i graduated college today!
#pretty cool huh#and I got all A's this semester even though I didn't think I would#and my girlfriend and their mom came to my graduation which is so sweet 🥺#also the craziest thing happened afterwards#we went out to dinner and ordered some alcohol so the waitress carded me#and she saw on my ID what state I'm from and said she was also from there#which was already like “wow cool! what a coincidence”#but then she saw what town I'm from and wow guess what she's from there too#and we're like “omg that's crazy. what schools did you go to?”#and turns out she went to the same middle school as me#so we ask her how old she is and she's only two years older than me#so holy shit!! this random stranger from a random part of the country went to middle school with me#and just so happened to wait our table tonight#like! maybe we knew each other and forgot after all these years. honestly she looked kind of familiar at first glance#crazy stuff#I'm gonna look her up in my old yearbook when I get home

The lights beamed across the floor of the karaoke bar, a small disco ball decorating the ceiling of the room, drenching the room in small flickering lights, the floor and the small platform was covered in confetti, probably from a previous party.
I looked around for my girlfriend who thankfully was right behind me, following me like a lost puppy.
"You good hon?" I yelled over the beating music of the speakers and whoever was singing
"Yeah I'm fine" She smiled, still a nervous blush adorned her cheeks and tip of her nose at the closeness of the crowd
We had been invited to a karaoke bar by taigen, akemi, and mizus best friend ringo after we had officially become girlfriends after months of dating and even more pining and flirting (though the flirting was more you while mizu did the blushing ;])
I grabbed her hand as we made our way to the bar, sending akemi a quick text that we had arrived and were grabbing drinks
Hey!! We're here js grabbing drinks what room r yall
We're in room 4 ☺️
Great well be there soon!
"Mizu! Their in room 4!" I yelled over to my girlfriend as she grabbed our drinks, I leaned over grabbing mine from her hand
"Great, are you ready?" She inquired
"Yeah! Cmon let's go!" I said radiating excitement.
We made our way through the crowd mizu grabbed my hand squeezing it, obviously uncomfortable with the overwhelming amount of people, I gently pulled her arm towards me, her front pressed against my back.
"You good baby?" I whisper yelled into her ear to ensure she could hear me
"Yeah, crowds just a little much" She sputtered, flashing me a small smile "let's just get to the room, I think it's upstairs
"Ok" I nodded at her, changing directions and heading towards the stairs, not letting go of her hand
Once we finally made it to the room I knocked to let akemi know we were there
"Y/n! Hey omg it's been to long" She squealed as she hugged me
"Its been 2 days" I laughed
"I know! Way to long" She said back with a giggle at the end as she moved over to hug mizu
"Oh mizu! Youre gonna love this! Don't worry" akemi said since mizu had always been the shyest of the group so obviously karaoke would send mizu into a spiral, I mean cmon, singing infront of people? Are you crazy? But she had been convinced somehow
As mizu and I followed akemi into the room, taigen was already belting his heart out to an katy perry song, clearly already very tipsy
"HI mizu" ringo smiled brightly at his bsf
"Hey" She smiled back, moving to sit next to him, dragging you lightly behind her by your intertwined hands
"Mizu! Cmon sing with me!!" Taigen yelled drunkenly at her
"No I'm good" She chuckled nervously, obviously very uncomfortable with the idea of singing katy perry I front of her brand new girlfriend
However that attitude changed the second te alcohol hit her system
2 hours later, 5 drinks in, and at least 17 songs later, mizu had been convinced to start singing, as I was laughing at taigens idiocy with akemi and ringo, mizu and taigen were searching for more songs to do
"The Heather's? Tf is that" taigen slurred, the alcohol had already hit his system awhile ago
"They have heathers?!?!" I practically jumped from my seat, rushing over to where my girl friend and taigen were sitting, pushing taigen away
"Oh my God no way I fucking love them!!" I said towards mizu
"You watched the heathers?" Mizu said, kind of thunderstruck
"Yes!! I used to be the biggest theater kid" I said vibrating with excitement as I looked ta the songs
Mizu just sat there with the biggest doe eyes looking up at me"What?" I laughed as I looked at her adorable shocked expression
"I didn't know you liked them" She mumbled looking away shyly her blush turning a bright red making her palms sweat
"Cmon! Sing with me!" I said as I turned on dead girl walking
We spent the rest of the time belting out lyrics and arguing about the best song/musical, and ofc my favorite was ride the cyclone while mizus was phantom of the opera
Once everyone was all tired out mizu and I headed toward my car
"So.." mizu started, something obviously on her mind
"So..." I said with a giggle bumping her
She let out a small laugh, her blush from earlier returning once more
"I didn't take you as a theater kid" She stumbled out
"No?" I laughed
"No definitely not" She laughed back
"Well aren't I just full of suprises" her blush deepening as I winked at her, throwing my arm around her neck, forcing her down a bit since she was very tall, leaving a few pecks on her cheek, finding it oh so amusing as to watch her blush become deeper and deeper turning her into a tomato
"Alright alright cmon we gotta get home" She stuttered out
"Whatever you say Rudolph" I winked and laughed at her annoyed expression, opening the passenger door for her
We rode home with the ride the cyclone soundtrack on low as I told her all about the plays I did in middle school and high school
"No way you were in a Beetlejuice play you're fucking with me" She said with a laugh
"I'm not!" I giggled at her punching her lightly
"What part?" She said through her laughter
"Lydia deetz!!" I said still laughing along with her
"No way you got a lead part”
“I did!!”
Once we got home and changed into pajamas, I put on beetle juice and we spent the rest of our night cuddled up watching our favs
"Goodnight Rudolph" I mumbled sleepily with a subtle smirk adorning my face
"Goodnight my little theater kid" She said right back

Leaves crunch against your feet as you lift your head up with a smile, eyes closing as you take in the quiet morning as you walk to school, one hand clutching your backpack and the other holding your phone which kept buzzing
You shrug it off, thinking maybe your friends were going crazy again and we're on each other's necks, you only wanted peace and nothing else so you drop your phone in your backpack
"Yuvie!" You turn your head to your name being called, the peaceful demeanor quickly changing to you trying to not blush as you see your crush Nicholas run up to you
"Hey, you're early too" he strikes a conversation bit awkwardly, you just nod and wallk with him
Walking to school with him wasn't any new to you or him, you two always were early so you just started walking to school and he'd drop you back home too
You notice how your hands kept brushing past his, red spreading across your cheeks as you power your head, hand gripping onto the backpack as your heart goes crazy
Nicholas however notices how you were red, his mind thinking you were probably just too cold so he mindlessly takes off his hoodie and drapes it on you and walks like he didn't just worsen your condition
"What?" Nicholas asks trying to find out why you were growing redder each second, you just shake your head, "you dint talk much do you?" He asks again, now smiling, "i prefer to hear people talk" you say shrugging as you look away
"I like that about you" he states, you look at him, now it was his turn to be red, "hm?" You ask tilting your head in confusion, "you listen, not many people listen to others, you're actually a sweet girl and i love that about you" he states again looking away, you bite back a smile and just nod, "you missed your class" you say to which he stops in his tracks and runs back to his , "thank you!" He yells before stumbling into his class, "cute" you mumble and walk into your class
"Aw is yuvie thinking of her crush again?" Her friends state as they coo at the girl who shot a glare at them, "don't even start, it's only 8 am, save the readings for later" she huffs as she buries her head in her arms, only to smile and kick her legs mentally at the cute interaction between her crush and her
"Psst, Yuvie." You heard a familiar voice call out to you. Turning around, you spot Nicholas, the boy that makes your heart go crazy. "Hey, Nico." The shyness in your voice didn't go unnoticed. Nicholas finds it so cute. He can't even hide the way he smiles upon hearing your voice. "How are you today?" Nicholas' charming smile makes your heart beat faster and your face feel hot. "I'm doing fine I guess, what about you?" You struggle to make eye contact with him. Another thing he finds so cute. "I was doing okay, but I'm feeling great now that I'm speaking to you." His flirtatious words always managed to make you feel weak in the knees. "Oh hush." You giggled and so did Nicholas. Whether you knew or not, you were so important to him.
"Nicho... it's been a while now, don't you think you should confess?" Jo suggested. "I mean.... yeah... I've been thinking about it." Nicholas scratched the back of his neck nervously, thinking about how he should go about confessing. "If anything, please be like Jo who got his girl and not like Maki who's still contemplating on if he should confess to Ma-" "Zip it." Maki glared at Eujoo. "My bad." Eujoo let out a nervous chuckle. "You're right though, it's time I let Yuvie know how I feel."
The day was coming to an end. You were peacefully walking home, when suddenly your stomach began to growl. 'Should I grab something to eat?' You thought to yourself. "Hey you!" Nicholas whisper shouted. "You scared me!" You playfully hit his arm. "Why are you walking all alone?" Nicholas continued walking beside you. "Because.... I am." Nicholas chuckled at your answer. "Okay then. Hope you don't mind me joining you." Nicholas winked. "No, I don't mind." That feeling in your chest came back. The beat of your heart speeding up.
"You okay?" Nicholas tilted his head to the side, eyes showing concern. "Oh, yeah I'm fine.... just a little hungry." You avoided making any eye contact with him and continued walking. "Oh really? I can buy you something to eat." Nicholas offered. "No, it-" "What would you like?" He smiled at you. "Hmmm, maybe fries." You finally mustered up the courage to look him in the eyes. "Got it." Nicholas held eye contact for a moment, taking in how beautiful you are.
"Are you sure?" You slowly took the cup of grapes out of his hand. "Yes, anything to see my girl happy." Nicholas didn't mean to let that last part slip out, but he hoped you didn't notice. However, you did. "Did you just call me.. your girl?" The heat rose to your cheeks as you processed what he said. "Well, I just exposed myself." He couldn't stop himself from laughing. "What do you mean?" You couldn't believe the situation. Was Nicholas about to....confess?
"I like you, Yuvie...so much." Nicholas leaned a little closer to you. "I..... like you too." You shyly smiled, lowkey enjoying where this was about to go. "Will you be my girlfriend?" Nicholas' gaze made you feel a lot of things. You honestly forgot you were in public. "Yes!" The excitement in your voice was amusing to Nicholas. Suddenly, he brought his face even closer to yours and placed a little peck on your lips. "That's all?" Even though the peck was just a second, you still felt the feeling of his lips lingering. "We're still in public silly, I'll kiss you properly in private, so let's go." Nicholas smirked at how you looked away upon hearing his words. Well, now you had to get going because you definitely wanted Nicholas to kiss you properly.

[Chapter 1] - POMNI
After I became conscious again, there was this bright array of colors just seemingly bouncing off the walls of everywhere in front of me. It was almost too much to take in. I felt like I was drowning in this satirical sense of nowhere but somewhere- somewhere I couldn't understand. In front of me was these characters. Like I was in a cartoon. They had wacky appearances and looked like kids toys. It was so crazy, had I finally lost my mind.
"WELCOME TO THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS!", exclaimed a voice sounding like an old school television host for a commercial. This is all so much like a TV show. What is this. Where am I? Who am I? Why am I here? Thinking about everything all at once almost had me going bonkers. I stopped to regain what little sense of self I had and tried to force myself to stop winding down the tunnel of endless questions in my head.
"Who- who are you people?", I asked nervously. My teeth were chattering and my eyes were twitching and my hands...
Nevermind that, I need to know where I am.
"Ugh, Caine your silly prop is gonna make us have to redo everything again. This doesn't happen to be a new character....right?", a lanky purple bunny wearing a bright pair of overalls was smiling from ear to ear but he obviously wasn't happy. He sighed and folded his arms. Ah, this must be a dream. That's why everything is so crazy and colorful and a mess.
"No, this is a new person trapped inside the amazing world of the digital circus and now we have the time to help her determine her new identity here since she has lost her own when she came into our world.", Caine was flying and talking while throwing up gestures like he was presenting in front of an audience. But what audience. I collapsed and threw my hands onto my ears and started to lose my thoughts into the overwhelming abyss that was now my mind. Who am I. Who am I. Who am I. Who am I. Who-
"Now, now, before you mentally collapse we need to make you a new personality. Let's start with your name! Let's see! How about the name XDDCC?"
After pulling out a huge slot machine showing letters and pushing the bar down the letters just came up on their own. How did he- OMG this is bad. This is really bad. I must've overdosed or, or worse collapsed somewhere in a coma or something. I think about how this doesn't make sense, and the name doesn't make sense. Then I turned my head to the ringmaster, Caine, now looking at me with even more enthusiasm.
"Um, I-", I try to talk but then I'm cut off my Cain again.
"Right, so let's choose another one!"
He pushes the bar down again and the letters start to move until it stops at...POMNI.
Is that gonna be my new name. Is that who I am now. While I was thinking I looked at the corner of my eye and saw the same purple bunny. He was looking at me with a smile but also narrowed his eyes like he was trying to figure out what I was thinking.
"This POMNI girl doesn't seem to grasp the fact that she can't leave quite yet.", he stated in an almost sarcastic tone.
"H-hey, I- um.", I tried to say something back but I couldn't think of what.
"It's okay, because in this world anything is possible! Except for escaping that is, you all can never escape and neither can I! We're all trapped here so we might as well forget our very existences before and focus on developing our characters for this new world!"
Caine's eyes grew bigger and bigger between the teeth that was his head. I never thought much about his looks till now because of everything going on, but his head was a chatterbox toy. Creepy....
I turn my head again and notice more characters. One looked concerned but like she was trying to keep a positive outlook on things and gave me a awkward smile while rubbing her arm to comfort herself. She looked like a rag doll with red hair and a tattered purple dress on. Her eye, was a button.
What's going on!?!?!?!?

"Danny boy, over here!" I shouted out in a strange ass voice. Why do I have to be so loud?
I rolled my eyes and took a deep breath. He quickly glanced over to me rushing to make his way over.
"Y/n, I'm so glad you could make it out tonight." He gently kisses my cheek while bringing me in for a hug. I smiled showing a little teeth, following him inside the restaurant.
I greeted each one of the Kiszka's one by one until Jake. I stared at him and said my friendly hello his way, not even hugging him, with that I sat down kindly. He ignored me at first until Josh hit his arm signaling I was speaking to him, ass!
I've known each of these boys from school, Danny is my best friend. He introduced me to the Kiszka brothers meanwhile Jake has always picked on me. I thought maybe he could like me but he had other reasons. I ignored him and continued to order my food and of course wine. I need it!
We all fight over paying the bill but Josh ends up winning that battle. We walk outside and into the parking garage, I followed Dan to his car because I've had too many glasses of wine.
"What's wrong, can't drive yourself."
I hear a voice behind me, scaring the living shit out of me. I jumped and sighed when it was him.
"Do you happen to be a jerk every time you get the chance to talk to me?" I stated very calmly considering how much I drank. He proceeds to smile at me while smirking. He really thinks this is a game, doesn't he? Dan's chatting with Sam and Josh while I'm in the corner, with Jake.
"I'm sorry y/n, I know I've always been hard on you." He jokes around a little. I look at him up and down which was a mistake. When did he get so hot? I've always had an eye for him but he looks so different, so mature.
"Um, hello? Earth to y/n." He waves his hand over my face.
"Yes. But that's in the past right? You don't have to act like that anymore, Jakey. We're not in high school anymore remember?" I say as I stick my tongue out at him because two can play baby.
"You know what you're a-" Jake is interrupted by Sam.
"JAKEEE, YY/NN!" He motioned us towards the heard, thankfully. I followed Jake but suddenly I'm on the ground. All because of my fucking shoe. Heals to the trash now I'm very upset, I just got these.
"Omg y/n, are you okay?" I hear Dan say, following along with Sam and Josh. But Jake, laughing by the car. What is wrong with him!
"I'm fine, just a scratchy scratch y'all." Sam helps me up, he's so sweet. I hold onto him so I can take my shoes off. Barefoot I go. I look down at my knees to see they are scraped up and now bleeding.
"Want me to carry you back to the car?" Sam smiled at me.
"Sam, I don't need you to carry my fat ass." I say laughing. Sam nudged me to calling myself names, I mouthed sorry to him.
Jake ran over to us now making sure if everything was alright. Was he that drunk.
"Y/n you can have my shoes if you want?" Jake says while removing his shoes from his feet.
"No thanks, I'm good to walk to the car it's just over there." I giggled while pointing as we headed over to them.
"Now let's go to my place and have a few drinks, chill by the fire." Josh says and we all head out to Josh's house.
I go in Dan's car while Jake asked if he can come along. I smiled but and got in the back seat. Biting my lip my thoughts were racing. Why was Jake turning you on for no reason? I roll my window down to get some air. That's what I needed. My hair was blowing, my eyes were closed, and I had no care in the world. I started to smile.
I opened my eyes to only find Jakes on mine. He was looking at me in the mirror from the passenger seat, I swallowed so loudly I know he heard me. He was winking at me. What a flirt. I smiled at him then rolled my window up. Keeping my laugh to myself.
We pull into Josh's drive way, finally. Get me out of this car I need a drink. I try to open the door but it has already been open, by the one and only Jake.
Seriously... This is going to be such a long night. I'm not prepared for.
Jake helps me out the Jeep but I don't walk next to him I run to Danny's side whispering in his hear. Needed to tell him what games Jake has up his sleeves. Dan gasp at the thought of Jake ever being mean to me, Jake's eyes in this direction, I form a wicked smile. He shook it off and we finally walked inside. Josh's house was so big and beautiful, they must be getting big to afford something so beautiful. I head off to the bathroom first to "freshen" up, but really I needed to look my best.
After hearing the directions to the bathroom I eventually found it.
I meet back up with the boys who are all sitting on the couch with beers.
"Y/n, need a beer? I have some wine too." Josh implied smiling at me.
"Yes please, th-thank you Josh." With that he got up motioning me to come with him in the kitchen.
My hair is down, it's so fucking long it's to my ass. I usually have hair ties on me, but I was almost late to dinner I have no time. I take a deep deep breath and look at Josh, who's already pouring me a glass of wine.
"I figured you'd like the wine." Josh sits at the bar I join him.
"Actually yes! I love wine. Thank you again for dinner, and of course having me over. I haven't seen y'all in a hot minute. How're you really?" I stare into Josh's eyes while sipping my wine. This wine is so fucking good.
"It's nice that you actually agreed to come to dinner this time, y/n. I've missed you! We've been great, fans are getting wilder." He laughs to himself as I join him.
"Yeah I know, I've flaked a few times. I'm sorry honestly. I was so caught up with my writing, college, trying to get published. It's not easy. I've missed you all as well, you guys are my whole life." I take a little chug needing more wine. Josh gets up knowing too, filling my cup up even more. Josh and I actually dated in high school, so our chemistry is real. I only went to shows with them the first year, then decided I needed to focus on my career path.
"You have a beautiful home Josh, amazing really!" I look around the kitchen to only be stared down at by Jake. He approaches us in a soft way.
"So you guys are just going to hangout alone in here or come hangout by the fire?" Jake says as he's smirking.
Josh and I look at each other but before I could speak Josh does for me. It's getting really hot in this moment.
"Give us a minute, we just came in here Jake."
He sounded upset with him, I couldn't blame him.
Jake turns around and heads back to the laughing filled living room. They all go outside. I'm now left alone with Josh. I've had a few drinks, I don't want any anything to happen.
""Y/n, I meant what I said. I've missed you so much. I'm so happy to see you here." He leans in rubbing my lower back. I lean in closer to him grabbing my glass to drink.
"You never decided to reach out to me before, why now?" I've grown very much so without them, I've grown a thick wall of protection so I don't get hurt AGAIN. Josh blinks while taking a sip of his beer.
"You never agreed to come to anything we invited you to. I thought you hated me, I thought we left on a good note."
He looks at me worriedly. I place my hands on his. He's so cold Jesus.
"We did, I was just really busy. Let's forget about it now, we're here together. Let's just go outside and enjoy the fire."
I smile and got up. Josh wrapped his arms around me, I hugged him back. He was smelling my hair. His lips found their way to my neck, I then pushed back.
"Josh. I haven't seen you in how long? Years! Doesn't mean you can just kiss me sir!"
I laugh and wobble a bit. He backs up putting his hands up to defense, I finish my glass of wine. Josh takes my glass and opens the liquor cabinet.
"Want a shot?" He grabs two little glasses. I guess I have to.
"Okayyy, fine!" I gave in. We took 2 shots each.
"No more! That's all I'm drinking." I laugh stumbling next to Josh.
"Whoa there, this is a family show! You need to calm down." Josh says in this weird accent. Making me spill out laughing so loud. We're both laughing. We end up on the floor together, I tripped on his foot. Why am I so damn clumsy.
"Jakes gonna get mad if we don't head out there right now." I continue to laugh looking in Josh's direction.
"Fine, let's go. I'll help you up."
He gets up first to help me but walks to the liquor cabinet again.
"Josh another?" I ran over to him, he's handing me another shot. I take this one down with ease.
"Now we're ready." Josh places his hand on my back to guide me outside.
"Wow look who decided to show up!" Danny shouts at us. Sam and Jake having their own conversation.
I sit next to Dan but Josh comes to join me, right next to me.
"What we're you guys doing?" Sam says looking in our direction.
"Taking shots!" I laugh looking at Josh, he gets up and stats doing this dance thing. The way his ass is looking right now, I have to look away.
"So you're getting y/n hammered the first night you see her Josh?" Jake shouts chugging down his beer.
Why was he being so weird today, I don't get it. I look at Josh for his answer, because I need to know.
"Yeah Josh, why are you getting me so drunk?" I jokingly laugh. He shrugs it off ignoring his brother. As you should!
Music is playing, the wind is blowing slow, the fire is crackling. This seems so fake but it's these moments I crave, peace. I get up and start to dance with my eyes closed. Letting the wind take me away. I hear a lighter being sparked as I open my eyes, Josh is passing me a joint.
"Perfect ass timing." I grab the joint to inhale, wait a few seconds with my eyes closed. I exhale slowly passing it to Dan.
"I'm having such a great time y'all, thanks for having me." I smile at everyone trying to get them included.
"I need to be on your level right now y/n." Jake says across the fire. My level? Am I getting too crazy..
"Well let's go take a shot Jake? If you're willing to." I get up and head to the kitchen. I start to pour the shots for myself until Jake blinded me with his hands.
"Jakeee, I need to see to take this shot." He uncovered his hands and takes them one of the glasses from my hand.
"Cheers!" We clanked our cups, throwing my head back. Damn.
"I think that's enough... for me." I walk to the couch and sit down for a minute. My head is spinning, I haven't drank this much since the shows.
Jake follows me sitting next to me.
We start to have conversations that I would never expect to have with Jake. He has me laughing and smiling. This was the old Jake until last year of high school. Turned into a douche bag, but he's not bad after all. We've shared a couple makeouts here and there, but nothing more.
"Jake, can I ask you something?" I stare directly in his eyes.
"What we're you gonna call me earlier? Before we were interrupted by Sam." I giggle because he was probably calling me a bitch.

"I hope so, or I'll kick your ass if your lying." I joke while shoving him. He starts to tickling me, making me laugh so loud causing the boys to all enter in.
"Did I miss anything here?" Josh shouts and head to the kitchen. I wanna talk to Josh in the kitchen so I began to collect myself and relax.
I stood up but only to fall down and onto Jakes lap. Of course. His hands grabbing onto my lower body to keep me up.
"I'm sorry, I really am." I try to get up but Jake is stopping me, holding me down tighter. He whispers in my ear.
"No you're not." His breath hot tickling my neck. I manage to get up but he picks me up.
"Jake put me down!" He smiles as he's carrying me up the stairs.
"You need to be put to bed, look at you you're a mess." He opens a door and throws me onto the bed. My whole dress moves up exposing my ass.
I don't think too much of it the air feels good on my skin.
"Listen, I've always had a crush on you. Seeing you tonight, made me realize I need you in my life." He starts to rub up to my exposed ass.

Jakes POV
As soon as I ran to my room I shut the door and locked it quick. I don't remember Y/n ever looking like this, so different. I couldn't wrap my head around it, but I wanted her. I lay on the bed to find my hands around my belt buckle, to only undo them. I unzip them throwing them to the side.

"I'm taking you!" He guides me out as we head down stairs.
If Jake is down there he's going to think I slept with Josh. Which I didn't. Why was I so focused on his opinion anyways. Hmm.
We reach down the stairs and of course they are all up making breakfast, Sam was playing a little bit of piano. It's literally 10am, insane.
I sped up to get away from Josh to say my goodbyes to sam.
"Bye Daniel I'll see you later, work awaits for me."

I get to Jake and hug him goodbye. He hugged me back tightly, pulling apart to face me. I stare in his eyes and blush.

Josh is dragging me away as they all wave us goodbye.
Josh is walking so fast we get to the car but Josh opens my door for me. He's trying really hard. He left me, and that was that. He didn't say why either I didn't get it. Now he wants to try to get with me... I just don't know how I feel about it at all.
"Thank you." I smile at him looking outside the window I see Jake. Looking right out the kitchen window, his eyes are on me. I can barely see him but I see him waving me off. I roll my window down.
"Byeee!" Waving back at him to only pull out the driving way fast.
Josh drops me off, I wave him off.
"Thanks for everything last night." I say leaning down at the car window.
"Of course, I don't mind. I'll have dinner ready tonight after work. So you don't starve." He laughs showing his teeth.
"I'll take it! Bye Josh." I turn away to go inside. He waits to drive off before seeing me go inside. Such a gentlemen.
I proceed to get ready and head to work, getting excited for tonight I can't wait.
Work always exited me in a damn office sitting all day. That's the writers life though! I was in such a great mood, I knew tonight was going to be amazing.
Josh's POV
I get home and find Jake immediately. Between his interaction with Y/n, it was strange. I didn't like it at all. If he's trying to get with her I swear, he's had his chances way before. I know I just called things off with her but after seeing her in years, she's changed. What is so different about her, she's more to herself for sure. I needed to crack what she had sealed closed, I'm going to have her. I need her...
"Jake we need to talk!" I shout finding him on the couch with his guitar.
"Why are you screaming?" He looks at me while setting his guitar in its case.
"I need to know.. I need to know if you're into her." I say as calmly as I could staring at Jake.
"Into who? You need to be more clear, Joshua." He rolls his eyes. He fucking knows who, damn it.
"Jake, don't play stupid. I seen the way you were looking at her." I swallow.
"What about last night on the couch, then in the bedroom!"
"Calm down Josh. You've had your chance. You think she's into me?" He smirks. What's an asshole.
"Seriously. I'm the one who dated her, I know her deeper than you know." I'm beyond pissed at this point. Furious! How dare he.
"Look, I think she's into me. I mean she did kiss me last night." She what? With Jake...
"It's not our first kiss either, and it won't be our last. I'm sorry Josh. I like, like her."
My head was racing so fast, I needed to cool down. I stormed off into the kitchen, grabbing a whole bottle of alcohol. No wonder she was acting distant towards me because, she had Jake on her mind this whole time. I'm still going to try to win her back. No girl has ever came between us before, I hated fighting with my brother.
I start to chug the bottle and feel at ease now. Let my mind win over my thoughts, my body taking over. I head down to start to cook for Y/n, I told her dinner would be ready when she had got here. I'm still going to cook for her, I'll have Sam and Danny help me. I don't even want to look at Jake.
Your POV
I'm home yay. I shower to get ready for tonight. I will be letting Josh know that I just wanna be friends with him, nothing more. To say that I will be giving Jake a chance, I'm so nervous to tell him.
Got me blushing like a school girl over here. I don't wear anything to showing but, I loved my crop tops with my jeans.
I just wore my hair down from the shower and grabbed my keys. I'm gonna drive my car this time so I have a ride home.

I sit down to be greeted with Jake bringing me a beer. It wasn't my favorite, but it'll do. He sits next to me making this tension worse. Josh looks this way.
"Dinners ready if you're hungry Y/n." Sam says loudly.
"Sure! Who cooked." I got up heading inside.
"Josh and I." Sam had stated. I smiled even bigger. Awe.
"Hey I helped!" Danny says in defense. I feel so lucky to have a home cooked meal, ready for me after work.
"Thank you all, you guys have been nothing but nice to me." I sit down at the table.
Josh serves my plate and chooses to sit next to me. Of course he does.
We're all eating and I feel something up my leg. Jake is sat across from me, I know it's him. I clear my throat to speak.
"Lovely dinner everyone."

I was also writing this fic during a few very difficult parts of my life so I really leaned HARD into those aspects of their character. Something I also mentioned a few times is that I used to write stuff on wattpad, I got burnt out, and then I didn't post fic for five years (which now that I think of it, technically not true because I did post some things on amino back in high school, but y'know). I never really stopped writing, though. Gave me room to experiment and because I'm A) a lifelong fan of the dark and macabre (even though I'm actually a bit of a chicken baby), and B) very depressed/anxious, naturally I leaned more into darker writing. I liked to make it a point of writing happy endings but I would put my charcters through the fucking wringer.
I was also a huge people pleaser in high school that didn't know how to make friends aside from the ones I already had. You can imagine how fucking devastated I was when one day, fuckin completely out of the blue, I was booted from my friend group. I only had like five friends and I kept two of them after that shit. One of those friends was a girl I had known since first grade. For the next two years right up until covid hit I was like "well fuck, Charlotte, guess you've only got two friends now. It's only a matter of time before they get sick of you too." It took me maybe a year for me to realize it wasn't my fault that the people I trusted turned out to be shitty, and it wasn't until like a year or two ago that I was able to actually open up and talk about that shit because I've been terrified to actually be vulnerable with people since then.
That's only like some of my damage, I've also got the eldest daughter and "ah fuck I think I'm undiagnosed neurodivergent" trauma. Two for one combo! Love it here!
So, yeah, I got pretty good at writing and specifically writing about people dealing with toxic relationships. Part of it is venting, part of it is wanting to raise awareness for these things, and part of it is just, idk, I like writing this stuff. I'll write whatever if it's interesting enough.
Anyways, thank you so much!!! There's more I could go on about but that's spoilers, so I just wanna say I'm really really happy you like what I've done! Put my heart and soul into this baby. Rudimentary study of how language relates to colors? 👀 (Several of my uni classes have addressed how language is tied to cultural nuances, so my curiosity is piqued.)
Right, so [crack knuckles and stretches] - this story goes in all different directions but OMG I'm so excited to tell it soooooo, sorry not sorry.
I'm big into color, like my favorite task at my part-time job in high school was organizing the thread towers or being let loose on the wall of broadcloth solids to make sure everything is in rainbow order. So needless to say I have a fair obsession with paint chips and the paint/color displays at home improvement stores. Which was a large foundational reason I chose this project.
My major in undergrad was Japanese and all language majors had to take a few basic linguistic courses, which was unfortunately, a class I did not enjoy because the International Phonetic Alphabet is so confusing to me and probably the TA teaching it didn't explain it well. (That said, etymology and language evolution FASCINATES ME. Ask me about words, any day, any time, any place.)
So we had our year end project and we had to conduct our own language experiment. None of this class (or any undergraduate class) has gone over how to read, conduct, or run research projects so we're all flying fairly blind in this and approaching it with the brain of an undergraduate but the scientific method of a sixth grader submitting something to the science fair.
One thing we . . . read? discussed? (I dunno how I stumbled across it in this class) that we touched on at some point was how researchers were starting to really look into how different language speakers categorized color. So I, of course, immediately decided something about THAT was going to be my final project. Because color! Because paint chips!
I wheedled someone with a car to drive me to the local Lowe's (or Home Depot or whatever), and just went CRAZY on collecting paint chips. And when I got back to my dorm, I randomly labeled them all with numbers. Then, I started reaching out to friends to ask around to ask for participation from people whose first language wasn't English. When I got about five or six people who weren't native English speakers and like three who were, I'd meet them and have them sort the colors into categories. No pressure on what they wanted to sort them into, but just to sort them, like colors with like colors.
After I’d note their grouping with the number on the back (i.e. group 1 had paint chips 2, 5, 19, 27, and so on) with the person’s native language and it’s language family. And then wrote it all up in a paper (mind you, see above about research not being taught so it was definitely an ESSAY over any attempt at a research paper).
And honestly, I mean, there were like ten people MAX I asked to do this, the results seemed to be very heavily skewed towards languages really having an effect on how one groups color or mentally categorizes it.
It's like the idea of orange, you know. Orange the color is supposedly named after the fruit, so until English speakers encountered the fruit, the color was categorized within the red or yellow family. But it could be that a language that developed in places where orange natively grew, orange might be it's own category within color.
There is a book called "Color Language and Color Categorization" edited by Geda Paulsen that I'd really like to read at some point.
But yeah, that's my long form answer!

LITERALLY THOUGH like. with sooha i WANT to like her character and mostly i DO but she has fundamentally been a reader insert protagonist from the start and its pretty easy to tell lmao. allegedly its worse in the webnovel (and from all the screenshots one of my friends sent me... y e a h) but she's still pretty heftily y/n-ified in the comic, what with all the boys being ✨mysteriously drawn to her✨ and her basically being a starry-eyes fool in front of heli lmao. we were absolutely robbed because it would have been SO COOL if they made her like... an actually interesting and compelling character... rather than just a love interest for the boys lmao. like it would have been great if she got close to the brothers and became their friend and everything SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE she wasn't disillusioned by the rest of the school's clique mentality and thought they were sort of weird. and maybe eventually theres a whole "man i feel like ive known you forever" exchange that happens between them, alluding to the whole crazy past life connection or whatever tf their deal is, but also it would be entirely platonic and just... kind of sweet, because she's the first person in SO LONG that they've been friends with that hasnt just wanted to be around them in hopes of looking cool or dating one of them. like what if sooha walked up to the brothers after hearing all the shit about them from her classmates and just went "lmfao yall are a bunch of fucking idiots arent you" and then they were friends. i think that would be neat
also now that ive gotten STARTED on this train of thought im just thinking about all the character traits i wanna see more in female characters in media, specifically protagonists... thinking about sooha WITH some of those character traits... just a very brash, not very friendly sooha that maybe built up a hard/defensive exterior due to years of being bullied and taught that showing vulnerability around people would get her hurt... a sooha that maybe isnt very nice, is a little bit mean actually, and clashes with solon because theyre both stubborn af and dont know how to converse or apologize like normal human beings... a sooha that, when heli catches her using her powers, yells "i swear to god if you tell ANYONE about this--" until he's like "whoa whoa its okay i have powers too"... a sooha that learns that being vulnerable around people and trusting people is okay actually, in an entirely platonic way... lots of thoughts hsjfbfjn

I don't blame you for not getting into 1D at all. Worst financial, social, and mental decision of my life 😭 I had just come off a HARD Twilight fixation and I was like "I don't need another obsession." But then I watched the WMYB music video and it was like the universe was all "MWAHAHAHAHA"
Snow days are actually really lovely. They add on to the end of the school year which is ANNOYING. But they're pretty nice in the moment. Especially when you DON'T lose power from the storm and can do whatever you want. Especially on a TUESDAY 😍 mid-week days off are the BEST.
I am so glad you liked MFT Part 2. I thought it was very BLEH by the end of it. The whole inexperienced thing was kind of random? I am interested to see where my brain takes me.
