Album Review: ‘Oasis Nocturno’ - TOKiMONSTA

TOKiMONSTA simply defies genre.

From pop to hip hop to house to funk and RnB, her luxurious, sometimes kinetic beats can inhabit any mould. Melodies are carefully crafted like works of art, able to colour her moods with a wonderful amount of depth.

On her latest album, the night holds the key, with producer Jennifer Lee describing Oasis Nocturno as ‘a journey from dusk to dawn- following the evolving moods and feelings of the night.’ And though a lot more introspective in nature, it’s no less intriguing than 2017’s Lune Rouge, which was recorded not long after Lee’s recovery from the rare brain disease Moyamoya.

Dedicated to ‘multifaceted love,’ ‘Love That Never’ is a jangling earthsong that evokes incredible majesty across its vast, sprawling landscape. Standout single ‘One Day’ is also a dreamy mix of earth and atmosphere, with hypnotic twinkles scattered across chugging tribal beats as Bibi Bourelly and Chicago-based artist Jean Deaux connect with Lee to create a holy trinity of self-love and wisdom for every ‘young girl with a big heart.’

‘Get Me Some’ (ft. Drew Love and Dumbfoundead) reimagines the sleek, lascivious groove of Pharrell/N.E.R.D. with jazzy lounge pop finesse and club synths, a vibe that carries over onto the remix-ready ‘Renter’s Anthem,’ transporting you all the way back to the early 90s.

The heady, irresistible ‘House of Dal’ casts its lowkey Bollywood romance amidst a steady whirlwind of pulsing bass and flickering beats, ‘Phases’ (ft. Sunni Colon) pairing a space-age salsa beat with romantic confusion, while ‘Fried For The Night’ (ft. EARTHGANG) gets ‘turnt’ up with Eastern-inspired rhythms intertwined with dynamic trap pop, helping to lift the Atlanta duo’s spitfire delivery to even greater heights.

‘To be Remote,’ however, mirrors the anxieties felt while lost in the wilderness, its melancholic piano becoming entangled in fuzzy reverb and a thudding backbeat. The sparse, sombre finale ‘For My Eternal, Oh Dream My Treasure’ also hints at fear and uncertainty, letting its dark clockwork tremors and nostalgic music box tone echo off into the distance, in stark contrast to the album’s more bouncier tracks but incredibly poignant in light of Lee’s previous health battles.

As a whole Oasis Nocturno is insular and quite restrained, which can result in a bit of mood whiplash. Lee is also at risk of being upstaged by her own collaborators at times.

But while it might not prove as memorable as Lune Rouge, TOKiMONSTA’s fourth album is still a great reminder of why she’s such an accomplished beatmaker in the first place. So immersive, it’s the very definition of a mood. Just like a warm oasis, it’s pretty chill; a beautiful retreat even…

Jingle Bell Jazz, Chapter 9

Summary: Maki should have stayed in bed...on her couch?!?!??!?!

Chapter 9

Maki stretched...she was a little uncomfortable...wait, she sat up, what time, blinking, she stared across the room, 10:30...Nico had said 10, Maki had fallen asleep on the couch outside the music room when she laid down curious if any of Nico’s sweet musky perfume scent had lingered. AND FALLEN ASLEEP. Maki was on her feet, bathroom, coat, door, car, ignore traffic laws, get to the conservatory BEFORE Nico started looking for a new pianist.

Nico paced the hallway, her plaid skirt flipping up as her pace quickened. Eli watched anxiously, fussing with her roll collar.. Most of Honoka’s band was assembled inside, although Honoka herself, as usual, was late.

“I’m sure Maki's on her way, Nico. There was probably traffic.” As Nico glared, Eli raised her hands as a shield and to help Nico remember Eli wasn’t the problem.

Nico stayed on practical with a touch of paranoia. “She seemed nervous last night, wanted to practice. You don’t think she’d skip out on us.”

“I’m sure she didn’t, there must be a perfectly reasonable explanation.” Eli squeezed Nico’s hand, “I’m going to go warm up. Just relax. We have the set list. The music’s set up for her. We’ve run through the songs we’re using at least three times. It’ll be fine, Nico.”

Eli bopped into the room, eager to start playing, leaving behind a muttering Nico. “It’ll be fine Nico, it’ll be fine…” Nico stomped, “Nico needs a pianist who can show up on time, not just one who looks cute over french fries…”

“Who looks cute over french fries?” Honoka boomed cheerfully as she turned the corner, followed by Tsubasa in a black and gold skirt and sweater set.

Nico's hiss petered out when she spotted Tsubasa, of course Honoka would bring a Tsubasa surprise , “No one, Honoka. Hi, Tsubasa, thanks for coming. We’re running a little late and things are still a little rough.”

Tsubasa shrugged, “I’m just glad to be listening not leading. It’ll be a vacation.”

Nico nodded and opened the door for them, letting it close before she opened her mouth in a silent scream, forcing herself not to pound or kick the wall. Where was Maki?

Running. Maki was running. Nico turned as a red faced, out of breath redhead stopped at the break in the corridor, staring wildly at Nico.

“You’re late.”

“Sorry.” Maki was bent over, catching her breath.

“No respect for Nico.”

Maki’s brows lowered and her voice snapped. “I’m here, okay. Let’s just get started.”

Nico’s arms were crossed over her chest and her mood was dark. “Nico needs to know she can rely on you.”

Maki strode Nico-ward, “Can we just play.”

“Play…” Nico snorted, ‘That’s all this is.”

Maki stopped, looming over Nico, trying to keep the surge of anger in her voice tamped down. “No it isn’t, But we don’t have time for this, Nico. I’m sorry, okay.”

Nico frowned, red and lavender eyes both unyielding, Maki’s shoulders squared for battle, but Nico could sense nerves jangling. Nico brushed past Maki, opened the door, and swept her arm brusquely to indicate Maki should precede her.

It went off the rails from the start...Maki stuttered her way through “Winter Wonderland” which Nico had chosen to start off with because it was something Maki had gotten to a level of comfort with. With that as the beginning, Nico had no hope for a decent run at “Favorite Things” so she pulled the set list away from Maki, tore it in half, winked at a random audience member who turned out to be Umi, who then started glowering at Nico while Kotori whispered something giggly in her ear, the fawn haired flutist petting Umi’s upper arm soothingly. Eli leapt into a solo, leaning into Nozomi on “Sleigh Ride” with Maki tangling her fingers trying to keep up the pace. Nico shook her head at Eli and they got through “Let It Snow” fairly easily, the only distraction being Rin shout singing along with the chorus. Nico just smiled brighter. Enthusiasm in the audience was always encouraged, especially when Tsubasa Kira was sitting there looking interested and amused. Nico could work with that. Disaster happened when they got to “Jingle Bells”. First verse and chorus was fine, but then Nico had worked her way behind Maki and did a visual sweep of the room, everyone was leaning closer to their favorite person, Honoka was bouncing on the edge of her seat, and Tsubasa was in relaxed and alert mode. So Nico was in a good mood, finished the chorus with a flair, put her hand on Maki’s shoulder, and swang into the second verse feeling Maki freeze up as the music skittered into something it took Nico too long to recognize, “Silver Bells.” Nico’s voice trailed off on “Miss Fanny Bright” and Eli’s eyes widened in panic as Maki meshed chords in a way neither saxophonist or vocalist could predict or match. So everyone in the room was agape at Maki, whose piano playing was becoming more and more erratic until there was a crash of chords and then a very brief concluding reversion to Jingle Bells. Honoka was on her feet applauding, Nico was NOT bashing her head into the piano, Eli was getting fidgety and hovering near Nozomi, and Maki was aggressively not making eye contact with anyone. Nico closed her eyes, trying to remember anything Maki had played well from memory....”The Christmas Song…” maybe, Nico was pretty sure she remembered the words. She could always just hum.

With an aggressively charming smile in Tsubasa’s direction, Nico stepped out from the piano with a bow, “To close out this mini concert, we’ll go back to the cozy mood with” and Nico glanced back at Maki, who looked up gloomily, “The Christmas Song.” Maki nodded in defeat and Nico continued, “Nico knows she’s looking forward to a cuddly fireside night sometime.” Nico whirled to the audience as Maki playing the calm, even notes of the harmony met her voice.

“Chestnuts roasting on an open fire Jack Frost nipping at your nose Yuletide carols being sung by a fire And folks dressed up like Eskimos…”

Maki, all sweat and nerves, the shirt she wore last night clinging to her back, sat slumped at the piano. Nozomi had been the first to her feet, wrapping Eli up in a huge hug and not letting go, as the blonde leaned into her, an almost grin on her face.

Umi, Kotori at her side, extended her hand to Nico, her tone soothing, “Thank you for letting us sit in on your rehearsal. I’m sure Maki will be adapt and your concert will be fine.”

“The three of you together on stage,” Kotori fluttered her hand near her cheek, “are too much. I can’t wait to see what you’re wearing.”

“I’ve got the sweetest silver number. You’ll love it.” Nico was glad to have a topic other than music. Umi, seemed almost on the edge of a rebuke but just steered Kotori toward Honoka as Tsubasa approached Nico and Rin and Hanayo headed to the piano.

“Kind of a train wreck.” Tsubasa’s chuckle was sympathetic.

Nico shrugged and took in a deep breath, looking back over her shoulder at Rin pounding Maki on the back. “The kid’s actually doing amazing, considering she’d barely heard jazz before.”

“That’s some kind of life, isn’t it.” Tsubasa draped an arm around Nico.

“Yeah, I guess so.” Nico turned her full attention to Tsubasa, “Not the life for Nico though.”

“Good to know.” Tsubasa grinned, “I have plans today, but let’s do lunch tomorrow and talk business.” Tsubasa’s eyes had an eager glint and Nico was happy the rehearsal's hiccups hadn’t torpedoed the bandleader’s interest.

But then Nico felt someone behind her and Maki was at her side, twirling a red curl and clearing her throat, “I’m not a kid.” a pause, then stumbling.”I wasn’t prepared...we didn’t…” Maki shook herself, more confident. “That was a mistake. I can do better.”

Nico bit her lip, not wanting to have this or any conversation about Maki’s performance in front of Tsubasa.

“You have to come hear me play. Tomorrow afternoon.” Maki’s voice trembled, “There’s a charity event. I rehearsed.” Maki’s hand dropped to Nico’s arm. “It’s different.”

“Oh, that’s the symphony fundraiser, isn’t it? My business manager bought me a ticket to that.” Tsubasa smiled, “Maybe we could meet up, sit together, and get dinner after, Nico.”

Maki nearly growled at Tsubasa’s interruption. “The seats are assigned. It’s sold out and everything’s planned to the last detail.”

Nico turned to face the redhead, suspicious. “So where will Nico be sitting?”

Maki hesitated, eyes downcast. “I’m allowed a guest.”

Eli, eavesdropping, caught Nico’s eye from across the room and raised an eyebrow. Even Tsubasa’s cheery cockiness dented in the moment of awkward silence.

“Well, write down the details.” Nico waved a hand, returning to chatting up her potential employer, “But Nico is definitely free for dinner after, Tsubasa.”

“Good.” Tsubasa took Nico’s hand, bowing over it slightly as if to kiss, “I will look forward to it.”

Maki pushed herself away from that and sat at the piano, unclenching her fists to play a few scales. She could feel her temper fraying. Surely Tsubasa would be on her way soon. Surely Nico would want to rehearse after that disaster.

Nope, no rehearsal. Nozomi had herded the three members of Bibi out the door and straight to the grubby alley tea shop like an overprotective border collie. So now, they were sitting, Eli between Nico and Maki, a plate of beef and cabbage pirozhki in front of them, strong coffee being poured by Nozomi as she clucked over them.

Nico grabbed her cup, “You can’t mother hen us into being better at this, Nozomi. We need to put in the hours. A whole lot more hours. Which we don’t have.” Nico pointed to the clock. “And Nico needs to get to work.”

“I can drive you.” Maki said automatically.

“Nico is fine.” Nico sounded sullen.

Eli poured cream into her coffee, careful to keep her elbows from bumping either of her boothmates. Nozomi, concerned, couldn't decide who to look at. Nosy concern, Nico thought. Maki just pushed her cup back and forth, mouth crooked in melancholy.

“Why don’t we talk about why you make Maki nervous, Nico-chi?” Nozomi calmly sipped coffee as if she hadn't just dropped a grenade.

“That’s not true.” Maki spluttered, coffee spilling.

Another sip and Nozomi pressed, “Nico touched your shoulder and Jingle Bells magically turned silver. Are you an alchemist, Maki? Or are you just...”

Maki had no idea how to respond, but before panic did more than spark, Nico doused the embers.

“Stop harassing her, Nozomi. She’s not the problem.” Nico sighed, rubbing her eyes, “Well not really. Coco not being here is the problem, Maki is trying to help...there’s just...there's not enough time.” Nico raised her chin, eyes focused on something on the other side of the window, “We’ll just stick to the sheet music, no improv.”

“Aw, Nico, that’s lame, it's not our sound…” Eli snapped her fingers in a broad gesture that shook the table.

Nico's head was in her hands, her voice muffled. “Eli, we just have to get through this one concert without totally destroying our reputation and then we’re done. Don't make it harder on Nico.”

Eli wondered if Sergey would let her have a shot from the bottle he kept under the counter at the back with the register. Nozomi had been urging her to talk to Nico, but Eli hadn't been feeling bold recently. She knocked back half the super sweet coffee, at least it could qualify as liquid, now Eli had to provide the courage. “Nico, I really think you should stay here, finish school, and keep Bibi going.”

Maki perked up, maybe Eli could convince Nico and then Maki wouldn’t have to say anything. And everything wouldn't be so rushed.

“Nico has practically told Tsubasa yes.” There was a whine in Nico’s voice, a "please be convinced" note.

Maki bit into a bun. Hunger wouldn’t make staying calm easier. And what could she say? Didn’t she tell Nico last night that she wanted to keep exploring jazz? Didn’t Nico feel the...Maki slumped, exhaling, and everyone looked at her...no, Nico wouldn’t have felt any kind of link between them this morning, only Maki being skittish.

“Maki?” Eli sounded so kind, patting Maki awkwardly on the shoulder. “I’m sorry you’re caught in the middle of this.”

Screw it, Maki thought, sitting up, Nico was never going to be definite about this. She just wanted everyone to beg her to be part of their band. Maki was tired of the hanging on the precipice. “Practically doesn’t mean you said yes, Nico. You don’t want to go. You didn’t even tell your mom. You just want someone…”

There was a hiss, like escaping steam from a tea kettle and Eli was shoved back into the wooden bench as Nico reached across her, fury animating her face as she confronted Maki, “You have no right to say that...you know nothing about Nico's life...Nico makes up her own mind.”

“So do.” Maki didn’t realize she was pushing Eli back even farther as she leaned toward Nico. “Make up your mind.”

“Tsubasa hasn’t asked Nico yet.” Nico’s voice cut, a welder’s blue flame.

“Tell the truth. Nico. You don’t want her to. Then you’d have to choose.” Maki could smell the coffee on Nico’s breath and see the seriousness behind Nico’s fluttering lashes

“Girls, stop crushing Eli.” Nozomi smacked the table. Nico whirled to face her, Maki fell back in her seat, taking a hasty sip of coffee so she had an excuse for silence while her pulse rate slowed. Nico’s eyes had been so close, so full of hidden shades, so fierce.

“Nico is done here.” Nico stood, “I have a job to get to.”

“Nico…” Eli began but Nico waved her off.

Maki was stubbornly staring at the wood grain on the wall. She’d had enough Nico for a day.

Talking on this occasion, the CM maintained that the negative politics has failed before the political agenda of public service. The opposition tried to create jangling discords on every occasion as it has no purposeful agenda, he regretted and added that propaganda based politics is the policy of the opposition. The opponents engaged in point scoring have faced defeat at every occasion, he said. Meanwhile, the incumbent government has also rectified the past mistakes; the CM stated and repeated that the parliamentarians’ problems will be resolved on a priority basis as they are his fellows. CM CHAIRS MEETING TO REVIEW PROPOSED LOCAL GOVERNMENT SYSTEM DRAFT

LAHORE, October 05:

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting to deliberate over the proposed local government system draft. Provincial Ministers Raja Basharat, Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed, advocate general, secretaries of law and local government departments, SMU head and others attended the meeting.

The participants were briefed about the new local government system and the powers of local government representatives. 15 municipal corporations, 133 municipal committees, 35 district councils and 64 town committees are proposed in the new local government system. The local governments will be fully empowered and the constitution of district local government authority, to be headed by the chairman district council, is also proposed in every district. Allocation of traders' seats will be deliberated as the PTI-led government is committed to resolving public issues at their doorstep.

The CM directed to early finalize the draft adding that it would play an important role to resolve public issues at the grassroots. The people will be empowered by devolving powers at the grassroots; he maintained and added that the new local government system draft will be presented before the cabinet for approval.

CM ADDRESSES A LARGE GATHERING OF PTI WORKERS, PARLIAMENTARIANS AND OFFICE BEARERS

LAHORE, October 05:

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar met with PTIs parliamentarians from the provincial capital, provincial ministers, ticket holders, workers and office-bearers of minority, youth and women wings on Tuesday. He listened to their problems and assured them to resolve the issues on a priority basis. Senator Ejaz Ch. also spoke on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the CM termed the workers and office-bearers as party assets and warned that no injustice with workers will be tolerated. You are part of my team and I am proud of you, he added and stated that their genuine issues will be resolved at every cost. The PTI in Lahore not only challenged a party occupying power for 30 long years but also proved its political wisdom by winning different seats, he said. The PTI has broken this status-quo and worked day and night to wriggle Punjab out of the quagmire of crises, he said. I have conducted more than 180 field visits while ensuring record legislation. The CM added that decisions have been made with consultation as the government believes in good governance and transparency. Neither I have asked anybody to do some illegal task nor allowed anyone to do so, he emphasized. I have worked with diligence and there is no corruption scandal of the Punjab government, he stated and added that the commitment of the government is stronger than the challenges. The CM said billions of rupees have been allocated to solve the problems of Lahore city as full attention was paid to improve the quality of life of the people. During the third year of the previous government, Rs. 67 billion were given to Lahore for different projects, excluding the budget of the orange line metro train, whereas different projects valuing Rs. 85 billion have been chalked out for Lahore in the third year of the PTI-led government in Punjab, he stated. We have established 21 universities as compared with seven universities in past tenure besides issuing NOCs for 20 cement factories. The CM added that the three years performance of the PTI government is better than the ten years of work of the past government.

The CM disclosed that the draft of the new local bodies system would be finalised soon and local bodies elections will be held in Punjab next year. The local governments will be fully empowered, he added. Meanwhile, Kisan Card and Mazdoor Card were launched during the last three years and every citizen would be provided a Sehat Insaf Health Card by December this year in Punjab. I have started meeting PTI ticket holders, workers and office-bearers and this will continue, he announced.

While talking about the development strategy of the Punjab government, the CM said 606-meter long flyover was being constructed at Shahkam Chowk and 6-KM long defence road from Labour Colony to Shahkam Chowk will be dualized. Lal Shehbaz Qalandar Underpass and pedestrians' bridge in front of Jinnah Hospital have been completed and South Asia’s largest Miyazaki forest was being developed in Lahore. Such urban forests will be developed at a number of points in Lahore to resolve air pollution, he said. Lahore’s master plan-2050 was being devised in consultation with stakeholders and the cleanliness system was also being improved in the provincial capital, the CM added. Though there are some unresolved issues, he affirmed.

As compared with the previous government, the incumbent government has made a saving of 800 rupees per ton in the new cleanliness system. A Turbo roundabout will be constructed at Shahdara Chowk to provide separate passages for heavy and routine traffic. Work was also in progress at Gulab Devi Underpass and Sheranwala Gate Flyover, he added. While parking plazas were to be built at Sheranwala Gate, Masti Gate and Aik Moria Pull, the CM said and added that 35 thousand apartments will be built under LDA City Naya Pakistan Apartments Project. Construction of 4000 apartments was in progress in the first phase while central business district and Ravi River Urban Development projects will prove game-changer initiatives, he added. The brick kilns have been transferred to zigzag technology and Children University has been established while the mother and child block was being completed at Ganga Ram Hospital with a cost of seven billion rupees. Emergency blocks will be constructed at Services Hospital, Jinnah Hospital and Ferozepur Road with 15 billion rupees, he noted. Rs. 10 billion will be spent on surface water treatment plant projects at Mahmood Booti, Shahdara and Shadbagh areas. Meanwhile, Rs. 4 billion will be spent on the restoration of the historical heritage of Lahore Fort while the Dilkash Lahore project was also started to highlight the beauty of the provincial metropolis, he added. A lawyer’s tower will be built while the new Punjab assembly building has been completed by the incumbent government, he said. Work on this building was stopped without any reason in the previous tenure, he added. Rs. 1.65 billion will be spent on water projects in 3 large union councils in Lahore and restoration of Sagian Road, women development office complex at Sabzazar, prison complex Lahore, centre for college faculty development and construction of multi-storey parking plaza at civil secretariat were being started. Furthermore, expansion of the Mazaar Bibi Pak Daman and establishment of revue academy was being made and fifty electric buses will be run on different routes in Lahore, he told. Meanwhile, Rs. 3 billion will be spent to construct a modern bus terminal at Thokar Niaz Beg. Shelter homes have been built at Data Darbar, Railway Station and Thokar Niaz Baig localities, he stated. Similarly, mobile almonries have been started for the needy communities. Besides the provision of 600 new vehicles, 10000 recruitments have been made in police and the scope of LDA has been confined to Lahore city to improve its service delivery. It has been decided to divide Lahore into new administrative units keeping in view the rapid increase in the population. It is impossible administratively to run Lahore through a single deputy commissioner, he disclosed and added that Lahore will be administratively divided to carve out new districts and resources will be provided for the projects relating to Lahore. Continuous liaison with workers will be maintained, he concluded.

Provincial ministers Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Murad Raas, Asad Khokhar, Dr Yasmeen Rashid, SACM Hasaan Khawar and others were also present.

This post is a liiiittle bit late.. It was hard to get it done quickly while also working on my other projects.. BUT! Its finally done.

We're getting closer and closer to 20,000 followers! Its hard to believe I've come this far so quickly! Thank you guys as always for your endless support, I wouldn't have stuck around on Tumblr if it wasn't for you guys!

I'm making huge progress on these projects- in fact I'm almost done! So I really hope to come back soon and get back to drawing FNAF and other things! Thank you again for all the love and I hope to make some more art soon! :DD

Happy 1st Birthday Jangles!!

This post was originally going to be a humongous comic filled with lore, goofs, and even a bit of angst? 👀 And then have a funny/wholesome ending. Just like Bibi’s birthday comic.

But.. I ran into a problem. I didn’t know what to get for Jangles.

For Bibi’s present it was obvious what to get him. He wanted a real friend. Bringing Jangles to life was perfect and really tied the whole comic together.

But Jangles? What does he want?

I wracked my brain for days. And when I finally thought of an idea? I only had 8 days left to make it happen. Sketch the comic out on paper, sketch it again in digital, line it, color it, backgrounds, dialogue.. I also had to make the actual present so that its picture could be used in the comic. All while having a very busy schedule for this week AND while working on Moon Malfunction..

I thought I could pull it off. So I got to sketching right away.

The comic would start with me in a big black blob. Locking myself away to try and get this project done as fast as possible. You know, like a total drama queen XD

Bibi and Jangles break in, and Bibi tries to talk to me but I ignore him. Meanwhile Jangles goes over to this goopy present by the wall. The present has a tag with Jangles name on it. As he goes to open it I do a spoopy jump scare and tell him not to. Jangles and I then proceed to go back and fourth. “Why not?” Because its not good enough yet. “I’m sure its fine, what is it? What’s it for?” I cant tell you what its for because its not that day yet. “What is that day? And why cant we know about it?” “BECAUSE, its a S E C R E T-”

Bibi then says I need a break. I tell him I cant because I’m running out of time. I tell him that it needs to be posted on a specific day and that it has to be perfect but I don’t know what to do..

Jangles then deadpans “Its my birthday isn’t it?”

“...Yes. It is.”

“Okay? So what? I get wanting to post it on the day. But why all this pressure for the perfect gift?”

I explain that Bibi got a big special comic for his birthday. It had all the bells and whistles and it had the perfect gift. Jangles. And I wanted to do the same for him. I explained that the problem though was I haven’t really written enough of Jangles character to know what he would want.. I then wrote for Jangles response to be,

“Well what I dont want is you stressing yourself out over me.”

..I stopped sketching the comic at that point. I realized that I was stressing myself out way too much over this comic. It was 1 in the morning at that point. I was already pushing myself so hard to get this done on time and make it perfect that all the fun was just zapped right out of it.

But I still worried a bit. I care about Jangles as my character and I wanted to do something cool for him. I wanted to post this at midnight on the dot, but that would require me to stay up until then when I’m still wiped out from the day before.. I also still wanted to get him a cool present.. But again I figured Jangles wouldn’t want me to stress over this “big comic” and “special gift” stuff. So I just settled for a break.

This entire post was prepared early, and posted when ever I was awake enough to post it. All the days beforehand I spent just taking my time with Moon Malfunction and focusing on my schedule. And on the day I’m posting it, I plan to draw nothing. Just relax and take a break from everything. I’ll get back around to all my projects tomorrow.

I think a post with minimal effort and day of no Tumblr, is probably exactly what Jangles would have wanted. So Happy Birthday Jangles! And thanks for the day off! XD

Man, 17,000 followers! You guys just keep coming and coming don’t ya? <XD

I feel kind’a bad though, I had a big comic planed for this post and it was gonna have Bibi and Jangles and stuff.. but with the FNAF recap turning out to be like. 5 times larger than I thought- and with Bibi and Jangles already having a different comic that I need to make.. ehhh.. It was too much work. Soo instead I guess I’ll just crash on this beanbag and leave that lore for later <XD

But aside from that, thank you guys so much! Your support means the world! And thank you as well so much for being patient. I’m still working as fast as I can to get my FNAF recap done and get my other comics finished. So thank you guys so much for all the kindness and I hope to post my next project soon!

I haven't actually decided on whether or not the other Addison's were good or bad guys. This would change their reaction to seeing Spamton.

I had this idea that Spamton's world is a lot like Seam and Jevil's. Its more cruel and wicked than the original Deltarune.. And Spamton might not have been particularly close with the other Addison's.. They had no time for bonds or relationships. It was a dog eat dog world, every man for himself.

Branching off of that, one idea I had was the other Addison's had become jealous of Spamton's success and tried to kill him by pushing him into the acid pools.. Only for Spamton to survive and reemerge as a horrific looking creature..

If I go with the evil Addison story.. some Addison's might run away in fear just because of how horrific Spamton looks. Though some might deliberately abandon him becuase they hated him/were jealous of him and felt like he deserves this.

If I go with a story where the other Addison's weren't responsible for the acid fall.. they might still run away in fear. Seeing this horrible beast.. not realizing its one of their own.

Oh no no, his top and bottom row of teeth are separate. Like these pictures here show,

The top row of teeth all fused together and became one big cracked tooth. And the bottom row did the same. But the two rows are separate and he can still open his mouth.

To think that if while he was initially melting, he had kept his mouth closed? His teeth would have melted together and he wouldn't be able to eat anything easily.. if at all.

Buuuut,,, maybe from Bonnie bowl you could also get one of Bonnies signature bowling balls? A purple bowling ball with a rabbit ears print on it somewhere.

And for Pirates Cove perhaps a cheap pirate captains hat? I had this idea that there's 100s of these cheap captain hats that Foxy gives away to the kids every day. So maybe that could be a collectable too? :00

Yeah, me and some friends theorized about that. We thought "Maybe Vanessa or William is taking care of the animatronics and keeping them clean"

But even if they were, you cant help certain wears and tears. They would look noticeably worn, stained, torn in some places and a bit brittle in others after so many years of just existing.

They also missed out on a lot of scares by making them pristine. Bonnie's face could have had a crack/split down the side. "Oh yeah that's been there for a while, its fine" Only for it to fall of later in the movie revealing these piercing red eyes and a Childs head lodged in Bonnie's face/jaw.

Or Chica could have her beak come off or dangle down and reveal colorful wires hanging down.. and.. is that a childs arm.?

I can see Bibi wanting to dress up and carve pumpkins too. But he might not actually be strong enough to puncture a pumpkin to carve it <XD He'd need some help-

The basic idea for my Kirby AU is that I took the other metaknight's and added them to the Kirby Right back at Ya universe :00 I cant remember what info I shared before because this ask was sent so long ago.. but I'll just recap Axe Knights story because it has the most detail!

Axe Knight was Metaknight's first follower, and best friend. He was with Metaknight from the very beginning. They became star warriors together when they were both a bit young. Axe Knight truly believed in Metaknight. He saw greatness in his friend, he saw a true hero. And he truly believed Metaknight was going to end this war and save the world. Its because of this adoration and belief, that Axe Knight devoted himself to Metaknight and proclaimed himself to be his first follower.

It was not too long after when tragedy struck. A battle broke out and Axe knight sacrificed himself to protect Metaknight. As he lay on the ground, dying from his sacrifice.. he saw Metaknight too laying on the ground nearby. Unmoving, and in a pool of his own blood. Axe knight died with his heart twisted in grief. Thinking that his sacrifice had failed. And that his best friend had died.

Metaknight of course survived, and Axe Knights sacrifice was the only thing that saved him. But Axe Knight didn't know that before he died. Metaknight buried his best friend and left that planet in grief. Forever changed by this loss..

But Axe Knight.. wasn't totally gone. Axe died grieving, thinking that this world lost a great warrior; Metaknight. Thinking that it was so cruel Metaknight didn't get to live longer. To travel the universe and save lives. They were robbed of a hero. Because of Axe Knights failure. His soul was so disturbed that it couldn't move on. He later crawled out of his grave, with a fiery determination to make things right. To go out there and save as many lives as possible. To protect anyone he can and to help all who need him. Because that's what Metaknight would have done.

Eventually after years of blindly wandering the universe.. battling monsters and saving innocents.. he crosses paths with dreamland. He finds himself in a little town full of Cappys.. And then he runs in to a familiar face...

I was going to draw a comic of Jangles making a vlog style video. "Hey guys, welcome to pranking with Jangles. Today I'm gonna prank Bibi by throwing this cheese slice at his face!"

He sneaks up behind Bibi who is sitting on a beanbag and reading or something- "Hey Bibi" He turns around

Jangles throws the cheese slice and it completely misses and just splats on the ground. "Oh oops"

There isn't really anything Gregory can do for Bonnie..

Its hard to explain,, but I'll try. Bonnie is missing his leg from the middle of his shin down. So he cant stand up right like Foxy because- well duh, he's missing a whole foot.

So order to fix Bonnies leg so he can stand/walk like Foxy does, he would need an entire replacement foot with a working joint. This would also mean that the wires in Bonnies legs would have to be replaced and hooked up so that he can control said new foot.

Currently there are no spare parts around that fit Bonnies model.. and even if they did, Gregory wouldn't know how to properly re-wire an animatronic foot. He's smart but not THAT smart <XDD

The only thing Gregory could do is make Bonnie a weird peg leg that makes his current leg longer. Currently Bonnies half leg is shorter than his good leg. But in all honesty Bonnie doesn't really want that.

Having Gregory ducttape this weird goofy peg leg to him would be more embarrassing then what he already has. He'd probably want to salvage what ever dignity he has left and say "ah give it a rest. There's no point. My legs good enough for what its for." <:/

If I remember correctly... Sometime ago my tablet pen broke. And it took like 2-3 weeks for a new one to arrive. In the mean time I tried to make an art doll of sorts. That doll was Bibi!

I ended up making a lot of goofy posts with Bibi and I as I waited for my pen to arrive. Once it finally did and I went back to drawing comics, I ended making Bibi a reoccurring character. And he's been around ever since!

Now Jangles is a Halloween prop that I bought because I thought it was funny. I was practicing making quilts one time and I made a small blue one that just so happened to be the right size for him. So I put it on and then I thiiink I got the idea to add Jangles to my blog as a joke.? I gave Bibi a "new friend" to celebrate hitting 10,000 followers. The new friend was a cropped png of jangles XD

Eventually down the line I wanted to give Bibi an proper friend. So for Bibi's birthday I drew a comic where Jangles came to life and here we are XD

<XD thank you. So far I have some pretty basic ones I imagine. Wally's house is alive and evil, Julie is actually a scary monster but has drastically altered her appearance to look less scary.. Sally is very celestial in nature because she's a real star, Eddie used to be a real human and bleeds and has a heart beat and what not.. uuuuuuh what elseeee,,, I liked to imagine that Sally and Julie came to the neighborhood when they were really young and Poppy kind'a adopted them?? Although I don't know how wide spread that idea is XD

1: I'm sure there would be somethings that would push his anxiety to the surface. I'm not sure what they'd be but still- I imagine if Luigi was around to see it he would try to get Mario out of what ever situation he's in. If he's in a crowd he'd try to help him slip away unnoticed.

2: I'm not familiar with the giga bell, but if I did add it I'd imagine those would be the side effects yeah <XD Really sore and tired and cant really move for like 3 days :x

Remodeled or not, I wont be adding any of those animatronics to the Pizzaplex. I already wrote the entire past of this timeline, and those bots all already have a story in my AU. And with their given stories it wouldn't make sense for them to be added to the Pizzaplex.

Of course I cant spoil what those stories are, just know that I have my reasons-

Oh yeah I forgot to add the colored eye lids to Wally and Barnaby in that trampoline drawing <XD

Awe, thank you! As for my art style I mostly find odd tutorials here and there and permanently adopt them into my art style XD. Like I remember one time I saw this tutorial for a simpler way to draw hands. And I’ve been using it ever since!

Having the other 3 fingers all bunched together makes them have a more solid shape and makes them easier to draw! (For me at least <XD)

You weren’t too far off, and that’s a great idea! But I had something else in mind for the piranha plants,😅 and Wario and Waluigi too! :0

I imagined that like you said, the piranha plants aren’t native to the mushroom kingdom. They originate from Bowsers land. And slowly they’ve made their way towards Peach and Daisy’s land.

But the nutrition in the soil, and available food is different there. So the closer to Peach and Daisy’s kingdom they go, the smaller they get. (I also thought that the wigglers could be in the forests around there and they could eat piranha plants but that’s not canon yet-)

Just imagine it from Mario and Luigi’s perspective though- They make their journey towards Bowsers kingdom. And they see these weird chomper plants. As they go one its seems like every one they see is bigger then the last. Until eventually they encounter ones so big, they are able to drag themselves around with their roots. Pretty scary!

Oh I’m- sorry?? I- Uhm, hmm. Thats like- cool that my art is “powerful” like that? But I’m sorry it made you cry??- Even though it was on purpose aaaa

There was actually a story with Toadsworth kind of becoming obsessed with it.

How the idea went, is when Toadsworth was a young boy, the mushroom kingdom was beginning to experiment with Power-Ups. They knew even back then that they were powerful things. And even though they didn’t know of any way to really use that power or harness it in any way.. they still desired these Power-Ups and held them in high value.

Its around this time, that Toadsworth became very ill.. And his parents were terrified of losing their son. They tried every treatment they could. But nothing was helping. In their desperation, they sent out a search party for any and all Power-Ups. Knowing deep down that they don’t seem to have any effect on Toads.. It was then when one of their searchers came back with a never before seen Power-Up.

The first ever discovered 1-UP mushroom.

The power that radiated off of it was insane. His parents felt that if anything could help Toadsworth, it was the 1-UP. As he lay in his bed, his parents placed the 1-UP on Toadsworth’s chest. The next morning, it was gone..

Over the next few days though, he seemed to miraculously recover! Toadsworth was walking within the next week and its like it never happened.

To this day Toadsworth is convinced that the 1-UP mushroom saved his life, and is the reason why he has lived so long. He believes he was the only toad to ever have absorbed a Power-up. But the truth is, he is not.

The 1-UP mushrooms have their own kind of sentience. It simply left in the night. But that’s not to say its healing aura didn’t have any effect though. Toadsworth was likely destined to recover and the 1-UPs aura just sped up the process.

None the less, Toadsworth has dedicated a lot of his life to the study of these 1-Ups. In hopes that someday he will be able to harness its healing power and provide this power to all of the mushroom kingdom.

They are not in my AU,, <:/ Luigi’s mansion functions differently in my AU. It only has boos!

I think they were in my AU yeah. I cant quite remember what Idea I had for them though.. I thiiiink they were meant to be a species that lives on the other side of the island to the Kongs? I think there was a battle between the species for rule over the island. aaaaa I cant really remember 😅

Also yeah! What makes it worse is that neither Mario, nor Luigi knew that Luigi had absorbed a 1-UP. So they both went through that thinking if Luigi dies, that’s the end. Its not like one ups are easy to find.. Ain’t I a stinker?🤪

The bandages and blood originated from my hands being covered in Band-Aids when I was designing the character. (They were due to cat scratches and dried skin.)

I wanted to add something to my sonas hands and I was like “Hey! WHy not make these wicked edgy BANDAGES huh?? Covered in BLOOD! Yeah that’ll be sick” XDD

Eventually it just became a fun stupid angst thing to do. Oh noes I’m a lil eepy irl? SONAS HANDS ARE NOW SOAKED IN BLOOD HEHEGEHEHRHRJ”

They also double as “artist hands”, so that’s pretty slick!

XDD I suppose they do. I like to make my sona look all dramatic and stuff while somewhat still relating to me. So if I’m working my butt off on projects and what not? Now my sonas hands are soaked in blooood, for the angst! :DD
