There’s something so heartbreaking about watching your favourite parts of a tv show, the parts that you have loved for years and found so much joy in, being misunderstood, forgotten and erased by it’s predecessors.
13’s beautiful TARDIS interior, and sonic screwdriver erased to make way for nostalgia.
13’s clothes, her entire outfit, burnt up never to be seen again without any explanation.
Yaz, who 13 was in love with, who she wanted to tell everything to and spend the rest of her days with, not even mentioned - not even hinted at!
13’s character, her core personality traits and storyline reduced to ‘woman Doctor’ and fundamentally misunderstood!
13’s fam, the family that she found and built, not even mentioned or reminisced about!
I’m glad that the Timeless Child wasn’t erased, but I feel like so much else was that RTD didn’t properly watch 13’s era. It’s like he was given a summary and only took the parts that he thought was interesting.
13’s memory deserves better! She deserves to have passed on the baton to Ncuti’s Doctor, to have him running around high on regeneration energy while wearing her outfit! To use her sonic for an episode before choosing to make his own!
13 deserves to be remembered as a Doctor who was loved dearly by her companions and fans, as a Doctor who went through so much tragedy right from the start and struggled to deal with that, but still managed to face down her foes! As a someone who was optimistic and kind, but could also be cruel and harsh when needed! She was complicated, she went through so much, I love her and she will always be my Doctor.
She deserves to be remembered as more than ‘woman Doctor’, because she was so much more than that.

Steven Moffat
Gives Ten an equally important role to Eleven in his anniversary special, Makes RTD's Time War central to the episode's storyline, and resolves it in a way that doesn't undermine Nine and Ten's character arcs, gives Billie Piper a major role without infringing on Rose's storyline, gives Paul McGann the regeneration story he deserves, gets Tom Baker back on the show one last time, and gives us one very brief, tantalising tease of the next Doctor. And all this was while having no actors under contract, and BBC executives constantly interfering.
Chris Chibnall
Used his final story to bring back two beloved companions from the classic era, and gives them closure with their respective Doctors. Brings back several Classic Doctors and the Fugitive Doctor to aid Thirteen in her final battle, and revealed that companions from throughout the Doctor's life have been getting together and supporting each other, as they will now do for Yaz. And this was in the aftermath of the pandemic, and at a point when a new showrunner couldn't be found, with no idea what future the show had.
Russell T Davies
After getting near complete creative control of the show in time for the 60th anniversary, burns the Thirteenth Doctor's outfit away, immediately pivots back to his Doctor and his companion, with just some old villains to represent the other 55 years of the show. Doesn't bring back any other elements from the show's history until the third episode, and even then, has Mel and Kate play second fiddle to his characters. Doubles down on the self-indulgence of The End of Time by refusing to have Tennant regenerate at all, uses the Fifteenth Doctor's introduction to give Ten a happy ending rather than letting Ncuti Gatwa define his character on his own terms as every one of his predecessors has done. And writes the Nobles (his characters once again) as the one true found family the Doctor needs, as though the Ponds and River and Clara and the Fam were just passing acquaintances.
Two of these are constantly accused of trying to undermine the show and making it all about themselves. I'll let you decide which one it isn't.

So we can repeatedly bring up the Flux and Timeless Child, but youre going to list all of the Doctor’s significant relationships and not mention the one from 3 episodes ago? Fuck that.
All it would have taken for me to be able accept this as a bittersweet but still beautifully continuation of thirteen’s journey would have been one mention of the most significant person in her life over the last century. Instead I feel like the RTD and Moffat stans got acknowledgement and closure and we got slapped across the face.

So RTD knew... which it would have been hard to miss but deliberately let rumors run wild about his 19-year-old female cast member because... "you can't answer rumors"... What the actual Fu@k? Are you telling me they never clarify rumors with correct information? Which rule states that? Just say "Millie is still an important member of our Doctor Who family. We look forward to you seeing her work as Ruby Sunday."
Then that would be the official line. So, at least you've done your part of setting the record straight. How spineless none of them said anything and let her go through that.
People will talk about how terrible they think Chibs is while defending this man. But, Chibs said in the Who Corner to Corner podcast that the tabloids sent them false accusations about Jodie and night shooting. He told his people to show them the proof that what their claim isn't true. So you can respond to rumors with the truth if you want to.
Do you think he would have let rumours like that run about Tennant?

Rose- Something a male presenting Timelord wouldn’t understand *smirks in Gen Alpha*
14- … For the last thousand or so years I constantly had to assert myself when people said the Doctor couldn’t be a woman, I had to kneel in front of a man in public and call him Master, I had my personal space violated WAY more than I ever had as a man, I was tied to a goddam post in a very sexual way to maximize my gendered humiliation, I got talked about how my form is ‘amusing’, I got hit on when I was trying to figure out ghosts, and oh yeah, little thing, hardly worth mentioning, but they TRIED ME AS A FUCKING WITCH AND TRIED TO MURDER ME JUST BC I WAS A WOMAN WHO WAS INTELLIGENT!!! But yeah no, I definitely don’t understand the pains of being a woman, you got me.

it’s so telling that i haven’t felt this angry since the 50th special lol. it’s wild to me that chibnall is the showrunner that gets accused of being self important the most when power of the doctor is the closest modern who has gotten to a good anniversary special. both moffat and rtd are clearly only interested in their own legacies and entwining them with the existing canon (like clara going into the doctor’s timestream) while the much hated timeless child was actually building on things that were in the second and seventh doctor’s eras. people described power of the doctor as “celebrating every era except chibnall’s own” like people wouldn’t have torn him to shreds for doing that, but i was so touched by the appearance of former companions and doctors even though i never personally watched them. the tales of the TARDIS was basically rehashing that exact idea too, though far less touchingly. the only reason i wish the power of the doctor had celebrated chibnall’s era more is that clearly no one else is going to.

it cracks me up how in The Post About No Women Writers in Doctor Who Between 2008-2015 people try to defend rtd and moffat and bash on chibnall by saying "at least rtd and moffat had queer writers, so there was diversity" and by "queer writers" they mean rtd himself (how generous of him to give himself the opportunity!) and mark gatiss (a.k.a. close collaborator of notoriously misogynistic moffat).
and then they completely leave out the fact that the first time there was a person of colour with a writing credit was in chibnall era (malorie blackman co-writing rosa) and that there indeed was a queer writer involved (ella road co-writing legend of the sea devils). and sure, they both collaborated on those with chibnall, but he still had a black woman involved to write about racism and a queer woman to write a sapphic relationship focused episode.
and chibnall managed to do much better in 31 episodes than either rtd or moffat did in 60 and 84 episodes respectively. was this perfect and no further work is required? sure not. but he at least tried instead of throwing a hissy fit over how "young writers are so angry and their scripts are sooo bad". he actually got them on board, collaborated with them, and gave them a platform. this is the way forward.

Russell just name-dropping thirty different characters/events from past episodes does not an anniversary special make

Be real. Most of the people acting like this was the bestest most greatest twist in Doctor Who history would have been up in arms if Chibnall pulled something like this with 13.

tired of rtd fans going “god forbid a character have a happy ending”. he did. when he was regenerating he had donna and mel beside him to see him off. he was content and he even said “it’s time.” and he was ready to go this time. that was a perfect and happy ending for him. and tbh the only thing i really expected from the giggle was the regen scene. i had no standards other than that.
the toymaker was brilliant and ncuti was brilliant. but thanks to rtds inability to get rid off DT, we got a colossal amount of fan service for a mediocre ending and having DT eclipse both Ncuti and Jodie because now the NMDs will say that 15 isn’t the real doctor. now i’m started to dislike david’s doctor because rtd is just beating this dead horse for 19 years.
11, 12, and 13 are now my favourite doctors. the incredible dw anniversaries were the Day of the Doctor for the 50th and the Power of the Doctor for the 60th.

Am I the only one who's feeling really... disillusioned with Doctor Who at the moment? It's been my favourite show since I was seven years old. Through the RTD1, Moffat and Chibnall eras, I never missed a trailer, a promo pic, a bit of news, anything. When a new trailer came out I'd drop everything to watch it, whether I was at school, at work, at the gym, with friends, whatever. I'd keep the TV on BBC1 just in case a small flash of Doctor Who was seen between shows.
Now, it took me a good week or so to get round to watching the new trailer, and I can't say I felt much from it. I haven't rewatched the Christmas Special since it aired and can barely remember the plot of it.
Ncuti and Millie are wonderful actors and people who need and deserve our support, but ever since RTD made the 60th a celebration of himself and Tennant, and vindicated the most toxic people in the fandom by refusing to have Tennant regenerate at all, it just feels like all my enthusiasm for the show has disappeared.
Even with a new Doctor with potential to be one of the greatest at the helm, it just feels like Doctor Who is being made for (and by) the people who spent the entirety of the past 12 years demanding Tennant back and shitting on everything that came after (especially Jodie Whittaker, but also Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Segun Akinola)
I still love the show, and Big Finish takes up a lot of my time, but I'm fairly sure this era isn't for me.
