So jgabuyuanart requested I draw Okidogi as Hanna Barbera's Auggie Doggie and who was I to say no? Trying to combine the two was surprisingly fun.

Puppy love
Kiara Scuro. Lilian Moros. Auggie the doggy.
“Auggie, no!” Lilian shouted as her speeding ball of black fur bypassed shot past her with the tennis ball and rocketed toward the fencing. She jogged to catch up as her mutt stood on her hind legs and dropped her toy over the fence.
It bounced as it hit the ground, rolling toward the street before a booted foot halted its path. Auggie’s whiplike black tail wagged vigorously as the toy’s savior picked it up and held it out for the canine.
Instead of accepting it, Auggie barked joyfully.
“Sorry about her,” Lilian apologized as she caught up, brushing the hair that had fallen out of her ponytail away from her face. “Auggie, down.”
Auggie ignored her command, barking at the young woman he was bothering. She wore a hunter green longsleeve-dress that reached just below her knees, paired with leggings and a corset-style belt that accentuated her small waist. She had a rectangular bag hanging from her shoulder, but her face was shadowed by the wide-brimmed hat and a scarf. A blonde lock peeked out from beneath the cloth.
The woman grinned as Lilian’s dog whimpered, her nose nudging at the ball. She tore her attention from the dog and practically froze, floored by her own’s beauty.
God, there’s no way I’d fail photography class with a subject like her.
“Augustina, get down from there,” the brunette repeated. Her mischievous pup barked before getting off the fence, eyes still fixed on the toy as she ducked her head to rest on her white-socked paws.
“I don’t mind throwing it for her, if you don’t mind,” the stranger offered, her gray eyes sparkling as she met Lilian’s eyes. The blonde blushed slightly at the connection.
Lilian glanced down at Auggie and sighed. “Have at it,” she conceded.
The woman wound up for a pitch and launched the ball, laughing as Auggie joyously chased.
“I really am sorry about her,” Lilian repeated with an amused shake of her head. “Sometimes she just sees somebody and goes ‘New Friend!’ and nothing else penetrates her skull. We’re still working on that in training.”
“It’s an exciting opportunity,” the woman said with mock sobriety.
Lilian heard Auggie’s pleased bark her mutt gave before retrieving her target. “I’d better go before she comes back to torment you.”
The blonde laughed and set off with a wave as Auggie came bounding toward them, darting around Lilian as she stooped to take the ball and heading toward the blonde’s retreating figure at the corner of the fence. The dog dropped the ball and whimpered, twisting around to look anxiously at Lilian over her shoulder.
“You’re such an attention whore,” Lilian chastised fondly as she ruffled Auggie’s ears. “Now, are you going to give up the ball or is it time to head home?”
New friend forgotten, Auggie flopped to the ground and rolled on to her back, exposing her white belly for pets.
~*~
“Hi Auggie,” somebody crooned behind Lilian. Her dog went crazy, twisting her leash around Lilian’s legs as she circled excitedly, barking joyously – a noise that started a chain reaction as the dozen or more dogs nearby responded in kind. “Whoa there!”
This Pawsitively-Wonderfully adoption reunion might have been a bit much. Auggie was still easy to excite, especially after being cooped up in a winter filled with storms and blizzards. But it was for a good cause, with each ticket allowing admission to an open bar and giving profits to the rescue.
“Auggie, sit!” Lilian commanded.
Her pup obeyed with a whine, looking up at her owner balefully as if she had just been told her favorite squeaky toy was broken. Auggie stayed still, wiggling frustratedly, as Lilian untangled the lead and saw the blonde from the dog park several months earlier.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to excite her,” the woman said with an apologetic smile. She held her camera up to avoid it getting caught between her body and a massive dog who rested their front paws on her shoulders and covered her face in kisses. Her free hand flew to her hat, pinning it on her head while the dog did its damnedest to knock it off.
Fuck, Shit, why does she have to look so good when I’m covered in dog hair and great Dane drool.
“It’s hard not to do when there are so many potential friends so close,” Lilian drawled, her voice raised so she could be heard over the raucous noise. Auggie’s tail swept the floor, struggling to be a good girl and stay while itching to say hello to the other dog.
“Harley, down! C’mon girl,” another woman ordered. She tugged the beast off the photographer, ignoring the dog’s whine. “Kiara, I’m sorry! She should know better – you could have just pushed her off.”
“I know, Beth, but I was a little more focused on standing upright,” the tall young woman – Kiara – laughed. She rubbed Harley’s head – level with her waist.
Beth shook her head. “I’d hate for her to ruin that camera off yours. We owe so much to it.”
She coaxed Harley away, her lead wrapped several times around her hand, affectionately chastising her pup.
Kiara set the camera on a table and turned her attention was back on Auggie, her hand outstretched. “May I?” she ventured, her eyes crinkled with laughter.
Auggie’s ears perked up.
“Stay,” Lilian commanded. “Go ahead.”
The blonde knelt, a broad smile on her face as she scratched behind Auggie’s ears. “Good girl, you’re such a good girl.”
“When she wants to be,” the brunette muttered fondly, patting Auggie’s back. Her dog twisted her neck to look at her owner, her tongue lolling out of her mouth in happiness. “So you’re here for the reunion?”
“Kind of. I started volunteering at the shelter a few months ago, once my finals were over and I needed serotonins. I’ve been taking photos for the local pet rescues, hoping pictures of the animals not in their cages help with adoption,” Kiara explained, standing up.
“I think I saw something about that on the news – were you the one who thought of the Cupid wings around Valentine’s Day?” Lilian asked, with a grin. “It was cute! If Auggie wasn’t such a handful by herself, I might have been tempted to adopt again.”
The blonde smiled proudly, a small blush tainting her cheeks at the praise.
Despite this, Lilian knew she was holding back, afraid of something. The blonde’s thoughts were littered with references to helping out in ways she could, and wanting to be more than a name on a check. The brunette studied the younger woman, noticing the higher quality of her dog-hair covered clothing and subtle hints of wealth.
Bored at the lack of attention, Auggie huffed and stretched, her tail beating rhythmically against Lilian’s leg. She pulled at her leash slightly as if reminding her owner that there were friends for her to meet.
Kiara noticed with a laugh. “I’d better get back to taking photos and let you socialize.”
“You know, I never got your name,” Lilian commented before the blonde could retreat. “If we keep meeting like this, I should at least know what to call my dog’s new best friend.”
“Kiara Scuro,” the woman supplied, holding out a gloved hand.
Lilian reached out, but Auggie chose the moment to jump slightly, her head brushing against the proffered appendage. Kiara laughed, patting Auggie’s fluffy black head.
“So needy,” Lilian laughed. “It’s nice to meet you, I’m Lilian Moros.”
Gray eyes sparkled. “You mean, you’ve got a name other than Auggie’s pretty owner?”
Her eyes widened when she realized what had slipped out, her face turning furiously red. “I-I should get to work,” she stammered.
The brunette smiled as she fled.
It was almost too adorable.

The most annoying type of Tumblr post is the
Reblog if you believe we shouldn't butcher Australian children for dog food!
sort. Because yes, if you don't reblog this person's attention-seeking post, you are clearly a monster just waiting to feed your puppy on Auggie Doggie Soylent Green.
As a rule, if a post insists reblog it, I don't. Even when I oppose genocide, slavery, and the mass slaughter of Australian children.
