After kh3 he tries to get into it because aqua likes to bake as stress relief but he is not good at it however he CAN!!! make a KILLER kebab. because he just piles everything he likes to bbq on a stick

21/22. Can you believe I’ve written him like once? Unbelievable. He’s just hard to do for me I think. I like it when ppl make Terra the lets go lesbians let’s go guy I love it when he’s just a woodworker he’s in a trade of some kind and lesbians just love the guy. It’s a trope I’ve seen like three times and every time it’s so funny to me. Who would have guessed. the big gentle himbo. But I also don’t like it when fics make him Too Mean?? You know? This is a problem with both Terra and Aqua I think people assume they’re older and therefore stricter and more entrenched in master eraqus’ teachings and completely unwilling to go near the idea of accepting darkness and while I don’t think that interpretation is wrong or not easily supported, it just feels… too harsh… like they didn’t also go through a big darkness revelation and have to deal with it all by themselves and maybe they wouldn’t find Riku to be comforting, if not a major relief. idk. You can make them as complex as you want (personally I have thoughts about how unintentionally bad they are at emotions and communication ALL THE TIME) but i get sad if they’re one dimensionally mean :( I get it you want a bad guy in your vanitas redemption. But cmon :(

25. I (thinking) I basically watched kh backwards. Sort of. So my first impression was actually,, Terra giving his friends a big hug and crying!! So I always knew he was a sweet boy. Now he is a complex sweet boy who made bad decisions and his whole arc can be taken with different readings beyond even the effects of manipulation into cycles of power and relapse or su(i am dragged offstage by a comically long cane) HEY

Slight Soriku Analysis and Riku and Sora Analysis:

My thoughts don't make too much sense and I'm rambling with Soriku mentioned and also just Riku and Sora (by themselves) as well and I'm just rambling my thoughts aloud. There's some proofreading, but sorry if some stuff is off and looks wrong or something :(.

“It won’t be easy, but I hope you’ll remain the happy and cheerful Sora I know.”

This letter and moment of Kairi is really sweet. I really do enjoy seeing her admit that she wanted to become a keyblade wielder, make friends with Lea, and learn that she CAN do something on her own. She’s learning and I really like that improvement of her character (since she couldn’t do much before-).

The only thing I find so sad about this scene is the line I quoted above. She wants him to remain the happy and cheerful Sora she knows, but what about the other parts she doesn’t know? The parts that maybe even Riku doesn’t know or doesn’t recognize?

What about the Sora that is sad because of all the hurt he carries around? What about a Sora that is angry because of others actions towards him or others? What about the Sora that is lost because of so many things happening all at once around him? And what about the Sora that isn’t all cheerful? I’m just always thinking about Sora’s different sides as a person and how I wish people got to see them.

I think about this a lot. Not just the part of him listening to only Riku, but the part of Donald and Goofy not really picking up the cues of Sora being upset or slightly angry. They’re his close friends and do care for him, but they seem to lack on the actually treating him like a person and not a child part. They push him out of the way when they talk to the king, Donald berates him on simple things like when he says, “Plain old Sora,” whenever he messes up or slips up, or telling Sora to take things seriously even if he is taking them seriously, and they just seem so overbearing in a way.

But Riku?? Riku is a lot more supportive. I take a look at Riku and Sora from KH 1 (since I’ve played to the end battles and such) to now, and I see a lot of development between the two. Now that is clearly obvious, but I really like to look at the two together.

Riku was one of the bad guys in KH 1. He betrayed Sora, I believe he used Kairi against Sora, he gave into darkness, tried to hurt Sora multiple times, hurt others for his own gain (I think), and he just did a lot of terrible actions. However, after all that, I believe he began to get better. In CoM (which I think is next after KH 1?), I believe Riku was looking for Sora, right? He was looking for him just like Sora was looking for Riku. He was searching because he needed to see him again, but he found out that he was too late.

I believe near the end we learn that Riku was simply…too late to see his best friend. When he did, Sora was put into the pod to have his memories restored (I believe most of them were? I haven’t played CoM :(). Riku then decided to help Sora wake up by finding Roxas and finding Xion (I believe he found Xion? I could be incorrect so ignore this part of the rant if this is wrong). He ended up fighting Roxas and losing (once again I cannot remember so sorry), so he gave into the darkness again. But this time it wasn’t for his own gain, it was for Sora. He no longer seemed to focus on himself or whatever he wanted, he focused on saving Sora. That’s a heck of a jump in character, but it’s so good.

Finally, we get to KH 2, and that’s where we see Riku and Sora development. This game is basically Sora helping others while looking for Riku at any given moment and!! We see their bond grow A LOT. Literally! In Mulan’s world, Sora knows it’s Riku who he is fighting and believes Riku is the one following him. At one point, Xigbar shows up, so, to me, it is unclear whether it was truly Xigbar that followed him (other than the one time where he actually fought Riku on the mountain) or Riku. But it doesn’t matter. We see Sora looking everywhere for Riku, and seeing him use their connection to do it! It isn’t shown too much here, but the moment when Sora finds Riku (thanks to Kairi as well), I think this is the moment that Sora truly stopped hiding his emotions.

Sora actually seems to be emotionally responsive to romantically involved scenes (in a way) or at least seeing two people who are very close be happy. Once again mentioning Mulan, when she and Shang get permission to work together, they basically hug and look at each other with such a wholesome look. Sora is watching and he actually begins to cry. He begins to CRY. It’s all of a sudden and he’s embarrassed and tries to hide it. Donald and Goofy still come over and kinda tease him about, which I think also messes with Sora’s confidence and such.

AND THEN!! When he finds Riku, he also breaks down, but this time it’s different. This isn’t reaction to a scene of two others, this is him in that kind of moment. He finally gets to see Riku again after so long and he’s just…so happy. Sure it may not be romantic, but it’s clear that he and Riku’s bond is very deep because of the reaction. He saw Kairi and gave her a hug and seemed happy, but the reunion between Sora and Riku was so much bigger and an attention grabber to me even before I saw them romantically together. Then we get to the fight with Xemnas, and we literally see Riku fight to protect Sora. They’re both fighting together, but we see Riku actually push Sora out of the way and take a stab in the side that was meant to possibly kill Sora. ITS JUST!! SO MUCH!! Later, Sora carries Riku to safety and is very uplifting to him. He cares deeply for him, just like Riku cares deeply for Sora.

THENN!! DDD LITERALLY HAPPENS!! Do I even need to explain? The entire game is all about them looking for each other and wanting to be together. LITERALLY! Upon waking up in Traverse Town, Sora calls out for Riku because he wants to be with him, and Riku does the same whenever he wakes up in Traverse Town. He looks for Sora and follows Joshua without a second thought only because he mentioned Sora. They both just want to be together and it shows some more development. Riku from KH 2 was distant and nervous, but he was open on the Dark Shore. He admitted how he felt towards Sora before KH 1 (not entirely but he admitted some of his feelings) and actually laughed with him. They were comfortable again, despite the terrible circumstances. Then, in DDD we see their connection in true form.

Sora is lost in the Deep Abyss because of trickery and being used, but Riku was able to save him. He followed him down and freed him from what was trapping him, and it was all mainly because of their connection. We see them both care for each other in new and open ways and its actually shown to us. We're seeing more to them together while also individually.

DDD was very soriku, but it wasn't entirely soriku. Near the end, we see Sora trapped in a nightmare that contained Kairi and Riku walking away from him. He was so excited to see them, but they just had fake smiles on their faces and walked away from him, as if he didn't exist. Then, they turned into Aqua and Terra and called him, "Ven." This confused Sora and only made him chase after Kairi and Riku more, furthering himself into the nightmare. I think this part of the game is showing Sora's desire to be with everyone again and to be safe, and showing how his nightmares and fears are literally surrounded by him losing his friends. He loses people he cares for and that's his biggest fear, or at least it's in his nightmares.

For Riku, we see him become confident in his ability and believe he is worthy for the Keyblade again (he smiles when he notices he actually summons the keyblade on Sora's heart station; not Soul Eater) and realize how important Sora is to him. He smiles whenever he talks about Sora, thinks about Sora, and even smiles when he realizes that he finally has the strength to protect what matters. I think the scene after he beats Ansem (when he says "to protect what matters," line) is when he truly realizes how much he cares for Sora and possibly that he loves him.

This is important because in KH 1, we see Riku saying he doesn't care about Sora at all several times, but now we see him confident in his feelings and in his abilities. Sora's side is also important because throughout each game, he says how his friends are always by his side and how they are his power, but this moment shows the fear of being abandoned and watching them leave him. The game shows the opposite of who they were or at least of what they have shown throughout the games at some point.

And now KH 3 is, to me, showing more about Sora's feelings. We see him become more vulnerable to people's comments, we see more people rely on him, and we see Sora wanting to do things on his own. It's really implied everywhere. We go to Twilight Town and Little Chef tries to control him, and we see that he's reallly uncomfortable with the idea. I bet it is uncomfortable to be controlled by a rat, but still, his insistence on doing it himself is common. He says he can take each villains taunting, he can handle his keyblade, he can save Aqua, he can save Riku, and can save other worlds. He seems to be piling a lot on himself and it just is sad :(.

And then, near the end, we see Sora break down again when he realizes everyone is gone. Riku is still with him, but his emotions just cloud around him and he can barely take everything in. He just screams and falls to his knees and looks up at Riku as his tears fall.

And I want to refer back to picture I added with the tags about how Riku is the one Sora listens to, and I agree that...yeah. It's mainly because Riku is kinda the only one to look at him as Sora and not as a savior or someone who needs to be a hero. He doesn't demean Sora in any way, but instead comforts him and reminds him that his journey is just as important. He doesn't bicker, tease, or do anything other than try to calm him down and realize that he's doing good. I'm near that scene now and I just LOVE it alright??? The way Sora looks up at Riku??? And the way Riku looks down at Sora and speaks to him??? And in the Keyblade Graveyard, he does the same. In a final action, he gives his life to try and protect Sora and even said HE BELIEVES IN HIM!!!

ITS JUST!! So soft guys. I love the development between the two in all of these games and the development of the boys themselves.

But now, all I wish for is for Sora to be developed further. I want to learn about his sadness in more detail, Anti-Sora, if darkness still has some sort of hold on him, learn about his memory problems (I believe some of his still aren't correct? Or at least he doesn't remember them properly? I could be wrong-), and learn about everything he holds inside himself! That break down in KH 3 always stays on my mind and the way he just looks in awe and...emotion when he sees Riku give himself up to protect him. He just....has so much going on inside him and I REALLY want it to be explored more in depth and for other characters to see it as well.

I mean, other characters other than Riku lol.

Anyways, this made no sense and I'm going off from what I remember and my brain may be a little slow and not understand many plot points correctly. It's just how I see things at some points, and if you want to correct me on any points that I mentioned that I could've gotten wrong, please tell me! I'm always excited to learn a little more about the lore of KH and actually know when I'm right or wrong. And please don't hate! This isn't meant to hate on any ship or any character in any way. If it came off like that, then I'm very sorry, but I hope you just understand that this is my thoughts that literally have rambled since that ONE scene of Kairi writing a letter lol. I've had KH 3 on pause since then-

do you have any kingdom hearts opinions you’d consider controversial. I am curious. Interested to hear your twisted thoughts

I have quite a few random kh thoughts that don't line up with this or that popular fandom opinion, so here they are:

-KH1 did the best with its disney worlds overall, and it's a shame that as the games go on they seem to be focusing less on integrating the disney worlds with the main story like they did in the original. this is not childhood nostalgia talking bc I played KH1 for the first time like 4 years ago.

-I am not nor have I ever been particularly invested in Kairi. She's important to Sora for sure, but I kinda felt bored whenever the plot stuck to her for too long because she barely has like a handful of canon lines in the series and they're all kinda meh

-Aqua's story in BBS is FINE I don't know why so many people complain about it being repetitive. It's only repetitive because you play the same game 3 times by design.

-jury's out about Sora's orientation but I'm pretty convinced Riku is gay. I don't care if people don't headcanon him like that or if they ship him with a girl or whatever, not my business, but I do think there's enough canon evidence for it to be very likely he's gay on purpose and it's fun to think of him like that anyway

-Xion's death didn't honestly make me feel that emotional (NOT because it isn't well done, I'm just a freak ig) but I kinda was just like "cool, spicy" when Xion died and it took a while for me to realize ppl actually got sad when they watched it

-Radiant Garden was way cooler as Hollow Bastion

-Kingdom Hearts desperately needs to introduce more female characters that aren't sweet and nice. please please please make the next one just unabashedly angry or evil or rowdy or sarcastic or pathetic just for fucks sake I want to see a girl who eats glass and drinks blood like Vanitas. Girl Axel when. Girl Xigbar WHEN. GIRL DEMYX WHEN. Larxene can't be the only weird girl rep forever!!!!!!

-traverse in trance is a better rendition of the travtown theme than the original

-the destiny islands are kinda boring. I think they really need to give it the twilight town KH2 treatment and let us wander around an actual TOWN to make it seem less like a pile of rocks and sand in the middle of the ocean that literally everything happens in for no reason

-I am having such a hard time getting through the KH mobile games fr I keep getting too bored to keep watching the cutscenes and I think it was a pretty shitty way to get across important story details. the art style is mid to even insultingly babyish at times, and even though there are a lot of plot points and storylines that are interesting to hear about, I'm fucking PISSED that the experience of the game was limited to MOBILE GACHA GAMING instead of being made into an actual KH spinoff like recoded or some bull. why tf should I have mandatory 20-hour movies to watch on YOUTUBE to enjoy a VIDEO GAME SERIES. I would care wayyyyyy more about what was going on if I could play the fucking game and if the game was also not A MOBILE GACHA GAME....

Okay, it's Aqua, I really love Aqua, her story just gets me and she's so sweet and strong.

But no I really do love most of the characters, and I haven't really had enough time to rank how much I love them all, but I know like, Riku's up there for me too bc Riku, buddy, what an arc. I was also surprised by how much I loved Sora bc it's usually hit or miss for me with protagonists, but Sora's just so...different from the typical protagonist.

I was not immune to Axel/Lea either, he gets the exact character arc that I love basically every time. I love Kairi out of spite for how little writing she gets, but I also love Namine and Xion a lot. Roxas too. And Terra and Ven, even though the more I learn about Ven the more I'm like buddy what the fresh heck is going on in your life.

I know you haven't seen a lot of the Union Cross stuff, but if you do I'm very partial to all the Union leaders (but esp. Ava, Invi, Gula from the first gen, and literally all the second gen of Ephemer, Skuld, Brain (though rip for that name), L...Lauriam or however the fuck his name is spelled, and I did like Strelitzia despite getting the Kairi treatment of 20 lines of dialogue and then getting murdered, rip girl you could have had everything).

Hell, I don't even particularly hate any of the antagonists, bc even though I'd drop several of them off a cliff I think their writing is really interesting. I joke about wanting to fight every old man who isn't Merlin, and I stand by that a bit, but I'm also really enjoying Young Eraqus in Dark Road so far, even though I still think he makes some Life Decisions at dad-age.

So yeah, I love....lots and lots and lots of characters. I dunno if it's just that I enjoyed the writing that much or if I just see a character and I'm like holy shit I love you, but KH has so many good characters.

But if I'm only allowed to choose one then Aqua bc Aqua, my girl, love of my life and light of my heart, she's wonderful.

hii your kingdom hearts posting is getting to me is kingdom hearts any good?? idk anything abt it other than theres disney characters, keyblades, theres a lot of games and you play them in a weird order, and my friend cloud strife is there. the disney characters are really throwing me off bc everything i see abt the original kh characters looks good and also i love my friend cloud but is it worth getting into? or is it one of those things thats good bc youre already into it and u love it? i ❤️ piracy and have a hacked 3ds so the price of so many games is not an issue. u do not have to answer this ofc! but i thought it was worth asking nc the art u are reblogging is intriguing to me

my short answer is, i think its good! definition of good here being it was really fun to get into. i havent personally actually played any of the games if you're planning to play them tho- all of them are action rpgs, the first has like a certain amount of platforming and also bad camera controls that are just kind of a given considering its age. if you enjoy those types of games tho, its still very fun! holds up well. most of them are first and foremost playstation games except for 358/2 Days, which was a ds game (it hasnt had a remake like some of the other games, which is sad bc it has some of the best story and the cutscenes by themselves miss A Lot, but the gameplay itself is uh. Rough)

first, look up "kingdom hearts 1 opening"

if you think that looks sick as hell, i would honestly try out the first game and see how you feel about it afterwards! watching someone play that was what got me interested in digging into the entire thing and it is the first game so its a naturally good introduction with none of the weight of all the stuff that gets added over the years to the Lore. if you like 1 you can either play them in release order or chronological order and both would work probably. except the mobile game kh union x stuff i wouldnt touch that until you go through everything prior to kh3 even if its chronologically the first

extremely basic summary: a young boy, sora, lives on a group of islands called destiny islands with his best friends, riku and kairi, and they dream of exploring outside their small home. sora and all his friends are taken from the island and their world by the forces of darkness and are swept into a grand battle of light and dark. he teams up with donald and goofy from Disney(tm) and they fight monsters born from the darkness in people's hearts. sora has a blade that's a key bc he unlocks doors between worlds and hearts and stuff. rinse and repeat with a new iteration on the enemies you're facing and the worlds you visit

asides from the disney, the basic plot there is very normal jrpg fare! whats special about it to me is in the specifics, its visuals (i think despite not liking disney as a company the existence of these differing tones and visual styles is what Makes kh what it is), the non disney world and monster designs, the weirdness of a lot of the scenes and writing, and its complete sincerity in statements that are inherently very corny. while the themes shift and compound, the primary theme is connections between people and how those make up who you are and your heart.

you may have heard the story is confusing. honestly, i think this is mostly hyperbole and it makes as much sense as it really needs to. there are bits of lore that are definitely confusing but the games explain everything in such a way that the concepts arent confusing, they just sound weird when taken out of context. not that a lot of it isnt really silly and weird LMAO just that its easy enough to follow and grasp what its going for

re: the disney sections (like the actual worlds): theyre at best like. inoffensive filler i guess LOL. you can really see disney not giving a shit about their part in kingdom hearts the later it goes, with the kh3 disney worlds being like. sure lets put the entirety of frozen's "let it go" in who gives a fuck. however this was after pixar was bought out by disney, and the people working on the pixar stuff that was subsequently added to kh3 definitely put more thought into them as far as tying it in thematically to the rest. still not majorly important tho asides from a couple plot relevant scenes.

you will never escape the Big disney characters tho lol. mickey mouse will Always be there after kh1, as well as donald and goofy who are literally the main character's party members. against my better judgement i do enjoy donald and goofy in kh, and find them generally fun characters despite having limited personal nostalgia about them! they're fine to have around.

if u want to see cloud strife our friend, i will say he isnt there a lot and he's in full sulky guy mode, tho a Lot of final fantasy characters are included until kh3 where i guess they decided they were going to stop putting ff characters in for whatever reason. sephiroth is a major secret boss fight in both 1 and 2. yuffie, aerith, cid, and leon are there immediately. tifa is in 2. barret has never shown up despite all the other ff7 main characters which is a little. raises eyebrow. but whatever

What were your thoughts on the ending to kingdom hearts 3? Were you satisfied with it, or were you expecting more? Well you can't really expect anything with the series but still😅 and also do you follow the plot on the kingdom hearts app with the unions and stuff? I hear that's getting an update soon. It ties into the main kh game from what I can tell, it's just sometimes hard to follow it all sometimes cause it's so much plot going on.

if you're talking abt KHUX then the whole story was finished and the app was terminated last year and it broke me entirely bc I forgot to befriend all the ppl I met in the guild BUT if you're talking abt Dark Road then I think we're getting an update soon yeah!

I've been into KH since I was like super young so honestly, at this point the confusion and frustration of trying to piece everything together is part of the fun bc we all know this shit isnt gonna end, so might as well enjoy the ride lmfaooo like its all super ridiculous in retrospect but I'm STILL gonna get the shivers during Donald's zettaflare moment or tear up everytime I see one of the openings

as for the ending of KH3 well I duNNO, IM SUPER CONFLICTED

cause obviously I love that everyone's happy chilling being friends, that a lot of loose ends were finally tied up and a lot of connections were made (scala ad caelum being daybreak town made me SHIT like THAT WAS SO GOOD) or that some mysteries were revealed or are close to being revealed, it had REALLY good scenes for some characters like Terra showing tf up and promising to set things right or Ansem SoD and Xemnas' deaths being SO FUCKING. EMOTIONAL. REALLY LIKE THOSE TWO ARE THE MOST MEMORABLE SCENES FOR ME, it actually felt more satisfying to say goodbye to Ansem SoD and watch Riku talk to him than seeing Xehanort fuck off into heaven with Eraqus and ofc, the sexiest reveal of the entire saga with Luxu/Xigbar

but then I hated that a big chunk of the actual plot was hidden behind a DLC bc I insist that Re:Mind feels like it shouldve all been part of the base game. that a lot of the sass and snark some characters actually had was just toned tf down to the point where they felt like generic nice NPCs bc "they cant be sassy, theyre good anime guys!" - which some can argue that it's the characters growing up and becoming more mature but to me it doesn't feel like that in the slightest?? The main event of the entire game and ending, defeating Xehanort, just felt rlly fast and eh to me, it had this vibe of Nomura being tired of Xehanort's arc want wanting to get it over with fast bc he realized he could just insert Versus XIII into KH. Kairi is still just kinda there bonding with literally ANYONE but Sora unless its convenient so that one super cool battle with her and Sora vs Xehanort didn't hit as hard imo

so tl:dr : it was fun and like everything in the entire franchise, it could've been better!

What the hell, miscellaneous KH HCs!

Destiny Islands: I like to think that the islands are actually a lot more numerous and bigger than what we see. With a unique culture based on various tropical/island cultures. Big Four being; Japan (specifically Okinawa tho) the Philippines, Hawaii, and the costal regions of Mexico and El Salvador/central america (bc you know me, I gotta inject some latine energy anywhere I can. But also as an excuse to have Sora drink Agua de Jamaica), with bigger islands and a buncha smaller ones :)!

On that note, I'm pretty sure I saw some fishing spears in Sora's room? It would be cute if he was learning to fish on his own or already knew before kh1. Also bc Ive got family members who fish right out of the river with rolled up pants and a net, so again, it would be neat if he fishes outside of the standard pole. (Also let's me think he could totally pick up a spear if pushed lol)

On that. Sora def likes seafood... C'mon... It's about the ahi katsus, the camarones a la diabla, refresca Ensalada, plantains, sugar cane juice, coconut crab and soba noodles, and purple yams...

I also like to hc that Keyblades help translate languages between most worlds, I say most bc... Sitch is there? And some others I'm probably not aware of. Anyways Riku, Sora, and Kairi speaking in their own language that's Japanese mixed with some other of the island languages on their own pls. The heart hotel can totally either also know it, pieces of it, or learn it very quickly. My bet is that Ventus and Xion get it instantly while Vanitas and Roxas take a hot minute with it.

Think it would be cute if they also had some more traditional dress or clothing motifs in their childhood photos. Obvi they think they're too cool for it now.

Unrelated; Sora is bulkier than Riku, since he's got that lithe ballet vibe going on, but Ventus is probably more like Riku in the sense that he's also a lithe build, Roxas and Xion are bulky too, with Vanitas packing the most muscle lol.

I bet Vanitas can also use his Keyblade backwards but doesn't, due to the connection Sora and Roxas/Xion should be able to as well, but none of them except maybe Sora willingly choose to fight that way occasionally.

TIME FOR XION HCS! look. Ik she's supposed to look like Kairi but f that noise she's so genderqueer. So that means I think she should be able to reclaim her weird ability to look differently to every person. Instead of letting others project of her, she should be able to choose how others perceive her. Both in a conscious and unconscious level she shape shifts in subtle ways. Like looking more like any of the heart hotel she's near or taking on new features, mixing and matching, rarely straight up copying. I feel like, she'll always have a weirdness where she doesn't know where she starts and Sora or Roxas begin, but finds peace in it eventually having a guide to her while still maintaining her identity as the one and only Xion. Matching faces/features at time as a form of connection and trust, comfortable knowing she's still her but able to show affection in that way. Like it doesn't matter what she looks like, she's still Xion.

Sora is a cat person. No I do not accept criticism at this time.

Sea salt ice cream always makes me think of the ramune popsicles that I had once. Same color. The sugar content makes them melt fast and are very soft, so I imagine it's the same flavour but slightly salty. Must be good.

Do you think some of destiny Islands have pink or black sand? Must be neat.

The air must be amazing, other than some stinging salty air, but all the plants n flowers... So going to big cities must be weird for Sora as the air isn't as clean. The Heart Hotel probably have moments where they imagine whiffs of sea breezes and vaguely miss it despite never being immersed in it.

Sora has earrings/piercings bc I said so. Anyways he got has a pearl set or opals and other water and volcanic gemstones/glasses.

Omg. There's totally a volcano on destiny Islands.

You can't tell me Terra, Aqua, and Ventus aren't siblings. I love them very much. They're always hanging off of each other esp after kh3... And they do that thing were they go brother each other in their rooms or follow each other everywhere in the castle if they're not doing anything. Or just vibe near each other while doing their own thing.

Aqua and Ven like to do origami together and make paper cranes and stars to fill jars and make wishes since they're into little myths and stories like that. Terra will be in the back wood carving or smth. Family time.

Terra gives good hugs, but Aqua has the sweetest kisses. Ven has both :) he is gentle and very soft. And also likes touch.

The Wayfinder Trio does that thing where if any of them are on the couch and one of them gets up they beg them to bring them water or snacks to which all of them will just do it but with different reactions. Terra will do it but tease that the others are super lazy, Aqua will just do it no question but count a debt in her mind, and Ven will low-key whine but the older two will say that since hes the youngest he has to its only fair as his super busy big siblings that always do if for him to guilt trip him.

Oh back on languages, if Ven is from the distant past, where they have odd names or later use latin for places like Scala ad Caelum (?) Then let's say he speaks Latin but doesn't really use or realize it due to memory loss, but I imagine he finds a book in the castle one day, and everyone is pikachu faced bc 'hey Ven how are u reading smth in a dead language?'

Basically. I just want everyone to have a bit more culture in em lol.

a messy sora ramble that isnt as focused as i wanted it to be. brought on by seeing one of my old kairi posts, (but also i read a post about this too somewhere, i hope i remember sorry):

Sora is definitely facing the same problem as kairi. His stagnancy is just written/done much better, or in a more interesting way, than kairi's.

as in— he technically doesn't 'grow'. he always loses his power and starts at base level. The best counter example or whatever we have to this trend is riku. Riku from ddd to kh3, retained his power. Remained strong. Was not explicitly stated to have lost his power or strength. And we know why. Because he's always been focused on gaining strength to protect what matters, and now he knows it's sora. And it pushes him to work through his struggles with darkness, which helps him grow.

Sora keeps avoiding dealing with his trauma and internal struggles. And so he doesn't actually grow. And bc this is a game, it's best represented by sora starting every game back at square one.

Not to mention, he is explicitly stated to be actually losing his power every time. It's not just a game-playability thing, or a power-creep thing. In game, sora starts all over every time bc of some shortcoming or other in his prior actions, behavior, or character.

Kh2, for example. Sora starts all over even after aging a whole year bc he chose to forget all the bs from castle oblivion, instead of working through them as well as his resulting trauma. "Make me like i was." It could not be more blatant.

Riku actively chose to remember all his struggles in castle oblivion, instead of forgetting them. Throughout the 358 days, he is working and fighting to wake sora up. And the results of his growth are plain to see in the kh2 ending.

Now sora is left constantly susceptible to darkness, both from external forces as well as his own, bc he constantly refuses to /deal/ with it. You get shit like ddd, where he falls to darkness from the get go, and you get riku, who again, fights to protect sora, pushes through the darkness with all his previous experiences with it. Uses that experience, and comes out stronger, and grows.

I wrote a kairi ramble a million years ago about how her story isn't interesting on paper, and that thats why she seems and basically /is/ a lackluster character.

But sora is living practically the same story, but like i also said in that kairi post:

"Trauma doesn’t always have to be packaged as some action-packed superhero story that’s fun to consume."

But for sora, it is. Just, by default bc hes the mc of a game series, ig, or a more "sophisticated" reason that my monkey brain isn't processing rn lol.

But it's like /because/ sora goes on adventures on screen, it means he's moving forward on his journey of personal growth. And like. Thats not the case at all.

And it took me five ever to begin to process this. I love sora for who he is and what he brings to the kh world. Actually. You can have heavy scenes and darker, more depressing concepts, but sora comes in and you actually feel lighter. Like you can breathe more easily. Legit, for me at least. And again! I didn't even appreciate that about him until recently, i don't remember what scene(s) caused this tho.

But esp as a basic riku bitch, i used to feel a bit indifferent towards sora's character. Like "he's another happy-go-lucky mc. lowkey boring". But! When i started seeing people explain this, that sora's character is like an embodiment of repressed trauma, i was like oh! I see! That's /amazing/, actually. (And that made soriku feel more uh "deep" lol, bc it's not surface level light/dark, but actually rooted in their character and journey)

But the reason im rambling about it now, much more messily than other people have talked about this, is bc i came across my old kairi posts and was like "oh i was wrong. It's not just her."

i think sora is luckier in that, he trusts so much in his heart, and in his connections to others. he trusts his heart to guide him through struggle, even when he doesn't understand it, or chooses not to.

(the words at the beginning of kh3, that are sora's mindset at the end of that game, reflect that same trend i feel like. Sora is due for some introspection in kh4, hopefully, but even now, dead, he's still relying solely on his heart to guide him. Which isn't inherently bad, but the trouble comes when he depends on his heart alone to do that, when it'll take more than that to light his way through his darkness)

Omg that sounds like such a freakin hassle;; I'm so glad that I already had a 3ds by the time I bought DDD (I was... a few years late) BUT THEN they did that package release thing, and I got those. Thankfully I have a ps4 and that's what I play them all on;;

But No I totally understand that for a good while there you can kinda guess Nomura might have had some of this planned. Tbh I'd guess maybe he had kh1, kh2, COM, and Days planned out, but after that it became a mess and more contradictions started popping up. He normally is pretty good at having it tie back into the story in some way (like the inclusion of Terra Aqua and Ventus), but he also has this dumb habit of raising SO MANY QUESTIONS, giving us answers to like, 2 in the next game, THEN GIVING US EVEN MORE!!! WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BLACK BOX!! WHY IS XIGBAR LIKE 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE!! WHERE IS MY BABY BOY DEMYX!! But maybe I've just been so used to his bullshit because I've literally been playing (or... watching my dad play for a bit there) since I was 3, and I'm so intrenched into this story that I don't even care what he does with this anymore. Like I have no clue what the fuck the plan for kh4. What the fuck even is Quadratum. Why is this weird lovechild of Riku and Noctis that showed up in an in-game ad actually relevant?? AAAAAAAA

Tho, going back a tad, I guess there still is the argument that he only intended for kh to be a one game thing because the whole "there's only one keyblade and it chooses it's weilder" thing from kh1 was so quickly scrapped omg

Also I totally get not wanting to play Re:Com bc the gameplay... well tbh I'm one of the weirdos who doesn't really mind the card based system but also I have to be in a Very Specific Mood to play it. Which sucks bc I honestly think it has some of the best story in the entire series. It also gives us Larxene aka my best bitch.

I made another post on my main blog that holds this one, and honestly, Nomura possibly did think KH would be an only one perhaps, but somewhere in there he got inspired to make another and then fell down the rabbit hole. Because if you compare the first game to all the others, it has a totally different tone and feel to it, thus making it so much more magical and whimsical than the serious sequels/prequels that just further confuse us lmao.

You’re not bothering me at all!! I can talk ages about this fucken dump truck of a series! You should hear/see me and my friends talk about this in person as we are introducing out other friend to the series (she was gifted the game by our other friend, the 1.5/2.5 remix ones when it went on sale a few months back)

KH 2 playthrough post so far so I don’t actually have to spam my blog and you all:

OOOH!! I just beat Aladdin’s world for the second time and now the organizations place is showing up!! It’s beginning to appear which isn’t too good-

But it’s also perfect bc I am craving to see Riku pleaseeeee.

I have to go back to Twilight Town for the second time and I didn’t see that the path wasn’t opened up yet (like I can see the world but I can’t land there yet), so I went up to it and it did that barrier thing and it scared the crap out of me. Idk why it did, but it did-

AXELL!! IM IN THE DATA TWILIGHT AND AXEL IS SAVING US IN THE PORTAL THING!!!

HE DIESSS NOOOO. I mean Ik he doesn’t die but STILL ITS SO SAD😭. He just wanted to see Roxas….

I’m looking at the shadow profile in the journal and gosh the way it just twitches…it makes it so hard to believe that Sora was one of these at some point-

Went back to Pride Rock to lvl up bc I remember that spawning those flying creatures thing on top of pride rock and it’s worked pretty well. Got Sora leveled up at least once since the first time so :).

But also why am I only now learning that Sora can actually run in Lion King’s world?? He doesn’t do a short dash…if you hold down square he actually runs…why am I only now realizing this after years-

Yesss!!! The heartless wasn’t that hard. I just didn’t go up to the actual heartless at all and just attacked the big dinosaur thing bc it was safer and that thing was dead within 5 minutes?? Maybe?? Idk but anyways. I really wish we could do drive form in pride lands bc that fight would’ve been really good for leveling up my Valor form and others. I think I need to lvl each form up to beat Roxas so I need to get to working-

Donald and Goofy: Happily accept the hug

Sora: Acts like he’s never been hugged in his life and is so uncomfortable

I still find this moment so funny-

Leveled up my Drive Forms (even tho I could only use limit :’)) and I beat Roxas on the first try! I’m so happy!! And while reading through comments of a video about how to beat him since I haven’t played him in awhile and needed a refresher of what he does, I saw people saying they quit. They literally got to this fight and quiet and it made me a little sad. One comment said they got to lvl 40 and couldn’t beat him and I was like, “Did you…not read the lvl recommendation? It says 50 for me, plus leveling up the drive form needed wasn’t too difficult.” I literally took a TON of damage and could barely block any of his attacks, but if you have Curaga and Hi-Potions, then you can beat him. Literally my first time posting on normal mode and I managed to do it!!

Some even said that it took them two hours to beat Roxas and I was like dang. It took me awhile to level up my drive forms sure, but not two hours. I guess they didn’t go to the right areas :/. I just want to tell people that if you gave up bc of him, to back to this game! It’s so amazing to beat him yourself and feel that satisfaction! It really is! Plus, as long as you’re at the recommendation lvl then you can do it! I’m literally barely dodged his attacks and almost died once, but I managed and it’s very satisfying to beat him!! And very emotional if you look up why you fight him :’’’(.

But yeah there’s my small rant about my fight with Roxas. I really can’t believe I beat him on my first try. Last playthrough (which was the first time I beat the game ever) I sucked so bad.

BROO WHY AM I CRYING AS I WATCH SORA AND ROXAS HAVE A MOMENT. HE HAS A WHOLE MOMENT WITH AXEL AND THEN HE JUST TELLS SORA, “You make a good other.”

BRO IM LITERALLY IN TEARS. My head hurts😭. I love that KH seems like a Disney game because of the worlds, but it’s story and lore is real deep and punches you in the heart while simultaneously making you laugh. I love it here even as I cry :).

This is so terrible out of context, but Namine and Kairi running away while holding hands is kinda funny. Just the way they run is a little bit funny. Situation is terrible but I just had a small chuckle at their run-
