and met back up with Steph and pretty much became Uncle Timmy to Layla, he only took Christmas Eve or Christmas Day off when they weren’t out of town visiting with Steph’s mom. The years Layla’s dad has her, they run the Gauntlet together, and work until they’re sleep-deprived and delirious, laughing at crazy things while they stumble to Steph’s house to pass the fuck out for twelve hours or Tim’s penthouse to binge some boring nature show.
But last year Layla’s dad had her, so this year, his girls are off to Metropolis, waving at him out the back window. Steph offered a place for him, but he knows her mom’s place will be cramped as is, so he just watches them go with his heart in his throat, and no shift at Mercy General to keep him up and moving.
I think he spends Christmas Eve wearing the ugly sweater Layla got him, something crazy playing on Netflix completely un-Christmas related because he doesn’t really have good memories of the holiday, not even from when his parents were alive.
(One year, Mrs. Mac stopped by to check on him and bring him cookies, gave him a hug and a pat on the head before she left to be with her daughter and grandchildren. When he was really young, he can remember laying on his mother’s lap with the tree glowing gently, opening presents with them there, watching and laughing. The next year, they were on a dig somewhere exotic, just like the year after and the year after that until they were just gone, never coming back this time...)
So, he plans to keep himself busy and ignore all the movies and decorations, ignore the warmth and family and togetherness. He’s going to bury himself in research and tech articles, write on one of his articles for a medical journal, maybe hang out in his lab down the hall for a few hours, just let Christmas–
–go on without him.
The knock on his window at three a.m. is jarring, shocking because the city has been silent for hours at this point.
The second round is enough to make him stand up off the couch, wander closer to the window with squished brows, probably bleary eyed from staring at the screen for too long (probably also from those old memories rearing up).
When he moves the curtains, and those whiteouts are right there, he eeps and almost falls on his ass.
The window is nudged up by a gloved hand, Nightwing hanging upside down with a Santa cap somehow staying on his head when he swings in without hesitation.
“Timmy! Are you okay?! Geeze, I’m sorry. I didn’t even think you’d be awake at this time of night.”
“Wazzat, Big Wing? Got Timmers with that old trick?” Hood is right on his heels, calves wrapped around the wrought iron fire escape, the Elf hat probably on the helmet with double-sided sticky tape.
“Wh–?” Wide-eyed, looking from Nightwing to the Red Hood peeking in at him, he’s pretty much at a loss.
“We came to see if you were home! You weren’t working at Mercy tonight.”
“Sides, it’s Christmas, ya feel me, Baby Bird?”
Hood tosses a small sack inside before he’s through the window just that fast, he and Big Wing offering hands down to their sometimes personal physician.
“Oh, I mean, I tried to sign up for a shift, but the Chief of Staff said I couldn’t work another double,” he shrugs and wearily lays his hands in gloved ones, imagining the warmth of palms against his, lets them pull him to his feet.
“Mmhm,” Hood hums as he and N pull their doc to his feet, looks him over critically. “Looks like ya been up long enough,” the free hand thumbs the dark circles under his eyes.
The doctor quirks a brow at them, “well, let me at least make you some coffee before you have to go back out in the cold. Does anyone in the class have any potentially fatal injuries you’d like to tell me about before I have a whole lot of unconscious vigilante on my couch?”
Both vigilantes obligingly hold up their hands and turn in small circles to show off no punctures in the suits or injuries he can see. Nightwing is grinning softly at him and Hood gives him a thumbs up in an all good here.
They follow him to the kitchen, exchanging a glance after his back is turned, wondering where the Christmas Tree is, or decorations, at least. There’s only one sad little construction paper wreath on the end table by the door made by Layla, but that’s...it.
Gauntlets and gloves come off, helmet and holsters on the back of a chair while the coffee perks and Tim moves around his kitchen, talking idly about doing some research before bed, fervently hoping they don’t ask him the hard questions.
But, of course, Tim doesn’t talk much about his past with anyone, not even Ives and Steph, prefers to just keep moving forward instead of looking back. He might be a little more compromised tonight than usual, and pours coffee with a slightly trembling hand.
It might be the night Nightwing and Hood start taking more of a shine to their doctor than they should, considering how close to danger he is just by helping them when the injuries are bad and they’re in a bind. It might be how he obviously has no one to be with on Christmas, how he doesn’t have anyone to celebrate with, to decorate for, to have presents wrapped up, or leftovers from a good dinner in his fridge.
They’re detectives and the story is right there in every inch of the penthouse, in Tim’s awful sweater and pj pants, his slightly red eyes, the way he won’t really meet their eyes when they talk about the quiet night in the city because of the holiday.
They stay with him until dawn, drinking coffee and juice, watching awful fails on YouTube, waiting until Tim’s finally tired enough to pass out on the couch between them.
And dawn is just peeking on the horizon when Nightwing gently carries the doctor to bed, Hood pulling the sheets back, maybe lightly touching Tim’s hair before covering him back up.
The two ease out of the room and close the door behind them.
When Tim wakes up the next night, Christmas Day will be over in a few hours, and he’s grateful because the world can finally go back to normal. Steph and Layla will be back, and the Gauntlet will be waiting for them to try saving Gotham in their own way. Nightwing and Hood will get beat-up fighting the good fight and at least come to him when they need to. Robin will still tt at him, Tony will visit soon to just remind Tim he’s making awful life choices. Lucas will ride his ass about how much he works and Ives will be his safe haven. The world will somehow balance out again.
He won’t get stuck like this next year, just make sure he’s always on the schedule when his people have other places to go.
But when he finally pulls himself out of bed, gets his feet under him to stumble in and try finding something to eat in his kitchen, his gaze falls on something sparkly sitting on his bedside table. Something vaguely square and wrapped in crazy black and yellow paper with little bat signals on them, the ribbons Robin red and green.
He’ll gasp softly, his heart leaping into his throat, blink once, and then blink again.
The package is still there.
He tentatively touch the box with trembling fingertips, pull it against his chest, hold on a little too tightly with his eyes wet and a laugh on his face at the utter absurdity of it.
But damn if it doesn’t give him the strength to get his legs under him, and fucking stand.
(Jay and Dick don’t find out until next year that Tim never opened the present, wanted to keep it just like that since he hadn’t gotten gifts from anyone but Steph, Layla, and Ives in years. It comes out the next year when they drag him to the Manor for a few hours before riding back to the penthouse to meet up with Steph and Layla, when there’s a massive tree decorated with stacks of presents underneath. When his place has lights strung up all around and cut-out snowflakes from Batgirl, when the ornaments are Nightwing blue and Robin red, Jay and Dick drug him to Hobby Lobby to pick out. When the special one with three snowmen labeled Dick, Jay, Tim is right in the middle surrounded by Layla’s nutcracker, Dami’s picture one from school, and Lian’s ballerina. Steph managed to get a few picture of the three of them together wearing Santa hats and the picture is framed on the end table.
When they get home that night, cuddling on the sofa a year later, watching It’s a Wonderful Life and drinking eggnog Alfred sent with them, Jay will ask why he never used the little gift they left him last year. And Tim will get a little pink in the face when he admits he never opened it, he just put it away with his other good memories, not wanting to spoil the magic.
That earns him soft kisses and more cuddles since Dick is literally a cuddle machine, and Jay finds it so easy to fit their little boyfriend under his chin.
They’re on either side of him when he finally brings the box after some digging, and pulls out the bow.
The small device fits in the palm of his hand, easily fits in his doctor’s bag.
“A comm, in case you ever needed to contact us,” Dick tells him with a kiss to his temple.
“We started takin’ a shine ta ya, Baby. Thought ya might use it when we don’t come ta ya, you feel me?”
“Oh,” and he has to clear his throat, his voice a little wavery, his eyes a little hot. “That’s...even back then?”
“Merry Christmas, Timmy,” Dick replies gently in answer, palming the back of his neck.
“Merry Christmas, Sweets,” Jay’s deft fingers move the comm to thread their fingers together and hold on.
“Merry Christmas,” he chokes, face buried in Jay’s neck, squished between them while the lights from the tree glow and the warmth in his chest is so beautifully, perfectly fragile.
It’s certainly the best Christmas ever.)

“Sadly enough, the most painful goodbyes are the ones that are left unsaid and never explained.”
It was the beeping sound that fully woke him up. Before that he had been in and out of a hazy sleep but now, he could feel his eyes opening, blinking as they adjusted to the lights above his head, a head that was clear and not woozy, the oxygen that was flowing into his nose helping with that. Opening his eyes fully, he was able to take in his surroundings and Taron could see he was tucked into a hospital bed.
He took a moment to move his fingers and his toes, then his legs and his arms, almost melting into the soft mattress under his body, as the movement felt free and painless. His stomach had settled and that agony he had been cursed with was gone and Taron could cry with the relief.
“Hey Taron.” He looked to his left to see the nurse who had been beside him earlier as the doctor examined him, a clipboard in her hands. “How are you feeling?” She asked.
Taron had to try and answer the question twice, as the first time, his throat was dry and he had to swallow to ease the scratchy feeling before he could find his voice. “Not too bad.”
“How’s the pain? Anything hurt?” Taron shook his head, not trusting his voice to speak again. “Let me get you some water.” Ruth opened the bottle of water she had left ready for Taron for when he woke up, and poured some into a glass. “Can you hold it?” She asked handing it to him.
Taron took the glass from the nurse in his right hand, only then noticing the heart monitor on his finger and the nurse had to help him hold the glass until he got a good grip of it. He lifted the glass to his lips and took a small sip and then a bigger drink, enjoying the refreshment of the water. He gave the glass back to the nurse who left it on the table beside the bed.
“Better?”
“Yeah.”
“I am going to go and get Doctor Hart Taron. He asked me to go and get him when you woke up.”
“What time is it?” Asked Taron feeling quite disorientated.
“It is just after nine.”
“Nine am?”
“No nine pm.”
Taron was taken aback by the time. “How long have I been asleep?”
“About fourteen hours. I am going to get Doctor Hart now. He just wants to talk to you about your tests results.”
Taron watched the nurse leave the room and lay back on the pillow behind his head, once again appreciating how his body felt free from any pain. Having been crippled with twinges and aches earlier, in tears as he dealt with spasm after spasm, being able to move his arm now without the fear of a cramp coming on was a new guilty pleasure for him. He looked down to his left arm and saw the IV line was still there so he gathered the reason for his sudden comfort was from a serious amount of pain killers that were being pumped into his body through the IV line. Thinking about comfort, quickly turned Taron’s thoughts to what had become his comfort before the pain killers were introduced to his body and that was Robyn. He was very much looking forward to getting to see her so he could properly thank her for how she had looked after him especially now that he could think clearly and be able to construct an understandable sentence.
The door to the room opened again and Taron lifted his head to see the nurse and the doctor walk back in.
“Taron, it is very good to see you awake. How are you feeling?” Doctor Hart walked up beside the bed.
“I’m ok actually.”
“And how is the pain? Are you feeling anything?”
“None.”
“I am afraid I have lulled you into a false sense of pain free security Taron. I have made sure that you have been given a lot of pain relief because when you came into the hospital you were in a considerable amount of discomfort but I will be decreasing it gradually as the days go on. Not today but as your body starts to heal, we will be lowering the dosage. Don’t look so concerned. I have to do it so I can gage how your injuries are, not because I am an evil doctor.” He could immediately see that panic he had seen before in his patient’s eyes start to relight. “Please be assured Taron, you will not be laying here in pain but as the days go on, I do have to re-examine you, so to get an accurate analysis, I need you to be able to feel something but we’re not going to worry about that right now.” Doctor Hart sat on the chair beside the bed. “I am going to make the rest of this quick. I am very pleased with all of your results Taron. Everything has come back clear. I have stitched your arm and added some steri-strips to your head, both wounds will heal very well. You have some badly bruised ribs which you will feel for a few weeks and your chest is going to feel tender too because of the pressure from the compressions Robyn gave you during CPR. No broken bones and a very mild concussion. I wasn’t lying to you in the CT room when I said you were very lucky.” As Doctor Hart spoke, he was impressed to see Taron keep eye contact with him the entire time, listening closely as he spoke. “It will be a few weeks of rest and recovery. Richard was telling me that you are an actor and in the middle of filming a particularly stunt heavy movie.” Taron nodded. “I am afraid that is out of the question Taron. You have to make sure your body heals fully before you even think about going back to work like that. If you don’t, you can do more serious damage that may not be reparable. When you leave the hospital, you will have to take it easy and just relax and binge watch some Netflix.”
“When do you think I can leave the hospital?” Asked Taron trying to process all of the information he was being given and wondering how his director was going to take the news that he wouldn’t be back on set ready to film any time soon.
“If you listen to the nurses and continue to sleep and rest in here, by the end of the week I would be happy to discharge you. In a day or two, the nurses will help to build your strength back up by small walks around the ward too. Once you are discharged, I will make sure to prescribe you with some painkillers and an appointment to have those stitches out.”
Taron nodded. “Thanks doctor.” Considering how he had felt coming into the hospital, he was surprised to hear that he wasn’t as beat up as he thought he was.
“No problem. Ruth is going to keep an eye on you so if you need anything you can ask her. Take some time to breathe and sleep, definitely sleep and if you want to ask me anything about your results or the CT scan, Ruth can come and find me and I will come back but for the time being I just want you to take it very easy. You may have escaped some serious injuries but you are still hurt so don’t try and jump back into your daily life too quickly.” Doctor Hart and stood up and turned to Ruth and the two walked towards the door. “I shall leave him with you then. I know his friend is outside and will want to see him but after that, lets just top up that medicine as before.”
Even though Doctor Hart was pleased with Taron, the young man still looked physically exhausted and he really wanted his patient to sleep comfortably so he had asked Ruth so give Taron some more medicine to help him rest peacefully with no interruptions.
“Richard can visit for about half an hour Ruth and then I really want Taron resting. He has been through a lot and needs to recuperate plus visiting hours were over two hours ago but I don’t think Richard has actually left the hospital since he came in. I will go and get him now.”
Taron let his head fall back on the pillow. There was so much going through his mind at the moment but he pushed his busy thoughts to the side, feeling eager to see Richard and Robyn again, the trio having made a bond over something so surreal and he really could do some of that comfort that only Robyn knew how to give, calming his chaotic mind.
He was aware of Ruth moving around his bed, checking IV lines and taking notes on his chart but soon the door opened and he looked up to see Richard come into the room and close the door behind him. Taron felt his face frown when the door didn’t open again and it was just Richard walking towards him.
“Hey mate, it is good to see you awake.” Said Richard as he took the seat the doctor had just been in.
“I will leave you guys to catch up. Richard, you have thirty minutes. That is all. Taron needs to rest and visiting hours are over.”
“I know. Doctor Hart has already explained it to me.”
“I will be back in thirty.”
Once the door had closed Taron looked to Richard. “Where is Robyn?” He asked. “Isn’t she with you?” Richard couldn’t look at his friend and Taron immediately knew something wasn’t right and he tried to sit up in the bed but had to stop when his left arm protested with the IV. “Richard, where is Robyn?”
“We both came to see you much earlier this morning, around seven and Doctor Hart told us how you were and said we could sit with you for a while before we had to go. We had just sat down when my phone rang and it was my mum. I left the room to answer it, leaving Robyn here to sit with you and when I came back, she was gone and this was left on your pillow.”
Richard pulled a crumpled note from his pocket and gave it to Taron.
“I’m sorry Taron.”
Taron took the paper from his friend and opened it, looking at handwriting he didn’t recognise at all and started to read the words on the page.
‘Hey Taron,
I know this letter is not the way I wanted us to part but sometimes, hard decisions have to made and this is one of the hardest I have ever had to make.
Please believe me, I would not have left in this way, if I wasn’t one hundred percent sure that you were going to make a full recovery and after speaking with Doctor Hart, I know you are going to be just fine, that you are in the best care possible and Richard is here with you too.
And knowing that has made this choice easier for me which I know is selfish on my part considering I got to say good bye and you didn’t but I have to go back home. I have my own responsibilities that I need to get back to. I need to get back to my reality and you to yours.
I am sorry we won’t get to have that karaoke battle; I was really looking forward to that. Elton vs Freddie – It would have been a good one,
I have spoken to your mam twice by the time you will have gotten this letter and she knows the extent of what has happened but not all the facts – Richard can fill you in on the remaining details because I would hope by now Richard has also spoken to your mam but I have eased her worries and made sure she knows that you will be ok with lots of rest. She can’t wait to hear your voice. Your sisters too.
Thank you for trusting in me in the 7/11. I am sure that was not an easy thing to do – letting a stranger take your actual life into their hands.
I wish you nothing but the best for whatever life brings you.
Thank you for being a ‘Rocketman’.
Robyn xx’
Taron dropped the letter onto the bed and looked to Richard with tears in his eyes. “She went home.” A single tear rolled down his cheek that he didn’t bother to wipe away. “She went home.” He repeated laying back on the pillow, another tear rolling down his cheek. He closed his eyes and let a long breathe leave his lips, a miserable upsetting feeling settling in him as he had to come to terms with the fact that Robyn was not coming through the door and all he had was a letter from her. A letter was not the comfort he needed right now, he needed so much more but he realised quickly he was not going to get it and turning his face away from Richard, he buried the side of his face into the pillow.
“I am really sorry Taron.” Repeated Richard seeing how the letter from Robyn was affecting his friend.
Richard got his own shock when he came back to Taron’s room that morning to see that Robyn was nowhere to be found. At first, he had thought she might have gone to the bathroom but then he saw two letters on Taron’s pillow, one with his name and one with Taron’s name, Richard knew she hadn’t just left to go the bathroom.
He opened his letter to read something similar to what she had wrote to Taron, explaining that she had to go home and asking him to ring Taron’s mam, thanking him for helping to look after Taron but there was no phone number, no address and not even a surname on the letter. Richard was ushered out of Taron’s room an hour later and he had moved back to the waiting room and stayed there until Doctor Hart walked in, wanting to make it clear to Richard that he couldn’t stay in the hospital all day but once he had heard that Robyn had left, he allowed Richard to wait to talk to Taron when he woke up. Robyn’s instructions in Richards letter were very clear, once Taron had woken up, he had to give the letter to Taron himself.
Now that Richard had done so, it was desperately hard to watch Taron reaction to Robyn’s unexpected departure. He knew from speaking with Robyn in the 7/11 that she was due back on work at seven thirty on Monday morning but really didn’t think she was actually going to get her flight back home, considering their grim night together but she had left without saying a face to face goodbye to either of them.
Once again, the only sounds that filled the hospital room were the beeping coming from the machine beside Richard and an odd sniffle from Taron but those sniffles slowly faded and Taron drifted off to sleep again, mostly with the help of the medicine he had been given by Ruth before Richard had walked in. Taron couldn’t quite understand the hurt he was feeling and this wasn’t a physically hurt hut rather a gut wrenching one and it was a drug induced sleep that helped to take the sadness he was feeling away. He was never going to get the chance to repay Robyn for what she had done, he was more than likely never going to see the woman who had saved his life again.

Tagged by @frozenmemories1987
So I don’t really understand how this one works, so I’m just gonna answer all the questions and number them consecutively. Upfront I’m gonna say that I’m not tagging anyone, but as always, if you wish to do it, consider yourself tagged. Also, this is going under a read more. Save the thumbs of any mobile users
01. What was the last movie you watched in theaters?
It’s been months, so I can’t remember, sorry
02. What’s your favorite game to play?
Currently it’s Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. I hadn’t played it since I got it (and beat it all in one go), and I forgot just how much I love this game. It’s like Pokémon meets Dragon Quest, and it’s amazing. On the one hand, making a team entirely of dragons might be a bad idea, but on the other hand, I freaking love dragons. I should probably synth one with a healing skillset if I’m gonna do that - possibly Cure-all since that’s got Multiheal. My current party is a Lv 20 great argon lizard named Rory, a Lv 24 slime stack with Cure-all named Sticker, and a Lv 19 aquestrian gladiator with Huntsman named Mizuno. When I leave them to their own devices, Mizuno really loves using Penny Pincher, which tbh I cannot fault him for - normal damage plus the chance to pinch a few gold coins? Heck yes. At least he’s got 44 MP, so I haven’t had to change his tactics to “Don’t Use Magic” yet (the skill costs 2 MP)
03. Chocolate or vanilla?
Chocolate
04. What’s the last show you binge-watched?
NUMB3RS (though I’m still working on that one)
05. Do you have any pets?
No
06. What’s your favorite fairy tale?
I dunno. I don’t actually read very many fairy tales
07. Who’s your favorite superhero?
Superhero stuff doesn’t normally appeal to me, but I do like Cisco Ramon/Vibe and Ray Palmer/The Atom from CW’s Arrowverse
08. Who’s your favorite Disney princess?
Erm, Rapunzel, I guess?
09. Where’s the first place you’re going to go after social distancing is over?
I know I’m gonna hang out with my friend like we were planning to before this started, but as for where... probably Barnes & Noble since that’s where we usually go, but who knows (I say, knowing full well that neither of us know where to go, and we go to HPB when we’re specifically looking for a book but default to B&N bc of the café and seating area)
10. Cookies or cake?
Cookies
11. What show could you watch over and over?
Monk, CSI, and Psych, to name a few
12. Favorite song lyric?
See, I have to believe that there’s more than this seems More than a soul in a boat in a sea of sinking dreams And I have to be sure that there’s gonna be a cure ‘Cause, somewhere down the line, I lost that part of me that’s pure
 - Where We Belong by Thriving Ivory
13. Favorite season of your favorite TV show?
S14 of CSI, probably
14. What never fails to make you smile/happy?
Seeing I’ve got a comment on AO3
15. How are you doing with all that’s going on in the world (coronavirus, having to do social distancing, etc.)?
My lifestyle hasn’t changed at all, though for some reason I’ve actually been getting way more crocheting and video-gaming done than usual (at the expense, of course, of less reading and writing and TV-watching. Unfortunately). But we have lost business at the doughnut shop so I haven’t been working as many days - usually I work Monday and Friday - which, on the one hand, less money, but on the other hand, I’ve gotten more rest so my bruised ribs (from coughing; I had strep about a month and a half ago, and that always leaves me with a cough for a while, though it’s never been this bad before) are mostly healed now
16. We all love new music to listen to. Name an artist that is underrated/you think people should check out:
Thriving Ivory/Midnight Cinema (same band, different songwriters; Thriving Ivory is more piano-driven and leans more toward alt/alt-rock, while Midnight Cinema is more pop)
17. TV shows or movies?
TV shows
18. Favorite holiday?
Halloween
19. A song that describes you:
I’ve always related to Some Kind of Home by Thriving Ivory
20. Describe your tumblr in three words:
“hella queer animal-lover” idk
21. What’s your favorite hobby?
It depends on my mood, but rn it’s crocheting!
22. What’s your favorite book and/or a really good book you’ve read recently?
CSI: Miami: Cut and Run by Donn Cortez is amazing. I read it back in January and then reread it this month. Probably will be rereading it again before long tbh
Another really good one I’ve read recently is How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse by K. Eason. It just came out like six months ago, so the second one won’t be out any time soon, but I am ready for it when it does (more than ready, actually; I can’t wait)
23. What’s your favorite ship that will never happen (or hasn’t happened yet)?
I really wish they had done something with Greg/Hodges. I mean, they had the perfect setup for it in 11.07 Bump and Grind, what with their “man-dates” (that never get mentioned again)!! Their man-dates become a regular thing that they do like every week or whatever, eventually they realize that they’re actual dates and have been for a while and they start consciously dating. Maybe Greg already knows he’s bi and is totally cool with it, maybe David’s been repressed and realizes that, oh, that’s why something’s always seemed like it was missing when he tried dating before: he’s gay.
Unsurprisingly, I have a few 11.07 fics in my WIPs
(But also, considering CSI’s track record with respecting queer people [poor], I’m kinda glad they didn’t. Woulda been nice, though, long as they'da done it right)
A ship that I’m really hoping will happen is Penelope and Schneider from One Day at a Time. I love them so much
24. If you could spend the day with any living celebrity, who would it be?
I would rather meet a celebrity in passing than spend a day with them. I am far too awkward and anxious, and I’m afraid it would not be an enjoyable experience for either of us
25. The best worst movie you’ve ever seen - a movie that you know objectively is trash but you can’t help but really enjoy it:
I don’t think I have any like this
26. When you read, do you prefer an eReader or an actual, physical book?
Paper books all the way, baby
27. Favorite movie?
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, probably
28. What does a normal day look like for you?
I stay in bed reading or playing games on my phone (or, more recently, on my DS) for as long as possible, dick around on here for a while whilst also trying to get at least some SwagBucks in another window, try not to forget to eat lunch, play the free money apps I have on my phone while either listening to music on my laptop or watching shows either on my laptop or the TV, try not to forget to eat dinner, watch some more TV or get some reading or gaming in, try not to stay up too late, take over an hour to fall asleep, maybe if I’m lucky get some writing done at some point during any of this (and if I’m really lucky it won’t be while I’m trying to sleep, but usually it is, damn brain)
29. Have you ever watched a show/movie for one character? If so, who?
Normally when I watch something specifically for someone, it’s for an actor I like, but I started watching CW’s The Flash specifically for Cisco Ramon (well, and Harry Wells and their relationship, but mostly Cisco) and Legends of Tomorrow specifically for Ray Palmer, whom I fell in love with in his ep on The Flash lol
30. What is your ultimate concert (musicians/bands from any period, alive or dead)?
I don’t go to concerts (they seem like they’d be very overwhelming), so, none, I guess
31. Book that you were forced to read in school that you hated the most:
God, I fucking hated To Kill a Mockingbird. Actually, I think the only one I actually liked was The Importance of Being Earnest

For a one shot prompt: Hamliza w/the gang playing Truth or Dare and the gang is trying to get Alex and Eliza to admit that they like each other by giving them great dares!
Cute idea! I’m so behind on these I’m so sorry all! Still - remember requests are open and while I’m no Lin with my writings I’m not bad!
~~~~~
This was a bad idea. Twenty five minutes into truth or dare and Alex was beginning to pick up on that. Already Peggy was half drunk - much to Angelica’s dismay - Laf was clad in a tutu and nothing else, Maria had shaved half of her head - though it looked good on her - Thomas and Herc kissed and James had to eat the pizza in the fridge no one dared to touch, John had sexted George while blocking his number, and Angelica had to tongue kiss Burr.
Alex could tell he was next.
And he knew roughly what they were planning.
Eliza, on the other hand, had known this was a bad idea as soon as the ‘T’ left Laf’s lips. Truths had been spilled, and at this point their night was turning to look like Hangover Part IV. Her and Alex so far had the simple dares, but with everyone moving about they’d been forced so close to each other she could practically hear his heart beat.
Or was the hers?
She sighed, watching as Angelica spun the bottle. It spun, creeping slower, the head turning towards her and Alex when it stopped on…
She sighed in relief. Lafayette.
“Let’s do this!” He cheered, throwing his arms in the air.
“Alright Laf, truth or dare?”
Looking down at his outfit he frowned, sharing a look with Angelica. Understanding he smirked.
“Truth mon ami!”
“Laf you speak English better than half of us you can stop that.” Herc groaned, Peggy leaned against him started giggling.
Laf sent a dead face. “Je parlerai seulement en français, Hercules.”
Alex laughed, “Je serai le seul à comprendre mais,” He shrugged, “Fais le!”
“English, please.” John threw a pillow at Alex, who fell against Eliza’s side, laughing as he threw it back.
“Anyway, truth, Laf?”
“Oui.”
“I’m going to kill you.”
“Okay then, is it true you’d fuck Washington if you were given the opportunity?” Alex choked on his beer, Eliza let out a strangled laugh at her sister’s choice of words.
“Hey now - “
Laf interrupted, “Yes.”
“Lafayette what the hell!”
“I’m sorry baby, but have you not seen that man?” He fanned himself. “Ce que j'aimerais que cet homme me fasse…”
“I don’t know what you just said but I feel hurt by it.”
“It’s a good thing only Jefferson and I speak French.” Alex murmured into Eliza’s ear, half realizing what he was doing, her face turning bright red.
It didn’t go un-noticed.
“Mon petit lion! It is your turn!” Laf exclaimed, shoving Herc away from him who pouted while leaning on Peggy who was drunkenly stroking his head.
“You didn’t even spin the bottle Laf.” Rolling his eyes he spun it, stopping it himself to land it on Alex.
“There! Now, truth or dare.”
“Dare I guess?” Oh man why did he say dare?
“Kiss who you think is the prettiest girl in the room! Notice how I said girl because if I said person I would hands down beat you all!” Laf yelped, falling backwards as James hit him with a pillow, laughing as he refused to sit back up.
His whole face was red. His whole body was probably red too. He could feel the tips of his ears turning red, hands sweating. Why did he say dare?
Eliza, on the other hand, felt her body flood with disappointment. She loved her sister, but she wouldn’t be able to bear seeing Alex kiss her. He was smitten with Angelica - anyone could see that.
She’d be fine.
She was lying.
Oh God, she felt herself choking up, zoning out. If she didn’t pay attention she wouldn’t have to see it. If she didn’t see it then -
Alex, quick as he could, finger hooked under her chin, turned her so she was looking at him. Face flushed redder than ever, heat radiating from his cheeks, eyes shut, quickly but with no less tenderness or care kissed her lips.
He pulled back after a few seconds, but Eliza felt like he had kissed her for ages. When he sat down, face aflame, he faced the center of their circle. Everyone was silent, eyes wide and mouths dropped.
“It’s about time!”
“Get it Alexander!”
“Ayyyyy!”
Eliza blushed, face matching Alex’s as everyone screamed praises at them. Nothing was said between the two as the game continued, the rest of them slowly becoming more drunk, no one but the two of them seeing when Alex slowly slid his hand over, placing it over top Eliza’s.
No one saw the dopey smile that crept onto her face.
~     ~
Everyone was either drunk or asleep. Besides Alex and Eliza. They were sat on the couch, binge watching Supernatural. Neither of them had said a thing since the kiss, but it hadn’t made them awkward, rather, relaxed.
Alex cleared his throat. Oh God, he wrote for a living - well not yet but whatever - and he couldn’t come up with what to say or how to say it. “So,” Eliza turned to him, “Would you - Are we, do we - “
“Dinner and a movie?” She cut him off, using all of her confidence, and he nodded, causing her to smile. “Great, Five Guys then Moana. Sound good?”
“Y-Yeah, sounds great!” He smiled, cheeks a light shade of pink.
“You’re adorable…” She said softly, causing the pink to become a tad bit darker.
“You’re beautiful…” It was her turn to blush, and both of them turned back to the TV, watching Sam and Dean talk, both lost at what was actually happening in the show at this point.
“Ayyyy,” Peggy slurred, leaned up against Angelica and John, “Eliza’s gettin’ some!”
Angelica sighed, a brief look of longing taking over as she looked at the two. They were both so happy - they’d been pinning after each other since they met at the school ball two years ago.
Sure she was smitten with Alex - he was brilliant, sweet, his eyes captivated you, they did her - but so was Eliza. And she’d be damned if her sister wasn’t happy.
John caught where she was looking, saddness filling his eyes too as he sighed, causing Angelica to turn to him. “You too huh?”
Anonymous said: When I first came to this comic book fandom I was just a batman fan, didn't even know there was more than 1 robin (I feel so ashamed now oh my god), thought batman was the coolest superhero etc. But then I found your blog and started to pay more attention to batfamily. And now can't watch any batman-oriented movies (screw you, Nolan) or cartoons if there's no batfam member except Alfred. So, yeah, I blame you for this, thanks a lot (I'm serious, thank you so much, I love you)
:’) It’s my absolute pleasure
@macko-99 said: Do you think Duke has begun to acept the weird-ass crap that goes on in Wayne Manor or is he still getting used to it?
Is anyone ever truly used to it?
I like to think he know to expect something, but the day to day reveal of what exactly that something is can still be shocking. Just walk away, honestly. Don’t question it. This is probably normal.
Anonymous said: which comics do you recommend?
Hm my favorite series are Red Robin, Batgirl (2009), both Batman and Robins, and Robin: Son of Batman. Some of my favorite story lines are Under the Red Hood and The Black Mirror. For a better list, you’d have to be a little more specific about what you were looking for.
Anonymous said: hey what do u think of the dc's new Powerless show that coming out?
I’m really looking forward to it! It sounds like they’ve switched up their premise a little bit-- it used to be an insurance company, and now it’s R&D-- but I’m pretty happy with it either way, and I’m especially excited because the last trailer had them working for Wayne Enterprises. I wouldn’t necessarily expect any bats to show up in the show, but I can always pretend they’re there, and they might make references
Anonymous said: Can i request a fluffy damian acting his age™ hc's with cherry on top?
Hm I already did that one (here), so unless I come up with something else, I reckon that’s all there’s gonna be
@arabian-batboy said: Can write something where Bruce come across Jason in an alley after his resurrection but before Talia took him in & since he couldn't talk at that time (& because he's supposed to be dead) Bruce thinks it's just a hallucination and just leaves him?
Just for the record I am planning on writing this for you, Ive just been kinda busy lately. Sorry about the wait!
@lowbloodkiwi said: I've been on a completely unhealthy Jason Todd Binge and your blog is now victim to this search as well. (Aka nerdsobsessedwithheroes is me and Jason Todd beat my love for Dick Grayson oh no)
Lmao no problem :) My favorite list switches up all the time. Not the top spot, you know, but everyone else.....
Anonymous said: Would Jason have been better off never meeting Bruce or being adopted by him?
Hmmmmm that’s kind of hard to call, I reckon. I guess.... probably?
I think my answer would depend pretty heavily on whether Jason’s life gets any better or not-- specifically his mental health-- and I don’t know if that’s going to be the case. It would happen if I was in charge of things, but regrettably I am not.
Things as they are, Jason’s association with Bruce has been pretty terrible for him. The death/resurrection thing was traumatic on both ends, and then you got his estrangement from his family, all of the stuff with the League of Assassins, and now he’s killed a lot of people.
If Bruce hadn’t found him, we don’t know what would have happened, but I would assume four years in the foster care system and then... who knows.
The problem is that Jason was pretty messed up before Bruce got ahold of him, so I can’t say with any certainty that things would have worked out for him if he hadn’t gone with Bruce. I can pretty definitely say that it wouldn’t have involved dying and coming back to life, but I can’t say it would be fun.
And even though Jason is doing really badly now, he’s very young in the grand scheme of things. If he can get to a better place that still involves Bruce, we potentially could be looking at decades of good stuff that ends up outweighing the bad.
But for now, he personally probably would have been better off without Bruce. Of course, if that was the case, a lot of other people would be dead and/or worse off, but that’s not really the question here.
Anonymous said: What's your analysis of Jason and Bruce's relationship?
Okay I got 500 words into this and then my motivation suddenly disappeared, so I’m just gonna... come back to this question next round, if that’s okay
Anonymous said: Got any Jason Todd whump angst fic recs?
Ah I don’t actually read any fanfiction except my own, so if you’re looking for outside stuff, I’m afraid I can’t help you :///
My Jason angst is here: 1 2 3 4
I think the first one is probably the closest to what you’re looking for?
Anonymous said: how would you characterize tim? if you were writing the comics or describing his character to someone I mean
Oh boy that’s a complicated question
As a kid, I think Tim was highly idealistic and very eager to help. He was (and is) super smart, compassionate, and self-sacrificing... the problem being that if you continually sacrifice yourself, bad things tend to happen.
Tim volunteered to become Robin because he thought that Bruce needed him. Since that point, Tim has lost a whole lot of people: his birth parents, several of his siblings, and a lot of his closest friends (Bruce and Dick were fake-dead, Damian died, Cass died twice but both times very briefly, Bart, Stephanie, Kon).
All of that death (plus the trauma of 18086403658 near-death experiences and witnessing crime up close on a daily basis) has made Tim into a different person now than he was at the beginning. To quote Tam Fox, “Tim Drake is the saddest person I’ve eve met.” To quote Tim, “I grew up.”
Most of those people came back, but that doesn’t really fix things.
Grief is a big part of it-- so is this sort of exhaustion that makes Tim a little bit more likely to break rules than the others. His gray area is bigger. He’s a lot like Bruce in that he can be pretty calculating, and sometimes he isolates himself.
Even so, Tim has a lot of meaningful relationships (see above), and he never completely lost his nerdy-ass sense of humor or his empathy. Losing his birth parents was bad, but he did gain a new family, and that’s been good for him. His biggest motivation is still to help other people, and he’s great at it.
Anonymous said: I don't know why but I'm craving some of your exquisite angsty hc's with a hopeful or good ending or outcome or whatever,if you have any I'm all eyes bruh.Hmm maybe dami?Just go wild!may the angst guide you "if don't feel like it ignore me darling<3"
Oh shoot I forgot to mention you in that Tim angst. Sorry bout that, but it was for you
In One Sitting - Rocky *Spoilers*
Today I watched all 6 Rocky films in one sitting. Shiznits this was a ride!!!!
Rocky (1976)
Tumblr media
What a great introduction to a character. I thought that the movie was going to be all training and all fighting. It was great to see the time that was put into developing him as a person. Most of this development was done through quiet scenes of reflection. Rocky walks the streets of Philadelphia throughout the entire film. These quiet moments put us into his shoes as he does the job that he is good at but that isn’t who he is, as he stops at the pet store to talk to Adrian, and as he visits with the various groups of people who hang out on the streets at night. Rocky is a man of the people and that is made abundantly clear during the film’s run time.
When we finally get to the training and the fighting, we really feel like Rocky has built himself up mentally for this. He needs this opportunity. He needs to be more than he is. He’s not a “bum”.
The fight with Apollo Creed is a tense brawl. Few movies give you such palpable and gritty fighting anymore.
After all of the build up, we are connected to Rocky as a man. We know what this fight means to him. It means leaving the life of mediocrity and becoming a legend. It really doesn’t matter that he doesn’t win the fight. What’s great is that the filmmakers know this and don’t even try to take away any of his glory. The announcer calls Creed the winner, but this audio is just barely in the background. We hear Rocky yelling for Adrian, they kiss, she says she loves him, and the film ends. Perfection.
Rocky II (1979)
Tumblr media
Deezamn! I didn’t think that first movie was going to be topped so quickly! Rocky II is a great follow-up to the first film and is a perfect representation of what is gained from watching a series in one sitting. This movie picks up right where the first left off. This felt like watching the next episode of a television show and it was very appreciated.
What we didn’t care to deal with in the first film, is dealt with here. We see the aftermath of their fight and we see how even though Apollo Creed was the winner, he still lost. The fight is tearing him apart, but as usual, Rocky is being positive. He treats his wife to a new home and fancy clothes. Sure he is spending way too much, but as we’ve seen in the past film, he’s earned a bit of splurging.
Creed shows his true colors here. I like that unlike in most films, they don’t have a point where they sit down and explain Creed’s tactics of boasting to the cameras. We know he wants to defend his title and even though Rocky isn’t always understanding why Creed is being so aggressive, the film respects us enough to see through the facade. His character is clearly mimicking Mohammad Ali with his taunting.
Again, when Rocky decides to go back to fight Creed, we see the filmmakers’ ability to trust the audience. There isn’t a point where Rocky talks about how hard it is for him to train knowing that Adrian isn’t happy with him. We get it! When she goes into a coma and comes out of it in full support of Rocky, we see his rise in enthusiasm. More filmmakers need to trust their audience to fill in the blanks without lengthy scenes of dialogue.
The final fight here is even better than the last. This is the most greasy fighting I've ever seen! I was losing my mind the whole time. I’m not even into sports, but I was jumping around and yelling at the screen like I was watching a real fight. The slow motion was used effectively with the closeups to show us how powerful these punches are, and when that final count is going on, I felt like my soul was going to launch out of my body because the suspense was so palpable!
I can’t wait for the next movie!!
Rocky III (1982)
Tumblr media
THE EYE OF THE TIGER!!!!
They must have paid a lot of money for that song because they didn’t stop saying “Eye of the Tiger” for more than ten minutes in this movie!
Rocky III was good, but definitely suffered from the inability to give us a BIGGER challenge for Rocky to overcome. Technically, Clubber Lang was a more powerful opponent than Apollo Creed. The issue is that the first two films involve Rocky climbing to the top from the bottom. Seeing a man at the top get beat once then win the second time just isn’t as gripping as it was before.
The final fight was exciting, but when he won, I wasn’t surprised. The stakes just weren’t there because we had seen what he could do twice before.
The real star of this movie was his relationship with Adrian. I love how much they grow in each film. After the awesome montage with that awesome song, we see the two of them in bed singing a song. Their relationship has never felt forced in three movies. I love them as a couple and when she gives him the big pep talk, she solidifies her place in his story. She is the reason he gets up in the morning. She has become such a strong figure from the timid individual she was in the beginning.
In the end, Rocky III was entertaining, but it has nothing on Rocky II. NEXT!
Rocky IV (1985)
Tumblr media
Wow, what a passive aggressive film!
I see the irony in that statement, yet it stands. This was a very entertaining film in context with the others, but it is clearly fueled by so much passive agression toward Russia that existed at the time. Just having Drago say “He’s not human. He’s like a piece of iron” says it all. Rocky trained like a man. Drago was indoors using machinery AND he’s been doping!
Speaking of training; that’s like 80% of this movie! The montages are great for sure, but they have twice as many as the previous film. Like I said, in the context of seeing all of these in one sitting, this movie was very entertaining. It felt like an action-packed 4th episode of a TV series. Unfortunately, as a film on its own, it lacked the substance that the previous films had.
There was little to no character development. Adrian rightfully had no reason to support this needless fight, but comes back later in support of it for no reason. Rocky himself had told Creed that he didn’t need to fight to prove anything. What if Rocky HAD died? Would it have been worth it?
The point of the film was the message toward Russia. Like I said, I enjoyed the fighting, but it was so clearly just about the Russians hating Rocky in the ring even though the Americans booed Drago too. The announcers talked about it like Russians booing was hateful. Then Rocky gives his big speech about change and everybody loves him.
The level of development was lower than III but the action was about on par, so I’d have to say this one wasn’t all that great unfortunately. There was a lot of distraction. From the long montages to the long musical numbers, they really dropped the ball here. I’m confident that this is just a low point though. They’ll pick it back up!
Rocky V (1990)
Tumblr media
ALRIGHT! They really listened! The best parts of Rocky are the characters and the slow moments! This movie was definitely a return to form.
It was odd that Rocky’s son grew like 4 years in the time it took Rocky to fly home from Russia, but I’m glad that he was a major focus of the film. Rocky has been a dad for a while now, but his kid was never a big part of the story. This was a welcome change. I really didn’t mind the additional characters that took up the spotlight here.
I gotta say, I REALLY loved this one! This is the most underrated Rocky movie! This movie gets lower reviews than II and IV! This movie was a great change of pace and was a logical arc for the character.
The ending fight with Tommy was absolutely perfect. IF they had made him go back into the ring for a big match in front of the world, it would have felt forced and unrealistic. This was the best way to hash out this conflict.
All in all, Rocky V is my third favorite out of this franchise so far. Let’s see if the next and final film can change the order here.
Rocky Balboa (2006)
Tumblr media
What a finale! Rocky Balboa was a wonderful conclusion to the series!
Like Rocky V, the film focused most of its attention on the character an not on the fighting. This film had some of the most powerful moments in the franchise, including the scene where Pauly regrets how he treated the now deceased Adrian.
I’m glad that the fighting and training was done realistically enough. Sure, there were parts here that felt a bit contrive, but in general, I believed that a man his age was able to hold his own in this fight. They didn’t just edit around his age like the Taken franchise.
Rocky Balboa was a thrilling and emotional end to the franchise. I’m very glad that I spent the day binging the series.
Let me know what suggestions ya’ll have for future In One Sittings. I do this because sometimes you have to see the whole story in one to really appreciate it. In my experience movies like Spider-Man 3 and X-Men 3 The Last Stand aren’t even THAT bad when put into the context of a single story. I look forward to the next review. Now I’m going to bed!
update? 11/15
ive binged SO BAD but i’m going to do my ABSOLUTE best this whole week before thanksgiving because there’s really no way to get out of eating and I honestly don’t want to just sit around being miserable because I’m beating myself up about whether I’m eating or not. Plus if I behave until then my stomach will have shrunk down a bit and I won’t be able to eat too much anyways.
i don’t feel all that different but I’m 4 lbs away from the first goal weight I set and I’m 7lbs away from the goal weight I really wanted to reach by Christmas. Not sure if I’ll get there, so maybe I’ll aim for my birthday if I don’t. (February)
I’m trying to be not so hard on myself because all it does is make me feel like shit and give up. There’s always tomorrow. I’ve already come so far.
And I can’t really see that much of difference, but medium shirts are fitting me like larges used to and size 5 jeans fit a little snug and my size 9′s just fall off. my 7′s that i got that fit tight in august are getting loose. I remeasured for my bra size today and it went from 36B to 30C/32D which made me kinda happy. I ordered a new, super cute (sexy actually) one (its like sheer black lace and mesh) for Christmas in a 32C (they didn’t have 30C or 32D)(but i mean i’ve been wearing a 36 when it should have been 30 so like i think 32 will be great.) I ordered two lace bralettes, too (one black, one white) . I got some nice undies a few weeks ago too from VS and some really good smelling lotions. now all i have to do is order 2 books and 2 movies and I’m set for Christmas. :D
anyways. I’m getting there. this week has been a setback, but I can get back on track.
