I’m going to be blunt with you - I don’t think you genuinely work for the media or PR as you say. You keep throwing around “facts” and then when you give us ideas (such as the 3-5 album ordeal) - you instantly back away and then change it around. If you’re supposedly a Shawn fan, you would see he is being mistreated. Even if artists have a say, you can see is mistreated by his clout team. ALL PR Stunts do not go past a whole year, so it is obvious they are setting up for a single release (1)
To build on “breakup” album. Even with the pandemic, the pattern is still there. If he isn’t breaking up with his team this year, I don’t see it going past the first few months of 2021. He is unhappy. You can tell he is a puppet. Don’t come at us for being worried and figuring out how soon it will end. There are many other sources out on the media saying this is a job/stunt and it will end soon. (2)
So first off, brave of you to hide behind an anon ask. Let’sset some facts and records straight here cause I’m not here for bullshit and I’mfar too old for fandom petty nonsense.
I’ve never said I was media. I’ve always said I worked inPR. If you check back into my gettingon my PR soapbox tag, I’ve been doing these posts since May 2011. Wellbefore my foray into the Shawn fandom. So, here’s almost a decade of receiptsprior to me stepping foot into this space talking about PR, touring, ticketing, the music industry, the PR industry.
Also, want some receipts that way with am I really a PRprofessional with oodles of experience? So, I’ve known @suzteel, @andiwontforgetyou (previously @facethefall-blog) & @whenidance for ages – helloIRL friends, all these girls have been with me through ups and downs of jobsand clients, both have been with me at events when I’m working or had access tobecause of work. We’ve gone on vacations together, been at each other’s houses, there in good times and in bad. I wouldn’t have gotten through losing my Mom alittle over two years ago without these ladies. Fun fact, D (@suzteel) & N (@andiwontforgetyou) aren’t even IN this damn fandom so there’s no point in them‘vouching’ for me for clout and L (@whenidance) is one of my best friends goingon almost a decade and knows more about me than anyone aside from my childhoodbestie. It’s my fault L is actually a Shawn fan and why we went on a massivelyinsane road trip for this kid last year. L also has been with me repeated timeswhen I’ve been with one of my former clients in a social setting.
Also, I’m not in this to become fandom famous or internetimportant. Believe me, I have like 450 followers on this blog, most of which aredead blogs from when I was around with Glee. Also, notice I never throw theseposts into main Shawn tags. If I wanted all this glory, don’t you think I’d bedoing that? It’s all based on interacting with folks who follow me or find mewho actually have an interest in this piece of the business. This is me wanting tohelp folks who have a genuine interest. I give no shits about being some bigperson in the fandom. No thank you.
I’ve also saidbefore I never went into PR for the fame of it, to be some clout chaser orto make a fuckton of cash. It’s always been about the client and their work.Always. Their goals are what’s most paramount, be it from smaller brands andtalent to some of the A-listers and Fortune 500 companies I’ve worked with.
I’ve always said I’m going to shed light on the facts of theindustry. That’s what I did here. I’ve never interjected my opinion into itbecause facts are facts and opinions are subjective. So, I’ll call out thedifferences in here below.
The album thing? I’ve got you some receipts. I’ve never waiveredthere. I’ve never been the one to say YES HIS DEAL IS FOUR and then back away. That’swhat y’all have gravitated to due to some other folks saying that was what theythought and that was their opinion. This is the firstask I got about deals from early March and here I’ll even pull it out foryou:
Yes, the number of albums is anold industry standard, that way the label actually holds you for a bit longer -however, there have been instances where it’s based off of years.
Each label has its ownnuances and how they like to approach business. If an artist is more likely tocrank out singles or an EP before approaching a release for an LP and they’retesting the waters, a contract based off of year length may be theirgo-to.
There also could beclauses that wrap both up, saying you’ll need to release X number of albums ina Y year span.
Contracting is socomplicated and so individualized, it’s really and truly hard to say in ablanket way yes THIS is how it all shakes down.
There were posts where @thotmendes mentioned some of our conversationsand said in thispost here that I had said an industry sweet spot was 3-5, and then wentonto say that SHE thought his deal was 4.
What I said in last night’s post here for reference too:
Contract terms – you’ll see some intro deals based on years with options provided to extend based on years or albums, but we’ve got no real clue as to what the terms are with Island on this specifically. Folks keep assuming it’s 4. It could be 5, it could be 6. We don’t know what the original deal was. 3-5 is an industry sweet spot, but I’ve also seen some intro deals be 6. There could be year commitments tied into those as well aka 4 albums in 6 years, etc. Each label has its own formulaic equation as to how these things piece out and it changes per label, per artist, per genre - and how that all plays out into what the marketplace is consuming/streaming/spinning.
So please do me a favor and don’tcome at me saying I’m wavering on things without receipts. As you can see here, I haven’t.
Who said PR relationships ONLY last a year? They can be asshort or as long as people feel they need to leverage. PERSONAL OPINION ON THIS:I think PR relationships are stupid, pointless and beyond reproach. If you’re apublicist and that’s what you’re leaning on to do your job to get your clientscoverage and buzz. You aren’t worth your damn salt. Especially when you’ve gotA+ level talent you’re working with like he is. Even if you’ve got Q level talent, it’s still abullshit approach IMO. The same goes for calling/hiring out paps.
I’ve never once ‘came at fans’ for having concerns or beingconcerned. I’m concerned as well. Why I’m trying to give some color to theindustry piece of it. The only thing I said inthis post last night is that I was tired of the mistruths and conspiracytheories being spun as what’s really going on. Also – where are these “sources”out in the media saying it’s coming to an end? Blind items do not count. Ragsources are fine and dandy, but they’re also not legitimate sources. Come to mewhen you’ve got something from People, US Weekly, Billboard. Even then it’ll bewith a grain of salt until we hear it directly from their team(s) aka Dvora, theshared publicist.
MY PERSONAL OPINION: I am a Shawn fan. This kid’s music and hisshows have helped me get through some of the most difficult points in my life. Myass hiked to MEXICO CITY from NYC for his last three shows of SMTT thisDecember - the crazy road trip I referenced above with @whenidance. He gives me JOY. It’s why I care the way I do, it’s why I feel likescreaming and why I want to go legit work/help this kid out. It’s why I’mconcerned and trying to share some knowledge where I can, and what’sknowledge/facts about the industry versus what’s not true about the industry.Notice I said industry because I don’t know what this kid is wading throughright now and it’s not fair of me to say YES it’s this and assume like I haveany idea. CAUSE I DO NOT. I absolutely hate this nonsense we’re wading throughof whatever the teams have going for him/with him, I’m not a fan of this. Icame to be a fan of his, not of theirs. I don’t like what’s shaking out. Do Ifeel like this is PR? Damn right I do. Can we think this may have started outmore innocently and was positioned differently than what it’s evolved to? Yeah, for sure. BUT WE DON’T KNOW. All our thoughts are conjecture here. I don’t wantto see him unhappy, miserable, not feeling creative or supported. The wholepurpose of building a team around you that you trust is for that. I’m hoping thateven in this disasterpiece shit show, he can find that inner strength to dowhatever he needs to across the board to get back to a place where he’s feelinghimself, happy and being his own best version of the Shawn he wants to be.
Also – I’m leaving anon on for now, but if y’all can’t put on big boy/big girlpants and talk/behave like adults, it’ll go off and you’ll have to show yourface :)!

Deceit Name Theory
I’ve seen various theories about Deceit’s true name on instagram, all with various pieces of evidence, and they all make sense. I, of course, am hopping on this bandwagon to post my thoughts, and I have a few. I’m gonna adress the two theories I’ve seen, describing them, and then put my theories in. So be prepared, trust in me, and let’s get started.
First of all, I assume this name theory came long before any other; Ethan. As most of us know, when creating Patton and Logan’s name, they took inspiration from the Rhetorics. Rhetorics, from my understanding, are just three core elements in persuasiob. I just learned this one in class today, and there are three. Patton comes from Pathos, aka emotion. Pathos could be either be sad or happy, depending on the advertisement.
For example, my teacher showed us an Animal Adoption ad that featured various sad looking puppies, monochrome color pallette, and the song, In the Arms of an Angel by Sarah McLachlan. Another example could be when you see people having energy and positive vibes when around the product being sold, as it makes your mind associate the product with positivity and energy.
Moving on, one of the other rhetorics is Logos. Logos is representative of, you guessed it, Logic. It’s facts and data that you learn to understand that the product being sold is scientifically better. It’s meant to appeal to one’s intellect rather than their emotions or trust. So, they turned Logos into Logan.
Examples of this is when you see one of those, “1 of every 3 people in America are diagnosed with diabetes,” which may not be true but sounds like it should.
Finally, the last rhetoric is Ethos. This lead people to believe Deceit’s name is Ethan, as it matches both Patton’s and Logan’s name origin. Ethos itself is meant to be one of credibility and trust that someone is using their integrity to give you this information about a product, that hopefully isn’t a lie... yeah. This one sounds off, but if you think about it, Deceit knows his stuff. He’s referenced philosophers even Logan didn’t know, and he’s a part of Thomas’ self preservation and selfishness. This one’s a bit iffy, but remember that.
Now there’s another theory floating around, and I first noticed it by octobersanders here on tumblr. What they said was that in SvS, Patton dressed as Atticus Finch like from, To Kill a Mocking Bird, by Harper Lee. Thomas responds that they were correct, and they went on to examine what that could mean in terms of Deceit’s name.
Supposedly in the book (I haven’t read it yet), there is a prosecuting attorney named Horace Gilmer. They go on to then check some of the other themes, such as is it a Roman name? Is it the name of a Poet? Both of those were correct. They found one Quintus Horatius Flaccus, a Roman lyrical Poet who often would sing about love, friendships, poetry, and wait for it: Philosophy.
However, it’s faults seem to line up with the Ethan theory. Both of these concepts stem from things Deceit is not about; Friendships, Love, Truth, and integrity. Now, I think it can go one of two ways. He has both names or neither names.
Flashback to that one time Deceit jokingly teased the others, “Bad Deceit- Oh sorry Deceit!” What if it wasn’t a lie? Deceit is both literally and figuratively two faces, so would it not make sense if he were almost psychologically two faced as well? I don’t mean to say like some sort of DID exactly, but I would like point out that it may be similar. Deceit always says he’s able to not lie. Do we know this to be true? Yes. Deceit is seemingly unable to lie when in the Courtroom and directly after for a short period of time. He swore to the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and was therefor forced to reveal his reasoning for making such a big deal over the Wedding/Callback issue. He’s also able to go for a short time after without lieing, or perhaps Thomas is letting himself be true.
Either way, I believe his truth could be Ethan. It would mstch up since Ethos is Integrity. His lying could be Horus, the more philosophical and morality function of Deceit. I think it kind of makes sense, but at the same time it doesn’t, so I have a better theory.
Deceit has no “real name.” There’s so many thing to support this. He lies nearly all the time, and as mentioned earlier he can’t be truthful unless he’s been in the Court Room. So, unless we go back to the Court Room, there’s unlikely any chance of getting a straight answer out of him... unless he says, “My name is /not/ ____.” There’s also the potential that he’ll be overcome before the reveal, and then basically hardly relevant or used since Thomas will be at peace with him. Like, Remus will probably make a comeback eventually. He’s a part of Thomas’ creativity and nothing can make him go away. However, lying is something that can be stopped, but as Logan said, “No one can be a completely honest person.” Thomas could make peace with Deceit and no longer need to talk to him, causing him to just be ignored.
Back in Sanders Sides Christmas, Roman wrote down, “5 name reveals!” When questioned, Roman replied that, “Technically Thomas revealed his name in the first episode,” but we all know that’s not true. Nearly anyone who found his youtube channel will recognize him as the, “Storytime Guy,” as all the sides said in the Disney Show episode. However, there was still 5 name reveals in the series. Remus.
I don’t know where I heard it from, but I heard Virgil was a throwaway character. However, after a lot of positive audience responses they decided to keep him, and eventually integrated him into the main sides. This means that there is a point in which the series started forshadowing any and all future events. This can be shown with things such as Naked Aunt Patty slipping through Roman’s lips and showing up in DWIT, or the, “Dark Sides,” at the end of Accepting Anxiety, with Deceit and Remus showing up. So, 5 name reveals: Logan, Roman, Patton, Virgil, Remus. No Deceit.
Still, I like to think maybe his name will be Simon, as the game Simon Says exists. However, through a quick google search, there are no Roman Simons, at least not any famous ones. There is a Simon poet and a Simon philosopher, but that doesn’t exactly fit. Either way, I feel it’s an all or nothing situation.
To wrap this up, my wrist is tired, I have homework, and I love you all no romo, goodnight.

Writeris known for some controversial runs on some top books, mixing a lot of inside knowledge on character history with some alarming mayhem. He’s just picked up one of the plum roles in all of comics: writing the Harley Quinn ongoing title.  With artist Inaki Miranda on board (and some help from Mirka Andolfo, colors by Jeremiah Skipper and covers by the one and only Amanda Conner), Harley is as unfettered as ever, but a bunch of Gotham’s best known villains are standing by to give her evern more to worry about
Tieri’s also the writer on the Jughead: The Hunger ongoing from Archie, another title that turns things you think you know into a topsy turvy bloodbath.
We thought it was high time to discuss Harley and Jughead with Tieri, who reveals his plans for both titles and maybe a little insider New York knowledge..along with some prodigious hunger of his own.
THE BEAT:  I know you are good friends with Jimmy and Amanda, but you have some big platform boots to fill taking over after their iconic run on the character. (I know the word iconic is overused but it really was!) Were you at all trepidatious when you agreed to take over the book?
FRANK TIERI:  Well…Yes and no, I guess.
For one thing, I absolutely agree, while people throw around the word iconic, to me there’s no doubt about it that Jimmy and Amanda deserve their run to be called that. There may be multiple reasons why Harley is as popular as she is these days but I think it’s undeniable that they are definitely one of them.
So yeah, you do take that into account a bit when you do a book like this. You realize you have big shoes to fill. But at the same time, it’s what you work for in this industry, for gigs like this. I’ve been lucky enough throughout my career to have had runs on big books—WOLVERINE, IRON MAN, DEADPOOL, etc—so I know what comes with the territory… and hey, I welcome the challenge. All I think you can do is be yourself in these instances so don’t expect me to be aping Jimmy and Amanda—some things I do similar to what they do, some things I do different. By now at this point in my career I think fans know what I bring to the table—some humor, some violence, a lot of villain stuff, etc—and they can expect me to bring all that to my HARLEY QUINN run as well. Should be fun.
THE BEAT: J&A’s run on the book ended with the death of her friend, Mason. What’s her mind set right now? She didn’t seem quite herself when your first issue (HARLEY QUINN #35) hit last week
TIERI: She’s still reeling from Mason’s death, to be honest. It’s hit her hard and she fears that anyone around her may be in danger and she doesn’t want that. She doesn’t want that pain of losing someone again so instead, she pushes her friends away.
The problem is, of course, when you have friends like the Gang of Harleys and Red Tool and all the rest… well, they’re not exactly the listening sort, as we saw in the first iss. They’re concerned so, whether she approves or not, they’re going to keep tabs on her. (Or “Stalking” her, as Harley put it. )
So when Tony goes missing, kidnapped by a Man-Bat thing,  Harley wants to “Scooby-Doo” the mystery herself. But despite the Gang sending Red Tool after her, Harley only ends up getting taken herself.
THE BEAT: And this all leads to Harley getting changed into a bat…
TIERI: Well, we figured DC didn’t have enough versions of Harley for action figures, statues, home pregnancy tests, etc. So now you’ve got Bat-Harley to play with, kids! You’re welcome.
Anyway, yes, Harley was turned into a bat creature by Francine Langstrom last issue. Now the Gang and Red Tool have to stop the two She-bats from wrecking havoc on Coney. And, ya know… eventually turning Harley back from a giant flying rat would be nice, too
THE BEAT: I’ve also heard that you’ll be making the book a little bit more involved with the DCU, including an appearance by some other Batman villains… as you did with Man-Bat in issue 35. What can you tell us about that?
TIERI: Man-Bat and “Batter Up” is just the start, really. This arc leads directly into “Angry Bird” which basically sees Penguin declare war on Harley and all of NYC after he discovers Harley tricked him and cost him the casino he was planning in Coney (As seen in my fill in issue, HARLEY QUINN #27. See everything ties together, folks! There’s a possibility I know what I’m doing after all…).
Penguin brings a huge chunk of Batman’s Rogues Gallery with him—which for my money is the greatest Rogues Gallery in all of comics, by the way. And I’m not exaggerating when I say huge chunk—everyone from heavy hitters like Mr Freeze and Killer Croc to guys like Condiment King and Egghead… and everyone in between. It’ll be mass chaos and Coney will be worse the wear as all these villains descend on it, looking for a piece of it, even fighting amongst themselves. Needless to say, Harley will have her work cut out for her.
THE BEAT: You mention Coney…Her Brooklyn setting was a big part of the last run, will it continue to be?
TIERI: Coney will still be the focal point, yes, with a lot of jostling between the villains there and with the Gang and the rest of the supporting cast still there… but we will be branching out a bit. Harley will find herself fighting street gangs in Hell’s Kitchen, Mr Zsasaz in Yankee Stadium, the Gorilla Gang in the Empire State building… really every part of NYC.
(Living here in New York and knowing what locales would make for interesting and fun fight venues helps with a storyline like this, let me tell ya.)
THE BEAT: You’re also reuniting with your CATWOMAN artist Inaki Miranda, who I’ve admired for a long time. What are his qualities as an artist that he’ll bring to drawing Harley?
TIERI: Both Inaki and I were excited to be paired up again since we worked together so well on CATWOMAN. And, like with CATWOMAN, Inaki is really capable of handling anything I throw at him… whether it’s humorous stuff with the Gang of Harleys and Condiment King or more serious, darker stuff with Man Bat and Killer Croc.  And by the way, the guy draws a ridiculously awesome Penguin. Really could be my favorite version of the character.
And also joining us on “Angry Bird” will be the very talented Mirka Andolfo. She designed a new outfit for Harley for this arc that I just love and she’s also totally killing it.
Really, I got very lucky with the artists I’m getting to work with on this, I have to say.
THE BEAT: You had written Harley before in Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys and then in a Harley fill in before taking over. Do you have any thoughts on what has made her such a hugely popular character?
TIERI: I think there’s certain characters that just hit at the right time, for whatever reason. I think Deadpool is a character like that. And I think Harley is another. Both of them seem to me to have taken off at around the same time and I think the cosplay community plays a big role with both. Go to any convention around the country and I would say those are the top two that are cosplayed. The cons are literally swarming with them.
But with Harley in particular, I think the feminist angle also comes into play. Here’s a character that was under the thumb of arguably the greatest villain of all time—the Joker—and she broke free and now she’s doing her own thing. That’s very powerful and you can see why female comic book fans in particular would gravitate to that.
And also, lastly… I just think people like fart and dick jokes. So there’s that.
THE BEAT: You said I could ask some Jughead questions, so I’m going to sneak in a couple! You’re writing the Jughead: The Hunger ongoing in which a lycanthropic Jughead terrorizes the countryside. This launched with a one shot last year, I believe. Did you think the idea would be this popular?
TIERI: We suspected it might hit—the reason I pitched an Archie Horror comic in the first place was because the line was popular—but I don’t think any of us thought it would hit like it did. When we saw cast members from the Riverdale show tweeting about it and then it getting referenced on the Big Bang Theory, then we knew we really had something here.
THE BEAT: Seriously, Werewolf Jughead. What’s your basic approach to morphing America’s harmless teenagers into blood soaked monsters?
TIERI: Well, my initial thought was simple really–what if there was more to Jughead’s hunger than just a big appetite ? What if there was something deeper behind it… and that led to the whole werewolf concept and him munching down on the good people of Riverdale instead of hamburgers.
Add to that Betty, who was secretly a werewolf hunter who was charged with hunting down Jug and his family of werewolves, and we had ourselves a book, kids.
THE BEAT: Any hints as to where his rampage will take him?
TIERI: Jughead’s pretty much been on the run since our initial one shot, but in this week’s JUGHEAD: THE HUNGER #3, we finally get that JugWolf Vs Betty Cooper Werewolf Hunter rematch fans have been clamoring for. And it’s a doozy, let me tell ya.
Plus, we’ll get to meet the matriarch of Betty’s little werewolf hunter clan, Elena Cooper, who’ll play a big role down the line. And we’ll find up what Reggie—who was turned into a werewolf by Jug and is out for his bloodis up to, and more importantly and much more scary, WHO he’s been up to it with. Suffice to say, ain’t none of this is good for good ol’ Jug.
THE BEAT: Speaking of hunger, are you ever going to eat another giant matzoh ball?
TIERI: Ha! As a matter of fact, I did.
For those of you who don’t know what the hell we’re talking about, Heidi and I were at a con in Jersey and a bunch of us went to dinner at this deli called Harold’s where they had giant EVERYTHING. So anyway, I ended up eating a matzoh ball that was the size of a small child.
Flash forward a few months and my son’s got a karate tournament around there and yes, I ended up eating another kaiju matzoh ball with my kid. My wife thinks I’m a disgusting human being now but eh, that’s not exactly anything new.
Jughead: The Hunger #3 goes on sales this Wednesday, and Harley Quinn #35 is on sale now.
