#105: "Axis: Bold As Love" by the Jimi Hendrix Experience (1968)
of the three Hendrix albums (all of which are on this list, by the way), this is the only one i had not heard prior to this journey. and it's naturally fantastic. Jimi and his band really are just operating on a completely different level. this one dives even deeper into the thing Jimi also pioneered besides his other-worldly guitar playing, and that's the use of the studio as an extension of the arrangement. the opening tracks plays with the stereo recording by panning left and right, there are many guitar tracks that are played backwards to create an ethereal tone.
the tracks here (with a trio of exceptions) are all fairly short, and so the record breezes by with banger after banger. the handful of longer tracks aren't all much longer, but they showcase the band's exceptional talent. what a treat.
