anyway have i talked about how i think it sucks the adaptation got rid of the subplot of javier knowing about suho's identity without lloyd knowing and being really conflicted about it only to slowly come to trust him based on his actions?? this is a rhetorical question of course i have.
i just. it's such a big part of javier's character. he's so careful and protective of the fronteras, he loves them so much, he can't stand the idea of doing something that could hurt them and he doesn't know if he can trust lloyd with them.
he used to. he trusted lloyd more than anyone. he truly believed he wanted the best for his family. and then he finds out lloyd has been lying to him for years, has made him unknowingly fail in his most important duty, has been deceiving the family he loves so much and he doesn't know if he can trust him to do right by them anymore.
but. but it's lloyd. and javier is very, very weak when it comes to lloyd. even if he doesn't quite realize just how much.
he wants to believe in lloyd. he hopes and he wishes and he tentatively lets himself do it but he doesn't really know if he can.
What you think about the family, the lord, and about me. I cannot tell if you are using us. Whether that is why you have been hiding your identity this entire time. I do not know the answer to anything. However...
However... Javier had only one wish.
I hope I won't come to regret the countless number of times I made the decision to help you in the past and in the present.
but god does he want to.
and then a big part of the rest of their relationship arc is javier regaining the trust in lloyd he'd lost. is him analyzing lloyd's actions and words and deciding for himself that yes, he can trust this man. he can trust him to do the right thing, he can trust him with his most precious people, he can trust him above anyone else despite the fact that lloyd won't tell him the truth.
and it's extra poignant because lloyd has absolutely no idea about this. javier never lets him know. he goes through a crisis of faith, a slowburn of trust and then has a feelings realization without ever telling lloyd a word about it. lloyd manages to gain back javier's trust plus his complete devotion without even really trying because he doesn't even know he has to.
it's an insane character arc and relationship and i love it. it's also a big part of their dynamic later on the novel and i do not understand why they just. threw it away in favor of an anticlimactic revelation with a dash of character assassination.
i wonder what they will substitute this dynamic with or if they will just,,, not give them anything else to replace it

i love love love the emphasis that their relationship as family is getting. i love that their platonic feelings for each other are getting the same amount of importance as romantic ones get in other comics. i love that them becoming family is treated with so much care and weight, as an important event in and of itself. yes they will almost certainly develop romantic feelings for each other in the future (this is a romance comic after all) but as of right then and there, their platonic feelings aren't treated as lesser or just a stepping stone towards their romance but as something worthy to be acknowledge and cherished just by themselves.
and i especially love that it's those platonic feelings that ultimately allow sabrian to free himself of one of the last holds his horrible mother had over him.
now he has a family that actually loves him, that cares for him and wants him to be happy, in abigail's case not because they're related by blood but because they chose to care for each other, and that's more important to him that whatever family tie he had with his mother.
i just think it's neat when people choose to be family and when platonic love is treated as equally important to romantic love it makes me happy <3

hey. hey remember when back in chapter 6 abigail thought about how sad it was that blanche was never allowed to be a child of her age and how she wanted her to feel safe enough to be stubborn and childish and throw tantrums when she didn't like something????
guess what she finally does in chapter 80 😭😭
like!!! the character development of it all!! abigail has done her best at all times to show blanche that it's okay to be a child, that it's fine to not be all grown up and perfect the way she thought she had to be because abigail will love her no matter what and!! it's paying off!!
blanche is finally acting like a kid her age (maybe even a bit younger because of all the years she spent repressing her feelings and emotions) and it's,,, so fucking cute,,,
this isn't the first time blanche has spoken against something she didn't thought was right (eg. when she stood up for abigail with sabrian about the dancing thing) but that wasn't,,, something blanche wanted for herself. it was a brave thing to do, it was fucking amazing of her considering the way she'd lived up to that point, but it wasn't something that she was asking for herself. not the way this is.
this is absolutely a little girl being upset at feeling like someone is stealing time with her mom away from her and acting accordingly. this is her pouting and saying little lies and making puppy eyes to get her way. it is such a kid thing to do and like,,, good for her. she deserves it <33

Weird question so feel free to ignore, but in your different species AU can gecko!Donnie lose and regrow his tail like real geckos?
I think a lot about the fact that he dropped his tail during the fight with Shredder at the end of the first season
don't worry, the tail will grow back!
...but it's much worse than the first one, which will make Donnie hate it. inactive and inappropriate in color. over time the tone will even out, but it'll take him a long time to get used to it (this idea is still raw, so perhaps there will be an update in the future)
AND THIS
@khlegacynexus yes, he won't lose his arm (unless I change it-)
