Kinda crappy sketch but i drew ~them~

I think i should post a blog about Bryn and who she is and her affiliations and such. I’ve done so on amino but i think that i should post them here. :)

While i’m writing, i should probably give this little intro to the relationship between Luke and Bryn.

Bryn and Luke are indeed a couple, they started off as friends then it turned into partners and then it turned into husband and wife. (In the redemption arc i made where Bryn grabs Luke before Walter uses him as a puppet and helps him out, blah blah blah)

They are polar oppisites, style wise/look wise and a bit personality wise. Bryn is a 5’4 fat goth lady who is off putting when you first look at her, but is a softie when you really get to know her. Meanwhile Luke is a 6’5 Vampire man who’s more quiet and reserved and always looking menacing. She has short black hair(A mullet) and he has long blonde hair. She always wears black, he always wears white. She is fat, he is thin. She is an extroverted introvert, he is an introvert.

Frost & Fire:

Zerve. No contest. Well a little bit of contest with Enna, but not really.

They're just so freaking fun! I mean I they have armor with a prosthetic arm built into it so they can hold a sword two handed, and that's not even the best thing about them! They're Ana & Dash's older sibling, by 1.5 centuries and no one knew that Zerve existed until Jerry (who is a talking telepathic sword!) accidently said so! They're a general in the Bryn army, and also the person who is sent by Bryn to provide aid to Halmire in the war! Which is where they meet Ana & Dash, their little sister & brother that they never knew about.

Nine's a Storm:

okay this one is hard. Either Starr or Li. Li because they're a mermaid pirate in disguise as a human pirate and Starr because she's secretly royalty, a pirate, and also has a really nice hat that i need to find an excuse for other ocs to have that hat because I like it.

Angel's Daughters:

After omitting the ocs that are technically (They're based of his dnd NPCS, and in some cases entirely them) my dads, I'm left with Anne, Enna, and Zibra. Zibra, although he doesn't get any screen time at all, is my favorite.

He's the older brother (by 5 years) of Enna & Anne, and only child of Jenn Kromlin & Cessari to remember what his mother looked like. He was leader of Oleski for two years before he was poisoned by his uncle, and he was raised by his older sister who pretended to be his Aunt (That older sister is the MC of A Dragon's Apprentice, because I like having all my WIPs connect) because she's 50 years older than him. He's Zebra's (Anne's son) namesake, and also the one who gave Enna 5 of her daggers. He gave Anne 6 of hers.

Assassin's Code:

It's probably Riley, or Smith. Not Eryn, because as awesome as she is she just isn't my favorite (Sorry, Eryn). Riley because he's just fun to write, and Smith because I like Rivals to Friends, and he's one half of a Rival to Friends pair (The other half is Eryn).

A Dragon's Apprentice (NaNoWriMo 2021):

It's the as yet unnamed Court Wizard. Mostly because he's secretly a dragon (I really like dragons, alright?) and also because he just. doesn't care about the rules. He could be the court wizard for the next 16 generations and still have enough lifespan left to do whatever normal dragons do. But no, he has to pick an apprentice because tradition, blah blah blah.

Other (Unannounced) WIPs:

of all my other WIPs, most of them more of just an idea than an actual WIP, it's probably Thia. She's a bladesinger (Uses magic & a sword), rides a giant wolf (aka Warg) and also is the last true bladesinger in the world. She's loosely based off my first dnd character. I say loosely because my first dnd character was a ranger who used a bow & arrows but also swords, had a panther named Luna and a eagle named Goldie, and also nearly died to skeletons at first level. She was fun. I made her when I was like 10 1/2.

So I read last night, because i swore off the show after the last season, that Siren wasn’t renewed and honestly? I’m glad. It’s bittersweet because during season to it was my favorite show and because the ending was a cliffhanger which I hate, even if I didn’t want to see the next season. But even though I’m sad that the actors are out a job, they ruined the show, alienated their majority viewers for white/cis/het crap,and basically did the same bullshit to black and queer women that they were doing SO WELL no doing. I don’t know what happened in the writers room that lead to the drastic and sudden shift but the fat that the bryn shipping homophobic , racist, Maddie hating asshole wont get to see a season with their ship alone and no Maddie like they hoped.

That being said, here are some things I think could have happened heavily based on my bias.

Ben died.

What we can take as the ending/future:

His final dream was just that, the final thought on his mind as he died. Ryn saved her tribe and her race by having a baby and getting the ocean united and will stay on land for some time searching for Ben before she had to go back to the ocean to keep being able to be a mermaid. Maddie would have traveled with Robb cleaning the ocean and helping tribes make more babies, but would have eventually grew apart and Maddie would have went back to the cove to find Ryn gone for good and while she might see her again, she understood the importance of her being with her people and doesn’t call on her too much to make her stay on land like Ben selfishly wanted to. They still love each other, but Maddie wants what’s best for Ryn and her baby.

What they might have done because they bend reality to their whim.

Ben was alive. He either lost his memory and was living with a tribe somewhere and would eventually meet Ryn and Maddie would be gone forever because there’s nothing more entertaining than a straight white couple. Ben would come t to land, have mermaid powers but Ryn staying on land, lost hers so now she’d be like his little wife as he raises her child as his own though Hope’s father is alive and around. The Gov. or something would have found out about mermaids on a grand scale and attack and Ben would be the human white savior of all the mermaids and single handedly fix everything cause he’s just that great. Maybe Maddi shows up, maybe not, who cares. Xander is the sherrif and Helen is still alone. What a season.

What the Polymarine shippers wish would happen without re-writing the entire season 3:

It’s been a year, Ryn went looking for Ben , found him, blah blah romance between them, then Maddie came back and was so happy to see them both they all had sex and remembered they love each other and would be happy together again.

I’m obvs riffing here as I make my last post about this (sans for the gifset I wanna make) and making my peace/saying goodbye to what was once a great show that I will always remember fondly for two seasons.

I hope this fandom will all move on and find something worthy and that doesn’t fuck them over because honestly, we deserve it.

i made dawn's acquaintance shortly before leaving on a trip to visit my longtime girlfriend sybil and my girlfriend jackie, who at the time i'd known for less than two months. i had been very isolated, both before this time and during it. at sybil’s prompting, i had recently joined a server run by bryn, the first community i had been a part of in a very long time. i met jackie there, and she had been the first person i'd talked to at length besides sybil for about two years. i first messaged dawn to clarify something i'd seen her say:

"Which deaths matter: Those killed by their partners, or those dying alone in garages full of carbon monoxide, with nooses around their necks, with excess drugs in their systems?

Of course all kinds of transfeminine people are at risk of both kinds of death, but we know that the proportions between demographics differ. We also know who makes the news and who dies alone."

this was a patently ridiculous thing to say. i knew that at the time, and her noncommittal yet revealing explanations further confirmed it. she went on to map out her trans-lesbianism-moralizing stance, implicitly, evasively equating nonwhite death by transmisogynistic violence with white transmisogyny-fuelled suicide, blah blah. i let it pass, valuing interpersonal civility as i did at the time, and hoping to make friends by default.

i mention this because it would set the tone for our dealings from then on.

we developed a fairly active friendship. beginning from early on in our relationship, dawn took great care to emphasize the existential gulf between our embodiments, never quite laying it bare, but making it clear that she was uniquely disadvantaged as compared to myself, who was, in turn, uniquely privileged over her. i should state plainly and crudely for clarity's sake that i am a mentally ill chinese trans woman dropout, who was, at the time, underweight and extremely isolated. i would continue to be those things, sometimes increasingly, throughout the course of our relationship. dawn is white and transfeminine.

also beginning from early on in our relationship was her insistence that i never make reference to jackie's and my relationship, which she also applied to jackie. this was enforced through negative reaction (harshly scolding me, blocking me for days, then acting as if nothing had happened). this was, ostensibly, due to her unreciprocated desire for jackie to be her girlfriend. i would say that it is a very irresponsible rule to impose upon someone who spoke regularly to 3 people in the world. it's worth noting that dawn did not impose this same rule upon bryn regarding her relationship with jackie, for reasons unclear to me.

dawn would often voice her grievances with jackie; her erratic availability for commitments, irregular response times to messages, refusal to enter into a codified romantic relationship; once, the fact that jackie had failed to do something sexual when dawn wanted her to. my girlfriend became an entity i couldn't fawn over, save for platonically, but one who i must always be ready to accept criticism of. you can imagine that this was not conducive to the honeymoon period of a young relationship, not that i would fault dawn for this particular action, in isolation.

along the way, i started wanting a codified romantic relationship with dawn. this made it difficult for me when dawn would constantly talk about how attractive various people in her life were and how virtuously they conducted themselves interpersonally and sexually. of course these are natural and normally innocuous things to talk about, but the frequency was very high, often coincided with vulnerable periods for me, and often felt pointed. once i said something to dawn about how i cared about her and was worried that i was a diversion to her. she chose to tell me that she had just got done having the same conversation with someone else.

dawn bemoaned her lack of partner(s). the fact that i was partnered, as most of her friends were, was something i was made to feel a lot of guilt over. my relationship status was one of the things that she made clear set us apart, made us unequal. i heavily internalised the message: dawn was a traumatized, mentally ill, isolated, alienated, pitiable girl (and i wasn't).

in july of 2019, i had been flippant about the difficulty for the game master in balancing the mechanics of the tabletop rpg monster of the week, and responded excessively flippantly to her explanations. (consulting the logs to write this post filled me with anger on behalf of the girl that i was at the time; an anger she didn’t know she was entitled to). i won’t claim that it wasn’t wrong for me to behave that way, i will just say that i apologised as soon as she expressed that i had upset her. she took the chance to re-emphasize how i was a hurtful, maladjusted person, and responded to my apology by once again defining me into the category that her abusers and oppressors occupied. 

two weeks after that, i was in the middle of an involved babysitting session which i couldn't feasibly take a break from when dawn told me that she had decided to sever ties. we had a short, nominally-civil discussion. i swallowed everything, apologized to the end for whatever infinite wrongdoing i was guilty of. i couldn't process what was happening quickly enough. before i could absorb it, we'd said goodbye and i had been rather unceremoniously blocked on discord. i needed so badly to cry, to scream and clutch myself. but, like i said, babysitting. less than 3 hours after this happened, after I'd had some time to myself to absorb it, i sent her a single tumblr ask; a parting shot that i’d been denied. a desperate, manic attempt to feel real, to feel like i was my own person, she would smugly make her smoking gun of my boundary violating behaviour. that was the last i ever contacted her. 

after her severing ties, my isolation was heightened, particularly within the shared space of bryn’s server. i stopped participating, and soon left. how could i act normally and joke about video games when i shared a space with someone i wasn’t supposed to be around? would it be a violation of boundaries to riff off something she said? to express affection for my girlfriend who she still talked to? and what was the point? i didn’t know anyone else particularly well, and these were some of the women who i was so much less interesting and virtuous than. 

i never talked about dawn to anyone besides sybil or jackie until now, when she made a post featuring screenshots of my blog and then publicizing my 8 month old tumblr ask. such was the extent of my poisoning her friends against her. bryn and her girlfriend took issue with dawn’s mistreatment of them for reasons entirely separate from myself, and certainly not at my prompting.

for my part, seeing friends of jackie’s reblog from dawn and seeing them in the notes of her posts about me has been intensely paranoia-inducing, primarily due to the escalating severity and danger of the charges that she began to lay against me in these posts.

tldr, dawn is a white transfem and i’m a chinese transfem. we were both very isolated and new to bryn’s server, began a friendship during which she positioned me as being essentially different and more privileged than her, grouped me with her oppressors and abusers, and undermined my relationships, including with my girlfriend who i’d only recently met. after the relationship ended, she effectively barred me from the only community i had, and later started alluding to me being a predator.

“I think you’re overreacting a bit,” Varric states the first day, as they fold in on themselves on the table next to him. To be fair, they’re always overreacting- but that’s neither really here nor there. “He’ll be back, don’t worry.”

“Don’t lie to me, Varric. I hate being lied to.” They murmur in response, pressing a cheek against their hands folded on top of legs pulled to their chest.

“Then I am the last person you want to talk to.” The dwarf laughs, and they almost snort in response. Almost. “He likes you, Cinnamon, he’ll be back.” It’s at this point they turn their head to the left, blocking him out with the right. He understands what’s happening and just shakes his head.

The next day they sought out Dorian’s company instead. “You continue to have horrid taste, you know that?” He scolds them as he picks through books with little interest, and they wonder if it’s just a tic of his that he can’t stand still. “First clothes, then men, what ever am I going to do with you?” He tsks, and they scrunch their face up in response.

“You’re not really helping,” they mumble into their knees, glaring at their supposed ‘best friend’ as he betrayed their trust and offered no comforts to them in their upset. “No wonder I’m your only friend.” They tack on.

“You do have terrible tastes in friends too,” is the response they get, and they leave soon after in a huff.

They find themself in the company of Cole next, listening to the chatter and laughter in the tavern below them. Cole murmurs things to himself, and in turn tries to comfort Bryn. It doesn’t really work.

“They weren’t people,” he says, “they hurt true spirits and for that he must hurt them.”

“What does that say about me? Since I stopped them?” They ask, cross legged on the floor, head leaning back against the wall.

“He’s not yet sure you are people.”

They think to cry a bit at the statement, but they can’t quite remember why they were going to cry in the first place. They do know that they still don’t feel any better.
