Purple Portals Are A Hazard OR How To Deal With AU Bullshit When It's Your Job Technically
Summary: Bonnie Bennett was enjoying a quiet day in, cup of hot cocoa in hand, fluffy blanket and her favourite comfort movie ready to begin when her best friend started spamming her phone. Damon Salvatore was dealing with a recent break-up, his first love turned current hell bunking with him for an as yet unforeseen time and a quickly dwindling supply of bourbon.
Neither were prepare for someone to literally fall from the skies - aka broom closet - today, but alas this is the hand they were dealt. Roxy, the having fallen out of a closet person in question meanwhile, seemed to be far more in her depth then anyone thought she should be and enjoying all of this way too much.
Prologue Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 5 Chapter 6
CHAPTER 4 (LINK TO AO3)
Bonnie felt like she was living a fever dream.
It had been a few hours since three people dropped into the Boarding House, one of which herself, and Bonnie had not yet found the mental fortitude to go back home. Damon was off somewhere in the house, likely pacing, but Bonnie preferred to remain in the library for a bit longer. It was quiet now, the whole house really, and she needed this small moment of quiet. She absentmindedly looked at the clock on the wall, sighed, rubbed her shoulders as a brief breeze chilled her and then settled back down. Caroline and Stefan should be returning soon, she knew, and she figured she’d be there to explain the situation since she couldn’t get the fortitude to go back home yet. Damon had offered her a room - her room from back in 1994 Prison World in fact - in case she wanted to spend the night, so she figured it wouldn’t be that big a problem. And the guests had gone away for now, settling in their new rooms themselves, packed close together, on the farther side of the Boarding House from the usual residents. Bonnie thought she saw Katherine stand guard around that area - the doppelganger was just as out of her depth here as Bonnie herself it seemed, and what did that say about Bonnie that she was comforted by the thought.
“Bon Bon, you ok?” Damon’s voice was low, barely above a whisper as he walked into the room, rounding the small staircase down to where Bonnie was sitting on an armchair. He looked better than he had some hours ago. He’d changed his shirt - donning a plaid shirt he’d scrunched out of the boxes in the attic after Bonnie returned home from 1994 - and it made her smile just a bit, to see that he too needed the comforting presence of the past sometimes.
“I don’t know.” she replied after a moments’ hesitation. She and Damn didn’t pretend with each other anymore, hadn’t since that day a month into 1994 when both had had a breakdown - or perhaps breakthrough - so she quieted the voice in her head that told her to make up something, to lie about being fine with what’s happened today. Damon nodded, squeezed her shoulder as he passed her by to pour himself a glass of bourbon, and then settled on the floor by her legs, his back to her knees and shins, head tilted to look up at her. Bonnie shifted in her seat to accommodate him, one hand falling into his hair and the other on the arm of her seat. If she was surprised by his actions she gave no indication outside of a soft exhale when he’d settled. Daon didn’t do this often, Bonnie knew, but he’d done it a few times in 1994 and once or twice since returning home - each time after a particularly grueling emotional day.
“I think Roxy is married to me.” he mumbled after a quick swig of his glass. Bonnie just turned her gaze to him, eyebrows furrowed. “Her shirt. I own a shirt like that - small hole in the arm and all from where I got hit once.” he expanded and Bonnie hummed in understanding. She’d figured something had to be tied to him - Bonnie and Katherine had replicas, Damon couldn’t have had nothing right?
“Is that a problem?” she wondered aloud. She knew he wasn’t taking his break-up from Elena well. He’d been essentially blindsided by the whole argument that ultimately led to it - even if both himself and Elena agreed to split. In his words, the resentment had snuck up on him and he hadn’t realized how bad it’d gotten until Elena mentioned her father while coming back from a date night and he’d said something snarky in reply. Which only allowed Elena’s resentment to rise to the surface. In the aftermath, both had found themselves unable to continue the relationship and mourning what had once been a strong friendship, now in tatters. Neither was taking it well and couldn’t figure out where it had all gone wrong it seemed. Bonnie was wondering if either realized how little love they still held for each other when they spoke of it - she and Care had taken notice that’s for sure - but she sure as hell wasn’t going to mention it to him now or Elena when they saw each other again. It wasn’t any of her business ultimately, and she hoped they’d build themselves up on their own - they were both strong enough to do so.
“Mmm, dunno.” he slurred, not drunk, but sleepy it seemed. “I don’t know how I feel.”
“Well, are you sad about it? Angry? Happy maybe?”
“Bit of all, I think, but it’s muddled, like they’re all a sludge in my head, you know?” he replied. “Wonder what Stefan will think of this?”
She let out a soft chuckle at the wiggling eyebrows he sent her way, and shrugged. She was wondering the same about Caroline.

Roxy was in her designated room with Kat and Bonnie, acutely aware that somewhere very close down the hall was Katherine spying. She wondered if she realized Bonnie put a silencing spell over the room as soon as the door closed, but she probably did and didn’t care.
“So the portals are blocked off now?” Kat wondered, settling on the bed, head resting on a pillow and body curling around where Bonnie was resting against the headboard.
“Yeah, shouldn’t have anymore people falling through now.” Rox answered, jumping on the mattress at the foot of the bed then instantly regretting it as the four bags of blood she’d consumed made the room spin. There was a reason she didn’t like to overindulge on blood - it hit her worse than a kid of sugar high and crashed harder than one as well. “Ugh, I think Imma be sick.”
“Not on the bed, Rox” Bonnie cautioned, nudging her arm with her foot, no mercy in her bright green eyes. Kat laughed at Roxy’s pain and high-fived the witch, before resettling on the bed more firmly. Roxy turned on her side, facing her friends. She hadn’t meant for anyone else to get pulled through. She’d figure the portal would close once it pulled her in, like they usually did, and then keep her there for a couple of days of fun and spit her back out home with no one any the wiser. Now, with Bonnie and Kat here, it became clear this universe was a bit different. For one, time was still moving back home - not anything too special about that to be honest, but inconveniencing nonetheless - and the universe seemed to be hungry for more. She hadn’t lied to Damon downstairs, universes didn’t like outsiders moving in, but in rare cases, some universes took an almost malicious enjoyment out of dragging as many people through when they bumped together. And Kat had been pulled in as she was getting Irina from kindergarten, for fucks sake - her daughter, that she’d never thought she’d get a chance to have, even after Nadia had become a staple in Katherine’s life, who she’d given birth to and got to raise and love and spoil and watch her play with her much older sister and just be a part of her life. Talk about malicious. Not to mention, by all intents and purposes, Bonnie had been going on a date. Not another one and done night of fun, nor a quick time limit event until she left town again, but something that might actually turn into a long term partnership. She’d been meeting with Enzo, after all. Enzo, who she’d had a crush on for the past year, who, Roxy knew - from her husband, who was as irredeemable a gossip as Caroline no matter how much he liked to protest the fact - had had feelings for the woman for at least as long. And now both were stuck here, in an alternate universe, just because Roxy was a part of their lives-
“Hey! Stop that” Bonnie told Roxy, a frown on her face. A quick look at Katherine revealed she too seemed unhappy about where Roxy’s brain decided to go.
“Sorry.” the woman mumbled, falling on her back again. She could feel her heart beating - pounding in her ears and her chest so strong that if she didn’t know better she’d have thought the sheer strength of it was shaking the bed entirely - and the minute tremors in her libs as the blood settled slowly. She wondered if Kat ever experienced this kind of high - having become the type of vampire Roxy was nearly 6 years ago as a last ditch effort to save her then human, quickly aging life. Kat had never said anything the like and Roxy knew she drank far mor blood and far more often than Roxy did - she’d always kind of forgot she needed to drink blood for months on end only to nearly die from a papercut because she’d been this creature for so long she couldn’t be bothered to remember. “I’m really sorry, guys” she tried again, a lump forming in her throat and eyes closing as the sting of tears threatened to overspill.
“We’ll get home, Rox, it’s fine. We always do when this happens, and it’s not like we haven’t done this before.” Bonnie reassured, leaning to hold Roxana’s hand and causing Katherine to grumble when her position lying on the bed was disturbed by the movement. Still, the other vampire extended her leg to push at Roxy’s, as though to reaffirm Bonnie’s words in the laziest way she possible could - she’d been more laid back since becoming another type of vampire, likely the lack of constant bloodlust and heightened emotion if Rox were to put an explanation on it.
“Plus, imagine the mess we could cause here Rox!” Katherine added, suddenly standing up. She waited for a reply, but neither woman was looking at her, so, hit with a sudden wave of energy, she settled herself over Roxy, framing her between her arms and knees, face leaning down. “Did you see the look on my face when we flirted?” she whispered, her body now flush with Roxy as the woman shook with barely repressed laughter.
“Sure did, why?” Roxy managed between giggles.
“I’m 500 years old and repressed in this universe Rox, I wanna blow her fucking mind!” she declared, before bending to kiss Roxy on the lips, closed mouthed, but clearly intimate, a grin pulling at the corner of her lips.
“Kat! I already told them I married into the Salvatores” Roxy admonished halfheartedly, laughter causing her to stutter.
“You can still flirt though, not like we don’t do it with Damon or my hubby around, or like they complain.” Kat argued back, having allowed her weight to fully sink into Roxy’s body.
“Bon, bit of help here?” Roxy whined, pretending to struggle to breathe under Katherine’s weight.
“Damon doesn’t care. Nor does Hiro. Plus you two have a long standing joke of getting married, complete with wedding dresses already bought, Rox.”
“Traitor.” but she was grinning. “Plus I’ve made out with Kitty Kat before getting with Dee, so I guess it wouldn’t be lying to her per se?”
“See, we can flirt as friends!”
“What did I do to get stuck with you two?” Bonnie’s long suffering reply was the last straw, the three burst out laughing as soon as her words settled into the air.
“We’re home!” their laughter paused, Caroline’s voice carrying through to their room, then began again. Poor Caroline had no idea what she’d just walked into. And, as Roxy and Katherine’s eyes met, mischievous glints in their gazes, neither did Stefan. Bonnie almost felt sorry for their hosts as she trailed after her friends whose hands were intertwined, wry grin as she watched the Katherine of this universe nonchalantly descend the stairs after them to introduce themselves to the two new hosts.

How can you talk bad things about Daon and Shinwoo? They're both in complicated situations.
Daon is the sweetest guy, he's really nice and polite and he cares a lot, but he obviously has his own problems; we already know he's dealing with something at home (apparently related to his parents) which is probably the reason why he acts the way he acts around people. Those things about him not being able to say 'no' or trying to please everyone in order to keep them happy (but somehow hurting them in the end). He's amazing but i think he's also very sad, you can't hate him because he's too nice or because you think he's fake. There's actual people who are like him.
I don't know what's going to happen in the next episodes but in my opinion and from what i can tell so far, Daon isn't faking his kindness or anything. He's genuinely kind but some people just take too much from him and he feels obligated to do the things he's asked to do, because he doesn't want to hurt anyone and something happened to him that made him that way.
I somehow get why people would think 'he's too nice it's suspicious' but it's clear he sometimes does things he doesn't want to do; his emotions show in his face even if it's only for a second. It's not like the show is trying to hide there's something going on with him.
As viewers who genuinely enjoy the show, we need to understand the characters and think why would they be the way they are or do this or that.
On the other hand there's Shinwoo. He's also really sweet and a nice guy, but it's harder for him to do and talk about things.
His personality might be like that, but there's that scene with the middle school classmates where they mention shinwoo's 'secret' which is probably about him being gay given that the guy also questioned him about taekyung being his bf as a way to mock him. It was there for a reason.
There's no way you can talk bad about him or say that he's toxic; it's not fair to say he lacks personality because his only trait is him liking taekyung or that he's just the bad guy the main character always ends up with because they lack good taste. Shinwoo is actually pretty much different from those. He might come off as rude sometimes but it's not because he wants to; he's an introvert, it's difficult for him to say the things he wants to say or do the things he wants to do without overthinking. He might feel frustrated because he's not able to do so, and sometimes that leads him to do stuff he doesn't intend to do but he can't really clear up those misunderstandings because it's hard for him to talk about it and it's possible he thinks it's better if he just leaves it like that and doesn't make everything worse. And on top of that, whatever happened to him in middle school for sure affected him, and no, it's not fair to say that's cliché or stupid or repetitive. Noh Shinwoo is built like an actual person who can go through those situations, which could most likely affect a big part of your life, behaviour and personality. It's clear Shinwoo wants to be in a better place and that's why he's making an effort.
If some of you can't see his personality it's only because you don't want to. There's no way you can look at him and think he's only a love interest.
My point is, Shin Daon and Noh Shinwoo are both characters with personalities and lives that a lot of people in the real world have. I feel like that's what makes Light On Me different from most dramas with the same theme; it could've gone wrong with them but it didn't because they didn't write them as characters that are simply heroes or villains or whatever you want to call them. Their actions are not unjustified, they're not like that just because they want to. Just like real life, there are things that change you and build you as a person.
They're both good people with opposite personalities that are going through different situations and people can easily put themselves in their shoes. I'm sure the whole purpose is for us to see their journey towards a better path. Regardless of any romantic relationship, i think they're going to show how all of them have a big impact on each other; all the main characters are very different from each other but i honestly think that's the best part about it. They have the power to influence one another in a really good way and become happier and more free.

Anon from before.
Yeah, they won't be any poly ship, which pains me. And even though I lean more towards Shin Woo, bc of personal preference.
And as you have pointed out, it will crumble and ShinWoo will probably be endgame ? I am not ready to see Daon being hurt. He deserves so much.
I love Namgoong so much that I want him to be together with Sohee, I really do not like her. I think ShinWoo said it best when he said to her, it isn't about owning people. She is so controlling and feels entitled to have someone.
Oh I have totally forgot about BLIH, that will be weird, still don't know that the ex is here for ???
I am very saddened that the world of BL isn't quite ready for polyship. But, then again, the world is barely ready for polyships in general so I suppose I can't complain too much. That's what fanfiction and headcanons are for! I'll just keep writing these three in love regardless.
I do think that Daon's inability to say no is going to be what kills their relationship. He can't treat Taekyung special, even when he wants to, because he can't turn anyone down. No one can be special enough if you can't say no. You can't say yes to anything. And that's Daon's biggest weakness and what's going to end his relationship... most likely.
I think Namgoong is the only person that can genuinely talk to Sohee and convince her she's wrong. She sees Taekyung as competition and Shinwoo as the person who could help her solve her problems and Daon as hers... but Namgoong? Namgoong can talk to her. She can listen to him.
I don't like her very much but I wouldn't mind a redemption arc for her to learn what she's been doing wrong.
BLIH is gonna be so sweet and soft. IT HAD BETTER BE, DAMNIT, WE'VE EARNED IT. And I actually think the ex was there to see if Yu Zhen still loved him... and seeing him having moved, has decided to use his manipulative powers to help him find his love.
I just want them to be adorable.

Title: Just Friends
PROLOGUE
“Daon! Shin Daon! Daon-a! Wait for me!”, that was Jinwoo calling Daon. Jinwoo is a lower classman from the same department of Daon but he never called Daon as his senior (sunbae). “Oh! Jinwoo-a! I didn’t hear you because I was listening on to something.” Daon as always, is being so warm hearted. He had changed a lot from his high school years, but he is still the same but better. “I didn’t figure that out and I was shouting so hard from a far.” There was Jinwoo, gasping for air while holding to Daon’s arm. “I’ve been listening to the podcast you suggested to me last night. It was funny and relatable at the same time.” He was there smiling again. Jinwoo saw his smile, he blushed, and his heart is racing fast. He couldn’t figure out if it was because of him running or is it because he saw his crush’s smile at him. He let go of his hand and stood up properly and shyly, “It’s good that you liked it. I know it is something that you would appreciate.” They continued walking. They are on their way to the department’s cafeteria.
Jinwoo is a sophomore in Statistics. Daon is now on his Junior year in Mathematics. They are the same age that is why Jinwoo doesn’t call Daon as Sunbae (senior) or Hyung (older brother). “What’s your next subject Jinwoo?”, Daon asked while they were eating lunch. “I have a class at the General Education department, I’m taking English 101.” Jinwoo answered. “That will be easy for you because you stayed in the US for so long.” Jinwoo studied his elementary to high school years in California. He was admitted to the Statistics department of CalState but he decided to go back in Korea. That’s why his a little behind due to curriculum difference. “I suck at formal English studies.” He replied to Daon. “You’ll still do alright”. Daon reached out to Jinwoo’s head and tap it. Jinwoo is blushing again. “It is almost fall but I can feel the heat on my body.” that was on Jinwoo’s mind. Even they are the same age, Jinwoo is quite young looking. He is a little short and can qualify as a high school freshman. “Ho-how about you? What is your next class?”, he is still blushing. “I have no class this afternoon, my professor cancelled it due to a personal emergency. But why are you turning red? Are you okay?”. “Ye-yes, I’m okay.”
CHAPTER 1: That’s why we are friends
Jinwoo had a crush on Daon since his freshman orientation day. Daon was one of the volunteers to help welcome the freshies. He has been always active in department activities and still a top student. Summer of Jinwoo’s freshman year, there was an outing trip for the students of the department. As a typical college student, they had fun. He got so drunk, and he confessed his feelings for Daon, and he kissed him. Daon being shocked, stood still and didn’t know how to respond. He had so many confessions before, but he never experienced a confession like this. Jinwoo then cried. Daon panicked because his shift of emotions was too rapid. Daon assisted him to be seated and got him some drinks to help him sober up. They were facing the beach. “Daon-a, I liked you from the moment I saw you. You are so likeable, and your smiling face is so bright. What in heaven are you even?! Bu-but I know you won’t like me back. I’m a nobody. I’m a failure. I’m nothing.” Jinwoo started sobbing again. “Jinwoo-a, sorry if couldn’t really reciprocate your feelings. I too have my own priorities right now. But do know that you are still worthy of being loved.” Jinwoo fell asleep suddenly. He fell at Daon’s lap. Daon being caring let him sleep on his lap for awhile why he enjoys the cold summer breeze and the sound of the splashing waves. Jinwoo remembered everything he said that night, but he couldn’t remember what Daon’s reply. He fell asleep because of too much alcohol. After that he became too shy to approach Daon.
“Daon-a, I would like you to free your schedule this Saturday night.” Daon’s father and mother are home from their businesses abroad. “We will be having dinner with a close friend of mine and his family.” Daon always wanted to spend time with his family. They are not very close, but they are closer than before. “Yes father, I will free my schedule.” He didn’t ask who they will be meeting but it was always like this. They have been meeting their family friends here and now. Daon doesn’t really mind. When he started college, his parents weren’t imposing unlike before. They were more sensitive on his feelings as well, but they still have some awkwardness between them.
“Jinwoo-a this is the head of the Shin family, greet them.” Jinwoo’s mother introduced him. “Hello uncle, I’m Kim Jinwoo, I’m glad to meet you.” “Nice to meet you, I would also like you to meet my son Shin Daon.” Jinwoo blushed so hard. “I-is this the Shin Daon that I know?”, Jinwoo was thinking and anxious. He is still bowing. He was afraid that when he raised his head, he will see Daon, he who was avoiding for some time now. “Hello, I’m Shin Daon, I’m glad to meet you as well auntie.” Jinwoo raised his head and he saw Daon, smiling at him. “My husband had just finished an important client meeting. He is on his way now. Sorry for keeping you wait.” Jinwoo’s mother explained to everyone. Indeed, Jinwoo’s dad is busy, but this was already planned, and this is an important meeting. “It’s okay, I know that your husband is a diligent man, that’s why it’s a little hard to meet with him.” Jinwoo is trying to look away from Daon and act like nothing happened. “Oh, before I forget, Jinwoo and Daon must be on the same age. Jinwoo is studying in XYU and majoring in Statistics. He loved this major, that’s why we let him study it.” Jinwoo is now blushing but still trying to hide his expression. “Daon is studying Mathematics in XYU as well. Have you met before?” Daon’s mother asked. “Actually, we have met already because we are from the same department.” Jinwoo flinched and just nodded. He really doesn’t know what to do. “Sorry I’m late, did everyone greet each other already? Let’s eat! I’m famished” Jinwoo’s dad exclaimed.
Daon and Jinwoo are now in the balcony of restaurant. They were encouraged by their parents to get to know each other. Their parents have other business matters to talk about as well. “Jinwoo-a, how are you? You were so silent this whole time.” Jinwoo seating a little far from Daon and couldn’t look at his face. “I’m do-doing fi-fine, I guess.” Daon turned his head to Jinwoo, “Are you still feeling embarrassed on what happened on the beach that night?” Jinwoo was shocked because Daon opened about it. “Jinwoo, I’m really sorry if couldn’t reciprocate your feelings for now but I don’t want us to be awkward. Can we be just friends?”
