I love Marrow's design 🤍🤍🤍 Does Marrow like cooking or have it not been introduced/figured out the concept yet? What does it and Link think of each other? 👀

marrow has only seen the concept of cooking put into practice by observing the yiga from faraway—and because of that, it probably thinks cooking is exclusively used for bananas (smth he doesn't have access to in the depths unless he steals from the yiga themselves). he's familiar with the concept of cooking meat, though he always chars it when he tries. he doesn't cook very often. i'd say the most creative thing he's ever "done" with "food" is him taking a bite out of the giant mushroom trees VGEYAIV

marrow sees link long before link sees marrow. marrow is very good at going about unannounced in the darkness, and link is a bit of a fumbling silly hylian in the same setting, so marrow actually follows link around quite a lot before he's ever even aware it's there. marrow thinks this new creature shaped like the yiga is very interesting. they bring in new light sources that marrow loves and soaks in gladly—this guy has WAY more brightbloom seeds than the yiga ever do, and he sprinkles them around like he's trying to grow a garden

marrow cannot help but feel there is something disturbingly familiar about the guy. he just never quite gets it, even when link finally does.

link actually reads about marrow before he sees it, too. in the book entries the yiga leave about in their camps, link occasionally sees mentions of "The Echo," described as a creature with the face of the very guy they have a mission to kill. mysterious, skittish, sometimes hostile, mostly curious. link thinks maybe it's some creature conjured up by ganon's gloom, despite some of the conspiracy theories written in the yiga entries

the first time link sees marrow is when marrow willingly comes out into the open. link sees a hylian body with animal-like hindlegs and a tail, concerningly visible bones, and a face that, while partially covered by thicker gibdo skin, is instantly recognizable as his own. he keeps it together outwardly. inwardly, he's freaking the fuck out

it's... kind of disturbing, looking at marrow. imagine seeing a clone of yourself, but like,, Really Fucked Up. think of the general vibes of the famous bonding scene between hiccup and toothless—link attempting to befriend this thing that's obviously not made of gloom but a living creature, and marrow having his general jumpy and untrusting nature constantly overshadowed by curiosity. when link moves too quickly at some point, marrow is scuttling into the shadows and not coming back out. link is left wondering

if this thing was just a creature with a random face that he didn't recognize, link wouldn't be nearly as bothered. he'd just think Wow That Was Crazy and go on with his day, since there's Other crazy shit in the depths to look at. but this thing had his face. that's . not something to ignore

link has no idea who to ask about this. he considers interrogating the yiga, but judging by their entries abt "the echo" they're just as clueless. he asks josha about it instead. josha bursts into ramblings about theories and starts flipping through books upon books of notes, asking questions link hadn't even considered and doesn't particularly want the answers to. josha suggests trying to find this creature again, to study him and learn. link shrugs; yeah aight

link catches onto the fact that marrow is attracted to light, so at some point he just tosses a bunch of brightbloom seeds on the ground and sits in the decaying moss, waiting. sure enough, marrow slinks out from the darkness and slowly but surely worms his way to link until they're a few feet apart, staring at each other

link asks marrow who they are, signing and speaking in case it doesn't understand one or the other. marrow tilts its head. okay. so it doesn't understand both

an obstacle to be sure, but it doesn't discourage him. he lets marrow lead the conversation instead—"conversation" being marrow poking at the lanterns of link's miner's set and watching them wobble and dangle around. link sees his clawed fingers in the light. he decides to be very careful about making any sudden movements

over time, their meetings became more casual, and more frequent. there are stretches of time where link doesn't enter the depths bc he's busy on the surface looking for zelda, but when he does come down, marrow is seemingly always nearby, despite the depths being just as big as hyrule itself

link asks marrow at some point if he knows of a zelda, or where she might be. marrow tilts his head again, crunching the glowing petals of a brightbloom seed between his fingers. ok.

later into link's journey, he starts to realize that he often finds marrow Somewhere near the secret spring of revival; if marrow isn't following along behind him after a while of him being down there, he always finds him at that spring instead. this must be his home, given the decorated lightroot nearby that link hasn't had the heart to activate

link looks at his map one day, and sees that the secret spring of revival is directly below the shrine of resurrection. he thinks about that for a long, long time.

A couple of things popped up for me (and my new-used computer quit suddenly so I have to wait to see if it can be repaired or if I should just buy a brand new one) so I’ve been trying to work around this. Back to mobile tumblr I go 😢 ! Anyway- I know all too well how lolita culture gets sexualized in people’s eyes so this is a completely nsfw-free request. I made this more relatable to those in sweet style lolita more than gothic lolita since you’d commented about them being opposites and personally, I think it would be super cute for him to be paired with someone with this style. Law isn’t the type to pay attention to what people wear as long as they are dressed in proper uniform when need be. Self expression is something personal, and he’s aware of different everyone’s style is

Though he finds it hard not to notice how you dress on your days off, whether it’s just around the sub or out on the town

It’s a lot of pastel, and a lot of fabric

You hadn’t thought of what Law or the others might’ve thought the first time you dressed up, so when you kept catching Law staring at you at various points of the day, you started to feel a little nervous

Later though, the two of you had crossed paths and he stopped you there to ask about your choice of clothing

While you explained how you enjoyed the colours and the overly girly feel of it all, he listened to every word, and even asked you some questions- like how everything fit together, and how you chose to match your accessories to your clothes

He was intrigued, and being a knowledgeable man, he wanted to learn about you and your clothing style

He’d even gone off to do his own research at the next island, and secretly commissioned a seamstress to make a little purse modeled after Bepo’s face for your outfits because god knows this guy can’t sew for shit

Law had been waiting for you outside of your door, his present to you held in his hand, in a sweet little bag. You weren’t expecting to see him, nor were you expecting any sort of gift- it was nowhere near your birthday- but here he was. He pushes himself off from leaning against the door when he sees you.

“Here. I’m not sure if it’s alright, but I thought you might be able to use this.”

He hands you the bag, and you thank him before going off about how he didn’t need to get you anything, and asking what the occasion is as you dig through the white, glittery tissue paper to open it.

“No occasion. I just thought you’d like it.” He tries to act nonchalant and calm, but he’s watching your face for any changes to see if you like it or not.

You pull out the bag and gasp- it was perfect. Fluffy and pristine white, perfect for an outfit you’d been trying to put together for a while now- and it looked like your dear crewmate. You pull it to your chest with a big smile, going on a bit of a ramble at how cute it is, and how you’re going to use it right away.

The entire time you’re squealing over your new gift he’s smiling to himself, even if he doesn’t realize it.

The next time you change into your style, you make sure to keep the mini Bepo bag at your side. It goes great with your outfit

Bepo freaks out a little at the likelihood of the purse and his own face, but you quickly calm him down and explain that it’s not the head of a polar bear that you’re carrying around

Law watches you fawn over the bag with him from a distance, smiling to himself

He joins you later to walk around town with you. He’s come to enjoy how your style stands out so well beside him against his usual darker clothes

Law will also help you get dressed if you let him, buckling your shoes for you so you don’t have to fight the layers of skirt to reach your feet, or helping you pin up your hair pieces

You’d asked him once if he’d like to try men’s lolita style and he was very quick to shut that down.

“It looks better on you than it will on me.”

He really just likes seeing you as the unique one

I’m going to be v honest here, i haven’t watched most of the nightmare times, much less the one(s?) with Pokey in it. The only one I have watched is Forever and Always (+ Hey, Melissa! if that counts). I know, I know. Shame me. They’re on my list to watch, but I’m very lazy so I’ve been putting them off, lol. I DO plan on watching (at the very least) Watcher World and Abstinence Camp soon, as I’ve gotta write Kai into those :P

What I’m trying to say is, my basis for pokey is really only what I saw in NPMD + headcannons/things I’ve heard from people + my own personal interpretation lol

oooooh you wanna talk about fallen angel ash and red soo badly /nf

omg so i got 2 asks about them, so i’m gonna split my ramble into 2 asks ^_^ starting off with red and ash respectively and how they’re paradise lost coded! (get ready for a longgg post under the cut)

ok so i’m gonna. tldr paradise lost for a second but basically paradise lost is about satan’s fall from grace (but this is. literally bible fanfic so basically it explores more themes than the actual bible does) but red is soooo adam coded and ash is (semi) lucifer coded to me .

starting off with adam: the reason he ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge is because he loved eve so much that, in that moment, he couldn’t even begin to imagine the tragedy that was about to happen because of that. even if he knew it was wrong. the only thing that mattered in that moment was himself and eve and he the fact he was willing to do anything for her. and that was the tragedy of the fruit being eaten. because right after he ate it, all of the love he had for eve seemed to disappear away and be replaced with hate and bitterness. (and the love wasnt enough)

so uh. tying this back into reddoons. his guy is willing to follow people to the ends of the earth, even to the point of self destruction. so just. the idea of red being a fallen angel who just wanted to do what was right. but what he thought was right wasn’t the “right” choice because he wasn’t following the orders of god. he just did hat he thought was right in the moment, but it wasn’t really right. and as a result he lost everything he ever knew and became the thing he swore never to be. also insert team chaos parallel here and i am SOOOO bonkers over this ver of fallen angel red u DONT UNDERSTAND!!!

now. on the other hand, ash being a fallen angel is because of an entirely different reason. in my brain

i mentioned he’s (semi) inspired by lucifer and. well tbh a lot of themes Do match up with a lot of ash’s mantras and i just find it sooooo fascinating. MOVING ON basically the reason why lucifer was created even though god knew he was going to rebel and being his beloved humans into sin was because lucifer represented free will and without free will there wouldn’t be love. so like. his creation was kinda a needed sacrifice as a result. anyways eventually when gods son/jesus was created (dont. question the timing btw god is above time so Ignore the time) lucifer was extremely jealous because although he was the most powerful angel, he wasn’t Exactly on gods level. (also bc of this he invents sin and later death but that’s irrelevant to the inspiration i get for ash)

but eventually lucifer caused a rebellion and upon god INVENTING PAIN TO DEFEAT HIM, satan decided to jump off of heaven instead of facing god himself. (also bc he represents free will he Chose to fall as well as rebel against god which is very. ashswagcore. to me)

but yeah i am just. bc of that the idea of ash being a fallen angel by choice and as a rebellion against god is just. very Him i think yk? the jealously. the willingness to do the impossible because of his ego. the way he’s very tied into themes of freedom and rebellion i think. (basically all of lucifer’s only positive traits because. mfer invents sin and death and caused humanity to fall. uh)

so ya! thats the ideas of both of them i have rn. i have a Ton of thoughts abt their relationships which i will elaborate in the next ask but. man they make me soooooo. i am ill in the head abt their themes and how paradise lost plays into it . man.

okay now I'm gonna actually answer- bUT INSERT THAT ONE ENTRAPTA MEME- THE "IVE WAITED Y E A R S FOR SOMEONE TO ASK ABOUT MY THEORIES" YEAH THATS ME RN- anon I am looking at you with my big ol autistic eyes that are sparkling with this 10 minute unstoppable rant that is about to occur (✧⁠ω⁠✧⁠)

SO ! ampen right ? my little guy ? my baby girl ? my beloved ? I'm gonna talk mostly abt their physical design than their other details bcs I have more notes abt their physical appearance than anything :]

I have no idea what they are, I kinda just started drawing her abhdjsjsj but I think the two most notable animals he could conceivably be are probably a fox and a dragon of some sort (original I know) however I do want to give an honorable mention to my first draft of them, bcs goddamn I changed a lot abt her bsjdhsjjs. at first he was just completely a dog but I decided to give them those 3 fingered claw/hoof things, here's the very sketchy guy herself who inspired Ampen:

yeah snndjsn basically the only thing that stayed the same was the vague color scheme and the "hooves" changed from the hands to the feet. a lot of ampens physical design was just cool things I saw in other fursuits that I thought would be cool, like I just loooove the hoof feet, they look v cool and I just like them a lot, so I included them ! (I didn't in my first real drawing of ampen but then I did on their character sheet) same with the tail, I'm p sure at the time of ampens actual creation I had recently seen a dragon fursuit with that kind of tail and was obsessed with it, I tried so many different tails for him and none of them were looking quite right until I tried their current tail, and I love it . the dragon bit also comes out in her muzzle, it's a bit more pointed and sharp than a canine muzzle would be, again mostly just bcs I think it looks neat :] and I knew I wanted my fursona to have big ol ears from the very beginning, I didn't put them on ampen-rough-draft bcs I didn't start with the intent for him to be my fursona sbjdjdjs but anyways- the fur pattern took me a while to come up with, I started with just vague splotches of color in random spots, messed around with specific colors, I don't think I decided on the pink stitch mark things until like- the very end dnjsjjd I have no idea where I came up with it , I was just trying random things and hoping they looked right lmao-

I gave them glasses bcs . I have glasses . and I think it's cute and there aren't enough furrys with glasses :3 then added the piercings bcs I think they look cool and that's really it bajshjejskwks

anyways , now for the couple things that aren't visible on a drawing, I imagine her being like 5'4 MAX , he's pretty short . mostly bcs I am v short and plan to actually make ampen, and that's a height I could realistically get to accounting for the ears hdjwjdjjejdke anyways, I don't really have many other little facts about them since they're basically just me personality-wise, so make of that what you will ! I will however GLADLY answer more specific questions if you (or anyone else 👀) have them bcs it will give me an excuse to come up with answers abhdjsjdjsjjd

starting this off by saying that i’m a v superstitious person so i have thought abt this a lot while writing it and hm.

i think barty giving evan the bracelet was kinda? delaying the inevitable? (evan dying. he was always meant to die first) so if barty hadn’t given him the bracelet, nothing bad would’ve even happened to him. he wouldn’t have died. (the he in question is barty. he doomed himself by giving evan the bracelet.)

i like to believe that if he hadn’t given evan the bracelet, he would’ve died when he got shot. that’s actually kinda the symbolism of the bracelet breaking. yknow with jade bracelets how they break when they ‘serve their purpose’ aka just ward off enough negative energy? it’s the same with evan’s bracelet, it protected him when he got shot! that’s why he didn’t die! and that’s why it broke! because (🥁🥁🥁) it served its purpose!

sooo the ending would’ve probably looked like barty killing himself to be with evan. or maybe he didn’t. i honestly don’t know this guy’s brain is so difficult sometimes. but i dont think he would’ve been able to live without evan sooo…do with that what you will!

your response abt maggie got me thinking. i wonder what paul and linda’s marriage would’ve looked like if it haven’t coincided with the break-up. i mean, i think the two events are kinda of inseparable in terms of who knows if he would’ve felt the same drive to get married if the band was doing better, but i think a lot of what ended up defining paul and linda’s relationship was that period during and after the break-up where paul’s ‘womanizing’ for lack of a better term calmed down bc he realized he needed some sort of stability. like i just wonder what would’ve happened if the band had stayed stable. would he have been as committed to linda?

short answer: i think he would have been just as committed

unnecessarily long ramble: you're listing a lot of things in your question and i think they are all interesting points, but i think it's worth separating some of them. e.g. paul being driven to get married/paul being committed once he was married, these occured in different time periods and in different environments, and i think they were motivated by different things.

i think to understand paul's motives when it comes to him proposing marriage to linda in late 1968, you have to go back to december 1967, when he proposed to jane. apart from brian's death, the band was still doing alright then and i think we can safely say that jane was not that keen on tying the knot. so without getting into the things that made that relationship and idea of marriage in it complicated (jane refusing to give up her career and paul interpreting this as jane not being truly committed to him and their relationship etc) let's just say that by the end of 67 in a way paul already had his eyes on a much more stable (love?) life, that provided him more security and calmness. these are things that i think, probably on a subconscious level, but he already craved and needed, and he was trying to bring them to reality. whether he realized that this meant that he himself had to seriously change as well and it wasn’t just about jane making sacrifices is another question tho lmao. so he still enjoyed the one-night stands, the clubbing, turning his house into a party spot whatever, because a) he could, with jane not being there with him all the time he was alone a lot in that crazy london scene, and how else would he have occupied himself right, and b) because he probably did find it hard to let go of those things, as this was what he'd been doing since the early 60s and it's not hard to imagine that it must have been... a lot of fun. but i also think he was starting reach a point in his life when he wanted to have a family, he wanted to be a father, all that sort of stuff. which, once he got together with linda seriously became his no 1 priority, and it remains to be that to this day. so i don't think the "who knows if he would've felt the same drive to get married if the band was doing better" stuff is the best way to approach this, because you see the signs of him wanting to settle down before the serious problems appear, and once things start to get worse, somewhere around the summer of 68 (or even late spring), when the studio sessions begin to be very tense, yoko appears, his relationship with john is getting more complicated, apple is taking up a lot of his time etc, jane also happens to break up with him... which?? was a serious blow. whether he genuinely foresaw it coming or not, whether he was still hoping it would work out or not. and this was what prompted his womanizing to reach another level.

also i don't think this womanizing calmed down because he realized he needed stability, i think it calmed down, or disappeared because he felt he got stability and felt safe. and when he got this that’s when i think he would have realized that if he doesn’t want to fuck things up, he can’t continue that lifestyle, and also, i think once he got a glimpse into this new life with linda, he didn’t want to go back to the hectic insane ways he’d been living before. like, you don't see him stopping until things start to get serious with linda and he starts to feel safe with her, but once it happens it seems like he never looked back. and i think it's worth mentioning that with the constant womanizing, the one-night stands, the multiple girlfriends, groupies, besides obviously enjoying the benefits of the powerful life of a rockstar, in one way i would think he was also chasing momentary security, intimacy, safety with a lot of these women, and he was trying to search for a more serious relationship after jane had broken up with him. think about how he subtly floated the idea of marriage to maggie too.. and in the meantime he was also a fucking mess lmao. 

i do think that the breakup of the band, and what this prompted paul and linda to do (escaping to their farm, spending even more time together, linda becoming paul’s partner in music as well (which we know wasn’t always idyllic, so it didn’t necessarily help their marriage..)) were things that had a significant effect on how their relationship had developed. obviously, there is no way for us to know what their relationship would have looked like, had the breakup not happened/had it happened differently. but... i just don't think that what was going on with the band would have characterized their marriage in an extreme way (see j&y's relationship for that, i guess). like, obviously it made a difference, how wouldn't such a thing have an effect (positive or negative) on your marriage, but i don't think this would have influenced how committed paul was to linda for instance, or how dedicated he was to their marriage. 

i understand what you’re saying, but i think paul’s need for security and stability wasn’t created by the band’s situation. it was there before, but in this time period it starts to get hard to separate things, because the band’s troubles were happening in tandem with the drastic changes in his private life. jane broke up with him, then his hectic summer came, he was getting older and i believe he was ready for this new chapter of his life which meant getting married + becoming a parent, he started to have enough of the life he’d been living as beatle paul and so on. so it’s easy to say that it all was prompted by the shit the band was going through, but ??? people never look at it from the other way, which is that the shit that he was going through in his personal life was having a massive effect on the band as well. like, his behaviour in the studio for instance, probably hasn’t changed suddenly for no particular reason during the white album sessions. he got dumped by jane, his life outside the band was a mess, and this must have caused him to be a) even more workaholic, b) more controlling and manic, c) more insensitive, which just spiraled into more issues. what i’m trying to say with this i guess is that the relationship between the band’s situation and his private life wasn’t unidirectional in terms of influence. 

anyway this answer is getting way too long, and i don’t even know what i’m trying to say anymore, so i’ll just say that had the band stayed stable, i think he would have still navigated to where he’d ended up eventually, meaning he still would have been a committed husband/dad. a functional band wouldn't have resulted in him not getting married/not being dedicated to his marriage.

hi hi!!! I have some questions that I think abt a lot and I’m so sorry if this is a lot but. w despair being in will’s body, how do you think a relationship would work out w him(despair)? what kinda person would he fall in love with, anyways? and how might someone go about/do you think there’s anyone out there who could, as he puts it, “save him from himself”?

So, it’s been made fairly clear that he thinks humans are fascinating in general (even if he believes them to be pretty silly), so really anyone that captures his interest is someone he may grow to like. As in, like like. Probably someone that’s maybe impulsive and they’re determined to talk with him. He likes getting their point of view in certain things because it’s so wildly different from his POV and it’s.. interesting

As for how the relationship works, Despair probably tries to be very careful because he probably doesn’t want Will to figure out about the person he likes because… well, multiple reasons. He doesn’t want to share his s/o with Will or maybe he doesn’t want Will to think of telling others about Despair’s s/o – tying back to a sort of protectiveness that Despair has for his s/o.

He also doesn’t want his s/o to find out about him possessing someone?? He likes seeing someone see him as a person of his own as well and having his s/o find out that he’s possessing someone would be.. Rough.

But, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – a relationship would start out very, very slow. Despair needs to warm up to people - plus he may even be a little bit scared of his feelings for his s/o because his plan is to literally.. destroy HL.. and that includes his s/o…. He’d have to be very careful during the Second Great Collapse to protect them.

However!! That does NOT mean that his s/o won’t be able to save him from himself - in fact, I believe the fact that his s/o being able to initiate an emotional response in any way from Despair is already saving him from himself (in a sense).

His s/o would have to give him a lot of necessary affection as well as maybe changing his POV a tiny bit -- which they do successfully in the way of giving him a little bit of hope for their relationship lmao

Sorry, I rambled on for a long time and I’m not quite sure what I said, but yup. Yeah, I love Despair a lot..
