• Tranquility that descends upon listening to the recitation of the Qur'an and the solace provided by the Words of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

• Watching my Amma (mum) laugh heartily and smile despite the pain and hurt she conceals in her heart.

• Undoubtedly, RAIN! The feeling of Allah's mercy embracing your skin on your outstretched arm.

• The intimate and the most peaceful conversation with my Rabb during Tahajjud. I cannot trade those moments of serenity with ANYTHING in this Dunya.

• Just the constant realisation that every single element which forms the tapestry of this Dunya is fleeting, transient and perishable. The stress, worry, hurt, pain, grief; every feeling will inevitably leave the fabric of our being and we will be reinstated to the place devoid of all resentment and grief and worry and fear, bi'idhnillah.

These are just few things that instantly crossed my mind upon reading this prompt.

salaam sister, i sent the anon about knowing someone who is suffering from depression. the advice you gave is wonderful…but they moved away. we currently live in 2 different countries so, i cannot do any of the things you said. is there other advice you can offer me? بارك الله فيك

I remember I was going thru a very dark time in my life and @that-one-tunisian-girl kept sending me anons on @bintafriqiya every single day with positive words and encouragement, without even knowing me at that point, she used to put a green heart, and I would look forward to reading her words every single day, and it worked!

I am only mentioning this story, so that you get a small idea on the power of words and how much a random text could change a person's mood.

How to be there for a person who is depressed remotely? SEND MEMES 😅 It always works. Well, I dunno, just make sure you be present for them, text them everyday. I wouldn't recommend calling because probably they won't answer. Text them and double text them and even if they don't reply, just randomly text them, share details with them, silly stories, etc. Tell them that you are there for them, that they are so precious for you, that they make your world turn around and that your life makes no sense without them. Send them a long text where you mention all there qualities or like 20 reasons why they are the best person/ your best friend, etc. If this person is religious you can send them quotes, Hadiths, lectures on how to deal with depression and heart breaks, etc. It really depends on their personality and their preference, and their sense of humor, yk? Send them cute kitten videos. ! Everyone loves a cute kitten video 🙈

And pray for them my dear. Make extensive khass duāa for them. Jazaki Allahu kulla Khayr for caring so much about them and wanting to help them 🤍

May Allah swt ease their affairs, take away their pain and sooth their heart, Ameen. 🤍
