The Nightmare Picnic - Wally Darling x Reader
You're a brand new resident in the wonderful Welcome Home Neighbourhood, and it's the perfect day for the picnic! But your dear friend Wally Darling doesn't seem to be enjoying the fun. What will happen when you decide to try and cheer him up?
content warnings for: eye imagery, scopophobia, hypnosis, impossible physics, Eldritch, and unreality. go in assuming that Wally is a weird little guy, and you’re both terrified of and kind of enjoy that fact! 😉 you can also find this fic on my AO3. i hope you enjoy!!
The day you learn how to love Wally Darling begins like any other.
It is a balmy day, the air soft and thick and dizzy with butterflies. The sun shines with relentless cheer, and nary a cloud can be seen in the sky. Such a day in the Neighbourhood cannot be spent languishing inside, and all your new neighbours think the same way. So, which lovely activity did they decide upon? Why, a picnic on the grass, of course!
The organisation of the event is efficient and cheerful. In no time, the lush meadow surrounding the outskirts of the Neighbourhood is replete with cosy blankets to lie on, fun games to play, and a plethora of delicious foods contributed by each neighbour. Luckily, you’d baked a whole tray of cupcakes the previous day, with the intent of handing them out when bumping into your neighbours going about their daily business. The cupcakes were a huge success; even the ever-curmudgeonly Frank, who always has something to complain about, graces you with a begrudging, “It’s good, I suppose,” when you hand him a vanilla cupcake topped with a green-icing butterfly.
'I needed this,’ you think as you look around at your new friends. You’ve only been a resident of the Neighbourhood for a few months, but in that time you’ve grown so close to its colourful cast of neighbours as if you’d known each other your whole lives. Right now, they’re dotted across the meadow, smiling and laughing without a care in the world: Howdy’s busy putting together an impossibly long string of daisy chains; Eddie and Sally peer into an origami fortune-teller and giggle at the results; Frank leans over a bush, studying a caterpillar, and Julie and Poppy clap and cheer whilst Barnaby entertains them with a juggling act.
It’s a gorgeous scene. Today, your heart is warm.
A small flash of yellow catches your eye. Of course, it’s an incomplete picture. You take in Wally, who sits cross-legged under the shade of a verdant apple tree. He’s holding an apple between both hands and staring at it intently, as if willing the fruit to communicate with him. It’s an odd expression - you aren’t used to seeing Wally in a state of concentration.
“Hey, Wally!” you call.
Wally looks up at you and smiles. He beckons you over.
“Hello,” says Wally, in his simple way. “I’m happy to see you.”
Oh, what a beautiful voice. Every time you hear Wally speak, it’s like the gentle lapping of his syllables sweep away your worries in a single wave.
As you get closer to Wally, you notice a few strands of his deep blue hair turning flyaway and giving in to the heat, curling away from the otherwise-immaculate pompadour and escaping the death-grip of his hairspray. He’s a little dishevelled elsewhere, too; Wally’s neckerchief is coming loose, and though he’s long since abandoned his cardigan, a stray button on his shirt remains stubbornly popped. You find yourself grinning. Wally takes such pride in his appearance that you never get to see him a little less than perfect.
“Same to you!” you say. “Aren’t you hungry? All the food’s down with the others.”
That unusually pensive look on Wally’s face deepens. He turns his eyes back to his apple. “I can’t.”
“Why not?” You rummage in your backpack and pull out a chocolate bar. “You’ve got to eat, bud. You not feeling so good?”
Wally takes the treat from you and examines it for a moment, as if the bar is a scientific curiosity. “That’s very nice of you…but this doesn’t work for me. You should keep it.”
When Wally hands the bar back, your fingers touch for the briefest moment, and a shiver works its way up your spine.
You don’t know when this… thing you have for Wally Darling began. Despite the countless nights you’ve spent desperately trying to focus on something, anything else, your thoughts inevitably return to the little yellow puppet-man and his catlike smile. There’s a strange magnetism to Wally which befits his profession as a television host; everything from the delicate way he handles his paintbrush, to his ridiculous affinity for apples, leaves you with a little more fondness than before. Wally has so much affection stored in one small body, and when you first met, you wondered how any person could love so much all at once.
But now, when you look at Wally, you understand.
“If you’re sure.” You pop the bar back into your bag and sit on the ground in front of Wally, mirroring his cross-legged pose. “The offer’s still there.”
“It’s tempting,” says Wally, now turning his apple over and over in his hands. “I’d like to know what would happen, if I tried. But Barnaby told me it isn’t worth the risk. I trust him to know.”
You have no idea what he’s talking about, but the look on Wally’s face is so uncharacteristically brooding that you don’t feel it’s polite to pry. Wally’s always been the drifting sort: those large, dewy eyes of his are perpetually lidded, and always seem to be gazing at something no one else can see. But Wally’s inattentiveness is usually matched with an infectious, excited kind of energy, bursting with nonsense and love.
Today, he almost looks sad. The idea makes you feel sick.
It occurs to you that this may be a personal issue, and Wally doesn’t know you well enough to discuss it. So you ask, “Do you want me to look away?”
Wally’s fingers still. To your surprise, the apple actually drops from his hands and rolls into the grass. You’ve never seen Wally mistreat an apple before - there must be something seriously wrong.
“Actually,” says Wally, now looking at you properly, “I’d like to try something.”
He gestures for you to shuffle closer. When you do, Wally reaches forward and takes hold of your forearms. You make a surprised noise, but Wally squeezes you, and fixes you with a smile full of reassurance and warmth. A rush of heat leaps into your cheeks, and you’re suddenly reminded of an interaction you had with another neighbour not too long ago.
It was only a week after you arrived in the Neighbourhood, and you were finally moving the last of your belongings into your home. All of your new neighbours had graciously donated their time to help you in some fashion, and you were overcome with gratitude. On that final day you were more than capable of doing the rest of the moving yourself, but your closest neighbour - the excitable Julie Joyful - volunteered to help with the last handful of delicate items. At first, you were unsure - Julie is a lovely girl and incredibly fun to be around, but so spirited that you feared for the safety of your items. But a good twenty minutes of allowing her to help with the least fragile of your boxes allayed all your fears: Julie moves with the grace of a ballerina, and the two of you soon had all your boxes stacked in your living room.
Burnt orange sunlight poured through the window, streaming soon-to-be-dusk and casting the wooden floorboards with a vibrant glow. You take a moment from the heavy lifting to look out the window. Across the lawn, you can make out a couple of your neighbours engaging in some game. Upon closer inspection, you realise it’s Wally and Barnaby, the former laughing and tossing a series of colourful balls for Barnaby to catch.
You watched as Wally swung his arm and threw a few of the balls a surprising distance, letting the large, spotted dog race off to retrieve them. Wally put his hands on his hips, as if exhausted by the exertion. He turned - and locked eyes with you. Wally’s face broke out into a huge grin, and he gave you a hearty wave. Feeling horribly embarrassed, you waved back, trying to ignore the painful squeezing of your heart. You’ve only known Wally a week, and yet you’re utterly charmed by everything he does.
A tug on your arm brought you back to the present: it’s Julie. She bats her long eyelashes at you, a knowing smile on her face.
“You like hiiiiim, ” she teased, her voice all sing-song.
“What?!”
You grabbed Julie by the shoulders and yanked her away from the window, as if Wally could somehow hear you both through sight. “No! I don’t know where you got an idea like that-”
“It’s okay, sweetie. You don’t need to pretend.”
Your face felt like it was on fire. You’d always been the careful type, ensuring your innermost thoughts and feelings stayed stuffed as far down as possible to keep you safe. But the Neighbourhood bred a kind of emotional honesty with which you were totally unfamiliar. Everyone is so exuberant, always wearing their hearts on their sleeves - some of them even literally, as plenty of your new neighbours wore outfits stitched with cute little hearts! Keeping a secret in the Neighbourhood felt wrong…even a secret crush on the silly little artist whose smile lit up your insides.
So, you give in. “How did you know?”
Julie giggles. She fishes in the pocket of her dress, and pulls out a daisy.
“I know a lot about flowers,” she explained, as she twirled the stem between her fingers. “What kinds grow in different meadows. How much sun and water and love they need to grow. They show it in their petals, and how they lean. People are a lot like that too.
“When you arrived, you looked…wilted. Like you’d been kept out of the sun for too long. I could see it, but didn’t want to ask why. I think everyone else could, too…and we all wanted to help a new friend who lost their colour.”
“You’ve all been so lovely to me,” you said, by way of thanks.
Julie nodded. “Sure we have! And it worked, for a little bit. But for a flower at the end of its days, even fresh soil, plenty of sun and lots of water can only do so much. Your petals seemed faded for good. And that’s okay. I just wanted you to be happy - whatever that looks like for you.”
You swallowed. “You see a lot, for a gardener.”
Julie smiled. “When you care for flowers, you learn to listen to their needs. Sometimes, you’ll have a flower who has everything in the world…but they’re still curling up, and shying away from the light.”
She pressed the daisy into your palm.
“Wally brings the colour back to your petals,” said Julie. “Do yourself a favour. Don’t hide from your sun.”
Another squeeze from Wally brings you out of your recollection. You suck in a deep breath, facing this new reality of Wally holding you, his fingers pleasantly warm and fuzzy.
“Close your eyes,” says Wally gently.
For anyone else, you would’ve paused - but for Wally, you comply immediately.
Slowly, you feel Wally’s hands slide down your arms to your hands. He threads his fingers through yours and holds them firm, so tight that you start to feel your blood thrumming from the pressure. Your hearing, sensitive now your sight is compromised, picks up the distant chatter of your neighbours, as well as the friendly sounds of nature at play. Your skin tingles, sweat-slicked from the heat and the nerves.
“I have a question,” says Wally, his voice wonderfully calm and soft.
“Yes?”
“Why do you eat?”
“Uh…” What kind of question was that? Wally is admittedly prone to posing questions that only a truly strange mind would think up, but this one is so baffling, you’re thrown entirely for a loop. “...So I don’t die, I guess?”
“Ha ha ha ha!” Wally’s unique, halting laugh almost startles you into opening your eyes. “You’re so funny. Okay. Do you know why I eat?”
This time, it takes you a little longer to answer. A simple enough question, surely with the exact same answer? But Wally’s voice has taken on a teasing, knowing edge - a sound you recognise from when he’s setting up a punchline. The question must be a trick. So you rack your brains, trying to think of all the times you’d seen Wally eat: where he was, what he was eating.
With your eyes still closed, you reach a strange realisation.
“I…I don’t think I’ve ever seen you eat.”
A soft chuckle from Wally. “That’s right. You haven’t.”
Wally’s grip on your hand tightens. Strangely, a weak, static noise buzzes to life, seemingly from inside your skull. You shift, trying to locate the source, but Wally holds you in place. As the noise grows, the sounds of your friends fizzle out and die. It’s as if you’ve been placed on an invisible train and are moving steadily down the track, away from all the familiar sounds of your Neighbourhood - but you can’t feel the rumbling of the track, or hear the whistle of the wind.
“But…maybe you should.”
With Wally’s words the temperature noticeably drops, and gooseflesh breaks out on your arms. You shudder, wanting to open your eyes but finding that you can’t: your eyelids feel impossibly heavy. You’re stuck in place, pinioned to the grass (which you can no longer feel) as that buzzing sound inches up by the decibel, a nasty, steady crawl which leaves your brain awash in a sea of noise.
“Open your eyes.”
You do so.
And you can’t make sense of what you see.
The sky is gone. The tree is gone. The meadow is gone. Every detail from the Neighbourhood’s comforting landscape has evaporated, leaving nothing behind but a grayscale emptiness which fuzzes in and out like television static. Even the awful buzzing sound abruptly falls away, leaving your ears with nothing but the distant sound of an unseen tide.
Wally still sits in front of you, his hands grasping yours, but it’s like he’s sitting on nothing at all: somehow supported by a cushion of emptiness. It’s like the texture of the world has fallen out of reality.
Seized by vertigo, you tighten your grip on Wally’s hands. “What’s happening?!”
“Don’t worry,” says Wally. “You’re safe.”
“There’s nothing here,” you whisper. “Where is everyone?”
“Back Home,” says Wally. “They can’t see us right now. They’re not ready.” His smile turns coy. “But I think you are. Watch this.”
Wally reaches over and rustles in your backpack. Your heart crawls into your mouth; although you can see Wally’s hands in front of you, you can somehow still feel his hands holding both of yours, keeping you locked in place. You try to look down and make sense of this impossibility, but your eyes are stuck, glued to Wally’s face. You can only watch, terrified, as he takes out your chocolate bar and locks in his gaze.
Without warning, Wally’s eyes flare open, heavy lids drawing back and revealing the full size of his large, black pupils. Wally’s stare travels steadily down the chocolate bar, a focused intensity searing from his eyes like a laser. Somehow as he stares, bite marks are chunked out of the chocolate, as if some great invisible person is taking enormous chomps out of both the bar and wrapper. In seconds, the chocolate is gone.
Panic grips your chest, and you start to hyperventilate. The world tilts, and you’re scared you might actually puke. Wally blinks, his eyelids half-blanketing those pupils once more, and he looks at you with concern. When his eyes connect, your chest convulses with panic: a type of terror you’ve never experienced before threatening to claw its way out of your body and devour you whole.
“What happened?!”
“Oh, don’t be scared,” says Wally, his voice floating and cloudlike. “This is just how I eat.”
“How - did you - do - that?” you gasp.
“I’m not sure. I’ve always eaten this way.” Wally inclines his head in sympathy. “I am sorry if I’ve made you afraid. I usually only eat when others are blinking. That way, I don’t interrupt them. I don’t want to be rude."
You suck in a huge gulp of breath. “Wally, this is…impossible,” you manage. “I want to leave - I want to go Home-”
“You can’t.”
Wally shakes his head mildly from side to side, but his eyes seem to stay still, locked into the centre of his face. No matter how much you strain to move, those incredible eyes remain right in front of you, always at the same distance, never looking away - and never blinking. In your peripheral vision, you see Wally’s hand reach up towards your face. He cups your cheek. The sensation of feeling three arms belonging to a two-armed person on your body sends a rush of nausea through your throat. Wally strokes your skin with his thumb.
“You understand me so well,” says Wally. “You see me, don’t you?”
“I don’t understand.” Another wave of dizziness rises up, pushing behind your eyeballs. The sensation is the same as the pressure of allergies arising on a high pollen day - yet you can no longer smell the flowers of the meadow. You try again in vain to rip your gaze away from Wally’s, but you can’t - and you’re finding it harder and harder to keep your eyes open.
Wally’s thumb stops, resting in the dip of your cheek. “I love my friends, but they only see one part of me. The part they want to see. But you…”
His thumb trails to the edge of your lip.
“...you see all of me.”
You’re split in two. Your brain, the logical part of your thinking, is screaming at you to do anything - to move, to scream, to run as fast as you can into the nightmare emptiness and beg for help. But the other part of you - your traitorous, emotional heart - douses the runaway fire of your fear with the intoxication of Wally’s touch. You find yourself leaning into his hand, savouring how perfectly his cheek cups your palm, and the slight fuzz of his thumb teasing your lip.
“I do,” you whisper. Suddenly, your body relaxes, and you slump forward. You feel very tired. The panic which gripped your body only moments ago is now quashed, flattened into a fine layer of dust by the weight of Wally’s impossibly black eyes. Now your nervous system is nothing but the aftermath: the feeling of fight-or-flight chemicals settling into your bloodstream, leaving you weak and sluggish.
Now, Wally’s eyes are not a source of terror. They’re a blanket you wish to curl up beneath, and never wake up.
“I think you’re special, you know,” says Wally. “The way I feel when I’m around you is…different, than with the others. You’re the absolute most.”
Wally’s words settle over your brain like a dream. You watch, your eyes heavy and drained, as Wally brings his hands up to his chest and forms the shape of his heart with his fingers. You’re no longer scared of the physical contradictions of Wally holding your hands whilst signing his affection. It seems in this reality, Wally can have as many hands as he wants.
This is why Wally’s next question confuses you so:
“Do you think if our friends saw me like this…they’d run away?”
Wally’s words are becoming harder to process. The world around him tunnels. Even though you’re sure that you’re fixed in place, sitting on some immovable, textureless cushion, Wally’s eyes grow larger, encroaching evermore on your limiting field of vision. The longer you look, the more of Wally’s scleras are swallowed by his expanding pupils. Those blown, void-black pools seem to come with their own gravity, and you’re slipping into their inconceivable pull, ready to be strewn and stretched and ripped apart by their physics.
“Oh, Wally,” you try to say, but your tongue slackens, and his name comes out as, ‘Waaalllllyyyy.’ “We love you so much. You can’t make us run away.”
Wally smiles, and you think it’s the saddest thing you’ve ever seen.
“How I wish that were true.”
Suddenly, Wally’s eyes shift just the slightest bit to the left. The effect is like unsealing a pressure chamber. For a moment you are released from his eyes, and your brain and body scramble as one, free-falling and bracing to break against the ground with a hypnic jerk. However, Wally realises his mistake and grabs you by the shoulder - another impossible arm - and forces you to look back into his eyes.
“Shh. Don’t strain yourself. The more you resist, the worse you’ll feel.”
You blink rapidly, trying to reorient yourself in space. Wally’s touch grounds you again, holding you steady in this non-existent space. You try to reply, but your mouth now hangs open, jaw useless. Saliva collects in a pool under your tongue, but Wally still keeps his thumb at the edge of your lip, now rubbing soothing circles against your flesh.
“We don’t have much time,” says Wally. “But…thank you for this. You can’t know how much I appreciate you.”
The warm flush of his approval works its way through your unresponsive body. Your muscles contract, dopamine and serotonin coating your insides and bringing your fingers - still interlocked with Wally’s - into a sudden contraction. You force your mouth into a speech-ready shape, fuelled by his words and his touch and the sheer paradox of his being, and you try so desperately to say, ‘Wally, I love you- ’
But then he looks away.
The spell is broken. Like flipping to another television channel, the world around you snaps back into place in one vivid bound. All the colour, sounds and scents of the Neighbourhood re-enter your senses in one huge burst, and the force of it almost knocks you over. Wally - who is still holding your hands, just like before - keeps you steady, crushing your hands together like he would rather die than let go.
“Hey, you two!”
Looking away from Wally feels like ripping off a plaster. Your eyes alight on Julie trotting up the meadow’s slight incline, clutching a hotdog in one hand and a cooler in the other.
“Eddie wanted me to tell you we’re packing up,” Julie chirps. “Looks like a thunderstorm is coming.” She looks down at your hands, still intertwined with Wally’s, and grins. “Am I interrupting something?”
“Just some good old-fashioned fun,” says Wally, his voice impassive and gentle.
The ability for words has deserted you. You stare back at Wally, searching desperately for something supernatural in the darks of his eyes. Wally looks normal - as normal as a small, yellow puppet can - and his eyes are back to their half-lidded, sleepy-looking state. It takes a couple of nudges with his foot for Wally to bring you back to earth.
Wally lets go of your hands, and you can feel the blood pumping in the spaces between your fingers. You try standing up, but your legs are weak and wobbly, as if you’d just run a marathon while sitting in one spot. They would’ve collapsed beneath you, but Wally catches you before you slip. He hauls you up and loops his arm around yours.
“Just hungry,” Wally says with a smile. “Let’s get you Home."
Julie leads the way down the small embankment, with Wally supporting your timid, uneasy steps. You soon reach your neighbours, now busying themselves in tidying up the remnants of your picnic. Upon seeing you, they all crowd around, asking if you’re okay. Barnaby remarks that you look terribly pale, and Sally offers to bring you a drink. However, Wally shoos them off, admonishing them in a familial sort of way. He reassures them that you’ve just had a small fainting spell, and need to get some rest.
Now free of the others, Julie, Wally and yourself make the way home - and you’re thankful it’s only a short distance. When you finally reach your porch you want to fall over onto the steps, but Wally keeps you held upright: a firm, reassuring presence at your side.
“You need to tell us if you get this again, okay?” says Julie, looking at you with worry in her eyes.
“Okay,” you say, giving a weak nod.
“Thank you. Feel better soon, okay?”
Julie gives you and Wally a final glance over. Having determined you’ll be more than fine in Wally’s care, she bids her goodbyes and skips off to help the rest of your neighbours.
“Ha ha ha,” laughs Wally. “Julie is a good friend. I’m lucky to have her in my life.”
You look sideways at Wally. He catches your eye, and dips his head in a nod. “I feel the same way about you,” he says.
The question is implied in his voice - a little waver at the edge of his words.
“Wally…I don’t really understand what happened today,” you say. “But…I know it doesn’t change how much I like you."
The beam that dawns on Wally’s face is so wide, it almost cracks in two. “Thank you,” he whispers.
You can’t help but return the grin. “Thank you for being vulnerable with me.”
Wally lets go of your arm, and turns to face you properly. He reaches up one hand, and then hesitates, his eyes flickering back and forth between yours as if pondering a question.
Finally, Wally leans in and gives you a small, gentle kiss on the cheek. You inhale sharply, your arms hanging limply by your side and your fingers curling into questioning shapes. His mouth is plush and downy, and the impression of his lips sends a toasty-sweet feeling rocketing through your body.
When Wally pulls back, his yellow skin is dusted pink about his cheeks.
“Always know,” he says softly, “that I love you very much.”
Then, he’s leaving. You watch in stunned silence as Wally’s back retreats into the distance, making his way to join the throng of your neighbours. A slight rumble in the distance makes you look up: a cluster of thunderclouds gather at the edge of the Neighbourhood, fat with the promise of rain.
You touch your lips gently, and smile. Then, you retreat inside the safety of your home…with the warm memory of Wally’s kiss playing in your mind, and static still buzzing in your fingers.

Apple of my Eye (Obsessed!Wally Darling x Short!Reader) Pt. 3
Oh boy, here I go writing again >:3
Anyways, to everyone who has supported this or left a nice comment, just know I would die for you 💙
After this, I'm thinking of writing something for Howdy. There isn't nearly enough fics on here about our favorite bug boi 💚🐛 it might just be some HCs but I gotta do something for him cause now I ALSO have a lil crush on him ;-; he's so tall and he's got all those arms for huggin! I kinda also wanna make an OC to ship with him. I was thinking maybe a snail who works at the Bugdega with him. I just really like snails, I have 2 of them as pets 🐌❤️
Anyway, on with this fic. Enjoyyy!
!!!(TW: obsessive behaviors, jealousy, eye imagery)!!!
💙🍎💛🍎💙🍎💛🍎💙🍎💛🍎💙🍎💛🍎💙
The next day, you got up with more enthusiasm than usual. You decided on a nice light breakfast of (fav fruit) so you could save your appetite for lunch with Wally.
Oh boy, there you went thinking about him again...
After last night, you couldn't seem to get him out of your mind. Even when you finally managed to fall asleep, you dreamt of him.
Dreams of more dates, of gentle kisses as you watched the sunset, of cuddles and movies and snacks under a cozy blanket...
What was happening to you? You were positive you'd never been so lovesick before...
It was even hard for you wait until lunchtime that day. Instead of your usual hobbies to pass the time, you found yourself staring at the clock and fidgeting. You tried to keep yourself busy, but couldn't seem to focus on any of the books or tv shows you tried to watch. It all just came back to the agonizingly slow ticking of the clock on the wall.
But finally...FINALLY it was time to start getting ready, and you practically jumped off the couch to get started.
Eventually you stood in your kitchen, waiting for Wally to arrive. Not a hair out of place, not a single wrinkle in your clothing, and not a clue what you would do when he actually showed up. Wally always seemed to fluster you, and you didn't want to be fumbling over yourself on a date with him, of all things! What would he think?!
Your anxious thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. Taking a deep breath, you made your way as gracefully as possible to the door to answer it.
And there he was. Wearing a red suit and holding a very colorful bouquet of flowers in his hands, he smiled at you with that calm expression he always seemed to have.
"(Y/n), you look..."
Oh heavens...there it was again, that warmth within him. You looked absolutely, positively, wonderfully....
"Perfect..." he breathed, his eyes taking in your full form. He realized after a few beats that he was staring, and shifted his eyes up to your blushing face instead.
You shyly looked down at your shoes and squirmed under his gaze.
"Ah, golly...stop it or I'll melt. You look breathtaking in a suit too, Wally..."
You could absolutely cut the romantic tension with a knife at this point, it hung so heavily in the air. Suddenly, Wally remembered the flowers.
"Oh, I got you these! I can't lie, they were Barnaby's suggestion...I don't know much about dates. I've never been on one before"
He held them out to you, and you took them catefully, your fingers brushing his for a moment. You glanced at each other and then bashfully looked away again.
"They're gorgeous! I-I better get them in a vase so they last a long time! I'll only be a moment.."
Wally came in to wait while you rummaged in the kitchen cabinet for a nice vase to put your flowers in.
Looking around your living room, he noticed a few pictures hung up of you with some people he didn't recognize...including a man you seemed particularly close with.
His eye twitched.
"Say, (y/n), who are these fine folks in these pictures with you?"
"Hm? Oh! Those are some of my friends back home!"
thisisyourhome
"Yeah, shame I can't see them as much anymore. But we still call often!"
don'ttalktothem
You came back to the living room, having found a suitable vase for the flowers and displayed them on your kitchen table. You noticed Wally looking at one picture in particular and smiled.
"Ah, that's me and my cousin! That was a fun summer..."
Suddenly, the anger clouding Wally's mind evaporated. He realized his stare was about to break the glass of the picture frame, and he looked away, straightening his tie and smiling at you.
"Well, I'm sure living here will give you plenty new memories to hang on the wall"
You nodded.
"I'm sure it will, too. Hey, I'll grab my camera and maybe you and I can take one!"
A picture with him? To hang on your wall?
Though Wally had no heart, he was almost positive he felt one skip a beat in his chest as he thought about you displaying him among your closest friends and family. Was he really that important to you?
He watched you pack your camera away in the basket, and picked it up before you could. You looked up at him questioningly, but he just smiled and offered you his arm.
"I'll carry it. Come on, there's a lot to see!"
Wally brought you all around town, pointing out spots of interest and naming off which neighbors lived in which houses. Several of them were outside as you went by, and you got to meet them finally.
Julie was absolutely ecstatic to meet you! She gave you a lovely yellow flower from her garden and offered to come over and do your hair one day.
Frank was cold at first, but when you complimented his bowtie and expressed interest in the book he was reading, he warmed up and said you could come by for book discussion and tea anytime.
Alternatively, Barnaby was warm immediately! He was proud to see his best buddy on a date with such a pretty and polite new neighbor, and he told you some of his best jokes. And it was nice to meet the guy who gave Wally all that date advice!
Howdy was outside sweeping when you came by, and shook your hand with 2 of his. When he learned of your plans to have a picnic, he gave you a couple of the cookies he had just gotten in stock. On the house! And told you to come by the shop anytime you needed anything.
Eddie wasn't at the post office, but you did cross paths later on your walk. He tipped his hat and introduced himself, but seemed to get distracted when he spotted Frank catching butterflies across the street, and quickly excused himself, stumbling over his own feet on the way. You asked Wally what was up with him, and he chuckled.
"Eddie and Frank are...well...fond of each other"
"Ohh!" you said as it finally clicked in your mind.
"They are cute together, aren't they?"
You looked at Wally shyly.
"Cuter than us?"
His face flushed bright red.
"Nothing is cuter than you, dearest~ Why, you're the loveliest thing I've ever laid eyes on~"
You giggled teasingly, but felt his arm wrap around your waist as you continued on your walk. Your face grew warm for the millionth time since you met him, but you managed to at least lean your head against his shoulder in return.
Eventually, you arrived at the picnic spot. It was shady and private and the grass was soft.
"This is where I like to paint sometimes. I love Home and the neighbors and all...but sometimes quiet and solitude is nice as well"
You nodded as you grabbed the blanket from the basket and spread it out.
"That makes sense. I like my alone time too, but...for some reason I never need a break from you, Wally" you admitted, looking away shyly.
He was silent for a beat, then chuckled and plopped down onto the blanket. You moved to sit across from him, but he unexpectedly took your hands and guided you to sit in his lap. He kissed your hands and gazed up at you like you were the most divine thing he had ever seen.
Because you were.
"I could never get tired of you either. You've given my life meaning again"
Your eyes widened and sparkled at his words. You were speechless until one of his hands came up to caress your cheek. You leaned into his hand, and he smiled.
"Could I..?"
"Oh, please do.."
And he did.
Warmth spread through your body, right to your very soul. Everything around the two of you seemed to fade away until even the chirping of the birds was fuzzy and distant. You weren't sure how long the kiss lasted, but when Wally did pull away, he sighed.
"If you aren't mine after this, I'll surely die.."
You smiled, leaning your forehead against his.
"Looks like the show must go on, Mr. Darling"
A giddy grin spread across his face and he attacked your face and neck with joyful kisses.
When you two were finished kissing and flirting, you decided to finally have your lunch. There were a few apple-based dishes, but to Wally's surprise, he liked everything! He had always been a picky eater; rarely trying new things and only eating when he absolutely had to, but soon he found a whole new world of foods he liked. Sandwiches, cookies, watermelon...they were all delightful! Who knew!
Of course, he only took bites when you weren't looking. He wasn't ready to tell you how he ate yet, and he didn't want to scare you off. So instead, he would lift the food to his mouth before blinking, just to seem more realistic.
But you were too dazed from all the kisses and your new boyfriend to notice or care.
Boyfriend...oh, the thought made you shudder with excitement! And he was so sweet and marvelous, you never wanted your time with him to end. You'd never met anyone you didn't eventually need space from, but you were positive you would be quite content to sit on this blanket under this tree with him forever, holding hands and making jokes and eating yummy food...
But eventually, the sun started to go down and it was time to pack up. Wally helped you put everything away, and suddenly you spotted your camera at the bottom of the basket.
"Oh, hey! Let's take that picture before we go"
Wally seemed excited for it, and pulled you back into his lap. You took several pictures; your faces together smiling, your lips to his cheek, making bunny ears over the top of his pompadour, and a few kissing ones. You made sure to snap two of each so he could have one, then tucked your camera away in the basket again. You spread out the photos on the blanket at smiled at him.
While you waited for them to develop, you both laid down to watch the clouds.
"Ooh! That one looks like a flower!" you exclaimed, pointing to it. Wally hummed in agreement.
"I think that one is a car"
"What? No way, it looks like a banana! And so do you!" You said, sitting up and poking his face where his nose would be.
"How's that?"
"I don't know! ...you're yellow?"
"Ha ha ha...(y/n) you're very imaginative. One of the things I love about you"
You blushed.
"Well...I love your laugh"
"I love your smile"
"I love your hair"
"I love your cooking"
"I love you"
Silence. You slapped your hand over your mouth and sat straight up, refusing to look at him. Where did that come from?! Nervously, you waited for him to say something. Anything.
"...please say it again"
Slowly, you turned to look at him. He was sitting up now, too, and his eyes were wide.
"I..I love..you...and maybe that's weird or wrong! I just met you yesterday! So it's crazy, but I...I love you, Wally"
"(Y/n) you are just...the absolute most.."
There were hearts in his eyes as he grabbed your shoulders and kissed you yet again, smiling against your lips.
"I love you too"
...
"Oh hey, the photos are done"
💙🍎💛🍎💙🍎💛🍎💙🍎💛🍎💙🍎💛🍎💙
Welp. What a date, huh? ☺️ little less yandere in this part, but part 4 will have plenty. I wanted to establish that it's not just some random obsession, he's genuinely in love with you and you feel the same.
Should make yandere dynamic...interesting.
As always, more to come ❤️🍎

what if y/n or reader was the villain in the show welcome home puppet show and had a crush on one of the character
There was only one person who did this so far and i loved it
would the reader go easy on them or harder so no one would know
would they show concern when there crush is crying
would they stop there plans all together if they were asked by that person (only for a day maybe)
Tysm for the request and love the idea! And I’m doing this with 2 of the members in cast if that is ok because no on was specified on here and I just really want to write about Julie! Also this is fan content of welcome home that has nothing to do with the lore!
Tumblr media
Oh to be the antagonist of this story is very “interesting”. You’re always the cause of the moral of the story on why doing whatever it was is bad. Or you just sabotage them throughout the show.
But mostly sabotaging the main character Wally Darling. Always messing up his paintings by adding yourself to the picture. Literally you just crudely draw yourself right beside him. Even going as far as to cross a few of his friends out or replace their heads with yours. While always leaving a signature evil as yours right next to his with a little heart. All over yours and his neat signature. Sometimes putting a heart around both your signatures as a way to circle them. You thought it was cute and a sweet sorry. While Wally was sometimes annoyed by this you would always cut him off before he could say anything.
Most of the time apologizing with “ I’m so so very very sor-sore- sarh- sarh-I think I’m gonna puke! SORY! I said it now you can’t be mad at me…oh geepers my tummy is all topsy turvery now I hope your happy!”
Yes for comedic purposes you could never say sorry without almost puking it was a curse and a gift.
You would always go the hardest on him. No matter where or who he was with Wally would always be your main target. He was just so much fun to mess with. Such as putting the blame on him in Howdy Pillar’s shop by stealing an apple from its once neat stand. Leaving a mess for the yellow man to have to clean up himself. As they all fall you disappear with a clever disguise. Glasses and a mustache. The perfect disguise no one can recognize you! Well kinda? Howdy and Frank always know it’s you and you have no idea how. You fooled Julie and Barnaby with it. Even Wally you think? So how are they exposing you like that!?
For anyone else maybe a few pranks here and there but Wally oh dear sweet Wally will always be victim to your harshest pranks.
But Wally was also the only person you ever listened to that made you stop your devious plans all together. One little “ No, not today Neighbor.” And you’re done for. Fully defeated, and devastated that your plans were cancelled. Not really to be honest you could always do them next time.
Crying. Is something you’d never really try to make anyone do. Really it’s all harmless fun until someone gets hurt. And if Wally do happened to get hurt or start crying your the one who is literally comforting him. Pulling out tons of tissues from your pocket. Panicking over the fact that you made him cry. So you’ll disappear for a few days and go very and almost too easy in everyone especially Wally for once.
Tumblr media
You were once again in your unnoticeable disguise. The same one you always wore as you walked around the colorful road of the neighborhood to find Wally. You the came upon the man asking what to paint. Excitedly rushing over onto his shoulder.
“ I think you should paint me~!” you announced dramatically catching the blue haired man off guard.
“ Sure neighbor.” He said gaining his composure now catching you off guard.
Now this was a surprise as you blushed. You quirked your eyebrow at his calmness and to the fact that he willingly without hesitation said he would paint you.
“ Fine then…stranger! Paint me as if I’m the most amazing person in the world! Because I am!” You proclaimed in a dramatic pose.
“ Whatever you say ___.” He said with a sigh as he started to paint catching you fully off guard.
You panicked declaring an answer on how he knew it was you.
“ You use the same disguise and put a different mustache on every time you’re doing something no good.” He said as you huffed.
You thought no one would notice especially with the purple mustache. Come on it was purple and very long and pointy too. And you even got different shoes. This is so unbelievable the nerve of that pretty man!
Tumblr media
To be the antagonist of the story and have Julie as your main “victim” is the hardest thing ever. She always laughs and says “ Oh neighbor you’re so silly!” or “ Can you teach me how to do that!?” and even “ Hear let me help you I know an easier way to do that.”
She is too nice to you. She even laughs when you’re doing your evil laugh too! It throws your whole vibe off! You’re supposed to be the evil villain that strikes fear and misery. Not the joke of a villian with some stupidly adorable blonde who always helps and complements you! No she’s supposed to fear you not hug you right after you just tripped over falling face first from your epic exit!
With Julie you go harder on her than anyone else! Not because you like her no it’s because you hate that she is supper nice and supportive; She’s always trying to help you become a better person and…she needs to be stopped. Julie is always thought rushed away from you when Frank is near. The man pulls her away as she tells you “ Bye ___! Hope you have a good day!”
“ Guys I think they just need a chance!” She’ll say while being told “ THEY JUST TRIED TO TRICK HOWDY INTO GIVING THEM OWNER SHIP OF HIS OWN SHOP!”
Making Julie cry is the worst thing you could ever do. Literally if you’re the reason she cried or because you ran into the always happy blonde crying you better give her a hug. It’s technically illegal not to. She is just a ball of pure sunshine that is too nice. If you don’t hug or try to comfort her you’re a heartless monster at that point. But if you are the reason she cried because of you. Do not show your face for a few days. Never show your face again you monster!
Tumblr media
“ Hey Julie….Um so I’m sorry about what happened yesterday… I brought you flowers.” You sighed as you handed her the huge bouquet of all her favorite flowers.
“Listen I swear I didn’t mean to ruin that feild of flowers…my Poison-inator3000 somehow malfunction and-“ “ Oh Neighbor! You’re the best!” She gasped hugging you around the neck with a loving squeeze.
She happily smiled at you as you just stood in show with the bouquet still in your hands. You slowly hugged her unsure how to huge her in your akward position and mental state. The sweet blonde is hugging you. Repeat the sweet adorable blonde is hugging you.
Tumblr media
Sorry for the wait I’ve been busy recently. So expect me to post more often! Hope you’re all doing well or things are getting better!
Sincerely-Cup1dT3a💕

Wallaby Headcanons!
I love these two way too much! I have to share my headcanons with you all, the citizens of doodletown!
Tumblr media
Wally loves to play with Barnaby's ears! They're very soft and one of Wally's favorite textures.
Wally's favorite place to sit is on Barnaby's shoulders
Barnaby likes to show Wally magic tricks! He once pulled an apple out of his hat as a confession gift and Wally was so impressed!
Wally often forgets little things about himself, but Barnaby is there to remind him!
Wally chews on the stitches of his fingertips as a nervous stim, so Barnaby helped him stitch them back together
Movie nights! So many movie nights!
WWally's eyes dilate whenever he's near Barnaby and the silly blue dog can tell when he's staring affectionately or with malice
The two love to hold hands while walking! in fact, Wally's gotten so used to having his hand held that he'll accidentally grab another neighbor's hand if he's walking alongside them.
Since Wally can eat with his eyes, he's curious as to how everything tastes. Barnaby often has to tell him not to eat a chunk out of the counter-
The two like to draw on each other's faces an arms! Frank has spotted them all marked up at least 7 times
Wally likes to cook in his spare time and Barnaby is his certified taste tester!
They both walk barefoot around the house
Wally is almost always at Barnaby's place!
They give each other stickers!
Wally is the only person Barnaby shares his food with
Barnaby is teaching Wally to dance!
They have little ragdolls of each other that they cuddle with at night
Wally prefers Barnaby's hand beans over fidget toys
Wally doesn't mind when Barnaby lays on him amd oftentimes falls asleep when he does
Sometimes they'll plan picnics or have playdates where they decorate the sidewalk with more chalk drawings
They always go to Howdy's place together
Barnaby helps Wally read through the guestbook
Wally gives gentle pecks/kisses while Barnaby prefers to give big wet kisses
Sometimes the two do their own thing whike in each other's company
Wally always gets up early, no matter how late he went to sleep. Barnaby always sleeps in past 12
Only Barnaby has seen Wally cry
Wally loves sweet foods while Barnaby like savory foods
Wally doesn't mind the texture of paper while Barnaby despises it
They both eat whipped cream right out of the can
They have three photobooks filled with mostly pictures of them together
They both like to act in Sally's plays!
Wally loves to be tickled and Barnaby always does it to cheer him up after a bad day
Barnaby likes to chew on Wally's fingers. He doesn't seem to mind
They have alternate nicknames for each other! Spots and Swirls
Barnaby gazes lovingly at wally even when he does the most mundane of things
They both hate the sound of fireworks, but love the looks of them
Wally uses Barnaby as a pillow
They like to play with the beetles in Frank's garden
On weekends, they build pillow forts in their houses and make shadow puppets!
Sometimes Wally just needs a big ol squeeze! And Barnaby is al2ays there to provide!
Both have stepped barefoot in paint and run aroind the neighborhood to leave little tracks!
They have one tree they carved their names into as a pledge to never leave each other
Wally will listen to Barnaby talk to for hours on end
Wally gets jealous sometimes and often secretly holds grudges
Barnaby makes Wally some hot cocoa if he can't relax
They kiss each other's hands before going their separate ways
Wally tries to paint in the dark and Barnaby has to remind him to turn on a light
Barnaby likes to trace little shapes on Wally's hand. Sometimes he even leaves him a message!(Wally can barely understand what he writes though)

Hiii Eddie I hope you're having a good day!!! If you're still taking fic requests could you please write a fic about wally babysitting a little reader who's autistic and they finger paint together or something like that sorry this is kinda long just have a great day
Hello neighbor!
This one's short and sweet. Reader has a small shutdown and Wally, your babysitter, provides comfort through regression.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Now, now," Wally tuts. "What ever will we do?"
You are sitting in the corner of Home's living room, having come over to play with your sitter earlier that day. You're sniffling slightly, the lights feeling far too bright and the noises far too loud. You have your hands rested over your ears, and Wally's voice is muffled behind them.
Wally sits down across from you, tilting his head. "May I touch you?" You shake your head no, squeezing your eyes shut and pulling back from him on instinct, not wanting your felts to touch each other. Wally nods. "That's okay. Do you need to do something distracting, or do you need a nap in the dark?"
You sniffle again, though your tears have mostly dried and settled into quiet distress. "Distraction," you mutter.
"Okay! I will get my headphones for you, and then I will get a distraction." He sounds very determined to do these simple tasks, as though doing it for you means everything to him. You can't help smiling after him as he walks off.
A loud creak sounds at you, and it makes you cover your ears harder. "No, please, Home," you say, feeling bad that your friend can't speak with you right now due to the way its creaking gnaws at your eardrums. "We can play later," you promise him. Home falls silent respectfully, and Wally emerges from his bedroom with a pair of red earmuffs. They look like lumpy circles at first, but as he gets closer you realise they're apples!
It's a very cute sight, and you smile again despite the tear streaks on your face. Wally gently guides your hands away and immediately replaces them with the earmuffs. He's saying something to you, but it's too muffled to hear, so you give him a confused look.
He speaks up louder, in a very slow, pointed voice. "Would you like to paint, little neighbor?"
You seem unsure for a moment, wondering if the texture of the paints might be too much? It doesn't usually bother you, so perhaps it's worth a try. You nod and Wally nods back.
Moments later, you both are spread out on the floor in between bottles of paint and several pieces of construction paper. You have a green paper and are smearing blue paint over it, creating what seems to be a skyline. Maybe you'll add flowers? Bees to pollinate them? Endless possibilities!
You can't hear Wally, but he's painting beside you, with yellow paper and red paint. While you do feel more at ease, the lights are still very bright, and it's making it hard to relax, as everything seems more saturated, like it's jumping into your face.
"Home?" you call out, a bit too loud since you can't hear yourself. "Close window?" Home creaks their shutters shut for you, and a few friendly squeak, squeak, squeaks! ring out at you. You sigh, the room darkening and now only lit by a lamp in the corner.
Wally pats your head softly, and you turn to look at him, pulling up one headphone so you can hear him. "Reader, what did you paint? Do you want to see what I have painted?"
You hold up your pretty picture of a field, with bright colorful flowers and two buzzing bees, nodding at wanting to see his as well. Wally holds up a drawing that is two circles with one inside the other. You quirk an eyebrow, a little confused. But then it clicks.
"A eye?
"Yes, neighbor. Because eye love you," he boops your nose with a paint covered finger, and the red stains your nose. You giggle and touch his cheek, also spotting him with paint. Wally laughs slowly when he hears you giggling, assuming something silly must be at foot. "Barnaby teaches me good jokes, I think."
"Do you feel better, my littlest neighbor?"
You pause and consider it, and yes, you do feel better. In the darkened room with most loud noises fallen away, relaxing with your babysitter, you feel quite good, even! Wally smiles wider as you nod in confirmation, and he sets his picture down.
"Oh, that's good. What do you want to do now?"
"Snacks!" you cry, raising your hands in the air.
"Okay. I still have your favorites in my refrigerator, blossom."
"Snacks!" you cheer again.
"Snacks," Wally agrees.
You chant it and Wally states it back and forth to each other as you make your way to the kitchen, happy to just be there with each other, despite any troubles the day may have given you.

A picture not ment to be seen
Pairing: Wally Darling x Writer!Male reader
New Neighbor Masterlist
Summary: Home had blocked Wally's memories of you, Home honestly loved you but it was to painful to remember you and so Home made a pact with Wally's friend. No one was to say your name or show your pictures to Wally.
Illustrated Au, angsty fic time peeps! This is technically put on the future of New Neighbor! Picture done by @frog-cultist
Tumblr media
Wally has always been a loved character by all of his neighbors and even by his sentient Home but he couldn't help feeling dread everytime he had to hang out.
It always felt like if they were hiding something from him and be didn't like that feeling, he loathed it; everytime he went to the bugdega Howdy will snap a picture frame against the table so he couldn't see it, everytime he visited Julie she would make him wait while she "tidied up", Sally would just not allow him in her house unless he called a day or two to warn her, Barnaby will distract him while Poppy ran around her house in a panicked way and Poppy would return the favor with Barnaby in the exact way, Frank and Eddie would quiet down everytime he was near and even Home would lock him outside while some banging could be heard inside the house as if it was hiding something.
Wally decided there was only one thing he could do and that was break into the bugdega which he normally did to eat free apples to Howdy's dismay and see what that picture frame hid. And with a determined mind his mission started with a picklock in the middle of the night until he managed to open the door.
Wally walked around the shop making sure to not make noise while he used his flashlight to illuminate his path and finally he arrived to the front of the store where the picture frame was still slammed on the table from earlier, they were little shard's of glass since Howdy used to much strength and his eyes widened. It was a picture where a beautiful guy was smiling happily showing the little gap he had in one of his teeth and he was holding Wally, they were both blushing. In the top it was written by Sally the words "New Neighbor" and in the bottom the picture had written in Howdy's handwriting the words which made Wally breathless.
"Wally Darling met his future boyfriend M/n Cherry!"
Part two is on the making but let me know if you wanna be tagged

My observations from the Welcome Home secret Episodes and Other Important Items. (Some details will be reblogged on this post.)
Hidden Video Link Summaries
These are summaries I created of each secret of @partycoffin's Welcome Home episodes and the few things I've notices in them. I have yet to review the audio linked from the pictures drawn by Wally, but I am curious if they are the "Answers" to each question that cuts off the video.
These episodes can be accessed by finding all the bugs on the pages of the Welcome home website. I will late post all their locations, but the links will be pictured below.
In all the episodes, there is a loud dial sound or a noise cutting to the video at the beginning. The video ends when another character mentions Wally, causing the video and audio to glitch. We seem to be viewing Wally’s point of view in these episodes.
“Answer"
Howdy delivers yarn to Poppy and procures a “yarn spinner” which is most likely a handheld whisk. Poppy is appreciative but skeptical about this device, as she already has help from Wally.
POV- We are sitting on a quilt with yarn in our hands looking at the ground. He remains rather stationary the entire time.
2. “Answer”
Sally is asking Poppy to make her a cake for an upcoming show or play. She wants a huge three tier cake that’s vibrant and showstopping. Poppy inquires about the flavor or the cake, but Sally hadn’t thought that far ahead since the audience wouldn’t be able to taste it from their seats. Then Poppy asks Wally what he thinks and that’s when the video ends.
POV- We are sitting on a quilt with plates of tea, an apple, pancakes, and a duck plate of a single piece of broccoli. Compared to last time, we see Wally move his hand back and forth from the teacup in front of him.
3. "Answer"
Sally has come in to Howdy’s grocery store to buy either chips or potatoes. She wants something light, something not as heavy as chips so Howdy suggests mashed potatoes. She ends up getting those and a bunch of other food that seem inedible. Then Howdy asks if Wally wants anything.
POV- We are facing two cereal boxes. The cereal box on the right is moved forward slightly during the video.
4. “Answer”
Frank tends to his flowers while Barnaby makes insufferable jokes. He insists that Barnaby leave since his jokes are poisoning his flowers. Frank then asks Wally how he deals with Barnaby, ending the video.
POV- We are sitting in the tomato garden surrounded by clothespins of red, blue, yellow, orange. To his front right, there is either a pulverized or half eaten tomato and to his left is a blue clothespin facing upside down in the dirt. These clothespins oddly look like people.
5. “Answer”
Eddie is delivering mail when he trips and falls over. He gets back up and mentions that he ran into a few buildings today and played hopscotch that Julie drew earlier. He delivers the mail he has for Wally, and Barnaby begins to chase Eddie who is supposed to deliver his Kazoo collection today. Eddie runs away as Barnaby makes it to the front to Wally.
POV- We look to be staring at the ground with leaves on the left side and an odd-looking teethed stick in front of him. The ground seems to be covered in letters.
6. “Answer”
Frank is talking with Julie about how there are beetles eating up the tomatoes he’s grown. He wishes they would leave the tomatoes alone so Julie suggests that they put up a sign to tell them that they can look but not touch. But Frank insists the beetles can’t read. Julie believes that they can because they have big eyes, but Frank says that comment was rude, and they poke fun at each other with rude jokes. Then Frank suggests coming up with a joke to save his Tomatoes, saying that with the three of them, they could figure something out.
POV- We are pointed down in at the ground, similar to the position in video 4, where we are in the tomato patch. This time the clothespins are rearranged and where the blue clothespin was, are a few yellow tomatoes that have been half eaten and lightly covered in dirt. The red tomato on the right is covered in dirt too.
7. “Answer”
Julie is instructing Eddie on how to be a good associate of the “Breen Berry” company, with her as President Joyful. She is demanding that Eddie follow along at her pace, as it is difficult to run a business. Julie gets a phone call from someone and finds out that the company has gone broke, and she goes on a rampage. Eddie gets a call from Barnaby who’s looking for Wally and Eddie hands Wally the phone.
POV- We are looking at a piece of paper with a drawing of a pie and a drawing of Wally with the word “Breen” written at the bottom. There are crayons and some colored paper next to him.
8. “Answer”
A bell rings and Frank enters the post office where Eddie is freaking out about a beetle in the office. Apparently, it has been rummaging around, making a mess of things, so Eddie called Frank to catch it. Frank teases him and catches the beetle, taking it away.
POV- We are next to a pile of paper chains and paper, looking down at them.
9. “Answer”
Poppy is trying a new recipe out, one that involves fruit and seeds, with no gelatin. Frank comforts her as they talk about the food. Frank references that if the muffins were shaped into butterflies and had the seeds in them, that could’ve saved his garden from the previous episodes. Poppy is so worried she will burn or hurt herself in some way as she takes out the muffins and Frank reassures her, asking Wally to assure that everyone is safe and sound.
POV- We are looking down at a plate and an apple shaped game of tic-tac-toe. A tray of fruit and seed muffins slide onto the table, and later a handkerchief or towel is put down beside it.
10. “Answer”
Sally is rehearsing a play where Julie is princess turned queen and house is her knight in shining armor. Julie is supposed to be reading from the script but she keeps adding wacky lines declared as law, which in turn frustrates Sally. Sally lets it go and then emphasizes how difficult directing is to Wally.
POV- We are looking at a script procured by Sally, showing the lines that Julie is supposed to be reading.
11. “Answer”
Julie is making jokes to Barnaby and says that they are absolutely terrible. Julie continues to try and prove that they’re good, exclaiming that Frank thinks she is funny too. Barnaby continues to tease her, and Julie tries to get Wally to agree that she’s funny.
POV- We are looking at the leaves as the sun peers through them. It looks as if it were sunset.
12. “Answer”
Howdy is telling a story about his very extensive family members and Barnaby acts to be interested, trying to follow along in Howdy’s tale. Barnaby makes some jokes about the play-on-words and they both laugh. Then Howdy asks Wally how his drink is.
POV- We look down at a table with a sundae to our right and a spoon and a blue swirly straw to our left. The tablecloth is striped red and white.
13. “Answer”
Eddie delivers a bunch of packages to Howdy and finds he needs to deliver a bunch of bowling balls to Julie.
POV- We are looking at a bunch of multicolored apples.
14. "Answer"
Barnaby is making jokes to House who replies with squeaks and creeks. Barnaby then makes a joke that House doesn’t like and Barnaby tries to prove that he is funny. Then Barnaby notices that Wally has stopped painting and is acting weird.
POV- We are starring at a blob of white paint and a blob or red paint.

“Just So” makes Wally feel almost unwelcomed. Like Frank is a bit uncomfortable with his presence. There’s a lot of distortion throughout the audio. Barnaby and Wally seem more intrusive than anything else.

HEIRS OF WELCOME HOME AU FACTS ABOUT EDDIANK(English version)
1: Eddiank is Frank and Eddie's eldest son
2:Eddiank was originally going to be called Felix or joke
3: the name of eddiank has an explanation, at the birth of eddiank Eddie brought a letter with him, since he believed that he could not express in words his happiness at the birth of his son, the crazy thing is that as you know that Eddie Sometimes He even forgets his own name and mixes it with several when he writes letters, because on that occasion he linked Frank's name with his, and from that mixture the name Eddiank came out, and for some reason Frank liked the name, and that's how it turned out XD
4: Eddiank, like Frank, has the ability to turn his head completely, only unlike Frank, he does it when he is extremely happy or excited.
5: He is 12 years old
6: Eddiank's favorite type of coffee is coffee with milk, and he gets VERY imactive when he drinks it (He once tried it because there was a cup on the shelf, and he loved it, but his parents won't let him drink it, at first why do they say he's still too young for that)
7: Eddiank hates broccoli, in his words he says it tastes very strange
8: Eddiank's favorite fruit is strawberry
9: Eddiank usually addresses the other neighbors as 'uncle' or 'aunt', since in his words, everyone is and can be part of the family
10: Eddiank once gave a strawberry to Wally, and he confused it by saying it was an apple but smaller.
11: Eddiank's favorite colors are red and blue, this is because his combination makes purple, which is Eddie's favorite color.
12: Although Frank and Eddian share a certain taste for insects, Eddiank is afraid of large insects, especially centipedes and cockroaches.
13: Eddiank prefers small, harmless-looking insects like worms and caterpillars.
14: Eddiank gets easily confused by things, which makes it difficult for him to organize, but this does not mean that he is very good at it
15: He is someone VERY innocent
16: Eddiank used to secretly go out to Frank's garden to eat some of his vegetables, one time he ate Joe by accident, (this happened when he was about 5 years old) and to make up for it Eddiank renamed another of the tomatoes after Jony
17: Eddiank found it incredible that Julie talked to the plants, so much so that he also sometimes tends to talk to the plants, even though he can't hear them, he finds it pleasant and fun to imagine that they were talking to him and imagine what they were saying to him.
18: Frank insisted that his children read, something that Eddiank did not do much, since he tends to get very confused and overwhelmed by all the words that are seen in books, for this reason Frank gives Eddiank books with pictures
19: both eddiank and Fradie, unlike their father Frank, liked sweaters with turtlenecks or long necks, Eddiank says that they were comfortable on cold days, but he only wore them on those days since, either it made them warm, or his neck itched
20: When he was little (we're talking about 2-4 years old) Eddiank liked to eat the glue that Eddie had at the post office, especially the glitter one.
21: He is very protective of his family, especially his sister.
22: He has a strong relationship with Eddie, he considers him his favorite father, although he doesn't say it with Frank around so as not to make him feel bad.
23: He laughed at anyone's jokes, except Wallaby's, since he said they were very heavy and offensive.
24: Poppy used to do cooking activities for all the mini neighbors, Eddiank was the one who brought the ingredients, mostly bringing and insisting on making meals with strawberries
EXTRA DATA (although this type of data will not be shown much in the story, one reason for this is that eddiank and the other mini neighbors are still young 😔) Eddiank is pansexual
It is possible (or at least I have planned) that in the future, Eddiank will have a small relationship with Barny (the eldest son of Wally and Barnaby)

Aight, Welcome Home's been throwing me off my gourd and I'm trying not to post about it 'cause I'm still thinking that at some point this hyperfixation will pass, but man, it's a strong one, so I'm gonna gather some of my random thoughts here
If Home can move doors and shutters without any kind of mechanism, you could probably attach arms to two of their shutters and teach them sign language
What happens when you get too close? Fuck around and find out
If you designed/made a wedding dress for Barnaby (I've designed dresses for 3/9 of them and started designing Home's) he would wear it at some point during his wedding both for comedy and because he likes it and appreciates you making it
Honestly you could make any (appropriate) kind of dress for him and he'd wear it at least once
Teach Wally centripetal force via apple+drill :)
If the neighborhood fades to pitch-black darkness at night, its residents have never seen stars or the moon
Sally would absolutely fall in love with them and be sad that they were so far away
What if, after the stress of being trapped in the neighborhood is over and the puppets are free, some of them went straight into a monochrome goth phase
I can see Wally doing it
Julie would look so good in goth lolita
I feel like Frank would actually just go into earthy colors and get a brown peacoat
I very very badly want to ask Clown exactly how the neighborhood understands food but I also know they are very overwhelmed
That picture of Frank with the green jelly cake - Half a boiled egg?? Whole unpeeled banana?? Block of tofu or cheese?????
Barnaby's weird hotdogs??? Is that rice???
All the characters would be very confused to meet real animals and find that they don't talk
Wally in particular would take about as long as a human child to determine that animals seriously actually can't speak or understand language to the extent another human can
Barnaby would still absolutely hang out with real dogs though
Imagine giving Julie a little bubble popping fidget or just fidgets in general
She'd seriously become a collector
If you gave her 20,000Y (~150$) worth of 100Y coins and released her into a big gachapon place in Japan (like the one on Takeshita street in Harajuku) she'd be out of your hair for a while
Has anyone thought about how Howdy is a tree caterpillar and Poppy is a literal bird and birds usually eat caterpillars
What does Howdy use his antennae for
Are they soft and fuzzy like most caterpillar antennae
Pop all your joints, be the crunchiest human right in front of them, observe the horror
I feel like we've been ignoring this fact but if they've all just been existing since the show first aired, they're all around 50 years old
If theories are correct and some of them had lives in the real world before then, they could be old enough to be my peepaws and meemaws
I'm deadass gonna keep ignoring that tho-
Tattoos????
Frank is super straight-laced but I really think he'd enjoy getting a colorful butterfly tattoo in a usually-not-visible spot like his shoulder or torso
It would be his little spot of color with all the associated sentimental value
Wally is often drawn in fan art with blood on him, but, dude, getting blood out of cloth is difficult
If he's truly a fuzzy cloth puppet and there's no magic involved, he may not have ever encountered human blood (though Clown did mention that it smells like rotting meat at night) but it would be absolutely vital that none gets on him
Imagine the dynamic if he's out here a'murderin' and has to absolutely book it to a water source if he gets blood on him
Julie+Frank+Minecraft. You will never find a better group.
I'll stop there for now but ya'll are probably gonna get another one of these when I remember others and they pile up again

This is a bit silly, but I made sort of a Welcome Home TMA AU- I don’t have much of a plot, but I have the alignments!
Wally- The Eye! Pretty self explanatory lol- always watching, imagery in which there are too many eyes (TM), and (depending on how you interpret the secret tapes) he’s keeping quite the eye on the neighborhood!
Frank- The Web! I’m a bit crazy about the idea that Frank is working against Wally, and the level of low-key and sneaky he would have to be to succeed in this is very web-coded to me! It also fits with Frank’s canon need for control over his life and obsession with rules and routines, and it keeps his connection with bugs! I was imagining that the Corruption almost got him, but he had to make a deal with the web under dire circumstances
Howdy- The Corruption! I initially just thought about him being a literal bug, Corruption!Howdy also makes me think of the fact that he sprouted from an (implied to be rotting?) apple core- like the holes and being eaten through by caterpillars and rot and stuff!
Barnaby- The Stranger! Called a clown both by himself and Frank, he certainly has the clown aesthetic! He also just is generally performative and relates to the circus! Plus, in the “Look! Wally exclaimed. I made a dog!” picture, the idea that he’s being ‘created’ rather than born and made as a puppet! The idea of being created from something that is very not human is stranger-coded
Julie- The Spiral! Her games are all about chaos and she generally doesn’t care about rules, guidelines, or even obeying the laws of nature! We also have the idea of her being a “rainbow monster” tied with the fact that some Spiral avatars are considered monsters and are often a wild array of colors! Makes me think about the slinky she’s shown playing with!
Poppy- The End! This is mostly because End avatars like Oliver Banks are generally pretty helpful, and the line “this moment feels exactly like the moment you are going to die.” Poppy is really anxious and paranoid, and sort of begins to spiral waiting for a disaster that she’ll never see coming
Sally- Sally is a bit complicated- I imagined she was born Desolation (A literal star made out of fire, her backstory is literally satan’s backstory so she has ties to religion) , but balanced it out by becoming a Stranger by choice!
Eddie- Eddie was super hard for me to figure out, but I eventually decided on the Buried! There’s a lot of imagery of him carrying heavy things, and the storybook centered around him involves him just lifting neighbors left and right lol- but I’ve also seen the buried (in fan works) tied to the pressure placed on someone by expectations and duties, and Eddie is. A people pleaser.
EXTRA:
Home- The Web! Ties to architecture, often depicted controlling or manipulating Wally by the fandom! Also, the goop under Home in the new update almost looks like a spiderweb towards the back! Also puppetry of course lol
Thank you for listening to my mad ramblings <3

Wallace starts painting
The dream with the window again. <please Wally this isn’t you! You have to remember!> the house creaked and groaned.
Wally wasn’t sure what he had to remember or what this place was. But it smelled of apples and tasted like blood. He looked down at his hands and they felt right, more than they ever had before. They were felt, yellow, and had one less finger each. But they felt right. He walked away from the window and let his feet carry him. His steps took him to a canvas and a paint set.
Wallace awoke feeling more tired than he had when he went to sleep. He looked at the window and saw that it was still dark. He let out a gentle groan as he stood and went to the mirror in the bathroom. He flicked on the light after a moment of confusion.
His reflection didn’t look right. Even as everything looked as it was meant to. His pale skin paler than normal, his hands with all five fingers, and his messy dyed hair. His pupils were shrunken to pinpricks.
“Nothing is wrong.” He whispered only to himself.
He eyed the clock on the wall. 4:30. He would need to leave in a few hours. He wouldn’t likely be able to fall asleep again. He felt a strong urge to do something, but he didn’t know what. Maybe something with paint, he thought.
He began to hum a soft lullaby as he grabbed the bright red apple, he had purchased from Howdie’s. He sat in silence as he watched the sunrise. He left the apartment with a soft smile and a strange sense of peace.
As he left he saw Barnaby once more in the dog costume packing up the van full of various party supplies and the picture of his character on the side.
“Hello Barnaby.”
“Oh, hey Wallace, you’re up earlier than normal.”
“So are you.”
“Just getting all my supplies together for today’s event. I’ve been hired for a street fair. What about you what’s got up so early?” Barnaby asked scratching the red stubble on his chin.
“Couldn’t sleep, Had a weird dream. Do you want any help with that?” Wallace asks pointing at the large helium tank still sitting on the side of the building.
“You too huh. And nah, I got it covered.”
Wallace nods and begins to walk away.
“Hey where you off to anyway.”
“I was thinking of going to Howdie’s to see if he has any paint supplies or if I would have to get them from a local crafts store.”
“You sure like buying local, don’t you?”
“I like supporting our neighborhood.”
“Well then then let me give you a ride neighbor.”
Wallace pauses, he and Barnaby were good friends, but it would most certainly be imposing.
“Are you certain?”
“Yeah, it’s on the way anyway.”
<You can trust him, Wally. Barnaby is a good dog.> Wallace can hear almost imperceptibly.
He pauses as he is about to get in his friend’s van. He shook his head the clear the odd not voice out and got in. After all Barnaby may be allergic to chocolate and dress up like a dog but he most certainly wasn’t a dog. He was tempted to berate the strange not voice about calling his friend a dog.
The ride was spent in idle chatter between friends about everything and nothing. Wallace waves goodbye and good luck to his friend before entering the small grocery store.
“Hello Howard.” Wallace greets the storekeeper.
“Oh Wallace, I told you to call me Howdie. Did you order anything by chance?” The darker skinned store owner told him.
“No, I didn’t though I was wondering if you had any painting supplies I could purchase?” Wallace asked.
“Sorry, but no. Though I can give you that package addressed to you.”
“But I didn’t order it.”
“Well somebody ordered it for you because the package was addressed to your apartment, but Eddie didn’t feel comfortable leaving a large package out to be stolen and you’re the only Wallace Dearling in the whole neighborhood.”
“But-”
“Wallace just take it. It’s meant for you after all.” Howard scolded before giving Wallace a meaningful look.
Wallace felt and abashed apprehension as Howard Handed him the rather large and somewhat heavy package. The only thing on the return address was Home, Neighborhood by all rights the package shouldn’t have even been able to ship. The address though was indeed for his apartment and under his name. He smiled at Howard. He found himself doing that a lot more, smiling.
“Thank you, Howard.”
The man smiled back as Wallace put a large bushel of red delicious on the counter.
“Could I get these as well.”
“Of course.”
Wallace left the store with a large bushel of apples and a mysterious package. When Wallace returned to his small New York apartment. Wallace frowned as he remembered that today was meant to be his day off and wondered why he had felt the urge to leave. He shrugged and took the strange package to his sofa and began to open it. He gasped in surprise. He most definitely didn’t order this.
It was an old well-worn easel, several blank canvases, and a massive assortment of what appeared to be quality paints, pastels, and brushes. He felt almost overwhelmed.
He set up the canvas and before he even realized what he was doing he was already painting the strokes soft and uncertain. But soon an image formed much like when he worked on a design on a computer. It was strangely soothing and felt right.

Shy cutie
Pairing: Wally Darling x Julie's Sibling!Gender neutral Reader
Illustrated Au, picture by @qep0ermint
Tumblr media
Wally has always had this little crush on you, who could blame him you were adorable! Shy but not to the point you didn't socialize, calm and rather charming. You were basically the opposite of your older sister Julie but that just made Wally see you as a more loveble character. He wanted to ask you out, even asked Barnaby for advice but as soon as Julie found out... Well she wasn't happy.
"Wally, you know I care about you but stay away from my younger sibling!," Was all Julie had exclaimed for Wally to be somewhat confused and sad. If Julie didn't approve, what was he supposed to do? He asked Sally for advice and all she said was that it could be great plot for a play but other than that she didn't know how to help him.
Wally felt hopeless, well he did until Y/n pulled him aside to ask him out on a date shyly while holding an apple. It had carved a heart in it which made Wally melt at the cute action and he obviously said yes, well he was until Julie interrupted his answer.
"Noo, that's my sibling! Don't take them away from meee!," Said Julie in a almost childish complain. Y/n only chuckled while hugging Julie assuring her that they would split their time within her and Wally which was honestly all it took to get her off their case.
Y/n smiled while watching her walk away and walked closer to Wally, placing a soft kiss in Wally's cheek while blushing, Wally laughed softly before cupping their cheeks with his hands to place a soft kiss in their forehead while muttering the words 'cute', Y/n was rendered speechless because of that.
Y/n and Wally had a wonderful first date which ended with Wally kissing, in a soft way, Y/n's cheek which left them a blushing mess while three hearts danced around, in a circle, on the top of their head which made Wally chuckle while looking at Y/n recover and enter their house with a dopey smile before bidding Wally goodbye. He started to walk away when he heard a door open and when he turned around he felt Y/n's lips on his, kissing him in a shy and soft way before they rushed back inside their house saying 'Goodnight!'. Wally walked home with a dopey smile on his face while slightly touching his lips, he could help but think 'Silly, Silly' when he entered Home.
I hope you like it Vi! Tell me if you want some headcanons for this or a second part! (@ghosteezofvispast)

Grease smudge
Pairing: Tall!Wally Darling x Engineer!Male reader
Part 1 and Part 2
Tall Wally/Illustrated Au, finally found a picture that fitted this last part anywho picture done by @infohazardouz
Tumblr media
Wally has always being the smooth talker and had that charming smile; he was quite the sight for sore eyes too. Meanwhile M/n has always been a little rough around the edges and yet he could take anyone's breath away with a big yet soft smile and the resident darling of the neighborhood was no exception.
What Wally did with confidence, M/n had with suspicion because why would someone like Wally even take an interest in someone as himself? Nonetheless he never really asked this question out loud afraid he misinterpreted what he had with Wally as something romantic and Wally, well he didn't know how to ask M/n out in a date because he has never went on a date himself.
M/n was finishing with an engine of a car when he saw Wally sitting in the front seat with a black leather jacket and a lollipop in his lips while the light hit all the right angles. M/n saw that Wally's tongue was blue which let him know Wally was had a blueberry flavor from his jar of lollipops meanwhile he himself had a red apple flavored one resting in his lips.
"What are you doing here Darling?," Asked M/n while pulling the lollipop from his mouth and holding it in his hand while Wally repeated the action before walking in front of M/n, towering over him in a noticeable way which made M/n shy in embarrassment. Wally smiled taking from M/n's hand his lollipop and placing it in his mouth while he put his own in M/n's mouth gaining a cherry red blush in M/n's cheeks.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow so we can go on a date so be ready around this time," said Wally before walking away with a smile knowing that his tongue was purple because of the lollipop and so was M/n's.
"Guess he really didn't need help from Barnaby after all"
This is the last part since this is a trilogy, hope you liked it!

The past can hurt part 3
Pairing: Wally Darling x Writer!Male reader
New Neighbor Masterlist
Illustrated Au, picture is not mine. Hey peeps, I want to apologize for taking so long to update since studies and work have been crazy these couple of months (?) but nonetheless a new part has come!
Tumblr media
Memories flooded Wally's head as he looks up at Frank, Wally was mad and he felt violent which he had never experienced before.
"What the duck happened in 1974 Frank?” Wally asked again while poison slithered with each word, Frank looked down in shame before sighting.
"Home killed him Wally... Home killed M/n and made Barnaby forget about him" Frank said before starting to cough, with each cough Frank's grey skin turned into a lighter shade until Frank fell on the ground, dead and void of life, Wally could only stare at Frank's now completely black eyes and the black liquid going down Frank's chin with indifference.
Wally ran a hand through his messy, long blue hair before seeing a gas tank and a match which made Wally smile, "Perfect" Wally uttered before grabbing it and looking towards the neighborhood with a dark smile.
"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day in the neighborhood... Would you be mine?Could you be mine?" Wally hum while walking out of Frank's house while dragging the gas tank but with each step a trail of gas painted the sidewalk and plants.
"It's a neighborly day in this beauty wood, a neighborly day for a beauty... Would you be mine?Could you be mine? I have always wanted to have a neighbor, just like you I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you" Wally kept singing softly while having a bit of a skip in his step while he lets the gas ran it's way down the streets, down the trees of the forest, down the sidewalk and down the neighborhood.
"So let's make the most of this beautiful day since we're together, we might as well... say would you be mine, could you be mine? Won't you be my neighbor? Won't you, please? Won't you, please?Plēæßę won’t you be my ńęīghbœr?" Wally sang happily when he reached Home and stood in front of it. Wally looked straight at Home with a glare and a dark smile and then Wally let the leftovers gas fall down the walls, door, garden and flowers around Home. Wally turned around and looked at the neighborhood one last time before sighting since it looked peaceful... Perfect
Wally looked at Home again before lightning up the match and carelessly throwing it in the ground which made Home be set on fire and a trail of fire consume the rest of the neighborhood. Wally didn't mind the screams or the cries of help as he walked towards his apple tree with a satisfied smile as he watched the neighborhood burn up in flames.
"And so... the love will fade into ash because of Home's greedy rule and the last man standing will have no choice but to obey" were the words flying around in the air. The last words that M/n wrote as a warning, not to Wally but to everyone when his fury fell down on them
So! We are missing one more chapter for this series to be over and I must say that this one was kinda dark but really fun to write so I hoped you enjoyed!
