“Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet confinement of your aloneness to learn anything or anyone that does not bring you alive is too small for you.” - David Whyte By now you probably are involved in a manifestation challenge or have your resolutions written somewhere handy as a reminder of who you are becoming. But it’s important to also look and have immense gratitude for where you are in this present moment. And, also take a inventory or what (or who) no longer serves this new 5.0 version of yourself. There is freedom is the sweet release. Simple but not easy to surrender into the unknown. But, the liberation one feels when owning the fact we have free agency over our life and how we experience it is where the rubber meets the road, the hands come off the steering wheel, and a big “Woohoo!” escapes the lips. So when you look at who you are becoming don’t forget to thank the woman that you were. She played a vital role in this play called, “My Life: Starring Me, Myself, and I-AND God.” It’s your soul’s calling, my love. Introducing...Aspen Whyte!
Brave | Loner | Loves the Outdoors | Mooch | Natural Cook | Witch
Aspen is for @toxoplasmajuice‘s Atkins MMBC!
Aspen is a trans guy (he/him) who, despite his appearance, is not a berry Sim. He used to be a ginger, but he was never quite this pale before--but all of that changed when his entire town suffered radiation poisoning when a nuclear reactor miles away exploded. Though most of the others had “normal” (but horrific) reactions to the exposure, like skin damage, tooth decay, and damage to their eyesight, Aspen’s health is essentially normal--he just, you know, gradually developed bleach-white skin and hair. The orange that’s left in is hair is the last that’s left to him of his old life. Aspen never had any siblings and only ever had contact with one of his moms, and she insisted on staying behind in their town to help some of the sicker and more elderly neighbors with their radiation-induced suffering. Aspen considered himself lucky that his health wasn’t majorly impacted and decided he didn’t want to risk that luck by continuing his exposure, so he’s been hitchhiking west for almost a year now. It’s hard to get people to be willing to pick you up when you’re white as a ghost (and when the really suspicious people start spreading rumors that there’s a rake [warning: rakes are creepy af] stalking the highway), but he’s managed to get this far. He doesn’t have a particular goal or end destination in mind--or else, he didn’t, until he found out about this BC. Why not?
CC: Hair, Top Surgery Scars
You can change his clothes if you want to if it makes sense in the story--like idk somebody finding something for him, but otherwise please keep them ripped. Also, if you’d like, you can at some point change his hair to all white (e.g. if it grows out longer and he gets a haircut that removes the remaining orange. He’s ready to embrace having totally white hair lol).
Download is private, I think?
Interview Questions under the cut!
In-Character
My name is Aspen Whyte. I’m 24 and trans, use he/him pronouns. Yes, my last name was Whyte before the explosion. I’m from Foundryville, PA, which I don’t expect anybody to know about. Yes, I am a long way from home, and yes it has taken me a looong time to get here. I’m an Aries, if that means anything to you.
I had half a mind to become a chef, before all of this. I know I’m 24 and should probably have figured some of that out already, but I dropped out of high school when I was 17 and didn’t get my GRE until I was 22. Community college doing nothing for a year, and then...well, boom. Hard to focus on your career when everyone around you is succumbing to radiation poisoning. Umm, but yeah, being a chef would be cool.
I’m a really good cook. I also have really great endurance--like, when I walk and run. I can go a long time without much pausing. And I’m pretty good at first aid, I can even give stitches. I haven’t had much time for hobbies since I’ve been on the road, but in all that time between dropping out and getting my GRE I actually became really good at embroidery and had a pretty successful Etsy shop. I shut it down after a few years because I got sick and tired of doing nothing but keeping up with orders, but I still like embroidery. It took me a long time to get good at it, so I hope I haven’t lost my touch.
I didn’t really date before my medical transition because I wasn’t really comfortable with myself. Not to say people didn’t want to date me, but I just wasn’t interested. So I really didn’t start dating until I was like, 19 I guess, and I haven’t had anything super long-term. One person actually was just using me to get free custom embroidery for him and his friends, can you believe that? Anyway, I’ve dated mostly guys, and probably wouldn’t date a woman, but who knows, you know?
I have been aimlessly wandering this country for like, a year. And yes, it is lonely and kind of boring. Like, I love my solitude, but damn, I also really miss people. So I like the idea of finding a partner, but I also really like the idea of being in a house with other people. I know I’m going to eat those words within like, a day, but I think my sanity needs me to be stuck with a consistent group for a while.
I’ve been picked up a few times for minor offenses. Vandalism, stealing stuff like basic food staples, disorderly conduct, public urination...it happens, when you don’t have a house or a car or an income or really anything consistent or reliable in your life. I’ve never hurt anybody.
My favorite book growing up was The Road. Ironic, right?
Ummm, I take vitamin D-supplements and require a lot of sunscreen. It’s not exactly a curse but it has literally always rained on my birthday (April 17) every year I’ve been alive, so that’s got to mean something, right?
Like I said, I left my mom, but I’ve always called her whenever I could manage to charge my phone. I don’t feel like I’m leaving much else behind--my town never really felt that important to me. Don’t tell my mom I said that, though. Her family has been there for years and she’s weirdly attached to it.
Buy some new goddamn clothes. I’ve kept most of my stuff pretty nice because, I don’t know, my clothes are an important part of my identity, but clearly I had to let some of them go to shit on the way here. So shopping for some nice new, not-falling-apart casual wear would be great. Oh, also, I’d really like to go on a sailboat. I never got to do that before all of this.
OOC Questions
Feel free to draw him :)
Hmm, he’s sarcastic and can get a little snippy. He uses a lot of rhetorical questions and emphasizes his words potentially too often. That was probably easy to see though lol
Aspen has been living that minimalist lifestyle for a while considering he did not have anywhere he actually lived, so he won’t have brought much with him--you could throw a backpack in the corner or something? However, I think he would quickly get sick of having bare, sterile-looking walls, so any of the outdoorsy paintings EA has would be a good fit for him. I couldn’t find any embroidery hoop CC that’s for Sims 3 :(
I will absolutely be around! You have me on like four social medias so you’re bound to get ahold of me somewhere lol

can i get some more spoilers for asp season 5? ;)
Ooooh ofc! So I’ll start with just a little background, so you can understand how she got to be where she is in S5 after the time jump... it’s all under the cut!
Tumblr media
After graduation, Aspen goes to Yale where she studies law. Her parents are both so proud of her, because not only is she the first in the family to attend college...she’s going to an ivy league! amazing! Unfortunately for Aspen, Betty Cooper also attends Yale so try as she might, Asp isn’t able to escape her blonde nemesis. They have a few classes together where they end up reluctantly pairing up for projects, as much as they both despise each other they know and appreciate that the other is good at what she does - so whenever they do team up they actually get amazing grades. They don’t have any interaction socially though, they pretend they don’t know each other outside of the classroom and both have their own social circles. Aspen and Sweetpea stay together for a good few years after high school, he visits her at Yale whenever he can (there is some drama where the other students at Yale see this tatooed trucker turn up in his plaid shirt and think he’s no good for Asp but she stands up for him). Eventually they break up and it is sad and they both still love each other but their social schedules, school, work, distance just takes too much of a toll on the relationship and they decide it’s better for them to call it quits. They both always have the idea that when the time is right, they’ll find their way back to one another - so watch this space.
After college, Aspen moves to New York where she interns for a few years at the District Attorney’s office before passing the bar and becoming a defense lawyer in her own right. She leave’s the DA’s office and starts working for a pretty high profile law firm where she is moved up the ranks quite quickly. As she’s living in New York, Aspen rekindles a friendship with Veronica Lodge who is missing Riverdale and her old life. The girls actually become quite close and see each other regularly, going for drinks, shopping, just generally hanging out you know. It’s Ronnie who finally persuades Asp to come back to Riverdale.
So back in Riverdale, Aspen has admittedly not been in touch as often as she would have liked, or as much as she should have been so she’s not that up to date on the comings and goings of the town. She doesn’t know about Hiram’s agenda or what he’s doing, and it’s only when she gets a tearful call from her mother to tell her that her dad has been arrested for something that Lettie is adamant he didn’t do that Aspen starts to realise something isn’t right. It’s at this point that Veronica turns up at Aspen’s office and tells her she thinks her father might be behind John Mills’ arrest and that Aspen needs to get back to their home town to defend her father in court because she’s the only lawyer that knows enough about Hiram’s tricks to be able to convince a jury to declare her father innocent.
When she gets back to Riverdale the first thing Asp does is go to see her father in jail and get as much information as she possibly can to help defend him. The second thing she does is visit Sweetpea, they have an...emotional reunion. Asp doesn’t quite know how she feels about Toni as Serpent Queen, and she’s not particularly pleased that she’s renamed Le Bonne Nuit the Whyte Wyrm because that was Aspen’s home, it was her plan all along to return the Whyte Wyrm to the Mills family...so that’s a bit of a kick in the teeth and Asponi definitely have some conflict.
.... wow that was a lot, but if anyone is still here or interested I’m happy to answer any more Qs about S5 Asp!!

OPHIDIAN by @chlobenet
Aspen Mills was a Southside Serpent through and through, her parents even went as far as to honour the notorious gang when naming their only child. Her father is the licensee and owner of the Whyte Wyrm and as a young girl, Aspen spent nearly all of her time there, learning to shoot pool, throw darts and pick drunken men up off their asses.
As a Mills, Aspen has a legacy to protect and as a serpent, she has a certain set of morals. When Jughead starts at Southside High, Aspen and her close knit group of friends are quick to take him under their wing, but Jughead should have tread with caution because the snake always bites back.

“killed him? wait, what, literally?” - tilda and aspen omg
Aspen Mills had been helping out in the Whyte Wyrm long enough to recognise trouble when it walked in through the door, and today trouble happened to take the form of a certain Tilda Benson. The front of her white t-shirt was spattered with something crimson, something that looked suspiciously like blood. Not entirely new within the Whyte Wyrm, but definitely new on Tilda.
The dark-haired girl approached the bar and leaned over it, resting her elbows on the wooden surface. Aspen didn’t even have to guess what Tilda wanted to drink - she’d basically memorised her friend’s favourite beverage, and started making it as she observed Tilda with growing concern.
“What happened?” Aspen asked, sliding the cocktail across the bar. Tilda raised the glass to her lips and knocked it back. Although usually pale, the girl was white as a ghost, blue eyes wide and terrified. Whatever she had seen, it had shaken her.
Across the bar, FP and Miriam were involved in what appeared to be a quiet but heated argument. Not a real surprise - they had been bickering constantly since FP had come out of jail. Most of the time they kept it down, but every now and then John had politely but firmly reminded the leader of the Southside Serpents that he could still throw him out if he didn’t stop shouting.
“You probably heard about Rocky.” Tilda took a deep breath, staring down at the stain on her shirt.
Aspen nodded slowly, her features morphing into a frown. Rocky was one of the Ghoulies, who was basically in charge now that Malachai was in prison. After Penny was kicked out, Rocky had begun to more vocally oppose the Southside Serpents. Sweet Pea and Fangs told them that he was planting drugs around the place, attempting to frame them and get the Serpents locked up.
“I know he’s been causing a lot of trouble.”
“Not anymore.” Tilda shook her head vigorously, glancing across the bar at her mum and uncle. Miriam met her daughter’s gaze and raised an eyebrow. Tilda gave a slight nod, and the older woman smiled. Aspen didn’t like it when Miriam smiled. It meant danger.
“Tilda, what happened?” Aspen persisted. She wasn’t giving up until she had answers, especially as Tilda seemed really shaken up by whatever had happened.
“Judge.” Tilda pointed to FP, and then her finger drifted across to Miriam. “Jury.”
“Executioner?” Aspen whispered, gesturing to Tilda’s bloodstained shirt. When the dark-haired girl remained silent and took another swig from her cocktail, Aspen’s eyes widened. “Killed him? Wait, what, literally?”
“I didn’t mean to,” Tilda protested, reaching up to wipe at her eyes. Aspen reached across and placed a comforting hand over her friend’s. “I was retrieving the drugs from where he’d planted them, but he was still there and he had a gun and…and I just…”
Aspen’s gaze drifted across the bar to Miriam, who looked remarkably more pleased as she talked in low murmurs with her brother. Tilda might be traumatised by what had happened, but something told Aspen things had gone exactly the way Miriam wanted them to. Even if it meant getting a sixteen-year-old girl to commit murder.

“if they so much as look at you wrong, i’ll knock their lights out” - aspy and stella???
Aspen joined Stella at the table she was occupying, sliding onto the stool beside her with a huff. It felt good to be off her feet. The Whyte Wyrm was particularly busy which kept the establishment’s favorite bartender running about in a seemingly endless cycle. She’d finally tagged in Suren so she could have a brief respite.
“Am I missing anything?” Aspen asked as she stole Stella’s glass of water for a sip.
“Just one of the boys actually having a chance at winning the pool tournament tonight since you’re not playing,” Stella said, only half joking. Not even half, actually. The Mills girl was well versed in the art of hustling.
Chuckling, Aspen bumped her shoulder against her friends and turned her attention to the billiards tables. There were a couple of games going, but she focused on the one her peers were having. The younger Serpents were gathered around a table with Sweet Pea and Fangs facing off against Toni and Joaquin. Aspen wondered why Stella wasn’t Toni’s partner as she usually was. She was about to question Stella about it when something else caught her eye.
Entering the bar was a trio of Ghoulies that Aspen recognized from Southside High. She gave Stella a glance traced with confusion and concern. The atmosphere in the bar immediately shifted at the arrival of members of their rival gang. The raucous chatter dimmed, the patrons quit throwing darts and shooting pool. The rock music blaring over the speakers remained just as loud, though.
Stella gritted her teeth and clenched her jaw as she twisted at the rings on her fingers, imagining the satisfying crunch they would make on a Ghoulies face. “What the hell are they doing here?” She seethed.
“I don’t know,” Aspen murmured with her hazel eyes narrowed into slants. She watched as boys strolled through the bar with smug expressions. “There’s no neon sign outside that says ‘Serpents Only’, so I guess they’re technically allowed to be here-”
“But The Wyrm is ours, everyone knows that. They aren’t welcome here,” Stella said, her calculating gaze tracking their every move. She wasn’t wrong.
Clearing her throat, Aspen tried to remain composed. She told herself she had no reason to worry. The Serpents were on their turf and the Ghoulies were outnumbered ten to one. However, there was still a nagging apprehension at the back of her mind. She’d be damned if she let it show, though.
“Relax, Stel. They’re just here to get a rise out of us. Don’t give those creeps the satisfaction.”
Stella furrowed her brows and peered over at her friend. She noticed the slightest hint of unease shining in Aspen’s eyes and she knew why it was there. She would be lying if she said she didn’t feel it too, but it must have been worse for Aspen since this was her home.
Both of the young Serpents were targets because of their family ties. Stella’s older sister was dating the gang’s leader and Aspen’s parents owned their base of operations. It put them in a vulnerable position to anyone looking to settle a score, but they knew how to defend themselves and they would always look out for each other.
Stella leaned closer to give Aspen some reassurance. “If they so much as look at you wrong, I’ll knock their lights out.”
“I think I can handle that myself,” she returned with a proud smile.
“You can,” Stella said, shrugging. “I’m going to do it for you anyways.”
Aspen sighed and saw John, her father, leaving his place from behind the bar. He was heading towards the Ghoulies who had stopped by the pool table their classmates were playing at. As the owner, he had every right to kick them out.
“It looks like daddy is about to take care of it for both of us,” Aspen said as she peered to Stella.
“Or Fangs and Sweet Pea are going to pick a fight,” she retorted with a smirk.
As if on cue, Aspen heard the telltale noises of a brawl beginning. She whipped her head around to see Sweet Pea pinning a Ghoulie to the billiards table, mercilessly beating him. His friends went to help him, but the other young Serpents swarmed them. John was somewhere in the middle of it trying to pry them all apart, calling to FP and Tall Boy for help. Aspen heard glasses shattering and something crack which she hoped was a nose and not a pool stick.
Aspen came to a stand. “Oh, hell. You assholes know I have to help clean this shit up, right!?” She yelled in hopes she could be heard over all the shouting.
“Well, I hate that they beat me to the punch, but this should be entertaining.”

What Travel Can Learn From the Fashion Industry — New Luxury
A pedestrian looks at the window display at a Gucci store in central Milan, Italy. Luxury travel can still learn a lot from luxury fashion. Stefan Wermuth / Bloomberg
Skift Take: There are so many parallels between the luxury fashion and travel industries. Consolidation in both is bringing challenges as well as opportunities.
— Patrick Whyte
The Skift New Luxury newsletter is our weekly newsletter focused on the business of selling luxury travel, the people and companies creating and selling experiences, emerging trends, and the changing consumer habits around the sector.
We’ll keep in mind the needs of the specialist travel agents who sell these products as well as the sophisticated consumers who shop for them.
Luxury travel, like fashion, has faced plenty of challenges in adapting to the online environment. This is especially true when it comes to distribution. Where traditional travel agents had to deal with Expedia and Priceline, luxury good retailers are battling the giant that is Amazon.
In fashion, brands used to be able to communicate their values through the shopping experience, but for so many people (we’re looking at you here, millennials) this just isn’t the way they do things anymore.
Consolidation, arguably, makes this task even harder. Having multiple brands in your portfolio lets you take advantage of economies of scale but it can make it harder to differentiate — a problem shared by the Marriott-Starwood merger and French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH.
The challenges faced by both sectors are only going to grow. Are we going to see more mega-mergers or does it make sense for luxury brands to go it alone?

Part II
Upon watching Suzanne Simard’s TED Talk, How Trees Talk to Each Other, and Munir Virani’s TED Talk, Why I Love Vultures, I was reminded of how little we know about the world around us and humanity’s near inability to acknowledge that we are shamelessly harming our planet and ecosystems, believing that the world is ours to be exploited. I also was reminded of the fact that we spend so much time and energy trying to figure out what’s “out there” when we don’t even understand what’s in our own backyards. I was amazed to learn that some tree species are capable of communicating with one another through means of sharing information, nutrients, distress signals, and so much more. Although I was previously aware that trees are capable of sharing root systems, developing into one large individual, I was not aware that even different species of tree can connect root systems and work as a team to keep each other healthy and strong. For example, quaking aspen have a highly developed lateral root system that produce root suckers, aiding in clonal reproduction according to the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service article on the species. Thus, when these clonal offshoots come out of the ground, they look as though they are a separate individual from the surrounding trees when in fact, that tree could be a part of a network of trees that is sharing nutrients and information across an expansive root system. The communication system is so effective that when more light becomes available from other trees dying or even when another aspen dies, chemical signals are sent to the lateral roots that will in turn stimulate new growth. It is through this mechanism that aspens have become a very successful species and is able to outlive many trees by hundreds of years.
Tumblr media
Another thing that I thought about during Simard’s talk was how people often forget that humans are not the only social creatures. Social media has become a huge part of today’s society and worldwide communication is an integral part of the advancement of humanity. I was amazed to learn that living creatures that don't even have a nervous system are able to communicate with their neighbors and share relatively complicated information that will aid other trees in survival. The order of nature is truly an amazing thing, it can be relentless and unforgiving to those who try and inhabit it, while at the same time providing life and sustenance to those same individuals. In a forest the trees work together for the survival of community and ecosystem as a whole in the same way that people work together to keep each other safe able to live in comfort. The interdependency that occurs between species is clear.
These videos reminded me that the inner workings of nature of nature is so complex that at times it can be hard to understand why a particular thing is happening to an ecosystem or to a species. Humans create wilderness preserves and promote the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions while at the same time overexploiting valuable and scarce resources, expanding our urban development and driving native species away. In some cases, as Virani pointed out in his TED Talk, some measures that people are taking to protect their livestock from disease and predators is not only getting rid of predators, but it is also inadvertently killing other key members of the food chain. Nature functions in a way similar to a well oiled machine, with each component doing its own task working together for the same purpose. If there is a cog in the machine or if one component is removed the machine ceases to function. The health of the ecosystem is lost.
I believe that the most important aspect of nature we need to protect is our ecosystems. Our ecosystems are what house and support native wildlife. Maintaining ecosystems means maintaining healthy wildlife populations and keeping human impacts down. If the plants and wildlife are healthy, the whole ecosystem is working as a well-oiled machine and functioning at full capacity, supporting and satiating every species survival needs. We must recognize that we are taking more than we need and wasting the resources that we do use. I actively work to protect my ecosystems by picking up trash along paths in grassy or wooded areas and refraining from throwing trash on the ground while also encouraging my friends to do so. While I was visiting Banff National Park with my dad this fall, I developed a habit of picking up the litter that people had left behind on the trails. It made me really sad to see that despite all of the trash bins and promotion of throwing out trash (to protect the native wildlife), no one seemed to care that they were throwing out non-biodegradeable plastics in this pristine landscape. While we were walking along my dad became mildly annoyed that I would stop every few meters to pick up trash and put it in my small trash bag I carried with me, but he knew that he wouldn't be able to change my mind about picking up the trash -- I was doing the right thing. As we walked along, I explained to people who asked me why I was picking up trash that I don't like it when other people leave their mess in my house, so I won't leave a mess in their house. In addition to picking up trash in wild spaces, I can also work to protect ecosystems by going to places like Fort Whyte and ask the people who work there about problems that nature reserves are experiencing, what is being done to fix those problems, and how I can help to make a difference. In Charles Darwin’s, The Descent of Man, Darwin asserts that, “[i]gnorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.” From reading this quote, I know the best way to keep myself aware of the predicament that our environment is to keep myself properly informed and educated. If humans can make a unified effort to understand the problems were are facing in our natural world, we can improve our current situation by applying the latest technological advancements to our failing ecosystems.

Game On home in Aspen by Rowland + Broughton takes cues from historic neighbours
A lot in Aspen was divided in half to make way for this white, slender home by US studio Rowland + Broughton, which is meant to bring "a sense of clarity and elegance to a traditionally ornate Victorian form".
Called Game On, the dwelling is located in the Colorado mountain town's historic West End neighbourhood. The project resulted from the splitting of a large property that contains a multi-storey home built in the 1890s.
"The historic home was picked up and placed on a new foundation, creating a vacant lot for Game On," said Rowland + Broughton, which has offices in Aspen and Denver.
The new dwelling "needed to stand on its own" while also being contextually appropriate, especially considering that the project required approval from the city's Historic Preservation Commission.
In response, the studio conceived a home with white, fibre-cement siding, a traditional front porch and a gabled roof – all meant to serve as an ode to the city's architectural heritage.
"Inspired by the residential vernacular of Aspen's historic West End neighbourhood, this home brings a sense of clarity and elegance to a traditionally ornate Victorian form," the team said.
Rectangular in plan, the residence contains a main dwelling and a detached garage, which are separated by a small yard with a bocce ball court. In the front, a pathway crosses over a small stream and leads to the home's main entrance.
Encompassing 4,291 square feet (399 square metres), the residence was designed to feel private and intimate, while also having the ability to accommodate a large number of guests.
"The home is modern and efficient with no unused space," the team said.
In the main dwelling, the ground floor contains an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, where a retractable glass wall provides a seamless connection to a covered terrace.
The upper level contains a guest bedroom and a master suite with a terrace.
An open room and storage area were placed in the basement. A second basement located in the garage structure encompasses a great room and a bathroom.
Throughout the interior, the architects employed a restrained palette of colours and materials, and sought to "create an indoor environmental quality free of harmful chemicals".
Finishes include concrete, wood and eco-friendly paint.
Floors and walls are sheathed in light-coloured oak, which helps the space feel bright and airy. Rooms are fitted with built-in furniture and contemporary decor.
The exterior landscaping features drought-tolerant plants, which help reduce water usage. Other sustainable elements include lighting, plumbing fixtures and mechanical systems that are highly efficient, along with solar panels that are mounted to the garage roof.
The bocce ball court is also a sustainable feature, as it helps control stormwater. "The court was designed to accept all the surface run-off as a permanent stormwater control," the firm said.
The project earned LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.
Other projects by Rowland + Broughton include a rectilinear home nestled into a mountainous site in rural Colorado.

Can you go into more details about the conflict between Aspen and Toni?
Okay so I think the aponi conflict has lowkey been brewing under the surface for many many years. Aspen was always the ‘princess’ of the southside and we all know how badly toni wanted to be in charge of the serpents (but even though aspen didn’t really care to take over, a lot of the serpents, certainly the younger ones, looked to her for guidance etc) and she was continually turned down for the role in favour of either jughead or aspen. When asp goes away for college, she doesn’t come back to riverdale for a really long time besides for the occasional family visit, her affiliation with the serpents is still there but she certainly isn’t as involved as she used to be. She’s working in a high profile law firm where she is regularly defending criminal cases, she can’t be seen to be involved in any sort of ‘gangs’ because it would bring up corruption and bribery lawsuits that she doesn’t need to be fighting off. So in the time that aspen is gone, toni really steps up to the plate and she does earn her serpent leadership badge in her own right, aspen never disputes that. What aspen isn’t happy with is the renaming of La Bonne Nuit as the Whyte Wyrm, because if you’ve been following asp’s story from the beginning you’ll know that her parents owned the original whyte wyrm and that is where she grew up. When Hiram took the original wyrm bar from her family she was homeless, it was always her intention to get it back for her parents, and to return their family home and their family business to it’s previous glory. But toni doesn’t think about aspen’s family connections, or the sentimental value all she is thinking about it bringing back the power of the southside serpents... so it’s a bit of a kick in the teeth for aspen really, that someone who is supposedly her best friend didn’t even stop to consider her feelings, or think to tell aspen about her plans so they could discuss beforehand. When aspen does finally come back toni is lowkey scared that the serpents will go back to their old ways of looking to aspen for leadership, that fear manifests itself a sort of stand offish attitude towards aspen, she is snarky and snaps under the belt comments at her friend because she is marking her territory - it’s quite sad really when you think about it but I like to think the girls can move past it fairly quickly!

Aspea in number 23!
aspea forever !!!
Tumblr media
The Southside was in chaos, Serpents were being turfed out of their homes, their hangouts and hideaways by Northsiders fueled by hatred and a vendetta against the scourge on their pristine town. Aspen and the rest of the Serpents who had previously sought solace at the Whyte Wyrm had moved under cover of darkness, making their way through the familiar streets in the dead of night so as not to be caught by anyone who could be considered a foe.
When she’d woken the following morning, she’d found herself wrapped tightly in the arms of Sweetpea on the floor of Archie Andrews living room, covered loosely by a thin blanket. Around her other serpents slept, and at the far side of the room, Fred, FP and Aspen’s father John stood close to one another, deep in conversation.
Sweetpea stirred after a moment, sleepily pulling her closer to him and nuzzling his face into the crook of her neck. She remained quiet, not wanting to wake him if he was not ready to open his eyes - all of them had had such little sleep in recent days that she didn’t doubt that he was totally exhausted, she knew she certainly was. Despite her efforts, Sweetpea’s eyes fluttered open and he smiled lazily at her, an action she reciprocated almost immediately.
Noticing that his daughter and her best friend had finally woken, John Mills beckoned them over, inviting them to join him, Fred and FP in whatever conversation they were having.
Aspen scrambled to her feet, holding out a hand to help Sweetpea who struggled, his long limbs stiff from an uncomfortable nights sleep on the floor. By the time they made it over to Aspen’s father, Sweetpea had just about kicked the pins and needles from his booted feet and was rubbing sleep from his eyes.
“Fangs.” John Mills’ words washed any sleep away from the two teenagers minds’ like a bucket of ice cold water. The name of their fallen friend, a loss that was still so fresh in their minds.
“What about him?” Sweetpea asked, trying his best to keep his deep voice quiet so as not to wake any of the sleeping ophidians that surrounded them.
“He’s alive.” FP stated, and for a moment Aspen and Sweetpea merely stared at him.
“He’s what?” Aspen asked in disbelief.
“He’s alive, we had to make it look like the shot had killed him, for his safety.” FP quickly explained.
Aspen frowned, she had so many questions, she felt hurt, lied to and relieved all in the same moment. But she didn’t have time to express any of that because Sweetpea had taken her hand, a grin lighting up his handsome face as he turned her to face him. Fangs Fogarty was his very best friend, he had been for as long as Sweetpea could remember, and losing him had been like taking a bullet to his own chest, like losing a limb. Before she knew it, Aspen’s lips were pressed against Sweetpeas in a hard kiss. She could feel him smiling against her lips and the sensation made her own smile widen. Eventually they pulled away from one another, breathless and beaming. Their friend was okay, they were going to be okay.
