If anyone told you that you’d end up becoming best friends with one of the most sought out guys in your campus (and not to mention resident fuck boy), you would’ve laughed at their face. All your life you’ve tried to avoid befriending guys like Juyeon. A guy like him just generally gave you the ick.

You never understood how or why people would want to be friends with someone whose only objective is to get into girl’s pants and be praised for it. Not only that, but also playing with someone’s feelings and just dropping them at an instant was wrong on so many levels.

But here you are, lending him a helping hand while you two clean out his living room after throwing yet another one of his bi-weekly parties, which was usually code for “Please let me at least make out with someone tonight.”

It’s crazy how you consider him one of your bestest friends. In another world you both knew this friendship would never work out. You were both opposite of each other in so many ways!

So how did you even end up becoming friends with Juyeon?

Transferring to a different university in the middle of the semester was one of the worst things that could've happened to you. Not only did you have to adjust to a new set of lesson plans and navigate your way around campus, but you also had to sit alone during lunch since practically everyone already knew each other from freshman year and had their own set of cliques.

During your first week, you thought you could at least find a table you could sit with just by going up to the group you vibed with the most and ask politely. But you decided to just sit by yourself instead and avoid any embarrassing introductions. You refused to be known as the weird new girl (which you already felt like one to begin with.)

You tried to fight off the tears emerging from the corners of your eyes as you sat quietly in the corner of the cafeteria, slowly poking the food on your tray as you try to drown out the noise around you.

You wish you didn’t have to transfer and leave everything and everyone you knew behind. Yes, you can still call or text your friends, but you knew it was different than actually being with them on campus.

You were convinced you’d be alone for the rest of your years in college. No friends to hang out, laugh, or cry with. No one to go through the same struggles as you. No one to tell you that everything was going to be okay. You were definitely on your own until-

“Hey.” The voice suddenly snapping you out of your self-loathing as you look up and see probably one of the most handsome men you have ever seen in your life.

The way his eyes held so much love, how his smile could light up anyone’s day, and how his aura was something you never felt with anyone before. He was practically radiating sunshine to your already gloomy day. It almost felt too good to be true… Because what the hell was he doing here in front of you?

“…Hi?” You sit up straight as you try to subtly dab off the tears in your eyes.

“I couldn't help but notice you sitting here all alone.” The man gently says.

Great, the first thing he notices about you is how much of a loser you are. But before you could even say anything back he continues on.

“Would you like to come sit with us? We have some space for you at our table.” He slowly smiles at you. You hesitated at first, confused by the whole situation but quickly made up your mind.

“So, let’s go?” He waits for your response, but you shyly nod your head instead as proper words get caught up in your throat. Grabbing his hand as you stand up and follow his lead.

You try not to make a fool out of yourself as you feel Juyeon’s hand rest on your lower back as you guides you through the sea of people. As you two are walking towards his table he leans close to your ear and whispers,

“We’re gonna be best friends, I promise.”

And ever since that day Juyeon really did keep his promise. He helped you catch up with some of the lesson plans you had, guided you around school, and always made sure to leave a space for you beside him during lunch.

You tried to wrap your brain around the idea of how someone like Juyeon just randomly entered your life and swept you off your feet. At first you felt like you were on cloud nine getting the most attention and almost boyfriend-like treatment from him. But as the weeks went by you soon discover that his reputation actually preceded him more than you thought.

You see, it was no secret that Juyeon was somewhat of a playboy. Well, somewhat was an understatement. During the first few weeks since you became friends he would walk you to class almost every time. You nearly crush the plastic red cup in your hand before storming out of the house, intentionally pushing past Juyeon’s shoulder in the way as he tries to approach you with the most concerned look you had ever seen on his face.

He ran after you that night. He even dropped on his knees begging for forgiveness in front of a crowd of drunk college people too. Over the top sure, but somehow you knew his apology wasn’t just a one and done thing.

And after the humiliating lecture you gave him as well as the list of promises he had said he will be doing in order to make up for his mistakes, you decided to give him another chance.

In return of accepting his apology, you offered to help him get out of his fuck boy tendencies and be his “guardian angel”. Juyeon was reluctant of the idea at first because it would mean he couldn’t be free to do as he pleased but he eventually gave in. He had to because well… He did owe you a lot for lying to you in the first place.

Somewhere in your mind you knew this could turn out to be a bad idea. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me, or however the saying goes. But Juyeon was different.

You knew somewhere in that deep conceited mind of his there was a version of him that was actually a good guy. A guy that can actually learn how to not fool around and maybe one day, find someone worth changing for.

You can tell it was a struggle for him at the beginning. But eventually he started to lessen the flirting, the hookups, the ghosting, and more.

Gone were the days where Juyeon had a line of women wrapped around his fingers (because they were too many of them to count). Dating was still a thing for him, but he had said and even showed you that he would take them seriously and not just move onto the next one as easily as he did before.

Eventually you realized over time that Juyeon turning over a new leaf was also becoming a struggle for you especially at parties when he would come up to you nearly drunk out of his mind, his subconscious would revert back to his old habits and he would act them all out on you.

Tips for starting out a new writing blog ?

tbh tags. establish a tag system. figure out how you’re gonna organize your reblogs, your posts, the characters you write for etc etc. like srsly i wish i had done that when i started this blog, now i’m going back to manually change tags to fit my new tagging system.

i honestly choose an aesthetic first. name, title, descrip, pfp, bkg. it’s always the most fun for me. pick your fave colors bcos those will stick with you the longest.

put your age in your bio or pinned. super important

make a navi page, and masterlist page first. organize your masterlist by fandom ppl rly like that. make an anon page when you get your first emoji anon and keep track of themmmm by goddd i did not keep track of my emoji anons and recently had to revamp the whole thing, everyone had to pick new emojis. do a rules page also, and if you need help defining your boundaries in your rules take a look at mine bcos mine is super thorough

if you write smut don’t use the actor’s name or character’s name plain. like when i write a anakin skywalker smut post, i don’t say “hayden christensen” or “anakin skywalker” in the tags bcos it’s a good way to get stuck with a community label. chances are someone is in those tags that doesn’t look for smut and doesn’t know what a blow a community label is, and they just hit the “add community label” button so tumblr nails you with one. always tag your smut fics with “(character) smut” or “(character) x reader” and never just “(character)”

don’t tag more than you have to. like you don’t have to clog up tags with things that don’t pertain to it. if you’re writing anakin skywalker x reader don’t tag the fic as “obi wan x reader” too. keep your tags relevant otherwise ppl will tell u not to clog up tags.

if there’s a way to credit things, do. always. find a way to credit things. if you found a fanart picture on pinterest, reverse google image search it to find the source to check of the artist allows reposts etc. if you’re inspired by someone else’s writing even marginally mention them in the post you wrote inspired by their piece.

This whole thing gave me so much anxiety. I'm in no group like I don't really have friends on here, but seeing everything go down was a lot. (Not to mention the ppl actually affected by it.) hey! i get it, this entire sitch is unpleasant to deal with simply because some people have no problem being real nasty. and yeah, there seems to be a strange clique which keeps coming up over and over - i prommy most of tumblr isn’t like this 😭

but first and foremost, nobody else dictates what you do on tumblr, you do! no one else can tell who you should or shouldn’t follow — that decision is entirely yours.

if a friend of yours gets hurt that you’re interacting with a certain person, you can always ask how to minimise that hurt (maybe rb with a tag that they can block) or have a conversation with them about why this upsets them- you might find that the creator does/says something you also personally disagree with!

your friend might have reasons that apply broadly (like say, a writer having brushed off comments about writing white-coded readers) or it might be something completely personal to them, like a fight they had with that writer in which case, it doesn’t exactly effect you.

either way, that’s okay. it’s fanfiction. there’s too many people on here who, when they need to take a break and remind themselves it’s just the internet, instead seem to double down. some people will have a very strong line in the sand of what they tolerate (like me!) and others, not so much. there isn’t a right way to do it, friend.

if it’s giving you anxiety, i suggest you take a break from being online for a little bit <3 i know when ur in the thick of it, it can feel so so so draining so make sure to take it easy on yourself, because like you said, we’re all here to just enjoy ourselves — i sincerely hope you feel better and can build up to posting your own writing bcos that’s rlly what this website is about! creators like u! much love <3

Were you named after anyone?

Technically I was named after a character from a film my parents loved. I’m glad i wasn’t named after a relative as per irish tradition, because the expectations that may subconsciously come from that would weigh too heavy

Do you have kids?

I am a teenager that still sleeps with a teddy and is intimidated by ovens. I hope that answers that question. 

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I think so, but a lot of the time it’s unintentional since I come from a long line of sarcasm enjoyers so i may insult people without realising because Tone.

What's the first thing you notice about people?

If this is in a literal sense, then probably their outfit because I feel like it conveys a lot about people’s interests, confidence level etc. If this is in a romantic context, probably the way they address people e.g. how polite they are, whether they have a sense of humour etc.

Eye colour?

Dark brown. I really like my eyes, though people always talk about brown eyed ppl’s eyes in the sun looking like golden honey or fragments of sunlight itself or smth but mine perpetually look like wet soil. 

Scary movies or happy endings?

I hate scary films icl. I’ve had scary films described to me and got nightmares from the thought of them alone. So yeah I don’t think they’re for me. I’d like to say I love happy endings, and I do, but something about sad or bittersweet endings are so immaculate. It’s usually those stories that stick with me and become all i think about for weeks on end as I become shrouded in this unshakeable sense of sadness or discomfort :]

Any special talents?

Nah but I can do a decent Keira Knightley impression

What are your hobbies?

I love reading sm. And writing is definitely my number one Thing, though I don’t do it nearly as much as I wish I did because Perfectionism. Also lately my days have been consumed with rewatching always sunny over and over again because i can’t enjoy things casually.

Have any pets?

One dog. I would die for him and I like to think he’d do the same for me but he doesn’t know wtf is going on most of the time. We’re bros though.

What sports do you play/ have played?

I don’t play sports anymore bcos of anxiety over being seen doing said sports by anyone but I like to work out. I used to do swimming, athletics and dance tho and they were fun

hi suki! i’m so glad you’re back. i’m trying to start to write a story, and since you’re so good at it, i want to ask for advice on how to write a story well & how everyone reading will feel (almost) the same as the leads.

hello hello!! oh, you can search for my tag suki: writing advice or suki: advice for more in depth explanations (disclaimer: i don’t remember my tags very well, but it should be those) where i gave notes on what worked for me personally in my writings.

in terms of writing stories well, there are three things i would focus on and would want to see as a reader: flow (transitions, coherence of the story, conciseness), good dialogue (i get most of my emotions from dialogue. i pair it with facial expressions, a few gestures, and then depending on what style i want to go for, probably some prose or monologues to build up the intensity of the dialogue. i think dialogue is a window to vulnerability for the characters, but this is mostly my writing style. other writers convey their characters’ emotions through other aspects other than dialogues, and whichever you’re comfortable with, its best to highlight that feature!), and the last would be execution of the plot. there are times when the plot ideas are stellar, but turning it into actual writing doesn’t match the creativity of the plot. i personally struggle with this, because i feel like my vision is not on par with my capabilities as a writer, but i would advise that before you start writing everything, you structure your plot out carefully so that you would not be confused when you’re finally writing everything down.

get the key details, the character information, the timeline. it depends on you really on which you prefer more, bcos i also have times where i write chapters on the spot, but to give you a general idea, have like a 1k summary of your entire plot that you can use as a basis. and to execute it well, its best to actually visualize most of it first through songs, photos and moodboards maybe. the most important part is to just have fun with it though! i think readers can feel whether the writer enjoyed their work or not. their emotions reflect on their pieces, so just enjoy the process and learn every step of the way. no writer becomes skilled right away, and we still all hone it until now.

First impression

Well. Ok. this is complicated bcos my first impression of him was when I was like. 8? And at that point in time my impression was "holy fuckign shit this guy is the coolest guy in the whole world oh my god hes a fuckign NINJA turtle omg and hes got SWORDS"

Upon rewatching the series a few years ago my impression was a dawning horror that I had literally just grown into his character. the awful realization of "he's just like me fr...." (said in despair). We're the same guy and this isnt a good thing 👍

Favorite moment

UH. I rlly like when he actually has moments where he's making a joke or an awful pun or some stupid catchphrase??? He's normally v serious and stoic and crumbling under the weight of responsibility so I really like when hes a goofy little guy. A silly <3 or like along the same lines when he gets excited about Space Heroes !!!! Hes just like me fr !!!!!!

If we're looking for more of a specific moment I rlly love his solo fight scene w the foot and the shredder at the end of s2??? It's SO atmospheric and visceral, and hes just like. fighting in a very feral and violent way ?? Its rlly interesting bcos again hes usually so collected so its neat to see him be able to pull away from that. Also I love the like little details of snow and their breath fogging its great and rlly cool

Idea for a story

I'd love to write or read something focusing around his guilt and/or anger concerning Splinter?? Like obviously Leo looked up to him and idolized him and I'm sure Splinter did love Leo but like. Man.

idk like Splinter put so much responsibility on him at so fuckign young and like. expected so much of him and Leo did his best but still felt like he couldnt live up to the expectations that were given to him. He expected Leo to be ready to DIE for a city that would never know his name or care about him at age 15????????????????

Theres gotta be some resentment there that Leo's gotta sort through and unpack??? Splinter was his hero and i think he's definitely got some right to be angry about what he did, or even what he didn't do. He put Splinter on such a high pedestal and I really think Splinter disappointed him and let him down, and Leo I think needs to come to terms with that in a way. Learn that he doesnt need to be the hero that he doesnt NEED to save everyone that its okay if he screws up. idk. I'd like to see something examining that.

if we’re being honest here reblogs don’t happen as often as they should regardless of the quality of the work. one thing you can do is put a little reminder at the end of the fic for readers to reblog and send asks if they liked the fic but even that doesn’t really do much tbh. i get where you’re coming from since i’ve been there too and it really sucks :/

even if you have 1k or more followers, sometimes you’ll get like an average of 100-300 notes and most are just likes which does absolutely nothing at all. there are cases when you might post a fic that blows up but those aren’t consistent.

as for what you said in response to the anon rid, i completely understand you. also with taglists… those are a whole different story. you’ll get the few of however many you have who consistently reblog or send asks but it’s not really a lot. one thing you could do is make it a point to emphasize that if they want to be on the taglist and stay on it then feedback should be given. usually, people just want to be on the taglist just for the sake of a notification but they don’t want to provide feedback after reading (or they just leave a like). if the people on the taglist don’t offer feedback then it’s kind of pointless because you can spend on your time on other things instead of including the taglist.

the best way that readers can help boost fics is by reblog and in that reblog include comments and tags. you can comment through a reblog and you can also include tags or you can comment through tags if you’d rather do that.

now, if you don’t want to reblog for whatever reason at least send an ask. 99.999% of writers love asks whether it’s something as simple as just “I loved x fic. thank you for writing it.” if you don’t want to send an ask through your blog there’s a reason anon mode has been turned on.

sorry this got kind of long but writers on this platform really don’t get the recognition they deserve which is why many stop or leave. i remember i went on a long hiatus when i wrote for a different fandom and when i came back all i got were asks toward a series update but then such people who send asks don’t even interact with the post in a way that helps smh.

this. this is so on point. i put a reminder at the bottom of each of my fics, and i actually said quite a while ago that i start removing those from my taglist who haven't interacted with at least 3 of my latest fics. i totally get when readers get busy! but especially when one asks to be added for a new fic and then doesn't even interact with it, it's a little discouraging to me.

you're very right, the best way to help authors is to reblog. with or without comment. OR send an ask, on anon or not. we really do appreciate the tiniest things, right? writing a fic takes days and weeks and months. i know so many authors who stay awake to write cos their readers wait for updates... only for the fic to go unnoticed. i've seen so many writers leave bcos of that, and then a lot of readers get sad about it, but they still refuse to support authors and it's just :((( sad y'all :((( ccs are just also sick of asking....

(1) when did you start writing? how?

i started june last year! i was sitting on my desk past-midnight, listening to a song by the 1975 and i kept imagining chifuyu in that song’s sombre setting. i tried writing a paragraph inspired by it out of pure curiosity, and it felt like i needed to do more, to write more. the next thing i know i had laid out a fic (that’s pure english btw even though i’m not a native speaker of the language), and i was so damn proud of it (and myself, let’s be real) that i impulsively posted it on tumblr 😂 and despite it being really meh, i don’t have the heart to private it bcos it’s a great reminder of how i humbly started.

(4) do you write every day? if so, do you have any goals?

last year, i used to. i mean, i was really eager to expand my erm mediocre writing fiction skills so i would try to write about anything that’s under the sun in any way. this year, not so much (which is upsetting). i don’t have goals in writing per se. but i think i’d like it very much if i could just challenge myself to expand my english vocabulary further.

(5) do you plan? or do you “wing it”?

definitely the “wing it” type 😂 i’m not so good in building worlds or creating heart-fluttering scenarios AT ALL. i know it’s foolish to call myself a writer when i can’t even do that. but you see, my mind actually sometimes “plan” it. it’s just… i’m not able to HAHAHA

oh hey welcome to the madness! again feel free to correct me but i don't think there's just one tag everyone uses. if you want your fics to be visible my suggestion would be #supercorp (assuming that's what you're writing for), character tags (lena luthor, kara danvers, supergirl etc.) and then whichever variations of #supercorp fanfic / #supercorp fic / #supergirl fanfic float your boat (use multiple if you want to cover your bases!)

#tumblr is a tricky beast so i would say especially in the beginning tag a lot! esp different variations of 'supercorp fic' #bcos ppl spell/track things differently #and have a tag for your writing that lets you find it on your blog specifically! #eg i just tag everything i write 'mine' bcos im basic but would recommend having at least some way for ppl to search your work on your blog #if anyone else has other suggestions me and anon are all ears #but anyway hope this helped a little and welcome aboard!! and good luck with the writing friend ❤ #reblogs make the world go round on this site #i'm excited to see what you write! feel free to nudge it in my direction if you're ever so inclined 🤗 #hope you're having a wonderful day #asks #anonymous
