Tumgik
#and not even in an endearing way like noisette
Note
Do you think noise is able to read the room and put a temporary end to his tomfoolery when the situation deems it to happen? Like i know Peppino can fold his ass like a cheap chair but is he capable of being like "ah this is a bad moment and i should not try doing anything right now"? Mostly thinking of the scenario if Peppino is having A Fucking Moment but not even angry just, very fucking upset for some reason, would the yellow imp still be like BLEEH 🤪? Silly context for this ask, i was chopping an onion and it made me think "what would noise do if he walked in peppino just bawling his eyes out?" btw 😭
Thank u for this ask bc this is like a sneak peek into the comic idea i had for the noise (and peppino)
Bc i think of Peppino as extremely emotional and unable to mask it AT ALL and that ranges from being incredibly angry to overwhelmingly sad and it will always hit him suddenly w the intensity of a wave crashing into him. So I wanted to have the noise kind of being A Menace and bothering Peppino and having it SOMEHOW lead to peppino going from ‘you dont fucking LISTEN u wont stop fuckin w me’ to ‘no one here leaves me the fuck ALONE why cant anyone anywhere leave me ALONE’ and hes like so fucking UPSET that hes tearing up and the noise is like ☹️!!!!
Like ‘um! Woah buddy im just playin around see? Its all part of the schtick !’ And he expects Peppino to lunge at him or something bc thats the game thats their little back n forth heehee but Peppino just grabs at his own hair and starts yanking at it and the noise is like WOAH Hold up stop that stop that what are u doing ??? And hes not quite sure HOW to interpret Peppino crying and gritting his teeth and pulling at his own hair other than ‘hes freaking the fuck out and i made that happen somehow’
To the noise, their little banter and back n forth and Very Scary Threats on Peppinos part is like a little game to him and he THINKS its mutual (bc Peppinos reactions are bordeline comical at times) but it is actually Very one-sided, and the only thing that would break him out of that ‘illusion’ is Peppino not holding up his supposed end of the duo act the Correct way. And that includes Peppino doing scarier than normal threats (chucking a knife at him and only missing by centimeters) or in this case, Peppino fucking breaking down in front of him instead of grabbing for his neck or something. He doesnt like it ☹️
#answered#chattin#peppino#noise#like. the noise is just fucking annoying#hes just a brat! with a bunch of money and a bunch of free time!#and everything is a little game to him bc he doesnt have to take shit seriously Ever#and peppino is like. so tired of dealing w him. hes a brat but hes just so fucking annoying#and not even in an endearing way like noisette#bc noisette doesnt Seek him out; she stays in her shop and shes just overly friendly when he visits#he is willingly accepting that walking in there will have him exposed to her loudness but like its of his own volition#the noise however…#and it goes from ‘this fucking brat wont leave me alone’ to ‘NO ONE leaves me alone’#and that includes everyone hes met in the tower#but it also is like a pent up anger and frustration of having to deal w this shop#collectors hounding his shop#my hc that pizzahead tried MULTIPLE times to buy his shop out#and tried MULTIPLE times to just hire peppino to work for him#and like peppino feels like everywhere he goes he is being chased out or stalked#and hes not the best person in the world and hes kind of a dick but like#hes just some dude that wants to make pizza and own a shop#and his whole life got flipped on his head once he decided to do that#and now hes got freaks that corner him in his own safe space and stalk him and dont take his want to be alone seriously#his space is Their space#and while the noise is just a small little part of this mess#he unfortunately is the one that accidentally tips him over#he would be SO upset 😭 hes sulking in noisettes shop just miserable#and noisette is like hmm. this is serious….have u tried saying sorry?#and hes like oh my god u are so fucking smart i love u#peppino would forgive him after a while. hes a bit of a softie (A LITTLE BIT....) and if noise tried to make amends; hes accept that

La passante de la Place des Vosges/ The Passerby of the Place des Vosges: in praise of Caitríona Balfe
I have recently discussed, in as much detail as possible without becoming completely boring, S's memoir Waypoints. It is, no doubt, an interesting strategic step, aiming to buy much needed time and respite from unwanted fan attention.
But if there is a memoir I would probably read in a very different, almost sentimental way, that would be hers, not his.
We have an enticing idea of the way she writes, with this lesser known essay published by the totemic NYT just a day shy of her birthday, in 2017: The First Time I Left Home (and Fell in Love), which you can read online right here - https://shorturl.at/uTX12. It is a short, dense piece with a deeply personal, even sentimental, view of Paris in autumn and spring. Something very unusual for the feisty, secretive, almost paranoid C we all know and love (admit it, you do: fair's fair). It immediately grabbed both my attention and highlighter.
Writing about Paris, especially from an Anglo-Saxon/American perspective, is a very tricky affair. So much has been said and done, from Janet Flanner's priceless Letters from Paris and Paris Journal, to Anais Nin, to Edmund White, to Hemingway, to Orwell - just to name the ones that immediately come to mind. In this particular case, we'd be dealing with a nice PR fine tuning detail, with a relatively short lifespan, aiming perhaps to reach a more sophisticated demographic than Twitter banter or a three minutes long Q&A about the current season's antics. But a wonderful detail, nevertheless.
The year is 1998. A young 19-year old Irish model wannabe just landed in the chaotic brouhaha of Roissy Airport and the first contact is brutal, language being a considerable barrier. But before that, we are treated to a masterful bistrot snapshot, with a cheeky, self-deprecating sense of humor. I mean how perfect is this?
Tumblr media
Quite a contrast to the dream version back home:
Tumblr media
Touché. All the moody young Frenchmen are named Pierre, C. All. Of. Them. As for watching far too many French films, there's always been something very Nouvelle Vague about you, Jeanne Moreau and Jules et Jim & all that, and I have to say this is what I found immediately endearing. I am not talking about Claire Fraser: it is you, emphatically you. The kind of impeccably dressed woman one can find pretending to read Le Monde at Le Café de Flore's terrace in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The kind of self-evident, celestial creature whose high heels are never heard on any pavement (what is your secret?). Late Jane Birkin didn't even come close, C., mark me. However, red lipstick stains look way better on the rim of a nervously half drunk cup of noisette coffee: but then, that is me.
It was not at all like that, of course, but then something happened just across the street from the Saint-Eustache church, at Quigley's Point, a long gone Irish pub I vaguely remember. Circa 1998, our own boisterous squad used to play darts and get plastered on cheap draft beer and that undignified, syrupy manzana Basque liqueur (idiots, I am telling you, but it was very cheap) at The Bombardier, on the Place du Panthéon, just across the Seine:
Tumblr media
Thick brogue, a quick laugh, kind eyes and blonde hair. An interesting combo, for sure. No further comment except well, this is very personal, isn't it? You've said it yourself: sometimes (fun fact: always) the really important people have nothing to do with fantasies. But we know, C, we know.
And then, suddenly, it all falls into place: Stendhal would talk about a crystallization moment. It is that split-second when everything becomes very clear. A pact of sorts occurs and all barriers are lifted. For C, it happened in one of the perfect places of this planet, spare perhaps the Piazza del Campo, in Siena:
Tumblr media
No doubt, by tomorrow evening at the latest, I will be crucified by Mordor, but this made me think of that - different setting and context, same type of seminal moment. Draw your own conclusions:
Tumblr media
(SRH, Waypoints, Day Four: The Hard Road)
Important things happen, too, Place du Panthéon and this moved me to bits, even if this was not a happy ending. So shamelessly glad it wasn't, by the way:
Tumblr media
For (and forgive me for ineptly tinkering with your words) "It’s true, you never forget your first love". And for that man on that random pavement in LA, that will always be you, passerby of the Place des Vosges. The wonder you are, despite anything else: it is perfectly irrelevant.
Jacques Brel says it best, in what is almost a prayer:

Pizza Tower Headcanons: Sleep
I've been sorting out my sleeping patterns lately, so here's how I imagine the cast are while sleeping
Peppino
Definitely the most cartoonish snorer. Snorts like a wild hog and then lets out the highest "mimimi" when exhaling. All for the best, really, since he can easily be spooked into insomnia.
Gustavo
He absolutely talks in his sleep. It can be funny listening to his sleepy nonsense. When out camping with the others, they heard him mumble some pretty silly things and had to hold in their laughter. Helps that he's a VERY heavy sleeper. Seriously, good luck waking him up.
Brick
Absolutely adorable. Likes to curl up next to Gustavo. Nobody wants to wake him.
Mr. Stick
Mumbles a lot. His bed is so uncomfortable that he legit prefers sleeping on the floor. Or in his chair, which he usually does, while drooling over his ideas for the fifth time thus week. Sometimes, he writes more while half-asleep and wakes up the next morning extremely confused.
Pepperman
Surprisingly, compared to his usual self, his sleep sounds are more of the "soft ASMR breathing" type. To the point people seriously want him to do ASMR. Too bad he's so huge that if one dares sleep next to him, they have to pray to God he doesn't turn over.
The Vigilante
A heavy snorer, but in an oddly calming way. It's not too loud and has such consistency it can actually put YOU to sleep if you listen long enough. Kind of like white noise. He doesn't sleep as much as he should, though. So it's kind of a shame. Also has a harder time sleeping on heavily rainy nights.
The Noise
Well, this guy lives up to his name. His snoring is so unbearably loud only his girlfriend can tolerate it. Speaking of which...
Noisette
She's surprisingly silent in her sleep. But that's the least of her boyfriend's problems. She tosses and turns like a feral animal and has accidentally hit The Noise in the face many times.
Fake Peppino
Well, uh... it sounds like he's... trying to emulate Peppino, but... the way he does it is so strange people legitimately can't describe what they just heard. Also, he sleepwalks. So that's a bonus for alarm.
Pizzahead
His snoring is also cartoonish but in a different way to Peppino's. He's the type to rapidly snore in the most stereotypical way people are legit surprised he's not pretending.
BONUS: OCs under cut (feel free to ignore if you don't care)
Maria
More ASMR breathing, but also a little bit of mumbling. She would never admit this to anyone but Vigi, but she likes to sleep with stuffed animals. Gets embarrassed when people bring up how adorable her sleeping habits are.
Clove
Has to cast a silencing spell on himself when sleeping because he has an awful habit of chanting incantations in his sleep. Almost burned the forest down once doing that. Can't sleep anywhere that isn't rocking, so he has a hammock.
Crevette
Completely silent. She had to train herself not to vocalise at all in her sleep so her vocal chords wouldn't get exhausted. Boy, does she pamper herself when sleeping, though. Eye mask, ASMR playlist, perfect temperature, etc.
Pizzawife
Another sleep-talker, but she tends to say some pretty disturbing things in her sleep, so it's nowhere near as endearing. Also, she once almost strangled Pizzahead hugging him in her sleep by accident, so that doesn't help.
Gustave OS (and Click)
He usually takes about 2 hours to recharge, so sleep isn't really something he does. Again, with Click, it's ambiguous if it's even alive, so...

Type of Venue: Cafe, Coffee roastery Cuisine: Modern Australian brunch, Vegetarian and Vegan-friendly Highly Recommended: Coffee, Smoothies, Bircher Muesli, Tofu Scramble, Autumn Greens Bowl, Vegan Oreo Peanut Butter Brownie
From little things, big things grow… And it all starts with World Vision Australia’s new hospitality venture, Little Things Coffee. Tucked in between automobile workshops and industrial buildings, this daytime cafe serves healthy and wholesome food and drinks inside its coffee roasting warehouse. Chosen as the flagship store and roastery for Little Things Coffee beans, this Blackburn cafe is paving the way for future hospitality ventures in Australia by the well known charity group. An admirable concept, all of the profits from Little Things Coffee are donated towards the charitable endeavours of World Vision Australia. Potentially one of the first of its kind in Australia, its inspiration is a similar World Vision-owned cafe in New York City, famously endorsed by Hugh Jackman.
Only having been open for 7 weeks, Little Things Coffee continues to be discovered by more locals each day, whether they work on the same street, or live close by. Its industrial setting fits in well with its surroundings, though it still lacks proper signage out the front. A handful of umbrella-covered tables and chairs front the venue, complimented by a strong focus on grey cement surfaces, and an open-vented ceiling. Rows of green pot plants add natural freshness and vibrancy to the otherwise regimented layout, whilst shelves are similarly lined with coffee brewing accessories and take-home packs of the Little Things Coffee blend varieties.
From a customer’s perspective, the cafe runs like a well-oiled machine with staff swapping friendly banter with customers, and food and coffee orders arriving in a timely manner. An air of professionalism and proficiency is sensed, which is no surprise given that Jacinta Price is at the helm. Seasoned within the hospitality industry, Jacinta is an experienced chef and restaurant manager, having worked in various restaurants and cafes throughout Melbourne, the most recent being at Fourth Chapter cafe in Prahran. Her love for learning and being innovative steered her to create the current menu at Little Things Coffee from scratch, whilst her entrepreneurial way of thinking is also a beneficial attribute when it comes to managing and running both the floor and the kitchen alongside her staff.
Following a vegan lifestyle, Jacinta is passionate about creating dishes that are vegan-friendly and health-focused, with her point of difference being that her vegan-inspired creations taste and look like the original, non-vegan varieties, and satisfy your hunger cravings for hours thanks to the use of wholesome, low-GI ingredients. However, non-vegans can rejoice, as the menu still features animal-derived products in the form of eggs, dairy, prosciutto and smoked salmon, available in meals or as add-ons. The decadent Croque Madame is one such example, made with Noisette Bakery brioche bread, bechamel sauce, ham, gruyere and a fried egg. There are some classics that you just can’t alter.
For a non-vegan such as myself, I was excited to brunch a little differently and try some of the menu’s vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free items. A handful of wholesome sweet dishes feature on the menu, with more decadent options (think, pancakes or hotcakes…) to be added in the future. The Bircher Muesli was my sweet pick for the day, made with oats, almond milk and coyo, garnished with a vanilla poached pear, figs, blackberries, a pecan crumble and rose petals. The various textures and use of seasonal fruits decadently compliments the soft-soaked oats, mildly resembling a cold temperature version of porridge that has been expertly cooked with a slight bite.
Bircher Muesli ($15.00)
An exciting salad comes in the form of the Autumn Greens Bowl, showcasing a mixture of quinoa, roasted pumpkin, spinach, kale, dill, avocado, seeds and almonds, tossed in a tahini dressing, and served with a smear of white bean hummus along the side of the bowl. Delicately balanced in terms of seasoning and textural consistency, every ingredient in this salad has a purpose, enhancing the enjoyment of devouring such a nourishing bowl. Special mentions go out to the softness of the roasted pumpkin, enabling the knife to slide right through it without any resistance, and to the intentional roughness of the white bean hummus, promoting a false sense of indulgence in its nutritious conception.
Autumn Greens Bowl ($15.00) + added Poached Egg ($2.00)
A clear example of Jacinta’s imaginative expertise, the Tofu Scramble features tofu as the main ingredient instead of egg, with an addictive crunchiness provided by chopped tomatoes, onions, capsicums and mushrooms, all seasoned with various spices (including soy and turmeric) to give it a fine-tuned balance of salty, sweet, sour and umami flavours. Finished with coriander, Noisette Bakery sourdough bread and a zingy side serving of relish, I would order this dish time and time again, it’s that good.
Tofu Scramble ($17.00) + added Macadamia Fetta ($3.00)
To help quench your thirst, the Little Things Coffee blends are deliciously creamy and smooth, with a rich finish that lingers on the palate. Their range of blends are available to buy on location, with an emphasis on small batch roasted blends to not only produce a concentrated flavour of the coffee bean, but to also respect the sustainable farms on which the beans are grown. The Probat 12kg and 25kg machines in which the beans are roasted can be seen next to the dining area of Little Things Coffee, alongside mesh bags of beans piled high.
Of the non-coffee variety, Pink Rose Latte presents pretty as a picture, exhibiting a light, floral taste from the use of rosewater syrup, with its distinct pink colour a result of beetroot powder, and the use of oat milk following the vegan theme.
Pink Rose Latte ($5.00)
It’s rare to come across a cafe that doesn’t make their own smoothies, and Little Things Coffee is no different from the majority. Banana Espresso is a blend of almond milk, vanilla plant protein, almond butter and granola, whilst the Mango Coconut contains coconut milk, macca, cashew butter and frozen mangoes. These smoothies are perfect to sip on during warmer weather, as they have a cooling effect that keeps you coming back for more.
Banana Espresso Smoothie ($9.00) + Mango Coconut Smoothie ($9.00)
For a little sweet treat, the display of house baked treats such as Vegan Peanut Butter Oreo Brownies, Courgette & Lime Cake, and vegan Hot Cross Buns are accompanied by ACE Cookies and Noisette Bakery croissants and pastries. In house baked treats change daily depending on the demand, whilst a selection of sandwiches and daily-fresh salads entice local workers seeking a quick lunch back at the office.
A seemingly nondescript venue from its plain black exterior, Little Things Coffee is anything but. Its humble presentation is actually an endearing factor, much like many of Melbourne’s best eateries hidden amongst its many laneways and basements. The kempt condition of this contemporary cafe, along with the impeccable presentation and flavours of its ingestible offerings, make this cafe a must-visit whether you live near or far. Rivalling many of Melbourne’s trendy cafe’s located in the city and inner northern suburbs, Little Things Coffee puts Blackburn on the foodie map. And the fact that all proceeds go towards World Vision Australia makes a visit even more worthwhile.
Note: I dined as a guest of Little Things Coffee. Thank you to World Vision, Jacinta and her team for their generous hospitality throughout our experience.
