Want to Create Luxury Interiors on a Budget? Follow These Tips!
With our homes being the place where we spend most of our time, it makes sense to create a space that we can enjoy both practically and visually. However, when the budget is tight, it is not always possible to splurge on the most attractive designer furniture or luxury home accessories. This is wherein your creativity can come into play, and you will be thrilled to realize that anybody can enjoy an elegant looking home with minimum expenses. For those trying to decorate their living area on a budget, right here are some interesting ideas to make any room look deceivingly luxurious.
Tumblr media
Find Your Furnishings Online!
Your furniture not only provides you a place to sit, lounge, or sleep in your home, but it also plays a major role in the look and feel of a room. Brand new pieces can be stunningly attractive but also costly, so it is worth considering other options.
One possibility is to shop around online, as it can be very easy to find a bargain there. This is where a little creative effort on your part comes in - browse through different platforms, look for a large variety of products, and know what exactly fits your need. You can also compare the prices of the chosen product amongst different online stores and get yourself an exciting discount or deal.
Redo Your Existing Accents!
Both decorating accessories and giving it a brush of color can work wonders for a piece that has a perfect structure yet a little on the older side. You do not need to invest in luxury fabrics either, as many online stores offer a range of colors and textures at discounted prices, and remodeling is a job you can accomplish yourself.
Try Splashes of Wall Paint!
The designs and hues of your walls are also a major factor that can create a feeling of luxury or make a room look cheap and old-fashioned. Good colors to choose are bright whites and dark neutrals, which will create a smart and stylish modern look to be accented by simple and inexpensive touches.
Install Stylish Curtains and Drapes!
Next in line to create the feel of luxury interiors on a budget are your curtains. These can make or break the fashion of the room, so it's worth putting thought into the selections you make. Browse luxury curtain fabrics available from reputable online retailers to get the best price.
To complement your white or neutral walls, opt for colors that fit into a modern and elegant color scheme, and avoid heavily patterned fabrics and flimsy or cheap materials. All of these can spoil the classy feeling of a room, especially as they are often a focal point for the eyes.
Try Adding Elegant Decoratives!
When you have the walls, furniture, and windows covered, it is now time to add little touches of luxury to add personality and pops of style to your home. Consider investing in simple yet elegant accessories such as glass vases and lamps that give off an air of elegance.
As with your paint and eclectic fabrics, you don't necessarily need to spend a lot to create an appealing look in your home -online stores will provide you with ample choice to find luxury home accessories that will fir your interior decor perfectly.

Creating a home takes time, but it doesn’t need to be expensive. Bringing together a mix of different furniture at various pricepoints is not only more economical, it’s also a way to inject personality into the space… because no one wants to live in an impersonal ‘showroom’ looking space. By sourcing contrasting pieces from various stores, as well as incorporating vintage finds, handcrafted details and one-off items, your space becomes truly unique!
The key is knowing what items are best to invest in, and where you can really save… and how to tie it all together!
Start with a plan
It sound obvious, but starting with a plan really is what sets considered interior decoration apart from, well, just filling a room with random stuff.
Start with some references. If you’ve been saving favourite spaces on Pinterest or Instagram, take a moment to review those photographs. What is it that appeals to you about these spaces? Try to identify recurring colours, shapes or materials that you are drawn to, and use this as a starting point for your own space.
Next, decide on a colour and materials palette. In this space we have cool green walls, and mainly neutral textiles with blond timber furniture, and some black and white accents. Having a cohesive base palette like this ties together pieces from a range of different price points and styles.
Where to splurge, and where to save
Our wishlist of things to ‘invest’ in seems to get ever longer; the sofa, artwork, rug and of course lighting. But what about the items where we can afford to save? They are REALLY worth knowing!
I tend to think it’s worth investing a little more in pieces that get more physical wear, like upholstered furniture than you actually sit or sleep on, whilst seeking out more cost effective options for shelving, tables and side tables, which tend to be more robust and hard wearing.
A coffee table can be any flat surface for your coffee, and a few magazines! This is a piece of furniture that doesn’t need over-thinking, it’s a great piece to save on.
Shelving is one of the largest pieces in the room and therefore can be very impactful. However, shelves are chameleons, they change their look depending on what is displayed. A simple, versatile shelving unit like the Koala Timber bookshelf is easy to dress up with favourite objects, ceramics, glassware and other treasures. Shelving like this forms a neutral backdrop that allows these interesting, conversational pieces to be the focal point.

Choose a statement piece – and build around it
Choose one piece that has lots of personality and really elevates the space, and balance this ‘hero’ piece with more simple, versatile pieces.
For instance, in this space our sofa is our investment piece – its bold sculptural shape adds WOW factor to this room, but that drama is balanced by the sleek, minimal Koala shelving.
Your hero piece could be any distinctive piece of furniture or lighting (or even a rug) – the key is, to make this piece your focal point, and then build more understated pieces around it. These reliable pieces are like the back-up singers in your show (!), they’re functional and versatile, and make the whole room actually work!

Embrace the blanks
When decorating any room, it can be tempting to think you need stuff in every corner, and on every shelf. In fact, it’s important to give key furniture pieces, artwork and treasured objects some breathing space, to really let them shine.
When decorating surfaces or filling bookshelves, group similar objects together in small clusters, and leave some spaces in-between. Use books both vertically and horizontally in small stacks, to seperate objects and to display items at different heights.
Most importantly – remember, you don’t need everything all at once! A home is a work in progress. It’s ok to start out with a few empty spots, whilst you slowly build your furniture, artwork and homewares collection. The space should be a reflection of you – layered with pieces collected over time.
The new Timber Bookshelf range from Koala is a contemporary, versatile shelving system designed to complement a variety of spaces, and can be assembled with no tools in under 10 minutes! View the range here.

A Good Day to Save Lives pt.6
Tumblr media
Pairing: BTS x reader
Genre: Yikes
Word Count: 6,890
PREVIOUS CHAPTER  ¦  NEXT CHAPTER
1 month after the events of pt.5 - present day
“This is like that time you pulled my hair while we were having sex because you thought I had some sort of hair pulling kink you freak.” Jungkook is currently holding the back of his head while giving you a ‘no it’s not’ face. You had just pulled on a lock of his hair so hard he nearly fell backwards from the force of your tug. You had slipped on a small puddle of water that he had left on the ground instead of wiping up. Naturally your hands went towards the nearest thing to your body to avoid falling. You had successfully kept yourself up by grabbing onto his hair giving yourself enough time to latch your own falling body onto his. Luckily he reacted quickly enough to hold both of you up.
“This is nothing like that. I was literally balls deep inside of you trying not to explode because you were too lazy to walk 5 minutes to the nearest convenience store for condoms. I thought it would turn you on. Besides, I don’t think you were complaining about it at the time.“ The smug look on his handsome face makes you want to tug on his hair again just to see him scowl in pain one more time but you settle for slamming the refrigerator door into his side as you open it. Your eyes scan the inside of the fridge for something to snack on before you get ready to go to the gym with Jungkook. You spot the grapes sitting on the top shelf in a brand new glass container.
“Why does Taehyung keep insisting we store everything in glass when ziploc bags work even better?” You grab the glass container and set it down on the island countertop not even 2 feet away from the refrigerator. You struggle with the lid for a few seconds before finally succeeding in pulling it off.
“Probably for the aesthetic.” You toss a grape over to Jungkook before popping one into your own mouth. Taehyung was a little crazy when it came to decision making for the apartment technically only he was paying for. You and Jungkook had offered to help him out by paying ⅓ of the rent each but he insisted he had more than enough to pay. Unfortunately that also gave him the power to decide how the place would be decorated and run. You had to admit though he had an eye for detail, you definitely dated an expensive man. The refrigerator was one of those new ones where it synced up with your phone so that you had your shopping list with you. Forget having a smartphone you had a smart refrigerator. It played music. It had a calendar on a screen. You could even post pictures to facebook from it. Why did you even need that?
Your cupboards were full of several different sizes and colors of glass plates. Some were clear and some were all black, the types you used depended on who was present usually. There were wine glasses, shot glasses, coffee mugs, regular glass cups  and somehow they were all matching even if they were from completely different sets. The silverware sitting in one of the drawers in the kitchen was like something you had to be trained to use. Taehyung was always scolding you for using the wrong type of fork for your spaghetti but it was just a fork? How were you supposed to know the difference between a fish fork and a table fork. They looked exactly the same. You could almost hear Taehyung’s exasperated sigh after he explains ‘This fork has one tine that’s wider than the others, which makes it easier to pull the fish flesh from the bones and skin.’ but you continue to use the fish fork anyway.
The decor in your apartment as a whole made it seem like a successful business person lived in it and not three interns that were living off of 4 hours of sleep and take out food. There were minimalist paintings hung around the sitting area. The flat screen was mounted on the wall and under it was a TV stand but instead of having the TV on top there were all three of your high school diplomas. Your bachelor’s degree in biology was hung on the wall above the TV in between Jungkook’s and Taehyung’s nicely framed along with the tassel you had received at graduation. It was like a shrine of your achievements and the boys used it to their advantage whenever they brought a girl home.
Since the walls and mostly everything else in the apartment were white Taehyung insisted the furniture be black with only a few small items having color for a significant pop. There was a black suede sectional sofa with an accompanying ottoman. There were two small, white and yellow, chevron patterned couch pillows for absolutely no reason. The legs of the coffee table in the center of the room were black with designs carved into them and the actual top of the table was glass. Under the coffee table was a pristine white rug that Taehyung valued more than his own life. God forbid anything happened to that rug. The end tables on either side of the sofa were both red for some odd reason. Taehyung justified the color by insisting it was his favorite but both you and jungkook knew that wasn’t true. On top of the end tables were black ceramic vases with fake plants in them. You definitely did not water those for 2 weeks before Taehyung caught you and told you they weren’t real.
“I guess you’re right. Go get dressed so we can leave.” You had eaten half of the grapes by now so you decide to put the lid back on and shove the container back into the fridge on a lower shelf to avoid a future disaster. Jungkook drags himself to his bedroom to get dressed and you continue cleaning up around the kitchen quietly. Living with 2 grown men really put a damper on your alone time. Sure they were your best friends and you loved them but you also needed time for yourself. It was probably too good to be true in the first place. There’s something unsettling about how still and quiet everything is as you head back to the fridge and open it to grab two bottles of water for your trip to the gym.
One second you’re enjoying how calm it is and the next second you’re a disoriented mess. You don’t know where you are or what you’re doing and why is it incredibly hard for you to stand. Your eyes can’t adjust to anything. Why can’t you focus on one thing. Your hands are gripping onto the edge of the island tabletop so tightly your knuckles are turning white. There are various crashes and bangs going on around you but you can’t even process what’s happening let alone react to them. Your head is throbbing and even through the ringing in your ears you can hear the horrible sound of glass shattering all around you that brings you out of your daze. The plates. The fancy wine glasses you never even used. It was all gone. Your eyes are wide as you brain finally catches up to the event taking place. You look over to the hallway that Jungkook is struggling to emerge from. He’s crawling on his hands and knees probably because he couldn’t stand as the world around you shook violently. He’s stopped by the broken ceramic vase that’s now nothing more than dangerous shards on the ground preventing him from getting any closer to you.
You turn away from him and watch as the framed paintings on the wall fall over one by one. It was like a domino effect except there was no valid reason they were falling one after the other. They were just taunting you? Warning you? You were going crazy? The paintings go first and it feels as if the glass from the frames shattering on the ground happens in slow motion. Your diplomas are next. Then goes the TV straight onto the coffee table. It’s now shattered into millions of small pieces and Jungkook is lucky enough to retreat back into the hallway in time to avoid being hit by any large shards that fly into the air. It’s at this point that you realize you can’t hear anything anymore, the rumble from the earth leaving you deaf. Jungkook is saying something, yelling really, you can see his lips frantically moving and the look of horror on his face as he points in your direction. You can’t quite catch what he’s saying but you turn around anyway in hopes of figuring out what he’s trying to tell you. The fridge, 309 pounds, stainless steel, built-in spotify of all things, was toppling over threatening to pin you against the island. No doubt with 309 pounds falling on top of you as fast as that thing was falling it would be enough to break something and cause internal bleeding, it could kill you.
Jungkook must have figured as much too since his eyes were now shut tightly to avoid being the sole witness of his best friend’s unfortunate death by refrigerator. Your body and your instincts took over at this point, there was nothing to do besides immediately letting your body fall to the glass littered floor. There were small jolts of pain from your thighs and the palms of your hands where the small shards of glass penetrated your skin. This definitely was not a fight or flight situation because you weren’t going to fight a fridge and there really was no getting out of this one. The contents of the refrigerator begins pelting you from above as the fridge continues falling. The container of grapes falls directly above you and you’re not quick enough to shield your head. It breaks on impact and the throbbing you were experiencing worsens. There’s a gash on your head that begins bleeding down the side of your face but you’re not worried about that as you close your eyes quickly. You had been waiting for the fridge to crush your body under its weight.. Suddenly it’s quiet again. Too quiet. Too calm. The fridge never makes it to you. You think you’ve really gone deaf but the music coming from the fridge assures you that your ears are perfectly fine. You look up to see why the fridge didn’t crush you and sure enough the island had stopped it from falling any lower.
You slowly crawl out from under the small space the fridge and island had created to try to get to Jungkook.
“Jungkook! Jungkook, are you okay? Talk to me.” You manage to find your voice however strained it may be. You were still bleeding from the gash on your head making it a little hard to keep your eyes open and the shards of glass in your skin didn’t help at all. You couldn’t really feel your injuries yet though as the adrenaline was still coursing through your body.
“Y/N? Oh my god you’re alive. I..I thought you were going to get crushed. I couldn’t even hear myself telling you to turn around. It all happened so fast.  I’m so sorry I couldn’t get to you. I thought you were a goner.” You could hear the worry in his voice and it made your heart break. He slowly comes out of the hallway still not fully convinced that what just happened really happened.
“I’m here, Kookie. I’m fine. We’re fine. Tae is at the hospital so he’s fine.” Just as you finished you heard the faint noise of your pagers beeping from your bedrooms. Of course the hospital would need all hands on deck there was just an earthquake for goodness sake.
“You hear that? They need us at the hospital. Me and you Jungkook. Come on, we have to go.” You struggle to get your body off the ground with a dull pain in your side that you disregard. You were standing on unsteady legs and uneven ground which was not a good combination. The stinging in your palms and thighs plus the bleeding gash on your forehead were the last things on your mind as you thought of the flood of patients that would be arriving at the hospital soon. Jungkook gets off the floor in the same manner as you did. He quickly wipes away the tears in his eyes when he spots you alive and in one piece. The two of you head out of the apartment together in hopes of finding a way to the hospital quickly.
Silver Stone Hospital - same time
“They’re not answering my calls or texts Dr. Jung. I can’t really give you an update if I don’t even know what’s become of them.” Taehyung had checked his phone at least fifty times in the past minute by the request of Dr. Jung. Taehyung was a bit more preoccupied by the task at hand. He was busy checking in on children and parents that were already in the hospital because he knew there would be a flood of more worried parents and injured kids in a matter of minutes. It’s not like he didn’t care what had happened to his best friends he just had other things to worry about now. The earthquake had hit the hospital hard but there were safety procedures and mechanisms in place that prevented the damage from being too bad. Now there were left with a few shaken up patients but the people that were coming would probably be worse off.
Hoseok wouldn’t admit it but he was panicking at the thought of not knowing if you were okay. Even he was shocked by himself. He had a dozen children and their worried parents to help comfort and more on the way but the only thing on his mind?
You.
Over the past month the two of you had gotten closer, you worked together almost everyday now that you were focusing on your speciality and not bouncing around between the specialists. Hoseok couldn’t get you out of his head, you were incredible with children and it was so amusing to see the lengths you would go to to make sure they weren’t in pain or scared. Now it was his turn to be scared but you weren’t there to help him. Had you gotten to a safe place? Were you injured and alone? Why were you doing this to him? He couldn’t focus on anything else so long as he didn’t know if you were okay. Even if Taehyung had reassured him that Jungkook was with you Hoseok didn’t feel any better about the situation. Hoseok found himself pacing in his office while taking deep breaths to calm himself down. A sickening feeling settled itself in the pit of his stomach as he thought of the worst case scenario.
What if Y/N’s dead? What if she’s suffering?
Hoseok holds his head in his hands at which point he feels like tearing his own hair out. He felt so useless because there was nothing he could do about your situation. Dr. Min bursts into Hoseok’s office ready to yell at the man for flaking on his duties but the words die in his throat as he sees one of his closest colleague’s red in the face and ready to explode. It was so unlike him to be fuming in anger.
“Hoseok, I don’t know what’s wrong right now but the first wave of ambulances is here and there’s a 12 year old girl out there that needs you to save her life. Stop moping around, get out there and do your job.” The seriousness in Dr. Min’s voice enough to snap Hoseok out of it. If there was anyone that could get Hoseok to focus it was Dr. Min because that man wouldn’t approach someone unless he really needed help. Wherever Y/N was she would want Hoseok to save lives and not worry about her. She was strong. She was out there alive. So now Hoseok had a job to do.
15 minutes later - Wave 2 of ambulances
You and Jungkook had managed to make it to the hospital despite both of your injuries. Jungkook had a cut on his arm where he removed a shard of glass from but he had covered it with a piece of fabric he had torn off of his own shirt. You had it a little worse than he did. There were small shards of glass on the inner and back parts of your thighs and the palms of your hands from getting down on the ground to avoid being crushed. There was also the 2-inch gash on your forehead where you were still losing blood which made you slightly dizzy. You were quite literally stumbling into the hospital from the ambulance bay. The amount of ambulances lined up pushed the pain to the back of your mind and in your disoriented state you really thought you were capable of helping.
There were so many people rushing around to get people taken care of, it was all a bit overwhelming for you. You walk off to the side and begin putting on one of the disposable hospital gowns that were used for situations like these.
“We need a doctor over here.” You turn your heads towards the three EMT’s pushing a gurney into the hospital and run over to them. They didn’t bother to look up as they were too busy trying to get their patient stable.
“We have a 6 year old boy, his name is Min-ho, his parents are on their way. We don’t know how this happened. The parents couldn’t tell us they were in hysterics when we got there. He has a right-sided hemothorax. He needs a chest tube fast.“ You were out of it but still there enough to know that a few things needed to be done.
“Oh god he’s so young. Someone find Dr. Jung! We need to set up a rapid infuser and I need a central line kit now.” You looked like a mess and with all the chaos in the surrounding area plus the blood loss, the only thing you could hears was TV static. It was like everyone was trying to talk to you at the same time but you couldn’t make out any specific voices. It felt like you had been standing in one spot for hours waiting for something to happen when really it had been a few seconds. Your eyelids felt like they were getting heavier and heavier but Dr. Jung had finally showed up. You jump up in a startled manner when you feel two hands on your shoulders. Upon opening your eyes you’re met with a worried look on Dr. Jung’s face.
“Y/N! Y/N. Oh my god what are you doing? You’re hurt! Why are you covered in blood?” His voice is the only one you can clearly pick up. You hadn’t realized it but one side of your faces was completely covered in blood, your palms were practically dripping blood and the back of your legs weren’t your normal skin tone but instead coated in red streaks from the several small cuts you had received. The EMT’s who were too busy to look at you earlier were now facing you with looks of horror on their faces.
“I-I’m fine, Dr. Jung. We have to get the boy checked out. He needs my help.” When you had turned around all the things you had asked for had been done. You place your hands on the guardrails on the gurney only to pull them away quickly with a yelp of pain as the shards of glass are pushed further into the palms of your hands.
“Y/N. Stop! You have to help yourself before you can help others.  You’re in no condition to be bustling around here. Let me help you.” Before you can agree accept his help you’re pulled away from Hoseok and towards one of the EMT’s. It’s Jimin. The Park Jimin.
“I’ll help her Hoseok, you have more important people to worry about. She started to help the boy now you have to finish it.” You were leaning heavily against Jimin now all traces of adrenaline gone from your body leaving you in pain. Jimin could see the reluctance to let you go in Hoseok’s face.
“I’m your best friend Hoseok. You can trust me to help her right? Go save that little boy.”
“Thank you, Jimin.” Hoseok took one last look at you before rushing off with the patient to hopefully get him fixed up. Jimin looked over at Mark and the other EMT assigned with them with an apologetic look on his face.
“You two are going to have to go on without me. Hoseok is counting on me to get her patched up. I’ll get in touch with you guys when I’m done. Let’s get you somewhere quieter, Y/N” Jimin slowly leads you over to a supply room. He shuts the door quietly and leaves you leaning against one of the shelving units.
“You and I both know it’s not a good idea to have you take a seat while I do this. We don’t want a repeat of your little hand incident do we?” You shook your head weakly and let out a groan. Jimin moved hastily around the room to grab a few different items he would need to help you. Among those items were gloves, tweezers, a bottle of antiseptic solution, a small plastic wash basin, sterile cotton balls, and gauze dressings. Jimin slid the gloves onto his hands and took a seat on the ground behind you.
“I’m going to have to umm…put my hands on you so don’t like freak out or anything.” Jimin places a cold gloved hand on the back of your knee and uses the other hand to hold the tweezers that begin removing the small shards of glass that have nearly buried themselves under your skin. Jimin was glad that it was him doing this and not Hoseok. He couldn’t stand the thought of Hoseok having his hands all over you.
“It’s hard to believe you’d be this shy about putting a hand on me when you joined a bet about who would see me undressed first.” Jimin felt relieved that he was sitting behind you because that meant you couldn’t see the way his cheeks had turned a bright red. He made a mental note to beat Jungkook and Taehyung’s asses later. At this point you were completely out of it and unaware of the things coming out of your mouth.
“Poor little Jimin had absolutely no chance from the start. You avoid me like a 5 year old boy that still believes girls have cooties. Do you know I live with Jungkook and Taehyung? Not to mention the fact that I dated both of them. Did they tell you that before you joined in on their bet?” Jimin’s grip on your leg tightens as he continues removing the glass from your skin but now he’s a lot less gentle than he was being before. You don’t even register the change in his demeanor.
“They basically played you. Those two probably have every freckle and dimple on my body memorized. They’ve seen more than even my la-” Jimin was up in less than a second. He couldn’t take it anymore. Here you were talking about how Taehyung and Jungkook had seen everything he wanted for his eyes only. Damn it, he really had no chance with you. There were Jungkook and Taehyung who seemed like a big part of your life already. Hoseok was absolutely smitten with you. What did they have that he didn’t? What made them so deserving of your attention? He pushed you back until your back hit the shelving behind you and he was using his own body to cage you in.
“Jimin? What are you doing?”
“Taking a look at the gash on your head.” What was he doing? If looks could kill you’d be seven feet under right now. You knew Jimin disliked you but he wouldn’t try to get rid of you right? No. There were too many cameras around the hospital. Then again he could blame your disappearance on all the chaos.
“This seems very unconventional. How are you going to clean it up when your hands are busy keeping me trapped?” That was the worst excuse ever Jimin thought. He was so full of jealousy and rage he didn’t even know what he was doing until it had been done hence being caught in a lie.
“You’re so stupid Y/N. I can’t believe you could just fall for Hoseo-..”
“Jimin, I don’t feel too good…” You announce meekly. Your legs felt like they were going to give out on you soon. Even with Jimin’s body so close to yours you felt cold and weak. You didn’t think you were injured too badly. It was just a bit of glass. The last thing you see before your whole world goes dark is the worried look on Jimin’s face. That seemed to be the only look you had recieved today. First from Jungkook, then Hoseok, and now Jimin.
“I wish you weren’t so oblivious of my fee…Y/N? Y/N!” It’s too late now because you’re out like a light.
Silver Stone Hospital - 12 hours later
Beep. Beep. Beep. The annoying beeping sound you thought you had gotten so used to now working in a hospital was the sound that you’re greeted with upon coming to. You struggle to open your eyes due to the blinding lights overhead but you’re curious to see what’s going on. After your eyes are properly focused you take in your surroundings. You were familiar with this room…it was the meeting room? The usual furniture was pushed to the walls and in their places were 5 hospital beds. You were occupying one of them. To your left was an elderly woman reading a book. There were two beds in front of yours the occupants sleeping peacefully but they didn’t look like patients. These two were sporting scrubs and the pagers clutched tightly in their hands gave them away as doctors. On the bed to your right was an unexpected but familiar face. You were eager to engage in conversation with her so you attempt to sit yourself up only to flinch at the pricks of pain from your bandaged hands.
“The cute doctor with nice hair said it would be best if you just rested. Not to strain yourself.” Your head turns to the old woman who had put her book down. She had a cast on her arm and a bandage on her cheek but other than that she looked fine.
“Silly me, I should be more specific. You are one lucky lady. About 6 men have come in here just to sit with you in the last few hours. If only I had been born the same year as you, sweetheart. The one who brought you in here was so worried. He didn’t stop removing glass until he was positive it was all gone. It took him two hours. Not to mention stitching up your side and the cut on your head, you must have been in so much pain.” You smile at her words and inspect yourself to see the extent of your injuries. Your hands were bandaged up and under the blanket draped over your body you could feel the similar dressings on your thighs. The bandage covering the gash on your head felt nice and secure on your skin. The stitches in your side were what caught you off guard the most since you hadn’t even realized you were injured there.
“I’ve got a nice support system. I’m a doctor here so I guess that explains all the visitors.” You turn your head to your original conversation target.
“Chaeyoung! What are you doing here?” Chaeyoung was the woman you had met that was already 4 months pregnant but hadn’t received any prenatal care. She was technically your first real patient so you had somewhat of a soft spot for her.
“I had an appointment to check on the baby today and then this whole earthquake thing happened. Dr. Jung set me up in here because I wasn’t injured but it probably wasn’t a good idea to walk all the way back to the Women’s Center.” Since her first appointment she had come in once a week because it was important to monitor the baby’s progress since she hadn’t been getting checked out the first four months. The two of you have had a lot of time to talk and she even revealed her plans for the baby after it was born. She had asked to keep the gender a secret after you had offered to tell her on her second appointment. Chaeyoung wanted to find a good couple to give her baby to because she knew she wouldn’t be able to provide a good life for him or her. Sadly, the search wasn’t going too well because couples were skeptical about adopting from someone with her background and her lack of prenatal care made them wary of the baby’s condition. You had offered to help by finding more adoption agencies and helping with the necessary paperwork to prove the baby was clear of any health problems but it wasn’t enough. You had gone as far as to even meet up outside of the professional work setting you usually saw her in. She really was a good person that cared for her unborn child but the timing is all wrong. She was just going through an unfortunate situation.
“Well that was nice of him. Mind updating me on my visitors and why we’re in here.”
“Some EMT guy brought you in and started doing all this stuff to help you.” Jimin. “Then Dr. Jung came in and talked to you while you were asleep. Something about a boy and how the surgery went well but he wasn’t out of the woods.” Hoseok. “The next guy didn’t look like a doctor because he was wearing regular clothes but he was called out by a nurse.” Jungkook probably. “Then Dr. Tae came in to check on me and then he saw you and he asked me what happened and stuff.” Taehyung. “Then another doctor guy came in and napped on the chair next to your bed. I’m surprised he could find the time considering it’s been crazy out there.” Yoongi. “And the last guy sat there any facetimed with his kid to make sure she was okay I think. He pointed the camera towards you a couple times. The kid liked you.” Seokjin. “Then the two sleeping over there seemed surprised to see you here. They said they just needed a place to nap after all the back to back emergency surgeries.” Dr. Choi and Dr. Im the trauma surgeons, poor guys were probably under so much pressure today.
“So what happened to you anyway?” Chaeyoung wanted to know what landed you in the bed instead of being the one helping those in the bed.
“I guess I was a little worse off than I thought I was. It was just a few cuts really from what I remember. I’ll have to ask Jimin the EMT guy what happened to me. I’m pretty sure I passed out while he was trying to help me out.” You finally get to the point where you’re sitting up. Being in the bed so long was getting to you and you had to get up at some point so why not do it now? You swing your legs over to the edge of the bed and stretch out your stiff limbs.
“Have they given you anything to eat?” When she shakes her head ‘no’ you frown for a second before standing up slowly. “I’ll go use my doctor pass to get us something good.” Chaeyoung smiles for the first time today and you can’t help but return a toothy grin while you head for the door of the makeshift patient room.
As you walk out of the room it’s a nice change from what you remember walking into. Instead of everyone running around in chaos it was quiet and everyone seemed tuckered out.  You make your way to the cafeteria where you figure a lot of your colleague’s would be after the long day. They would either be here or in the on-call rooms sleeping. You see the five out of the six men Chaeyoung had described to you earlier and they’re surprised to see you out and about.
“Y/N! You’re awake! We could’ve used you around here you know.” Taehyung bounds over to you before embracing you tightly eliciting a muffled cry of pain as you dig your face into his chest.
“Taehyung!” You hear the other four men shout at your forgetful roommate. You should have prepared yourself for something like this to happen.
“Yikes! I’m sorry I didn’t mean to.”  Taehyung grabs your hand and pulls you over to the others happily. You take a seat next to Jin who is busy shoving food into his mouth. He must have been busy doing reconstructive surgeries today. Dr. Min’s head is leaning on Jin’s shoulder as he takes a well deserved nap after his full day of knocking other people out. Hoseok is scrolling through his phone while drinking out of a juice pouch and your roommates are currently discussing the state of your apartment. This was nice. This was calm. Nothing could ruin this.
The nurse that bursts into the cafeteria seemingly out of breath catches you off guard. The words that come out of her mouth leaves your breath caught in your throat.
“Dr. Jung! Min-ho in room 187 is going into hypovolemic shock and his heart rate is increasing rapidly.” Min-ho. You know Min-ho. Six year old Min-ho. Right-sided hemothorax Min-ho. Not out of the woods Min-ho.
“Taehyung, follow me!” Hoseok drops both his phone and the juice box on the table in his hasty attempt to get to room 187. Taehyung follows close behind and even if you had minimal contact with the boy your feet move on their own and you’re the last person in the room. It was chaos once again. It was like watching the paintings fall off the wall one by one. Watching the coffee table shatter. The woman you assume is Min-ho’s mom is sobbing uncontrollably into what you believe is her husband’s chest as she begs for you to save her child’s life.
“Taehyung, get his parents out of here.” Hoseok is doing his best to save Min-ho but with his parents in the room it was substantially harder to do anything. He didn’t want this to be the last memory of their son if he couldn’t get him stable again. Taehyung does as he is told and you keep your eyes on the screen where his heart rate is dangerously rapid and inadequate.
“Dr. Jung he’s going into v-fib.” You hated to interrupt what Hoseok was doing but even if he fixed the original problem it would be completely useless if he couldn’t get his heart rate under control.
“Damn it. I need a crash cart in here!” Everything afterwards happens so fast. You begin doing CPR to keep Min-ho alive as the crash cart is being brought in. Suddenly Hoseok is telling someone to ‘charge to 100’ and when you stop CPR and he’s sure everyone is all clear Hoseok shocks the boy. Min-ho’s small body noticeably stiffens in a way that you had seen many times in movies and TV shows but seeing in real life was almost agonizing. After realizing the first shock didn’t work you resume CPR as everyone in the room prepares to repeat it over again. It’s a well known fact that the more times you shock a patient to get their heart rate back to normal the less effective it becomes and that thought is lingering in the back of your mind right now.
Had you done everything to save this boy? Did you do everything you could as soon as he arrived on the ambulance? Hoseok telling you to stop CPR pulls you out of your thoughts. Once again he waits for the all clear and repeats the same process as before. You anxiously wait to see a change in his heart rate. The change comes almost immediately but it’s not the one you wanted. You can feel your heart drop into your stomach as the monitor shows a flatline.
“No. No. No. Again! Dr. Jung, do it again!” You frantically continue doing CPR despite everyone in the room standing completely still. It was like they didn’t even care a six year old boy needed their help.
“What are you guys doing? Help me!” You’re the only one reacting this way. The others had experienced their fair share of death but this was your first. You were on the verge of tears as people slowly began filing out of the room. Hoseok approaches you and places a hand on your shoulder.
“Y/N…he’s gone.” You shrug his hand off your shoulder with tears spilling from your eyes.
“We have to save him! He hasn’t even gotten to live his life Dr. Jung. How could you abandon him?” The heart rate monitor beeps every time you push down on Min-ho’s chest and you convince yourself he’s still alive but you know that as soon as you stop CPR the daunting flat line will return.
“I’m not abandoning him, Y/N” Hoseok wraps his arms around your waist careful to avoid the wound on your side and pulls you away from Min-ho. There it is. The flat line. Hoseok seems to notice the way you stare at the monitor and in order to ease your pain he reaches over to switch the monitor off.
“Let’s get you out of here.” Hoseok escorts you out of the room and the way your sobs racked your body you could have easily been mistaken for Min-ho’s grieving mother. Minutes of what you assume is pointless walking later you find yourself in Hoseok’s office. He settles both of you on the small couch in the corner of the room without saying a word.
“I know you’re probably mad at me but you need to understa-..” You almost immediately cut him off in an icy tone. The sadness had now turned into anger.
“What do I need to understand Hoseok? You just stood there and watched as I tried to save him! You should have helped me! You let him die!” You wanted nothing more than to land a couple punches to his jaw for letting you down like that.
“There was nothing we could do anymore, Y/N!” The anger in Hoseok’s voice startles you because he had never spoken to you like this. “We can’t save everyone. We’re doctors not miracle workers. Get over it.” You noticed the way he clenched his jaw and balled his hands into fists. This made you put some distance between the two of you.
“How exactly do you suppose I just get over it?”
“This is your first loss Y/N. But it definitely won’t be your last. This is the one that’s going to stick with you forever and I wish nothing more than to make it a less painful one for you. That’s not going to happen though because that was your first one and we can’t do anything about it.” You wipe your cheeks of the tears you had been shedding.
“You’re a doctor Y/N. I think it’s about time you stop letting your emotions get in the way and you start acting like one. Some people have had it worse than you you know. We’re not paid to prolong a parents pain by trying to resuscitate their dead child. We’re paid to save lives and when we can’t do that we suck it up and move on to the next patient to start all over again.”
Hoseok gets up, walking to the door with a look of disapproval on his face.
“I suggest you don’t come back until you’ve pulled yourself together, Dr. L/N.”
A/N: This is completely unedited and I’m not feeling too happy with the end so it might change but for now this is what I’ve got! Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed it.

In most of the homes, dining rooms are almost always busy with people eating their breakfast together, having a chat over brunch or having a dinner party. While sideboards can be sufficient to place dinner sets, utensils and dining items, a wine cupboard can also make sense in the dining room. It can be easier to serve the wine while dining or if you are having a small brunch, you can pour out the champagnes quicker.

You can change that by placing a simple and tall bar cabinet that can fit into the narrow space and have enough vertical storage capacity. You can also try a built-in bar in the wall of that corner if you have a space crunch. Add two bar stools to create a cosy drinking nook. You can add a small coffee table as well. To decorate a liquor cart in the narrow corner, choose simple decor pieces like a small flower pot with a sapling or a small figurine. The decor should not clutter the space; instead, add a touch of class with subtlety.
Below the stairs
For duplex apartments or homes, the space below the stairs is usually left unattended. It can be utilised by placing a small yet stylish wine counter. If there is not enough space, choose a simple cart with wheels that can be moved. The cart can hold liquor bottles, beers and few glasses. You add a small chair with a backrest to help you relax while you enjoy your drink. You can add a floor vase as an accent to make the place stand out. If there is not enough light, a floor lamp can be added as well.
Tumblr media
Outdoor or Patio
Sometimes even though you love the design of the bar counter for sale at the store, the indoor decor of your house does not suit the style. In such cases, you may place it in the patio if you have one! Many people love to enjoy their drinks while rejuvenating in the midst of nature. An outdoor liquor cupboard can work very well for them. You can choose reclaimed wood cupboards like Holder that has a unique charm and may not need many decors. Just choosing the perfect location and adding some nice looking bottles can do the trick as it has open shelves to showcase everything. You can place two or three bar stools made from natural materials like rattan or solid wood to match the cupboard and enjoy a drink with your friends.

Home Design Tricks And Tips To Embellish Similar To A Professional
Tumblr media
You may be under the impression that you need to possess a great deal of skill to do interior decorating. However, you will be amazed at the amount of magazines and the Internet can assist you with this endeavor. Please read on for approaches to start the whole process of designing your house using the look you would like.
Making a specific feeling for any room is crucial to good decor. Prior to selecting the products that will get into it, know what type of mood you have in mind for your room. A illustration of this could be making a calm mood with soft and warm colors.
An excellent interior decorating tip would be to start purchasing good art. One great piece of art could be the grand centerpiece of any room. This can provide that you simply great center point to embellish around.
Offices must first of all be functional, so remember this when determining the style and decor. You will want to add lighting for your office, in addition to a comfortable location to sit. The conclusion goal is usually to design and create a region that allows you to maintain productivity, inspire creativity and savor your surroundings.
A fantastic home design tip is usually to start gonna more yard sales and thrift stores. You'd be blown away at some of the unique things that you can find at these avenues versus the common places like Ikea. You might stumbled upon a great end table or beautifully decorated vase.
You can never get it wrong by having a little greenery to whichever room your are designing. Plants make wonderful additions to any room since they give your room a refreshing and lively look. A couple of strategically placed plants will greatly enhance the decor of your room as long as you make sure to water them!
If you want to work with a professional, have got a detailed contract by having an interior designer. This will benefit the both of you and be sure you might be on a single page, with no surprises or cost overruns. An excellent interior designer will need an agreement anyway, so it will be a sensible way to establish they are an established businessperson.
Be sure that there may be ample lighting in each and every room of your property. This could expect you to carry out some planning as to best places to situate your lights or chandeliers. In case you have a huge room, you will need to strategically position the lights to filter through the entire whole area.
Leave out the clutter when you plan your upcoming interior design project. Sometimes less is really more. Cramming your living space packed with accessories and furniture can certainly make the room feel small. As opposed to possessing this cramped space, choose a few vital pieces and offer yourself even more of an open space for the area.
Incorporate art into rooms in your own home, if they are paintings, pictures or posters. This will go combined with the theme of the house which you choose and will help to boost the overall appearance. It is possible to frame classical artwork to include in the elegance of your house if you are a young homeowner.
Only do half the wall if you would like add wallpaper. When attempting to redecorate walls it may be extremely expensive. Therefore, to save some money, just put wallpaper on half the wall. Give the wallpaper a bold border then pick out a color to paint the remainder of your respective wall with. This makes your walls look good and help save some funds.
Take into consideration including some fresh elements of design into the space. Any room can have a fast update that reflects the newest trends. Normally it is advisable to incorporate these products for accent purposes only. If your throw pillow with a zebra print goes out of favor, replacing it with something totally new is simple. On the other hand, a leopard-printed sofa is difficult to exchange.
Those seeking to design a room with their home must be smart about it. Whatever items you opt to decorate your living space with ought not take out of the functionality from the room. As an example, don't put a sizable piece in a area that where you will find a great deal of traffic.
For those who have many items on your own walls, ensure that the walls remain simple. Lots of people have more things as opposed to others have. It is actually easier for you to keep your walls plain should you be this sort of individual who has several valuable and sentimental things that they can not area in storage. Having whatever else up can certainly make the rooms look cluttered.
For the quick kitchen refresh, try changing from the cabinet hardware. Outdated drawer pulls and cabinet hardware can produce a kitchen look old. When your cabinets continue to be in good condition, you can update their look by merely adding more modern hardware. It really is inexpensive, only takes an afternoon, and you will definitely be blown away at just what a difference this modification will make.
The shades you end up picking for any room at home should take sunlight into account. You wish to pick a color that maximizes a room's brightness and supplies a cheery effect.
While you are putting window treatments in your living room area you should always get them for enough time to brush or hang on the floor. A thing that people often do would be to hang curtains which can be too short and never reach the ground. Your room will end up searching of whack.
Try new towels in your bathroom. You an always admire the impact newest towels, even though you may not be able to re-tile your bathroom or replace your bathtub. In case your bathroom seems somewhat drab, or calming colors like blue and green in order to create an oasis, try bold colors.
I is hoped that it article provided some advice about the concepts of interior decorating. In case you are properly educated on the topic, you can do almost everything, it can be easier than you imagine, and! As an alternative to setting up having a drab living space, create the home of your dreams.

10 Cheap Home Decor Stores (That Aren’t IKEA)
Pretty much all of us here at TFD are extremely into budget home decor. I’ve written about my various DIY projects that helped me turn a new apartment into a home (which I still love a year later!). Chelsea has a wonderful eye for making her home feel both sophisticated and inviting (definitely check out her recent dining nook and kitchen makeovers on Instagram). None of us are experts, but we are all very into finding ways to make our homes feel cozy and “finished,” without breaking the bank.
I know a lot of my friends are the same way, too. But we also all seem to encounter the same problem: ending up with the same exact pieces of furniture and decor as every other person we know. And, yep, most of it comes from IKEA. Now, I love my trusty square-shaped extendable dining table, and it has served me well for five years. But I can name at least four other people I know well who have (or used to have) the same exact one, even though it’s not the only dining table to exist.
None of this is to shame IKEA. I love perusing those little “living in 450 square feet” setups and then snacking on Swedish meatballs as much as the next person, and no one should feel bad about shopping there. But I also know that it sometimes feels like the default for early twenty-somethings who just need to put something in their first real apartment. I’m just here to gently point out that it’s not the only option. If you desperately need to furnish that first apartment, or you’re simply looking for a little home refresh this spring, here are several home decor stores you should check out. (One caveat: I’m not including thrift stores on this list, but you should definitely check out your local thrift stores for budget-friendly decor and affordable furniture! Same with Craigslist and Facebook marketplace finds. Definitely worth checking out if they are an option for you, though!)
1. Cost Plus World Market
I love World Market. We’ve bought several things there, from a large wicker blanket basket to a pink-and-gray rug made from recycled plastic bottles. I even managed to find a mid-century style leather chair for $450 full price (which is a bargain, as most leather chairs go for at least twice that). It now mostly belongs to the cat, but it has remained in great shape for over a year, and I don’t anticipate any issues. This store is especially good for quality shelving, rugs with actual personality, and a wonderful selection of charming bar carts. Always keep an eye out for their sales — they happen pretty frequently!
2. Joss & Main
We want to replace our futon (which is fine, it’s just a light color and that ended up being a mistake for us) with a sofa, and I’m definitely going to look here when the time comes. The site is really well set up — they organize by room and style, so if you’re looking for living room furniture with a modern feel, you can find what you’re looking for easily. Also, a cursory glance shows me that they have a wide selection of full-size sofas (with good reviews!) for $500 and under.
3. Hayneedle
Everything on Hayneedle definitely seems to fall into the trendy/Pinterest-y category, but certainly not in a bad way. Their gallery page is super useful — it shows you finished room photos so you can get an idea of how an item will actually work in your space. I got my desk from this site — it is white with spacious drawers, and they had a better price than anywhere else I was looking at the time.
4. MUJI
Less selection here, but an amazing place to look if you are overwhelmed by consumer decisions! MUJI is a Japanese store that sells everything from clothing to stationery to furniture. They focus on the quality of items over the quantity of them, so you know everything you get will last a good long time. Also, everything is super fairly priced! And while there are fewer choices, that doesn’t mean their stuff is boring — it’s all beautifully designed.
5. Wayfair
I’m sure everyone here knows about Wayfair at this point, but I can’t *not* include it in this list. Wayfair is where we’ve gotten the majority of the stuff in our apartment. As I’m typing this, I can see my couch, the coffee table, the TV table, and the office chair I’m sitting on — all of which came from Wayfair. They pretty much have the widest selection and the best sales. However, their site is also a bit overwhelming, so I’d have an idea of what you’re looking for before you go perusing!
6. Target
Target has a shocking (to me) selection of insanely cute, relatively cheap home decor pieces. I highly recommend checking out their lighting in particular. We’ve gotten literally all of our lamps here — two cute (but different!) brass floor ones, and one light pink table lamp with a floral embroidery shade, which may be my most favorite thing I own. Their Project 62 line has some particularly awesome items.
7. Overstock
My mom, a true home decorating queen, has directed me to Overstock many times over the years, and for good reason — they have a ton of stuff, and it’s all marked down. I’ve heard a lot of great things about their mattress selection! They have clothing items and other stuff in addition to furniture and home decor as well.
8. Rugs USA
Another mom recommendation! A painful truth of adulthood is that a lot of things are way more expensive than you’d actually think they would be. This pretty much goes for all rugs. My mom actually found a huge, beautiful pink-patterned area rug for like $200 on this site, and it covers her entire (large) master bedroom floor. Definitely check it out for your cozy flooring needs.
9. Michael’s
I realize this is a craft store, not a home decor store necessarily. But! This is the only place (other than thrift stores) that I buy picture frames, because a) they are almost always on sale, and b) they always, always have coupons available. (Just check the website/your location before you go!)
10. Flying Tiger (New York & Boston in the U.S.)
Unfortunately, Flying Tiger does not have an online shop. And as of now, they have hundreds of stores worldwide, but the only U.S.-based ones are in New York and Boston. However! This store is absolutely filled with quirky, adorable home items (think knick-knacks and kitchenware, not large furniture). It is the perfect place to find interesting homewares for seriously cheap — I got a vase with a drawing of a man’s face for $5, and a bottle-green glass fruit bowl for $4. Definitely keep your ear to the ground for a store opening in your city, as they are expanding rapidly, or pay them a visit if you’re near NYC or Boston. I love this store so much!

The 10 most common mistakes in the design of your interior
Interior Tips and advice
Some minor interventions can completely change your interior. Knowing which interventions you should use can transform your narrow and chaotic interior into an interior that radiates spacious, organized and calm ...
Do you want to know what the 10 most common mistakes are when designing your interior and how you can solve it? Then keep reading ...
Tumblr media
1. Too many furniture and decorative items
It doesn't take much to turn a well-designed and thoughtful space into a marketplace of all kinds of furniture and accessories where you can barely see the walls, let alone that you can move through space ...
Your furniture must first and foremost fit into the room and must also be functional and used! Make sure there is enough room to move around and that there are no obstacles blocking the passage (s)!
For most people, it is a matter of collecting too much furniture (heirlooms, bargains, etc.) but sometimes it can also be the place where a piece of furniture is located.
office interior designers in Qatar
Are you pleading guilty? Move or remove 1 piece of furniture and see if this helps ... not enough? Remove several pieces of furniture until you find peace in the room.
You will be amazed by the result! Too much furniture in a room makes the room not only smaller but also difficult to walk around in. This tip is certainly important when you try to sell your house because it gives the wrong view to potential buyers.
2. Still trying to squeeze that one seat, table, cupboard into a room that doesn't fit ...
Just like those skinny jeans that are actually a bit too tight ... but you still try to squeeze yourself in and walk around uncomfortably all day. Or those too wide pants that make you look sloppy ...
Well, this also applies to your interior ... Too small furniture in a room will make you're interior look more like a dollhouse, on the other hand, too large furniture will ensure that the harmony and tranquility of your interior disappear and also give a cramped feeling.
The essential factor for good interior design is balance! Every piece of furniture that you place must fit perfectly in the room. Not too much and not too little, not too big and not too small ...
Tip: before you move or reposition your furniture or purchase new, take the dimensions of both the room and the furniture (height, width, and depth) and draw this on a sheet of paper. Certainly, take into account passages to other spaces. If you don't do this, that one purchase can become an "expensive" mistake!
3. Collect all kinds of waste
When we talk about clothing and accessories, only 1 rule applies: LESS IS MORE. Here too, the art is to keep everything in balance and to create a sense of unity, peace, flow, and movement.
Too much stuff in the room creates too much distraction, disorder and therefore a restless feeling. Here too you can easily take away a few things and see what this gives.
Tip: divide what you have in 3 categories:
things that are important to you
things you need
things you can do without a doubt
Delete the last group. Does the room give more peace now? No? Repeat if necessary until you have removed enough items to find a nice and balanced interior.
4. Poor lighting
A well and the correctly lit room is the most important and also the most difficult factor in interior design.
In the first place, a room must have sufficient daylight. So place as little (or not) furniture, accessories, too large curtains for the windows as possible. Does your room not have enough daylight because of windows that are too small? Then place a mirror (or several small mirrors) across the window so that the light can reflect everywhere in the room. Don't like your mirrors? Then play with decorations and metal vases that also reflect the light.
In addition to natural daylight, artificial lighting is also very important. Each room needs more than 1 light point to illuminate nicely on dark days or in the evening when we watch or read TV, or invite our friends and family, ... Think of ceiling lamps or recessed spots, surface mounted spots, floor lamps, table lamps, wall lamps, indirect lighting in furniture or in niches ... The correct strength of the lamps is also very important: ready enough to function well without being blinded. A good solution is to provide dimmers where you need to be able to temper the light.
5. First, choose the color of the walls and only later the decoration of furniture, curtains, and carpets
It is indeed much more difficult to match furniture, carpets, and curtains with an already newly painted wall than vice versa. The most ideal is to know the entire colors and materials picture before the implementation.
So first choose your seats and materials for the cabinets and ask if you can get a fabric sample and material sample. Take these samples to the paint shop to find the right color palette.
Take several paint samples home and test everything there for 24 hours before you start painting. Colors in daylight differ enormously when artificial light shines on it.
6. Buy impulsively without a budget
We are all born somewhere impulsive buyers. This does not mean that you are not allowed to purchase that one piece that you are so in love with, but at least keep the receipt in case it would not fit in your interior.
Before you go shopping to a furniture store you can think about how much you want to spend. So the rooms must first be measured. The location and dimensions of the furniture must be well planned.
If your budget is limited, do not buy everything at once in a cheaper store, but spread your purchases. Buy the best and most beautiful piece that you can afford today and write down the budget that you still need for the next purchases. You can save for this. If you yourself are handy then you can certainly browse around thrift stores or second-hand markets to turn nice and old things into a modern vintage piece of furniture. Old nice chairs can be upholstered again in a fabric that you can choose yourself.
7. Monotonous decor - too little variety
If you go shopping at large furniture stores, you will see dining rooms and living rooms of the same series everywhere ... how monotonous, boring and above all impersonal can an interior be!
Do not buy everything from the same series. Furniture has to fit together, but that doesn't mean that everything has to look alike. You may want to create the look that you have seen in your favorite catalog, but that does not mean that it will look like that at home ... and not to mention that someone from your circle of friends or family just likes that same look and bought it !!
Especially if you want to express your personality and certainly also want to create some dimension and depth, then look for furniture that you really like. It is much more important that the choice of fabric, color, and dimensions are in balance than the style of the furniture.
8. Don't hide your windows!
Another common mistake is to hang the curtain rod or pull-up system way too low. Curtains hung too low make the ceiling appear lower and therefore make the space smaller. The windows themselves also appear smaller and natural daylight is blocked more.
Curtain rails and pull-up systems must be hung as high as possible against the ceiling in order to create a sense of height and width and in this way we create a greater sense of space.

Stop! Before You Take On Home Improvement Projects, Read This. Making a few little repairs can majorly impact the value of your house. You may even increase the value by many thousands. Here are some home improvement ideas to help you get started. If there are smaller crack in the roof, you can use aluminum tape to make repairs. Remove the backing, and apply the tape to a surface that is clean. This ensures a waterproof seal over any cracks. Applying a new coat of paint to your porch may be needed. You should use a high quality exterior paint. Make sure the paint you choose has the same type of base as the previous paint; you should use oil over oil and latex over latex- or water-based paints. Oil paints work work well for trim because of its durability. However, oil-based paints are slick and slippery, so they are not good for walking areas. If you can afford it, real wood floors are a better choice than laminate. Even though laminate does look like real wood, and in many cases it can be simpler to clean and take care of, but you cannot refinish these floors. 10 to 20 years down the road, yourself or a new owner will have to replace the floor instead of just having it refinished. In terms of renovating your roof, use white tiles or other similarly-hued materials. Lighter colors reflect the sun instead of absorbing it, which means your attic will not be so hot. It is possible to realize great savings on your energy bills in this way. You can keep bugs out of your home and save money on the costs of heating and cooling your home, by sealing off any cracks or other openings around the perimeter of your home. Simply caulk up any cracks that you find. Once the caulking is dry, bugs will be hard-pressed to find a way inside, and air will not be allowed out. Make yourself a shopping list before going to the store. Making a list of all the items you need to purchase ensures that you will not need to make multiple trips to the store and also helps to keep you organized. Having the right lighting in a room can make a huge difference. A well lighted room creates a warm and inviting feel to the occupants of the house. Putting in an additional light fixture can really brighten up a room. By making a dark room brighter, you can improve the feel of your house. Never discard baby food containers, as they make great garage organizers. You can screw or superglue the jar lids underneath a wall shelf. You can put small items in the jars. Then, simply twist your jars into their new home. This will help you use the shelf and jars in a positive way. Start forming a plan now. By starting early in looking for ideas regarding your home, you will be able to come across a lot of ideas before you need to decide. If you can get rid of the desire to find a right color scheme for your home, you will decrease your stress levels for renovation. Red and white cedar wood are great fencing materials for environments that are very dry and fire-prone. It has a high safety rating for fire-prone areas, and it is durable and fragrant. An ugly outdoor air conditioner can be an eyesore, but it is necessary in certain regions. If you feel the air conditioner is detracting from the appearance of your home, you can use a trellis or latticework to disguise it. Try planting a cluster of tall flowers or grasses a foot in front of the unit. You can add on another room to your home to make it more functional. Consider adding a playroom or a den for extra living area. This will increase the value of your home while making it more enjoyable. Just remember to budget wisely and have the necessary funding in place before you get started with your big renovations. Get your contractor's attention and make your needs clear. It is important to find a contractor who listens to you and who you can trust. If you don't get your contractor's attention and make sure they understand what you want, the contractor can accidentally do something wrong. Make sure your contractor is listening and understands what you are telling him. Look at the low areas around your property, including those near the foundation of the house. These low areas can be packed with compacted soil so water no longer pools and erodes yards. This water can seep into the house, rotting out wood. You can make a simple, inexpensive kitchen back splash just by using a little bit of wallpaper and some varnish. Purchase wallpaper in a design that you like. Begin by taking a measurement of your wall space. Using these measurements, cut the paper a few inches larger to allow some room for error. Add some paste and give it some time to become tacky. Always use a wet, but not dripping wet, sponge to smooth wallpaper as you hang it on the wall to avoid unevenness in its surface. Trim any extra paper with an exacto knife for clean edges and a great fit. Apply a coat of varnish with a paintbrush. Now you have a beautiful, cost-effective back-splash. Simply changing your accessories can help your room look fresh. A few new pillows or a new wall decoration can create a huge difference in a room. Add new drapes, a lamp and a vase with flowers and the room will look better than ever. Many people believe that unseen improvements will cause a home's value to rise. That said, they don't invest in the needed repairs like exterior paint. Potential buyers will focus on these problems and believe your home needs fixing. First impressions are important when it comes to your home. As you've read, home improvement jobs don't always have to be hard. If you take time to carefully plan out your projects, things should go smoother. Make sure you utilize the advice given above so that you can begin the process of improving your home's value.
Great Ideas For Your Home Improvement Plans
Home improvement just downright scares some folks. With proper information, you may do almost any project with the tools available to you. Use the following advice to help you complete your project.
You can increase your home's value with one project. If you want to sell your home, think about doing a few minor projects. You could just give the interior and exterior of your home a new paint job. For just a few hundred dollars, you can boost your home's value by close to a thousand dollars!
Home improvement tasks can be 'improved' by the use of the correct tools. Making sure you have the right tool for the job guarantees the work can be done right and as easy as possible. Knowing how to correctly use the tool also makes a difference in getting the job done right.
If you cannot find the right sized screen to replace one you are missing, it is simple to make one yourself. Frame kits allow you to cut the frame to any size, and the screen can be attached using an inexpensive too and cording. Even if your window requires an external screen with special attachments, you'll find appropriate adapters available that can be easily added to any screen.
Replacing a roof is costly. Get a few estimates prior to getting a new roof and check all references for the companies you look at. There are a lot of choices available for roofing, from metal to lightweight tile, although there are still the traditional choices like composite shingles and wood shake. A sound roofer will assist you with the choice.
Before you think about making a renovation to your house, you should go to open houses in newer buildings. This will give you a good feel for what's trendy and popular in home decor at the moment, and you'll learn a lot more in a real home than you would browsing the aisles at your local home improvement store. Lots of model homes have decorators who include furniture and window coverings in order to provide you with a better look. Therefore, you can simply mimic the options you like and skip the ones you don't.
Many older houses have carpet in them, but after decades of living the carpets look stained and outdated. Hardwood floors are more durable and long-lasting than carpets.
Paint the walls of any room that is looking tired and outdated. A simple coat of paint will transform a room quickly. It does not cost much to paint, and it will significantly add value to your home. You'll find that light, airy shades complement the widest variety of different furnishings and decorating styles.
You do not have to have a mansion to have a chandelier. Some chandeliers are not very expensive at all, and can provide a very elegant look in your dining room. Of course, in the meantime, the chandelier is going to provide some beautiful lighting and it will create a brilliant ambiance for the home.
For all except the very smallest home improvement projects, putting together an estimate of all the building materials required before starting work is vital. You can save money if you purchase your materials in bulk. Some materials and equipment that may be needed have significant lead times. If you don't order ahead of time, the delivery of some materials might be delayed, holding up your entire project.
If a contractor tells you they will finish the job in time period that is not realistic, do not use him. Contractors may find it more lucrative to finish jobs quicker. They need to move on to the next paying job. This could be bad because the contractors could attempt to charge extra for overtime that wasn't really needed.
Don't just hire the cheapest contractor available. While it may seem to be a good deal, some contractors quote very low to get a job, and begin to rack up charges while they work. In other cases, contractors will put in minimal effort in exchange for your discounted price. Make sure you are well-informed about the project that needs to be done, and use that as your basis for choosing a contractor.
The bristles will wear out more quickly if your store your broom with the bristles on the ground. Rather, keep the broom lifted off of the ground so that the bristles stay intact and maintain longevity. In addition, hang mops in such a way that they can dry thoroughly so that mildew does not form.
Try your best to obtain a good estimate of the home improvement project at hand. A common mistake of homeowners is underestimating the amount of money they would be spending. Get multiple estimates and try to be prepared for unexpected complications.
Ceiling fans are a great way to boost air circulation in your house. The fans can reduce your reliance on the air conditioner in the summer and they can push warm air downward in the winter, making your furnace usage more efficient. Most fans can switch directions to draw air upward or push it downward, depending on your needs.
It costs more to add carpeting to areas where people will often walk. It won't take long at all before the carpet is ruined. All it takes is a few people tracking their mud across it to ruin it for good. This means it will need replacement sooner, too. Instead of carpet, look into dirt resistant materials like linoleum or tile.
If you're looking to replace your home's siding, you should start by thinking about the best way to insulate. Not only do you save money on energy bills, but you also recoup your investment through increased resale value. As a result, you will have more money to spend on other projects.
Perhaps you were of the belief that doing home improvements without a contractor would be tough. If you use the information provided by this article, you may be able to do at least some projects without any outside help.

If you don't get your contractor's attention and make sure they understand what you want, the contractor can accidentally do something wrong. Make sure your contractor is listening and understands what you are telling him. Look at the low areas around your property, including those near the foundation of the house.

In terms of renovating your roof, use white tiles or other similarly-hued materials. Lighter colors reflect the sun instead of absorbing it, which means your attic will not be so hot.
