i know how to throw a proper punch - I’ve always been very strong, and I learned how to punch by doing boxing with one of my older cousins. many people talked bad about Andromeda after she was removed from the family in the summer before my seventh year at Hogwarts, and since I knew how to punch really well, I ended up sending a lot of kids to the hospital wing that year (probably a few hundred). After Sirius was removed from the family, I got in a lot of fights with my fellow death eaters because they were talking shit about him and it made me mad. Needless to say, people don’t DARE talk bad about anyone in my family anymore.

Dark Angels: Creation. Part 23, Guarding Truely. Crossover with Rekindled

Zav: *Sin had been immoveable about going to Caldwell. He’s our captain and the kingdom he’d had as a human he’d earned instead of inherited so being adamantly regal came naturally to him, but normally he could be reasonable if we had concerns. But not this time. None of us wanted him exposed at this point, but Sean’s concern had been specific. Something to do with the location. I didn’t like it, but when I’d touched my mind to Sean’s he’d only said ‘It’s personal to him. Leave it alone, Zav. I’m tapped into Declan. If they need help, I’ll know.’ Then he’d murmured something to Layla and misted back to the main house with her. With a dissatisfied grumble, I turn to the others.* I guess we have our assignments. Bryn, you good to finish the trap spell without me? Bryn: “Piece of cake angel-boy. I don’t even need you to help me set it. It’s just good old earth magick without any of your angel hocus-pocus,” Grinning at him saucily. Even though Zav’s magick was ethereal in nature, he had a solid understanding of how to use the power of the earth. Sean’s was as good, if he’d use it, but he wouldn’t. Empathic powers are borderline ethereal in how they work. They don’t require any spell work, or special tools. They just innately exist and they come from within. They’re stronger when he makes regular skin to earth contact to draw in the earth’s strength and bleed off stress but it seemed apparent to me he’d found another source that accomplished the same thing in his connection with Layla. It makes me wonder if emotions and empathic gifts are rooted in earth or ethereal magick. Something to explore when this is all over. As for Adrian… that boy makes me crazy. The grandson of a god and the original Oracle, he had gifts, but he wouldn’t use them. I guess the way they train Spartan boys made him want to just be ‘one of the guys’ and not call attention to the extra he had. He couldn’t control his occasional visions, but everything else he had an iron grip on. But he was a good man, in a fight and in his heart, so I didn’t push him on it. Funny. No one did. He was the most reticent of us, rarely talking about his past or his future. But who am I to talk? I exist in the ‘now’ and only the ‘now’. Looking back does no good and looking ahead is great for planning, but you can’t count on it. “Now if you three will all scoot,” making shooing motions with my hands, “I’ll get back to it. Just a few finishing touches and I’ll be ready. And when I do, it’s Sean I’ll need, not you, so don’t hurry back on my account.” Adrian: Turning to Zav and Celia, “Then let’s get going. I take it wherever we’re going, you two plan to make an entrance on your motorcycles? I want to scout ahead for signs this woman has been compromised.” Zav: We’re going to a small town in Oregon called Pascoe. We’ll mist to just outside of town and I’ll materialize my bike from its storage unit in Miami. Celia, you can ride pillion. Adrian, no early scouting. We stay together as much as possible. Once we get there, you can take a look around, but be careful. Demons can’t travel the half-world, but the Horseman’s boys can. We know demons have been doing their advance work, but I’m not making any assumptions. And watch our six. We know from the attack in Caldwell that they’re looking for us and aware we disappear from their radar. They just don’t know where we go when we do. They’ll be looking for us to reappear. Celia: “Whoa, whoa, whoa, wings,” holding my hands up in front of me. “I’m not riding behind you. I only ride pillion for Declan. After you get your bike from Miami you can reach out and grab mine from Hawaii. While I can demat anywhere I’ve already been if you guys need me, I’m going to be in the human world. I’ll need wheels. And a cover story. Have you given any thought to that? Adrian: I have to laugh at Celia’s reaction. She’d never taken 2nd seat to anyone except Declan in all the time I’ve known her. She even argues with Sin. And he lets her. I think on some level he even likes it. Maybe she reminds him of his late human wife. I’d understood from Zav that his queen had been a force to be reckoned with. Celia was certainly that. “You’re going to lose this one Zav. I’ll wait and split off from you two when we get into town to do recon. I’ll keep a channel open with you so you’ll know if I hit trouble the nanosecond it happens. *giving a small, reserved smile* But she’s going to get her bike. Celia, if you don’t mind, once he brings them to us, I’ll ride behind you as far as the city limits. Celia, you’re going to be a family friend considering relocating to the Pacific Northwest while your husband is deployed. All true as far as it goes, so it won’t be hard to keep it straight and if she asks questions you’re smart enough to be able to phrase the truth so it doesn’t spook her. Just keep in mind she thinks I’m an exclusive tattoo artist, not a soldier. Although I might have to find a way to let her know I’m in the “service”. *sighs* I don’t want to outright lie to her. It’s going to be hard enough to keep her from throwing me out when she finds out what I really am. If I lie to her on top of it all, I don’t think I’ve got a prayer. So we stick with the truth as far as we can, just phrase it so it sounds human. Celia: I fold my arms and shake my head at him, “You just can’t make things easy can you?” Sighing, “I get it. I do. If I’d found out Declan had lied to me about anything during our courtship I’d have kicked his butt. I’d /still/ kick his butt if he lied to me. But Zav, I’d have taken him back when he made it right. When it’s the one, you just know it. And you recognize that people make mistakes and what they do about them is more important than the fact they made them. Your girl…Truely is her name? If your girl is really holds your late wife Kalare’s soul, you’ll work through all of it.” Snickering, “Being a dead angel reaper won’t hold a candle to figuring out she’s had past lives, but the connection you have will convince her of it.” Adrian: Listening to Celia talk about soul connections brought up feelings I’d thought I’d buried a long time ago. I’d had that connection once. And turned away from it. Abruptly, I interrupt, “If we’re done talking about feelings here, let’s get on with it.” Focusing my mind on Pascoe, I dematerialize out. Celia: Looking at Zav quizzically, “Well that was odd as Hell. Did I hit a nerve?” Zav: *Shaking my head* I don’t know. Adrian keeps things to himself. He’s quiet. But he’s also gone on alone so we need to follow him ASAP. *Grabbing her hand, we mist out to find my destiny.*

Frequency was great and weird all at the same time.

I cannot even begin to explain it.  When I started reading, it brought to mind that old Pied Piper legend, but darker and more twisted, not that the old legend was sunshine and rainbows.

So here we meet Fiona as a young girl as she witnesses an interaction that has a huge impact on her. Go a few years later and we see Fiona meeting Pit Viper.

Just so you know Pit Viper is a DJ (our modern Pied Piper) and Fiona is very much into music, but their styles differ.

Things are not as they seem.

Luckily, Fiona is smart…

We have some interesting twists and surprises that is for sure.

As much I really liked Fiona, I really did not like Pit Viper.  There was something about him that was so off, I cannot even put my finger on it, but usually, I can always find something I can “relate” to in a character and this time my friends I am drawing a blank.

Maybe this is what made Frequency feel weird to me, but I can tell you for sure that it was very different from what I expected.

I like to be surprised from time to time and Frequency did that.

If you are keen on books that are a little different than what you would normally expect then Frequency is the one for you.  What I appreciated most about it is that my reaction to it was different and that makes it a standout.

I am certainly not likely to forget it anytime soon.

I am going to be recommending Frequency to you all, and I hope you love it as much as I did.
